mhmm the location was great but the rooms were too small.
The cleanliness was ok. However, it was not even cleaned.
Really ok was the foyer and guest lounges.
The area where the hostel is located is rather a very poor territory.
Near, there are some 99 pence supermarkets.
And cheap snack shops.
On the whole, more of a young people hostel.
The service is good and friendly, and open 24 hours.
Unfortunately, the shower head was broken and dripping constantly.

The hostel was a good price and the location was perfect (you can walk into central London in about 20 mins). The dorm rooms were fine too. The TV room was quite impressive as a chill out spot - very big comfy sofas. The toilets and showers were also fine (tho the toilet paper dispenser did seem to get stuck quite a bit). They also had an outdoor area but I was there during the winter so didn't use it. The building is quite grand and there are info boards for trips and excursions. The check in goes to quite late as well so no need to worry if your transport to London is delayed.
The negatives were that there is no self catering whatsoever - I've never been to a hostel that didn't even have a kettle to make your own tea/coffee or microwave. They do have a cafe, but backpacking in hostels (in my opinion) should have some form of self catering facility for the budget traveller.
Not necessarily a negative/good, but things to note. The hostel takes in families and school groups so be aware if you'd rather avoid that. Also, its a dry hostel, so no alcohol.
Overall, decent price and great location but would be 5 stars if they stick a kettle and/or microwave somewhere.

Quite a nice place to stay for 2 nights.
Only issue was the bathroom in the room was small so if someone had a shower that meant water would get literally everywhere and there weren't any free towels to clean it up.
There were enough plug sockets but they were all on the lower bunks and not the top.
Staff members were nice.

Beautiful place with really polite staff. Toilets weren't as clean as one would like to, and the coffee served during breakfast wasn't as delicious as I'd hope for so that's why not 5 stars. But amazing place to stay, and very cheap to stay at whilst in the beating heart of London!
I stayed at one of the shared rooms (33 beds) and the other guests were kind and try to keep quiet

I had a fairly good stay at Restup, its in a good location near Elephant & Castle station. The hostel is absolutely huge and very reasonably priced with all the facilities you really need. I would say the locker situation is extremely pricey as I think you pay by the day so I ended up keeping everything in my room. Apart from that its a decent stay and staff were great!
s. k.
For the price of this hostel it’s a good deal. But you pay for what you get.
Some negatives
- the building is quite big and they don’t give you a tour which can make it quite confusing.
- the shower temperature is burning hot and there’s nothing you can do about it.
- you need to pay for lockers at 3£ 24 hours, if you open it before you need to pay again.
- the washrooms weren’t cleaned in the two nights we stayed.
- we stayed in the lower level of the building and didn’t have any access to wifi.
- no kitchen facilities, not even a kettle or micro wave.
- while we were there it seemed to be majority big school groups than travelers so if you’re looking to meet people this might not be it.
- can’t drive alcohol in the “lounge”.
Positives
- cheap (but for all the cons you may as well pay for something better)
- close to metro.
- close to big super market w hot food.
overall for two nights it was manageable but i wouldn’t stay longer than that, and if i were to return to london i wouldn’t stay here again. the photos seem to be outdated on here as there were not really big comfy couches, there were two that were always occupied and the rest was tall bar stool tables.

We'll, not to much to say: beds and shared facilities like toilets and showers.
The staff is OK, but could be nicer.
The toilets aren't cleaned that often during the day.
Place trending within young generations and I think it's not suitable for families...unless you really really need a budget option - that's its best point!
Close to the center by bus or underground. The underground station is less than 10min on foot.
L. M.
Overall a nice place to stay. The staff are friendly, the rooms are decent and the cafe/food area is nice. However, there didn't seem to be enough seats available in the lounge area when I stayed there. The location is quite nearby to an underground station and bus stops. Overall facilities and interior decor are of a high standard. Would stay again.

Read most of the reviews and was happy to find that they were mostly wrong. Booked a single private room and was pleasantly surprised. Considering the value for money, staff were Uber friendly on Reception. The only downside was no lift to the 4th floor but was asked if I needed help with my bags. The room was small but didn't expect much. Was really amazing. Would definitely return back. A pleasant small treasure. Can't comment on sharing a room alas.
N. L.
Friendly staff! Rooms are clean but don't expect too much. Warm water for shower which is nice. 1 thing have to mention is, my baggage got delayed from the airport and the staff helped me to receive it from the delivery while I was away traveling. They double checked my identity with the information provided from the airport and at the end I collect my baggage - which saved my life as London was my first stop during the trip. They are patient and willing to help. 👍
L. H.
Rooms smaller than what it looks on picture (website). Breakfast expensive for what it is. Was supposed to be served 7am but 7.30 it wasnt ready.
Staff young and not really involved. Look like we annoy them by asking question. Public space not really clean.
We had a 5beds room. Not really comfy. Bathroom narrow and water was burning. Couldnt have a shower after a long trip. You better us the common one.
I glad we only spent one night.
Otherwise is not too far from facilities and undergrounds. We went easily to the center of London for dinner.
Not a place for us. :/

I've been to some nice hostels but this isn't one of them. The showers barely work, and homeless people shared my dorm with me. Really friendly staff but that's the highlight. Good location. No free breakfast.
L.
I can only give my thoughts on this hostel as I can't compare to others. The rooms seemed to be clean, we had a private room with out own ensuit which was good. Although the light is on a timer which makes having a shower a bit awkward.
My only real issue was the food. It was pretty terrible. Had we known, we would've gone elsewhere. It was £4.50 for a continental breakfast (or which there wasn't much) and £6.50 for an English breakfast. All very basic and cheep food. Self service hot drinks served in polystyrene cups! What a waste!
F. M.
The two of us stayed in a 4-bed quad which was our private room. We paid GBP 64 including the English breakfast and towels. Sheets, towels and bathrooms all very clean. There was a problem with the women's toilets being backed up. Otherwise all OK. Staff especially friendly and welcoming. If you don't mind a Spartan room and shared bath, you cannot beat the price!
F. S.
Friendly staff, good prices, rooms could be a bit cleaner.
I spent four weeks there and met a lot of people, even made new international friends. Would come back for some nights.
Underground station Elephant & Castle is quickly accessible by a short walk. Bus stop right in front of gate to hostel.
The food ordered from the kitchen is okay, but the breakfast isn't that good.
A. C.
For what you pay and for being in London this place is a blessing. Dorms as cheap as 9€ or even less in low season. The place is huge and it’s a nice old red bricks building. I have been here before and now I came back. I think I will choose this place over and over especially for the closeness to the Beer Mile.
W. J.
Rooms are a bit better than most people here say, as basic foam mattress with clean sheets are given at the start of your stay. They're a little old and that is a given, and it is a bit noisy as it is near the main road, however you can still get a good night's sleep. Staff are friendly and the lounge is pretty cool. All in all 4/5, would come again
P. R. O.
To be honest, the place is what you pay for. My only complaint is the lack of outlets on each pair of beds and that you have to pay to use the lockers (which is something other hostels didn't charge you). But the beds are good enough, the place is close to Elephant And Castle station and not so far away from London.

