Stayed here back in 2019 and absolutely loved it. Keep forgetting to post a review. The staff were super lovely. The cleanest bathroom I've ever had in a hostel. Met so many lovely people and enjoyed the underground bar so much. I would absolutely stay here again and will always recommend it!

Wombat Hostel in London is an amazing, super clean and enjoyable hostel. I've been there for 3 weeks and I had a great time with people from all around the world. There is a fully equipped kitchen and you can have a delicious breakfast every morning. The room was perfect and the staff is really helpful. The basement is so cool (bar/pool table/drinking game are possible/chill out area...).

Honestly, this is a fantastic hostel. Has everything you would look for in a place to stay. Lively environment, clean rooms, great bar, tasty coffee and breakfast and a huge workspace during the day with good wifi (turns into the bar at night). Excellent part of town and more than anything else, the workers are super friendly and helpful. Would come back!

Loved our stay! We booked an 8 bed private dorm for 8 of us. The shower was great and free towels at reception. Really clean, comfortable and warm. The best part was the bar in the basement where we enjoyed a night of drinks and games. All the staff really friendly, would recommend!

One of the best hostels I've been to.
Definitely the best when it comes to dormitory and working remotely -
1. You have your own big locker to keep your laptop and all, and it's behind 4 locks - the locker, the room, the floor, the entrance. To me that was a big deal.
2. Ample space to work in
3. The kitchen is very well equipped, and surprisingly not too busy
4. Everything is very clean all the time
5. Great staff, great guests
6. Low price

One of the most clean and modern hostels we've stayed in. We shared a 6 bed mixed dorm room and the bathroom was spotless. Great central location too. Helpful, friendly staff. Would stay again

I stayed in the hostel for a few days, full of good memories.
The receptionist Jules is very professional and helpful! He provides a 5-start service! I really want to say “thank you” again to him for helping me with my booking on 5 Dec! You made my day! I’ll definitely come back again!

Surprisingly the best ever hostel experience I have ever had! I stayed in 4 bedroom female only dorm and got maximum privacy I could ask for in a hostel! My highlight is making friends with random strangers over an intensive (and random) chess game in the lounge. Self-catering service also satisfied my craving of cooking my own meal. Made good friends across countries and continents. Definitely going back on whatever occasion. Reception staff are not the friendliest but everything else about the hostel can surpass this (I think).
L. S.
A well run place, accommodation is clean and tidy. Shower rooms and toilets are always clean. Definitely worth a stay. Prices very reasonable

Amazing hostel! Really kind reception that will help you with anything. The rooms are nice and clean. Breakfasts are all that you can ask for.
P. O.
You know the cleaning crew does a high quality job when you see a toilet roll with a triangle fold to welcome new arrivals!
A very nice and clean hostel with a good mix of visitors of all age groups. Good hanging out zones and TVs with Netflix in the lounge
M. B.
Great place to stay! Cozy and clean atmosphere, extremely friendly and attentive staff. The best coffee in town, try the espresso….

the reviews don't match. I have been there 6 days, it is an average hostel, with many things that are not good. a hostel that deserves a grade of 6, ie sufficient.Mario

A very nice place to stay, staff on the desk very friendly, superb atmosphere. Had a twin room with my friend, it was basics bed, on suite, a wet room, but that's all we needed. Everywhere was very clean. Communal kitchen downstairs and a bar. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others.

Hands down the best hostel I have ever stayed at in any city/country. Worth every penny. Right in the heart of the hip East London Docklands. Short walk south down Dock Street from Aldgate East Tube Station.
I was here in Nov 2019- The comfort level is honestly on par with any hotel. The rooms are renovated and spotless, with very generous-sized lockers which can be locked & unlocked electronically with your keycard. The lovely walk-in showers are modern and minimalist with rain-style showerheads. Altogether the amenities are wonderful for a hostel.
The underground pub/relaxation/kitchen/late night chill space is the highlight of the place though, and is top-notch.
The breakfast served every morning in this underground space was delicious, fresh, all-you-can-eat and excellent for the money and the price of it- Less than £5- was way cheaper than buying breakfast at any restaurant nearby would have been. What a bargain! The nightly happy hour down at the bar is a wonderful way to knock back some drinks, chill out and meet cool people from all over the world. There's even an outdoor area adjoining this space as well
Wombats have a great product on their hands and I can't wait to try their other city locations elsewhere in Europe.
Cannot recommend this place enough, particularly if you're in your 20s like myself. Even if you're not typically a "hostel person"... You will not be sorry.
*Disclaimer- My stay here was in late 2019, pre-COVID... I'm not sure how accurate all the info I gave is anymore, may be best to contact Wombats directly or have a look at their website for most accurate info*

First night at an 8 bed "Garden" room as they call it was dreadful. The room is underground with a lot of noise from the outside and light. Second night I went for a 4 bed and asked to be on a higher floor and my experience was much much better. I would normally put 3 stars because of how bad the first night was, but the staff was friendly, helpful and the facilities where good.
L. v. D.
Nice people, good underground bar and a clean room. The basic breakfast is 5 pounds and ideal if you have a long day planned.
F. B.
Good location and cheap. Rooms very basic and grubby (see photographic example)
A. W.
Great location and super friendly staff. Perfect for budget travellers/ solo travellers. Very close to Tower Bridge🇬🇧
J. P.
Brilliant hostel.
Would deffo stay again. The bar downstairs is awesome in the evening, and super cheap!!
D. G.
Lovely place, would recommend everyone to check it out and have a good time.
Staff is nice and helpful, price and quality is good. Nothing to complain about and would come back for sure. Ofcourse no place is perfect but don’t let that scare you away.
A. H.
Very nice and good overall, close the the Tower Bridge and River Thames.
The price per quality is 10/10
Very good staff
L. R.
Amazing stay here! The room was clean and a great size, and the staff are second to none!! (Special shout out to Wayne! - he couldn’t have done enough for us and had good banter too) next time I’m in London I will 1000% be staying again! Shame the bar wasn’t open but it’s the times we live in!
A. D.
Great location, awesome staff and clean rooms/bathrooms.
E. C.
Super friendly, clean, safe and great facilities! Would highly recommend.
W.
The check-in process was extremely slow when I arrived with multiple people cutting in line in front of me as I waited. The workers lacked a sense of urgency and had me waiting over 30 minutes to get attended to. Quite unfortunate.
S. K.
Probably the best hostel in london.
Location 4/5
Cleanliness 5/5
Amenities 5/5
J. D.
First time visiting this Hostel and was absolutely blown away by how comfortable and cosy the rooms and decor were. The bar and breakfast was unfortunately shut because of Covid which is understandable (there were plenty of pubs and cafés in walking distance so this was no big issue). Customer service was very willing to help us as we checked out which was very kind of them. Many attractions like Tower Bridge were in walking distance which is great for hostel with such cheap rooms. Very pleased and will look forward to a second stay.
L.
great place to stay, well located and great and friendly staff on the top, they are always available to help you, specially Ticiano. Big thanks to all!!
E. B.
Great people, great staff! Would have been 5 stars if they let me DJ 😋.
M. W.
Really enjoyed my time in this hostel! Rooms are clean and quite spacious. Only downside was that there was only the one WC and separate shower room inside our 8-people dorm room. Would be nice if they had a general restroom on each floor outside of each of the dorm rooms. Otherwise, the bar downstairs is fun and pretty relaxed the times I was there. About an 8 minute walk straight down the road to the Aldgate East tube stop which was quite convenient!
M. G.
Budget friendly, clean rooms, nice services
M. J.
This was my first trip to a hostel and we really enjoyed it. We stayed in a 6 girl dorm and got along great with our roommates. The area with the bar is AMAZING and very lively at night.
I dropped a star because I was disappointed in the customer service, when we first checked in, the guy wasn’t very helpful or friendly. He didn’t explain how everything worked; like how the lockers worked or bed linen or towels and where to get those items.
The people working at the bar though were super nice and friendly!
Also the floors inside the room were dirty, every time I stepped in the shower there’s black dirt and hair and dust, every time we put on our shoes we had to wipe all the stuff our feet.
The beds were comfortable but just very squeaky so you can hear every time someone moves on their bed.
One thing that was very inconvenient was that in the bathrooms you aren’t allowed to plug anything in except a shaver, it was a specific outlet, so we had to curl our hair sitting on the floor without a mirror.
Otherwise, super cute environment!
w. k.
omg that's the best hostel in london i have stayed so far. staff is so friendly, rooms are being clean up everyday. you have your own locker witch you don't have to pay extra. i strongly recommended this place
K. M.
Lovely experience here, while travelling during the pandemic between lockdowns for work. Because of distancing guidelines, again this was not during the lockdown, one guest was delegated to a whole room which I thought was an impressive commitment. Staff were lovely and reception available 24/7. Very clean and well maintained. Will return when I can.
a.
Nice hostel, spacious, clean and modern especially for the price
L. O.
Love this place. A little pricey but for what you get it's worth it. The hostel has a very communal vibe. Kitchen is fantastic lots of utensils. The common areas are nice and cozy. The rooms are clean and bed is comfortable. Not far from many famous attractions. I will be back soon.
A. L.
One the best hostel i have ever been. They have a everything (if you ask for them) : fans, adapters, iron, etc (even a scale for your bags). Really friendly staff. Bathroom was clean, in the dormitories had separated toilet, shower and sink. Pretty convenient!
The only negative thing is that the bunk beds don't have curtains.
K. P.
Great first experience in a hostel. They had blow dryers and adapters for 5 pounds that you get back when you return them. Bar with good drinks in the basement. Nice kitchen and eating area. Three of us girls from the States had a room with double bunks, lockers and a private bathroom. Bed mattresses were a bit firm and worn. We felt safe and walked everywhere from this great location.
A. S.
Best place for travellers. Cheap clean. Rooms are big and clean. Go for it.
m. g.
Wow, safe, clean, good service. Go ahead and book
S.
Lovely atmosphere, great basement bar with lots of games- was able to meet some new people. Very accommodating when asked to switch rooms due to strange roommate. Love the private bathrooms- so much better than the typical hostel communal areas.
A. D.
One of the best hostels I've stayed in!! Pretty great location, about 10 minute walk from the Tower of London. They provided free towels and each room was spacious with its own en suite bathroom that you just share with your roommates. Cleaning staff came through everyday. The security was great and the lockers locked by your card... Would definitely stay here again if I return to London!
D. C.
The place has an awesome space and is incredible clean. The breakfast is pretty good for £4.90 per day, and you can eat as much as you can.
There is an impressive common area on the -1 floor, where are located the kitchen, breakfast area, sofas and also a bar, which will serve you a free drink on your first night.
The only reason not to give 5 stars is because on my last night, some friends and I were listening to music and singing and it was late already. Then a guy from staff told us to leave the place in a very rude way. Another staff guy who was with him, even tried to fix up things and asked us to chill a little bit, but everyone was so shocked by the manner (lack of) of the first guy, that we decided to leave.
R. L.
Everything a hostel should be. Clean bar, clean rooms - super cool key card system. Extremely safe and secure, in a good location. Plus the key cards work on the locker, you don't even have to bring a lock. They have adapters, hair dryers and a ton more available with a 5 pound deposit. Washer and dryer available. I had an awful experience with the St Christopher's Inn line, and this was a massive contrast. 10/10 all around.
D. M.
Stayed here for three nights on a solo trip to London. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere/decor was very cool and comfortable. The bar was really impressive for a hostel and the prices were pretty reasonable, especially during happy hour. Only issue was the room itself, actually - since the window barely opens, the room gets EXTREMELY hot overnight, even if it’s relatively cool outside; the water in the shower could only heat up to lukewarm as well. Overall a clean and nice hostel, would be 5 stars if the room were cooler.
J. S.
This hostel honestly punches way above its weight class. It's been restored to be clean and modern, but still has a ton of character. The reception area and bar downstairs are great common spaces. The bathroom and shower are honestly nicer than those in hotels I've stayed at. The electronic lockers were fantastic.
The only real downside was the bed quality. I stayed in a four bed room and the bunk beds were creaky, old wooden frames. The bedding was pretty poor as well. Pillows were thin and worn down, and you have to put your comforter into the sheet cover on your own and bring it down to the laundry bin when you check out. I've never had to do that in any other hostel.
Location is only decent for walking, but great for getting around on the tube. While you're walkable (within 10 minutes) to Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and Old Spitalfields Market, being close to the Circle/District line is ideal for hitting most major sights
This was the first of a few hostels I stayed at on my first visit to London early this month. If I did it over, I'd probably stay here the full trip!
R. J. A.
We rented an entire room as we had 6 people altogether.
The room was cleaner then I expected (for a hostel) but it is what you expect. You make the beds up yourself. The shower was large and bathroom was clean but basic floor mat and we weren't given towels. Somewhere basic to rest your head.
They welcomed us with a voucher for a small alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage in their bar downstairs which was considerate and was a nice space downstairs with tables and even pallet style chair/lounge things which were nice. Music wasn't great but everyone has different tastes.
Wifi was free and they have an array of different activities in their bar below some evenings (karaoke etc) and a guy that comes in for a free walking tour which was nice.
Nice central location as well (I think it is round the corner from Tower Gateway DLR station).
I'd say from my view of hostels this one was a bit on the nicer side but obviously isn't as nice as a hotel.
I don't think I could share a hostel room with strangers... but that's my opinion.

