Elegant, traditional London hotel with loads of character.
The hotel is in an excellent position just 5 minutes walk from Gloucester Road tube station and 7 minutes from the Natural History Museum.
Despite being right in the city centre, there’s very little noise from outside.
Mid week rate was excellent value for money, especially considering the location.
Friendly, polite and efficient reception staff.
Room 317 is a family room and is very spacious, and nicely furnished in a traditional style. The only slight let down is the bathroom.
I borrowed an iron and iron board which was brought to my room very promptly.
The room was overly-hot when I arrived but the radiator could be switched off and the window opened, so easily remedied.
One star has to be deducted for the cramped bathroom and slightly worn-out bath.
Highly recommended if you want something a bit different to the blandness of Premier Inn. You’ll definitely know you’re in London when you stay here. It has something about it that comes from the elegant architecture and decor.

Nice clean and tidy room, bed was nice and comfortable, powerful shower ,staff very helpful and friendly.
Had a reasonable range of breakfast options.
All in all 7/10

Last night here, but we have had a lovely stay for the previous 2 nights. Staff are very pleasant and are happy to help. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Breakfast lovely and evening meal at the restaurant was delicious. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Would be very happy to come back here.

My first experience of staying in a London hotel. The hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. It was lovely to finish the evening off having a drink in the lounge area which was comfortable but unfortunately there was not enough seating. Only other criticism is the lift was so slow it was quicker to walk up to the 5th floor using the stairs!

Lovely hotel in a great location for a trip to London. Room was clean and well presented. The breakfast was superb, freshly cooked to order and excellent choice of food - hot or cold. Staff were polite, helpful and attentive. Excellent service in every way. Thank you.
s. t.
Lovely hotel, staff really nice and friendly atmosphere. But said it was wheelchair friendly but not so much, but they done everything to help and changed our room so their was no steps from lift. They have gone out of their way to help. The breakfast food was lovely.

Staff was very accommodating
The rooms are extremely small but clean. All and all enjoyed my stay there.
T. E.
Fantastic hotel, amazing value for money. The food is fantastic and the service is exceptional, Joe is brilliant as are the ladies in the restaurant and on reception. A great stay, thank you.
By the way, the mattresses are very comfy.
P. A.
Well placed nice hotel .The only problem the shower had shaving hair in it and was left by maid for my three night stay all staff very nice and all round a great stay
H. G.
A great find off the beaten track but within walking distance of tubes, buses and attractions. Excellent size rooms, albeit our bathroom was 'cosy'. Breakfast freshly cooked and really good. Staff great.
T. A.
I really enjoyed my stay, the hotel is a little gem situated in Kensington. The staff and management are exceptionally friendly and professional!
A. J.
Great location for royal Albert Hall, very professional and friendly staff, nice breakfast, spotless room, very nice.
H. B.
A nice central hotel. Only let down was the beds which were rather hard. Service was great though!
J. J.
Stayed for 5 days from 18/8/21 with my disabled daughter & granddaughter cant phrase them enough for there help while we where there, the food, room and staff excellent would recommend it to any one. Would
like to thank them for there kindness

