I don't leave too many reviews, but I want to in John's case. Because I am delighted to have found such an honest, dependable and effective heating engineer and I'd like to spread the word. I first met him years ago when my older Potterton boiler broke down. Another guy spent hours sitting over my boiler, not repairing it, leaving us with no hot water or heating for a week, before announcing we needed a 5,000 pound new boiler - and sadly, yes, he would need to take up my carpets and my floorboards. I was desperate but not so much that I didn't seek a second opinion. I was lucky to find John - the reviews people left for him totally resonated. John repairs boilers. His intention is not to sell you a new one (if he ever told me I needed a new boiler, I would not hesitate to get one). John knows boilers. However old or obscure, he knows their parts and what they need to work. And he seems to not want to write them off; in fact he understands that older boilers were often better made and more dependable. In my experience, that is true of almost every mechanical device I have owned - the old ones won't be as pretty, but they were built to last. He said my boiler was solid and well-made. He ordered a part and fixed it straight away. The other guy could have done that too, but instead he told me a lie that I needed a new boiler. John's repair cost a couple of hundred pounds including labour. And four years later, my boiler has been trouble-free. Anyway after some time away from the UK, I need a service so I called John, delighted that he is still thriving. And though he seems insanely busy helping folk with emergencies, he found the time to call and let me know he could do a service a bit later after restrictions lift. And he gave me a simple instruction to stop a noise that arose after a plumber fixed a leak, drained my heating system and left me with an alarming rattling sound. My insurer sent out an engineer who told me I needed a total flush costing a thousand, or a new exchanger or a new other part - all nicely expensive of course. John on the call simply told me to turn down the boiler temperature knob. The insurance guy never mentioned that free fix - though he took the panel off so would have seen the knob. John often mildly says "that's nonsense" of the advice of heating engineers. And I want to support the rare guys out there who still believe that doing an honest job counts for something...I totally recommend John.

Don't hesitate in calling John, he's an absolute hero! the heating engineers contracted by my housing association had left me without heating and hot water for ten days during the coldest nights of winter, and after they failed to fix my boiler I found John on google. What an absolute gentleman! John is the type of person that restores your faith in the kindness of humanity. My boiler stopped working 2 days ago, I contacted 2 companies (including plumbforce direct) who just didn't turn up. At 8pm on a wednesday night, I came across Full Flames reviews and crossed my fingers when I called John. To my surprise, he talked me through what the problem was on the phone and told me to watch some youtube videos to fix the problem, unfortunately that did not help and so I phoned him back and I was prepared to beg him to squeeze me in but he asked me to send some pictures of the pipes and when I did, he told me what I needed to do which fixed the problem. I contacted John (Full Flame) the day before he came. I called in another plumber the week before and the plumber wanted to change the boiler and charge me the earth for it. I was a bit doubtful and I waited for the plumber to contact me. It was a week and I got fed up of waiting and search Google map and found Full Flame with excellent ratings. I contacted John and he came the next day. He looked at the boiler and said the boiler is fine and does not need changing. He replaced the pump within two hours and checked the gas to make sure it was safe. He wrote the breakdown costs on the bill, a first for a plumber that I've had for years!

He is clearly very knowledgeable about boilers and explained everything he was doing as he went along. Great advice, thought my boiler went bust, after speaking to John , he diagnosed that the problem was the thermostat of my shower, not the boiler. Had a problem with the pressure on our boiler and couldn't for the life of me figure out where the tap was to change it. So called John to see if he could come out to fix it. Called John at 9am. Left a message on the answering machine and within fifteen minutes he called back and to my surprise agreed to come that morning. He quickly identified the problem with our Valiant Boiler and with no fuss or bother told us that we needed a new part. He had the part on his van, but due to the rusting up of the screws he apologised and said that he had to order a back plate in order to fit our new part. Three days later he arrived as promised to finish off the job and get us up and running for the winter. I was very happy with the way John dealt with the repair and he was a pleasure to deal with. A different gas engineer who was asked to service my boiler reported that it had a leak which was unrepairable and that the boiler would have to be replaced. I sought a second opinion from Full Flame. John accurately diagnosed the problem just by looking at photos of the inside of the boiler. It took just a couple of hours to fix my boiler. I am grateful to John and his font of knowledge regarding boiler repair. It means I get to keep my existing boiler for what will hopefully be many more years. If anyone tells you that your Valliant boiler needs replacing, you should definitely have John first take a look at it and see if it can be repaired.

I am always very careful when it comes to hiring a handyman or engineer as unfortunately there are so many bad ones out there. John arrived on time and was very (!!!) thorough and friendly. He was able to explain to me everything he did when I asked him, which is always a good sign as this shows that he really knows what he is doing, and he fixed the problem. He did not try to sell me any unneccessary things and even checked if my boiler was safe in terms of carbon monoxide emission and bled my radiators (and explained to me how to do that myself in the future). At first I thought "to good to be true" I mean I found so many 5 star reviews and thought to myself HOW is that possible?
But I'd seen all the other prices of he companies and they seriously scared the hell out of me. It would have cost me an arm, a leg and god knows what else. I felt like my eyes were going to bleed.
So I went with my gut and took a chance. I emailed Full Flame around 8pm tonight.
Within about 1 hour of the email my boiler had been fixed.
Turns out whoever fixed the boiler the last time with previous tenants had removed a key component to the boiler for whenever the pressure goes down, possibly in the hopes to make more money out of the tenants when the time came, after putting it back and opening the valve then closing it, The pressure was back. HURRAY FOR HOT SHOWERS AGAIN!!!!! Plus he gave me some pointers so it wouldn't happen again on regular maintenance I could do.
Very polite, very friendly... just overall friendly and great.
I'm just so happy not to have to battle the boiling to freezing water with soap in my eyes.

Cannot agree more on previous reviews. Very knowledgeable, paid attention to details and thoroughly serviced my Biasi boiler (which hadn't been checked in years) talking me through the whole process. Very reasonable fee which is fixed (he had actually increased the fee today though he still charged me the old price which was nice of him).
British gas had previously checked my boiler, told me it was old, of poor quality and tried to sell me a new one for 3k. It came out that there is nothing wrong with it, it can potentially run for another 10 years and has very low emissions.

A boiler technician with an actual eye for repair and not replacement!
Having been hugely frustrated with pressure issues on my glow worm boiler and having paid several hundred pounds to British Gas amongst others (who never actually fixed the problem), I decided to take matters into my own hands. I researched the issues myself and set about finding someone whose first reaction would not be to replace my boiler- a problematic task in London!
That man was John @ full flame. He diligently took his time to diagnose the problem and then set about patiently repairing it. Imagine that. He went out of his way to avoid any unnecessary expenditure and I was even able to pay by card at the end. Again, a very novel concept.

A godsend. My tenants' boiler's pressure kept rising beyond the red dial whenever the heating went on for more than a few minutes (likely failed expansion vessel). Basic radiator bleeding didn't do the trick. I called John who gave me advice over the phone on closing off the radiators, then opening the lower radiator nut at the same time as bleeding to use the radiator as a new pressure expansion point. It worked a treat and saved me both a callout and hassle for tenants. A pleasure to deal with and clearly in this profession to help people rather than just make a fast buck!
