We have had a wonderful stay in this hotel, great room, great location and great staff. Michael (night staff) was an absolute star-nothing was too much trouble, attended to our needs, was so friendly, welcoming and an absolute credit to the Malmaison team! Thank you Michael for making our stay that little bit more special x

Beautiful hotel right in Charterhouse Square. Great area for getting around. Very comfy bed and lovely views over the square. Super staff, very helpful. Good food too! We loved our room and the mid century design is right up our street! Very spacious rooms with fantastic showers! Will definitely come again. Thanks for a great stay.

Overall the combination of price, location, cleanliness, friendly staff and attractive accommodation made this an excellent stay. We stayed there for the Ironman competition and the staff was really accommodating. Only 7 minutes to the beach and few blocks to great restaurants and shopping. It’s great and better value/ambiance than meridian and other big hotels on the promenade

Very nice boutique hotel. Lovely decor and furnishings . Friendly and helpful service and even tho being in the centre of London the room was quiet. It was our second stay and would happily visit again.
There is a lot about sustainability and eco credentials in the bathroom however the breakfast contained a lot wastage with everything individually wrapped in plastic which was a shame.

My wife and I booked a room here last minute at the end of July - we arrived and the hotel was very quiet along with most of London (we assumed that since Covid restrictions had not been reduced for long that they were at most 1/4 full).
Breakfast was relaxed with plenty of space, so again we assumed they were mainly empty.
On checking out we overheard the receptionist discussing how full they were - turns out nearly 100% occupancy.
To achieve the quiet, relaxed, laid back elegance we experienced while being full to capacity is truly exceptional - we will certainly be back in future.
The room was fantastic with the minor exception that the 'waterfall' feature on the shower could not be used without soaking the floor and the staff could not have been more helpful - thank you for a fantastic weekend.

Perfect hotel in a secluded, quiet part of London but just 20 minutes walk to Covent Garden. Spacious, well decorated rooms with a huge bed.
S. F.
Great location, and very comfortable luxury suite room. Slightly neglected with paint peeling in the bathroom and let down by faux brick wallpaper. Although advertised as 24hour room service, no answers at 10.30 pm so likely understaffed as well. However this would be a 5 out of 5 if staffing and minor touch up improvements.

We booked as it was close to an event that we were attending. We had such a wonderful stay. We travel often and have to say the team at Malmaison absolutely went above and beyond. The gentleman who checked us in when we arrived Friday evening and served us drinks Saturday night was such a credit to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble. And the breakfast waitress was soo lovely. Fantastic service, beautiful hotel. I would definitely recommend.
C. O.
Amazing place with great food but felt judged by one member of staff, the rest of the team were so accommodating.

Stopped here for an early dinner. Very quiet. Food was delicious and the Korean chicken wings were fantastic. I'll return to Malmaison just for them.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, decent sized rooms, comfortable and well appointed. Situated in a nice quiet location. During the pandemic, breakfast and meals were delivered room service. The staff were helpful when I requested a change to the breakfast items. Recommended, and I would definitely consider staying here again when next in London.

Nice and comfortable hotel, I had an enjoyable stay (the room was spaceous, clean and I was fortunate enough to get nice views). The receptionist who managed my stay, Vincent, was also welcoming, helpful and professional. I would happily stay here again.

Beautiful hotel, A/C, hairdryer, everything and a gorgeous comfy bed 🛌 😴 ♥

Easily one of my favourite spots to stay in central. Continually high level of service, great food, comfortable beds and all delivered at a competitive price. Try their barrel-aged Negroni!

Lovely, only had a coffee here but lovely restaurant and atmosphere
M. M.
Sorry i only parked outside to go to a restaurant 10 meters away...but it looked nice from the outside ??

Its such a nice hotel. Just this time my room was small and i didn't like the interior so much. Maybe i was lucky last time when i got really a bigger room. Staff is really friendly. right now with Corona its difficult because not much is open. really a putty it takes its charme away a bit

This hotel does everything right - I don’t think I’ve had a more comfortable experience. The rooms are spacious and well furnished. The bed was really comfortable. The bathroom and showers are beautiful and modern. The cleaning service was impressive.
They get all the details right - refilling snacks and drinks each day, fast internet, good lighting, huge windows to let in light but also complete blackout curtains if you want to sleep in, a closet that lights up when you open it... I could go on and on. Highly recommend.
R. T.
The Hotel was so nice, not so close to the Center so we did not have a lot of Restaurants and bars around. But it did not matter for us.
The rooms where quite big, nice furniture but poorly soundproofed. And the room we had was 109 in front of the window there is a restaurant and on that friday we where there, it was a bit loud outside so you not really fall asleep. The bar at the Hotel was good. The Amaretto sour was just great, almost the best i had! :)
L. C.
Lovely brasserie, went here for Sunday brunch, nice selection of starters, main course I chose beef burger and fries, it was a big portion (huge burger). For an extra £15 added unlimited prosecco 🤭. Staff were very attentive without being intrusive, very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended!

Really impressive hotel from the outside, with a little park area out front. The reception area looked very stylish and the staff were really helpful. From the elevator onward the hotel had 'mood lighting', which could also be described as dingy, certainly 'light and airy' is not how to describe this hotel. The room was modern and stylish, though showing a bit of age in the bathroom. The shower was impressive, if a bit in need of tlc round the edges. The room was 'cosy', 'compact' but definitely would have been claustrophobic if i brought my other half. Breakfast was in a lovely dining space downstairs, the pastries were nice but not amazing. Overall, for london it was pretty good value.

Booked a meeting room for a baby shower brunch. Working with the manager wasn't pleasant. She didn't communicate enough. I had to follow up so many times. On the day things worked out fine. We went for the bottomless brunch option and the food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Their venue is great for hire but I will say that's just about it.