I stayed at RestUp London Hostel with a group of 18 middle school students, aged 16. For a short school trip lasting a couple of days, it's a perfect place: good basic breakfast included in the price (you get toast bread, butter, ham, cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cereal, tea, coffee, orange juice or water), it's a buffet so you eat as much as you like - no one is hungry after 30 of leaving the hostel to go sightseeing London. The rooms are clean though crampy and the bathrooms are in the common areas in the corridor, they are clean too. The rooms were also cleaned every day, the rubbish was taken away so it's nice.
Rest Up hostel is located just 4 underground station from Westminster or 4-5 stations from the National Gallery or a 30-min walk from the Tower Bridge so nobody should complain.
Inside the hostel there has a nice interior and nice atmosphere, the reception guys are very helpful, there is a storage room where you can leave your group's luggage if you arrive before the check-in time and you can go sightseeing. The only complain would be about the size of the rooms (very small) and no furniture in the rooms, not even a mini-table or stool or hooks on the wall where you could put or hang your clothing when you go to bed.
But all in all, it's worth the stay and money. I was very hesitant having read all those reviews as I travelled with 18 teenagers but today I don't regret. Next time I'll consider staying at Rest Up, too.

Good hostel. Located five minutes walk from Elephant and Castle Tube Station. Also convenient for family short trips or school trips. It has elevator and big shared space. However no restaurant and toilet facilities (cleaned every morning) are smelly and dirty in the evening.
M. V.
Fair enough for the price. We paid 200 for a room with four beds, shared bathrooms. The room was not too bad but stayed quite hot considering the weather outside. The bathrooms were ok. Women and men are separated, one at each side of the hallway.
Each bed had a plug, the matresses were like chrashmats but felt better than expected. We had no towels though, and our sink broke once during the night.
The hostal is quite nice, with a balcony and a little terrace downstairs with grass, good just for chill. The hostel itself was very well placed considering the price, half an hour by foot away from the London Eye, with a Tesco just at the other side of the road and a bus stop just out of the door. We strongly recommend Maxys Chickens for dinner.
M. W.
Was as good as you'd expect from the price of the room. Spent very little time in the room as it was so small. Mattresses were thin and uncomfortable. Drug use went unchallenged even when reported to staff. Staff did intervene when noise complaint was made. Location was reasonable for the price. Common areas were clean and comfortable.
G. D.
Nice place in central London for a group or family. The charges are cheapest you will find in this area. Dormitory setup is good and so are common facilities like Bathrooms, locker rooms and breakfast arrangements.
C. F.
This hostel is ok. Rooms are clean but small, 3 tiered bunk beds crammed in. In some of the beds there is no place to charge your electronics and have them near you, which is inconvenient especially when you are on the very top bunk. Location is stellar, staff are super friendly! For the price it’s worth it, but only because it’s so inexpensive.
T. K.
Beds are ok, a bit small bathroom so don't know how a fatter person would/is showering. A bit noisy but you can fall asleep. Plug ins to charge your phone and every bed has a separate light. There is a place where you can store your suitcases.
If you want breakfast +£4. A lot of stairs, don't know if there is a lift. You can smoke oudside before entering the hostel. For my first hostel I could not complain.
a. w.
Very cheap. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a 4 bed and the room was very small. Communal bathrooms. There is free wifi but it didnt work up in my room, only in the communal space. It's at a decent location near elephant and castle station. No access to a public computer, no lock boxes in the room. There ae lockers for 3or 4 pounds.
N. M.
The staff are very friendly and accomodating, the room was clean and the shower included in the private room was very nice .
Reason for 3 stars is the number of obnoxious people staying there, that spent the entire night running back and forth and yelling outside of our room. We had booked a private room in the hopes that it'd be a quieter experience, but were sadly wrong.
The other reason for 3 stars was that they charge for almost everything here. A locker will cost you £3, a towel £2.50, a game of pool £1 and a deposit for the cues, breakfast costs £4 - £7 depending on what you get, and really should have been included with what we paid for the room in an area like this.
Wouldn't be my first choice to stay in again, but it was not an all around terrible experience.
D. V.
I've stayed in a room with 2 beds. The room was really small and really , really cold.
The hostel is really loud, especially during night hours where we were woken up several times due to some guys insulting each other in french and almost fighting outside the rooms.
Our room window had a serious insulation problem (I do think this was the cause of the coldness) : I put my phone on charge and let it rest on the windowsill for the entire night, woke up in the morning and found it laying on 5mm of water. Needles to say it was f.. up.
That damn window seemed to be open even when it wasn't.
Anyway, the price was quite high because we booked for the NYE and quite late, but we still enjoyed this hostel as a "cheap" alternative to the hotels in that period.
Beside the loudness and the small room it was a nice place to stay, the staff was nice and had introduced the place really well.
The hostel is located not far from the "Elephant and Castle" underground station, and it's easily reachable from pretty much everywhere in London: just take the Northern Line (black line) and go southbound towards Elephant and Castle.
I don't really regret my visit to Restup London (despite that damn window), but if I would ever plan to visit London again I'll stay in a hotel instead.
B. M.
Overall it was good for the price. I booked one of the smaller dorms and the room was quite compact, not much space between bunks, but there was a space under the bed for bags and I had a socket for my phone.
It seemed to be mostly travellers 18-30 but also some families and a large group with teens when I was there. My only negative view is certain guests, rather than the hostel - some teens were running about and noisy in the corridor late at night and one girl was using the toilet with the door wide open while talking to her friend who was stood in the doorway. Also 1 or 2 people forgot about the bathroom being co-ed and would step out of the shower unclothed or clean teeth in just their underwear etc. I don't care, but some people might be offended by that. (Some floors I think have separate male-female bathrooms, so if you prefer it you can use one of those).
I would definitely recommend, but like any hostel there might be a few noisy guests.
M. B.
Stayed in a private twin room with ensuite. The room was tiny, just big enough to fit a metal bunk bed. No wifi in the rooms. However the location was good, it was clean and it is a good price for London. So you get what you pay for. I would stay there again if I wanted to save some money.
A. R.
On the plus side, Restup is very tastefully designed and the common areas are lovely. The staff is also friendly and helpful. On the negative side, the floor I stayed in was either not renovated or in the middle of it, creating a contrast with the common areas. Beds are made or metal. There are no lockers in the room so you have to go to ground floor and pay for every time you lock it. Mattess not that comfortable. All in all, communal spaces well designed and lively, but bedrooms seemed to be an afterthought.
