Welcoming staff and comfortable rooms. Food matched expectation.
Restaurant service could be faster but was served attentively and when it came with mistakes (we had a complicated combination!) rectified quickly. A star taken off due to the bar shutting early at 2215 on a Saturday night. We were able to get a round in after this time thanks to the manager allowing this but still seems incredibly early for a hotel bar.
I'll definitely return as all else was to satisfaction, so hope this can be reviewed.
Thanks

A very lovely hotel, service was excellent. We dined in the cosy bar area. I would have liked to have had more on my plate of the accompaniments to my cured salmon starter and the chunky chips with the main could have been crispier; on the whole though very satisfied. The breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

10/10. Attentive, caring and lovely staff. Clean and constantly sanitised. Warm and lovely place. Wood fire, great for small and large gatherings, beautifully enclosed within an old stagecoach building. Lovely rooms. Classiest place in Oundle. Definitely recommend to anybody.
R. D.
Lovely building spotlessly clean great bedrooms. Duvet was too small for bed.Afternoon receptionist not at all welcoming. Generally staff don't bother to ask if you're ok , except for Sarah who puts the rest to shame. Best afternoon tea but vegetarian dinners very poor.

Had my wedding there at the beginning of December and honestly can't fault the process. They were amazing from start to finish, Dorota especially! Rooms are fantastic, food is exceptional, really can't recommend this place enough!

Pub lunch in the bar. Nice staff. Burger was could have been more flavoursome utcwas good quality and was a bit pricy at £16. The other plate was homemade fish finger butty. Good quality fish and nicely cooked a better deal at £10. its a comfortable and well appointed place to go for lunch and a chat and being right in the middle of Oundle, easy to find. If you can't find a place to park on the street they have a car park out the back. Drive past the hotel up the hill take first left and then left again.

Stayed over Christmas. Staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Food was delicious. Our suite was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Really couldn’t find fault at all.

Beautiful hotel. Excellent rooms equipped with Nespresso coffee machine (very important!). Also had dressing gowns and slippers supplied. Very comfortable, right in the centre of Oundle. Car park at rear. Excellent bar and restaurant, one of the best cooked breakfast we have had. Attentive, helpful and caring staff. Good value as well. Highly recommended.

We had our wedding and reception here. Beautiful location. Staff were friendly and very accomaditing, they couldn't do enough for us. Our whole wedding party enjoyed their weekend at the Talbot. Have been here for a few meals.in the past too and always been great. I would highly recommend for anything from a meal or over night stay to a wedding. We will be returning many times in the future I'm sure. Thank you to everyone at The Talbot!

Went for lunch. Excellent sandwiches. Excellent service. We sat in the back garden. Delightful.
We went back for a tea and a beer! after having an overtly sweet and weak mocha and cup of tea that tasted distinctly fishy!
Our 3rd visit was for supper. Seafood stew and chicken supreme. Delightful.
If you're in Oundle, there's really no other place.
Excellent service. Beautiful surroundings. Delightful food. 10% for staff in your bill. Don't quibble.
J.
Lovely if somewhat pricey rooms, breakfast could have been better. Rather dull menu and ales.
Friendly, helpful staff, off road parking very useful.

Compliments to the chef the food was 10/10 dinner and breakfast. All staff very freindly and very helpful rooms nice
C.
Went for a Sunday lunch, overall the food was what I hoped for. The beef had a nice flavour however the pork had a dry, stringy texture. The service was very quick, they came 2 or 3 times to check if everything was ok, if we wanted sauces etc. Just finished desert, the sticky toffee pudding was delightful. Overall a great place to eat at.