I loved Wombats. Some friends and I stayed there in March for about 5 nights. The Wombar is fantastic, the employees are friendly, and the rooms are pleasantly clean! Not glamorous - it’s a hostel - but it’s a good place to stay on a budget. Better than any hostel I’ve ever stayed at.
S. W.
This is a good place to stay. I was in a private room and it was very clean. Although it was the basics it was sufficient. I would stay again but preferably in another room as we were close to the tube and it was a bit noisy but this can't be helped. I wasn't a fan of the luggage room as it was not lockers so not as secure as I would like and I felt nervous about leaving my belongings there. Anyone was able to enter that stayed at the hostel to put their baggage in so something could of easily have been taken no one would have been any the wiser. Luckily though everything was fine. Apart from that issue I would definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere was good and staff were friendly and helpful.
P. Z.
The hostel is close to the city and probably the most vibrant neighbourhood in London. The rooms are clean and well ventilated. You get a free drink and during the pandemic they were reasonably priced.
B. L.
Wombat’s gave me a great 1st impression of hostels. I had a 6 person dorm and everyone was traveling like me. My room & bathroom were clean, I was never cold sleeping (in January), there were outlets + lamps next to every bed, & the location was great. Had a fun night in the bar downstairs too. The only negative I had was that the pillows were very flat. I’d definitely look into staying at some of their other locations in the future!!
J. B.
This was my first experience in a hostel in Europe, and I can say it was a great one. The rooms were big and really clean. There was a bar with lots of activities and games, and a huge kitchen for the guests. The price was good and the location was perfect. A calm neighbourhood close to Tower Bridge and with walking distance to the metro and buses.
Staff was really nice and outgoing, and the guests in the hostels are mostly young adults with lots of willingness to interact.
Would definitely stay again in one of their chain hostels!
V. L.
Staff were great. Rooms were clean and tidy. The bar for guests was buzzing and extremely affordable especially for London. It was my first time staying in a mixed dorm hostel and it was such a great experience! Would defo recommend and I would for sure stay here again!!
C. C.
This place was great. Great staff. Great space. Lots of lounge and community area to relax or listen to music. The rooms were clean and spacious. I appreciate that I could sit up in my bottom bunk bed. Lots of space in the room. Nice bathroom set up.
g. g.
The hostel is really nice. breakfast is really good! The position is great, 5 minute walk to the tube. However the mattresses in the bedroom were awful, I had a backache for the whole time I was there. Furthermore, some of the people at the reception weren't really nice and helpful.
G. G. G.
Second best hostel I've ever stayed at, hands down. The rooms were clean, newly renovated, spacious and everyone had their own plug next to the bed for easy phone charging access. Private lockers for each bed were wonderful, price was great, and the pub downstairs was huge, cheap, and accessible. The only reason I rate it second best is because the first was the same but only cost me €5 a night and had their own airport shuttle (in Dublin). But considering this is London the prices were very really reasonable, especially for what you get. I felt totally safe.
C. d. K.
Fantastic Hostel on a convenient location. Everything was clean. Beds exactly what you expect in a European hostel but at a great price and the awesome bar is the basement is a huge bonus.
One minor annoying thing was that I paid extra for late checkout but still got woken up (not nice if you have a huge hangover 😅). Must have been a mistake at the reception or something.

My family and I stayed in Wombat's London.
We simply loved our stay.
We were given a lovely sort of penthouse on 6th floor. Lovely view.
Kids also loved it.
The staff were absolutely fabulous. Very helpful and amicable.
Place to leave our baggage was also great.
The bar on the underground to enjoy a few pints and delicious breakfast.
Hope we can enjoy your services again.
F. H.
The beds were really nice and so were all the people at the reception. The all-you-can-eat breakfast was great too, and felt like quite a steal at times.
I had a room at garden 2 and it's right underneath the sidewalk outside, which was expectedly loud and without the windows open the room turns smelly and stuffy quickly.
The bathroom(s) were separated by with the toilet being in one room and the wink and shower being in the other. I just felt unorthodox and very inconvenient when another had a shower whilst someone needed their hand washed from being on the toilet first.
It's the best hostel I've ever been on though!
F. t. G.
The room was quite large and had a nice bathroom. It is clean and its location is very good as the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London can be reached within 5-10 minutes on foot. There is a Tesco's about 4 minutes away and some restaurants. The next tube station can be reached within about 7-10 minutes and gives you access to central London. The breakfast is situated in a very cool room that is also used as a bar in the evening.
S.
The shower of this hostel was the best ever so I booked an other night haha. I went in two different bedrooms, one girls only and one mixed both were spacious, clean, people in the rooms were very friendly, and I love the fact that there is independant sink, toilet, and shower room. The bar place is really cool as well. The breakfast is too expensive for what it is I would advise to eat outside for that price.
A. A.
This place was affordable, conveniently located, and our private room was spacious and had a private bathroom attached. That being said, the atmosphere was not great. More like a hotel than the other hostels we've stayed at. The downstairs bar area was just so so and don't count on their bar food always being available. This was a great option for our trip but we wouldn't go back for the atmosphere.
A. w.
Stayed the beginning of August rooms were way too hot. No AC, you can rent a fan but they don't cool the room.
Mattress and pillows are low quality, no support just a thin layer of foam.
Location was good 2 underground stations in short walking distance, the bar downstairs was great
J. G.
Really nice place with a great bar. Shower's nice, beds are comfortable too. The only negative : beds are in wood and makes a lot of noise, location is kind of noisy (+ train track). The rooms are always full and because the toilet and the shower are in the dorm, you'll be wake up by 8h for sure.
M. V.
Very nice hostel. Booked a room for 4, with own bathroom, which were 2 sturdy bunk beds, which a nice clean private bathroom with shower and separate private toilet, almost like a hotel. Usb plugs by the bedside shelf was very handy.
WiFi is good, no noise complaints, and a lovely bar with wooden beams in the basement downstairs.
Location is pretty central, with tower or London in walkin distance, and excellent tube service to the parts too far to walk (oyster card system out of automatic machines works well).
Not as cheap as hostels in many other cities, but very nice and probably best you can find in London for the price.
C. F. C.
Very good place to stay. Clean and comfortable.
Nice and friendly staff makes the atmosphere positive and vibrant. Very good breakfast for fair price.
The distance from city center is ok, to do by bike, bus or even walking.
Tip: if you get a room windowing the street, wear earplugs! The railway+cars makes sleeping time a little challenging specially if you wake up easy.
I absolutely recommend!
A. M.
One of the first hostels I stayed in. Very secure. IT would be hard to enter if you aren't a guest as swipe cards are well programmed. Modern bunks, spacious rooms. Great bar to make friends, above average breakfast. Well done!
B. S.
Great location near all the main attractions, cool neighbourhoods and public transport. Well-equipped, tidy rooms, with their own very clean and fancy-for-a-hostel bathrooms (in my case - 6 bed mixed dorm), large secure lockers, and comfy bed. Common areas very cool. The only downside I think is that is feel very impersonal because it is so huge - 6 floors of rooms. It has more the ambiance of a hotel than a hostel.
D.
Awesome hostel! Massive bar area down stairs packed with games and good, reasonably priced drinks. Loads of atmosphere and extremely easy to meet other travellers. Rooms were comfortable, a chair would be helpful so you don't have to sit on the floor to up your shoes on. Beds were fairly sturdy and relatively quiet when moved in. The separate toilet/shower/basin is very handy in a dorm room. Staff were knowledge and extremely helpful. Security was top notch, multiple looked doors and key coded locker ensures your stuff is safe. Breakfast was good, although some hot food would make it better value.
Very enjoyable stay! Can't wait to visit again.
B. D.
A great, modern hostel that looks fresh and newly renovated. I don't think my bedding was super clean- still convinced I saw boogers!!! But good experience overall and the downstairs bar is a great place to hang out and hear live music.
A. H.
Ten minute walk from the metro in a very quiet neighborhood near an underpass. Felt safe enough, but it's definitely not downtown or super convenient for public transportation. The bathrooms are surprisingly super nice for a hostel, and they clean everything well, but the mattresses and bedding looked really old and sketchy (suuuuuper worn, piss and other mysterious stains). Reception is 24 hours and staff were very friendly/helpful.
D. M.
I've stayed here several times now. The first time was 3 years ago when it was my first hostel experience. Now, I live in the UK and when friends come to visit I always have them stay here, especially if it's their first hostel experience. I've stayed in both 4 and 6 bed co-ed rooms and have never had any problems. All the roommates I've ever had were fun and I usually ended up going out in the town with them or grabbing a drink at the bar. The communal kitchen is big, modern, and you can store your stuff there with no problems. The only thing I have to nit pick at is the pillows, they're horrendous. They're unbelievably thin, I always bring my own. The rest of the bedding is completely fine though! I've only stayed here in the months of March, September, or December (when it's cooler) so I can't speak on the lack of AC. But I can tell you the heaters work great!

