Reviews of Premier Inn London Chingford hotel

Hotel is exactly as expected, I think it's the same corporate look for all rooms in the entire group.
The jewel in the crown was the breakfast served in the pub next door. Absolutely superb at a great price and our kids eat free. Highly recommended.
M. P.
Great location. Very nice pub at the ground floor.
Looking forward to stay over.

First time back here since well before Covid, nice and clean, looks like it has had a bit of a refurbishment. Staff were pleasant and enjoyed the meal, prices obviously increased but not too much, would certainly return.
J. B.
Lovely place. Friendly staff. Great food. Good atmosphere. Plenty of parking places including several disabled bays.
W. K.
Didn’t stay but it’s right next to the Queen Elizabeth hunting lodge… lovely area and the pub is great….
S. S.
This is more for the Harvester which is the restaurant beneath our attached to the Premier Inn.
We generally go there for their breakfast with the children. Since Covid hit I suppose they do the best they can but it was certainly better previously. Certainly worthy of 4 stars.
Continental had less choices on offer and our hot breakfast was not exactly as ordered. I didn't see any hand gel stations around. Selection of teas limited.
A revamp would not be out of place but that doesn't really phase me as it was clean and the staff friendly.
We enjoy going there for their generally good breakfast and then going for a lovely walk through the open plain, Epping Forest and around Connaught Waters.
I am hoping we just caught them on an off day as we have been going there for years and hope to return and find it is what we previously experienced.
E. P.
The pub is beautiful inside out and the position is to die for. You are on the boarder of the beautiful Epping Forest and is super easy to reach by foot because it's close to Chingford train station. I would give 5 star but the selection of beers and the quality of food is disappointing 😞 such a shame.

Arrived late on Friday for our 1 night stay but still managed to squeeze a table downstairs in the restaurant. Portion sizes were big and the food was great. The room was comfortable. We came down for breakfast but there was a problem with the gas. It didn't matter as we didn't wait long. The staff were so helpful and polite, when we got in for breakfast the food was again great. We didn't get the name of the guy who was serving us but we spoke about going into London and he provided us with directions and which tubes to take. Thankyou so much it was very much appreciated. I'd recommend this place to anyone, all the staff made our stay a very welcome one and the food is great. We will definitly be back.

