R. R.I've stayed here a couple of times now. Don't come here if you're after luxury but if you want somewhere to base yourself for a London trip without spending too much, this place is great. It's just behind Tate Modern, it's walking distance from lots of London landmarks and tourist attractions, and it's great for enjoying London's Southbank - one of the nicest places in London in my opinion. Rooms are basic but clean. The breakfasts are also very basic but set you up for the day.

J. P.It was a great stay! Within minutes of Thames, Black Friars station, London Bridge, and other tourist locations. Price was very reasonable. Rooms had all the basics: comfy bed and private RR. There is no A/C but we stayed in July and we were not hot at all. Room was nice and cool. The breakfast was delicious, included hot and cold items with plenty of choices. There is a bar with pool and game tables. Also a self serve laundry. Would definitely stay again.
d.This is a great place for many reasons. Location is amazing since it's right downtown and next to many of the most popular sights. The value for the money goes without saying. For the price, you'd expect some cheap accommodation type yet the room was very clean, spacious enough and very quiet. Best of all is the breakfast which can easily satisfy you for almost the whole day. It also has a lot of variety. Going from eggs and bacon, to fruits, cereal, pancakes and also many choices of drinks. I highly recommend this place and I would go back anytime.
J. C.Though the room is like a hostel for students, but overall the room is spacey, clean, comfortable and affordable. There is a free WiFi as well. The room comes with breakfast and it was really nice! Would recommend this if you wish to have a comfortable yet affordable accommodation in London.

A.A very decent place to stay when visiting London, when you just need your room to cover your basic needs, and without paying much. Pretty clean and spacious rooms, created as student dormitories, with 4 beds and two desks. The beds, even though they looked like folding beds, were comfortable. Breakfast was very good and had many choices. Room service was provided every other day. Small kitchens were available if someone wanted to prepare a small meal. Would definitely recommend to young travelers or those in business or leisure who just want a decent place to stay.

Stayed here due to visiting London during the peak summer tourist season and struggled to get hotel accommodation to the area at a reasonable price. Well equipped and felt as though we stayed in a traditional hotel (Premiere Inn / Travel Lodge / Holiday Inn), we would consider using again!
S. R.Bankside deserves 5 stars, because it's in an awesome location behind the Tate Modern, and when I stayed the night it was for a very reasonable price and included breakfast. The breakfast team were cheerful and helpful and went out their way to check various ingredients for me. I'd previously recently stayed in a place in London costing 3 times as much as what I paid here and I can honestly say I preferred Bankside, where the service was much better. In each case I was a single traveller. The room I stayed in was basic with a single bed and I shared a bathroom with the room next door, but had it to myself as that room wasn't occupied when I stayed. It was clean and unpretentious and did the job nicely. They also supplied towels. They don't have WiFi though, but this didn't matter to me as I used my own data. If you're not bothered about staying in basic accommodation, then somewhere like Bankside is a great option.
C. R.Stayed overnight after attending a nearby function. Can't fault it. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. Our double room with TV was bright and airy, the bed very comfortable, and the en suite was clean with towels, washing gel and shampoo provided free of charge. There was also tea and coffee making facilities in the small lounge which formed part of the accommodation.
Of course, you have to remember that you are staying in student accommodation so it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for what's on offer and bearing in mind the location, you wouldn't get a better price.
My wife and I will definitely visit again.
J. R.Absolute bargain in an excellent spot, right opposite Tate modern. Basic student rooms that need updating, with simple frame beds that may not be the most comfortable for all but I slept well. Bedding clean and tea / coffee supply generous in room. Staff are really helpful and friendly, breakfast is better than a lot of upmarket hotels, it's fresh lots of cooked vegetarian options, fruit, yoghurt, cheese etc.