As an American about to head back to the states in the midst of everything going on I couldn’t be picked a better spot to stay before I left. The Wombats staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. That on top of a super clean hostel and an affordable and delicious breakfast, it was the exact stay I needed. Thanks Wombats, I look forward to returning when things improve.
M. M.
Definitely one of the best hostels in London!
J. F.
The hostel is super clean and easy to get to. I traveled to this hostel from all three airpots in London without trouble. The bar downstairs is very fun, and it stays open until 2 pm. Also, the 4-bed rooms with ensuite are clean and private, making it very easy for guests to meet others.
B. F.
Honestly the best hostel I've ever been to. It large enough that you get an awesome variety of people and comfort, yet not large enough to create that isolated vibe you get in many hostels. The staff is super amazing and the kitchen is spacious and fully equipped. The bar is has good prices and the beds are very comfortable. Would 100% recommend.
A. G.
Best hostel I've ever been to.
The rooms are really clean, you have a really big safe to put your things, they give you free towel, the shower is spacious, there is good wifi coverage everywhere in the structure. The staff is really nice and polite.
Downstairs there's also a nice bar with cheap but quite good beer.
f. g.
Beautiful hostel run by great people. The rooms are big, clean and spacious. With big lockers for each guest. Each room has its bathroom:The shower is separated from the toilet in two separated rooms, which is great. I found water was not so hot as I expected, but it was not cold either. WiFi is free and works very well in here. There is a bar in the ground floor with nice music and vibes: people having a drink, playing giant Jenga and having fun. The kitchen is pretty big with room for everybody to cook and save their food. I would definitely come back
n.
Wonderful hostel in a great location with outstanding staff. The rooms are fairly spacious (although sometimes lockers get in the way of the doors) and very clean. The breakfast is quality with panini makers. There are plenty of nice spots to get some work done or just hang out and the environment gives off good vibes - highly recommend!
S. E.
We had one room with three sets of bunk beds and our own bathroom with a great shower. This worked well for our family of six. They had a breakfast you could purchase down stairs and in the evening it was a bar with lots activities to participate in. It was about 10 minute walk to the the Tower Bridge and subway station.
C. L.
The facilities are pretty top notch for a hostel. We had a great time meeting people down in the bar. What brought my review down a few stars is that we arrived at the hostel just after 1, and we were told check in wasn’t until 2. Fair enough. We had just arrived from Canada and we wanted to relax a little bit and shower, so we lounged in the lobby for... well over an hour. After 2 we kept checking in to see if our room was available, and we were being told they would let us know. FINALLY after 3pm my boyfriend went back to the desk to inquire about our room and we FINALLY got a key. We were sitting right beside the desk - if we didn’t keep asking, would anyone have told us a room was ready? So the service at check in was pretty disappointing as our first experience in London.
Also, there is only one mirror in a 4 bed shared room, so if someone is in the shower there is no where to get ready.
Other than that, it was a fine stay.

I stayed at the Wombat in London in August of 2018. F66, solo traveler. This is without a doubt the best hostel I've encountered. It's convenient to everything. The facility, although an old building, has obviously recently been renovated and the rooms are beautiful with waxed hardwood floors, freshly painted walls and all the necessities. With the guest kitchen, the games area and bar downstairs, laundry on site, it lacks for nothing!
S. X.
One of the best hostels in London located very close to the sights and more importantly the London Underground. Tower Bridge and Tower of London are right on your doorstep.
Stayed in a 6 bed mixed, loved (!!) the fact that bathrooms and toilet are ensuite and separate. There's also a communal sink.
Beds are comfortable enough and lockers are in room and were rolled into the rate. They open with your door keycard and can hold standard carry-on luggage easily.
The bar and kitchen area I cannot stress enough are fantastic. The bars a great place to socialize and meet people or just chill. Most days have an event to further socializing.
There's also a full kitchen if you want to cook and an optional breakfast buffet you can opt into. If I'm ever in London I'll definitely be back!
A. S. R.
Awesome! Best hostel to stay in for a few nights and meet people in the very spacious underground bar/kitchen area. You can play beer-pong, table tennis or watch tv. Rooms are nice too. All beds come with an electronic key for lockers.
Great location too for London! 👍👍👍
R. K.
Great service, clean rooms, and nice staff.
A. R.
The rooms and bathroom were very clean which is a must to me, perfect. The staff were friendly. There was a guy I didnt understand a word out of what he was saying but he seemed nice. Reception area was great and location is fab, only about 10min walk from tower bridge. And for a reasonable price.Thank u
T. J.
friendly and helpful staff. stayed in the 6 person coed room. no issues and fairly clean inside. locks are provided and the magnetic card system is convenient. the bar is a great place to meet people. I would come back.

Good location and friendly staff. The bar is also very nice and cheap and the perfect place to meet people if you are travelling alone. I had a single room for 2 people and we paid 50£ each per night so I'd expect to have at least shower gel in the room. Rather than that it was clean and nice. Recommended.

Comfortable & clean - we spent 3 nights in a private room. It’s quieter in Tower Hamlets but still feels accessible to many big as well as offbeat destinations. Easy to get to from Heathrow. We found the staff helpful. Had a economic breakfast one morning with the hostel which was okay, served its purpose! We would likely stay again.

Great place to stay. Location and employees are great. The hostel offers great amenities like good WiFi, a bar open until 2am, and free towels. The beds were clean and comfortable and the showers were in beautiful condition.

I absolutely loved staying here. The facilities being clean and up to date is really important to me, and they were. There was never any shortage of space in the kitchen or bar area to relax. This is the perfect place to make new friends. I could have come to the city and stayed at this hostel the whole time, that's how much I loved it. The laundry facilities are perfect, kind of expensive, but such a great thing for a hostel to have. This was the only area that was lacking. An extra washing machine or two would be very useful to future guests.
I only gave a 3 for friendliness of reception due to one rude guy, strangely rude actually. I'm sure you know who he is cus he's definitely not loving his job and not afraid to let guests know about it.

Staff were friendly and happy to help. They offered great advice when exploring the city. The facilities were well maintained and very clean. The lockers in the rooms made everyone feel safe leaving valuables in the dorm and the bed tags made it easy to keep your bed. The wifi worked well and the luggage rooms made it easy to store your bags so you could explore London before your room was ready. It was super useful having a little lamp, usb port and shelf right next to each bed. Great hostel overall; would definitely recommend to others.

Wombat's London location is great, although there's still plenty of room for improvement. The location is less than 10 minutes from the Tower Tube Station and Tower of London. Check in was quick and professional, but lacking in the human touch that often comes with a hostel — perhaps it's too big for that. Additionally, there should be advanced warning of the requirement to leave a copy of photo id in exchange for the key card. Inside the entrance the reception is a relaxed lounge that invites guests to chill and read a book or catch online. Downstairs, the bar area provides another space for relaxing; although service doesn't start until 18:00. They don't serve food beyond chips/crisps and pizza, however there's a well-equipped kitchen for guest use. Breakfast is £4.50, although it's only a 'cold' breakfast: breads, cold cut meats, cheese, condiments for toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit salad, oranges, apples, veggies, and drinks. Rooms were clean and bright, with sturdy wooden bunks, each equipped with a personal power outlet (UK & 1 USB) and light. Toilet and shower facilities were attached to the dorm room. Towels are provided free of charge. Everything was kept suitability clean.

My sister and I stayed here for 2 nights nights in an 8 bed coed dorm room with private bathroom. The hostel had really great and comfy beds (no curtains), a great lounge area, and it was in a great location close to the city and metro. I didn't always feel the safest at night walking, but no issues. The bathroom in our room was always tidy and we never had issues with showers and what not.
I want to give 5 stars, but I have to deduct a star for check-in. I arrived an hour early and was asked to wait an hour - no biggie. After the hour, I was told the room still was not ready yet and I had to wait yet another hour for my key... Not impressed as they have a check-in time for a reason and nothing was offered to compensate for the extra hour spent waiting in their lobby.
N. L.
The rooms are amazingly spacious and while in many hostels you need to bring your own padlocks, they provide lockers which you can use with your keycard. There are plenty of power outlets in the building and every bed has its own (+ a USB-port). The chill area in the lobby is lovely place to hang out, meet new people or simply work or read.
You should, however, bring some earplugs. My room was located right at a busy street and I probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep without them.

Best place to stay in London if you don't want to spend much money. The place looks like a Hotel than a hostel. Secure access with card and locker. Leave your stuff in the room without any worries. Super clean, super tidy, good location. You can have a great breakfast like in a Hotel. Highly recommended.

