We took a group of students for 2 nights, 3 days. The rooms were spacious with comfy beds and all the amenities needed with a very good shower to start the day, rooms 4040 to 4031. The staff couldn’t do enough to help, they were very cheery and nothing was too much trouble, they checked on our group and made sure we had space to leave our luggage and sit for a rest. The breakfast choices met everyone’s needs and started the day off well. Fantastic location near to Russell Square and a few small shops to pick up anything the students needed for the day.
Will definitely be going back with another group.

What can I say except that I an my party received exceptional care from this wonderful hotel and their staff and I can't thank them enough. Storm Eunice caused mayhem for our party and I have to admit I was very frustrated with the weather and the problems it was creating for my daughter and her families arrival. The hotel staff were so kind patient and courteous with me that I was bowled over by them. I know I was hard work but not once did they stop seeing to my every need and when my son in law and grandson had to be accommodated unexpectedly due to the weather the hotel pulled out all the stops for us. I am so grateful for all the staff there. The room was lovely, the food was fabulous. This was my first trip but it won't be my last.

I had a wonderful 3-day stay in this hotel, the staff was so kind and warm! the breakfast was excellent. The room was very clean, the incredible bed I spent very good nights. I recommend 200% this hotel. The porter was also very nice. It was a great stay with you!! thank you very much for your kindness do not change anything

My stay here was incredible! I stayed here for my 21st birthday because I celebrated it in London and the staff was going the extra mile for me. When we checked in they got us a room upgrade and on the morning of my birthday, the staff sang a birthday song and gave me a piece of cake. I was really surprised and it was amazing. It made my birthday even more special, so Thank you again!!

Excellent stay and amazing value. Stayed 3 nights and staff were unbelievable helpful and kind at every stage of our stay. The street side of the hotel upon approaching it gave me the impression we had paid such a good price that the hotel would be grim "you get what you pay for" however this was not the case, it was spotless with comfy and modern rooms, fresh decor throughout and an amazing power shower. we only ate there for breakfast but it was one of the best buffet breakfast we have had. 10/10 location wise as can walk to a number of sights and train stations within just a few minutes. Thanks for having us!

Loved my 2 night stay. Room spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed with great linen. Powerful shower. Good breakfast choices. Would stay there again in a heartbeat because as well as all the above great things the staff were the most friendly and helpful I have ever known in all of the hotels I have stayed in the UK.
B. W.
Functional. Clean and comfortable enough. Extractor fan in the bathroom would have been good. Very friendly staff. Why is it that guests these days seem to think they are in their own homes and shout and slam doors?! The "look at me, I'm important" generation. Plonkers

We stayed at this hotel when visiting London for running the marathon in October. Very good place for the purpose, quite and clean rooms, with everything a runner needs, like bathroom and coffee. Breakfast was absolutely satisfying and with many different options, everything tasted perfect and was fresh. My best recommendation, also for its location, very close to metro station Regent square, on walking distance from the British museum, Buckingham palace and everything in between

Excellent stay.
We stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and was okay. Now in December 2021 we’ve come back and this time the stay has been much better. The rooms are renovated- comfortable, clean, well equipped with an iron, hair dryer and the other basic amenities. Big thanks to the attentive maitres, the helpful receptionists and the extra kind housekeepers. So cool some of the staff speaks Spanish- they made all easier for my family who barely speaks English. Delicious full English breakfast is included. I do recommend this hotel. We’ll definitely come back!

Stayed before, but hotel has been decorated since then, at least in the city sleeper room we had. Check in was quick. Room was very nice, clean and modern. Car park was challenging to actually find a space to park after paid on entry, but security guard advised us to go down the ramp and park on the left - on the right was hire car returns parking. Breakfast was delicious, so much choice and plentiful.

Very nice and polite staff.
It's very clean everywhere including the perfect clean bathroom. The room is very warm.
I really didn't like the noise from street. We were on 5th floor and it was really noisy. Earplugs definitely recommended.
The breakfast is OK but it's nothing special.

Just had a fabulous two night stay in city sleeper room, really spotless, staff couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast also delicious. Will be going back later in the year. Thank you for making it special

Reasonably priced hotel. No double glazing in rooms so can be noisy at night. U was able to hear conversations outside while I was in my bed.
Hotel is very near Russel Park tube 5 min walk
Hotel appeared to be clean and tidy. Staff professional and polite.
Would stay again if I needed a cheaper hotel in central London.

Fantastic location. staff were friendly upgraded on arrival what more could you ask for. Room spotless housekeeping second to none no need for tubes walking distance to everywhere. Be back thats for sure.

Rooms cleaned daily we stayed in newer par
However they were 2 beds pushed together so there was ridge. Breakfast there was plenty of choice but the heat lamps over hot food don't keep it hot enough said
M. C.
Very clean and tidy. Nice facilities in the rooms, spacious and well laid out. Good food available on site. Pleasant and helpful staff. Only draw back for me is the windows are only single glazed so a bit noisy, especially overlooking the central squares where the sound echoes around.
M. F.
The room was a double it was very spacious and clean. Free safe to use. The bed was however, two singles pushed together which was a bit of a shame as a hard ridge down the middle of the bed. The windows and window ledge in the morning were soaked with water. The breakfast was great. I would stay again.

Room: The room is fine. However, I was surprised that there was no fridge. I was on a business trip, it was hard to work from room when no comfortable desk is available.
Breakfast: The breakfast room is usually not crowded. The food is not good as I was expecting, and there's no wide selection of vegetables/fruits to choose from as I'd expect from a good hotel.
Location: Good. There's a shopping area 2 mins walking from the hotel.
Staff: The staff is kind and helpful.

This hotel has been a pleasure from start to finish. Extremely polite staff throughout the hotel. Rooms were clean, comfy. Breakfast nice. Price was incredible. will stay again for sure.

Room was absolutely scorchio. They did turn the heating off after a while but stayed boiling for ages. Clean and tidy place. Helpful staff, good price for location too.

We stayed in the hotel Saturday 12th as we were celebrating my husband 50th birthday there. The whole experience was amazing since our 1st contact. They helped me organise the party and accepted all my requests. The food was outstanding considering my husband is a head chef himself and loved it. I didn't want the traditional serving dishes for the buffet and they agreed to do bowls instead. Everyone gave us so many compliments!!
The check in was really quick and smooth on the day, even though they have groups and it was busy I don't think we waited more than 10.minutes. The room was beautiful and they took care of us since the moment we arrived.
I was given time to decorate the room and the party went awesome!
Food, drinks, the bar, the waiters, the event coordinator, they all worked hard for us to have the best time.
They recommended us a DJ and I must say he was the best, we all danced and enjoyed ourselves.
We were around 50 people and everyone is still talking about the party.
We had friends from Spain, Belgium, Holland, Portugal coming over and got rooms for all of them in the hotel. They were really impressed with the rooms, the cleanliness, the hotel and the installation. They enjoyed the pub too and Blooms. The breakfast was included and it didn't dessapoint neither, good offer of food and great service!
We are very grateful and having the party there, such a great decision.
We will remember it for years to come!
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great stay or a party venue!

A lovely hotel, with very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. Recently refurbished to very good standard, excellent location. We will definitely be back.
C. Y.
Only parked here, wasn't staying. But the parking is reasonable and the hotel is accommodating to drivers who decide to park here. Well located for a coffee whilst waiting for passengers, but there's not enough room to park a full size coach, only a mini bus or midi coach.

Had a lovely weekend stay at this hotel for our annual visit to the capital. The staff we all really polite and helpful, breakfast was wonderful. Excellent selection of hot food and good continental selection. Rooms are a little tired, but the bathroom appeared to be recently refurbished and were very clean. We will definitely be staying here again.
We booked two rooms for three people for two nights.
Only small but slightly irritating issue was that at check in the receptionist asked for booking details which I had printed off. He then stated that this was a twin room and he asked for the name of the additional room occupant. I thought that this was strange but added my husbands name to the check in card. He handed me the keys and room information and directed me to the lifts.
I then pointed out to him that we had two rooms not one. He searched the system and located the 2nd room which we had paid for and was detailed on the paperwork.
It was only later in the day that we realised that he had assumed wrongly that there were going to be three people in one twin room and hence asked for the additional occupants information.
I am assuming that this was a genuine mistake and apart from this unfortunate incident we had a lovely welcoming stay at this hotel.
K. S.
Absolutely wonderful. Staff are so lovely and made myself and my daughter feel so incredibly welcome. Breakfast was fantastic, the room was perfect for us, so incredibly clean and extremely cosy beds, there's not one thing i can say negative at all. Another stay is currently being planned, we're looking forward to going back. Loved it ! Thank you for such an incredible stay.

Im very happy I chose this hotel for my stay. All the staff was really nice and friendly. The room we stayed in was nice and clean and the breakfast was amazing. They had a lot of items to pick from the breakfast bar. Definitely would stay here again.
T. H.
Very bad housekeeping. You could not get anything to hang in the door to get housekeeping or to not disturb. First day nobody did clean, second day they knocked on the door 9 a clock in the morning asking for cleaning. If they would have the signs do not disturb it would not be a problem. When they cleaned they was not so good and they forget to fill up the toilet paper
T. T.
nice location with good price which near tube station. nice staff and facilities. good option to stay for next morning Buckingham palace changing guards event.

The Royal National Hotel is splendid 👌 Firstly the staff are so friendly whatever their position really helpful and polite. The rooms are always being cleaned on time. Its cozy and warm ☺. Also you have a good view from probably every room because of the clever design.
Enjoy!

We stayed here on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital, even though we weren't paying customers, we were treated no differently. Staff were very friendly and room was lovely and clean.

Amazing stay at an amazing hotel!
Every staff member was so helpful and positive, room was crispy clean, breakfast buffet was outstanding! (They don’t advertise the vegan options, but when arriving we realised we could eat like royals. And that is VERY unique in a VERY positive way.)
We can’t wait to go back to London and again stay here.
Thank you’s to the whole staff, from the Hastings couple!
T. W.
Fantastic hotel and staff, the welcome was great. Luggage taken left luggage and ticket brought to us in the restaurant. Breakfast service was outstanding, staff were very helpful and really looked after an American couple who had just arrived after an overnight flight. Not our first stay here and won't be our last.
M. P.
Hotel is very convenience within walking distance to public transportation, entertainment, and food.
Full breakfast is included and they have wonderful selections.
Staffs are very attentive, polite, and very helpful with giving us directions and information.
We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are traveling on a budget.
T. B.
Nice rooms
Decent breakfast.
Lots of friendly staff.
Avoid getting a room facing the street. It was extremely noisy. And the wind was blowing into the room ... maybe also a few medium sized birds. The windows are terrible, like from the 1950s.
N. E.
Affordable, comfortable and central.
Staff are most caring and helpful.
Fabulous room and breakfast.
Excellent!!