L. T.I was very pleased with LSE Bankside. They'll hold your bags if you get in early, strong wifi connection, some say rooms can be hot but mine was perfect. It is within minutes from the Thames and great food options surround the building.
It is a typical "dorm" styled room, but the sheets and towels were always clean. Again, for the price you pay everything was truly above what I expected.
My only two cons in the entire time I stayed was, the staff wasn't always that friendly. It definitely depended on who you talked to, but some of them could try and be a bit kinder. The second would be, that it wasn't as close to a tube stop as I would of liked. But again, for the price I was willing to sacrifice that!
Overall, VERY impressed with everything LSE Bankside had to offer and would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to London. I'd for sure stay again!
G. F.Cheap and cheerful. Really good location for the price. The rooms are very simple, literally the same you get as a student; no tv but you get tea making facilities. Staff on front desk were very cheerful, though the after 11pm security guards less so. The breakfast included in the rate is fantastic, a buffet with lots of choice! Only downsides: being student halls, it's very disorientating finding you room if like mine it was down lots of winding corridors; there's no drinking water taps in or near your room, you have to go to one of the communal kitchens on your floor; there was some mould in the shared bathroom but nothing too bad. The milk sachets were out of date in my room too which made lumpy tea. Not sure how often they are checked! For the price though this is bargain central city accommodation.
F. v. d. K.Affordable student type hotel. Not fancy but very decent rooms and a good choice for a low cost trip. Breakfast is very good with a wide choice for a traditional English breakfast as well as continental style. The hotel is just behind the Tate Modern museum and a 2 minute walk from the Millenium bridge which is a good starting point to explore the city.
S. H.I stayed here the past two nights as I had job training in London. It it quite basic but comfortable. The bathroom was shared with another room next to mine (this was not a problem as we were both doing the same training event). There was ample storage space if you were to unpack your bag, a kettle with some hot drink sachets, a desk and a lamp by the bedside. The covers provided were not the most comfortable but again, satisfactory. Breakfast was great! A wide selection of hot and cold food, fruits, pastries, hot and cold drinks. It was a buffet set up so you could go back for as much as you wanted. There is a bar/lounge downstairs and communal kitchens for drinking water on the floors. Good stay overall.

J. L.Had a amazing stay in Bankside House located just behind TATE MODERN as a summer B&B deal. The place was clean, unlimited breakfast- lovely; in the basement available laundry area with ironing facilities, six lifts getting You quickly to Your destination floor, magnificent views of London City. The only downfall preventing me from giving the maximum five star note was the kitchen facility- lack of access to available kitchens. Will definitely return again

However check in is at 3pm and check out at 10:30am which i think is for check in a little late and for check out a little too early. Other than that a very enjoyable stay.

W. S.the location was very convenient as it was very close to the south bank and a choice of three underground stations. The rooms were OK, it got very warm some night and I could not sleep. The beds weren't very comfortable. The shower was pretty good and the room in general was good. A decent breakfast including juice and hot drinks. Although the fruit options were very minimal. My main issue is that the showers are too noisey, when ever the people staying in the room next door took a shower it was very loud, and for some reason one night they decided to take showers at 12-1 am. However overall I enjoyed my stay.
M. T.If you need to stay in central London on a budget during the summer, Bankside House is an absolute bargain. As you would expect from student accommodation, it's pretty basic, but it's clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet isn't exactly gourmet, but it's tasty enough and there's plenty of hot and cold options as well as tea, coffee and juice – much better than other budget options I've tried. The free WiFi is top-notch, as you would expect from a university.
The biggest compromises: drinking water is a bit of a faff to get, as you have to track down the one unlocked kitchen on your floor. And the showers are tiny - expect to accidentally turn your shower off or change the temperature on a regular basis.

J.It's an Ok place to stay if you're a tourist or if you're here for informal business (and you're not at a senior position) Rooms are clean, spacious and if you do a 1-room shared bathroom it's actually pretty ok. You share it with only 1 other person. - The place seems like a refurbished student accommodations for tourists but it's actually very well located with nice places to eat nearby. Breakfast is simple but filling, ready for an active day around London
m. l.Pretty basic rooms for a good price right behind one of London's landmarks, Tate modern. Best location away from the masses with parking which is handy. I'd recommend this 'hotel'.
R. D.I wanted somewhere that was close enough to walk to the British Museum, handy to Waterloo station for my ongoing trip, and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Banks idea house fit the bill, but it is a college residence used as a hotel when there aren't classes. Don't expect fancy, but it is clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.

K. H.Clean and basic budget accommodation for a great price. If your looking for a somewhere to use as a base and a bed while you discover London this place is perfect. The price is really good for Zone 1 and breakfast is included. The building is right next to the Tate Modern and you can easily walk to other major tourist destinations, just bring sensible shoes! Take a stroll down to Southbank to take in the river and the city skyline. Breakfast has cooked options, pastries, yoghurt and fruit. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be booking again.
J. S.Basic, has private bed, shower, tv, toilet, linens and towels...SAFE. No hair dryer in the room, but ask, they may have it. It has a bar in the basement, and breakfast daily. Next to the Thames and walking distance to the London eye, museums and the underground train. Local convenience store, COOP, at the ready with everything.
If you can rent there, don't pay for more than you have to at a hotel with chocolates on the pillow.

University student accommodation made available for guests during holiday times. Under £150 for four persons per night, you can't argue with that. One bathroom/toilet. Four single beds. Breakfast included. Do NOT expect anything resembling luxury, though. Very basic basin and a rather poor shower. Towels provided. Parking £10 per night plus £20 per day.
Forget all these shortcomings when you spend the saved money on a posh meal or something!
O. N.This is normally a student housing estate but tduring the Summer they transform it into a low-budget hotel as most of the students are gone. First of all the location is great as this is pretty much in the center of London very close to London Bridge. Then the price is great, as this is not truly an hotel but only an hotel in the Summer, and this is the cheapest rate you will find in this area. Finally the place is decent, well maintained and secure. Great deal.