I stayed in this hotel for one night and I got a free upgrade, ending up in a very nice and large room on the 6th floor. The room was really cozy and had a coffee machine and a kettle. Unfortunately it was pretty cold so I had to ask for an additional heater. The staff was very nice and helpful but nevertheless the room was very cold even in the morning. I mentioned it at the reception the morning after my stay, and a couple of hours after I left the hotel I got an email from the manager who was offering me free breakfast and upgrade on my next stay. A very good customer experience.

Decent hotel with quirky vibe. Nice breakfast and comfortable rooms. The decor is bit too smug and self-satisfied, and the hotel itself is not brilliantly located for the usual tourist spots, so it loses a star for that. But if you want to lose yourselves in a hotel room and you're not that bothered about going out and about, it'll do just nicely – and it's fairly inexpensive for what it is, even with the (recommended) upgrade to the larger double. Friendly staff, too.

Great hotel to stay for a few nights especially on a business trip.
Rooms are tidy and not too small. Beds could be a bit bigger but unfortunately most hotels in the area seem to have rather short beds.
Reception and service overall are top. Very friendly and also trying their best to fulfill special wishes.
Area is also nice with a lot of restaurants and pubs in walking distance.

I'm always happy with food in this place and service sometimes..but today I had a both .... well done
B. C.
I stayed here for a night while on business. The hotel was quirky and different while maintaining a high standard of quality finish. The room was lovely and clean and the only thing I would say as a negative was the dressing gown had a lipstick stain that that had been washed but didn't come out. That was the extent of the downside. The place was great and I would recommend it highly.
R. V.
Well decorated and nicely presented interiors. Room size was spacious, all the facilities functioning properly, staff very helpful except bar staff, who I thought could have considered offering a fast service given we were a party of about 15. Breakfast staff was very helpful. Apt for the price.
C. B.
The facilities, the room and the staff are good. Friendly people and good service, 24h desk as well so late check-in was no problem (the main road to the entrance will be blocked at night though). However, an alarm went off in the middle of the night which was quite annoying. Also, the room didn't 100% match our booking.
A. W.
Everything about our stay from the hotel, its rooms the staff and even the breakfast we had during the covid restrictions! Highly recommended.
A. W.
Beautiful and quiet location with well appointed rooms. Front of house staff were welcoming and helpful on our early arrival. They kindly accommodated my request for a change of room to face the park. Breakfast was very enjoyable and staff very friendly. All in all a very good stay and would highly recommend. Looking forward to my next visit.

Stayed for a week - great boutique hotel situated in a nice quiet location. A decent selection of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Room was clean and spacious. Restaurant and bar downstairs weren't too bad. The gym was in a very small room with two pieces of cardio equipment - so a little disappointing. Impressed with overall trendy vibe of the hotel and helpful staff.

Booked team Xmas Lunch and was given private dining room which was a nice touch! Service was excellent and friendly. Food arrived promptly, good portion sizes. Mixed reviews on the food from our group but overall good quality. Prices for wine varied greatly so it's worth double checking!
H. H.
Luxurious, clean, great service, surrounded by history. On the corner of Smithfields with lots of bars and restaurants not far away. 30 minute walk from West end. In house restaurant lovely. No road noise as off main road. Rooms are modern and beds are super comfy

I visited here with my girlfriend on Sunday 23rd February. We had a wowcher for the meal. I think we only saved £10 vs normal menu price.
Still. The place was lovely and clean. Friendly staff. I think the waiter forgot to process our mains and the other waiter came to ‘double check’ what we ordered. It wasn’t a bad thing though as the hor d’oeuvres are buffet style... and I ate a nice portion.
We ordered wine with the lunch which was quite nice.

Malmaison used to be our chain of choice for a romantic getaway (without needing a mortgage). For a number of years a few of their properties got 'refurbished' and lost their opulence or didn't get refurbished and got scruffy.
Thankfully I would say Charterhouse squares Malmaison is a reflection of the chain getting back to its best. The room was decorated in a quirky manner, the bed was massive and comfortable and rain shower awesome. We didn't eat at the restaurant (which seems to be the source of the lower quality reviews), but the continental breakfast was very good and the presentation quirky. We shall definitely return and us the chain again as they offer unique hotels at an acceptable price (most of the time).
A. P.
The food was divine but unfortunately the service was poor and we were cold throughout our stay. When people went outside to smoke you could smell that too. We were served by three different people but one of whom promised that our late coffee arrival would be complementary (we ordered these at the start because we were cold - but ended up having them at the end) and disappointingly the bill showed otherwise.

Excellent Room!clean tidy amazing waterfall shower!downside the fridge wasent cold.Staff were 100%looked after us&my dog Wilfred! Nothing was to much trouble.Marie was excellent as was all the staff.we will be back soon.

