J. D.Comfy bed, clean room, lovely swimming pool. Staff were helpful. Breakfas could have been a little hotter but was tasty.
M.The hotel itself was lovely - big rooms, great amenities - Bowling alley, table tennis tables and a pool with a steam room and sauna.
The downside however, was the fact that the staff were unhelpful, service wasn't great, AC did not work (did not provide any solution when we brought it up).
Booked hotel specifically for the pool - much smaller than the pictures online. Steam room and sauna were great. Breakfast was inconsistent - service was slow.
Feels more of a 4* hotel (due to staff) not worth the price we paid.
L. W.We stayed here to celebrate both a birthday and anniversary and we were really excited. Unfortunately a couple of things seriously marred our experience.
1) Fire Alarm. The alarm in our room was faulty. It flashed an exceedingly bright light every 30 seconds throughout the first night. Despite the tape that had been stuck over it as a botch fix it was very disturbing. The next morning 4 alarms went off between 7.30am and 9am. Whilst we were glad to learn there was no way we were going to burn in a fire, it certainly wasn't the repeated wake up call we were looking for. After being silenced the light was then flashing every 3 seconds. It took A LOT of chasing the staff to get it fixed and even us stating we'd leave they didn't before maintenance were eventually sent up (2pm) and both the flashing light and the noise was fixed.
Whilst friendly and polite, the reception staff were clearly briefed to provide stock answers rather than actually trying to sort out issues.
2)It's opposite a motorcycle club so despite paying for a more expensive room there is A LOT of engine noise throughout the night from heavy bikes. Not the fault of the hotel but worth keeping in mind if you arent a heavy sleeper.
Not the restful weekend we were aiming for which is a shame because it is a lovely hotel.

W. P.Very good Hotel with friendly staff and nice comfortable clean rooms. Hotel was very quiet and has good secure underground parking. Plenty of pubs restaurants and lively entertainment within a short walk. Make sure you see the cells in the main bar. All very interesting.

Venue was in basement, a good auditorium. Canapes were poor. Chewy beef on a skewer. So OK venue if they up their ante with the quality of food. Good for a London tech venue. Did not stay there so can't comment on rooms or service otherwise.

They were short staffed everywhere except reception.
I walked into the breakfast hall seated and served myself. Walked into the spa grabbed my own towels and robe and found my own way through.
The roof top bar was beautiful but it was table service only and I couldn't get a table... you may need to rethink this policy.
With a little bit of work this place could be amazing.

M. G. T.I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Only 1.5 years old. Nice large room. Clean and comfy. And great to start the day with a swim in the pool.
Customer experience wise there are small faults like makeup unfriendly light in the bathroom, lack of power plugs around the desk, no hot water in the showers in the pool area. It feels like no-one has paid proper attention to the customer journey.
That's why I give the hotel 4 instead of 5 stars.
S. D.Rooms - Great big spacious rooms equipped with Natural light, Mini Bar, Kettle. From my colleagues, I heard that some rooms even have a bath tub. Very comfortable bedding.
Location - Fantastic! Very close to Old Street tube station and close to lots of bars and restaurants.
Service and Facilities - Friendly and courteous staff. The hotel does have a large theatre and a pool.
Overall, I would certainly recommend for a short city break or business stay.
l. e.Oh this is such a lovely building.We had a sharing platter and cocktails and sat back enjoying the surroundings. Well worth a visit.
The surrounding area is buzzing with nightlife. I understand they have a cinema there plus the hotel itself and restaurant /bar area.There is a roof terrace open in summer months. They have original prisoner cells too.

M. S.Booked an afternoon tea here, staff were friendly and the hotel is really nice. The afternoon itself is pretty good but the only thing was having the savouries and sweets all on one tray together, which is quite off-putting and confusing. Doesn't make for a good photo either. Afterwards we went for a drink at the rooftop bar, a good size place with some funky chairs. Not a big choice of cocktails and price is quite high.