Hotel is elegantly decorated. Front desk staff are polite and friendly. Bed is excellent. Room is clean. Breakfast is good. However. Heed the warning, "Room sizes may vary." Our "superior double" was a fraction of the size of the rooms pictured on the website, with hardly room to walk around the bed, never mind open a suitcase or two. IF the rooms in the pictures do in fact belong to this category, there should be another category for the room we had. Goods not as advertised.
J. S.
Beautiful hotel and location. We stayed here to explore Kensington and the Natural History Museum ( 2 blocks away) Staff was come and go. We liked the lounge but always had to search for someone to get a tea or beer, “bites” are just crisps, and twice did chatty housekeepers come have conversations as they too lounged next to us. It was very rude and off putting. No room service until 11 am which is checkout time) so any drinks, breakfast etc you must leave the hotel.
Great size room and accommodating for a baby.
I. S.
The Heating is cranked up all the time, but aside from that it's a wonderful hotel.
F. v. A.
Room was clean and large, shower and bed were good. Breakfast ok and very close to subway station. As most London hotels settled in old building, so inside feels and looks old and out dated. Price was ok.
One negative, could not open the window and the room (as rest of hotel) was very warm!
L. J.
Staff do their best to accommodate clients.
The food was good.
Very clean and quiet.
24 hour room service, although there is not much to choose from overnight.
No air-conditioning in the rooms, but I did ask staff for a fan, and they came to my door within a few minutes with one for me.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here.
S. C.
Excellent hotel. Happy, friendly staff and the food was cooked beautifully.
J. C.
A very comfortable one night stay whilst attending concert at RAH. Fair value given location (I did book 3 months in advance though). Small but adequate room, well appointed. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
D. S.
Lovely period property in a beautiful & refined part of London. Staff are excellent & courteous .. the dining rooms, bar & waiting areas are decorated to a really high standard. A lovely place to spend a short break in London. Thanks also for upgrading us..it was much appreciated :-)
D. M.
Nice clean very small room. Our room overlooked a lot of trees which was very pretty. Close to Museums and trains/subway stations. Not really our cup of tea and even though we didn't spend much time there it was a nice couple of days to end our London experience.
M. C.
Quiet clean hotel in good location. Friendly helpful staff
S. A.
The staff were soo welcoming, professional and helpful! Like anything you asked them for wasn’t a trouble at all! From the second we stepped in to the second we stepped out! The room, bedding, location, the bathroom, toiletries that were available including bath robes and slippers, everything was of top quality! Breakfast at the restaurant was amazing, set menu included with a buffet, best of both worlds!!! The staff at the restaurant are so well mannered, polite and helpful also. Loved every minute of staying here!
C. E.
Do not stay here if the outside temperature is above 65f. The windows only open a few inches and you will suffocate in the heat! There is no AC and no room ventilation. The 1st night we found a clogged up tub and sink drain. (the maid should have reported it if she cleaned before releasing us the room!) We reported it the following morning. It took until 11PM for the plumber to fix! We had to sit in the lounge all evening waiting for it to get fixed. Those photos of the standard room show a nice bed but that’s also the width of the room with about 1.5 feet to the walls. The bathroom from door to tub is 28 inches!
Staff are nice and breakfast is not bad. Location close to museums and tube and there are great little restaurants and pubs nearby — these are the best reasons to stay here. We were miserable all 4 nights trying to sleep in a heat wave in a tiny hot box.
S. K.
Location is fantastic - very close to Gloucester road underground which was very handy. The area overall is great too. However, the rooms are below average. We were shoved in their basement so basically zero views. Bathroom was tiny and for a 6'3" guy I had no room to move. Cleanliness was good though. Brekky was average.
E. R.
Perfect location, nice room.
For this price, I was expecting a nicer breakfast : there's something for every taste but all ordinary and basic products and quite no choice. Large thermos of coffee and tea, really? There's machine out there, guys, Caffè latte, cappuccino... Boiled egg for an extra cost... And if the receptionist was all smile, the waitresses, well, let's say they were too busy.
s. b.
Staff were very friendly and it has a grand feeling to the place, everywhere was clean and we had all the amenities we needed. However I feel like this place could be fantastic with just a little updating a fresh coat of paint here and there and a few new furnishings in the room to bring it from all looking a bit drab and freshen it up a bit. Otherwise a pleasant stay.
E. A.
Great value! The hotel's manager resolved the booking problem, which occurred on my behalf. Location is excellent, very close to Gloucester Road tube station, supermarkets and High Road Kensington for shopping is also not far away. Hyde Park is 15 minutes walking distance.
The downside is the rooms are quite small (yet comfy), but what could be expected of an old building?
m.
Really nice, clean rooms in one of the best locations for visiting West London, particularly the museums. Lovely traditional but we'll looked after decor. Friendly staff and management. Not best for parking, use the Holiday Inn across the road.
M. S.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The decor looks pretty run down though but the rooms are adequate size even though my room was changed from an executive suite to a family room for just myself. Location of the hotel is ideal as it's minutes away from the train station.
a.
Five stars all the way! Fantastic room, great location and awesome staff. The morning breakfast was stupendous as were staff also. We spent a week in London back in September 2017 and loved the hotel. I laugh at the fool who complained that there was no air conditioning! Seriously, I never even noticed it wasn't there! And besides, you don't need air conditioning in London. London air conditioning is called getting your @$$ up and open the window.
When we go back to London this will be our place to stay at again!
A&B from Los Angeles
G. T.
Rooms are cosy and warm, staff are really helpful and friendly. Gloucester Road tube is a 2 min walk away so great location to get in and out of central London. Good location for the big museums.
S. T.
Lovely old building with character. In a quiet street but only 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Also only 10 minute walk to the Royal Albert Hall. Handy for Hyde Park, V&A, science museum and natural history museum. Not really suitable for children, customers were 'mature', very quiet. Only disappointment was the size of the room, but would definitely stay here again when visiting London for the peace and quiet.
P. H.
Lovely hotel, staff were friendly and helpful. Upgraded our room for free. Rooms are cleanly and spacious with comfortable beds. Great links to the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace. A great place all round.
S. B.
Room was a little bit small but we had a short visit so that wasn't too bad. The building is beautiful and in a great location close to museums and restaurants. Very well furnished and decorated, modern yet traditional. Helpful and friendly staff
C. C.
Centrally located to the activities which I had planned. Service is excellent and continental breakfast in the traditional British style is decent. Double sized room somewhat cramped but with modern conveniences including USB charging outlets. Firm bed.
T. M.
The Grange Strathmore Hotel is a good quality hotel near Gloucester Road Tube station. The rooms were a high standard and had the unexpected bonus of little balconies which were lovely to stand on in the spring sunshine. I can think of …
T. M.
The location of this hotel is really good. The room was tiny. For 15 GBP, the continental breakfast is a joke. We were greeted by friendly staff in a beautiful Victorian ***sion turned hotel. The building is the former home of the Earl Of Strathmore and its a beautiful place to stay.
D. T.
Beautiful period building and rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly.Only had a salad but very tasty Unable to work television and hairdryer not suitable for long hair. Good location for piccadily tube station.
T. M.