Except for the gery old and bad matresses it was a great hostel. Excellent staff and well equipped. Could have been a bit cleaner in the rooms, but thats only because I am picky:) . Loved it. Will stay there again

+ Location
+ Value for money
+ Pub
o My specific room
- Shower flooding
All in all a good hostel, with a decent price. Checkout is at 10am and staying longer costs a least £5 more.
I stayed there with my mates for two nights. Our room had a capacity for 5. The bunk bed was good but there were three tunnel-like single beds which I found very strange. Probably not for people who hate knocking their heads when they wake up, or are claustrophobic.
Our room didn't face the main road, so we could not hear any traffic noise.
The shower, although modern and with good water pressure, did not have any curtain so all the water would run out and mess up the whole shower room. Luckily the toilet was in another room. Towels are free and can be taken from the reception.
The hostel has a pub which is also quite good, although most people prefer going out in the evenings.
The location is absolutely fantastic. Just a 10 minute walk from Tower Bridge away, it is very central and underground stations aren't far away. There are also some decent restaurants in the area.
M. B.
More like a hotel than a hostel! Clean and nice looking rooms, terrific common areas and an actual breakfast consisting of other things than white bread and cornflakes! My preferred place to go with classes! They should open in more locations in London!
R. V.
The hostel in itself is nice and clean and in a great location. However, it really needs A/C in the summer. The rooms are simply too hot. If you stay in the winter, early spring or late fall you will be fine but beware of the other times throughout the year. Also, the laundry needs to change as well for a fairly new plac the machines seems old. What puts this above the rest is the hangout spots, bar and ensuite to each room.
D. H.
lovely people, room was clean, pretty well connected via tube (next station 10min march)
The entertainment was nice aswell. Frankie did an excellent job of creating connections between guests and got the whole room fired up during Karaoke
M. C.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are modern, clean and well designed. Our only complaint was the temperature of the room. With only two windows that could only be opened a crack, the room was almost sweltering at times. The room really needed a fan or a air conditioning control to allow comfortable sleep.
E. W.
Really awesome hostel. Rooms were very spacious, bathrooms inside rooms were separated into toilet and shower with plenty of space to get ready, reception was very friendly and the facilities were awesome. Would definitely stay here again.
M. L.
I stayed in the 8 bed dorm and from my experience this had been the cleanest hostel I've been to. There was a toilet, shower, and sink all within the room and the three things were all separated. Three people could use the facilities at one time. The WiFi was fast and worked well in the rooms. The bar/kitchen area downstairs was really nice too; there was almost always someone there which was a great place to meet fellow travelers. I will be flying out from London on my two month Europe trip and I will book this hostel again for my last nights in Europe.
S. B.
Rooms are amazing. I slept in an all female one with 6 beds and it had its own bathroom. Really nice hostel! Best one I stayed at in London. The staff were okay though not as exceptional as everything else.
K. T.
I stayed here for 4 nights. Great experience. Very clean and perfectly located, 5 min walk from the Tower Bridge and the London Tower, which i think are structurally the most magnificent sights in London. The bathroom and the toilet in the room are comparable to a hotel. The social spaces are pretty cool. A nice bar. Lot of space around the reception area to just lounge and do your thing on a laptop or without. I began all my mornings at Lemans Sandwich bar, 3 min walk away, a place run by super friendly people who make wonderful tea and scrambled eggs. I highly recommend Wombats for your travel. Enjoy!
S. L.
Nice hostel with good facilities (bar, kitchen, etc) rooms are nicely rennovated.BUT I am in room 115 and I can't open the windows due to noise from heating/fans for the building!!! The furniture vibrate slightly from that fan system that runs all night- no joke! Ask for another room!
P. R. O.
Lifesaver.
At our arrival the place where we were supposed to stay was closed and we stayed here by chance.
The attention in the front desk and in the bar is very friendly making you feel like home even that it's a hostel and the breakfast buffet it's very well organized.
We had our flight canceled due to the weather and we stayed to additional nights without considering other options
J. M. H.
Friendly hostel with nice sized rooms. I liked that the lockers were activated by the room key card. I wasn't a big fan of turning over my ID to get a bed tag and room key, but I understand it's part of their loss prevention efforts. The bar is a central gathering place at night, and you get one free drink, and the happy hour deals are relatively good for London. Front desk staff was helpful, but it seems as if they get overwhelmed as people come in. The need for keycard access to go into and out of various stairwells seemed like overkill, but I understand the reasoning. It's not the best area for going out or nightlife, but you are close to Tower of London and London Bridge to get photos there.
R. M.
It was nice. Clean overall, but I can't give it perfect scores as my buddy spotted bedbugs on his bunk. That being said, they immediately changed us to a new room so they could clean it out and gave us tokens for laundry (and some drink tickets for the inconvenience). They took it very seriously, and if you've traveled much you understand it happens sometimes.
A. A.
Definitely an excellent hostel. Stayed in a 6 bed. Rooms are super cleaannn. Bathrooms are also very clean. Close to transport links.the bar has a good vibe. It is very safe and secure with keycards
D. Z.
If you want to stay at a cool and fun hostel in London. Then you have two options... St Christopher’s (which is cheaper) and Wombat’s (which is more clean and high end). Both places are huge and tend to attract groups of schools during the summer season. The place is very clean comfortable. On Tuesday’s they do free pasta. The only downside with big places that attract group is that groups stay in groups and don’t socialize with others.
D. N.
Decent hostel, but could be cleaner for the price per night. During the summer some of the rooms get exceedingly hot with zero air circulation despite open windows. I spent two nights barely sleeping - just a puddle of humidity and sweat.
J. W.
I liked this hostel a lot. I wish the kitchen got an upgrade though. One more fridge and better maintenance on the stoves would be nice. When I was visiting half of the stove tops and ovens didn't work making it quite difficult to cook with 10+ other people in the kitchen trying to do the same.
I also wish they had a cheaper breakfast option of "Just coffee". In the morning it would have been great to have some coffee before leaving for the day but you had to pay 4.5 pounds to get a breakfast ticket to get anything from the breakfast kitchen area.
B. W.
This is a really nice hostel in a great area in the city of London. The rooms are a nice size and updated. Each bed has it's own light, shelf and outlet station. Towels are provided and the the beds are very comfortable. Each person gets their own large locker to store your stuff in which alleviates any stress about leaving valuables unattended. If you forget anything, it's likely that they'll have it available for you to borrow which helps when traveling light. One thing I wish I had known prior is that mirrors are limited. If possible, bring your own for getting ready!
N. S.
Stayed here for 5 days in group in one room, it was alright but there were issues. The room was so uncomfortably warm, we turned the thermostat all the way off and had the windows open all day and it was still far to warm. Had to close the windows and night to block out the noise to try and sleep. It advertises itself as 'the cleanest hostel in the world'. It isn't, the pilows, duvet and mattress were all stained as well as the sheets. We paid for the later check out till 1pm but the staff didn't bother to program that into the cards (or they just don't know how) and they all stopped working at 10am meaning after breakfast none of us could get back into the room or our lockers to get our suitcase. The whole hassle of leaving a piece of ID just to get your key card is stupid, no where else does this. You do have the option to pay an extra £5 deposit for them to photocopy it so you can have it back. If not then you have to hand in your key card everytime you leave to get your ID back, and the reverse when you get back for the night.
M. D. S.
Great vibes! I have been to London Wombats twice now and it is the best hostel I have stayed at. Closer to public transport, friendly staff and pretty cool basement bar!
N. D.
Beautiful room, upgraded, cozy, lockers with key. Very cool bar downstairs. The service is fabulous. Very secure.
S. N.
Very good and modern hostel. It isn't located in the center but a 5 minutes walk away from the subway and it's easy to get to the trendy Shoreditch area from here. The large rooms are amazing! The beds are not the most comfortable ones but there are a bathroom with a very good shower and a separate toilet in the room. The free lockers are all secured with a key card and it's always clean. The price is totally fair, the staff was very friendly and the free WiFi was fast too.
My recommendation: check out the bar downstairs, it's huge!
D. D.
Lots of fun, the kitchen area was great to make something yummy and the hostel is located within a short walking distance of a local Sainsbury's - where you can buy groceries or anything you need/forgot to pack. The atmosphere was realxed and welcoming, the staff was mostly enthusiastic and willing to help. The toilets are only ventilated when the lights are on, which was not usual from where we live. It's a great place for the relatively cheap price.
M. S.
Cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in, and has a ton of amenities! 24-hour front desk staff are very helpful, and the whole environment is very cozy. I attached a photo of the locker so people can see how big they are. Thanks!
E. L.
Great hostel!
Only complain: our room was very hot, even in the night and we couldn't open the window more than a centimeter! Otherwise, it must be a perfect hostel when it's less than 30°C outside!
S. N.
This was the nicest place I stayed in during my UK trip. I was in a very spacious 6-bed room with 1 bathroom, 1 toilet and also a sink. The place is completely key card access and you get a free drink during check-in. Breakfast was cereal, sandwich spread, coffee and tea. The only downside is that it's in a deserted commercial area however it's only a 7 min walk to Aldgate East station.
M. B.
Clean, kind of hospital feeling hostel. Staff are friendly enough and willing to help. Bed was awful and the location isn’t the best if you plan on walking home at night. For the price, better off staying at a St Christopher’s.
C. G.
Great time at Wombats on my quick overnight trip! Was able to store my luggage before check-in and see the city a bit. Rooms were clean, great showers, loved the mini light and USB plug at each bunk. Felt very secure that every door required key access. The bar in the basement is awesome! Wish I got to go there longer. Only complaint is that the hostel is a little far from all the places I wanted to see... ended up taking four ubers in one day to and from Covent Garden area (plan for London traffic to take forever!).
Overall, good stay- would look for their properties again.
S. C.
really cool building, clean, friendly staff, great bar. Honestly I was super happy about my first hostel experience! I would 10/10 recommend to anyone traveling to london and needs an affordable place to sleep. The rooms were also super comfy, and clean!
V. W.
Simply amazing! Offers everything you could ask for. Cheap breakfast, nice bar, cozy joint areas to hang out, very good security standard for rooms/lockers. Late check-out after a party etc. Rooms are very clean :))
C. G.
Mostly clean except for dirty qtips in our room when we arrived. Breakfast a bit overpriced for what you get. No outlets in the washroom to use hair tools. Great location, great bar.
A. V.
Great facilities, location is like 7 minutes from a train station
T. C.
First time we've ever stayed at a hostel - check in/out was seamless, our room was clean but there was no hand soap in the bathroom and the bed wasn't the most comfortable. One plus is that its pretty close to the Famous Tower Bridge. Decent for the price you pay but we likely wouldn't stay here again.
A. C.
I had a great experience here, booked in 5 nights, decided on a whim to to to Barcelona, halfway through my stay, I gave then 24 hours notice full refund. Easy to deal with.
Also rooms are clean, nice, nothing spectacular but no issues either. And convenient location, 10 min walk to the tube.
J. M.
Located central near Tower Bridge and Aldgate. Safe and quiet neighborhood.
Very clean! A hostel where you don’t get grossed out but feel comfortable. The rooms have their own modern bathroom and shower. Beds look and feel new. Staff friendly. Hostel offers a breakfast buffet for 4,50£. They have free WiFi that actually works well, free clean towels, free huge lockers that work with your key card and also a bar.
The prices vary but you won’t get a better hostel for that money.
Really enjoyed my stay.
The photos were taken in the mixed dorm room
K. N.
Another pleasant stay at wombats hostel, I always stay here for Hyper Japan festival as the location is very near to the venue. The bar is very lively and you receive a free drink token on arrival which is very courteous. The room is very clean and the bed is comfortable, it also has a locker facilities in the room to store your belongings. Overall a good budget stay.
S. K.
It is more three and a half. The Hostel in total is nice. Breakfast was ok and the location is good. It's just 5 mins to the next tube station. The people who work there were acceptable and the bedding was a bit dirty. But the rooms are very modern and clean.
T. R.
Great Hostel! I would definitely stay again. Although maybe get my own room next time. Loved the vaulted ceiling bar in the basement, but would love to see a larger range of craft beers.
h.
Good location near to tube stations. You can also walk to Liverpool Street station for more transport options. Lovely staff, good large communal spaces, clean rooms. Really appreciated the ensuite in my room and charging stations at the beds. Only downside is the noise from outside can be quite loud
Π. Α.
The absolute best hostel in London! I stayed here for almost a month while I waited to move into my new flat and it was such a lovely experience. Wombat's City Hostel has the sweetest staff, the cleanest facilities, and is centrally located to all of London's biggest attractions. Go to one of Wombat's City Hostel daily/nightly scheduled events, or simply ask one of the employees for suggestions of things to do in the area. And if you just need a break from exploring, relax back at the hostel at the bar downstairs or in a cozy bunk upstairs. Whatever you need in your travels, Wombat's City Hostel has you covered.
M. C.
Friendly staff, 8 minute walk to closest train station, great rooms with ensuites. Stayed in a 6 dorm the first few nights, then moved onto a 8 dorms for the last few. I could easily recommend both. For the continental breakfast you’ll need to purchase a ticket from the front counter, the selection of food & beverages is good & convenient.
R. A.
Place is great, rooms are big, lockers are super big as well, there’s light, usb and charger in each bed and the shower is simply amazing. Only warning: if they put you on the 8th floor ask them to change you. The squeakiest beds in the world are here. I was on the first floor for a few days and everything was perfect there. But if I had to stay all days on the 8th I’d be going insane.
M. B.
Good facilities, nice and clean. Free drink at the bar when you check in. Good location close to a tube station. The only issue I had is that there isn't AC and the windows barely open so it can get really hot on the upper floors.
D. W.
Amazing location, kind and helpful staff, fun guests. The rooms are spacious and clean, but also somewhat noisy. The beds are worn-down. The showers are worth mentioning seperately as they are absolutely stunning.
N. S.
Wombats was an awesome hostel, fantastic vibe, really social and the bar was great. I loved that there was an ensuite in the room (rather than a shared one for the floor) and we were able to hire out a hair dryer which was great. The only negative was that it happened to be unusually warm weather during our stay and the room was unbearably hot with no fan or air con, making it uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. Other than that it was a great experience and we would definitely stay again!
A. S.
Very clean hostel with spacious rooms. Check in and out was a breeze and the storage room was great as we headed out to explore after checking out. Location was great as it was less than a 10 min walk to Aldgate East station and an easy walk to many restaurants, markets and attractions.
A. W.
Great facility with unique environment. Offered free drinks coupons in their underground bar where you can meet with the locals for beer pong, ping pong, jenga, and other games or just kick it. Facilities were clean and secure, and the pricing was fair. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling alone or in a group!
P. T.
Good location less than 10 minutes from the Tower and the Tube. Nice Indian restaurant down the street. Free towels and sheets, but no soap and shampoo. Awesome bar area. Pretty clean room.
U. #.
Great place to stay on a budget! Room, shower and toilet was clean. front desk staff were friendly and helpful. If you book a room remember to bring I.D. Ideally fill out the online registration profile for a quicker and smoother check-in later.
T.
Excellent hostel. I did experience a pretty unfriendly check in. Australian guy with long hair, beard and a face piercing. He seemed like he was too cool for school and couldn't be assed. Worst staff member I've encountered out of all my travels...and that's saying something. Otherwise, I would have given this hostel 5 stars. Everyone else was nice.
H. P.
Super cool hostel for a short stay. Towels and sheets are available, Wifi also.
Each bed has a small light and a USB charger. Lockers for every guest are available inside the rooms, they work with the the card that opens the door.
If you go with friends or two couples there are rooms with two bunk beds with bathroom ensuite that suit perfect.
The location is great, subway nearby or you can take a walk (short) to Shoreditch or a walk (long) to the central area.
Very correct prices for everything they offer. Also, there is a free baggage storage service to keep the bags before check in or after check out.
M. B.
Good experience with Wombats. I didn't want to pay too much for one night in London so this was a very good alternative. Price/quality ratio is high. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was basic, but fresh and tasted well, it's worth the 4 or 5 pounds.Towels were included, which was good for me as I forgot one to bring.
Location is overall very good (next tube station is a 10 minute walk and Tower Bridge about 15 min), but the neighboorhood is a bit trashy maybe.
Cleanliness is very good (at least in the rooms) and I liked the fact that there is a private and big enough locker in the room.
M.
Stayed for 1 night only. Price was reasonable and the vibe was good. Personell was very friendly! Had a 4-bed dorm and it was good quality with power outlets and very secure locker. The room was very hot at night though even though it was October. Also theres was a lot of construction noise which woke me and my dorm mates up a bunch of times during the night. But I reckon this wouldnt be a problem at all times. All in all, decent hostel, would recommend!
R. A.
This place was great. Our room was a little warm but we turned off the heaters and opened the windows and that did the trick. It has a nice atmosphere and everyone here is really nice. The bar also has very decent prices.
R. S.
Nice place to stay. Might be a little over priced. Adequately spacious rooms. Free welcome drink is not full size, it’s the half size glass. But the h bad use a great place to sit and listen to music and chat or work on the laptop. Overall a great experience !
J. M.
Super clean. Nice location. Lockers can fit a lot of stuff. Felt very safe. Roommates were great and friendly. Bar is downstairs. Beer pong table. Foos ball. Laundry on site. Ping pong. American pool. Kitchen with fridges. Breakfast is available for a cost. Shower towels are provided.
D. W.
Great hostel! Modern clean room with lockers, and has a small shelf with power outlets above each bed. Has breakfast available and a bar downstairs too.
G. B. S.
One of the best hostels that I’ve been. Very Nice atmosphere, good rooms, organized, new, clean and safe. Don’t Loose the Breakfast all u eat in very good price.
G. C.
Lovely hostel with a willing staff! They have a nice bedroom, a good and cheap breakfast and a cool pub downstairs. Pretty sure I'm coming back in the next time that I come to London.
G. S.
Very nice experience. Clean, safe and decently priced. The bar in the basement is fun to hang out at and meet people from all over who are staying at the hostel. Would stay here again. First class hostel.
M. P.
Very good hostel, close enough to the center, spotless clean and with a friendly staff, I recommend it! Although I didn't have access to the kitchen / there was no kitchen.
B. H.
Superior hostel with a great environment. Clean, modern and efficient staff. The kitchen is well stocked and plenty of seating areas with electrical outlets.
Location is great and a close walk to many of the must see areas of town.
A. B.
Wombat hostel was great. Stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm. Lockers in room are great. Good size to fit large backpacks in. Easy to find. Clean and tidy, good facilities and well trained staff who were helpful.
S. G.
Great new facilities, comfortable beds, outlets at each bed, and en suite bathrooms make for a superb experience. The keyless lockers for each bed tied to the room key are a nice addition. The underground bar and lounge had a fun vibrant atmosphere and good prices on drinks.
W. W.
The Location ist very cool. The price value ist quite good for London. The rooms are great for a Hostel. We had little bit problem to find it. But a reason cute be my navigations skills.
D.
Pros
1. Reception staff helpful and friendly
2. Rooms are renovated- nice bathrooms
3. Free pasta
4. The bar music was AWESOME!! Whoever is the DJ, good job!!!!
5. The seating area downstairs is good.
6. Wifi was pretty good strength at most times. But it does make you login every day.
7. Location is good, 10minute walk to tower hill station. Also very close to tower bridge.
8. Towels were provided
9. Full kitchen
Cons:
1. CLEANERS- Quality of the floor cleaning... floor wasn’t swept or mopped properly.. in the rooms and hallways. There was a tumbleweed of hair in my hallway for 3 days, in the centre of the hall. If I walked around in socks in my room I would get a bunch of hair stuck to the bottom of them. If I walked around with no shoes (eg coming out of the shower) my feet would get dirty very quickly.
2. CLEANERS- The soap dispenser wasn’t refilled or checked. I noticed it 3 days ago, I left it thinking the next day cleaned would check it, nope. The next day I waited to see if it would be refilled, but no it wasn’t. So today I told reception staff. This is the fourth day now with no handsoap. So the cleaners didn’t check 3 days in a row. Hopefully I have handsoap tomorrow in my rooms.
3. LACK OF GLASSES- No glasses or mugs in the kitchen a lot of the time.
4. BROKEN SERVICES- One of the two lifts was out of service the whole week and so was the drinks vending machine.
5. NOISE- The street noise! I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you are a light sleeper. (If you are maybe ask for a room on the back side of the building). The noise from the street is VERY loud. A train goes by every 5 minutes and make around 30seconds worth of noise each time. The street is very busy and you can hear every motorbike. During the day, construction is going on across the road with drilling. So if you want to chill in your room and have a nap you have to close the windows which makes the room very hot quickly. Same as of a night.
6. SEATING- Although the seating was nice downstairs, the cushions desperately need to be replaced. They have had too many drinks spilled on them and they are kind of gross. The seating in the dining room and pub area is noisy as the chairs are steel. Every time someone moves a chair there is a large screeching sound.
7. CLEANING STAFF- One afternoon when I was making my late lunch in the kitchen, 3 of the female cleaners were playing music obnoxiously loud while having an extremely loud conversation at a table. Really unpleasant to see staff acting selfishly and so unaware of others when there were guests using the kitchen.
8. No mirror near room PowerPoint! The bathroom PowerPoints are for shavers only so couldn’t use a blowdryer or straightener in front of a mirror. Install a mirror near the room power point please.
9. No clean tea towels in the kitchen. There were two that were so dirty. You wouldn’t want to use it to dry your hands (even though it was rarely dry). So gross.
10. No full length mirror in a girls dorm
In conclusion, I don’t understand how this place has so many 9+ reviews.. the cleaning staff affected my experience here.
One of my recommendations for guests would be. They make great coffee and have really nice croissants, muffins etc. if you walk out of the hostel, turn left, take about 50 steps, it’s on the left.