We stopped at the royal national for 2 nights 19th November and we were pleasantly surprised when we entered our room. We were in a city sleeper room which had extra double doors to go through so was an added security and Looks like it has not long had a refurb. Very clean and tidy and the maids were excellent when I spilled my coffee over my sheets and was quickly at hand to replace with clean ones. There is everything you need at hand in the room, hairdryer, iron and ironing board,
tea and coffee and kettle. There are refugees in the hotel but they are in a different bit and dont use the same way out as paying guests. But they were no trouble and the kids were well behaved. They have security inside and outdoors. The outdoor security wear body cams so felt very safe here. Breakfast is amazing you wont be hungry if u stay here. Aircon was abit cold near the seats by the windows but the staff turned it down straight away for us to enjoy our breakfast without being to cold. Very good location for theatre, sight seeing and shops and buses are cheaper than the tube and very regular. I we will definitely stay here again 100% in a city sleeper room. Thanks royal national hotel london

Just had 3 nights in the Royal National from 31/08 to 03/09.
The staff were excellent and the breakfast choices outstanding. This must be the number 1 value for money hotel in London. Central location just perfect for sightseeing and theatreland. 10/10

The rooms have all been given a face-lift and are very good , service as good as ever with a very friendly and helpful staff , only gripe I've got is that the windows on the roadside are only 1 pane so you get all the traffic noise and people noise on a night and sometimes your kept awake quie a lot of the night
a. t.
The hotel room was nice and comfy, Reception and security staff was so welcoming and nice.
The only thing let me down was one lady in breakfast I believe she is the boss at breakfast area ,she was so rude and not welcoming always was wearing full suite and she got short blonde hair , rest of the staff was so welcoming as I mentioned.
R. H.
Clean and comfortable hotel with good day food.
The only downside is the size and large number of rooms. There are 4 pairs of lifts, but if you/have to take a wrong one, you will find yourself in the wrong side of of the building, and unless you have good sense of direction, it can be difficult. Especially for the elderly.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at this hotel. The bedroom was spacious and well appointed. There were plenty of electrical sockets and storage space . The bathroom was terrific with a shower having various settings for power spraying. Plentiful supply of soap, body wash and shampoo and thesee were replenished on a daily basis. The breakfast was good with both full English choices available as well as continental. Sanitising stations were plentiful as was the hygiene guidance- use of masks etc. Concierge service was spot on in terms of storing luggage until after meeting had finished. London is always hot but on the days I stayed daily temperature was in late 20's and so at night the room was really hot- so hotel could have benefitted from air conditioning. The staff at the hotel were pleasant, polite and very helpful.

Clean, friendly, good location. Hotwire/Expedia says this is a 4 stars hotel, it is not. A valid 3 stars, would recommend. Beds were very hard, there is no A/C. Double room was small but that's the norm in London.
L. B.
Was due to stay at the patient hotel for great ormand Street hospital but due to an issue I was put up here with my son prior to his op, the staff was beyond amazing. They was polite helpful and cheerful. I needed a fridge for my sons meds this was sorted without any questions and it was promptly brought to my room. The rooms themselves are so comfy and welcoming and had everything for a lovely overnight stay. Breakfast is included but due to having to rush back to the hospital it wasn't possible for me to stop but it did look lovely. Would 100% recommend staying here you will not be disappointed
E. L.
newly refurbished rooms very clean . Just needs double glazing and cleaning around the window. Door alarm was going off for hours and was ignored by cleaning staff who walked past and ignored it . Kept us awake
C. G.
Booked this as a last minute hotel for a weekend up in London. Really central and in the Piccadilly line which was amazing. Small pub attached to the hotel and surrounded by bus stops, making it easy to get to any place in London. Really enjoyed my stay with family.
J. R.
Upgraded to City sleeper rooms due to original hotel not being reopened. Excellent rooms and courteous staff, great outdoor bar area for relaxing and could not fault the breakfast. Will definitely look to book here again in the future.
B. S.
We were really pleased with our night here. Excellent, clean, comfortable room. Breakfast was really great with lots of choice. Easy check in and out.

All staff were helpful and lovely... rooms were bright clean modern..breakfast so much choice and really nice .. hotel made our weekend away an even more enjoyable

Love this hotel as a base for a city break. Friendly staff, clean generous size rooms, all you can eat breakfast, and central location.

Ten minute walk from Euston…great for dropping bags off and also picking them up on return date.
Where given an interconnecting room for myself, husband and 15 year old daughter. Needless to say my daughter was delighted with this!!!

Beds are quite uncomfortable. Breakfast buffet was nice. Good bathroom. Staff are really friendly.

Having stayed here many times before I have to say, this stay was no different to any other. Exceptional. Clean and spacious room, very polite and attentive staff. All staff make sure guests are are made to feel at home. Excellent attention is paid to guest's safety at all times and especially during this pandemic. I can't reccomend the hotel enough. Ideal for those with limited mobility. Excellent vegan breakfast and a choice of vegan options in the London Pub
J. M.
Well located, close to British Museum. Affordable and simple, in the London University area with lots of places to eat

"Best value for money, best location, great stuff, Room comfortable, variety breakfast , my favorite hotel for 5 years
G. R.
It was decent enough for what we paid but I seen a mouse in the kitchen to a porter and he came back with "wee rascal has been running round the kitchen all morning" so breakfast was cancelled and we headed to subway . . .
A. F.
Staff were very helpful & nothing was too much trouble. The room we had was lovely with fabulous bathroom with walkin shower. The breakfast was best ever had, loads of choice
D. N.
Excellant venue good covid compliance. I thouroughly enjoyed the function I attended in part bacuase if the service and environment.

Basic, but cannot beat the location. Breakfast was varied are included in the room price.
A. T.
Great visit, requests carried out super quick especially considering the amount of people checking in at same time, lovely rooms although a bit warm even with window open! Breakfast was tasty and able to your room
R. H.
Fantastic hotel, friendly and helpful staff great rooms (I was bumped up to the City Sleeper, very nice) and a really good location. Breakfast was damn good too.
Stayed here while my regular hotel is closed for refurbishment and I'll definitely stay here again.

Good venue for lego convention but no facilities for tea/ coffee

The hotel is huge and even if you stay in town by yourself, you never feel alone and there is a constant movement at the hotel. Next to the hotel there is a pizzeria and also several coffee shops, a lovely park and a tube station is also nearby-about five minutes walk and has one line which is one of the most important in town and also arrives to Heathrow. You can also go by foot to the British museum-20 minutes walk, and to Oxford street at Tottenham court side. It’s a nice area to escape to from the commotion of the touristic areas around town.
However, there are several things you should take under consideration if you choose to stay there. First , the rooms are very small and not clean. Second, the staff is always very busy since the hotel is huge and groups are constantly arriving. Third, breakfast is the most terrible I have ever eaten in London. It’s basically butter , bread and jam. If you want an egg you should pay for it. Nevertheless, it didn’t really bother me because there are wonderful coffee shops nearby. If your budget is low I would definitely recommend you to stay there, but if you are looking for something more exclusive, you should pass.
S. S.
Overall very pleasant and I recommend the sausage if you have breakfast in bed
E. F.
It's not a big deal of hotel but it's affordable. The facilities are a bit old, but the rooms are big, you have kettle in them. The free continental breakfast is a bit basic (cereals, cold milk and toast), but it's not recommedable to pay 5 extra pounds to get the English breakfast (it's not very appealing either). If you want to have a decent accommodation, in a nice location without paying the high rates found in London this is your best choice.
M.
Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, made our stay perfect. The breakfast was ok but could have been hotter but was still nice.
D. N.
Good value. Pretty good location. Fantastic parking facilities!! Nice rooms.
S. W.
Only used the parking, but lovely atmosphere surrounding it and reception area and staff were lovely
B. R.
Very nice hotel , got upgraded free of charge. Very comfortable with friendly staff
M. L.
Went to use a stall in an exhibition. Facilities ok. Underground parking available. Just inside the congestion charge zone so £15 payable to use car to this location
M. J.
Great place, good service and not far from great ornment street hospital 7 mins walk as sons appointment was there.

I have stayed at the Royal National hotel twice now. It is clean, staff lovely and a very nice breakfast.

Nice hotel, kind staff and fine breakfast.

Just everything you need for a stay in London. Nothing too fancy, great buffet style breakfast and close to everything to need

Went to the hotel for the London Film Fair. Lovely, polite staff. Will be staying there in November. Thanks all.

I was staying in a City sleeper room, and i was very pleased with my stay. Haytam at the reception was very friendly :) The rooms are completely renewed, and very comfy. All the staff really trys to make your stay a great stay :)

For food and staff superb. Didn't stay there so can't comment on rest of the place

My current regular hotel in London. Good Bloomsbury location, with the London Pub next door which has a nice beer garden with a big screen.
B.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, and provided all typical services, such as taxis and laundry. The breakfast facilities can be crowded at peak times but food was fresh and enjoyable. The place was clean and no smells. Good location, 5 min walk to British museum.
Only complaint would be that bed was quite springy and uncomfortable and pillows were very thin, however staff were happy to provide more pillows. Inner courtyard can echo noise into your room also, however closing the window worked pretty well to stop the noise.
B.
Good stay. Nice room.