S. Y.Not at the city centre but walking distance to Southwark station is about 8-10 minutes. Located just next to the Tate Museum is an added bonus. The guesthouse is on the old side but in terms of price it is ok. Breakfast is fair with variety of food however the food list is repeated daily.

This is the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) dormitories which are only available July-Sept when they are not in session. The room we were given was spacious clean and had a private bath which is super nice.
Location, Location, Location!! This is the real win!! The location is excellent. Bankside is located on the Thames in the historic borough Southwark It's about a 7 minute walk from Blackfriars train station. Next door to the Tate Modern Center. Shakespeare Globe, Gail's, Paul's are all close by as well as Millennium Pedestrian Bridge. You are within walking distance to many great sights. Saint Paul's Cathedral. Saint Paul's Cathedral is where "Feed the Birds" from Disney's Mary Poppins was filmed. Near Saint Paul's Cathedral was the Big Bus hop on hop off tour.
We paid extra for Breakfast at the cafeteria. Lots of heavy food. Some of the items were sausage, beans, potatoes, yogurt, tomatoes, bacon, breads, eggs, jams, some fruit, juices, coffee and tea. Go early or you will wait in a long time. The place is usually full and busy.
Great amenities coin operated laundry room, a bar and free WIFI. House keeping is every three days. They provide towels, soap and shampoo, and linens for the beds which are made up.
The rooms are clean and safe. When you check in you will be given a room ID card (actually just a piece of paper) to check in with security and show at breakfast. You are supposed to carry this ID at all times.
G. R.Always stay here the Saturday night before the Sunday Firemen's Memorial Service at St Paul's, rooms are great and an excellent breakfast on the Sunday morning, don't expect 5 star luxury but no complaints here, a couple of minutes walk to the Thames and Millennium Bridge.

No frills, basic student room. We had ensuite comprising of toilet and shower. Shower was hard work- too small, water sprayed in all directions, however, it was plentiful and worked. Handwash, shampoo and towels provided (small towels, beware!).
Beds comfy. We werent disturbed by noise in the night either (on 7th floor). Curtains seen better days. Great location between Southwark and London Bridge stations on Jubilee Line, 5 mins walk to Borough Market. 20 to City Hall/Tower Bridge and, as everyone has said, right opposite Tate and near St Paul's. Breakfast great, couldn't fault it.
Left luggage free.
No telly in rooms bit free WiFi did the job for our devices.
Improve the shower and it would be 5 stars from us, not because it's the height of luxury, but because it's good value for money.

Breakfast was OK, nothing spectacular (croissants, chocolate buns, pancakes, fruit, yoghurt, porridge, veggie sausages, eggs, beans, toast, fresh coffee), but good enough. Found the room very comfortable and spacey. Walking distance (max. 30 mins) from London Bridge, London Eye, BFI IMAX, Tate Modern. Nice to walk along the southbank at night. Amazing value for money, would definitely visit again!!

R. T.I had the best experience here. The building almost burned down while I was sleeping. It was a bit of a fright but I would do it again. It is next to the Tate Modern which is one of the best museums ever. Good times ha ha. If you ever want to go into the kitchen, start practising holding your breath for 3 minutes at a time. I recommend underwater exercises for this. Start training at least 3 months in advance. I will link a training program for those who are interested. Living here made me the swimmer I am today. I can now swim 100m without taking a breath. Look out for me in the Olympics. I would look out for you too, but my head will be underwater. Ha ha am I a fish?
Once I got woken up by the sound of gunshots. Maybe they were fireworks. But you can never really be sure.

S.If you like staying in Uni dorms, go for it. But they're quite depressingly-basic rooms. Mine smelt a bit strange, too. Service and cleanliness was fine.

Номера приемлемого качества, хотя дизайн, мебель и пр. очевидно не новые. Но при этом ничего не сломано, все чисто и убрано. Еда разнообразная и достаточно вкусная.
Стоит иметь в виду, что это отель школы, и заселен он по большей части студентами. Это не недостаток, а скажем особенность.