I LOVE this chain of hostels. The are clean, great wifi everywhere, huge kitchens to prepare food or you can get cheap drinks and food from the bar, free sheets and towels, good locations, wonderful staff, free washing powder and great rooms to chill. Wombats truly thinks of everything. They even have PowerPoints and lamps at each bedside. They also have things at the desk for check out like hairdryer, adapters, luggage scales and anything you might need. And It is VERY clean (and I have high standards). The ONLY issue I had was the laundry. I had to dry my clothes 3 times and they were still damp. I changed dryers and cleaned the lint traps. The dryer was only 1/4 full but still couldn't dry the clothes. I have used laundry at every wombats I have stayed at and have never had any issues. Typically the laundry service had been great. This would not have been a big deal except that I needed to check out that afternoon. I put my clothes in the dryer first at 9:30 am and by 2 pm, they were still damp.
Y. M.
Best hostel I've stayed in. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are big, spacious and clean. The bathrooms are modern and big. Central location, not far from tube stations, and shops and eateries available close by. Would definitely stay again!
J. S.
Has a cool bar in the lower floor for hostel guests.
Nice place to stay for your visit in London.
Clean rooms with own bathroom. Friendly staff
T. B.
One night stay in a mixed dorm. First time travelling on my own. Had to get a room mate to show me how to work the lockers. Simple once you know how. Shower was brilliant but it was 6am so made it quick. Basement area is amazing