The rooms at this hotel are very basic but they do have all you need for a night or two. Our room is beautifully clean. There is tea and coffee, hairdryer and TV. The beds are comfy with lovely white bedding. The hotel has 4 different eating places attached to it with excellent prices for London. The price of our room was £55 each. That was a twin bed room for me and my Mum. The bar is open until 1am. Breakfast is included with the room and we really enjoyed it. It has all the usual foods you would expect. I definitely highly recommend this hotel. I have stayed here 3 times now and the service has always been excellent and the prices are very good for London
E. W.
The outside doesn't do it justice. It's a huge hotel but inside the rooms have been renovated, and have a very good finish. The bed was comfortable and my inner room was quiet. Could do with altering the door closing mechanisms as mine and a few others would slam shut very loudly. The evening carvery/ buffet was reasonably priced, though I felt the food itself was a bit average. Breakfast was good despite the huge amount of people trying to get food. Food choices were good quality, but the range was little limited - could benefit from fruit salad and pastries aswell. Hotel very clean. Would definitely stay again.
V. F.
Very good located, walking distance to British Museum and all the tourist attractions. Staff very nice and friendly, very helpfull. We were in the “city sleepers” area and the rooms were very comfortable, nice beds, nice bathroom, everything renovated. Buffet breakfast was delicious!. Everything was perfect in our stay. I strongly recommend this hotel
A. B.
We use this for meetings regularly. The food is always of a good standard. Unfortunately, they have put the prices up. We'll have to see if it's still good value for money.
A. P.
I only give it 3 stars because of the location, which is excellent. Apart from that, the rooms look dated, furniture is old and you can notice the decay in the wallpaper and ceiling. My room was very close to the lifts, which was perfect, but my friends stayed in a room too far away from the lift and they had to walk a lot. Only soap, no shampoo in the bathrooms. Windows open just a little crack (which I consider is the best thing since they don't have any other kind of protection and you don't want to fall all the way down) but this means that the rooms are not ventilated enough. I went at the end of the summer and it was not too hot, but there's no AC, so I don't recommend going if it's 26°C + outside! My room had a wonderful view to the street, but that meant it was a bit noisy at night.
People at reception were nice and friendly, sometimes a bit overwhelmed by the crowds coming with the tour buses. One thing was funny, when I called reception from my room, it directed me to another hotel, something I would have never imagined was possible!
T. C.
Paid £75 for a night. For the price it was good. My room wasn’t ready on arrival so I got an upgrade to a “club” room which I didn’t really like. The room was on basement level and the view was that of a wall. The table was dusty and the pillows had a stain on them. Just check the room beforehand. They have a basic free continental breakfast not much variety. Room was okay for the price. Located just a 5 min walk from Lancaster station.
R. G.
Booked for our third visit to the hotel, but booked through a third party as was cheaper. Unfortunately we were given a triple room for a couple (and they kept asking where our child was despite clearly only two of us being there). Facilities were good, however on our first morning we had to miss breakfast. Despite getting there at 8am, the room where our breakfast should have been was closed for an event. So we went to the other breakfast room and the queue was so long and we had things booked for an hour later. Decided against waiting and went back the next day. This time it was open but again busy and you had to find your own table. When you book direct it's easier as you can select your room clearly, and the breakfast room is cleaner and more professional then the general one. Will stay again though as it's a great location and the price is good for this
S. R.
This hotel was really nice, and very conveniently located compared to the tube and places of interest. The front desk staff was very helpful and courteous (and very kindly let us check in 2 hours early after our long overnight flight here), and the cleaning staff was respectful of our items in the room and efficient. They had a nice deep bath in the bathroom that I was able to relax in at night, and the floor we stayed on was quiet and comfortable. I would love to stay in this hotel next time I come to London.
D.
Was really surprised how nice this hotel was. Although I paid £116 for a double room for 2 looking at all the other prices in this area they were way more and the only one I found cheaper than this was £97 and had a shared toilet so I half expected this place to be pretty low budget but the room we had was lovely with en suite.Very clean and seemed newly decorated a little annoyed with myself for not taking a picture as it was really quite fresh and modern. On the downside though the breakfast was so rubbish. Walked into the dining room looked around and saw no trays thought maybe they'd ran out and spotted 2 that needed a wipe but good enough only to be told no that's not allowed what they expect you to do is carry your drink and plate and load food onto your plate somehow?? The sausages looked raw not even slightly brown apart from one or two. The eggs were like rubber never have I seen a fried egg that actually looked like the giant sweet version the yolk was solid! Would stay again but wouldn't accept the free breakfast not even worth free! The staff were also quite rude at breakfast to the point I nearly complained. But on the room alone I'd definitely stay again.
P. G.
I have read a lot of mixed reviews on this place so here's the deal - this place is basic and clean, in a fantastic location and at a great price (we paid £70 per night for a family room). It is used by groups of teenagers on school trips but we had no bother or noise at all. The room was spacious, furnished in a very basic, dated but perfectly acceptable way, clean, with comfy beds and spotless bedlinens and towels. The public areas are also basic and there seems to be thousands of rooms. We didn't eat here, not even breakfast as we prefer a cooked breakfast on holiday anyway, so i don't know what the food is like but the hotel is great for the money! I would definitely come back.
M. A.
Functional but unattractive hotel with quite a confusing layout. Good location near Russell Square tube and on a bus tour route. Quite an old and ugly building, not a very pleasant environment.
The refurbished City Sleeper rooms are very nice but no air conditioning. I don't know what the standard rooms are like.
Reception was pretty good.
Car park is underground and pretty horrible but did the job and has electric car charging (a big reason why I chose the hotel). No lift out of the car park that I could find!
Breakfast was pretty good. The pizza cafe adjoining the hotel were struggling and our pizzas took over an hour to arrive.

Really enjoyed our stay. It was only one night but the staff we met were all nice and helpful. The room was nice, a decent size so plenty room for me, my son and partner. Barhroom again, nice and it had a bath and shower over the shower over the bath so perfect for us. Unfortunately didnt make it to have breakfast so cant comment on that. But overall would stay again in the future

nice place but nothing special...inside the bathrooms there are only soaps and there is no bubble bath. However the cleaning of the rooms is good but the rooms facing the street are too noisy because of the traffic is because of the windows that do not guarantee adequate sound insulation. At night it is hard to sleep due to traffic noise. I recommend staying in an interior room overlooking the courtyard.

Very nice hotel for the prices. Clean and modern bathrooms. The breakfast could be more organized, but anyway was good.
The beds are comfortable and staff are very lovelly. The windows are not very proof of sound but was not a very good problem. The room I got was the city sleeper type.

The location is excellent: close to a tube station Russel square, there is a bus stop nearby, also you can walk (15 - 20) minutes to many sightseeings. The staff was pretty friendly and the room was clean and neat. There are also a lot of …

Great rooms, newly refurbished. Staff very attentive. Good value for money.

This is a large hotel complex. In fact, all the rooms face a large rectangular courtyard. The yard is also a bus parking lot. Clean, comfortable, but catering is done on a large scale. It's in a good place. Right in the heart of downtown London, close to the British Museum. Don't expect anything brilliant, but overall I recommend it!

Great place to stay. Staff excellent all ways polite and friendly. breakfast excellent no compliment what so ever