S. B.
Cheap hostel, with bunk beds. Double rooms with private bathroom are available, if you are willing to pay a little more. Clean but somewhat uncomfortable. Some of the rooms get pretty cold in the winter. Rooms facing the main road get a lot of traffic noise, and there is also a lot of noise from the hallways. Lift often out of order. Free WiFi in the lobby and rooms near it. Coin operated lockers available. Great transport links.
J. E.
Staff are very helpful to tourists. The crowd seems to be people below 30, majority under 23. Nice place to meet people from around the world.
Storage lockers (paid) are available to store baggage. Quaint. Does the job - nothing fancy (as expected).
D. V.
I've been in a room for four, the smallest room I've ever slept in. First impression was: this used to be a prison cell. Beside four beds, there's a small sink and rubbish bin. That's it. It's okay choice if you're coming with familiar people, in other cases I would not recommend. Also, it would be nice if lockers are for free. There's no WiFi in the rooms, only in lobby, if you want to try english breakfast, you need to pay extra.
M. D.
The hostel is huge, lovely staff with very well mantained and clean facilities. During my stay ive noted 2 downsides of this hostel. It does not have a kitchen, we are forced to spend money buying food outside or from them. The lift does not work which is awful having into consideration the amount of stairs one needs to take (with heavy luggage) to reach the 2nd floor for example.
L. R.
It's a good place and location in London. Easy to find and clean. Big place, crammed with beds in dorms and not enough space to walk around as people have luggage in the rooms. There are 3-storey beds, don't get the middle one if possible, if you are over 165cm tall! 😂 what I was missing the most - kitchen facilities. It's a great place for a stopover, one or two nights. Considering location and price of dorms its worth it.
F. A.
The rooms were clean but slightly cramped (6 people room). We stayed on the top floor so we either had to walk up 6 floors or take the lift that never worked properly. Staff were great as they spoke multiple languages and could help out customers who didn't speak English. Bathrooms were clean enough but there were always girls in the guys bathroom and vice versa. The worst part about the stay here was the food. The lunches or dinners at the hotel did not taste great at all. If you plan on being out they give you lunches to take with you but they are really small and definitely not enough for lunch. The packed lunches also didn't taste great. Finally, the hotel did have a wifi connection but it's was terrible. Most of the time it wasn't possible to connect to the WiFi.
M. B.
The hostel was great: maybe the best I've been in London. The location is well served by the buses and the underground is not so far. The only problem I found is the space in the rooms: you have very little space to move and no place to put your belongings. However the experience in general has been very satisfying.
H. R.
Okay, this is complicated, for the price tje service was spectacular, really friendly staff, the matresses are comfortable, the 24 hour cafe is great, lovely common areas, they have free maps at the entrance.
But, I would not recomend for long stays, because unfortunately some guests do not understand that eleven may be early, but some people have to catch a flight at 4 am and they will not let you have the light of, they will talk, even turn in a hair dryer.
This in no way thr fault of the inn, but its something you need to keep in mind. You may have a bad time.
I. B. J.
It was ok, for the price. The breakfast is fine but boring. The room for 4 is quite small, and also very warn since the window couldn’t open that wide. The floor is very dirty, so I recommend that you bring flip flops or so for walking around the building. Not as bad as I expected.
B. S.
I've been here, the food could be a bit better and more diversified. But it was delicious. The rooms and restrooms were fine, although they're tight a bit. The beds are comfortable. Elephant & Castle Tube station can be reached with a 5 min-walk.
J. S. C.
Exactly what you would expect of a good hostel. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were OK. The bathrooms could be a bit cleaner but I have seen worse and this seems to be rather the visitors fault 😅.
The only problem I had was that you need two 1 pound coins for each time you open the locker. The staff does not offer any coins or change. This is in particular a problem if you just arrived in London and do not have much cash yet, maybe just some bank notes from an atm.
I suggest to buy a lock for your luggage and just put it in the room. 🔒😉
L. N.
Very good price for a short vacation. Of course you have to share the bathroom but their bathrooms are in very good and clean condition so I wouldn't mind too much about that. The only thing that I wasn't too pleased about was the stacked beds. Its quite old and cracky so if the upper persons moves just a tiny bit, the whole bed moves and shakes as if there is an earthquake haha. Overall, it is okay for the price.
P. A. R.
This place needs to practice working on continuity and consistency. Rooms were not maintained like they should be, which sends a message to patrons "a lack of control". The staff are nice and welcoming, but that doesn't help when the bedding is not available upon entering or changed after departures.
K. K.
The rooms are pretty small, the staff terribly disorganized. The food is good! However, on a bunker bed, the person sleeping up will be super warm through the night hence I suggest you go for the lower bed.
The common area, the TV room are nice to hang around in. The location is prime and is accessible to bus service, tubes, and supermarkets.
A. D. C.
The location is quite close to bus stations, so you'll be able to go around with no difficulty. Some rooms are quite small, but since it is place to primarily just sleep, it's very well suited. Breakfast is rather good, mainly the English Breakfast (even though you have to pay for it). Overall it is a cheap and nice place to be, close to London Bridge and Tower.
M. W.
Really nice find this. Very friendly and busy, attracting a young cried which is nice to see. We had a private room with shower and loo en suite. It was quiet in our room and we were comfortable and felt safe. Well priced and good facilities. Perfect for Central London visits and we'll be back no doubt.
D. R.
Stayed 3 nights. Double ensuite with boyfriend. Overall a FAIR stay and good if you are on a budget. No wifi in the rooms, just in the communal areas. Large and medium lockers available for storage/keeping things safe (coin operated). Very near the Elephant and Castle tube station. Bed is like that in some dorm rooms (plastic thin mattress). Rooms are clean, no bed bugs. People say the Elephant and Castle area is not the best but experienced no discomfort in the area (even late at night/early morning) but I was always with another person. I am not giving it 5 stars because the walls are THIN. This place is probably better for young groups.
T.
The two days that I had in Restup London were great. Great staff, good breakfast considering the price of a night. The main problem would be the water in the showers : the one in our room had the temperature control broken and water was way to hot, considering public showers : impossible to regulate the temperature too. Anyway, the lounge and other shared rooms were great!
A. J.