I stayed here with a friend back in November. I couldn’t have asked for a better first hostel experience. The staff was delightful each time we had a question or need, and even helped find a place to get something printed one day when their printer wasn’t working. The best thing I want to say about them is that they have a policy that they can only book you for seven nights, but we needed to stay eight. It was going to be very inconvenient for us to find a new place to stay for just one night, but a quick email to the staff and the manager approved us for an 8th night! I get policies like this, especially for a hoppin place like Wombats, woh a known name, in a busy city. Every night it was full of people, and it was generous for them to allow us to stay another night. There are certainly some dodgy areas around it - just be smart when/where you go, but I never felt unsafe in the hostel and I never worried about my possessions due to Wombats outstanding keycard security. I certainly will be staying here again, and I know my friend is staying here in May. It was a great value for a great stay in London.
Another thing of note - I’m not sure if it is intentional, but I believe I remember reading in their website that they do do this intentionally. 5/8 nights we stayed we were placed with other Americans, which was nice because we were able to communicate and make some connections. The other two nights were two nice guys from South America, who were able to talk to each other and a little with us. It was nice being able to be in a room with others who we were able to communicate with, as being in a living space with total strangers is intimidating enough, but when you can’t communicate makes it harder. I really appreciated this aspect, even if it wasn’t intentional.
Enjoy your stay here! It’s a great place!

An amazing hostel. Rooms are clean, staff is helpful, and the downstairs multi purpose room is great. It combines breakfast area, pool table, foosball, bar, and lounge area seamlessly together.
J. C.
Visited a friend staying their the other night and had a drink in the bar. Really nice bar; very respectable prices, nice staff, lots of space with some sofas, some tables, and a cushion area even. It's also got pool and table football. Really very cool. I don't think the bar is open to just anyone which is a shame because I'd love to return.
F. L.
Cool hostel in terms of facilities but too much heating in the room lots of condensation. Also no recycling bins in the kitchen nor the rooms and toilets and showers quite noisy. Not very environmental friendly hostel and service was average.
M. T. V.
It is a really nice hostel with great staff, rooms with outlets and USB ports in each bed and even a bar. The only problem was that there was something wrong with the fire alarm when I was staying there, so that it went off sometimes, even in the middle of the night. If they fixed that, I would definitely recommend it.
N. V.
The hostel is pretty great actually. Beds are comfortable, it's ok quiet, I had really good sleep here. It's just the reception staff on my night of check in that were terrible and arrogant. They want you to leave your passport as a deposit for a key card (a key card.....a piece of plasic worth nothing outside that hostel in return for a passport). Anyway, I couldn't do it, also because I needed my passport. And the girl made a massive, massive fuss over it. When it turned out in the end I could also leave a copy of my passport and a £5 deposit. Don't know why that was such a problem to begin with. But she was very rude about it.
Breakfast is a bit limited and it is a 10 minute walk to the tube station and other than the staff this is a really nice place.
R. C.
Extremely clean. Great rooms, kitchen, breakfast service and bar. Accessibility is great. Very nice crowd. Best hostel I've stayed at.
V. L.
Very social hostel. Not for people who want complete privacy. There are no curtains on the bed. Very reasonable breakfast. Cool underground hangout bar. If you ask up front they have shampoo.
A. R.
Fantastic location, clean and contemporary private rooms. Only slight complaint is that there is only one electric socket in the room. Otherwise a comfortable stay in London, will probably stay here again.
蓝.
Staying here for two nights. The rooms are nice and clean and the downstairs bar area is nice in the morning and afternoon time! The area around the hostel is safe and it is very easy to get to the tube from here!
R. W.
Stayed for a week up to Easter. Nice enough location, very clean. The bar was lively every night and the drinks were a fair price. I didn't end up using it but there is also a fully equipped kitchen with hob, cooker, microwave and other appliances and dishes/cutlery. There were however, a few complaints.
- Lockers were assigned but beds were not. Made for a bit of confusion on my first night.
- Wifi was a bit dodgy in my dorm but fine enough in common areas. I was in the basement so you might have better luck upstairs.
- The breakfast was a little underwhelming for its price - toast, ceral, cold cut meat and cheese. Stuff like that.
All in all I had a great time there and would recommend it to anyone.
L. K.
Rooms get cleaned daily (at least the bathroom, toilet and floor), friendly and helpful staff, great location, albeit a bit pricey.
Bar downstairs from 6PM-2AM, and a kitchen too where you can store and make your own food.
Free WiFi, and some laptops you can use for free in their reception area.
J. K.
Nicely located in general and has easy access to the next Tube Station(Tower Hill). Ideal for a city trip. Rooms are well equiped(Electronic lockers, USB ports) and have their own bathroom. Furthermore, they get cleaned daily and even towels get provided by the hostel for free. Staff is frienfly and attentive. Breakfast can be bought for 5pounds, which was good with a decent variety of different foods - everyone will find sth for sure. Overall it was a great stay and would/will defenitely come back!
J. T.
Great budget accomodation in a lovely Hostel, close to Tower Bridge and other attractions. Huge range of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The beds all have a personal light and charging point and all come with a personal locker for storage of belongings.
B. G.
It really is a case of 'how the mighty fall' at this hostel.
This still has some great things, like the bar, staff and reception.
But the creaky bed in the larger 8+ bed dorms need to be replaced. The beds seem to be better in the smaller dorms.
T. K.
Nice hostel with great lobby and bar. The room was nice but the bedding and pillow could be improved. I didn't receive all of my bedding and when I got replacements from the desk they were scratchy.
N. M. (.
Very helpful very trendy nice place organized tidy thank you very much for your help
H. H.
Excellent place to stay in London. Cheach but clean and welcoming. Easy to stay just a night or the whole month! Near the docks on Thames. Good walk to the Tower Bridge (15 min.) from it.
Á.
The place had a very good rating in Hostelworld, and it was like I expected. The building is all refurbished and they have all you want from a hostel - free wifi, linen, towels, clean and quiet bedrooms and a bar. The womBar was not so crowded an the people looked tired, but hey - there's a bar downstairs your bedroom, that could never be a bad thing. It's close to bus and Underground stations, would stay there again.
O. M.
This is my 3rd wombats, I've been to the one in Vienna and in Budapest. I highly recommend all the wombats. Clean, modern, and spacious rooms and bathrooms. Good lounge areas and terraces. All the bars have been great as well..! Don't have anything bad to say. I just wish the had one in every major city and capital, it will make my stays more peaceful knowing what I'm getting myself into in the future..!!
y. k.
Awesome hotel. Good staff. All the facilities you're looking for, you'll find here. Bonus part is the 5£ Breakfast!. It's the best breakfast I had in London city.
P. F.
+ very nice & friendly atmosphere
+ perfect for young people
+ good quality of rooms, service and food for cheap money
+ getting together with other travellers —> cultural exchange is incredible
- no sheets in the bathrooms provided
- small beds
A. M.
Great hostel. Very clean and modern, and all the amenities you might need. Location is good, about 5-10 minutes from the tube. Could be a lot worse. Overall very nice.
N.
It is a cool hostel. The workers there are very friendly and will help you if you have problems. I just can recommend the hostel. One of the best hostels i have ever been.
L. F.
Stayed at wombats multiple times, always fast friendly service. Comfortable beds and secure lockers with key card entry which doubles as your locker key. Fantastic central location only 5 minutes walk from Tower Bridge and Tower Hill tube stop.
A. L.
Shared Kitchen, make sure you clean your own messes. Outdoor seating. Closes at 10 though. 6 bed dorm,
My bed matress has a concave area where the butt goes. To Wombats. This matress is old. I flipped it to see if that helps. Didnt. Horrible sleep. Invest in newer matresses. You can afford it.
Its a party hostel so bar on site. Close to metro stations and east to make friends. I am booked 4 nights here. I've stayed at hostels better than this for cheaper in more amazing locales like Venice Italy. Amsterdam vondel park ect. I had over 35 days in Europe in 9 cities. I will next time avoid "party hostels" the quality just isnt here. Small family run boutique hostels are better. Imo.
A. C.
My stay there was great! I got a great deal online. It's very well located, if you are moving in the subway you will need to walk a few blocks, if you are coming from any of the airports with big suitcases I suggest you get to one station and then take a cab or an uber, like I said the nearest metro station is not that close. There is a food store just a block away. The rooms are modern and clean with a great view to the London skyline. The recepcionists are very kind and they will answer any doubt and be willing to help. The kitchen is big, there is a bar. If you are traveling solo, this is the place.
S. B.
It's such a cute place, has a nice courtyard with hammocks and picnik tables, good location near tower bridge. The dorm rooms have their own sink, shower, and toilet that you share with bunk mates, all the staff were helpful and nice
M. D.
A great hostel located near many major attractions including Tower Bridge. With easy access to mass transit anything else is just a short ride away. The hostel itself meets the requirements, offering a bed with clean sheets with a shower and bathroom, each separated. Very secure and warming staff that are only willing to help. Would highly recommend this any Wombats location based on what I experienced here. With the additions of free wifi and a cheap option for breakfast there's not much more I could ask for. Five stars!
A. E.
Excellent service, rooms are clean and simple. The bar is excellent and the breakfast service is exactly what you expect. Staff were especially friendly and helped with questions about the local area.
L. D.
Great place! They have lockers, towels, a kitchen, and laundry. There's a bar in the basement that's fun to chill in at night. Staff is super nice and helpful. No complaints.
O.
The atmosphere is one of the best if not the best I have ever experienced from a hostel. Plus they are cleanly and mindful or any disturbances. Worth every penny!
J. H.
Room at the basement was awful.
It stinked and i couldnt imagine how one could sleep there. They gave me other room when i mentioned it, and it was better then the basement one but didnt like the room much. So i payed more money and upgraded to 5 bed room and it was nice.
I would recommend if u wanna sleep here go for 5 bed room.