I asked for a quiet room on the top floor and was granted my request. The room and bed were very comfortable and simply but tastefully decorated. Fine for one night's stay. …
A. A.
Perfect location and affordable prices. A bit noisy during the night, but overall a good experience for tourists that are more into spending time outside of the hotel and just need a place to rest for a while.
V. M.
I was very fortunate to get a room in the newly refurbished part of the hotel (city sleeper) which is like night and day compared to some of the other rooms! The City Sleeper area sees the rooms brought bang up to date. The bed was comfy, the facilities were good, the shower was amazing. My only complaint was the heating was by radiator which was behind a heavy curtain (need to keep the curtain open to benefit from the heat) and it was either on or off - don't go out for the day and leave it on or your room will be like a sauna! The other issue was the hairdryer was under the desk on a coiled cable that had no give in it whatsoever. I had to dry my hair sitting on the floor under the desk!
The complaints are minor and didn't detract from my stay. The room was clean, modern and quiet and in a great central location. I was a corporate client so I can't comment on value for money.
M. T.
Good price and good location, but don't expect anything else. The hotel is very old, and it's easy to get lost in the corridors. The rooms are old too and not too much clean. The same with the bathroom which is very tiny and a little bit dirty. The personal is not very nice. It has a conference room which is quite big and nice.
C. V.
Good value. Comfy beds. Clean rooms. Good English breakfast. Friendly staff. Had a free dinner on our first night which was nice. Nothing to complain about. Our room was located close to the lifts which is great for convenience but we could hear one of the machines working from our room which could get a bit annoying if you stay in.
T. H.
The hotel itself is good. The room is spacious enough and the bathroom is OK. Everything is clean and on the whole, the experience has been good. However, there must be improvement in the dining room at breakfast because the whole thing is very messy. The food is OK but it is very difficult to find a table, even for 2. So I don't even want to imagine when there is a family of 4!! A shame!
R. B.
A good room if you choose the city sleeper option - comfortable bed, newly decorated, on a separate corridor with the doors card operated. Very quiet which is impressive in central London. Suspect other parts of the hotel were not so quiet as many large groups of noisy teenagers in the reception area. The dinner on the first night - included in the deal was unimpressive. Adequate is probably the best description - mainly a carvery with tough beef & vegetables sitting in water. The melon starter & carrot cake dessert were better. There was one vegetarian option. All served in an environment reminiscent of a college refectory. Breakfast was better - served in a more attractive area - again part of the deal I think. Porridge probably made by someone who has never eaten porridge but otherwise ok. Some limitations in speaking English among the staff which was tricky at times. By contrast the receptionist who checked us in had excellent English & very friendly & welcoming. I would stay at this hotel again but not bother with the dinner.
A. M.
Enjoyed a two day stay at the Royal National. Was lucky to be upgraded to a city sleeper room which had everything I needed in a super clean modern twin en-suite room. I was present when the room was serviced and the task was carried out thoroughly. I spoke with several of the reception staff and all were friendly and helpful. Overall a good bargain for the part of London I needed to be and handy enough for the theatre using the 91 bus service.
One suggestion would be to have multilingual notices in the corridors to remind excited visitors with an early start that others were still sleeping.
J. F.
***No Air conditioning*** The room is okay. Not sound proof at all like others are saying. But the biggest problem is no air conditioning. I've never even considered having to check on that in any hotel I've ever stayed at. The room is hot and all that can be done is open the window a crack or ask for a fan that is tiny. Bed was uncomfortable. Location was good but not much else going for it other than price.
E. M.
I when here for the show masters film convention and it was easy to find, with good size rooms for the convention. The fact it is all on one level makes it easier for those who have less mobility and there is a disabled bathroom. Very classy hotel and what I saw of it lived up to the advertising
M. B.
It is a great environment with kind, friendly staff! It is perfect for a family with lots of tourist attractions nearby such as the Royal Courts Of Justice!
The rooms were clean and tidy with nothing on the floor or beds. The bathroom was clean and so was the carpet!
One problem, however was that the TV in my room did not work but other than this it was great!
I had gone as part of a school trip but I will definitely return!!
A big thankyou to all of the staff who worked there!
A. S.
They were very friendly. We booked online and they gave us a free three course meal the first night In London at their restaurant. Their staff in the restaurant were so precious and the food was GREAT! we also had a great check in process and they have a luggage drop prior to check in and then they upgraded us which was also nice of them. Clean hotel. I’ve enjoyed this all very much and we haven’t even slept yet haha but the only thing that throws me off is we can’t control our heat or air. That’s the only thing I’m not a fan of so far.
D.
Decent accommodation for the price and location. The shower had a bit of mould and the shower actually hits part of the ceiling, which protrudes down, makes it hard to shower if you're taller than 6ft. Obviously you cant avoid this in an older building like this. Staff were friendly and helpful.
S. S.
Lovely place friendly and helpful staff and lovely breakfast
S. b.
Brilliant!!! We got 4 star service. Staff had impeccable manners. No question too trivial. Breakfast was brilliant with great selections and piping hot food. Hotel had large groups of children polite and well supervised. Room was silent and very well laid out. we paid half compared to other hotels in the same neighbourhood.
A. N.
The nice strong hot shower is the best thing about the room. Needs updating and thorough cleaning. WiFi is limited and spotty with only 2 outlets total in a triple room. A short step up from a hostel at hotel prices. Very lite continental breakfast. Hot Breakfast available for more money.
D. B.
Stayed in city sleeper section, quite impressed with quality of the room.
B. R.
Stayed in a updated room which was more modern than images on website which was great! Breakfast was large self service canteen area, lots of choices and fried breakfast as an extra. Struggled for gluten free cereals but fried breakfast choice ex sausage was fine! Tea quite a lot to choose from but doing building works so a little random in restaurant. All meals have ingredients list which was helpful! Good place to stay to explore London
C.
I had the city sleeper room. It was a nice comfortable bed but I could hear everything outside even with the window closed on the fourth floor. The dinner wasn't great but breakfast was nice. Communication with the front desk is difficult with a language barrier. The boiler is clearly off over night as none of the hotel had hot water at 6am. Not great but not bad. The price is reasonable for the location
S. K.
Well... Not the worst place I've ever stayed. Rooms are about 100 pounds per night, which seems pretty expensive, but I do not know how does it compare to other hotels' prices. It's very big and crowded, mostly with young people, students. Seems that every floor (~7 floors total) has about 300 rooms. Maybe one day it was a cool luxury hotel, but that days are gone. Corridors look aged, though the rooms are renovated and clean. But small. Breakfasts are poor, but there are better options for 5 pounds. Still, it's better to spend 5 pounds for a breakfast in another place.
A.
gigantic building complex near the university poles. The rooms are small and everything is still in the 80's. The elevators are always busy! Cleaning is not the best. friendly staff, although Italian and I like sweet breakfast, the latter is really vast! The location is very central, just 2 minutes from the Russel metro station. On foot from this point you go everywhere ... if I go back to London I will definitely choose it. the price is low and justified
H. T.
We stayed in the 'city sleeper' part of the hotel which had recently been refurbished. The quality of the room decor and comfort of the room was great, and the included breakfast was fantastic. A very handy city centre location. Particularly handy is the left luggage room, where you can leave a bag all day for 50p. Great for a short stay in the city centre.
H. Q.
First of all, it should be noticed that the location of this hotel is absolutely GREAT. Approximately 5 mins walk to the underground station, and quite near to the British Museum and Kings Cross. However, it should also be noticed that the facilities need to be improved, and the room need to be cleaned more carefully. With all the regards and respect, I would rate this hotel a strong 3 stars: great location, considerable food, and the room cleanliness which needs to be improved.
R. M.
We were very lucky with an upgrade to the CitySleepers part of the hotel. Although the room was rather small, the bed mattress and pillows were excellent. Breakfast was simple British and there was yogurt with berries. The service at the reception was fine but we were with friends who were treated horribly and without respect. It is after all a hotel factory.
L. N.
We spent 2 nights here, having stayed with them earlier in the year we got a free upgrade to the city sleeper rooms which were very comfortable. As part of our package we got our first nights 3 course meal free which was a carvery this was fabulous value. The breakfast was full English with plenty of choice. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This was perfect location near Russell Square for our Christmas treat
H. P.
Very good location. Easy access when traveling in groups because the bus can park in the inner court yard, making it safe for every one to get in and out of it. Underground near by. Great tour suggestions. Breakfast needs a little upgrading. Fresh fruit would be nice. Hair drier and shower gel in the bathrooms would make a huge difference. Otherwise very good considering the prices lots of portuguese nice staff working there.
K. D.
I've been staying at the Royal National for 10 years and will keep going back. It's not the flashier hotel in the world, but the new renovations are fab! The hotel was quite dated and it really needed it.
Clean, comfortable and with a decent breakfast! The location is great, 1 stop or a 20/25 minute walk from Kings Cross Station and 3 stops to Leceister Square station. And 5 minute walk from Russel Square station.
J. V.
Very practical, central, yet with beautiful parks adjacent to it. Very good value for money - it's the firth time I stayed here and saw a huge improvement in the restaurant's decor and quality of food - definitely recommended and will surely stay there again.
What I would improve is the Luggage Room. They give you a numbered ticket and they do not store them in numerical order. When you go back they tell you to hunt for your luggage and it will of course take ages! If luggage is already numbered, then why not putting them in numerical order?!?
A. D. (. L.
Very comfortable stay. Room was clean and a good size. Bathroom was modern and clean. Breakfast was adequate. Only let down was the decaffeinated coffee, they brought a Nescafé sachet and pot of hot water. However for the price I couldn't grumble. In the extreme heat air conditioning in the room would have been appreciated
C. G.
It's a very very big hotel and yet has excellent organization. Clean, tidy and comfortable. It's near the underground wich comes in very handy and if you enjoy a bit of adventure you can ride the red buses. The 168, for example, leaves you right in front of the hotel door.
I recommend buying the Oyster card that can be used in all public transportation.
We booked through a website and when we arrived they told us we had been upgraded to the new section. The rooms are very spacious.
k. k.
We had a Fundraising Dinner Dance there. The night staff are very very pleasant. There were so much restrictions booking the place but the night staff made it worth it.
The food was lovely. The caterers are very nice and accommodating to your needs. Would recommend the place.
R. F.
The stay at the Hotel was quite pleasant, especially so considering the cost/location factor. Breakfast could be improved, and an initial slight problem with hot water in the room, but other than that, all was aboveboard. If I'm in London again, I'll stay at the Royal National!
G.
Only visited for a wedding reception. Appeared okay. Disable toilet on the ground floor locked and have to request key you can just imagine some incontinence to happen.
Other toilets are on the first floor. They are roomy and modern too.
7hrs parking for £14 is not bad for the location
j.
Staff friendly , rooms comfortable , decor a bit dated .
Nice bar in courtyard.
Craft lager £3.75 good price for London. Also very friendly staff and good food.
The only drawback was trying to find my room . Endless corridors . Once you find your room the layout is easy.
So look forward to staying there again
T. S.
Staff very helpful and accomadating can't do enough to help very smart and friendly will use again
L. S.
The hotel is in a awful building and it's like an honeycomb inside but the service was good and the price fair. We also had a bathtub so it's really nice. Not a five star cause it has his limitations and cause the breakfast was horrible. Ok we are in England but no one of the guests almost are so why put this England breakfast that only English people can eat. No fruit, nothing not super processed. I'm not asking for a vegan meal but only for few bananas or a veggie option. Every place in London has that.
Moreover some little mafia tried to steal us 50p for luggage hosting while it should be free. When we said that they left us go free without questioning.
M. #.
It's definitely a 5 star hotel very nice
J. R.
I've stayed here a few times now and quite happy to return in the future. Great location being 10 minute walk from Euston. Breakfasts are delicious and dining room never seems too busy. Happily pay a little bit more for city sleeper rooms which are quieter and modern.
B. S.
Hotel conveniently located, very close to British Museum, West End and shopping district. Both, the room and the bathroom were quite spacious and very clean. The bedding left a lot to be desired, with only one blanket I was cold through the night. The pillow was hard like a rock.
The radiator in the room was very efficient, but located behind a thick curtain which would have to be left open if the heat were to go out to the room. On the positive side, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
The lift took only a few seconds to reach 7th floor, and I could not have wished for a better breakfast.
All in all, a modest accommodation with excellent service in a good location at a reasonable price.
T. M.
The location of this hotel is very good. Walk out from the Russell Square Underground station and turn left then right, you will see your hotel. It is less than 5 minutes walk. The hotel is very clean, but if you prefer a more quiet place, …

Stayed at this hotel the first time I visited London and found it to be a satisfactory hotel. Larger than previous hotels I'd stayed in but this was also during a time that London was the largest city I'd visited on my own as a teen as part of a school March Break trip. Friendly staff, simple, clean rooms. Great location in Bloomsbury and convenient to Russell Square Tube Station. Close to the British Museum, Covent Garden, Postal Museum and University of London. Within walking distance of most major attractions. At times it felt as if walked the entire area of metropolitan London, but I vividly remember it all. Close to restaurants. Restaurant and lounge on site which is how our student group generally ended the day, singing with Irish visiting weekenders. Definitely a good choice for the budget minded traveller and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Royal National again.
S. Q.
I was there last year and just remembered to put a review for it :))
Unlike others, I was pretty happy with the hotel room and services. Everything worked well for us considering the cheap price. I had read a lot of negative reviews for this hotel but when I stayed there, everything was acceptable. The staff were friendly, the room size and condition and facility were good enough. The breakfast was good too. It's location made it easy for us to access everywhere in London. All in all, what we got for the money was completely acceptable so I rate it 5 star.
M. F.
Brilliant service nice neat and clean environment friendly staff.
K. B.
Quite a good hotel, breakfast is a full English, plus, juice, coffee etc,we were told to go early so there was plenty of food.Rooms of a normal size, bed linen, towels etc, very clean.Bathroom needs a face lift, but need to take your own bath gel ,shampoo etc but water always hot.Would stay there again. We went with a group of school kids and we had to leave a deposit, which is a good idea but I don't think the teachers should be made to leave a deposit too.The hotel is in an excellent location. Staff very helpful.

Location is very good. Economical and functional, but needs an update. Mattresses needed to be firmer and bathrooms need an upgrade. Pubs on ground floor gives you an good quality option for having dinner and a beer aswell. I'd recommend it by it location.
C. G.
Always stay here when we go to London. Great location close to the Euston station, about a 10 min walk. Great hotel, always clean and tidy, friendly staff and an amazing full English breakfast! Possibly the best hash browns I've ever had; I always load my plate up with them!
M. R.
Excellent position, good price. The hotel is just a few meters from the subway station and a short walk from the center of Soho. The hotel offers free luggage storage service for customers waiting for check-in and baggage claim before leaving. I was with the family for a small 5-day vacation. The structure is impressive with more wings developing along the whole length of the complex. Our room, a triple room to which a cot has been added for my second child, is what can be expected for the price spent. Not having specified "double with extra bed and cot", we found a room with three single beds. Leaving aside this oversight, the room was big enough for we four and has been recently renovated. Available in the room a kettle, hairdryer and towels changed daily. Continental breakfast is extremely abundant. Extremely friendly and helpful staf
C. G.
Perfect location (near Euston station), nice neighbourhood (park, bookshop...). The bed was really comfortable. Our room (4th floor) had clearly been recently refurbished. Very clean. Luggage storage room very useful. Nice staff.
Only issue: The tea at breakfast was really bad, and breakfast in general was not great (not much choice).
v. w.
We arrived and didn't know what to expect, but it was really nice. The room was a basic twin room but I was impressed with the standard of cleanliness. The exterior is a bit grubby and tired, but inside it is lovely. The prices in the bars and eateries are great value, and a lot cheaper than I expected. The staff were all helpful and friendly. If I have one complaint, it is that the chambermaid knocked at 8.30. on the morning of departure and actually asked us what time we were leaving, we were up and dressed as it happens, but if we had wanted a bit of a lie in after the night before we would have been rudely awoken. Check out isn't until 11am so I thought that was a bit out of order. Apart from no shampoo in the rooms I had no other gripes. We had an amazing weekend and would most certainly stay there again.