Excellent hotel. Clean, up to date rooms with USB sockets by the bed for night-time phone charging! Lovely bar and restaurant, with a beautiful cooked, non-buffet, breakfast. Staff were polite, efficient and friendly.
I would definitely stay here again.
J. W.
The location of the hotel was very convenient as it's close to Barbican station. The room was large and very comfortable. However there is no toothbrush or hairdryer available and the fan in the bathroom did not turn off at all during the night and was very loud. Overall my visit was very comfortable.
E. &. B. M.
We had a very lovely romantic weekend away for two. The room was lovely and comfortable. Plus the staff were professional, friendly and amenable. We would absolutely love to stay again soon.
R. B.
Managed to check in early around 1230 which was handy but initially was turned away. Check-in staff were friendly and efficient. Offered chance to upgrade to a club room for £30 which was tempting and would have taken up if we were planning to spend longer in the room. Room was clean and well appointed. Would have liked a towel rail in the bathroom and conditioner included as part of the amenities.
s. t.
First impression - loved the decor! The hotel was beautiful. Unfortunately, the room we were given wasn't completely clean. The bathroom was already dirty upon arrival. It looked like someone just used it before we got in. Also, the grey accent blanket they had on the bed was dirty as well. It had, what felt like crumbs on it? But, we checked in so late and were checking out early the next day for our flight, we decided that our stay was too short to bother complaining and requesting another room. Won't be booking again if we return to London.
F. F.
The hotel staff and service in overall is really good. The hotel decorations is really nice kind of weird but in a good way. The amenities could be better and newer. The breakfast buffet is small with not that many options but the products they serve are really good.
R. D.
The food was good but the service was comical.
We went for lunch using a voucher and enjoyed our visit a lot.
The food was good and worth the money but the service was "interesting".
None of the wait staff seemed particularly well trained. Several times we had to repeat our requests for drinks as the order had been forgotten. The vegetables for my partner's main course arrived five minutes after the rest of the dish and only then because we asked for them. The server had forgotten about them entirely.
When items ran out in the buffet it took the attendant server a while to figure out that he should probably replace them and then a little while longer to actually do it!
In spite of this we had a good time and actually found the service issues funny. We were lucky that the prices were low because of the voucher we had and that we weren't in any great rush so we could afford to take a relaxed view of things.
I'm not sure I would go again, and I certainly wouldn't want to pay full price but I definitely enjoyed myself, if not always for the right reasons!

We stayed overnight and also ate at the restaurant.
The room was very nice, very comfortable bed and everything you could possibly need. The hotel itself was in a nice quiet area (we stayed on a Sunday)
The restaurant was outstanding, very nice food and drinks but superceded by the amazing staff and front of house manager, the manager was very attentive and made sure everything was as we wanted.
Very impressed, will be returning
M.
Afternoon tea for two package was fun, nice cocktail and good earl gray tea. Fair go at a gluten free version as well (see pic, also included scone not shown). Staff left us to it a bit, but service was otherwise fine.
B. O.
It’s ok. The rooms are a bit tacky and kind of late 2000s style but of decent size for London, the food is better than expected and it’s clean and well maintained. The bar crowd is not particularly interesting and remind me of Foxtons estate agents wearing polyester peacoats and NEXT suits high fiving each other so unless you’re into that maybe check out the surrounding places in the area if you want to have a quiet drink.

We stayed at Malmaison London. Fantastic location, great value for a quality hotel. Great night's sleep, immaculately clean room. Service needs to improve. Did not feel valued/welcome by most members of staff (one receptionist was excellent though).
B. B.
A very nice casual hotel in the heart of London, staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel rooms are well maintained and clean, in room services are nice with the option to add additional services. Hotel gym is small but the equipment is all new and clean as well as well maintained. The food from Chez Mal is tasty and very enjoyable
J. W.
Good boutique hotel in a great location, Malmaison Charterhouse Sq is reasonably priced for London. I've stayed here many times and it's been consistently good each time. The rooms are all different shapes and sizes (6th floor is best) and some are quite quirky. The beds are on the soft side but very comfortable.
Cabs can find it awkward to reach the door, so you may end up running across the square to find your cabbie. The rooms can be cold, especially in Autumn and Winter, you'll feel the chill coming through the windows. The restaurant is above average but there's a Gaucho steak place just around the corner if you fancy something better.