Fabulous hostel! Great staff. Particularly the afformentioned Aussie guy with long long hair and a nose piercing. Went the extra mile and made a first time traveller feel rite at home! Stay here, it’s ace.
A. P.
Probably the best hostel in London. Good location, clean rooms and new bathrooms. Every bed has a USB socket to charge phones without needing an adapter.
Stayed here 4 times already and is always the place I am staying at when visiting London.
M. L.
Great staff, but prices more then doubled from night to night. I'm really disappointed about it.
I wanted to stay there again, but cant afford 37 for a bed in a dorm. (When I paid 16 last time) super sad about i
A. S.
Hostel is very organized and clean. All facilities are great. It is a very nice place to hang out and have a drink. The kitchen seemed a little messy, not my favorite part....
The room was great with a lot of space, very clean and organized (always a nice idea to separate the shower from the toilete when u share the room w/ 6 people). As always, having "female only" rooms for women is very convenient. Lockers could be a bit bigger (but dont worry that there is a lot space in the room for everybody´s luggage and more....).
It is not the best location, but the trade off is great given the very comfy facilities the hostel provides (we can´t have it all for 30 pounds in London!!). It is very close to the tower of london/tower bridge, so that´s lots to do around it, but a bit far from other attractions (but in London subway can get u anywhere!!).
It is the second best hostel I´ve stayed in UK (the first is The Code in Edinburgh).
One request: why not providing a hairdryer in the female only rooms???
The one very annoying negative: they ask me to leave an ID in exchange for the room key. I resisted a lot to that so they ended up asking for a 5 pounds deposit and a copy of my passport (which they returned at check out). At least they gave me a solution but asking for holding IDs is not nice in such a messy and untrustworthy crazy world that we live!! Change that policy pleaaassseee!
y. e.
Very impressed with this place. Staff all friendly and willing to help, hostel is clean everywhere you go, and well equipped with everything you I'll need. Good lockers that only you can open, safe locks with key card.
A. P.
Very large, well-maintained place. Rooms are nice and comfortable (although lack AC in summer), Wi-Fi is solid, and it's very affordable. Location is excellent, within easy walking distance of Tower Bridge. The best part is undoubtedly the basement bar, where it's a great place to socialise with fellow travellers.
F. S.
Perfect location, close to Aldgate and Tower Hill stations. Really good vibes, starting from the welcome drink at the check in (something you don't expect from a hostel) that you can enjoy at the bar on the basement with lots of people. Safety more than ok, with entrance guaranteed by your card. The dimension of the rooms and the ensuite bathrooms are the plus together with cleanliness. Definitely chose it again in the future!
S. S.
A really nice place with friendly staff. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It's near the metro station and, if you don't want to eat in their bar, there are amazing restaurants and takeaway places.
E. D.
Basic hostel, bar and restaurant was closed even though places can open again, this was a bit of a let down for the group. Helpful staff, would visit again
h.
It looks very lovely place near the central London
B. E.
Very nice hostel, with free lockers, towels, and sheets. The location is not far from London City. Also breakfast is available for a fee. Overall, very good.
K. Č.
Great hostel, lovely and helpful workers and has everything you need. Also great location for the price. Would come back again or check other locations.
V.
I actually feel bad for giving 5 Stars because now more people are attracted to this great hostel. (Will I get a room next time dunno)
Anyway if you want a great hostel for a bargain of a price: Do.Come.Here.
Also great Connection to the financial district and the Gherkin, Shard etc.
B. M.
Clean, nice hostel. Bar downstairs is awesome. Great kitchen and laundry facilities as well. Location can't be beat. Definitely recommend.
B. S.
Good:
- clean, modern facilities
- friendly, helpful staff
- cosy bar with reasonable rates (bring cash, they charge extra for card payments)
- laundry facilities (6£/load wash&dry)
Improvable:
- very basic breakfast, no eggs, sausages, yoghurt, marmite. For those 5£ you can get a better deal down the road
- shower head mounted in ceiling
- no outlet for hair dryer in bathroom
M. O. S.
Really good hostel. Nice staff. Very clean and practical rooms. Reasonable prices at the bar. Breakfast highly recommended for 4'5£.
A. G.
The place is pretty good and the vibe is great. Clean rooms and bathrooms. The staff could be nicer though, specially in the bar. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone
K. M.
Clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great location, awesome atmosphere. If there is a wombats where you are going, stay there every time! The bathroom in the room was nicer than the one in my house!
P. C.
I had an overall positive experience at Wombat's City Hostel. This place is perfect for a London city break. Excellent location, a stone's throw from the Tower Hill Underground station and many attractions, such as Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Shard etc...are at a very easy walking distance (I just walked around, with no need to take the tube or buses).
I only expected the 8-bed room to be a little bit wider, aniway if you're young, travelling alone and just staying for a couple of nights that's absolutely fine.
N. S.
Very clean. Friendly staff.
F. M.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms are good for what you're paying for. Location is great, within walking distance to a lot of attractions
T. T.
Looking for shrot stay in London ? That's the place ! Rooms are clean, breakfast is cheap and tasty, personal is very friendly, pub is ok, with beerpong table and big screen for sports events. They deserve those awards.
A. P.
Generally nice hostel with clean rooms and friendly staff. 3 stars because the WiFi didn’t reach the room I was staying in which was a nuisance as an international traveler.
E. A.
Modern facilities. Very good bathroom for what you would expect in a shared-room accommodation type. Nice to have on-wall USB chargers (no need for adapter).
a. c.
This is seriously the best hostel in London, I've stayed here many times and always had a good experience. Good for large groups or solo travellers.
D.
Cozy hostel, great breakfast, great ambient and a superb bar in the basement with cellar-like ceilings. Extreme cleanliness. No doubt it deserves the 9+ note in hostelworld. Cheers!
S. W.
Second time staying at Wombats. Friendly staff, comfy beds and really clean rooms. One of my friends claims it was 'the best shower I've ever had'. Would 100% stay again!
A. M.
One of the best hostels i've been to. Every room has it's own shower and restroom and the breakfast is very good in concideration of the price.
S. F.
Very clean, spacious, easily the best hostel I've ever stayed at. Good location. Staff were very helpful and nice.
M. A.
The staff is great. Very efficient and kind. Its En General very clean. But to my experience I consider the beds to somewhat old and the lack maintenance.
T. P.
Great hostel, great atmosphere. Loves the bar downstairs - does not mess with the rooms. The only problem is the noise from the trains.
K. E.
Good clean hostel. Bar downstairs is welcoming and great if you want to socialize or just read a book. Location is close to a few tube stations and the Tower of London
V. C.
Really nice hostels one on the best I have been. Nice bar downstairs, kitchen is big and well equipped. Staff is friendly and always welcoming.
Fabulous
L. S.
Very clean. After read the reviews I was worry about noise. It isn't not a noise place. Very safe.Easy to get by train.I just missed the AC in the rooms.Nice staff.I would stay here again.
T. M.
The room is super great, above of my expectations, everywhere are clean n tidy up. The receptionist provide excellent service, highly recommended u join the walking tours to get know more about London !
N. R.
I didn't stay there but went with a friend who was checking in. In the reception there is lots of space to sit and even work on your computer. Nice place to lounge as well.
m. l.
didnt stay here but a few friends did. great vibe in the social area. busy and good drinks. rooms looked nice enough and good location and price for central london.
S. G.
Stayed here for one night with a group of 5. Had our own room. Very clean and well decorated. Private shower and toilet for our room. Would stay again for sure.
H. M.
My favourite place to stay whenever I'm in London. Well priced, good facilities, and a cosy lounge/kitchen/bar in the vaulted basement - a good space to meet people or just relax in the corner with a good book.
i. s.
Very near to Tower bridge and the tower of London, central London. Thumbs up for all backpackers. Breakfast available, bar there to chill out. Cleanliness 4/5. What else do you want when you are budgeting your trip. Ohhhh yaa there's also a kitchen to help yourself saving a few bucks..
P.
Great hostel, price is based on how busy they are. Definitely check out the basement bar for activities. Location is good as its nearby to London Bridge / transit options.
N. Y.
Great staff, clean rooms, clean bathrooms/toilets, cheap drinks at the bar, has a pool table, beer pong table, ping pong table, close to some nice cheap food options, one of the best hostels I've been to, strongly recommend.
C. J.
Stayed in a private room that was very clean and comfortable. Hostel had a cool vibe and great bar. Nice breakfast!
L. S.
Nice location for school trips and generally for young people. Cool events offered, kind staff and optimal layer in the heart of London. Highly recommendable!
S. H.
A 10 minute walk from Tower Hill Tube Station, wombat's is situated by Tower Bridge, Thames Walkpath, Tower of London, Jack the Ripper Museum, etc. Other culture and leisure attractions within the vaccinity include Bricklane and Old Spitalfields Market.
Furnished with a modern decor, wombat's is equipped with lounge, baggage storage, shared kitchen, dining hall, union room, cellar bar, en suite lavatory, accommodating to the needs and comfort of guests and travellers.
wombat's features game nights, walking tours, and breakfast buffet. Guests are treated a complementary beverage.
J. H.
Great hostel, 5 min walk to the tube. Friendly people. Very secure. Clean sheets and towel. New bathroom. One of the best hostels I've stayed at.
A. G.
Neat, modern and well located
E. R.
It's an amazing hostel, it's history is very interesting and everything is done with joy. The staff is awesome. Loved it it was better than expected
Y. L.
Clean, well-located hostel with fairly large rooms. Awesome bar in the basement to hang out and meet people.
A. C. G.
Very good Hostel!
I will prefer this one on my next trip to london again. It was clean, cheap and one silly classmate of mine hit his head on the stairs becaus he jumped to the roof. He had to go to the hospital and is marked for life! : ) I love you wombats!
M. S.
I would visit this place again in a heartbeat.
Pros: location, friendly staff, kitchenette, clean space, bar etc
Cons: paying for basic English breakfast was much I guess, maybe this is not a big deal as the overall stay was comfortable.
P. V.
One of the best hostel I've been in London.
A. F.
In a word clean. Nice to have a bar on site and location is perfect too. Stayed in mixed four bed room which works out nice as with a shared bathroom you dont have to wait too long
M. K.
Awesome hostel, nice staff. Cool bar in the basement. Only negative is the not optimal location as the closest underground station is a 10 minutes footwalk away.
R. K.
One of the best hostel chain in Europe. Stayed in their Vienna branch also. Superb. 10/10 ⭐️
H. D.
It was super clean, the bar it's cool and they are so nice and kind. Definitely a recommended place to stay.
D. W.
Wombats has a great location and makes a good base of operations for seeing the city. Though the bedrooms could do with more cleaning in general. For the price and reviews would expect a bit more
S. F.
Nice hostel. Good facilities. Had an issue one night with noisy youngsters banging the room doors but other than that it's a pretty good hostel
E. F.
They've been super helpful with everything from helping me with a charger and getting me into a room early to directions and recommendations. Hot showers and a great bar.
H. K.
The room and bathroom facilities were nice. The bar had a nice atmosphere and qcceptable prices. The staff were helpful and the cost was relatively low.
J.
Loved my stay here. Would definitely stay here again when in London. Had a private room. Room and building are very spacious and clean. Extremely friendly staff.
K. M.
Gotta say, the people who work behind the front desk are some of the most accomodating individuals.
I've been sick the past couple of days and completely have annoyed them to no end I'm sure, by switching rooms and moving around but I've received nothing but kindness.
So thank you, from the bottom of this annoying Canadians heart!
S. D.
What a fabulous find. Great facilities, lovely staff, excellent atmosphere. Clean rooms, powerful showers and great spaces to relax in. Highly recommend
T. B.
Big rooms, very clean. Like that they provide towels. Great hostel overall. Nice bar downstairs
M. S.
One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Everything was very clean, and I felt 100% safe at all times.
M. P.
They provide linens, clean towels, and in room lockers that lock with your door key. I was in a 6 bed room, and the bunks made a ton of noise. Obviously, a shared room in a hostel is not a great place if you are light sleeper. There is a sink in the room and a separate room with a toilet, sink, and shower.
m. E.
Great location, clean, and friendly service. Beware of requesting all female room - make sure to confirm room request with hostel not booking agency.
W. G.
Really friendly and chilled out staff. The whole building is very clean and I would always find my room perfect after i came home
P. W.
Large rooms, clean, friendly staff, awesome bar and close to many main attractions.. what more could you ask for. Will definitely book again.
J. Z.
Great. Big. Sweet and kind Service. Amazing bathrooms. But my shelf for loading smartphone and keeping things on kept falling down.
D. D. J.
Really good time here, it's very clean, the breakfast it's delicious. Very close to a metro station. Close to restaurants. Comfortable and spacious. Lugagge storage, wi-fi, an excellent choice.
J.
Clean rooms with handy charging ports by the bed side, rooms get hot during night and windows have to be opened. Is noisy if in a room facing the main roads and trams
S. S.
Excellent 4 person room, has usb port and power point at each bedside shelf. Clean bathroom and separate toilet.
S. M.
Had a great stay here! Free drink voucher and a really cool vibe. Staff was more than accommodating, really enjoyed it!!!
M. R.
Great staff, good rooms and an amazing bar! Having a quick drink and game of Mario Kart really completed my night. Will definitely stay again!
L. C.
Querky dungeon bar in the basement with some space outside. It's a cool place to hang and it also seemed a good hostel to stay a few days. Can't complain about the staff as well, they were really nice
s. g.
Good clean room. I'm staying in the single room with ensuite bathroom. The bar downstairs is fun at night too.
T. H.
Beautiful private room, super modern and clean. Layout and Wombar make it hard to socialize, beware everything inside the building has Wom attached to it, even when it doesn't belong, like this WomReview
R.
Seriously great. Close to major underground lines, shops. Food. I literally walked to lile every attraction in london from there. Big ben. Eye of london. London tower is literally right next door. London bridge. Globe theatre. Leister square. Spacious rooms. Massive windows with great light. Breakfast was great - toasted sandwich machines are a win. Coffee machines. Great facilities. And a great bar at night too. The street it is on isnt too major but it can be a bit loud. But that is going to happen everywhere
R. N.
Love wombats! I've been to several different locations and they never fail to impress. Always so clean and orderly, plus you get a free drink! Clean sheets are a big bonus.
M. B.
Very busy hostel, lots of people going in and out. Staff and bar is very friendly with a lot of amenities to offer. Great location to get around london and cheap to stay!
J. V. W.
Cleaner than some of the hotels in london and ideal for a lone Traveller. The bar at the hostel is a great way to meet people and to have fun.
G. R.
Superb hostel and fantastic facilities. Do take a free walking tour of city provided by strawberry tours. Very helpful staff and central location.
J.
Definitely a party hostel catering to a younger crowd. Great amenities. Friendly staff. Fantastic facilities. Definitely coming back next time I want to party
R. J. (.
I like it, convenient location, staff were great and helpful. Quite squeaky bed's, but everything was clean and good for night.
O. W.
This is a cheap but great hostel, with a brilliant atmosphere. The vibe is friendly, and the cellar bar makes for a great way to socialise and meet fellow travellers.
M. K.
Cannot recommend this hostel enough. Have used them twice now for our annual uni meet ups and will definitely book again.
D.
Good hostel in a great location. Excellent shower, and the facilities are good as well. Good views of the city on the higher floors as well!
M. P.
Great location and an amazing price for somewhere pretty much in the centre of London. Easy access to major tube stations, bars and restaurants but also has its own good basement bar which is great for socialising.
A. M.
I have been sleeping on several hostels in London and Wombats is definately the best one. Clean, new, comfortable, friendly and stylish. I will surely go back there.
C. A. L. E.
This is the hostel in London to stay, for sure.. Everything isn't serious but well organized... Close to a subway station 7min max, good starting point to visit famous place
people are very friendly... ENJOY:)
S. N.
The place is spick and span.. awesome service. Variety of people to mingle and share experiences with.. lovely and lively bar. Couldn't ask for more.. quite secure and free lockers
D. F.
Good experience overall, clean secure good location, bar could better imo, felt more like a nightclub than a backpacker bar
E. B.
Great hostel. Very clean. The price was right. We enjoyed the bar downstairs and had a great breakfast.
M. M.
Really enjoyed my stayed. The bar was affordable and a great place to meet people, and the showers were really nice.
P. V.
Great hostel, very clean and the staff is very friendly. Everyone is down to meet new people, and the bar in the basement is incredible on the weekends
T. G.
Great hostel, clean rooms with private bathrooms and a nice, reasonably priced bar downstairs. Would definitely stay again.
J. F.
Probably the best hostel you get in London.
Everything is fine and the wifi is super strong but the bed sheets could be more clean.
L. C.
Location is awesome. Close access to public transport. The kitchen and bar are both lovely places to sit a bit and have a chat with others.
P. S.
Super fun environment with lots of fun things on every night. Awesome staff and just a great hostel!
B. T.
Best hostel in London so far. Very friendly staff and rooms are perfect for small groups.
J. E.
10 mins from my conference, spacious, great selection for breakfast, and innovative lock system. If you like comfort and convenience at a great price...stay here.
O. W.
This is a good place to stay.Good experience with Wombats.Friendly hostel with nice sized rooms. I liked that the lockers were activated by the room key card.
R. L.
Fantastic place to stay close to London bridge, Shoreditch area. Cleanliness is a priority so don't worry about dirty facilities