Some of the poor ratings are unfair.
Good:
bed was clean and comfortable. No problem with having a good night sleep
Room was clean, decor was old. But the decor doesn’t affect me after a long day.
Shower was hot and power full
Toilet was clean
Low cost
Central location. Most attractions are within walking distance.
Bad:
Hotel WiFi is non existent. Or too slow, I think it’s due to the number of guests
Too many people. Popular for tours. If you have problem with this don’t stay there.
Breakfast was ok. Continental only. English breakfast £5.25 extra. I think it’s good value.
Noisy at night, again due to the nature of guest.
I hope the above provide a fair assessment. It’s up to you to decide. If you can’t live with the bad points don’t stay there.
But for me, it did the job for us for two night sightseeing trip in London. No problem with going back again.
G. R.
Stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms. Rooms are small but typical for London. Beds are hard.
Reception staff are helpful if somewhat curt and the ground floor area is mildly chaotic as the hotel seems to be a stop off for young peoples' tour groups.
To reecho other's comments: Even the new rooms have no ventilation: No cooling, no heating and the windows open up about 10cm. The hotel cheerfully reminds you that they don't advertise the rooms as having AC but that doesn't stop it from really being needed and is a strange omission.
The included breakfast was adequate. Complimentary Wi-Fi was fast and worked well.
B. W.
The first time I stayed here was in the newer half of the hotel. It was a nice room with free WiFi and a continental breakfast. However, the second time I stayed was in the older half. The heat was either all on or all off, there was no information about contacting the front desk or anyone. There was no information about anything. The breakfast is nothing amazing, but the staff are friendly. They do have GF bread and cereal if you ask for it.
H. M.
This hotel is vast and caters mostly for the tourist trade. However despite it's very 1960s appearance on the outside it has been modernised in places on the inside althugh there are still hints of its 'glory days'. It also has some very nicely decorated rooms called City Sleepers.I was upgraded to one of these for my stay.
However despite the slightly Faulty Towers experience in the dining room: a 45 min wait followed by 2 lots identical dinners arriving for me and my guest, an uncooked fish, a further wait followed by several unprompted deductions off the bill resulting in a 2 hours in the restaurant. The whole stay was great.
Would recommend even if it's to just enjoy the funny waiting service.
J. C.
After reading reviews of this hotel I was sceptical but the hotel did not disappoint!! Our room was ready which enabled an early check in. The room was clean and comfortable...the heating, tv and shower were fine. Beds were ok and tea and coffee facilities were available as were soap and towels. The breakfast was fine with tea coffee orange water toast cereal and fruit in juices...the cooked breakfast is reasonable at the additional cost. Overall a fabulous stay and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending!
A. K.
Very noisy. Shower fittings were broken and not attached to the wall properly. No shampoo etc provided. Had to request to move rooms on first night. staff very nice and accommodating, good central location
J. V.
Perfect for a first time or returning traveller or visitor. The rooms are sound proofed against the noise of traffic. The bathrooms were a little unclean, but good communication with the staff led to that issue being resolved within the hour. It is a short walk from the tube, and an even shorter wait to embark on your journey across London. Affordable prices means it is highly recommended, especially if you are travelling with a group like Contiki. I will be returning for future trips in London!
A. s.
The rooms are nice and basic. It could have air conditioning and somewhere on every floor possibly by the lifts an ice machine. The restaurant is a down fall for the hotel because it is very unorganized and the food is not cooked properly. Staff are nice and a good hotel for our budget.
A.
Decent hotel room was fine. Attitude of concierge staff can be a little aggressive and stroppy. The main thing I feel is totally unacceptable is having to pay 50p per bag to leave bags in lobby while waiting to check in. Considering we took 20 people there and stayed there 3 days. Collectively we spent a large amount of money on our rooms, it just felt pretty bad to demand money to hold our bags for a few hours. Look after your paying customers guys!!!!!
B. K.
The hotel is clean and quiet. The staff do their jobs efficiently, but most are not friendly. The rooms are basic. Beds are extremely firm. Pillows are very small and hard, I would actually recommend bringing your own pillow as they are so uncomfortable it makes sleeping difficult.
D. D.
Super busy and full of school and coach tours, giving it a slightly industrial feel. But like all of the hotels in the Imperial group hard to argue with the value and location.
Advice for dinner would be to stick to the pub grub options and you will not be disappointed, if you want fine dining there are lots of options nearby.
S. R.
Funny old place. It's HUGE, and was probably very luxurious in its heyday. Nowadays the corridors are very tired and shabby, you need to look carefully at the floor maps after coming out of the lift otherwise you could take five extra minutes to walk to your room. Room was clean, very very basic with an old CRT television and blankets instead of a duvet. Staff were polite and breakfast was lovely. Oh, and the shower was AMAZING. So, a mixed bag but overall pleasant enough, especially at the knock down price for central London.
D. S.
Location is great. The rooms are ok, be sure to ask for a renovated room, and there is a city sleeper option with surcharge. Rooms facing the main street are noisier.
I couldn't have another english breakfast for the love of foods. I have no idea how one could eat this day after day... Ohhh a tip, go early for breakfast as it gets overcrowded.
All in all the hotel had better days, but the location is still top!
T. A.
For a £88 per night room with breakfast included, smack in front of London Euston and kings cross it is very very good value for money. The room was very acceptable, the breakfast was good and the staff was polite. It would be nice to have more toiletries buy I think whatever there was made it very good value for money. Will definitely stay again!
A. M.
Choose the city sleepers rooms. They're renovated. Excellent location of the hotel. The Russel underground station just around the corner and the Euston station three blocks away. Excellent for visitors. You can store your luggage paying 0,50p per item
S. F.
Hotel was clean, but very basic. Location was great, just a short walk from Russell Square, a 5 minute walk to London Euston or a 10 minute walk to King's Cross. Breakfast was very good, lots of selection and very tasty but can get very busy. Every night, we had a drink in the hotel bar which was lovely, servicing a decent selection. Would stay here again, but be wary, this hotel is very popular with groups and there are lots of them, especially during the holidays.
J. D. C.
Took a group of students to London. If you are looking for cheap and basic and a great central location this is perfect. If is full of large groups of students. The continental breakfast is very basic. The hotel is clean but the decoration and furnishings are tired. Staff are attentive and helpful. Rooms are a very good size.
M. p.
Comfortable room but nowhere to put clothes in bathroom and too small a towel rail. Plenty of hot water and efficient radiator. Pavilion disappointing, non existent service, cold food, tough meat. Staff were plenty but standing round. Breakfast in Meeting Place excellent, both service and food. Staff friendly and clean and tidy.
E. F.
We stay in this hotel every time we come to london. It is situated in the middle of everywhere we want to be. We were in room 6109 this time . Its a really lovely room that has recently been upgraded. There is additional security to get to this part of the hotel. Great housekeeping. Breakfast in the Meeting Room is a holiday experience with a touch of personal attention.. All staff welcoming a professional. Highly recommend.
T. R.
despite a lot of the other reviews I think this hotel is completely fine we had no problems there was nice staff who are multi-ligule. there was outside seating area and 4 different places to eat or drink. there are a lot of rooms and it is central but close enough to hear any noise. However the rooms could do with a little bit of cratering but baring in mind their are so many rooms it isn't bad at all.
M. B.
The location is great, but the room is small and very basic (No shampoo, no safe, no mini refrigerator) And they just charged me 0.5 pounds for keeping my things after check out which is the first time I ever had to pay for that. Its a good option for traveling alone but I don't think I will come back here as a couple. alone, but
I. W.
Hotel was busy but the room on the top floor of the South Tower was clean and lifts reliable and quick. Continental Breakfast was ok (cereals, toast and flavoured juice drink), but coffee could have been better. £5 extra for full cooked breakfast. Plenty of helpful staff including men at the main doors making one feel a sense of security
R. R.
Breakfast buffet is great. Didn't like how they put people so close to you at tables. Take shampoo, they only provide a bar of soap in the room. Rooms are basic but ok for a couple of nights. Provide tea and coffee in room. No hair dryer in room. No iron in room. Can get them from reception I believe.
J. H.
The food served at the festive boards here is good and excellent value. Service is good and the staff assist where they can. As the organiser of tonight's meal, I had asked for peas as an additional vegetable, nothing too complicated you think, but they were presented in their own China dish to go with the chicken and potatoes. Dessert trolley brilliant as usual.
M. H.
Can't beat the location, and the price is pretty good, but the whole place is very dated. The room was very hot, with the window only swivelling slightly for ventilation. Noise traveller very easily through the hotel, especially if you have a room facing the centre area where the driveway and bar is. The bed was quite uncomfortable and very springy, but the room was pretty clean.
E. G.
Clean and spacious rooms with good bathrooms. The buffet breakfast is very nice. The room key cards stopped working at 10am, even though checkout is 11am, but the desk staff were very helpful about it.

Good enough for a short stay. Boring breakfast. Mostly white bread and jam. Eggs, sossage etc plus cheese and ham. Nothing more. Okay coffee.
Okay beds. Small rooms. Good location for seeing London.
Bathroom is very small.
M. T.
Hotel is divided into to sections. City Sleeper is the premium and the one you better select. Breakfast is not more than OK (for city sleeper). Rooms are nicely designed and comfortable. Location is around center
F. J. S.
In my opinion, bedroom is oldest. The bathroom is clean.
The better is the site. Near than center of London. 20 minutes walking.
Breakfast is good. Attention for chose the menu, European or American.

Clean, fresh and neat hotel. Perfect location and pricing was good too. The only thing I didnt like was the fire alarm going off at 1am. However I guess that was just a one off. Apart from that it was perfect. Booking my return to this hotel.

It's an okay place. I got a room on the 7th floor with a view of other hotel windows. My room had 2 single beds which I wondered why they weren't joined to form a queen-size bed. I had a wall mounted flat-screen TV set but no refrigerator.
The English breakfast was so so.
For it's location in the heart of Central London, the room rates are quite competitive.
Summary: neither disappointing nor outstanding.
H. B.
Not much to look at from the outside but for £88 single room, it was decent. Stayed on 7th floor and the room was small but clean and recently refurbished. Included breakfast was reasonable.
Cannot comment on other floor rooms but it appeared the rooms on 7th floor were all recently refurbished.
Docked one star for no provision of toiletries apart from bar of soap.
Docked another for minimal security. The ease at which anyone could just walk through the hotel was slightly alarming.