The place is in a lovely part of London with great paths to walk around Epping forest;, but is tired in appearance, WiFi even though the ultimate version is poor in the hotel. The restaurant link to Premier Inn is very basic and food is average to low in quality, building fixtures and fitting as all slightly worn and in need of repair or replacement. Staff are pleasant and friendly.
P. C.
Much the same as any other Premier inn, clean comfortable with hot shower, on site restaurant
J.
This is a good budget hotel friendly staff always happy to assist you. The restaurant servers a great breakfast eat as much as you like. The dinner menu is delicious although a little pricey. The management staff are engaged and ensure your stay is comfortable. The rooms are cleaned properly everyday
J. T.
The room was not too bad to be honest, except windows do not open and my husband said the corridor has the smell of chemical spray. The floor was a bit saggy in parts, you can see from outside, the building is pretty old and need some fixing.
Breakfast was a quite sad, nobody in the restaurant except one customer. Car park was pretty much empty in the morning.
The waiter was obviously avoiding to talk with us, but the lady who served us was great.
All the people working there at that day sounded like they came from other hotels, they are not sure of things when we asked some minor questions on the locations of restaurant etc ( many doors are shut for the one way system?).
Epping forest was a little creepy, not sure I like it but it was ok to walk ( as long as if you do not have hell stones while walking).
J. P.
Really nice hotel it's obviously not a 5 star but if you pre book your can get a really good price. Clean comfortable attentive staff.
a. L.
The breakfast was warm and the scrambled eggs were watery
H. C.
Just absolutely love this hotel, the interior and exterior! The walks surrounding the grounds I could stay here for a week and not get bored! Excellent base for walking opposite Epping Forest!
S. M.
I didn't stay overnight at the lodge I just met up with family and had a meal at the attached restaurant which was pretty mediocre. The interior is a pretty standard affair nothing special in fact it looks a little dated. Has plenty of parking which is nice and a redeeming feature of the pub is it's proximity to some good walks you can go on.
J. P.
Had an amazing stay here! For £50 a night my expectations were low, but were massively exceeded. The bed was comfy, the service was excellent, the room was clean and pleasant to be in. The best part is the location - the hotel is the perfect starting point for a hike around Epping Forest. Would recommend for anyone looking for a cheap but classy stay near Epping Forest.
W.
Fairly nice hotel in lovely surroundings. Plenty of free parking which is always a plus. Rooms could do with a refurb as they are quite old fashioned.
G.
No signal anywhere. WiFi terrible unless you pay for premium. Wouldn't stay again
S. D.
Great premier inn always better than a new build 👍🏼
B. B.
Lovely staff.Very small room with non opening windows which i hated, but air con kept it cool.Huge clean bathroom. Everything you could want for a short stay, but desperately needs all carpets cleaned as they were filthy. Restaurant food was good, but again, the whole place needs a deep clean, especially window sills, blinds and carpets.Fabulous huge comfy bed. Plenty of parking.
M. S.
Room was Ok, just what you would expect from a Premier Inn. Check in was fine. The hotel has s bit of a run down feel. Restaurant was a bit chaotic especially at breakfast. Food was alright but service areas really messy with no one keeping things clean and topped up. Could do with a bit of investment. Outside area at the back is big but the seating looks like it has had no maintenance for years and the bin store at the back.of the kitchen is right next to it. Overall not bad but not good for £139 for one night with breakfast.
R. M.
Great lunch had in their restaurant. Accommodation appeared to be good but haven't tried. Staff so helpful in museum at side and opened the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge for us to look inside as visiting from Australia. They also took photos of family together for us on our cameras. Wonderful setting, so much to see and great selection of food to choose from for lunch - which was delicious (mains & desserts for 3 people)
L. B.
Lovely mixed grill. Very nice staff member (young man) checked our booking for 6th Dec for our wedding meal for 30 people. He made us laugh.
J. B.
Room was comfortable and clean. Very good value.
Z.
Comfy bed and amazing sleep, great value breakfast from the partner restaurant chain that they work with. Pleased and happy with my night at the inn.
However there is nothing special to get from the booking, everything is standard and comes standard.
M. B. B.
Crying out for a make over especially the outside. It looks to be falling to bits unfortunately.
Management should look to keep this amazing building in good condition before its too late.
Staff are great.
N. F.
It’s a Premier Inn, so you get the expected clean, well thought out rooms with plenty of space for your travel bags you would expect.
What is a bonus in this particular case is the characterful historic building, ample parking and great location for exploring the forest.
100 meters away is the Hunting Lodge, which is definitely worth a visit (it’s small so a visit is easy to fit into your day).
a. j.
My partner and I enjoyed our stay here very much, the room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. The staff could not have been anymore helpful than they were, they were pleasant, friendly and a credit to Premier Inn.
The staff at the Royal Forest pub and restaurant were also helpful, friendly and pleasant.
We would like to say a special thank you to the staff that assisted us on the morning of our departure, our car wouldn't start and they went that extra mile in helping to get us jump started and on our way..... Thank You so so much.
Amanda & Kevin :) x
K. W.
Clean. Comfortable. Good car park nice surroundings nice staff.
Food (Brewers Fare) could be better. Always ask no garnish. Yes always arrives with Garnish. The Self service drinks are poor.
Hotel fair to good
Restaurant fair to poor. Could do much better
s. s.
Staff were nice. Explained seating and ordering to our group. Didnt pressure us. Polite and calming atmosphere. Have been many times.
M. P.
A comfortable hotel which is within easy walking distance of Chingford station.
Rooms were a good size with air conditioning, TV and plenty of storage space.
The hotel restaurant offered a good breakfast for a reasonable price and the bar was well stocked.
S. N.
One night stay - visiting Chingford on business following day. Would definitely recommend. Very clean and bright air conditioned room. Staff very friendly. Had a very good meal in Royal Forest next door where staff were friendly and attentive but not in your face.
L. F.