It is a pleasure to give Malmaison full marks for the brunch/lunch we've just had in their basement restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, amazing selection of cold appetizers, delicious main course of grilled pork, and fabulous array of puddings, including traditional favorites like treacle tart and apple crumble. Great value too! What made it all particularly enjoyable was the friendly and attentive service, in particular from Dario who made us feel like truly valued customers and kept us entertained throughout the meal. We'll be back for more!
M. S.
Absolutely wonderful staff who could not do more to make our stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. Something not quite right in the room - this was dealt with quickly and professionally. Room was cool and bed really comfy.
K.
Reasonable price paid for quality of room and really liked the area as a lot of bars and restaurants near. No early check in available which was a shame and seems to be a recurring theme on reviews. Some tables in lobby if you want to work but not really suitable. Lounge bar was not open at any point as a function daytime and evening. There's a bar downstairs which was modern and had a good range. We were there midweek and was going to have a lie in but no chance with a massive building site next door, not warned when booking or at reception. Cosy is exactly that so if booking ensure you are ok with just a double bed.
S. K. D.
The best afternoon tea out there. It most definitely beat mad hatter and most of the ones I have been to. We were greeted and felt a warmness from beginning to the end. In particular Iva who looked after our table. Her service was prompt and professional and she made sure everything ran smoothly. I would 100% recommend and will be visiting again.
S.
Rooms are confie and clean, but the breakfast included is very limited to say the least. For 260 GBP per night I got a room with no window looking outside, having no daylight and unacceptably slow internet that I needed for work. Did not find it worth the money, especially for business.
S. M.
Stayed for one night on a work trip. Checking in took a little longer than I would like as the boss was paying on his card and wasn't present. This meant I needed to get him to complete a third party authorisation form over email. Other than that, it was a good stay. Comfortable bed, clean spacious room and a good shower (good range of temperatures and no pressure issues). The included TV was of a good size and included some Sky channels such as sports and Sky Atlantic on top of freeview. Lots of chargeable snacks and drinks left around the room to try tempt you. I just stuck to the included tea and coffee. Would happily stay again.
M. A.
Very well designed hotel. Not your typical Marriott or something like that. The park in front of it is really nice. Not to mention it's really close by barbican station. Also not to far from the museum. 12 minutes walk to London Stock Exchange. I really recommend staying in this hotel, especially with their competitive prices.
D. O.
Lovely hotel, we had a great stay! Friendly and helpful Reception staff and the breakfast was excellent. I had the Eggs Benedict and my partner had the Big Mal Breakfast. So glad we chose to stay here, will be back soon for sure
S.
I booked the bar area for a private function at lunch time. The staff were incredibly helpful and keen to make our day special. Food was tasty and we had a wide variety of dishes
C. K. M.
Went there last Saturday with my boyfriend to have an afternoon tea for my birthday. The food was delicious however the all experience was ruined by the poor service. We arrived 10 minutes before our booking and were told to sit in the waiting area (nothing wrong at this point). A group of 4 arrived 10-15 minutes later and yet were taken to their table right away, served and taken cared of before us. There was 3 waiters on the day and somehow they all decide to congregate around that group leaving us hanging. We asked to receive our champagne before the food arrive and were told that the food will be served in 10-15minutes, we ended up having to wait for the champagne for 10 minutes. There were 6 people dining in total so there is nothing that can explain why the service was slow and most of all that we were taken cared of last even though we were there first.
S. T.
Perfect for dates, meetings, weekend getaway. Inclusive of bar, restaurant, spa facilities. I filmed a documentary here in one of the boardrooms in the past, staff were very friendly, cleanliness was a 8/10, very peaceful location. Easy to find as it was under a 10 minute walk to the nearest tube station.
I'd definitely return again.
M. S.
We went here for dinner and overall, the service and food was really nice. BUT and there’s a big bUt... if you’re getting a vegan option do NOT get the beetroot wellington. I’m not lying when I say it was smaller than a Greggs sausage roll... in fact... half a Greggs sausage roll at the most. It was also £12. I was very disappointed. Don’t give measly portion sizes please!
M. A.
Tidy little rooms and friendly staff. Really nice location, too, set back from the main roads so it's nice and quiet. The restaurant does a decent breakfast. The shampoo and shower gel are my favourites among the hotels I stay at in London!
S. K.
Had a tasty meal in the brasserie here, there is a veggie option of the pea and mint risotto. It was filling and satisfying, with a generous portion. Although it was a lot of a single thing to eat since it's just one big thing. Had a meal as part of a package deal they offer where we had a double suite, meal and a bottle of wine for two, for about £100 which was quite reasonable. They have really nice toiletries in the bathroom, but no robes etc which unusual.

Superb Hotel and Restaurant!
My husband and I booked the Hotel for our Anniversary we were thoroughly spoilt. All the staff were amazing as was the Sunday lunch, great value for such amazing food! A special thanks to Ricardo the Restaurant Manager who looked after us throughout the weekend.
Well done Malmaison London!

perfect location and had a great weekend stay.
The restaurant downstairs was better than I thought it would be, my husband and I had a great time.

From check in to check out the whole experience at the Malmaison Hotel in London was outstanding. The quite cobbled road leading to the entrance was lovely and on entering the reception area, I found it was welcoming, smart and clean. The service in the restaurant was superb. Attentive (but not too full on) waiting staff, the food was fantastic, the ambience calming and serene and the whole thing just glorious.
The room I had (I was on my own) was a 'cosy double' and I had the best night sleep for ages. The room was quiet and air conditioned - much needed at the time of my stay- it was sumptuously furnished, spotless and absolutely silent. It felt SO wonderful, and I certainly felt secure and safe. It is in a part of London I didn't know too well and about a 2 minutes walk from Barbican tube station. The whole stay was just fabulous. I walked into central London the next morning (after a late check out, which is a real treat) but I would suggest going by tube. It is a long way. The guy on reception did advise me not to and I should have listened. I would definitely go again and I can recommend it to anyone. Thank you for such a gorgeous stay.
J.
Stayed here after a Garage night at Fabric a few weeks ago. This was a the perfect spot to stumble back to at 6am. The room was nice and had 2 televisions which seemed a little overkill but why not.
It's on a quiet little street with a park opposite, that's probably irrelevant but i'm trying to paint a picture. 5 minute walk to Barbican tube. Right next door to a Tesco Supermarket, which is not 24/7 despite what the woman told me, much to my disappointment when i needed a late night sandwich and headache tablets after cutting shapes on Fabrics dance floor.

Extremely beautiful & luxury rooms for a London Hotel. Hotels are very expensive in London. So if you are staying here consider yourself rich :D
Also includes English breakfast downstairs at their restaurant which provides yummy pan cakes & waffles. Very friendly staff at the reception.
C. D.
Location was good for what we wanted. Our room was lovely, very spacious with a nice window and drink making facilities. The hotel seemed to lack atmosphere but generally a nice hotel.
M. C.
The rooms are pretty good value for central London. I used the restaurant before going out on a Friday and they had a live DJ in the bar area - which created a really cool atmosphere to have a few drinks before going out in to town to celebrate my birthday with friends.
S. M.
The rooms are amazing, book in advance from the special offers page and get great discounts. Situated perfectly from two tube stations making it easy to get to and from. The staff are always lovely and the hotel is stylish and modern.
N. P.
Having noise from a building site directly outside our room at 8am on Saturday put a slight dampener on our 'relaxing night away'... A heads up from the staff would have been nice, it can hardly be news to them. Otherwise, nice room, comfy bed, typically Malmaison.
I. R.
I absolutely love malmaison. I never book anywhere else. I love the aesthetic, the price, the packages, the restaurant and bar, the amenities and all the little things included with the room. They really take good care of me and are flexible with payments. Also for the holiday seasons the decor is sublime. Bookings for events are easy and well-received. To me malmaison is an all-star! ❤️

Lovely atmosphere, food was faultless. Best piece of fish I've eaten in years. well done guys

We came here for a meal for 4 with friends.
Enjoyed a 3 course meal . It was quiet but superb food. I enjpyed every course
The waiters were friendly and helpful and gave great recommendations. Was really nice.
Jason and Chris were fab! Thanks guys
Food was good tasty and im happy i came here tonight

Staff are amazing, well priced, had a lovely note from the hotel which just made the stay a bit more personal.
Nice bars around the hotel but the hotel is on a quite square so good for a good night sleep, wish I could give the Mal London more than 5 stars! Would highly recommend!