We wanted to be close to the Royal Albert Hall. Breakfast was included and as they were charging 15 Pounds for the Buffet and 20 Pounds for the Full Breakfast my hopes were high. The location is excellent for tourists. The en suite bathroom was quite stylish and sparkly clean.
K. Q.
Excellent location, close to all the museums. 10 minutes to the V & A. Comfortable beds. Lovely staff at the reception. Pricing fair for location. Rooms are standard size for London but manageable.
M. A.
Nice, if a bit faded. Staff is very friendly and works hard to help guests. Superior Double room was small. Area near Gloucester road tube has great museums but limited though adequate stores, restaurants etc. History buffs will like that house was originally owned by Queen Mother's father, grandfather to Elizabeth Ii.
D. B.
Comfortable room in a very good location. Friendly staff. Didn't use any of the hotels facilities so cannot comment on these but from what I saw it appeared to be well maintained and managed.
G. H.
Great Hotel will definitely stay here again
T. M.
Happy to store baggage the following day. Room had lots of magazinesa nice touch. Bus trip of staying at hotel which kept me awake all night slamming bedroom doors. The males at the concierge and the girls at the restaurant for breakfast were lovely and kind. Definitively worth your business.
K. H.
Made our London trip that little bit more spectacular, great hotel.
A. D.
Lovely hotel. Friendly people.
P. V.
Been here several times already.Nice rooms (although a bit cramped) for a very reasonable price considering other hotels in London. Biggest reason I keep coming back, besides the rice however, is it's excellent location: naar Knightsbridge, Exhibition Road and great tube connections just a short walk away!
F. M.
Beautiful decor, lovely rooms, friendly staff and great location. Relaxing lounge and bar good breakfast !
D. W.
Classic hotel with spacious rooms and great breakfast options. Centrally located - walking distance from Gloucester Road underground, the museums and Knightsbridge. Great service and friendly staff.
D. V.
It is okay. Rooms are good. Nice bar/lounge area. Staff are not that great. They could definitely be more friendly. Other than that there is not much more to say about the hotel.
T. M.
Front desk lady was brilliant. Very proximal to the underground station and positioned close to Victoria station for easy access to Gatwick and the Rail network. The connecting walls are pretty thin too so if anyone is in the next room watching TV or talking then woe betide Not my favourite place to stay.
S. K.
Hotel is on a quiet side street off Cromwell Road. Great Kensington location 5 min walk from Gloucester Rd tube. Most impressive was the excellent water-pressure (unusual in London) and plenty of hot water. My room was just ok, but acceptably priced considering dates/location.
K. V.
Like all overseas hotel rooms, they are small, but clean and with a shower I could stay in for days! You cannot beat the location. We only ate one meal there and it was strictly frozen pre-fab food. What we did enjoy was the Scoff and Banter in the next block as well as the fabulous Waitrose Grocery store next to the Glouster Road Tube station. They had great sandwiches as well as hot food to go. There was also a Boots Pharmacy right there as well. I am already planning to go back and am definitely planning to stay here. Not one of the staff was a British national, but all were nice, helpful and polite, especially Alex who indulged my American need for ice cubes. If they had a mini fridge in the room it would be perfect. Maybe next visit they will!
C. R.
Quiet and clean. The room was spacious with nice linens and a very good breakfast. There is easy access to the underground and handy to 3 reknowned museums.
J. M.
Excellent room very clean and excellent value would stay here every time I come to London staff were very friendly and hotel is inn a great quiet location thank s too all the staff for your help
F. N.
The interior was beautiful, the staff were lovely and the rooms were lovely. Shower was a little small but not really a problem. Food was amazing (highly recommend the club sandwich). Overall very nice place.
T. M.
The hotel overall is spotless. We can't speak highly enough of the excellent staff. Staff were helpful and the concierge let me leave my bag after check out while I went out to explore before it was time to leave the SW7 area for somewhere a bit less overbearingly posh.
T. M. H.
The room was in a good condition however if the windows could be opened would have been better as my stay was in summer time despite there is a fan provided on the room, still felt a little bit too hot
T. R.
The hotel is strategically located near glocester road tube station and bus station and imperial college. However, the room is so small that make you won't be comfortable to stay inside the room. The absence of air con in the room makes it worse in the hot and humid summer. Ask the staff for a room in the lower floor, perhaps it will be little bit cooler.
K. H.
Nice hotel in a very nice area. Clean rooms, quite big. Expensive breakfast, so we went somewhere else for that.
S. C.
Rooms are great, clean and spacious; however, those beds need a change too hard and pillows to stiff. Not a good sleep tbh. Location is really good :)
E. W.
Great location for the Albert Hall. Pleasant staff, rooms were clean and tidy and there wasn't an issue with road noise. The rooms get a bit stuffy - no aircons or fans and only a small window.
H. H.
Plush and airy, meeting rooms are lovely size. A little stuffy on the edges, the dining room left us walking out to experience the local eating places.
T. P. C.
I went for the toastmasters club event. I must say real, raw talents. I wished I loved closer by would become a member. It's a good way to improve confidence, public speaking, and networking.
T. M.
We have been positively surprised by our pleasant stay at Grange Strathmore Hotel in London. Situated southwest of Hyde Park in a quiet residential area. Best thing was the location which was between South Kensington and Gloucester Rd tube stations and within short walking distance of the museums, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park etc.
J. S.
Disappointed. Tiny SUPERIOR ROOM at the top of the house.. very clean. television did not work .was told it was because it was old?? .bar food awful.breakfast very good staff 50/50 friendly.. thank goodness only 2 nights....
M. S.
Smallish rooms but clean and with good service
C. C.
Nice well or priced hotel, clean.
L. M.
Very helpful staff and a cute bar downstairs. They let us bring in our own bottle of champagne and didn't charge a fee for chilling and opening it.
V. R.
One the finest places I stayed till date. The room are humongous and feels a bit royal with the colors. The breakfast is amazing.
O. M.
Location is the biggest pro here. The breakfast is weak, and the rooms are kinda small. Anyhow, enjoyed my stay here a few years ago.
C. L.
A very traditionell and classic, historical hotel. You are trow back to the old british times. We got a very good offer for ohne night. Good location!
K.
When I was in london I stay there one night. Not a bad hotel at all.But few things to be improved such as hotel staff should be more friendly, helpful etc.
V. S.
Located in a quiet street, the hotel, like many Grange hotels, looks a but tired, but it is pleasant enough. Wouldn't stay there for an entire afternoon but is good enough for a decent quick quiet drink.
A. L.
Stunning room. Great location and the prices are not even that bad for West London. One of my new favourite hotels whilst on business.
K. K.
Small rooms. Cold and windy In the rooms. Lots of stairs if you have difficulties. Good service. Polite.
A. F.
Beautiful building large family room and very clean. Staff were helpful but room had no air conditioning.
T. S.
The rooms wgere a little small but well presented. Watch-out for the window cleaner at 9am on the roof...don't sleep in!
K. R.
Lovely hotel with great food and a friendly staff. This was our favorite stay in London.
T. M.
The room and bathroom condition were good. But I couldn’t see air conditioner. Also hotel amenity was not very good.
S. S.
Staff were friendly and helpful but overpriced for the room we got, fairly tired interior, wallpaper coming off the walls. Average.
M. C.
Lovely hotel. Great location.
A. S.
A heritage building having warm staff. Windows in some rooms are too high. The breakfast is the same every day.
D. H.
Room was small. But very close to the museums
S. M.
I'm staying in a 3 bedroom room, and there the room is very tiny. No room to leave luggage or walk around. Tv is slow too
S. M.
Very pleasant, good value for the area and rooms were nice enough and a reasonable size for South Kensington!
E. D.
It’s a little small, especially in the rooms, but it is a nice experience, and I found the staff to be very accommodating.