Good hotel but can you please explain why, during a quiet meal with friends on a Saturday night, a small army of cleaners descended around us hoovering and mopping in the Brewers Fayre restaurant at 10.30pm interrupting our meal. Unbelievable! Whose idea was that? Does this happen on a regular basis?
M. D.
Went again for a Christmas day meal and it was the complete opposite of last year, wrong starter,Roast dinner perfect but nearly 30 minutes wait for dessert,o know it was busy but it was much better last year,so I have rated it 3 stars this year, could have been better.
C.
Nice room. Friendly staff... It's easy to be ignored by thier breakfast staff even though they are quite welcoming when you cime in for breakfast. The restaurant is quite unclean..the tables are sticky, dried food on table from previous meals.
M. B.
Second time back to this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful, room well up to the mark and it is well connected via overground for our purposes. Free parking is a great bonus.
R. M.
Perfect for my needs - comfy bed, large room, hot shower - ideal for Epping forest
M. R.
One of the best Premier Inns I've stayed at and due to moving North recently from London we've been regulars at a Premier Inn. The staff were superb, the were extra bits laid on for the kids, the rooms air conditioning unit worked superbly and the room was lovely and spacious. The grounds for the Premier Inn are lovely too, with a lovely pub and easy access to London and some local shops
M. B.
Typical Premier Inn with a restaurant attached. Stopped here twice, room was clean and comfortable on both occasions and the staff were friendly. Convenient for getting into East London.
M. N.
Very helpful people.. The only thing is the windows r so old it kept blowing wind in. Need something done to the windows. We sat near the windows and the cold draft was alful.
D. B.
A good nights stay in a well converted building. Some rooms have very noisy AC and could do with a ‘proper’ vacuum round the edges but overall a nice place to stay.
g. g.
Whilst the building is very old and looks good, you can see its age where ever you look. There wallpaper is held on by sellotape, some of the glass in the windows is cracked and has holes and there are electrical cables hanging from the ceiling. All of this but they have 40" elctronic poster screens for the menus and offers. A bit of money spent on looking after the place would be a great idea. The good thing is that the food was good. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out more towards medium well-done BUT it tasted so good that I didnt really mind. It also came with some of the best onion rings I have ever had!
S. S.
Room was usual premier Inn standard, very comfy bed, good shower. We were on the 2nd floor, in the roof so room was a bit smaller than usual but it was just somewhere to sleep after a night out in Chingford so fine. 5 minute walk to Chingford high street and just across the road from the car park for epping forest so location is good too.
M. H.
The hotel was fine, they always are. It's the restaurants that let them down! The food took a while to come and when it finally arrived it was only luke warm! The staff were also very rude to a couple who complained about the poor service and cold food! If I stay here again I'll be eating elsewhere!
S. M.
Amazing old building. Bit of a pity it's a Premier Inn.
E. S.
Very good and tasty, my Cesar salad was perfect.
S.
Great food, cooked fresh and delicious. Mixes grill with everything cooked to perfection and certainly a meal that sets you up for the day ahead
J. H.
We enjoyed our meal. Good service and a lovely atmosphere
L. S.
Lovely hotel with beautiful features. Very clean. Considerate and helpful staff who are happy to help beyond their role
C. S.
Lovely room, just what you would expect. Brewers fayre had good food, nice staff, but looking a little tired..
M. S.
Comfortable rooms and staff were so lovely. Food let it down slightly at Brewers Fayre but that's not Premier's fault.
M. B.
Very pleasant lunch with members of Lea Valley Friends walking group. Good value and staff very helpful. See our facebook page for walks photos.
K. T.
It's ok. Had a burger. Staff were trying. Tables not cleared too quickly, however, everyone was helpful when we had a problem.
D. f.
Food was deffo not up to scratch! Shame but has a really nice outside seating area out the back and a really nice view as well.
A. O.
Way better than staying close to London, beckton and barking in particular.
Update:
When ur paying £125 for a room it would be nice to have a TV larger than 15"... "Everything's premier, but the price" doesn't quite ring true.
Sort it out Lenny!
B. S.
Great place to eat staff are very friendly the food is second to none always fresh
C. G.
Location was great and just on the edge of local epping forest. The hotel was clean and well kept, the rooms excellent standard and good value.
J. D.
Just booked WEEKEND for my birthday thank you so much to the assistant manager for doing this having meal with family soil LOOKING forward my speacil day x
B. M.
Perfect for what we needed. Friendly staff, clean, well equipped room. Premier Inn is normally good and this was the best of Premier.
E. K.
Nice hotel could do with a bit of an update but nothing really bad. Everything you'd expect from a hotel room. Helpful and friendly staff
P. B.
I didn't go to the premier inn I went to the royal forest restaurant (brewers fair) not over keen on the menu but the food was hot and fairly quick
C. M. (. C.
I didn't stay here, I was here for a meal but it was a lovely place. If your in town for a weekend definitely recommend here
D. D.
Good location, immaculate room; clean and tidy. No hassle. Immediately felt relaxed on arrival after long drive. Would absolutely recommend
M. S.
Been there for a Christmas party, food was good but service was abysmal. We waited 50 minutes for desert! When it came it was a utter disappointment.
E. G.

J. G.
Food good service not so good, tables not very clean seemed to be a bit sticky
G. S.
Room was on top floor. Smaller than usual premier Inn room but as we were only staying following a party it was ok.
P. M.
Very comfortable lovely warm room and it had a bath which was lovely as I only have a shower at home
A. C.
Amazing building. Great location! Friendly staff.
j. c.
Been there for the last week and it's great and food and staff are very good and some of the staff go the extra mile without being pressured
C. N.
Only dropped in for breakfast but it was pleasant enough. Usual buffet affair but a good selection
T. M.
Nice place to eat..
Got the forest out side..
Friendly staff but
When busy staff are a bit slow
R. W.
Rooms are basic, attached pub hasn't been refubished for quite a while however the location on the edge of the forest is beautiful.
H. S.
Staff very helpful very polite, Daniel assistant manager 10 out of 10, food good, restaurant in desperate need of revamp chipped paintwork furnishings dirty and shabby ie, chair's, helen
D. f.
Very nice, easy to find and spacious rooms, just remember to turn the air con on a couple of hours before bed
J. B.
Food good. Service good . Only criticism is the tables are sticky. I go here often.
P. W.