The front of house staff and concierge were notably incredible.
It's an undiscovered hotel and venue so far and I would like to revisit to see more atmosphere, the rooftop will be nice to try in the spring.

The manager, Angelo, took his time to show us all the amenities and made sure we had a great time during our stay. All the employees are really nice and courteous! I am only staying in this hotel for 3 nights, but will deftly come back to this hotel during my next visit! Thank you for such an amazing experience!

I. M. T.Really nice old building, we went for afternoon tea which was ok, good sandwiches and desserts. Service could be better in a place like this. Even though everyone was very polite and helpful once you asked for something, sometimes we had to wait a while or even get up to get them to see us. In such a nice hotel you would expect that they would be on top of it more. But overall nice experience.
D. M.4 stars as in good & would recommend. Room was large with a little sofa, desk and a comfy bed. I missed international power sockets, although the Concierge will gladly provide some. Free phone during the stay, but it's lacking new Android security updates.
Breakfast was good, not excellent. Selection is average in quantity, mainly fresh in quality.

B. D.Great hotel. Checking in was a breeze. To begin with the lift/rooms are a bit tricky to navigate as there are plenty of doors and not many signs but once you find your room the hotel is flawless. The staff were friendly and the amenities were exceptional. The fitness centre has a great pool plus a sauna and a steam room which were both really good. Beds were comfortable as were pillows. Bathrooms were spacious but I do think instead of putting a bidet thing in they could have fit in a bath perhaps? There’s a lot of unused room.
D.Afternoon Tea needs a little more attention. I’ve been here twice now and though the food is really good, the staff need to be more attentive. They should not be waiting until customers have left to clean tables. I was sat talking with the person I came with and we were left with our dirty plates in front of us for over an hour. Also afternoon tea is supposed to be a nice experience, so I believe the staff should come and say thank you or they hope we enjoyed it. It looked like they were on hiding until we got fed up of waiting and left because no one was coming over. Seems like other customers did the same too. This has happened on both occasions of visiting and should really change
B. D.Excellent venue. Visited for a work event and stayed 2 nights. The room was large and well maintained. The bar area is well decorated and has a good atmosphere. The function room is huge and the cinema was great.
C. B.I have previously had afternoon tea here and it wad lovely. This time I met a friend for lunch and the food was delicious. It was so peaceful and the staff were lovely. The only downside was that the waiting staff just vanished and when we needed then we literally had to go looking for them
L. S.The stay was great, the rooms were roomy and some have a nice view. The pool was extraordinary, temperatures as warm as the room itself. Staff were incredibly nice. Room service had great time.
All in all, it was a great stay at the courthouse.
J. s.Good hotel in an old building , apparently it was a court many years ago. The lounge bar on the ground floor is good. There is also one on the roof top for summer months. Good service, they have a basic restaurant on the ground floor but not a great one, however there are plenty of options nearby especially in the Shoreditch food street

We were trying to find a table around the bar for lunch and stumbled upon the old cells and was in one of the cell where a well known English gangster was last held before this old court has been turned into a hotel.
P. B.I picked this hotel for my wedding anniversary. Having booked tickets to a show, I wanted a room for the night and breakfast. This hotel looked luxurious and along with its quirky back-story I decided to book for the night. Upon arrival the concierge and receptionist were very friendly and helpful. We arrived prior to book-in so enjoyed a swim and relax in the spa and sauna, located in the basement level (-4). This is a small plunge pool and hot rooms which were not over-crowded, in fact, besides the one other person in there (who left after 20 minutes) we had all to ourselves. The whole area was kept clean, tidy and well stocked by the very discrete cleaning staff, which were never actually seen but the service they maintained was very much appreciated. We returned to reception about 2 hours later to check-in and received a complimentary upgrade of room to a city view (level 6) along with a sweet desert waiting in our room with our baggage. Our room looked down across the cool roof terrace with the ornate bell tower of the town hall opposite and the skyline looking towards the City with Tower 42 (Natwest Tower), the Shard over the river and Canary Wharf in the distance further East. The breakfast was delicious, cooked and continental, I enjoyed the sausages and griddled tomatoes. Having only stayed for the night I didn't get to experience much of the hotel, I would certainly recommend and would like to return to eat in the restaurant, spend longer on the roof terrace and have a drink in one of the jail cells in the main bar - and of course have a game of bowling. A wonderful hotel with friendly and efficient staff and a relaxed and calm atmosphere - a haven when stepping off the bustling high street nightlife.

