Room isn’t very large and pub next door was loud... but the room was lovely, bathroom was immaculately kept. Hotel had beautiful stained glass and an old but historic feel. Lobby smelt amazing, staff was helpful and walking distance to good food, pubs, landmarks and museums!! Will go back!

The rooms and service are quite nice, though the bathrooms could really use a.. bit more of everything. Also plan to transport the family in groups of you need to use the elevator - it's functional, but tiny. One other thing, though not the hotel's fault, we didn't think of was that with no on site parking, there's no easy way for a someone (like a taxi) to stop and drop you off. The bus drivers are more than a little protective of their bus lanes.

Had a lovely stay here. Customer service was brilliant and the rooms were very clean and tidy. Only downfall is how small the showers are there isn't much room and the setting is very powerful to get any hot water.

My 12-year-old daughter and I stayed at the hotel for five nights. The hotel is very cute and clean. The staff is amazing and very friendly. Available for any question and request 24X7. Typical 3 star hotel. High ceilings, bathroom a little smelly but not an issue with the window open. Some colleagues said their rooms were noisy. Mine was not. Restaurant was ok - tho service charge added and I didn't see a warning about this on the menu. Breakfast was standard English with continental options. Overall a good stay without being exceptional.

Hotel is in an excellent location. Staff at check in were friendly and efficient. The room itself was adequate apart from the shower being rather tame. The bar area and restaurant is comfy and welcoming and the hotel seemed spotkessly clean. Parking is non existent but don't think many visitors here arrive by car, if you do there is a car park at the Imperial Hotel next door which is 30 seconds walk away. Recommended

Really nice hotel. The rooms are small but cosy. There’s only one elevator and it’s small but we stayed on floor 2 so it wasn’t really an issue. The lobby didn’t smell great but you can’t beat the location and price. Great for a traveller on a budget

Rooms are small and bathrooms cramped in the standard double. It was clean and comfortable though. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the décor in the rooms and the common areas was tired and uninspiring. The breakfast was excellent. Not enough mains sockets in the room. So by no means bad, and fair for the price, but in need of a refurbishment.

Upgrade We arranged our booking directly with the hotel and were absolutely thrilled to find that we had been given a king room instead of the standard double room that we had booked. The breakfast was excellent and the hotel staff were really friendly. The hotel is in a really super location - just a short walk to the British Museum, Russell Square underground station, the entertainment district and plenty of eating options.

Couldn’t recommend enough, stayed for our anniversary and was not disappointed! We were really happy with the location and the room itself. Rooms are nice a little noisy from the streets below, but the bed is comfortable. Iron and board held in the room with kettle. No plug near the bed though. Food was nice, except the cooked English breakfast a bit greasy and but a good selection of cereal fruit and pastries make up for it.

A very small hotel. We registered for two rooms for 3 persons (each), we arrived at a very late hour and found out that one of the rooms was not prepared with a third bad it took 15 minutes for the staff to arrive to the room, asking me to set the sofa/bad myself, I refused so the guy did it and it took another 20 minutes... (while the kids falling asleep standing). We received rooms in a different floor, a room above the other (the hotel has only one room that contains 3 people per floor). The rooms floor was horribly creaking, once my sons walked gently in their toom (the floor above us) we could hear each one of their steps and map each son's location in the room. The hotel location is very good. Breakfast was good. Staff mostly nice.

I was sceptical the night before checking in due to the poor intermittent phone line and switchboard service of the Thistle hotels. However, when I arrived, the room was exquisite featuring a lounge with a television and two sofas and coffee machine. Additionally, the bed was the biggest I've ever slept in and provided complimentary drinks. I called up the concierge late at night for some drinks and glasses and they arrived promptly and very quickly. Compared to room service I've had at 5* hotels, this was the best and most hospitable I've ever stayed. Very affordable and will be coming back to stay in room 605. This really made my week. Thank you

This is an excellent location at a good price. I wish I had booked directly as there is a discount or free breakfast then. The staff were friendly and helpful. Besides being a few blocks from the British Museum, it is close to many restaurants and shops. The Underground is a five-minute walk.

People very nice. Even when our family member threw up at the breakfast table! Rooms clean but very small. Americans be aware in-room toilets are small, no washcloths provided, shower stalls tiny. Food in restaurant is really, really good. If you ask front desk for "Band-Aids" be sure to enunciate well. The sweet young lady first brought out a dish of mayonnaise! After changing my noun to "bandage" and circling one finger around the other, she blushed and we all got a vigorous chuckle over it. Many wonderful people have immigrated to U.K. English is still second language for many/most. Be prepared and please be patient with them.

Clean, simple. Good for price. We had a room on the fifth floor which was quiet although rather warm (it was one of the warmest days of the year). We were given a couple of fans. Not far from two underground stations, many cafes and bars in the area.