This hotel is in a great location in central London for an agreeable price. Continental breakfast is ready-made toast under heat lamps, buns, cereals, and some fruit (prunes, grapefruit, and tangerines). For an additional £5 you can have ham, eggs three different ways, hash brown wedges, and sausages. The rooms are simple but adequate. Beds are hard but you can still get a decent night sleep on them. Note that there is no air-conditioning in the rooms but I found that with the window opened the room was comfortable enough to sleep. This hotel is huge as it is a favorite amongst several tour companies but I personally think this is a good thing as the tour operators will ensure the hotel maintains good standards.

Nice palce. Food is great.
Try at least once.
T. K.
Nice hotel, but it has it's down sides. You can hear everything(ambulances and especially your neighbors), it smells odd, like old furniture and it's a mass hotel with a lot of rooms.
The positive side is that they have nice people working there and the breakfast is really good.
r. j.
Where do I even start? Probably with a disclaimer: it's a cheap hotel IN the center of London. That deserves a load of praise, allowing people who don't have that much money, to go on a decent vacation! But that merit is immediately counterbalanced by the idea that you literally get what you pay for - not much.
The hotel room is nice. It's small, offers no shampoo but does have a bit of hand soap, has a small water boiler, and we got two seperate beds instead of a single large bed... Fortunately, the beds are quite alright. And there is a bath tub-shower combo. We didn't notice any hygiene issues while we inspected the room.
To top it off, across the street, there is an ambulance station. And off course, the room's window is a single layer of glass. To summarize it: it's bare bones, and there's a load of noise from traffic and constant ambulance sirens blaring.
The breakfast is hilariously bad. The continental breakfast is not different from what I eat at home, but if I were to offer my hotel guests an actual standard breakfast, it would be more than 2 toasts, butter, jam, and cereals with milk. The upgrade to an "English Breakfast" costs five pounds per day, and the upgrade doesn't seem that special to me either with boiled eggs, beans in tomate sauce, etc... (As a foreigner, off course).
With all that said, this is the kind of hotel you should only stay at to sleep, and the rest of the day, you should explore the city. Don't expect to do anything at the hotel itself. 4/5 if you're simply doing a city trip. 1/5 if you were expecting decent facilities at the hotel.

Attended the hotel for a conference, the hotel is located 5 minutes away from Russell Square Station. The conference room was large, had good sound and the chairs were relatively comfortable. The doors could accommodate wheelchair users, however the toilet was upstairs. Unsure if any disabled toilets were available on the lower floors.

We stayed at the Royal National for 3 nights as we got 2 nights free when we booked our airfare with BA. While it is certainly not a top-notch hotel, I was pleasantly surprised based on my last experience in a London hotel. Our rooms (2 nights in a double and 1 night in a triple) were spacious by London standards, as was our bathroom - the toilet was in a separate room from the shower & sink. The location is excellent - just a block from the Russell Square tube station and the staff was friendly. The hotel is a bit noisy and crowded - it seems as though this hotel is used by a lot of large tour groups rather than individuals, but we didn't have to wait long to check-in. Friends had told us to recommend a room on a higher floor facing the courtyard so we had a very quiet room our first 2 nights. The hotel does not have any triples facing the courtyard so we were street-side our 3rd night, but the noise was not unbearable.
If you are looking for luxury accommodation, don't stay here, but if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive (by London standards), clean room with a good location, the Royal National fits the bill.
S. Q.
It's a nice hotel in central London, especially if you are okay with hustle and bustle especially during summers. Their breakfast is also quite good with couple of vegetarian and halal options as well.
J. F.
The location is good and possibly an okay price for London. Checking was pretty quick and they will store your luggage. Some staff is unprofessional. The breakfast is not good... ie. A bucket of cold toast and jam plus some stewed fruit or cereal. Definitely gives the feeling of being an army recruit. The fire alarm went off a couple of times our first night and they will provide 2 singles instead of a double for couples. I would book here again if it were the only option.. but it is likely not.
M.
We stayed here in November last year. We were the Royal Naval contingent for remembrance. The bar was a bit pricey, but it is London. It's in good walking distance of the big places, which was quite good for when we got a little down time to explore. Breakfast wasn't great, the food felt a little cheap and artificial.
I would probably recommend this for a short stay in London, but probably not so much for an actual holiday.
J. M.
This hotel was nothing fancy, but staff was courteous, the room was clean and the bathroom quite adequate. Although the room was a bit on the small size, we had no intention on hanging out there. It was centrally located and close to Russell Square tube station so we could get out and see everything in central London on our "must see" list. Good value for the money. Breakfast did get a bit tedious after awhile, but it was included in the room rate and there was always plenty of food. I'd go back.
A. J.
This hotel is located in the midst of London. For it's price it is totally fine. The rooms are clean and able to accomodate up to three people. In my room, I just noticed water damage on the sealing of the bath and the toilet seat was broken. Check-In had a long line, Check-Out took 20 seconds. The included (Continental) Breakfast includes toast, cornflakes, fruit and orange/apple juice + coffee. There is an option for English Breakfast (+5.25£). There is a bus shuttle service to Stansted. The hotel is also near Russels Square Underground station, from where you can reach every point quickly.
A. M.
We had a lovely two nights.
The staff are super friendly, very helpful and kind. They cannot do enough to help.
The breakfast was great with lots of variety as was our very filling evening meal.
Thank you
J. B.
Good quality for the location & price relative to what's available if your on a budget, the 3 bed room we're staying at is clean but not fancy. No fridge and much wasted space in the bathroom. The free breakfast is more there to supplement the £5 English breakfast and you will need more if you don't go for the add-on. So far the stay hasn't been at all negative though taking into consideration we've only been using the national to rest and recoup in between exploring London.
J.
Bathrooms are dated and could use a really good scrubbing. Beds weren't very comfortable. However it did the trick for us, we got a fair nights sleep. Its close to the bus stop and within walking distance from lots of pubs, the British Museum, and shops. But if you have an option to stay elsewhere, I would take it.
C. H.
Stay here once sometimes twice every year on our 3 day visit to London.
Comfortable rooms, including tea and coffee.
Friendly staff, excellent choice of continental and English breakfast and lovely 3 course complimentary evening meal on 1st night, with a choice to suit everyone. Hotel is centrally located for everywhere you need to visit in the capital.
The only thing missing is a hairdryer in the bathroom/bedroom, which would be a bonus for any traveller.
A. C.
Basic hotel with pleasant and helpful staff
B. D.
So to start off we had to wait with the checking because we were early. They did have a place to store luggage. due to the champions league finals it was very crowded. The breakfast wasn't good. It was basically jam and coffee. The rooms and overall look of the hotels were nice though. Big downside was that the doors were 190cm high or maybe a bit more. But I am 198cm tall. I think you see my problem. On the plus side the location is great. Close to the metro and some restaurants around.
J. W.
Situated close to Euston and kings cross station, on a main bus/tube route. Easy quick access to all the main sites . Very good value for money. Book online cost us £116 for a double room with cooked breakfast. Breakfast area is very clean with lovely seating area. A great selection to choose from including full English breakfast. Rooms recently refurbished. Disabled rooms available but phone to request one in advance. For approx £20 more you can book a city sleeper room which is higher spec with additional amenities (iron etc). They offer a 24hour food delivery service from local establishments. Tesco's express and tube station on opposite cross roads. It can be noisy with sirens at the front of this large hotel as on a main road leading to a hospital . Several small parks nearby. I have been many times and would recommend it for a weekend break . You can also leave your cases on the last day so you can explore London and collect the later. This costs at the time 50pence per bag/case.
G. F.
The size of the rooms were okay. A bit dirty bathrooms, and the room was pretty cold in the morning (did catch a cold during my stay). Low standard breakfast: dry bread with jam. You had to pay £5 each day for English Breakfast. + for good WIFI and Underground stations nearby.
D. B.
A large hotel situated on Russel Square in central London. The staff are very loyal and proud of what they do. The rooms are clean and tidy with room we had just been refurbished. It is only a stone's throw from the Brunswick centre if you want something to eat. There is also a good restaurant on site.
F. R.
It's been quite some time since the last time we went to the Royal National, but I still remember many things about it. First off, it's huge! It used to be a hospital as far as I know. The rooms are nice and well equipped. The staff very helpful (most are foreign), but there was something bad about it: the waiters and staff at the restaurant below, especially at breakfast time. They were desperate for you to finish your meal and move on, very unhelpful and sometimes even a bit rude. I'm sure something's been done about this already
K. M.
The room was very nice and had excellent facilities. Not to mention that it was a very reasonable price for being in Central London.
However it was quite confusing to find where my room was, and the car park which was fairly expensive for one night but as I don't live in London could actually be fairly reasonable.
All in all, well worth staying at if you need a cheapish hotel in London. Would gladly stay again.
J. d. B.
The location, room cleaning and shower were fine. For the rest, this hotel offers just the bare minimum: room maintenance, breakfast, service. No atmosphere, silence, sustainability efforts or climate control.
K. S.
Stayed here over the weekend with a few friends of mine! And what can i say it was absolutely fantastic place to stay!
There was adaquet bars which is nice if you like a tipple
There are loads of resturants!
Breakfast was included in your stay (continental) but could pay an extra £5 to get full english and it was all you can eat.
The staff and there service was fantastic and always smiling.
Just all round a great place to stay, One down side though is the rooms can get cold due to single glazed windows and if your room backs onto a main road there can be alot of noise so if your a light sleeper might not be best
D.
Great location to stay in while visiting London. Great choice of breakfast to choose from. Only had point our rooms wernt ready in time so they gave us a free drink each at the bar
S. F.
Always stay here when in London if possible. Cater mainly for large tourist groups but do individual bookings too. New upgraded rooms are smart and comfortable. Underground car park is cheap and tube station just over the road. Plenty of food options around in hotel or 2min walk away depending what you like
N. A.
Stayed here many a time. Lovely hotel with great rooms and friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. Also has a nice bar.
A. W.
We actually stayed here 2 separate stays in a week's time. The first, in the "City Sleeper" section. It was wonderful, and even had USB plug ins. Breakfast was included. The 2nd stay we were placed in an old part of the building. Very basic room, same price. No information on the hotel, or info on calling front desk. Our heat was all on or all off they explained. No USB plugs. If this was the first room we had stayed in, I wouldn't be impressed. But the first was very nice.
I. R.
This hotel is my go to for a cheap yet great room, with included bathroom and other facilities. It's located in the central of London very close to a tube station as well as walking distance to the British Museum. On out last day staying here it is possible for us to securely store out luggage (for a small fee) until it is time to catch the coach/train home. Making this hotel the perfect sweet spot for price to performance.
D. O.
Good, clean, central hotel. Close to russell square tube station and the hop on hop off tour bus stops right outside. There is also Tesco supermarket across the road and is within walking distance of some good food places. Staff were friendly and efficient. We had a slight problem with room cards at the beginning but it was sorted in minutes. Also at the time of our visit there was a brilliant deal, due to us staying more than two nights we received a complimentary 3 course meal on our first night. Breakfast is good, sets you up for the day. All in all a good hotel, I would definitely stay there again.
S.
As you read through the reviews here, you think it's going to be a terrible hotel. But in general, the rooms are acceptable. The only problem WE have: the toilet doesn't flush.
It is a cheap, group hotel. Don't imagine a 5-star hotel when you enter the building! As I said, our room is acceptable, but one of my friends has a very dirty room.. I hope they fix it during our trip.
The location is almost perfect. The hotel is placed in the centre of London, so everything is near. You can take the tube through whole the city. That's a bonus.
The other reviews also say that breakfast is not edible. They claim there is only toast and jam. This is not the case. There's aslo cereal and english breakfast, for which we hadn't to pay an additional £5.
The personal is not very friendly. We have spent near an hour to check in and get our key cards. They also claimed we stole a bag from someone who didn't find his one.
I would suggest to choose an other hotel, because this one is in poor conditions.
Greetings from Belgium