(Translated) I stayed in this hotel housed in the noble, splendid residence of the Earl of Strathmore, located in the most elegant and exclusive area of London, Soth Kensington for a weekend.
Despite the above, the atmosphere of the hotel is "friendly" and of deep kindness on the part of all the staff who are always available for any request.
Reception and concierge from 10 and praise, room more than welcoming, top cleaning and comfortable beds. The room is equipped with satellite TV and every comfort, from the teapot with pods to the safe.
On the ground floor an atmospheric breakfast room, great attention to detail, a vast choice of savory dishes, less sweets, a more than excellent English breakfast (cost 23 pounds).
Adjacent is a reading room with fireplace and bar, very elegant in its curtains.
2 minutes from the hotel exit you will find the tube (Gloucester road) which in no time will take you to the covent garden, Piccadilly, Leicester square or to the quiet of Green park, a few steps from Buckingam Palace. If you prefer to move to the Thames or London Eye you will always have a very short journey. All of London at your fingertips. I thank all the staff for their great kindness. From today if I have to stop in London I will come back here. Highly recommended also for the honesty of the prices. An excellence!

(Translated) Used at the end of 2018. The interior of the hotel is tasteful as well. I think basically it is a good hotel. The staff is also friendly and very kind, and the response is speedy. As for the room, the room I used had no particular problem, and the shower was full of hot water, but my friend who stayed at another room moved to another room due to water leakage from the ceiling of the shower room (crying ) Well, this is an accident _.