Location: One of the best value for money in central London. It faces the South Bank, south of the River Thames, right behind the Tate Modern. (It's not a metaphor, it's really facing the Tate Modern!) Thanks to that, I was able to see Tate Modern's famous chimneys from my room throughout my 5 night stay. A 5-10 minute walk from the Tate Modern and Millennium Bridges, and a 15-20 minute walk along the river will lead to Shakespeare Globe, London City Hall and London Bridge. It was best to be able to stroll along the river every evening during my stay.
Nearby underground stations include Southwark, London Bridge and Blackfriars. All are 15 minutes walk for adults. On the first day of arrival, I got off at London Bridge Station and dragged a 25-inch suitcase, and it was easy to find because I only had to follow Southwark Street. (If the location is confused, it is easy to set your destination with Tate Modern and find the building behind it.) There are shopping malls around the hostel and there are Wagamama, Leon, Coop, and various pubs and restaurants, so it is convenient to eat. There are also Max & Spencer Simply Foods, Tesco and It's within 5-10 minutes on foot. Room: I booked a single room with shared bathroom, but upon arrival it was a private bathroom. It was a mistake by the staff, so it was easy to wash. The university dormitory is used as a b&b during student vacation, so the rooms are basically clean and large. There are up to the 8th floor, but it seems that there are more than 20 rooms on only one floor. Two types of bath towels and face towels were provided for free, and housekeeping seemed to be done once every two days.
For reference, the room was spacious for the price, so there was plenty of space left in my room with a wardrobe, a small wardrobe, and a desk + bookcase + chair.

가까운 지하철역으로는 서더크 역(Southwark), 런던 브릿지(London Bridge), 블랙프라이어스(Blackfriars)가 있습니다. 모두 성인 기준 도보 15분입니다. 도착 첫 날 런던 브릿지 역에 내려서 25인치 캐리어를 끌고 갔는데, 서더크 스트리트만 쭉 따라가면 돼서 찾기 쉬웠습니다. (위치가 헷갈리면 테이트모던으로 목적지 설정 후 그 뒷 건물을 찾으면 쉽습니다) 숙소 주위에 상가 건물이 있고 거기에 와가마마, 레온, 코옵, 각종 펍과 레스토랑이 입점해있어서 식사하기에도 편리합니다. 도보 5~10분 내외로 막스 앤 스펜서 심플리 푸드, 테스코, 잇츠 등도 있습니다. 한 마디로 위치 깡패이면서 1박 5~6만원에 싱글룸을 사용할 수 있는 최고의 가성비 입니다.
근처에 버스 정류장도 여럿 있어서 저는 citymapper 앱을 사용해서 버스 위주로 이동해 다녔습니다. 버스로 15분이면 웨스트민스터 및 트라팔가 지역에 도착할 수 있습니다.
객실: 공용 욕실을 사용하는 싱글룸(Single room with shared bathroom)으로 예약했는데, 정작 도착해보니 개별 욕실이었습니다. 직원의 착오였는지, 편하게 씻을 수 있었습니다. 대학 기숙사를 학생들 방학 기간에 b&b로 사용하는 것이다보니, 기본적으로 객실은 깨끗하고 수가 많습니다. 8층까지 있는데 한 층에만 객실이 스무 여 개는 족히 넘었던 것 같네요. 목욕타월과 세면타월 2종을 무료로 지급하고, 하우스키핑은 이틀에 한 번 꼴로 해줬던 것 같습니다.
참고로 객실이 가격 대비 넓은 편이어서 제가 쓴 방에는 옷장, 작은 옷장, 책상+책장+의자가 있고도 충분히 공간이 남았습니다.
욕실 및 화장실: 욕실과 화장실이 함께 있으며, 샤워 부스가 따로 있진 않고 중간에 샤워커튼이 설치되어 있습니다. 수압 및 온냉수 잘 나옵니다. 대학 기숙사인만큼 외관이 조금 허름하긴 하지만, 기능에는 문제 없었습니다. 매일매일 깨끗하게 샤워하기에 충분합니다.

조식: 기본적으로 조식이 포함되어있고 호평을 받는 걸로 압니다만, 원래 영국요리는 맛이 없다는 걸 잊어서는 안 됩니다...... 전형적인 영국식 아침 식사 메뉴로 부페식이기 때문에 배는 양껏 채울 수는 있습니다. 다만 맛은 잘 모르겠습니다. 튀긴 메뉴가 너무 많고 소시지나 베이컨에서도 잡내가 나는 편입니다. 그렇지만 이건 런던에 체류하면서 먹은 요리들의 공통 사항이니 딱히 이 숙소의 문제라고 할 수는 없을 것 같기도 합니다.

Naja sie sagte als ob du so viel essen kannst schau dich mal an. Und hat mir meinen Teller weggenommen und als ich mir einen neuen holte meinte sie das selbe zu machen und mich dann noch sehr schön beim vorbei gehen zu Ramen. Danke dafür. Kann meine Schulter nicht ganz bewegen aber ok. Das ist echt unerhört und ich werde genau wegen dieser Servicekraft dort nicht mehr hingehen.