My first hostel to ever stay in and it was so clean, workers are very friendly and in a good location.

Very clean, modern. Good bar downstairs. If you forget your key you will get locked in a stairwell, not fun
J.
Incredible staff and the hostel is very well organised. Very close to Tower Bridge and also both DLR and underground train stations. Would definitely recommend to anybody!
H. Q.
There's not that much space in the rooms but they are clean and the staff is very nice and help you if you have any question. Would come back if I ever visit London again.
E. K.
Great hostel in an ideal location to navigate central London. 5 minute walk from the lovely Brick Lane area with a host of fantastic food options nearby.

Clean and comfort room. Every dorm has a shared bathroom. Only need to share with ur roommates.
C. F.
Beds we're worn and mattresses had stains but Toilets and showers were state of the art. Staff were 20 somethings who are just doing a job and really don't care about customer service.
R. G.
Location is okay but a bit of a walk to the tube. Hostel is clean with decent facilities. Staff are somewhat friendly.
A. E.
Best hostel room I've ever stayed, however the underground bar is extremely pricey.
L. G.
Pretty good location near some transit stations. Close enough to the tower bridge and tower of London to walk. Wombats always has top notch service and rooms! Book it!
S. M.
Fantastic hostel. Clean rooms, lockers and showers. A bar downstairs full of travellers. Always fun.

Better than most of the hotels that I have ever stayed in, check out the basement bar and breakfast area it is the coolest place to see with all the arched brickwork.
B. Y.
The rooms were really clean and check-in and check-out was quick. They gave a free welcome drink in their bar too.
G. K.
I've visited the construction site of wombat's. From what I saw, this youth hostel will easily top most other accomodations I've been staying at in London. Can't wait to visit it again!
J. V.
Great, clean rooms. The staff is amazing, and they offer lots of activitys to integrate guests. 5/5
J. K.
The absolute best hostel in London, they provide lockers and breakfast for free, it's kinda in a sketchy spot but if I ever go back that's the only place I'd stay.

Nice hostel, quite big. There's a very nice basement where you can have a lot of fun.

C. M.
Amazing staff. The historic building is beautifully redone. public transport is amazing - district, circle, Hammersmith & city, metropolitan line and DLR just around the corner...
J. J.
Very clean and comfortable beds, bar and nightlife present. Slightly expensive compared to other hostels.
J. S.
Nice rooms, bathrooms are great. Good bar. The rooms are getting quite hot at night.
Y. L.
Great facilities and atmosphere. Bathroom was clean, the staff was kind and helpful. Location is not the best.
N. A.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable (and the fact they separated a room the toilet and a room for the shower is brilliant, dont know why every other hostel doesnt do the same. The hostel itself is very pretty and well organized, one of the best I've ever stayed in. Wifi works everywhere with a strong signal. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, and the breakfast is amazing for the bargain of 4.50 pounds. The localisation its not perfect because theres not much around to eat or do but the Tower Bridge and Tower Hill station are quite near. I would stay here again
D. J.
The rooms are really nice, everything is kept very clean. The sheets are very nice and they provide towels.
L. H.
Pretty clean, awesome service, neat bar downstairs, and clean/well equipped kitchen facilities. Definitely recommend

Nice place, super cool bar and big kitchen to cook your meals. Yet not so friendly staff as I had experience in the Wombats of Berlin.
H. I.
Comfortable rooms, great up to date facilities, though lacking in air conditioning on a very hot London night. Still, can't find any other faults

Wombats is a great hostel. The brekkie is mediocre at best. Door latches are loud when people close the door. Good all around though.
