Smart and stylish hotel with happy helpful staff. Even the larger rooms are quite small but have everything that you need. We stayed in a room on the top floor so we did not have any road noise but the ceiling did feel a bit low. Breakfast is inline with the hotel, leaning towards modern style wellness and health (no meat option for the sausages) Thin walls and large TVs mounted on them meant that I could tell what next door were watching.

A short walk from Paddington station, this small hotel is in a nice, leafy area. I arrived late on a Saturday evening but the hotel was still very clean and the staff were welcoming. There is a lift to the upper floors. The room itself, although clean and pleasant was small for a double room. The wardrobe is in a corner with a pull out rack of hangers. There is a table with a piano stool underneath. An ironing boar and iron were available inside the wardrobe and a kettle with tea and coffee is also provided. The bathroom has complimentary soap, shower gel and shampoo available for use. However the space in the bathroom is very limited so a tall individual would struggle to comfortably use it. The bed was comfortable with different types of pillows available. My room was on the side of the main road so I was awakened early in the morning to the sound of buses and motorbikes. Overall this is a pleasant, clean, safe and welcoming hotel to stay in if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep - just ask for a room that doesn't face the main road.

Me and my young family stayed here on the 2.12.17. The room we had was the executive suit. In the room we had a double queen bed and a single bed. We had to bring a travel cot with us for our 1yr old, we forgot The bedding so asked staff to arrange a quilt cover and a pillow, the staff did this without hesitation. The room size was a nice size, there was an up to date TV supplied also.

A lovely stay, we were upgraded to the club house as it was our first time staying. We went to see the lion king. Staff friendly and room lovely n comfy. Shower was powerful and clean with fluffy towels.

Visited on 20 Jan 18. We were expecting our second baby and wanted the hotel to accommodate our needs. The staff, in particular, Angelo, were very helpful. Angelo did whatever he could to to cater our needs. If you are looking for EXTREMELY high quality personalized service, ask to speak with Angelo. Excellent - highly recommended!!

Wonderful hotel, room was small but the extra little touches made up for that, like a fruit basket, lots of toiletries and great staff. Only complaint was the curtains were too narrow for the window so couldn't pull them without a large gap at either end.

We recently visited London and stayed at the Metropolis. It was a 5 minute walk from Paddington Station. On our arrival we were greeted by the staff with a warm welcome. Our double club room was adequate in size although the three other deluxe single rooms were on the small side. However the cleanliness and facilities were 100%. There was a full choice breakfast menu which was superb. All the staff were so helpful and accommodating. I have stayed in a number of hotels in the vicinity over recent years and have been disappointed.We would strongly recommend the Metropolis to anyone and intend to stay here again.

Nice clean boutique hotel. However some rooms feel very crammed in with some windows opening into an unaired tiny courtyard making the rooms very hot so i would ask for a room with an external window (probably towards the back as it will be quieter away from the main road). Otherwise i recommend keeping your aircon on during the night so that you don't wake up with a headache. Staff are polite but could make a better effort at keeping customers at ease. One hotel worker (or perhaps he was security) srood with a very unimpressed expression when three of us went to check. We were excitable and vocal but not disruptive however i felt very unwelcome. Plus the receptionist confirmed to my colleague that he was due to stay at a sister hotel but as we were together he would let him stay at this hotel on Sussex Grdns even though he booked that very hotel. We thought it odd that they would accept such a booking in the first place if they turf you over to a sister hotel at check in!

I booked into this hotel, on the 26th, i had read a few reviews, and thought, well so what i will try it out. The Hotel was Excellent for the price, and location, fair enough maybee the room i was in was a bit small, but was not too bad. Was very clean, and and plenty hot water, and nice bathroom. Good tv, Comfy bed. I liked this hotel, somebody said the eggs were powder, mines were not, i had propper scamled egg, and a nice breakfast, with good staff. You wont get any better than this for the the price and location, it is close to everything central. Nice area, if you want a drink, there is a pub right accross the road. i WOULD RECOMEND THIS HOTEL, AND WOULD USE IT AGAIN. Believe me, i know this area, and there are some dodgy bed and breakfasts out there, This is not one of them i will give it 5*****. Thanks Shaftsbury.

Nice hotel. Room was very small but satisfying, although it has seen better times. Countless restaurants around, 10 min walk to Paddington Station and Heathrow Express.

Went for a Deluxe Double Room. Was quite small, no natural light (window faced into a corridor), and no desk to work at - but served it's purpose adequately. Got the room at a last minute discount, otherwise would not have paid full price.

Great location, 5 minutes walking distance to paddington station and 10-15 minutes to hyde park and oxford street The staff are very helpful and friendly, they will bot hesitate to help or change the room if possible, also i ordered many things online and i found everything dropped by staff in my room.
