J. D.Although I've had regular services since I had a new boiler in 2016, I've not had one by a Wootton's engineer as I've only had cover from EDF and their included annual service once, which was today. All the rest were done with British Gas.
'Big Colin', as he asked to be called was the engineer that came to me. The first thing he said is that he would take longer than others as he does a 'proper' service, this impressed me straight off the bat. He was very detailed in his responses to questions and clearly knew his stuff.
The first thing he found was that the condensate 'trap' (non technical as I cannot remember what he called it), was full and it was blocked! The stuff in there was completely black and it was overflowing, and starting to go up the pipe into the boiler. He said it looks like it had never been cleaned out, when he emptied it into the sink it was full of gritty material.
After that I left him get on with the work as I trusted him. At the end of it he was also the only one who had ever filled in the appropriate service section of the boiler service book. All the others had given me a sheet of paper.
If EDF continue to use Wootton's as their engineers, I will remain with them for my boiler cover.