The staff was very professional and kind, the room was very clean. Every day we found the room clean and the bed ready. Cleanliness at this rate is something rare in London. We were given, free of charge, an adaptor and we could print our boarding passes. What to say? It is not the cheapest solution, but it is not expensive and it is worth every penny: Good value for money!! Position was perfect: a short stroll from the British Museum, and a walk away from Holborn, Tottenham and Covent Garden.

Breakfast Room was cold, always cold. Decor dated, mould in shower/toilet. Water marks on ceiling. Not what I expect for a £200+ room, very disappointed, I will not be staying here again.

Greg and Giovanna at the front desk were so helpful when we arrived. Thanks to air travel setbacks, we arrived 18 hours later than expected. Although my husband had contacted our travel agent via email about our airline woes, we didn't know what to expect when we arrived. When my husband and I walked into the lobby, Greg and Giovanna knew right away who we were, why we were checking in at 8 am, and had our room ready. Greg offered us a complimentary hot breakfast to help our stay in London start off right, which I am incredibly grateful for. A hand written note was waiting in our room to thank us for choosing the Bloomsbury Park hotel. Not only is this hotel in a safe and very convenient location, it is very clean, well kept, and quiet. I couldn't be happier with our choice to stay at the Thistle, and look forward to the rest of our vacation, knowing we have such an attentive staff here.

Service was courteous. Public areas are as you'd expect from Thistle. Bedrooms have the standard, basic Thistle furnishings. So far, so standard. But my bedroom window was single glazed and overlooked 2 pubs. There's no air con. The bath was chipped and the bathroom window's blind was mouldy - not a patch of mould: covered completely in mould spots. Shudder.

I stayed in this hotel for a total of 3 nights. The hotel is located rather near the Holborn train station, and there is a direct train from Heathrow airport to the station. Room was a little small but bearable. Toilet was decently sized but it drains too slowly, and overflows sometimes. As someone with low expectations for a stay, the room satisfied my needs.

Don't let the 3-star rating fool you! Great place to stay. To get more than 3 stars you now need to have certain high end features at your hotel (not easy in historic areas of London where you can't usually upgrade buildings to accommodate a roof-top pool!). There aren't many hotels better located in London worth staying in...and the others are all 2-4 times the price. Charming, historic building (best location...right by the national museum)...no generic hotel experience...you truly feel like your in London when you stay here! The staff takes care of you like you are genuinely their "guests". I took my Mom and Grandma on a once in a lifetime multi-gen trip...they took great care of us and we truly had a real "London" experience!

The hotel is a little bit tired, creaking floors, very slow lift. Also they are having work done which means that half of the hotel has no lift access. Which is a pain if you are on the 4th floor. Despite this the staff are fantastic.

Good central location near Euston station for trains nationally and the other main stations in the north of London for the UK. Hotel is modern and clean with 5 minutes walk to underground and bus links outside. Very close to central London but book early and get good prices. Staff were lovely and food for breakfast was good. Eat in for dinner? I did not but why bother when there are so ooo many good Italian restaurants close by.

It's an old hotel and if I want to spend a cheap holiday in London, then you have to make a few compromises We were there for five days and the service was just great. The staff always friendly and helpful. Our first room was small, but it was clean and tidy. In the room itself the odor was neutral, but in the reception area it smelled very strongly of room fragrance. We had a small bathroom with a shower, perfectly adequate for me and my daughter. We had to change rooms once because it was raining a bit. We got a new room in the middle of the night without any problems and the room was even bigger. As an excuse we got a bottle of Prosecco from the hotel. The long one was great, from here you can get anywhere quickly, whether on foot or by subway. I would book this hotel again at any time. 👍👍👍 (Original) Also, erstmal sollte ich mal sagen, das einige von den schlechten Bewertungen einfach nicht zutreffen. Es ist ein alten Hotel und wenn ich günstig in London Urlaub machen möchte, dann muss man ein paar Abstriche machen.😉 Wir waren fünf Tage da, und der Service war einfach super. Das Personal immer freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser erstes Zimmer war zwar klein, aber es war sauber und ordentlich. Im Zimmer selber war der Geruch neutral, aber im Empfangsbereich roch es sehr stark nach Raumduft. Wir hatten ein kleines Bad mit Dusche, für mich und meine Tochter völlig ausreichend. Wir mussten einmal das Zimmer wechseln, weil es ein bisschen rein geregnet hat. Wir bekamen mitten in der Nacht ein neues Zimmer, ohne Probleme und das Zimmer war auch noch größer. Als Entschuldigung bekamen wir noch eine Flasche Prosecco vom Hotel. Die lange war super, von hier kommt man überall schnell hin, egal ob zu Fuß oder mit der U-Bahn. Ich würde jederzeit wieder dieses Hotel buchen. 👍👍👍

Not at all as worn as many hotels in London can be! The breakfast exceeded expectations, with buffet food containing bacon, eggs, sausages, scrambled eggs etc. Toast, yoghurt with cereals, nuts and dried fruit! Great location along the Piccadilly line, between Russell square and Holborn. We will happily stay here again when we visit London next time!