Lovely hotel, very well looked after, very clean, nicely fitted, great staff, little extras in the room that make the difference. A hotel run by people that care, and understand how things should be done. Highly recommended
S. T.
Classy, full of History. Love this place. Menu limited but am sure they have done Market Research.
C. G.
Food generally very good. Service could have been better as not that busy. Nice setting though
C. A.
A very romantic place, and the food was tasty. Definitely I will back.
P. R.
Beautiful old building. Great to relax in the bar with large old fireplace. Quality place 👌 highly Recommended
C. B.
An all round fantastic hotel, with lovely, helpful and friendly staff, as well as great food throughout the day and a delightful room. The gardens in summer are sublime and was a pleasure to sit out on an afternoon/evening and relax in the courtyard. A wonderfully historical building at the heart of this rural and picturesque market town that I simply cannot recommend highly enough.
D. C.
We had a lovely 3 nights here. The staff were really helpful and curious and the room was just right.
J. C.
Absolutely amazing experience here for our wedding, everything handled really well by all staff, despite covid it felt like a normal day with no restrictions! Food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it, hotel rooms lovely and set out well. Nice little note left by cleaners hoping we enjoy our stay. Very clean, tidy and well looked after place. Great for photography too! Definitely recommend for events, very well priced and can not fault the place at all! Visited a couple of times for lunchs, very good service and choices on food are good too. Big thanks to Tara & Dorota for being on ball and making everything so easy & special!
D. S.
A warm greeting and a lovely room. The coaching inn hotel is stunning with a beautiful courtyard and garden. The history about Mary Queen of Scots is so fascinating. Lovely walks to the Ashton to see the peacocks and thatched cottages and along the River Nene. The town Oundle is so pretty and interesting. Delicious dinner in the beautifully decorated restaurant and a great massive cooked breakfast the next day. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back. Thank you everyone.

Have visited the Talbot a few times in the past. So we were looking forward to returning. The rooms were lovely and cleaning staff were very attentive . Sadly, breakfast time was slightly chaotic. They certainly had the staff to cover, but the customer was quite easily forgotten at the table and had to remind the staff. The full English breakfast was 'ok' but nothing special .
V. F.
We had a lovely family lunch today the food and the service was excellent. Staff are lovely. Thank you for the little treats for our golden wedding anniversary. Highly recommend this lovely hotel. Thank you.
R. H.
Only went in for a coffee - nice setting, nice coffee but service a bit slow.
R. S.
Thank you to all the team at The Talbot Hotel for helping us create the most beautiful civil wedding day. Beth, Sophie, Dorota, Martina, Gail and Greg - you were all amazing! Thank you for all your hospitality leading up to and on our wedding day. We were on a tight schedule and are so happy that we were able to get married in my hometown and plan the wedding in a month! We also loved our stay in the Bridal Suite. The reception, lounge areas, restaurants and bars are amazing and the food is fab! Rini & Arjun
M. S.
It was a very nice hotel full of old charm. Sarah the bar person was very friendly and helpful. I will return again another time.
P. H.
Beautiful surroundings, rooms are lovely and the Sunday dinner is amazing. Fantastic history and the staff are happy to show your around. Don't forget to see Mary Queen of Scots Ring print on the stairway. There is also 1755 graffiti on the windows in a corridor.
M. S.
The dining experience was phenomenal! We thought the service was very friendly and helpful. The food was terrific. And the atmosphere was relaxed.
C. M.
rooms are a little tired but amazing never the less.
Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating.
A. P.
Breakfast here was underwhelming. Not only is there a charge for everything (coffee and toast not included in the meal?!) but the food portions were small and the food itself was just ok. The room was way too hot and stuffy and the decor was not the best.
Dinner was another story. Our dinner on another night was by the bar and fireplace. The window was cracked so the temperature was perfect. The pub was beautiful and staff friendly and professional. The food was absolutely amazing and smelled so good. Well worth the wait and price.
Make reservations as it is tiny and fills up quickly.
T. W.
Historic coaching hotel with a well stocked bar and a very nife restaurant.
S. B.
Lovely, friendly staff. Stunning hotel.
Made us feel very welcome. Marina at reception couldn’t have been more helpful. Bar staff all friendly and talkative, will return.
D. C.
Well priced great location staff were good seems unkind to give them 3 star's but room had lots of obvious problems that no one had bothered to fix. No glasses bath plug broken off chain windows stuck shut toilet constantly trying to fill as mechanism worn out, could have been so different.
K. N.
Went for a staff meeting and the lunch was very nice. We had a range of sandwich's sausage rolls and duck spring rolls all were outstanding. I would highly recommend.
M. B.
Attended a wedding here, great venue.
Enjoyed my visit.
S. S.
Great hotel with lots of character in a good location. Food and service excellent.
F. c.
Had really nice Lunch from the updated menu for bar snacks. Still follow Covid rules and plenty of purell for hands.
K. W.
Good food, reasonably priced. Nice staff, very attentive. Would have been nice to have some shady seating outside, but inside with the doors open was ok.
P. P.
Really nice atmosphere. The only downside is the coffee. The espresso was lacking crema and taste.
D. M.
An excellent hotel, with a relaxing ambiance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food and a good range of gins (other drinks are available on request) :)
T. B.
Delicious valentines meal.... tastes were varied and creative
J. M.
Lovely hotel staff very helpful clean and comfortable good choice of breakfast would recommend
M. J.
It was the most amazing day after all these quarantines. The main point of the day was to have a nice photoshoot in a nice place, but we were overwhelmed. We accidentally found this nice place. Felt like in a fairy tale. Just a few people chatting around, nice sunny evening and the amazing building behind. Staff was very nice! That shows that they are really in high standards. Lady showed us some old part of the building where the Scottish queen were living. And that part of the building is still there and old stairs and some old guns. The feeling is amazing in there! Visit! Experience yourself! All rooms you want to go and make a picture! Visit! Visit! Visit!
J. K.
Fantastic beatifull place, good food, friendly staff highly recommend 👌
J. H.
Just had drink this time but very friendly and food always good
R. N.
Clean, quiet hotel with friendly staff. Nice place to stay though not much in Oundle itself.
C. M.
Ashton suite, beautiful room. Genuinely happy, friendly staff throughout our stay. Great bar man from Yorkshire, very friendly he looked after us very well, recommended a good red wine and always took the time to make you smile and laugh. Breakfast was very good in the beautiful garden room. Hotel was excellent value and we will look forward to coming back again in the future