It does not look anything like the picture shown on the groupon ad.... the food was normal... the scones were the best but the remainings were not good... the cakes were pretty old and the cookies were dead hard. the cream and jam for the scones were pretty tasteless and the sandwiches didnt taste fresh. The bun for the burger was not good, hard and a bit old. The tea was hot. the waiting staff was nice and polite but they did vanish sometime...
P. R.What a transformation of a building ! Truly a top of the range Hotel , remarkable ! The missus took me there for my Birthday , it is an amazing place , it used to be a local Magistrates Court and is now a great night out in a plush Hotel , great Roof Garden , wicked views over East London , good music and great service by the Bar Staff .....they still have the cells there which are done out in some style with some pictures of old East End legends painted on the walls , also a very plush Restaurant & great Bars' , we had an extremely lovely night there , definately recommended , try it , it's really good , we will go back there sometime soon.
l. k.Roberto, the senior conceierge, made our Christmas Day absolutely fantastic. We walked in to inquire about the bar, since everything is closed, and he went the extra mile to give us a full, private, VIP tour, including the rooftop terrace with the GORGEOUS view of London (which is typically closed). Talk about someone who understands and excels in customer service. So impressed with the staff and the hotel. Next time, this is where we will be staying!!! K. W.I'm going to give detail in this review as I think it's worth it. We stayed at the Courthouse in September 2017 - it was for my boyfriend's birthday and last weekend in the country, before he went home to America. We'd originally looked at slightly cheaper hotels in the area, but decided that the hotel looked great and had a lot of amenities, as well as obviously a great location. We opted for the Magistrate King (effectively a King room, I think one up from the cheapest option).
On arrival, we found out we'd been upgraded to the Hoxton Studio Suite (which we'd originally looked at but decided we couldn't justify the cost, so that turned out to be very lucky!). I'd also emailed ahead of time to have some wine and beers put in the room to surprise my boyfriend, which unfortunately arrived just after we'd gotten to the room, but didn't dampen the surprise at all. We were given a tour of the hotel while our bags got taken upstairs, right through all of the bar area (with some history thrown in) to the roof terrace and pool a few levels below ground.
The suite itself was pure luxury - each day we were given little chocolates and bottles of water, and it was cleaned to a high standard. The bed was huge and really comfortable, and the bathroom and all fittings were very modern. We were lucky as well to get a room with a bathtub, which I was very happy to use, and found it also had a tv opposite - very fancy.
We made the most of the pool over 2 or 3 days, and we only ever saw 2 or 3 people there at the same time as us. The rooftop bar was also really nice and had a good view over Old Street and out towards Shoreditch (photo included). My only criticism of the bar was that the high seats were really uncomfortable and difficult to sit on as a 5 ft 3 slightly curvy young woman. A stick insect may have been able to get their legs under the table, but not sure anyone else could!
Price wise at the bar, things were about where you would expect for London - not too overpriced. We did also end up trying to use the laundry facility, which I need to give the hotel extra points for. On their laundry 'instructions', it really wasn't clear what we had to do. You have to give the items by a certain time in the morning, and you'll receive them (I think) the next day, or at least much later in the evening, as they use a specific company. As I mentioned, this was my boyfriend's last weekend in the country, and he really needed to do some laundry to ensure he had nice outfits for the evenings out in the city. We went to the desk around 1pm, saying that we needed the items back by 6pm latest so we could get ready to go out, and despite this totally going against the laundry service, they pulled it out for us and made it happen in 4 hours. We were really impressed with this level of service, and they only charged us the standard amount despite having to use a faster local service.
We had room service on our penultimate day, which was really nice, but a little difficult to get right. They hadn't got our order correct somehow, so there was a lot of back and forth to ensure we had all of our items unfortunately.
Other than that, I really really enjoyed my stay here. I'd love to go back (if I can afford as fancy a room again!), and it was nice having a staycation in my own city. If you're contemplating whether to go and if you can justify the cost, I would do it. Even if you go for a 'cheaper' room, the facilities really made up for it.
S. M.Big room, big bed with several big pillows, sofa and desk. My room had no view (wall) and I was woken up early by all the machinery below my window outside. Conversely, no nuisance at all from the other lodgers. Great shower with very nice bathing products and lots of towels. Nothing was missing, e.g. shampoo, hair dryer, comb, bathrobes, slippers, safe, fridge (with only water in it), sewing kit, tooth brush and tooth paste... Very complete (English & European) breakfast. Friendly & helpful personnel.
B.Just to be clear - this is a review of the hotel bar, NOT the hotel - I have not stayed here and it may be lovely. We went here for a drink on a wet Sunday early evening. It was pretty disappointing. The bar is a huge space, with gas fireplace. It was totally empty, and that never helps atmosphere. But the whole thing felt like something high concept, on a wetherspoons budget. Wine was fine, but expensive, and the pub glassware furthered the effect of being ina wetherspoons revamp, rather than a hotel where rooms can be upwards of £200 per night. In comparison to the buzz of Hoxton Hotel, the sheer coolness of Ace Hotel, or the expensive luxury of Nobu, this felt like the third rate option.
M. C.Beautiful hotel in shoreditch in an old courthouse. It has a nice restaurant, pool and gym. Location wise it is well placed near loads of bars and restaurants. Only niggle was that we had a wait to check in due to a booking error. The staff tried their best to quickly resolve though.