Better than many hostels but usual downfalls, rooms need air con as although spacious got very hot. I had 2 nights here with disturbed sleep from snoring by room mate, staff and nosy guests banging and being loud, boisterous even at 3-4 am. i was in a 10 bed dorm , 5 x double bunks, good ceiling heights. No storage in room or desk, ensuite was pitifully small. luckily i was ground floor and was a communal bathroom with no hand dryers! Or shampoo etc in showers, water was good/hot, couldnt adjust head so if you dont want to wash hair tough its getting wet. full english ok but better value than the other option, no croissants how can it be a continental, coffee was worse i have drunk. lounge are downstairs cool, didnt see the tv room or terrace or use coffe/shop etc. lockers cost £2 or £3 but overall i paid more for less, i bought my own towel so saved £2 maybe they should just add that charge in and include towels? The location is not that central but is ok, a few small shops eg tesco, kebab shop, corner shop and a chicken hut what else do you need? The crowd is mostly teens etc but a few oldies like me too.i would stay again
C. L.
Staying in twin bedroom. The room is as clean as they can be with a nice bathroom w/ shower. Great location with tube station in 5 minute walk. Staff are helpful. Rooms are a bit small but ok for two people. Overall a good place to stay if visiting London for a few days.
R. M.
Nice hostel for the cheap price i paid. Clean, with a nice garden outside, polite staff, perfect location in zone 1. The bathroom ensuite, though, was without toilet paper. Asking to the reception, they told me they were gonna send an housekeeper to give me toilet paper, but she never arrived, no problem at all i just used another bathroom in the corridor
S. H.
For the price (The cheapest we could get in London Center at the time) it's a decent hotel with decent staff. The lobby area is really cool and very nice designed. I you do decide to stay here just know the rooms are designed with minimal things you need to sleep there, which is fine if that is the plan. I might stay here again.
J. F.
Really clean and staff are super friendly. Be much better if you had a charge point ne t to your bed though. Showers were really nice on the other hand, and the pizza is very well priced for what you get
I. W.
A funky and interestingly-decorated hostel with friendly desk staff. There's an on-site restaurant but its hours are limited and service is often interrupted for special group events. Wifi doesn't reach the rooms so expect to use it only in common areas. Walls are thin so sounds travels. If you're keen on the hostel experience, RestUp is a cool way to have it and the value is good.
M. W.
The rooms are a little meh, but they have beds and sockets for each one. However the service and lounge are excellent; the staff are all too Mitch and the people going through are from all walks of life. Would totally stay again.
T. M.
Close to war museum 15mit to walk. Westminster 45mit but it was ok. I called Uber service when we go far. Victoria station 12euro. It’s beautiful hostel. Clean. But It’s hard to carry luggage 4th floor. Actually It’s was 6floor. It’s ok free breakfast but I recommend buy breakfast. No complain this hostel for price.
R. G. (.
It's not really expensive, the staff is very nice. You have everything you need for your room. Breakfast was not expensive as well. There was only 1 problem and that was that it was very hot on the hallways and the rooms themselves. But a very nice place to Restup 😉
E. H.
The staff is really amazing as long as you are reasonable, actually chat with them! The area to sleep is a bit of a hole in the wall for the small area. Good for storing luggage in the locker. Make sure that you don't mind other people if you go alone -it is a hostel.
J. K.
Rooms are rather small, but comfortable enough. Breakfast isn't that bad, the best thing about it is that you can eat as mutch toast as you want. Giving 4 stars because of friendly staff.
M.
Looking for a simple, fairly cheap but still central place to live? About 15 minutes buss ride from Westminster you will find RestUp London. The staff seems to consist of mostly young adults, which were all very friendly to speak with. The room we got for me and my girlfriend was 50£ a night and we didn't have too high expectations. In the room was a double decker bed, a small bathroom with a sink and a shower. Toilets were shared by all guests. When we realized that the bathroom lights weren't working, we confronted the staff but got the answer: "It should work, I don't know how to explain it" and we didn't get further assistance. We made do with our phone flashlights and didn't mind all too much. We never ate breakfast at the hotel, but it seemed to consist of a European standardized breakfast and an English breakfast, prices around 4£.
K. J.
Clean but a little cramped, bathrooms were good and clean, but too few for the amount of beds, and bedding and pillows insufficient. Many stairs if you have big luggage.
F.
Really surprised with how good this Hostel is. Other than the lifts being out of action so having to lug my stuff up three flights of stairs (where it lost the star), it was really good with good value for money! Would recommend for any budget traveller
d. c.
Great place for cheap accommodation in London. There are plenty of dorms available, however, be mindful that this place hosts a lot of students. Although we did enjoy our experience, there are a few things to take note.
The proximity to elephant and castle station is approximately a 15 to 20 minute walk. There is, however, a bus stop directly outside.
The rooms can get a bit cold at night with the glass windows with gaps all around.
Wifi is only available in the lobby and not throughout the building - which isn't good if you do need to do any work.
L. G.
I short:
Pros:
- warm dorms
- very good common rooms
- clean
- nice staff
Cons:
- only three showers for entire floor
- only two bathrooms for entire floor
- only 4 power sockets in dorm with 30 beds
- not enaugh power sockets in common areas
I've been in this hostel last week of December. The building is very warm, cosy and clean, as yu can see in the pictures. Also the staff is very friendly, you can get every info you need. However...when I came to the dorm (30 beds), somebody was sleeping on my bed. I had to go to the reception three times and eventually i had to switch beds, because they did nothing. Last day of my stay a guard came in middle of the night, waking me up and saying that I am in the wrong bed. I said somebody was in my bed and we fixed this in one minute. So...this is a minus. But dorm was very warm, although it was very cold outside. The problem is, I could not close the window, so it stayed open a bit for the whole night. ALso there were only 4 power sockets for phone charging in the dorm for 30 people...and also not enaugh power sockets in common areas. I havent taste the food so I cannot say what the quality is.
On the end you get what you pay for, so for roughly 20 €/night it was a nice hostel, if you just need a place to sleep.
J. E.
I just stayed there for one night, compared to other hostels this close to the city it's really affordable. But you shouldn't expect too much for the small price you pay. The bathrooms were clean, and they have quite a huge area where you can stay and meet other people.
J. P. (.
Good place to stay for a few days. Surprise After check in is that the breakfast was included. Not very large but ok! Rooms are only accessable through lift, so at busy times you sometimes need to wait a little longer. Rooms are good with AC and toilet + shower. Would come again!
A. A.
You get what you pay for. Nothing more and nothing less. First experience at a hostel in London so I don't have a wide spectrum of alternatives to compare this one to. Still, the rooms are fairly small for just enoigh space to have one person comfortably standing up at a time, the baths are pretty dirty but nothing that I'd deem unlivable and the personeel is pretty helpful and efficient. Still, it gives the vibe of a place that is looking to sell you extras at every corner and I think I'll ever think of coming back unless I'm on a super strict budget.