We have just returned from a Saturday night stay at London MalMaison. We had the best stay. Room was nice and comfortable with everything you need. The staff were very welcoming and attentive in Particular Ricardo, he is without doubt their best asset!! He made sure everything about our stay was perfect. Food in the Brasserie was top notch.
Couldn't fault a thing, definitely be going back, soon I hope!

Been here a few times and the service and food have always been excellent. Went most recently for the £49 chateau briand & bottle of Malbec wine for 2 people offer - it was really excellent value, and filling enough for us not to need a dessert. Would recommend this place.
m. w.
Great place, it never fails to impress me. Friendly and attentive service . Sunday buffet is fantastic... the cold appetisers my fav. Always refilled and beautifully presented. It's always my place to come to meet friends or family.
N. H.
Nice hotel, very comfortable, and lovely decor. Only problem we had was that the first room they put us in had a sewage smell and the AC wasn't working and we had to wait almost an hour yo get into our new room.
A. A.
Incredibly comfortable bed, wow. All the rooms have a pretty theme, staff are very professional.
Great location also
Only negative is that the service in the restaurant below was beyond slow and staff weren't very knowledgeable. We would have sent half the food back had we not been ravenously hungry by the time it arric9
L. S.
We had drinks at the bar downstairs. It's quiet with a good atmosphere and plenty of seating. Thursday's there is happy hour on house cocktails and spirits. A good option if you want to avoid packed other places in the Farringdon area.
A. M.
I had the pleasure of Sunday lunch here today. Starter was a buffet of salads and cold meats, we went up twice to help ourselves. I had the roast pork. It came out on a plate with a big Yorkshire pudding and few pieces of meat and a light jus. It looks small but remember that you have just had access to a pretty high end buffet AND the vegetables were all on the side so came in an additional dish. A good selection of vegetables too - Carrots, parsnips, broccoli, cabbage and potatoes. There was plenty enough to fill me up.
At about £20 per head this was a bargain
D. P.
Great service, comfy beds, well located. Room on the small side but fine. Breakfast was ok but not amazing. Overall a lovely stay.
S. R.
Tiny hotel close to metro station.
Pros:
Clean rooms
Friendly staff
Cons:
Small rooms,
Expensive for the room size,
Easy to confuse the place as its also a restaurant, upon arrival we were not sure if this is really a hotel,
During night they close the gates in the neighborhood so coming back can be tricky.
Overall ok, but nothing special.
A. S.
I was lucky enough to stay at the Malmaison Clerkenwell - an elegant hotel that, despite being part of a national chain, manages to be quirky and interesting. The cocktails at the basement bar were pretty decent (highly recommend the Marmalade Cocktail) and I couldn't fault the food or wine in the cosy and romantic restaurant. It's certainly not a budget option but the prices were consistent with other restaurants in the area. Highlight had to be the service, which was consistently friendly and helpful without being overbearing. And I haven't even mentioned the room! Loved the super soft mattress (I didn't want to leave that bed anytime soon) and the chocolate-coated strawberries waiting for us were a nice touch, but the hotel's proximity to the noisy Smithfield Market meant that I was up from 6am. If you're a light sleeper, bear that in mind. All in all, it's definitely somewhere I'd recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay.
H. H.
We had a bad experience when we first came for afternoon tea that I won't go into, but when I called and explained they offered me another tea free of charge. They certainly redeemed themselves the second time around. Delicious food and decent service.
F. D.
I stayed here for 2 nights last month, was attracted by the fact it is an old nurses home and have stayed in Malmaison chain before. It was nice but not nice enough to justify the cost. Stayed in a standard twin which was nice but a little shabby in parts.
M. &. F. B.
Nice restaurant but the venue makes most the job rather than the food. The dishes were good but too expensive for what it was. Their best meat was a bit chewy. The wine was correct but I am definitely not used to seeing bottle of wine with screw-top in “upper class” restaurant.
I understand people can like but I think we can find better for lower price
P. T.
We upgraded to in the best suite in this hotel, room 602 on the top floor for a weekend stay in the London Malmaison near the Barbican tube.
The bathroom includes a freestanding bath and large waterfall shower with a floor to ceiling glass enclosure.
There is a large 55" LCD TV, dvd player & Bluetooth speaker opposite the comfortable king size bed with a minibar refrigerator and expresso machine.
Tea and coffee was complimentary. But we weren't sure about the minibar prices or the part filled bottles of gin so we didn't touch them.
Other facilities included full air conditioning, windows you can open, an iron, ironing board, keypad safe & hair dryer.
The was also a small desk with telephone and notepad.
The room was top class, quiet and comfortable, one of the best we have stayed in, with unique artistic touches that set it above the Hilton, Radisson Blu + typical 4 star hotel rooms.
Breakfast was tasty but rather frugal for a Full English.
Overall it was the customer service that let this Malmaison down and would put me off booking again.
On Fridays they have a promo offer on mal cocktails: £5 until 8pm - I rushed down to the bar at 7.52pm hoping to order 4 cocktails to share with our friends, but on ordering the barman at the ground floor bar said I was too late! In a curt manner with no apologies or alternatives. I just returned to the room and we all left for drinks in Soho instead.