Solid hotel for a short stay, I was there the night before for a contiki trip and it was super convenient to just have to walk out the door. It's seems relatively close to a fair few shops and is very near a popular train station so it had a decent location. Would recommend for a nice short stay as it gives you a place to sleep in a fairly central location.
N. C.
Rooms are quite good. Everything was clean. Breakfast includes just cereals and milk, if you want more (eggs, sausages, etc) you have to pay 6£ more...!! Anyway, it is well connected and you can go walking anywhere!
G. M.
Good location close to Russell Sq tube. Basic but adequate rooms
Beds were comfortable and rooms clean and well serviced. We paid for a package that included full English breakfast and a couple of times ate at the London Pub that is situated in the South Side courtyard, decent food for the price. Staff in my experience were helpful and freindly. When we visit London again we would stay here again without hesitation.
b.
The combination of location and price are superb; walking distance from the northern stations and from the west end.
Avoid if possible a room anywhere near the bowling alley on Bedford Way, where people hang out very noisily around the street entrance well into the early hours.
R. K.
The room and hotel was in very good condition for a London hotel in this price range and the room was good. The beds were very hard which was ok for me but will destroy the sleep for several. Breakfast was mediocre and WiFi was not working satisfactory in the room unless standing in the bathroom.
E. H.
Missing air condition in the rooms, pretty hot in the rooms. The included breakfast is very limited and requires an ekstra payment of 5 £ for some hot foods. The rooms are quite nice, but they are missing a small refridgerator. The best part of the room are the bathrooms.
S. N.
Decent stay. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The products weren't very fresh, clearly over held under the heated lamps. Not very good in terms of baby friendly facilities either. Overall a decent stay but wouldn't highly recommend it.
C. R.
Hotel getting a make over. Hope it's not going to be to noisy!! Had to change rooms as one wasn't ready but just next door so not to bad. Nice hotel comfy rooms but a bit hot with no air con. Room with three singles a bit on the small side. Double and single much bigger.
J. B.
Staff very friendly and helpful also very accommodating for my son with his special needs and great knowledge of things around the area
L. J.
There is no air con in rooms. Restaurant not good for evening meal have had so much better. There were a lot of teenagers. Pub needs a refurbished. But ideal for visiting everywhere of interest. Definitely go back as we have many times.
G. H.
From Cardiff. Rare treat coming to London with a few mates for an overnight weekend stay. Fantastic hotel. First time staying here. Very clean, lovely staff, lovely clean room/shower/tv/and conditions etc. Quite local to many London landmarks. Definitely recommend it. :-) x
E. T.
Second time here. Good for the price. In a good location - 10 minutes from Euston station. Breakfast was included and was very good, if busy. We thought there was a swimming pool but in fact its just access to Bannatyne gym down the street so we opted not to bother. The room was clean but, given that the UK have been experiencing a heatwave for the past 7 weeks it was unbearably hot. There were no fans available and the windows had a safety catch so they barely opened an inch. It would be good if the hotel could invest in fans for the rooms as the heat made it incredibly hard to sleep.
J. O.
Attended an event here for a charity gala ball and it was superb. Environment was clean, toilets clean, access easy from Russell Square station. Lovely interior as well. Staff were polite, food was good.
N. W.
It's an economy experience at an economy price. Windows are locked almost completely shut (would be ideal if the lock cords could be at least a few inches longer). Location is decent. A touch far to walk to the main attractions, but doable if you're in shape and good access to Russell Square underground station. In general it's just a "meh" hotel.
V. K.
The hotel is really nice and clean, the newly refurbished sleeper suites (where I stayed) are great and I would definitely recommend them. The hotel is a 10-15 minutes walk away from Euston train station, very handy for quick stays in London for conferences. My only issue was with the breakfast, due to the amount of visitors the breakfast was too 'premade' for my tastes (for the full English eggs were preboiled, bacon was like that) and although I might have never been in such a busy hotel in London, I believe there must be better ways for getting a 'fresher' breakfast. Apart from that the choices were good and plentiful and overall I would definitely recommend the hotel
D. H.
We got switched over from a sister hotel.
The twin room was large enough, though the window did not shut all the way so smoke, noise, and draught came through.
Morning breakfast was good.
Would stay again.
J. D.
Well located for central London and universities. It's a budget hotel so it's basic and the coffee isn't good. However there's a small coffee shop in the foyer. There's also a left luggage office which is handy. My booking was very complicated and they were very helpful and sorted it out without fuss.
S. Y.
Stayed four nights at royal national hotel recently, the room had all out need covered with TV, hair dryer, bath and shower beds were clean and of sufficient comfort. Breakfast was decent and would have been worth the money they were charging even though it was included in our deal, can't comment on the continental as I didnt take any of the items on offer.
A. L.
Good location and decent rooms for the price. There was a lot of sound (Sirens and loud motorbikes) coming from the street outside of our room which made it hard to sleep. Would recommend this hotel for anyone not sensitive to loud noises looking for a cheap hotel in London!
Z. R.
The rooms are sufficient for short-term stay. I would advise against falling into the beds in exhaustion, as the springs are very resist and will definitely give you pain. The seat in the room is also decievingly hard. Breakfast buffets are nice and the server of the hot foods is very friendly (and often gives you more than you asked as well as things you just didn't ask for...)
A. K.
The hotel isn't what it say on the book. Its says its a 5 stat hotel only stands up to 3 . not happy as they seats in the foyer. So as a person who needs to seat . the near seats where in bar which are very high seats ! The room hadn't got air con and single glaszed windows which meat heard the noise of traffic most nights! They are some areas of the hotel with damp and cracks on walls! The breakfast was not good! I had toast but not able to cut into it. The fruit juice was sour. The English breakfast was to pay for at £5! Not inpressed! The areas of the hotel was very good filled with good restaurants and cafes very good indeed! Russel square where the hotel was based was a lovley area filled with big park and close to British museum excellent to visit!
A. G.
Comfortable rooms but I prefer the Tavistock (part of same chain) as the reception is not so busy. Also you can open windows fully and you get shower gel and shampoo. Both hotels offer a 3 course meal for two nights stay and you can use a choice of restaurant belonging to the Imperial chain. Royal National has carvery which I find a bit impersonal so k normally opt for the Indian buffet in the Tavistock which is okay but not brilliant. Neither hotel has air conditioning so can be a problem in a hot summer.
A. R.
Positive: First of all, the hotel is HUUGE, the service is great, the rooms are clean and they are big with huge bathrooms and nice and comfy, the bed is comfy, they clean the room every day, there is a good pizza restaurant right outside, a great bar downstairs with restaurant, the hotel is very good located with the tube(russel square) like 200m from the hotel, bus station right outside, a mall 200m down the street and a tourist attraction buy site right outside, bowling right around the corner, location is top and the hotel is cheap compeared to others with good location, im satisfied with my stay and will come back for the 4th time at this hotel.
Bad thing is that outside the room like hallways and such, the paint is falling of, lights go on and of and some dont work and it smells abit funny. They should fix it couse it looked abit poor compared to the quality of the hotel witch is very good in general.. but im not happy or satisfied with the so calld "breakfast" extreamly dry toast bread with only butter or jam to choose from why??? The cofee taste like burned powder and the plates and cups is not even clean.. Its discusting.. you can buy english breakfast for 5£ extra pr day(eggs, bacon and beans) i mean realy..? Come on!! The breakfast is a disaster thats draging down the stars for me.. i used the bar for breakfast and payed less for a good meal..
From 1 to 5 i choose a strong 3..
M. E.
Great car park for large vans
L. B.
A no frills, 2 star hotel with friendly staff.
The hotel is very big with many wings setup in a square configuration.
The rooms themselves are dated and a little shabby but they have a tv, tea and coffee making facilities and their own bathroom with toilet and shower.
No matter how run down it may appear to you, it still beats any hostel and for that I like this hotel.
Plus, the sheets are changed and the rooms cleaned, so you wont be getting bed bugs like hostels often have.
The hotel is affordable and a great launchpad if your going on a Contiki.
It aint luxury, but if your a tired traveler, this place is heaven.
Only major gripe is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms.
My room was warm and stuffy which made sleeping a hot mess, atleast there's a shower to help cool off.
R. S.
FRIENDLY STAFF AND STARTED COOKED BREAKFAST THIS MORNING VERY NICE TO HAVE AGAIN. NICE PLACE TO STAY
ENJOY MY TIME HERE AND VERY CLEAN
0.
Wasn't a massive fan of the bathrooms and the seating in the eating area is very limited which meant we struggled to get seated but the beds were very comfortable and the rooms decoration was very good as well.
C. K.
Centrally located and everything is almost in walking distance. Nice pubs and restaurants around. The breakfast deal in the hotel saves you a lot. The bus and the underground and also the train station is in a short distance.
S. F.
Huge hotel, centrally located and handy for Kings Cross train station. A wee bit in need of a makeover. Breakfast was bedlam but ok. Our main gripe was that there was no air conditioning in the room. I know it's not always so hot in Britain but think that a modern hotel should at least give it's guests the option of a/c
A. R.
Modest hotel, nothing flashy and impressive. Only two outlets in the room made it hard to charge things. There are a lot of travelers and it sometimes seemed a bit chaotic and unorganized. There is an attached but which is pleasant but overpriced. It's close by to the tube stations and to a 24 market, which makes it convenient.
I.
Pretty good hotel. Very clean. The view of the breakfast cafeteria is pretty nice, but the ones of the room not so much. One street away from a metro on the Piccadilly line and also right next to a park.
A. L.
The room was clean, staff lovely and the hotel had good facilities. The only let down was breakfast which was limited and difficult for vegetarians to have anything substantial but cereal
J. W.
Great hotel with friendly staff. I do not know what people expect from a hotel in central London but if you want luxury you have to pay luxury prices. This hotel was fantastic for the price (far from luxury) but it's central, clean, friendly and adequate for short stays. I would use the Royal National again. Recommended.😁
P. G.
Lots of space, good food.
A. K.
Rooms are great, breakfast was good, however there was no WiFi in rooms only in reception. It was very noisy from the traffic. There was no shampoo in the bathroom and the toilet seat kept falling down. Although it was satisfactory for 3 nights.
A. B.
Stopped here after my late night train was cancelled from Euston.
At £80 odd a night for a single room. it was fairly reasonable at such late notice.
Absolutely nothing special. Windows do not stop any of the London noise, so be prepared for hearing traffic throughout the night (luckily I had headphones).
Very very standard inside. I've been spoilt by nice hotels with work, so I was taken slightly aback by the rooms basic features.
I've stayed in quite a few hostels over the years, and I'd say the hotel was only a slight step up!
But still, couldn't complain, the staff were friendly and the room was clean. Pity the UK rail networks aren't as dependable!
M. G.
Very nice hotel staff Very friendly and helpful Very enjoyable stay
C. N. D.
If you are accustomed to American hotels, here are the differences. Small rooms and beds, tv that sort of works, no refrigerator, no air conditioning. It was very clean and staff was nice. Also, in bathroom sink, separate faucets for hot and cold water, so no warm water, bummer.
A. v. B.
It is ok. The hotel is a bit impersonal and bland, attracts many groups. The location is nice, close to a metro station, though there are also many groups of tourists in the vicinity of the hotel, the location as a whole is not super touristy. Negatives: my colleague (who was in another room) was woken up by people drilling at 8:45 in the morning in the room below him; no refrigerator in the room; and the room service also knocked on my door very early (before I would need to leave to catch breakfast) one day.
g. p.
Brilliant location. Continental and cooked breakfast included. Rooms clean and comfortable. However, room was overlooking central courtyard and was very noisy so we got very little sleep.
L. W.
Rooms were clean, breakfast is full english or contiental and of adequate quality. The hotel itself has a very 70s feel to it but it is comfortable enough for a good night's sleep
J. P.
Good hotel. Polite staff. Good rooms especially in City Sleeper. Only problem booking online. Been here at least 6/8 times in the past year. No problems booking standard rooms only City Sleeper which myself and partner like.
p. l.
Very big hotel which means a lack of individual attention but the staff try hard to make your stay pleasant. Very clean room but they can be noisy if the room overlooks the reception area. The London weekend deal is great value for money.
A. S.
Nice location. If you arrive from Sant Pancras rail station and you like to go walking to the city center it's a good option. Huge hotel very crowded, some times rooms aren't perfect but they are quite big and confortable. Breakfast isn't very nice but it is what it is. There are good places to take a morning cofe near there, no problem. It use to be my option if I want to be near British Museum.
P. R.
Quite dated but it was very clean, staff were nice and the breakfast was nice. The room was a little on the cold side though. Fine if you just want somewhere to sleep when staying in London and only 5 Min walk away from Russle Square underground station.
w. j.
Absolutely amazing establishment. When I got there, there was so much room in the reception because of the lack of people which made me feel privileged. Secondly, me and my friend went to our room and there was 3 single beds for the 2 of us which was quite bien. Not only that but I met lots of nice friends in the bed that helped me stay up in the night. At one point I wanted to to go to the toilet by my entire lower half felt numb because I no longer had legs which was quite the surprise but that's ok because it meant I didn't have to get out of bed - score! After I woke up though I dragged my torso into the bathroom to have a wash and after fiddling the knob it began to squirt out. After I increased the water I realised that half of the water had traveled onto the floor creating a swimming pool of water - again another score! Next was a free complimentary breakfast which I was excited for which turned out to be a handful of coco pops which made me appritiate the bowls i had at home. I was quite parched as well so i went to go and get some orange juice from a machine and it was watered down which is for the best because I'd already had to much sugar - I'm such a naughty boy!
In the end this was a marvelous vacation which I hope other people can experience so that they may understand the joy that I felt.