We hosted our wedding reception here and I can only thank all the amazing staff for bringing our dream to life!
From day one to the night itself we felt looked after and listened to . The Hotel itself its lovely and clean! The food was fantastic!
If you are planning your own special day I couldn't suggest the Talbot hotel enough!
A Special Thanks to Dorota, Tara, Dan and Mark!
One very very happy newly wed!
C. R.
Lovely Room. Nice and warm. Good shower/Bath. Comfy Bed. Very near main bus stop. Only issue was the toilet kept running water for ages when we hadn't even used it! Would definitely stay again.
j. c.
Very calming setting in a beautiful 15th century inn. A sufficient amount of sandwiches and treats to follow. It was afternoon tea, not a lunch so only satisfiying but a very nice treat. £30 for 2 so you decide, I loved it.
R. B.
Had a lovely night with good food and a lovely breakfast
K. T.
Absolutely exceptional!! We held our wedding ceremony and reception here and it was perfect from beginning to end. The staff were all amazingly helpful and friendly no request was a trouble. Beautiful rooms, wonderful service and great food. Really cannot thank them enough.
d. t.
Only had coffee and beer but staff very friendly and every thing very clean
A. T.
A marvellous old building tastefully updated with lovely themed rooms and a fantastic restaurant. The staff are all extremely polite and attentive. A special thank you goes to Marina, Josh and William. If you get the opportunity to stay here grab it.
E. J.
Pleasant lunch here but I think staff could try a little harder, claimed to be busy but didn't seem to have the urgency to go with it. Food was lovely though. Well done chef 🙃
A. D.
Held our wedding reception here. The whole team were fantastic. Dorota helped plan and sort the event. Tara, Dan and Mark helped at the event and kept the whole thing on track with timing and food. They were always approachable and a member of the team was always about.
The whole event went amazingly well and a special shout to Tara for looking after me so well. Would not hesitate to plan an event and stay here again.
The breakfast was great and how the chef got the scrambled eggs to taste so great is a credit
C. B.
Got married here and the entire process from booking to the event itself, was totally brilliant. Every member of staff on the day was exceptional and the rooms are beautiful. We had the best day we could have imagined and that was in part due to the Talbot staff and management. Would give six stars if I could!
A. T.
Lovely cosy place for a few drinks
r. k.
We had a drink at the bar. The bar staff were great. Good array of beers on tap. I have never seen the bar staff. Be so attentive to pouring a pint. They took real care over each drink making sure they had poured a perfect pint. which was nice to see. I had not seen this anywhere else and thought it was great! We only had 1 drink as was waiting for a Chinese but would definitely like to have stayed for more! Would recommend.
C. W.
We stayed one night and were generally really impressed with the hotel. The staff were really friendly, helpful and well trained. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed but the bathroom let it down. The grouting was dirty around the bath, the sealant was broken and there was mould behind the taps. I would have liked to have had a bath but didn’t because of this. We booked into the restaurant that evening. The menu was great with plenty of choice and the service was good. Some of the food missed the mark but generally we were happy. Having looked at the pubs in the village the bar at the Talbot is definitely the best one. A lovely fire and comfy chairs. We’d come back if you upgraded your bathrooms!
S. M.
Lovely Sunday lunch, very good attentive service....