We pre-requested a late checkout and received a confirmation email on the £53. Fee. - but when asking at reception we were repeatedly told it was £15. per hour if the room isn't booked, and 3 pm was the latest we could keep the room if we confirm now.
I said I understand but when could we have an answer on 6pm so we can arrange our departure? I was just told 3 pm was the latest... I said I'd confirm later.
We finally had a note slipped under our door on our day of departure to confirm checkout at 6pm that we had requested when booking!?!?
So 3 stars for service 5 stars for the room
I've felt more welcome at an Ibis Styles.
W. S.
Stylish hotel with exception as l staff. The hotel room was rather large and contained midcentury furniture and free espresso. The accommodations were better than my other stays in London. Also the wifi was free which was unexpected!
D. O.
Fantastic hotel just by the quietest part of central London and right near London underground station too 5 min walk. Couldn't fault the service from staff very help, bonus was we arrived just before noon and were able to check in. Close to various bars and restaurants highly recommend staying. We were on the 4th floor and it was super quiet no noise at all in anyway either outside or on the floor itself, room had a mini bar and fridge, however if u don't want to pay high prices there's a Tesco around the corner get the drinks in and into the fridge to cool 😊
C. M.
Trendy rooms, nice hotel and would stay again. The only downside was the breakfast which was limited, bland and took a long time to arrive after ordering. Would skip that and just walk down the road and grab something else next time.
A. H.
Had a one night stay here and although small the rooms are excellent with usual amenities and more. The staff were excellent and really attentive. Highly recommended.
J. D.
Lovely hotel and rooms,, very close to Smithfield Market and the barbican.
Stayed here as it was a convenient location for a restaurant with were visiting., would stay again if attending a concert at the barbican as there were some lovely independent restaurants close.
Our room was large, with a huge tv, kettle, coffee machine. Plenty of storage. Room didn't have a work area. But a nice seating area for a glass of wine before going out.
C. M.
Very enjoyable evening. Interesting food, nice atmosphere and delightfully attentive staff
M.
Used to go to host Parti dinners. Loved the place and the atmosphere. I will
be back for sure. Lovely rooms and great restaurant!
M. A.
Food was great. Host and servers were very nice. We'll go back definitely.
J. D.
Varied menu with something to suit everyone. Very reasonable wine list. The food was amazing.
D. T.
There for " cinema club" trip a friend organised, met in the bar downstairs, it's adjacent to a dining space the whole area is black and a bit soulless but there are a few cool touches like a long neon sign behind the bar and and an old style cinema letters board with amusing slogans on. Drinks were standard fare for a hotel and not overly expensive for the city.
A. D.
This place is great; near tons of good bars and my fave club—Fabric. Also extra points to one of the staff members for offering to make me coffee at 5am before I hopped on a long train ride to the airport.
v. n.
Fantastic New Years Eve dinner at the Malmaison hotel .Food ambience and sleeping accommodation could not be faulted . Special thank you to Emmanuel and Jason for their care and attention throughout our stay . Highly recommend the hotel and the historic Charterhouse Square for this unique experience in London
L. C.
The room was clean, trendy and well stocked. The location was perfect. The staff presented with a smile. We highly recommend!
E. s.
Service is quite slow but the Sunday brunch is excellent, really great starters selection and the roasts are really good which makes up for it
C. R.
Decent hotel, getting a little tired and in need of a refresh, but the team were great, helpful and friendly. Breakfast to the room was underwhelming and over priced. Just go to a local coffee shop
B. J.
Great location, average food and lackluster service. Once was a great place for brunch, now a shadow of its former self.
L.
Fabulous room. High quality furnishings. Hotel bar is excellent and very tastefully decorated. Would love to come back.
R. P.
Great place for an afternoon tea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was a delight. The pricing structure was reasonable and good value for money.
B. W.
Not worth paying more for this than you would a premier Inn, comfortable and clean but nothing special. A lot of work being done outside our window so woken up at 8am. Breakfast was nice but again certainly not work £15.
I.
Comfortable and quiet room in an upmarket hotel. Central London pricing, so hardly cheap, but very luxurious with an upscale modern hipster vibe. I will be back!
L. V.
One of the best places for a burger in London. The stack burger is a mammoth and the foie gras topping is absolute perfection. The service is great if a little pressured. Great place for foodies on a first date. The cocktails are good quality but nothing spectacular. Great for dinner or special occasions. One of the few hotels i would visit for an evening meal #GoogleGoesPOP
L. M.
Was there for a company function. Not told until the day that the foyer, directly outside the room we had hired, was also hired out to a large group at the same time meaning when we went to the restaurant for the morning break we had to navigate through a large group of people.
R. P.
Great location booked my girls and friends here as part of 'Hen' party celebrations. Nice rooms and well looked after by staff. Well recommended!!!
E. B.
Food was lovely service was ok and nice presentation. The only downfall was a few items was over salty.
I. T.
Great hotel top location and reasonable parking. Excellent
S. B.
Had amazing brunch: unlimited starters (enough for a full proper meal) and great Sunday roast & huge dessert and unlimited prosecco. Unfortunately the service was a bit sub-par: they didn't have our booking (even though booked weeks ago) which is fine but they took 45 mins to "set up" a table for us when the restaurants had 80% tables free...the staff were nice but got our bill wrong twice sigh. Anyway, nice restaurant, food, atmosphere