S.Rooms - 128 rooms that actually all of them are king size, one building with modern room call in a new building. And old building with kind of Victorian style with big windows and beautiful wardrobes.
F&B - restaurant in in previous court room, Bar is based in previous police station which have private cells for small meetings one to one or small surprise paries 😋 I did surprise party to my friend there lol friends was hiding in one of the cells lol when we sit down and then they came out with birthday cake. LoL anyway it's very nice place, beautiful. Cinema I would say for more then 140pax., Conference rooms large one plus one room with Bowling alley! Good for birthdays or conferences with private fun for the team. Roof top terrace - just can't go wrong ! Amazing. Even painthouse rooms has its own entrance!
SPA - must see it use it enjoy it! Rocking chairs and sauna steam room, massaging pool.. I mean it's so nice ! So if I could give 10* I would !
Because not just that all good, but Staff is also amazing! Friendly, helpful, funny and professional same time. My stay was pleasantly surprised.. love this place I recommend!

B. G.An enlightening experience staying here. Got a tour of the Cells (which are private chambers) and the Courts (which are restaurants). So much nicer now Lol. The hotel's deco is breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are abso friendly courteous and informative especially Kaylan on conceirge. Loved the swimming pool, steam and sauna. The Sky Terrace is lovely. There's also a cinema which had a 5pm showing which we missed. There's also a bowling alley and a gym. The only negative is that there is no restaurant open on Sundays and Monday's but there is room service. Positive is that there are plenty of places to eat around Shoreditch so we won't hold this against them. All in all a gr8 place. Will defo be returning. So glad the weather was gr8 too.

Rooms are large by London standards and the bed is very comfortable. Quiet too. Bathroom is practical, good powerful shower and plenty of hot water in the morning. Check in staff are efficient. Location is excellent for Liverpool Street Station and Bishopsgate. Trendy Hoxton and Shoreditch nearby too with good restaurants and bars.
Downsides, wifi is slow and for some reason no mobile reception whatsoever in my room (EE network). Also, courthouse has courthouse steps so not easiest to access with large/ heavy suitcases.