Visited for a wedding in April 2019. The ceremony and reception were excellent, as was the food. Our room was quite tired albeit was shortly going to be refurbished. Public spaces (restaurant and bar) were well appointed and comfortable.
A. B.
We were made very welcome.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. And the best full English ever.
S. W.
Picturesque, convenient car park (but avoid under the tree), comfortable rooms, good breakfast, helpful staff - lot more character than yer average Premier and not a lot more money.
m. t.
Hotel and staff were very good and helpful unfortunately our food was poor my full English breakfast was cold the plate felt like it had been in a fridge, the only thing slightly warm was the sausage. After the previous evenings dinner that also went back to the kitchen we decided to visit the local pub, The Ship Inn,the food was delicious.
Our next breakfast we asked for hot plates, well done Mark you couldn't have got them any hotter my smoked haddock was actually cooking on the plate,I was surprised it didn't burn the table or injur the waitress.
S. B.
It’s a lovely place to stay. Only downside now is they take payment when you book we’re I preferred to pay when you go. That’s only because of Covid I’m hoping. Breakfast good and staff friendly especially on front desk. Room lovely really good quality bedding and comfortable bed. Right in the heart of Oundle. Well worth a visit.
R. A.
Great hotel such an asset to the local area, the food is also exceptional.
P. S. (.
Helpful staff, good atmosphere, great food
G.
Nice Hotel. Service was good. The setting of the Hotel is excellent. Definitely will stay again.
S. F.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff all in a charming setting, we love it
C. S.
Beautiful scenery in the gardens, splendid food and a pot of tea served. Friendly staff and excellent service.
a. s.
Called in for a coffee, like many places the coffee wasnt hot, not the best place considering plenty of staff. Seating was comfortable,
D. S.
Enjoyable evening with friends good food and drink . Pleasant staff and friendly service.
W. W.
Nice by to return to the Talbot great service and the afternoon tea was enjoyable. Will return for an evening meal later in the year
R. S.
Where to start.,deserves MORE than 5 stars. Food amazing, staff incredible couldn't do enough for you, our room was superb with everything in it. The Talbot oozes history and I am very happy i found it. I will be a VERY regular guest!
d. b.
Love the Talbot for coffee. Have
Happy memories drinking in Snug Bar, now sadly no longer in use.
J. T.
Waited 30 mins for a coffee to be brought to our table.
N. S.
It is quaint, charming and beautiful. The food is good, drink offerings are a plenty but the rooms need a bit of a spruce up. Mine didn’t have a plug next to the bed, with this tiny little hiccup I would still recommend fully.
P. K.
I had a suite in the loft, room 6, spooky atmosphere if you believe the rumours about this hotel ? There was one odd event though, the bathroom mirror with lights built into it didn't work for the first 2 nights then decided to switch itself on and wouldn't turn off for the remainder of my stay ??
All in all a really nice hotel friendly staff and great food.
J. M.
Excellent hotel ,lovely stay spotlessly clean .staff are excellent. Packed with history ,
M. M.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay and eat. Loved the 2 nights we spent here.
C. M.
Spacious, very nice rooms, decent restaurant. Patio garden.Small car park. Lots of history if you like that sort if thing! Right in the middle of beautiful Oundle.
J. S.
Two of us dropped in for coffees; 2 large americanos please. They arrived with milk, sugar, and Maltesers. Nice enough surroundings, but we were obliged to 'share' a table with others already sat down. Not a big issue, but an issue all the same. Good coffee, pleasant staff, recommended.
J. S.
We love the drinks, food and staff - everything is so cosy and beautiful and all the staff are so lovely every time! It's becoming a favourite place, very grateful :)
J. R.
We came to a wedding here on Friday the 28th, I can highly recommend the Talbot! Unfortunately after the wedding breakfast one of our part became very ill (nothing to do with the hotel) and the staff were amazing! They could not have done a better job if they'd tried. Well done to all of you.
A. M. J.
Lovely restaurant environment, light and airy, service great, friendly and helpful and prompt and food delicious. Thoroughly recommended.
J. F.
A very comfortable night and was looked after very well. They obviously take Covid very seriously as they had put in place many restrictions which kept us safe. The staff were very helpful and attentive.
M. G.
Nice place, only had a coffee and cake but will go back!
M. M.
Amazing venue! Staff go above and beyond to go the extra mile. Rooms very comfy and have everything required- including fans (we stopped over bank holiday weekend when it was a heatwave so much needed!!!) Can't rate highly enough
S. Y.
Room ok for the price we were paying. Looking forward to a really good evening meal, which we didnt mind paying for if good. Food terrible although they were good enough not to charge for most if it. Really disappointed.
My score has gone down to 2/5 having had two poor breakfasts. Both were served on cold plates so consequently food was cold. Another disappointment although again they did offer to cook us another but couldn't do with the hassle. Not looking forward to tomorrow's breakfast.
The waiter last night and the ladies waiting on at breakfast this morning were all wonderful however.