(Translated) Nice hotel in a very nice location.
The rooms are rather small, but very clean.
The breakfast buffet is okay with no special highlights. But with one exception, the entire - apparently Eastern European - staff in the breakfast area was rather unmotivated and cold to cold.
Wishes were accepted, but probably only because they seemed to be so arranged.
Here actually only max 3 *
On the other hand, we were particularly positive about the entire reception staff. Here you got the impression that they understand their job and enjoy doing it. Kudos to the ladies! A figurehead for the hotel! Here more like 5 *
The bar should also be mentioned. Very nice and tasteful with attentive bartenders.

Nettes Hotel in sehr schöner Lage.
Hier eher 5*
Zu erwähnen ist ebenso die Bar. Sehr schön und geschmackvoll mit aufmerksamen Barkeepern.

(Translated) Mixed opinion. On the one hand, the hotel is in a great location! Close to an underground station, a few stops from Covent Garden, on a quiet street, our room overlooked the park. The reception is ok. The hotel is really very very beautiful!
But the elevator takes a long time to arrive, the room is really small, I didn't expect that much! The anxiety-inducing bathroom (tiny). Beauty products (shower gel etc) blah ...
The bed is quite comfortable.

(Translated) It is a classic elegant English Victorian hotel that I loved its typical English air !! but it doesn't have air conditioning and we caught the heat wave. Being 4 * it does not have a fridge.
I asked for a quadruple room. Very small but adequate bathroom. The large room, it is appreciated that in a cabinet there was a kettle with tea, infusions and soluble coffee. Furniture needs some maintenance but very comfortable beds.

(Translated) The advantage is that this hotel is located in the very chic Kesinghton. Do not miss: the typical English bar. On the other hand it is unfortunate that the staff of the breakfast is so disrespectful. Special mention to the young woman of the reception which was the little care for me.

(Translated) We love this hotel. It is peculiar, attractive and so comfortable. All the staff are so professional, optimistic, and can't do much more for us. We stayed with the other two pairs, and they even gave us breakfast each morning in our own unique room. So many small touches and extra surprises are included, breakfast waiting outside the door, tea with mini sandwiches, incredible hot chocolate, candles and ice cream at night, and emotional sprays when the mood is low.

(Translated) Located in the Kensington district and surrounded by the Natural Science and Victoria & Albert museums, it occupies a building on a very quiet street, which was the mansion in London of the maternal grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, the Earl of Strathmore. 77 comfortable rooms although some bathrooms are quite small even for one person. Shower cabin too narrow. Good breakfast buffet. Helpful and helpful staff.

(Translated) Historic and cozy hotel with a pleasant staff. Minimal lack of proper ventilation. However, the experience is good between Christmas holidays. I waited a little more for breakfast. To survive a long day, I recommend taking an English breakfast.

Historiallinen ja kotoisa hotelli, jossa miellyttävä henkilökunta. Pienenä miinuksena kunnollisen ilmanvaihdon puuttuminen. Kokemuksena kuitenkin hyvä joulunpyhien välissä. Aamiaiselta odotin hieman enemmän. Pärjätäkseen pitkälle päivään suosittelen ottamaan englantilaisen aamiaisen.