Quite good hostel for a couple of nights. Staff is always available and friendly. I recommend to staff to clean the shared bathrooms for several times in a day (because some of them were filthy and hadn't a good smell).
S. W.
Stayed in a 33 bed dorm. Not cramped! Clean room. Bathrooms could be improved as a lack of windows led to them smelling. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
M.
Power points by the beds, best shower in an hostel. Good common areas. No curtain on bunks. No fresh air. The room was so disgusting by the time we woke up. Breakfast costs £4. Looks ok. Wifi downstairs only. Not the greatest location but there's a servo with an M&S food in it across the road. No microwave in the hostel though
Z. N.
Everything was fine, its a hostel, so what to demand? 🙂 Clear booking, clean and good location. The building is beautiful with veeeeery nice decorations!! Tv room, lift, bar, garden, good location. It was worth the price. We met nice people. Nice place.
J. L.
Rest Up London is located at a convenient location where it is slightly outside city area but yet accessible to anywhere else by walk, bus or tube. The room is rather small and bed frame is squeaky. However, for the affordable price for the accomodation, it is alright for some rest from travelling. Additional plus point, the staff of the hostel are awesome and helpful; and the coffee brewed from the cafe is pretty amazing!
F. T. P. A.
Super clean and nice! There's no private lockers for every visitor and they're not included on the price, same with laundry. I would love if they left open the terrace more time to party!
E. G.
For me it was a good stay. The room, the linen, the bathrooms were clean. It was as we expected from the descreption on their website. Nothing more, but nothing less!
I have nothing to complain about the area even. Having the busstop near the hostels door is a very good thing, we got everywhere we wanted very fast an easy!
E. M.
The place is ideal for short time staying in London. The area have easy access to the tube lines and the crew is friendly. The down side it that they don't have lockers for each bed, so you have to pay extra for it, and it is a bit expensive because you have to pay every time you need to open and close it. The rest it was the standard for hostels. I would recommend if you are on a budget.
A. E. R.
There was no WiFi in the rooms so you could only use it in the lobby. Beds weren’t super comfy. They did offer breakfast and were fairly close to public transit.
P. G.
Elevator was broken entire stay and it was a 5 minute walk through halls and stares going up and down just to get to room. No lockers in room and bedding is cheaper than prison. Staff were helpful.
R.
Okay place compared to the price. The rooms are small and the floor is often dirty. The breakfast was fine but boring with a small selection. Our doorknob fell of and it was therefore hard to close it.
D. S. (.
Hostel quite central! With a bus stop literally on the doorway, easy commute to Central London!
The location has been refurbished, and it looks so cool, rooms fairy large and bed fairy comfy, you get what you pay obviously, but as average, this is a really good hostel!
Staff also helpful and friendly
J. N.
Inexpensive and well-located hostal. Email did not indicate that the £10 deposit was cash only, but atm is on site. Staff is friendly, and buffet breakfasts are available cheap. Off hours diner can save you a trip out. Bring towels though, they are not provided, but can be rented. However, they are laundered offsite and they may run out.
L. M. (. M.
It's usually cheapest in London. For the price they offer quite a lot. I liked the large lobby and food halls, good Wi-Fi and the fact that they serve food and drinks. Breakfast prices also acceptable. What I didn't like is that they hang on strictly to the 3 pm check-in policy, no kitchen or at least a microwave. The big dorm is obviously very noisy. Location is quite good, some cheap fish and chips places nearby.
A. C.
Quick and easy multiple shared rooms with many people. Nice uk themed decor. Friendly helpful staff.
Wait for cabs/taxis outside next to bus stop and look out for them.
Cabs n taxis can briefly stop infront of black gates just after the main entrance. Busy road.
B. C.
Nice place, clean and cheap, only downside was check in wasnt until 3pm so had to wait around and they put us next to 2 rooms of screaming 12 year olds from some kinda sports team who were running up and down screamimg all night then shouting and banging doors waking everyone up at 7 am as there coach was shouting at them to get ready then had to check out at 10 am with a poor nights sleep. Would stay again though
S. S.
Excellent location if you are visiting London on a budget and the Ministry of Sound is high on your list of priorities. I found it to be clean and full of a friendly crowd.
But if you are in London for more traditional sightseeing it's not the most centrally located hostel (i.e. a 15 min bus/25 min walk to Tower Bridge, which is the closest big tourist sight).
Essentially, I would recommend Restup, but only if you prefer a quieter stay or the more central (party) hostels around London Bridge and Camden are all full.
If my review was helpful to you, please give me a thumbs up 👍🏼 Thanks!
P. E.
The place is not so bad actually. The main problem is the lack of space and intimity in the bathrooms. The people do care about how and when you can come and take a room. It is open 24/7 and that's very cool.
Anyway this place is very cheap and breakfast is free so it's really worth it.
J. T.
When visiting London with school we stayed at Rest Up hostel London. It's a great place to stay if you are with a group of young people. The breakfast isn't much but it is good quality (except for the coffee). I'd suggest bringing something like Nutella because all you'll get is ham cheese and cucumber, or cornflakes. Instead you can also buy a full fledged English breakfast, but I didn't try that as we were kind of in a hurry to see everything with school. The beds are in good condition, but the rooms heat up very easily even tho the windows were open. Overall the service was good and we got everything we needed. Of course this isn't a 5 star hotel, but if you need to stay in London with a group I don't think you can get a more fun place than Rest Up
E. T.
Rooms are okay. Tiny but clean. But no shelves or places to keep your clothes, no lockers in the room. The whole hotel is really nice and well arranged, nice decors.
R. S.
Really nice staff here and really accommodating. They advised on the nearest parking. Only downside was the door didn't fit to the floor all the way so u could hear all of the hallway noise including people talking until all hours. I would happily stay here again if I was in the area.
D. R.
Stayed 3 nights. Double ensuite with boyfriend. Overall a FAIR stay and good if you are on a budget. No wifi in the rooms, just in the communal areas. Large and medium lockers available for storage/keeping things safe (coin operated). Very …