Since I am not allowed to post an updated review on tripadvisor I would like to mention what a difference a day can make (or maybe a different chef!). Our final breakfast was excellent, plates lovely and hot and scrambled eggs delicious. Shame this didn't happen earlier, when you only have a two day experience each meal, each day, is important.
My last comment is to thank our ladies at breakfast, especially Jayne ( who gave a us a suggested programme for our day, giving an insight into your lovely local villages and an introduction to a lovely old pub), and also to Diane, both certainly made our stay a bit more special.
t. h.
Very nice hotel and restaurant, highly recommended for a meal and a stay.
R. S.
Lovely menu, big open fires make lovely atmosphere. Lunches, evening meals and afternoon teas are very nice. Breakfast menu looks good too, but I am yet to try!
J. W.
Great communal spaces. Amazing old building. Really good food and bar service. Plenty of outside spaces for dinning and drinking when weather is good. Rooms can be a little tired, dated and small.
S. P.
We came here on Christmas Eve for a drink. It was mega busy but the staff were fairly accommodating. With that being said, we wouldn’t come again on such a busy night. Also, having come from London the prices for drinks was outrageous. £6 for a pint of Peroni is far too much- it’s Oundle not central London and the place simply isn’t special enough to warrant it.
A. G. U.
Just had a great lunch, the hotel restaurant areas and bars have a great atmosphere, the interior designers have done a great job. The staff were helpfull and courteous,," a rare thing these days, cant wait to go back.
M. E.
A charming place steeped in history with good ale and food. I'm sure would be a great place stay. Right in the middle of a lovely town.
D. B.
Beautifully crafted from original buildings into a beautiful hotel. Comfort, setting, atmosphere all excellent. Walk out of the hotel and you find yourself central in the village of Oundle, but only a short walk will take you to countryside, parkland or the marina.
H. H.
Unbelievable experience. First time in the UK and was such a nice way to start. Beautiful views, flowers everywhere. The Guinness on tap was delightful. Room and grounds were adorable.
B.
Hotel was great, nice tidy room, great customer service and the price was excellent for what you are getting. Only problem would be that the toilet in our room kept making a noise so it was hard to get to sleep but other than that, all was good!
D. P.
Excellent cuisine but pricey
A. B.
Attended a wedding at the venue and stayed overnight. Very well organised by the venue, except for them hurrying vital parts of the day such as photos. Food is very good, the main bar is well stocked and the hotel is very comfortable.
The eggs benedict at breakfast was a disaster, with a 'hard boiled' poached egg and a hollandaise sauce that had set before it reached the table. They didn't apologise for this, but did replace the dish. However this does not detract from a very enjoyable wedding.
M. H.
Excellent. We stay quite often as grandaughter at school in Oundle. Warm welcome. Upgraded - again - to luxurious Ashton Suite. Delicious lunch. Background music turned down before I asked. Staff (particularly Colette) very attentive. Thank you Talbot. Two happy guests.
M. W.
Historic hotel with friendly helpful staff and great food and drink.
S. B.
Fantastic ambience, steeped in history. Great food and drink. Friendly and helpful staff. Cannot say much more without using superlatives. Oops I've just done it.
C.
My husband booked this for a suprise, it was sooo nice. All staff were very good. We went out to eat for evening, but breakfast was okay, the muffins was a bit on the stale side.
K. B.
Wonderful afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings and lovely friendly staff too!
A. R.
Lovely hotel! We had a lovely big room with a beautiful bathroom. However, you can hear a lot from other rooms and walking out in the corridor. The restaurant was lovely with fantastic food
A. S.
Great food and the mulled wine is a must! Hotel rooms are modern and comfortable and staff are very helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.
F. C.
Had a really nice stay was a lovely nice old hotel from 1600s the food was amazing and the staff too definitely coming back soon
G. W.
This was a perfect spot for a bite to eat. Architecture is something to behold. Staff were all friendly and that right balance between chatty and attentive. Top quality coffee~ treat yourself!
J. B.
Nice central hotel. Couldn't rate five stars as the mattress was uncomfortable, our room was too warm all night I could hear the constant hum of a fridge or some kind of machine below in the bar/breakfast area.
B. W.
Great place to go for Sunday afternoon coffee and snack. Seems obvious to me that they keep Covid 19 safety at the top of their priorities. Lovely surroundings.
A. P.
Overall my stay at the talbot hotel was average. Poor fitting windows causing mould and a cold plate running breakfast spoiled an otherwise good experience. Service good on the whole. Room was reasonably sized and priced at a similar point to a number of hotels in the area.
C. Z.
Bar has excellent gin and tonics. Bar staff is friendly and prices are average. Excellent atmosphere though with a lot of history around the property. Highly recommend.
A. G.
Lovely, characterful hotel with ample exterior seating and comfortable interior spaces for dining/drinking.
A. W.
Just had afternoon tea with 2 friends. Excellent service, the staff were brilliant. The food was lovely, plenty to eat. Would definitely recommend.