This hotel has had some bad reviews. We found it clean comfortable and convenient with russell square euston and St pancreas nearby. Staff on reception were helpful and breakast room can be crowded if you go late. Breakast choice was more than adequate. Last day we had English breakast which was excellent. Bit confusing finding rooms but you have to orient yourself. Pity no air conditioning or fridge in room. I think.fridges are available on request though. We were quite happy there
R. S.
Our stay at the Royal National for the most part went pleasantly well. It was our first visit to the city and I must admit I had concerns about our booking at this hotel after reading negative review after negative review. The hotel is NOT as described on many of these opinions. It is a 3 star hotel which, as advertised, is a budget, NO FRILLS accomodation. This is what was expected and this is what we received. Clean. Basic amenities provided. No complaints. Some have mentioned a lack of air conditioning which was a bit of an issue but easily remedied by a fan which was provided by the front desk.
The breakfast was satisfactory and yes, there IS a difference between the Continental and the standard (and no, there is no "secret" way of making your standard voucher into a Continental voucher). Breakfast ends at 10am and the servers are VERY aggressive in taking your plates at that time. Also, be sure to stay on the side which is open. They can be a bit "soup nazi"ish about keeping to one side with trays and obtaining cereal and milk.
Checking in and out was satisfactory though we did have a curious experience of waiting until 2:30pm when checking into our room because it was still being prepared by housekeeping (we arrived at 11am). Housekeeping, we noticed, usually completed their runs by noon each day after we arrived. Could have been an anomaly with our situation (such as a late check out).
The comment about it being in an excellent location is absolutely true. Three minutes from Russell Square station for transportation and a few minutes more to Brunswick Mall which is excellent for food, restaurants and other amenities. Also don't forget The British Museum is only a couple of blocks away. Very convenient when starting out your long itinerary of places to visit.
Overall would recommend the Royal National as a good budget place to stay in Central London.

The hotel was clean and comfortable , nothing fancy. It advertises Wifi in all rooms and lobby. We were on the 6th floor and were unable to access the Wifi from our room once during our entire 6 night stay. We had to go to the lobby and sit there to use it. The house keeping staff were friendly but the dining staff, concierge staff and the front desk staff could use some training in how to speak to and treat guests. Any time you asked them a question they seemed put out by your request.

The room is not very small, but not very big either. Also it was slightly worn. The worst experience from this hotel was that there was not enough space in the breakfast hall. Did not have enough time to wait either, so no breakfast for me that day!! The location of this hotel is good. Russel Square tube station is right behind the corner.

A massive hotel very close to Russel square tube. Location wise it's very handy the hotel is a complete maze and the room layout has no sence or order. Their are maps to help you...
The rooms are ok but starting to show age particularly the bathrooms which have the worse showers I've ever seen. The are so high and fixed the are just difficult to use...
That said if you at visiting London a reasonable crash pad

7 months ago I rented a car from Hertz and I have no place to park except this hotel. It's the cheapest in central London. I'm back in Central London a month ago and I booked into this hotel. Why I booked into this hotel? Well, it's waking distance to almost all the interesting places like Buckingham Palace, Shopping at Oxford Street and many more. It's a huge hotel with lots of rooms. Room is clean and neat. Chambermaids are helpful and courteous but they are not English. I feel very comfortable staying here for a week. Unfortunately it comes with a boring but free intercontinental breakfast of cereal, toasted bread, and the usual beverages of coffee, tea or juices. Add £5 per pax and you get to eat an English Breadfast which consists of 2 types of meat, hard boiled eggs, bake beans and vegetables. Service in the Cafe is poor. Picture taking is disallowed in the Cafe. The waiters and waitresses are impolite and lack service attitude. Nothing is good in this Cafe.

Nice enough hotel, lovely staff. Rooms are a bit dated but for a jumping off point into London it works out well. Free WiFi for those who need it with a wide range of restaurants and amenities nearby.

Bargain price. at £68 for a double room with breakfast, but very noisy at night on the date that we stayed. The hotel is beginning to look very `tired` and the restaurant was not very appealing but, there are plenty of eateries nearby. So …

It wasn't the worst hotel out there but it has some problems The rooms are very old and have only one electrical outlet, need more? Well you have to pay for it, the breakfast is free but quite plain, want something better well you gotta pay for it. See where this is going?

Beds were comfy, however pillows were a bit to firm for my liking. The TV in the room worked flawlessly. If I was to visit London again, I would probably stay here, however it all depends on area.
Edit due to response:
Thank you so much for responding to me. I have updated my /5 rating from 3/5 to 4/5.

Corridors rec a bit tired but rooms are fine. Nice deep bath and powerful shower and boiling hot water. Nice breakfast. Pub on site is ok for just chilling out with a beer. 2
Mins walk from Russell sq underground. Tour bus ticket office and pick up point right outside.

Having accidentally tried to check-in at the National's 'sister' hotel (my fault completely) my expectations had been raised by the Imperial just off Russel Square. This did nothing for the National, which is very much a case of getting what you pay for - in this instance an excellent location at a good price with useful staff battling cheerfully against coach loads of various exchange trips.
I had intended to deposit my bags before going out for a drink, but the effort of locating my room and the prospect of having to do it after a drink were enough to put me off and keep me in.
Very affordable and nostalgic for those who have been on school or college trips abroad. Great location. Good hygenic rooms.

It's just what three stars suggest: it's okay. We had the luck of receiving a room in the "inner circle" of the building opposite to the reception. So no street noise or noise from the London Pub for us. The continental Breakfast they promise consists of 4 types of cereal, two types of toast and two types of tiny bunns. You can cover the toast and bunns with a jam or salted butter. English breakfast is available for 5 pound extra. As said before it's okay, don't expect too much luxury.

Room was OK, breakfast was awful, tea was stewed the toast was cold and soggy as it was made in advance. If you wanted an English breakfast it was an extra £5. We didn't bother to go the 2nd morning.

The restored rooms are very good and clean. Location excellent just 10 min walk from Oxford street.
I do not recommend continental breakfast, take the english one for extra 5£

Clean enough, but a hostel is cleaner and more modern for a lot less money. Can't expect much more from the 3 star price point. Staff were friendly and helpful.