Not open at the moment

Beds are ok, a bit small bathroom so don't know how a fatter person would/is showering. A bit noisy but you can fall asleep. Plug ins to charge your phone and every bed has a separate light. There is a place where you can store your …

The hotel is well located, the surround area is calm and well served by buses. The staff is really nice as well as the rooms and services they offer.
B. M.
This place is ansolutely WONDERFUL. I'm so happy with my stay. They are friendly, the place is clean, and it's such a wonderful experience.
M. D.
The hostel is huge, lovely staff with very well mantained and clean facilities. During my stay ive noted 2 downsides of this hostel. It does not have a kitchen, we are forced to spend money buying food outside or from them. The lift does …
I. W.
A funky and interestingly-decorated hostel with friendly desk staff. There's an on-site restaurant but its hours are limited and service is often interrupted for special group events. Wifi doesn't reach the rooms so expect to use it only in …
P. G.
Elevator was broken entire stay and it was a 5 minute walk through halls and stares going up and down just to get to room. No lockers in room and bedding is cheaper than prison. Staff were helpful.
O. D.
Lovely building and good staff, very reasonable price for the big dorm, but only one window opens in a room of 33! Had a very hot night, and wouldn't take much to get some airflow into the room...
K. K.
I had a very good experience there although the place wasn't best. The rooms are like in a prison cell or a hospital and so they aren't really cozy. There's a kind of living room which is a really nice place with a TV, sofas, etc. The food wasn't the best but it's forgivable.
J. A. M.
Comfortable, chill and cheap to stay overnight. Perfect for the price. The neighborhood isn't as relaxed, but a good place in general.
J. P.
Clean n friendly hostel totally worth the cheap price. Best for backpackers. Only problem is it is 10-15 mins walk from nearest metro station - elephant and castle.
J. R.
Brilliant place to stay and family friendly in the heart of London.
Staff are great and will help you with sight seeing tours and a comfy night's sleep for the traveller who likes to travel light and simple.
A. W.
For a tenner a night its ok , breakfast is a tad pricey but where else are they going make non negligible revenue. One small complaint would be the bathrooms the could be mopped more frequently.
D. C.
I would describe this hostel as completely adequate. Wifi was weak, and the bedsheets weren't fired so they kept popping up, but aside from that I have no complaints. Worth what we spent for sure.
M. G.
The cheapest hostel in this area of London. Cheap rooms are very small but clean. Lobby/common area is really nice and well arranged, however sometimes there is lack of place on sofas. For this price - it's really good!
A. C.
Good place to stay in London at a very cheap price. It's close to the Elefant and Castle subway station and there is a bus stop in front of the hostel. The facilities are clean. If you are not too choosy this is the place for you!
A. R.
Clean rooms, good organization, friendly staff. Showers need more coat hangers though and noise bleeds into the rooms from outside. Ear plugs are a must
K. L.
Clean and well organized, but no hostel vibe. You cannot charge your phone in the room (!) And the shower is quite umcomfortable.
R. T.
The hostel is wonderful, but would bot suggest the 33in1 room sharing option. The rooms get congested with so many people at once and the worst thing is that they dont even have power sockets or wifi in these rooms. Staff is really friendly and they have cheap coffee
M. D.
Location is a bit far from places like Piccadilly and Westminster, but the value is great. It does the job by providing a place to sleep and shower (nothing more, nothing less although you will either need to bring your own bath towel or rent one for 2 pounds).
W. C.
It is just for one night stay. Only bunk beds and a small sink in the room. Public dining room, social room with sofas for internet usewere kind of cozy. No internet, AC in your room. It is just hospice. Don't expect too much.
D. K.
nice lovely place , great for groups and Youngs . The location is not far from the center of london it's about 2.5 km.. but you can get the elephant and castle station with 750m and go where you want. clean rooms and good heating , hot showers water, and finally very friendly staff...
j. w.
Near to subway station, walkeble distance, nice and helpful staff, clean rooms (even domitory rooms) very nice ambience, morning breakfast you can get with payment, felt very safe eventhough i was alone and thay's very important, i just Loved this place. Will visit again if i can.
S. T. S.
The place is cheap, so the rooms are worn. We use Restup for school trips with students who want to spend their money on other things besides accomodation. I've only good things to say about the service.
P.
It was cheap, and nicely locacated.
Not really much points of charge for phones, cameras etc. Oh and they only have chef for breakfast, not for lunch or dinner (only available for big groups not for all the hosts).
A. C.
Smelly and super narrow dorm rooms. Dodgy wifi. Bathrooms werent the cleanest, and checking in can take forever...for small children and kids under the age of 20...
A. V.
Great costumer service, the rooms were nice, hot showers are the best I would recommend to add a shelf for the showers to put your items, everything else amazing
S. T.
Busy place but affordable and near the metro. No fridge or cooking facilities as they seem to want you to buy their meals but a 5 minute walk from a market, Nando's and other restaurants.
S.
Good for what you pay. My only issue was the noise from the road
Single paned windows was its downside.. The lift didn't work either but my legs do.
O. H. R.
The location is good but not very close to center. The place is nice but the lockers to keep your things safe are expensive, they don't have connections at the rooms, you need to pay for recharge your phone.
O. B. (.
Typical hostel atmosphere, occasionally quite loud. Other than that a VERY central place, excellent pricing & Check in until 3am. Would recommend booking via airbnb
S.
Place was nice and well kept got the 4 person bed room but a big negative as there is no microwave or fridge service! This place reminded me of my old army boot camp.
I. P. (. .. b.
Its a normal hostel, not the best but not bad. The stuff is frendly also. I recommend to use the shower room at -2 level close to laundry is big and hot there.
A. G.
Stayed here a couple of times as it's very cheap, can be noisy if you want to go to bed early due to young foreign students/tourist groups. Typical Hostel style rooms/beds and towels are extra deposit. Quite out of the way but buses are just outside and can take you central.
K. P.
Not bad, because the restrooms ate very tiny and there is no isolation. So it's cold when you go into your room in autumn or winter...