C. O.
Oh how this place could be so much better! It has a captured market and rather be master, the management appear happy with providing average fare. Something of an anticlimax, everytime. So could give The George Stamford a run for its money, sadly no sign of those aspirations.
K. S. (.
Had our wedding at The Talbot Hotel in May. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. We had Beth as a wedding co-ordinator and she was always on hand to answer the million questions I threw at her. On the day we had both Tom & Martin plus their merry band of helpers. We couldn't have asked for more, the team did everything before we asked for it. We had 3 pregnant ladies and Tom sorted them out different food that they could eat, they rearranged timings when I turned up over 30 mins late and put me at ease as I was freaking out. Haha Genuinely can't recommend this place enough!
I. C.
So lovely staff nice too and excellent customer service afternoon tea lovely
M. G.
Really enjoyed my stay, the staff were all friendly and helpful, the meat pie was delicious.
C. H.
Lovely wedding we attended. Upstairs wasnt appropriate for the few disabled guests that we went with but the food and atmosphere was lovely.
D. W.
Ideally placed for our midmorning coffee stop and chat, whilst out cycling.
I. W.
We had a very enjoyable New Year's stay at the Talbot. Food was delicious, staff & service were top notch. Would recommend & will definitely be back.
d. j. d.
Quick service, even though busy.
Food excellent too
J. W.
Wonderful place ,great menu and staff
C. T.
Lovely location, beautiful, period, clean room with spacious bathroom. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
H. M.
It's a quaint little inn in the middle of the equally quaint acient town of Oundle. Despite its obviously old age the rooms are either well maintained or revamped. Talbot privides the best accommodation in Oundle without doubt.
v. q.
Excellent huge suite. Excellent, tasty breakfast.
M. W.
Amazing. Made to feel incredibly welcome and safe. Staff were wonderful. It was a perfect couple of days. Loved it
A. L.
Attended a wedding here which was lovely. Breakfast was also excellent. Only gripe was the vegetarian options in the wedding breakfast but the dessert was chocolate heaven.
C. G.
I've been there a couple of times for coffee, which was enjoyable. I don't know about the rooms but it looks a lovely, quirky old place to stay to visit this charming town.
C. T.
Beautiful place, full of history, friendly staff, good service, great food and very comfortable rooms. I've stayed there 3 times so far
M.
Fantastic staff ... I work for one the biggest companies in the world .. and often travel but the GM was absolutely brilliant ... I even got offered Coffee !!!! Would highly recommend this place to anyone whom would like to stay in a lovely hotel with amaking staff !!! :)
D. T.
Can't beat the ambiance. Be sure to explore upstairs. Ask where the queen Mary stairs are. There are multiple eating venues in here, so look around first. I like the Mezze plate, but the portions could be bigger.
C. J.
The Talbot is a great location for coffee, food & drinks. Feeling of history is there too. Looking forward to winter fires there too!
O. B.
A nice meal in the Talbot last night, we were well looked after and the food was very good quality would come here again.
G. P.
Popped in for hot chocolate and a recce at the menu for a future visit. Lovely christmasy feel. Looking forward to sampling the food on our next visit.
M. J.
Staff were slow when asked for something they forgot to return, 3 tables in the garden occupied restaurant empty. 5 tables outside No ice in iced drinks ! Very disappointed.
C. Y.
Went here for our works Christmas night. The food was pretty good and the mini bar they had was well stocked but the main hotel bar and restaurant are amazing
L. R.
Great food and the historical tour the manager gave us was a real treat 😀. Will be back ! 😀
R. C.
Very friendly clean, and fast. I am at this beautiful place at least once a month and the staff ,food , and drinks.
Thank you to all. Still 100%.
M. R.
Worth a visit and stay if in the area. Regular hospitality partner for St Wilfrid Lodge 4453. Character & atmosphere helping to boost our Lodge visitor numbers.
T. J.
The staircase from Forthering Castle (Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and beheaded). Although what remains of the actual castle is a large boulder, The beautiful staircase is used in the Talbot Hotel. Go walk down the same steps that Queen Mary walked the day she was beheaded.
H. C.
Afternoon tea as well priced. Service was good with refills on coffee and tea. Location of the hotel is good at the centre of the town. Food tasted nice.
C. M.
Drinks menu is on the pricier side, however The Talbot has a lovely atmosphere to enjoy a nice gin & tonic!
S. T.
Beautiful hotel steeped in history. Went for a look around and some lunch. The staff were great and the food was tasty.
C. W.
Staff are very helpful, accommodation in a standard double room is first class. Attached tea room is very nice and a lovely venue for a wedding.
H. Y.
Lovely in the summer for a drink.
J. B.
Great vintage building with lots of modern touches!
S. E.
Great meal in their restaurant, dog friendly, covid very safe, lovely night
Y. H.
Excellent Sunday lunch. Felt very covid safe.
G. G.
Good rustic Hotel. Used for a work stop over. Prices for and drinks are expensive but hotel prices very good. Nice place to eat in village Dexters restaurant.
H. W.
Lovely place for a special meal or a few casual drinks! Also do pretty decent coffee too.
L. P.
Really lovely bar and hotel

