A really quirky and charming old fashioned London pub/restaurant offering a good menu of traditional pub grub that is in large servings at competitive prices. Great Sunday roasts and mountain of delicious ribs is a feast. A good range of ales, wines and spirits. Friendly and efficient staff and a celebrity photo gallery unmatched in any other establishment.

I dropped by here for a drink with no expectations but was pleasantly surprised! I really liked the old-school cinemagraphic decor, which didn’t look dated. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and there was plenty of space. Prices were also reasonable for the neighbourhood. I would definitely recommend and will return!

Old style pub with old style decoration. Dated, albeit very briefly, the then resident DJ (Ross), back in the mid to late 90s. Were were all so hot then! Well worth a visit if you want to see what Hampstead offers today's LGBT+ world as a reflection on the end of the new romantic era, which even then the pub was lamenting on the monochrome days of the 60s and 70s. Truly a step back in time. (Except for the prices of course.)

Unique and special ambience due to the lighting and presentation of the venue. Food came in good time. Service was good. It was nice that we didn't have to pay service charge because discretionary service charge stresses me out because you obviously don't want to pay more but then you don't want to ask them to take it off because then you don't want to look stingy.

My new favourite pub. Generous and delicious Sunday roast, great snacks, lovely staff and very friends regulars. A wonderful atmosphere and I will be going again soon.

Decent local pub in an excellent location. Came it for a quick drink, grway prices on the house spirits. They don't have a house rum though? Atmosphere inside is very relaxed and unique decoration. Had a great time, was there on a thursday so it was sing along night. Brilliant. After the disappointment of the concert at Kenwood House being cancelled it was one of the best evenings that we have had for a long time. Will definitely be going back again and will recommend it to all my friends. Shame that I didn't know about it beforehand as i've been to the pub on many occasions.

The candlelight is a nice touch for this cosy pub, the staff are very friendly.

The food here is ok, nothing special. Fish and chips were brought out rather quickly, fish was ok but the chips were thin, American style, rather than UK fat chips. Also, the portions aren’t big enough for the price. However, the bar and variety of drinks are quite nice. I think this is a “pub” above all else - I’d come here again just to have a decent drink, without food. The service is friendly, no complaints. Nice, chill atmosphere.

Very enjoyable first visit to this pub, went purely to do the quiz and try the Sunday roast, both experiences a thorough success (although we didn't win the quiz, we came a close-ish fourth....). Pretty relaxed vibe and a happy packed pub, the food was excellent, ££, and the quiz was pitched beautifully to be gently challenging. Special mention must go to the quiz master, Barry, who ran things with great flair and humour, and was generous with the hints - (we probably did a bit better than we should have because of him) - all in all a very entertaining evening.

Iconic, well situated pub/hotel with decent rooms, and a good characterful bar set in charming up market area 20 mins from the city centre by tube which is a matter of a few hundred yards away. Many amenities and attractions nearby plus of course Hampstead Heath and Highgate cemetry a pleasant walk away.

Hampsteads former gay pub, for several years now the areas best pub with live music on Thursday Friday and Monday, quiz night on Sunday and fascinating and eclectic people and decor all year round. Attracts Bohemians and students in equal measure, as word gets around tourists too.

Although I was surprised to find the hotel was over a pub (didn't quite fit with my idea of boutique), once in the room I was impressed at how much they have tried to fit into a small space. There's an ensuite shower room, okayish toiletries, and somewhere to sit and work or write facing the window, so someone has obviously thought about these things. I also appreciated the extra heater - a thoughtful touch. We opted for the four poster bed room with balcony - sounds luxurious and the four poster bed was a treat, but the balcony is a small balcony overlooking Hampstead High Street - great if you need a cigarette but not really big or quiet enough for much more. There's no breakfast available but there are plenty of lovely places, both chains and boutique, around so that's not really a problem.

Don't understand the poor reviews. This pub has been around a long time and is really pleasant. It's one of the few old school pubs in the area. Yes, there are some higher quality food and beer in the area. However, they come with prices to match. If you're looking for a friendly local pub that does an 11 pound Sunday roast then look no further. This kind of pub is rare but not to everyone's taste.

W1V Is a cosy Hampstead public house. The food is reasonably priced and very well presented. I still cannot decide what is tastier, the gravy that comes in the steak and ale pie, or the extra gravy that comes on the side. Lunchtime specials every day are good value too. Multiple seating options front back n side and a lovely beer garden hidden out back through the ladies toilets. Staff are always friendly and upbeat. Great for conversation with friends except on the awesome live music nights ;-) Dont believe me? Go and have a look for yourself.

Staff - Very friendly and laid back. Ambience - Good for a pint of bear with friends on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Food - We had the Sunday beef roast for ONLY £11. Now any place that has the price in big bold letters on the menu is not going to serve you the best cut. In fact it was so tough I hurt my jaw trying to finish my meal. Location - The best bit about the afternoon was buying the crepes from the vendor outside the pub.

Mediocre experience. No problem with the staff, they were all happy and helpful. The food itself was not the best quality, we had both roast lamb and roast beef. Both meals were tough and quite bland the saving grace was the sauces and condiments. For desert the baked banoffee pie was amazing, although all deserts were quite expensive. Maybe my expectation was a little high, but nothing set it above any other local pub.

A colleague and I needed a quick lunch and weren't dressed up enough for the fancy French cafés in Hampstead - although I did put on a shirt - when we found this pub. They serve good pub grub at good prices for London. There didn't seem to be sandwiches or light bites on the menu so we both had fish and chips which were served quickly and were piping hot. Typical London pub with plenty of seating, mostly indoors but a few outdoor tables as well.

A nice pub in Hampstead. It's never overly busy, the staff are friendly, there's a decent selection of wines and beers and the sharing platters are a tasty way to soak up some booze. It's warm inside during winter and there's a cool beer garden out back for the summer. I had no idea it was a gay pub until I read the description above! Still, it's the only pub we go to in Hampstead and shall likely remain so.

Sat outside in the back where they got a few tables which is done quite nicely. Staff was friendly and recommended a nice Pinot Grigio Rose. I got know the KWIV 50 years ago when it was the best and most famous gay pub in London. Gay venues are very much in decline. Now the KWIV is a nice pub with friendly staff but no longer has the atmosphere of those days. Which means of course that it appeals to a wider clientele. They even have live music!

A Real Boozer in Hampstead!!! was welcomed by a lovely chap called Andy, perfect pint of Guinness along with some Irish charm and perfect eyebrows. I had a small bowl of chips and was given some water for my dog. i think i have found my local.

I have been coming to this pub for many years. Since it has changed hands there have been improvements such as the decor (lots of interesting photos of famous people) and orange mood lighting. However there have been sharp increases in the price of drinks particularly since 'higher end' brands have been introduced. No longer can you buy Strongbow cider, it's now Symonds Cyder- you get the drift. There is no longer an all day menu. Food is not served between 1500-1700 so bear this in mind. Gone are the days of rowdy drag queens and loud music (that was many many years ago!) But the place still has charm so worth a visit.

Best Sunday Roast in Hampstead We stayed upstairs in the Hotel for NYE and had a great night, on check out we decided to see what all the fuss was about with the roasts! Portions were perfect, the gravy was to die for and our beef was just how it should be. The only issue was my husband had to ask for his beef to be a little more well done BUT is suppose thats personal preference! We will return