J. D. L.
The rooms are OK, the bathrooms are dirty and the breakfast is really bad. The staff is friendly and the location is close to public transport.
L. L.
Very small and hot room, bathrooms and shower places were okay and weird bread with breakfast. Overall it was a good experience with nice people.
a. v.
The hotel is well located, the surround area is calm and well served by buses. The staff is really nice as well as the rooms and services they offer.
A. V.
It is okay for sleeping in the hostel not staying too long. The room is cold because of old Windows and it is really small. Reception is friendly. Not really quit at night. Kitchen closes at 6.30 pm unfortunately.
A. O.
Cheapest rooms have no power points which is really difficult. Don't use paid charging lockboxes. Half an hour only gets about 10%.
K. M.
Good hostel. We had a dorm for 6 people. It was clean. People were nice. Only subway was a bit far, but it was okay.
D. R.
I thought it was great everything considered. Yes there can be lots of people in rooms but really great vibe and inspired me to travel more and more!! 👌🏼
D. S.
The hostel is good... The price is good..m the staff are very good, just a few bathrooms for a lot of guests, and the alcohol that is not permitted on hostel that makes the trip a little expensive to drink just on pubs...
A. C.
Very small room, but it is what you pay for. Doubles had a shower and toilet. 4 person room has shared facilities. Quite muggy in room with temperatures outside at 8. Does the job though
J. P.
Clean n friendly hostel totally worth the cheap price. Best for backpackers. Only problem is it is 10-15 mins walk from nearest metro station - elephant and castle.
E. B.
I stayed in a 4 bed room's with another 3 friends, the bedroom was a little bit small, and there was one night that I woke up with a huge noise, it was the heating system of one of the bathroom that was broken. The breakfast is really bad, and overpriced. Try to eat in another place.
T.
Good for young back packers who like bunk beds, it's very clean and well run. the man who runs it is an amazing happy man
V. C. H.
It is quite cheap and well located. Moreover, it has a really nice breakfast. Nevertheless, the rooms are quite small and the food in general is really unhealthy.
D. B. (.
The rooms, bathrooms, staff, and breakfast are all great. Laundry room here. No kitchen to cook your own food. There is a market nearby
E. K.
Friendly staff. Lovely place, lots of stuff on offer like a their TV room, common room where you can order food or drinks. Got stuff on off if you a tourist like pubs crawls etc
J. H.
Really pleasant hostel. Accommodation was simple, but clean and updated. Guest facilities downstairs were excellent.
M.
Rooms were clean, staff were helpful, location is very close to ministry of sound and the elephant and castle station. Overall good experience for a very cheap price.
I. K.
Absolutely fantastic given the price. Very good location - Lidl - 10 minutes away by foot, Subway station 10 minutes as well. only minus is no parking spaces.
M. W.
Nice hostel, not too expensive and located close to the City. The rooms are clean, but could be a bit bigger.
j. s.
Nice place, cheap and near to a lot of interesting places, we stayed in a 2 bed room with a bath room (toilets are shared by floor), nice staff too.
L. O.
It was like sleeping on a prison mattress and pillow. Nothing in the tiny room. Location was decent. 10_15 walk to the Tube. Good food accross the street. Spend the few extra dollars and get a Airbnb.
M. “. -. L. G.
Nice location with a lot of young, international people. Breakfast is ok. The room is a little too tiny.
A. C.
Best and most reasonably priced hostel I've ever used. Location is fantastic for accessing the rest of London unless you want to go out on a weekday.
N. D.
Perfect for a short stay with friends if you want to keep your money for fun things and you just need a bed to sleep in. Breakfast wasn't even that bad considering the price.
j. b.
Pros
Nice and clean, cant ask for much more for the price you pay
Cons
You have to pay £2-3 for a locker every-time you open/close it
S. D.
Very reasonably priced... Staff friendly and welcoming... Rooms clean and good for the purpose of getting your head down for the night. My second time here.
B. F.
Decent location. Clean, with a labryinth-like set up and seemingly tons of rooms. Staff is a bit daft (sorry!), but still helpful and kind.
T. D.
A nice hostel to stay for one or two nights. Good location and fair price, but the toilets are very, very small.
J. T. C.
Everyboda was kind and helpfull, the room was cleaned. I ate there and the food great as well. If I go back in London I will rent a room there again.
D. C.
a great place to pop your head down for the night, staff were a little expectant and we had never stayed in a hostel before so that was a bit off putting.
K. S.
Very cozy and nice! You have to share bathrooms and go down to the lobby for wifi but the restaurant provided cheap and delishous food!
J. A. M.
Comfortable, chill and cheap to stay overnight. Perfect for the price. The neighborhood isn't as relaxed, but a good place in general.
A.
Very clean hostel, friendly staff
Bathroom is empty most of the time
There was no hot water in the shower :(
But I got free breakfast because of it!
L. E. P.
Not too far from touristic London.. staff is extremely helpful and friendly. However no alcohol allowed inside the premises be it's OK. Overall would stay again
S. R.
One of the best hostels, if not THE best, I've stayed in. Very clean and the bunks have great mattresses.
K. T.
Friendly helpful staff. The hostel has old style beds without curtains around and without individual lights.
J. M. R. H.
The hostal is such a nice place to sleep and relax after a hard day un turism, but it's a little bit far from the center.
J. G.
The beds were not the best and a towel was not in the price.. and the breakfast was also not that good but a good, clean and cheap place to stay
a. c.
wonderful hostel...changed my whole perception of how hostel should be...rooms are bit smaller but building itself is a great piece of history...would definitely recommend.
F. A.
The rooms were clean but slightly cramped (6 people room). We stayed on the top floor so we either had to walk up 6 floors or take the lift that never worked properly. Staff were great as they spoke multiple languages and could help out …
R. K.
Overnight stay whilst visiting friends. Bed was comfy. Staff very friendly
S. P.
Space in room is limited feels a bit claustophobic...great location though...!!!
M. T.
The location is great, but sleeping in bunk beds is not a pleasant experience for anyone. Otherwise the food and service is OK.
S. M.
It's good & clean place to stay with the price ranges
J. M. R. H.
The hostal is such a nice place to sleep and relax after a hard day un turism, but it's a little bit far from the center.