A. D.
Lovely in every way. The location, the bed, the staff. I ordered pastries and a coffee mid morning and they kindly treated me to them. I'll be back as soon as possible!
S. K.
Plush sumptuous rooms, great staff an attention to detail. Lovely toiletries and the showers are super powerful. Would definitely recommend
A. M.
Pleasant hotel in a convenient location for the Underground. Only stayed 1 night so only experienced the room. Was clean and tidy with comfy bed.
L. B.
Its a great, cozy, nicely designed hotel with great attention and hosting from its employees. Sunom was great host for us she made our experience unique!
J. S.
Stayed over the weekend and found it to be an excellent quite location and fantastic room. Would stay again!
N. S.
Modern decor, quick room service. No hair dryer and no breakfast even though £228 for a night however.
L. W.
Fantastic place tucked out of the way. Comfortable and full of character with a great Bar/bistro down stairs. First choice for me when staying in that area.
R. R.
Great spot, close to wonderful pubs. I walked a good portion of London and back in a day. The rooms were extremely comfortable for the area!!!
N. T.
Great buffet, main course was burger and chips which weren't great at all. The burger was so bland and the bread was dry!
G. J.
It's ok. Slightly scruffy basement restaurant. Incredibly expensive cup of coffee, with no saucers or teaspoons available! Needs some TLC these days to bring it back to spec.
I. L.
Service has dropped a lot. Food is reasonable. Free-flowing prosecco, needed to be reminded to keep it flowing. But for £15 can't complain too much.
A. M.
Visited here for a relaxing hen weekend for my sister and as usual the food and service was exceptional
A. A.
had afternoon tea. was ok scones were lush. sandwiches and little brights were ok. I would recommend his place but it's not great for parking.
C. A. R.
I stayed here for 5 nights.
I LOVE this hotel. Staff were friendly, surrounding was nice, near the tube station
D. E.
Attended this venue as part of a work Christmas day out. Staff were great and put up with us professionally, however, food was a little disappointing. Portions were very small.
P. W.
Stopped here on a 2 night deal through a third party, room only, got a cracking deal on breakfast and cocktail for £17pp well worth it, staff very attentive, standard room was big enough and very clean and very quiet located at the back of hotel, good location would stay here again
I. B.
Very peaceful hidden corner of London and close to good transport links. Bustling Smithfields market within the interesting streets of Farringdon. Hope both lifts are working next time
N. H.
Went for a work Christmas dinner. Staff and set up were adequate for the occasion. Always good when there is free flowing wine
P. D.
Staff are lovely, bed is amazing. Food is fantastic over all great hotel for a weekend away.
B. D.
This review is specific to the Bar here, which is a great hidden place in an area plagued with super-crowded, way too loud bars. They have a fab little happy hour (5 - 7 pm) on Thursdays and Fridays, serving some powerful and tasty drinks. The bar downstairs is good for groups, and it's quite easy to forget time in the glossy yet subdued subterranean hideaway.
C. D.
I often stay in Malmaison hotels around the country. This one is good in every way except one member of staff in the restaurant really spoilt the evening by patronising me. Not something I expect from any restaurant, but especially not from somewhere as expensive as this.
D. J. L. w. J.
Fantastic hotel with typical Malmaison darkened room design making it cosy with soft lighting.. beds are lovely and so are bathroom facilities... the lobby is spacious and welcoming with friendly staff... the only area that requires some serious sorting out is the Mal dining facility... the service was terrible with no crockery + cutlery available and the food paltry and watery.. the cheapest brown toast was all that was offered until we insisted on granary... I've never ever experienced poached eggs which only tasted of water and nothing else...
D. F.
Nice boutique style hotel with comfortable rooms, tea/coffee facilities, tv etc. Nice touch with the magazines and decent size bathroom condiments!
P. A.
Nice standard restaurant. Food was okay but not well presented. Desert brownies was a mess which was a let down. Other than that, okay but not great!
A. T.
Friendly and helpful staff, personal service, boutique like experience. Good sized rooms for a London hotel.
T. S.
Great food and atmosphere, think our waitress was new as didn't know some of the basic stuff but still overall very good.
A. A.
Delicious lunch offerings. Vegan options are available as well. Not too pricey either.
Z. K.
Lovely restaurant, professional and welcoming staff! The best one so far in London.
M. B.
Great bar friendly service and chic rooms
Love the showers too
M. T.
First class service and the complimentary nuts are a nice touch. The strip steak was fantastic however the chips were very average and I'd have expected more for £5. I'd definitely recommend if you are in the area
J. M.
After a bit of a disasterous start to my birthday, I had a fabulous end! The staff couldn't have made me feel any more special
C. F.
A great Sunday brunch today , excellent quality buffet for the starters and tasty roast dinner for our main. We shall be back
P. A. D.
Great rooms. Great Location. Very polite staff. Average breakfast
V. S.
Great drinks, great service with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, but the bar downstairs is not as cosy as I would expect for a Malmaison hotel
J. B.
Decent...
Good staff..
Nice Aircon..
Gorgeous food...
Not the cheapest for bits and bobs....
But very nice...
p. a.
Room was ready 3 hrs before 3pm check in which was great. Nice room and great food.