Excellent full English . Lots of interesting small shops to explore. Visited family run plant nursery and Elton Hall garden centre and cafe. Good quality plants at both. Great 2 nights away birthday treat.

Stayed at the Talbot a number of times and have always been pleased but to be honest there were a couple of niggles this stay.
On booking in the lady on reception was pleasant but not particularly helpful, the lady gave me my key and told me my room is 208 and that it is at the back of the garden and gestured toward the car park. No matter where I looked there was no signs to tell me where room was. I returned to reception to ask where this room could be. I was asked did I not find the archway into the garden. I replied I had but this looked like a private residence. The receptionist said no this is where your room is. A sign would have been helpful.
On entering the room no welcome letter as I was told there would be.
My wife and I had booked evening meal but when we arrived at the restaurant we were told that it was a reduced menu. Although we stayed to eat, the food was not to the normal standard.
Having grumbled a little this would not stop us visiting again you can't always be 100% all of the time.

(Translated) This is a historic building hotel.
Because there is no elevator, you will be giving your own luggage.
The bed was comfortable to sleep.
Because of the old construction, the floor may not be completely open or the windows may not be completely closed, but this is also one experience (lol)
It's quiet and great if you want to experience the atmosphere of an old British building.

(Translated) A very nice hotel in a historic building. However, it seems that there is no elevator, so if it is a heavy suitcase it will struggle depending on the location of the room.
Breakfast can be delicious egg egg Benedict. It is a rural area, but there are several places to eat around the hotel, and the atmosphere of the city is good, so it is recommended.

朝食はエッグベネディクトなどが美味しくいただけます。田舎ですが、ホテル周囲にも食事するところがいくつかあり、街の雰囲気も良いのでおすすめです。