Grant atmosphere, friendly staff, a great place to crash in London
W. C.

Great place to stay at. Clean, warm and in great location.

Nice place, clean and cheap, only downside was check in wasnt until 3pm so had to wait around and they put us next to 2 rooms of screaming 12 year olds from some kinda sports team who were running up and down screamimg all night then …

J. V.
Great place to stay for cheap, great crowd, amazing staff, however rooms are small and bathrooms are not so clean
F. E.
Really nice Place to be, service is friendly and it's clean. I don't like that reservations can only make online with Kreditcard.
G. L. G.
Very clean and cosy. Very reasonably priced. Worth to stay a couple nights or more!
K.
Good Hostel. The staff were super helpful as I seemed to be the one coming up to them with multiple problems LOL. Over all, it was a very good stay.
F. Q.
Recepcionist was rude at check in, the locker was not included and the shower was too hot and not ajustable. The rest was good.
P. M.
The place was nice, didn't have much of a problem.
It would be great if they could install more charging points around :P
E. D.
It's a pretty decent hostel, no kitchen which is inconvenient. Apart from that it fulfilled its function well.
J. P.
Great location and excellent staff.
Small rooms, very poor sound and light isolation.
J. v. G.
Nice and old hostel, friendly people and in quite a good central location. Rooms aren't that special but not bad for this price in London
J. F.
4 people in 1 single bedroom, with 2 bunk beds is really cramped, it is cheap though, and it has good food
M. F.
Location was fantastic but the quarters where a little small. Showers were mixed gender and could get a little crowded
V. C.
The place is a bit massive. I didn´t find enough places for someone to relax and location is not ideal. But overall, for the price, is not a bad choice
L. K.
Pretty clean and quiet, breakfast was good, but beds are overly noisy, not happy with the shower and toilet facilities
j. B.
Genial, very cheap and good quality, only bad point because you have to pay extra 5 Pounds for breakfast 😭
R. F.
Ameneties are very basic. Clean but no table and chairs in the room.
A. D.
Average. Nothing about it stood out as exceptional when compared to other hostels I've stayed at.
c. g.
Cheap rooms, two guys at the desk very friendly.
J. H. O.
It's a nice place to stay, but I found the rooms quite small.
S. L.
Cosy rooms, communal areas and diner. Good for a group of friends. Could be more showers.
S. G.
Great place with good facilities. The only knock against it would be the sorry wifi. Other than that pretty great.
S. G.
Nice place and fine rooms, but nothing really to do and there is no alchol allowed.
X. K.
Clean and good facilities. Perfect for a cheap mid-week stay in zone 1.
C.
No hot water for three days, in JANUARY. Not too clean, but not bad for an hostel
T. o. I. a. T. o. y. a.
I liked this place and if your planning on backpacking this is a nice rest area to stop by at.
B. M.
Good location, cheap prices, reasonably clean, but the walls are thin and the wifi is only. in the lobby
B. A.
The rooms were too small and the beds were just plastic matts with a cloth on it on the iron bed casing.
A. M.
Beautiful and friendly place .. here you can make friends , sleep well and relaaax .. good choice to stay here within your holiday
S. H.
Clean and affordable place to stay. Close to the tube and lost of possiblities in regards to food and sightseeing.
F. N.
Nice cheap hostel, staff is polite and helpful. Easy check in.
V. M.
Fair place to stay. Good location but lack of cooking facilities isn't ideal.
F. M.
Great option for low budget. People are incredibly nice and place is very clean.
D. B.
The hostel was a great stay, but very dodgy place. Not a place for going out on your own
H. D. 1.
Nice enough for a night stop over. Clean enough room and staff seemed pleasant and helpful
T. A.
Clean, secure, safe. Free WiFi downstairs and staff are very friendly
R. S.
The best aren't that comfortable and the location could.be improved but overall it was an enjoyable stay.

I visited this place twice, the building is great and the food they sell is also fair however it was full of school kids from France and Spain,at night they were making a LOT of noise, it was very annoying 😕😕👎
F. L.
Nice hostel, great breakfast, small dorm, clean restroom and shower. A bit expensive.
M. P.
Clean place, 20 minutes from the center , helpful staff, good breakfast for extra payment, no common chicken

J. D.
It's a nice place, although a little noisy sometimes in the corridors.

Nothing to say, just a hostel.
They always trying to find ways not give back key deposit.
S. P.
Space in room is limited feels a bit claustophobic...great location though...!!!
A. C.
I personally think it was a bit over priced, but it had a clean room and a clean shower so that’s what matters.
E. C.
No elevator :(((((
And no hangers in the shower :((((
Otherwise, nice lounge.
T. J.
Small and dirty rooms but friendly staffs. Breakfast was okay.

M. W.
Cheap hostel in London, but very noisy at night kids running around and messing about until early hours
J. “. O.
Ok. Could be better, but for it's price it's ok. More possibilities to charge your phone would be useful.

At least it was clean and close to the center.
Bring your own towels to save 2£.