A. I.

E.
The rooms are big and beautiful and well stocked, bed is very comfy, staff very friendly and the food is delicious!
M. S.
We came here for a very reasonable afternoon tea. Great service and selection of treats. Would recommend.
A. F.
The place was well put together and clean. Great location for pubs and for peace and quiet.
S. B.
Decent rooms in an unbeatable location. The shower is pretty terrible, though and the lobby and the staff are uninspired.
S. W.
Birthday weekends with my girlfriend. We spent most of the time in the bar where the staff talked us into.drinking lots of cocktails and getting a lil tipsy.
S. C.
Easy check-in. Spacious, well presented rooms. Comfy beds. Would happily recommend to anyone in the area.
S. H.
Best place I've ever stayed. The soaking tub was heaven after long days of sight-seeing.
S. Y.
Nice spaciouse rooms. Nice and attentive staff. Breafast was a bit lacking.
J. F.
Had a great afternoon tea, lady who served us was very attentive and lovely
L. S.
Small boutique hotel quite close to the station. Pleasantly surprised by the food and beds are very comfortable.
M. M.
Room was great, and the bar and restaurant excellent, but the staff excelled and made the stay superb!
A. C.
Small boutique hotel. Cosy rooms are small but other rooms are good. Nice breakfast.
L. A.
Four course sunday meal. Food most enjoyable. Good service and house wine was really good for its price
a. r.
Very nice location and design. Bar was great although account must not have been working so it was very hot
H. H.
Nice hotel, good location, could be a bit focused on customer service, especially in the restaurant.
M. K.
The staff were helpfull and the food in the resteraunt was very good. I will deffinately stay again.
E. W.
Visited Chez Mal with a special offer voucher from Time Out for a bottomless prosecco brunch. It's not really brunch though. It's like brunch on steroids. They offer a three course meal but the 'starter' is an unlimited number of visits to the 'chef's table'. That's followed by a choice of roasts or other large main meals. The choice of desserts is small but perfectly formed. I would recommend a visit. The staff members were warm and welcoming and the food was all very tasty.
P. B.
Stopped in for somewhere quiet to do a conference call and the staff were excellent, finding me a quiet secluded corner of the restaurant and there is wifi available so was just what i needed.
E. B.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food. Extremely friendly and quick witted staff! Thanks Alexandra & Raymond.
L. L.
Compared to London standards, very good value for money. We liked it!
N. L.

Really nice little hotel, very comfortable and good location.

m. w.
Service was amazing, the only down side is the fact that there was No gym or pool or spa facilities, would definately visit again
P. G.

K. B.
Great hotel. Lovely rooms. Friendly staff.
M. S.
Had a lovely bottomless bunch. £40 was an amazing deal and a lovely anniversary for both myself and my wife.
E. H.
An amazing Mother's day lunch. All the mother's were given a glass of Prosecco. Then you have the starter, which is help yourself to the endless buffet. Followed by a traditional Sunday roast plus other options. If you have room, then you can have the yummy desserts. Also, they give a leaving present to all the mother's.
A. P.
Nice sized rooms, quiet and tucked away, but close to Tube stops.
T. H.
Nice hotel with very interesting décor. Big rooms for the price.
S. Q.
Food top notch, bit pricey, tight room but stylish decor and sexy en-suite.

Great place to stay in London
D. D.
Good boutique hotel
R. B.
Strip Bar and Steak...what can I say?
It was always somewhere I had interest in trying and when the deal popped I couldn't resist booking up for myself and the girls. 20quid for steak, lobster and prosecco you say? I wanted in!
The venue itself was well decorated although oddly situated so I can't imagine it receives much passing traffic, hence the deal. However once inside service was impeccable and food certainly up to scratch.
Was it the best steak or lobster I have ever had, probably not but it's most certainly worth a visit for a giggle or date and well worth the pennies if you're not out to break the bank. x
I. R.

Had a gorgeous room, very clean and very nice, modern decorated. The staff was professional and friendly. However, the lift shall contain a note informing the quests that is working only with the room card as I didn't knew and was alone and panicking. Highly recommended.

(Translated) Beautiful room !! Great room service and excellent cleaning. Not too soundproofed the room having the balcony communicating with the rude neighbors. Kind staff. Convenient location and well served by public transport. Recommended.

Camera stupenda!! Servizio in camera ottimo e ottima pulizia. Non troppo insonorizzata la camera avendo il balconcino comunicante con i vicini maleducati. Personale gentile. Posizione comoda e ben servita da mezzi. Consigliato.

(Translated) An unforgettable 20 years offered by my darling in this hotel, elegance at the rendezvous. We loved the hotel from the outside inside, the bedding is great we can only sleep well.
The room is spacious and the place very quiet.
The only malus is the "buffet" breakfast very thin choice, bacon extra is a pity ...

(Translated) A hotel like an old building renovated. The room was modern and clean. I think that it is better to buy it at a nearby Tesco because the water in the room is charged. There are iron, ironing board, dryer, USB port, wine opener in room. There is no such thing as a bathrobe or pajamas. There are no amenities such as toothbrushes like Japan.

(Translated) Nice hotel with exceptional decor and a lot of style.
1 star deduction because of:
- Little choice at the breakfast buffet, vegetables e.g. like tomato / cucumber / etc. You search in vain.
Just like water
- terrible coffee (only the extra paid coffee is drinkable)
-restaurant where breakfast is also served is located diagonally below the entrance door and was at all times much too cold to sit comfortably
(Original)
Schönes Hotel mit außergewöhnlicher Einrichtung und sehr viel Stil.
1 Stern Abzug wegen :
- wenig Auswahl beim Frühstücksbuffet, Gemüse z.b. wie Tomate/Gurke/etc. Sucht man vergebens.

(Translated) The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The parking at the hotel is very expensive, we arrived by car.
The location is a bit out of the way, the connection to the underground around the corner makes this a bit off.
Nearby is a supermarket, for drinks, snacks etc.
(Original)

(Translated) Booked Malmaison for New Year's Eve celebration. Is a bit out of the center but everything is still within walking distance. London Eye is 30 minutes walk and Soho an hour. Atmosphere is modern and hip. Nice room received for very reasonable price. Was reasonably clean with nice bed and good shower. Worth repeating!

(Translated) Except for the fantastic breakfast, the location of the facility is poor, the noise at dawn..... Draft beer is broken, there is no printer (send by e-mail to the staff..) The shower is a little damaged... Disappointing the price! The horsemanship on the Aberdeen side was really cool...
