Food and cocktails were delicious. Portions were big, especially the chicken teppanyaki which had so much chicken. Service was good, some servers were much more friendly than others. 10% service charge is included in the bill. Food arrived very quickly.

I should have probably ordered something else. The restaurant is very lively and nicely decorated. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. However, the food was very average for me. I ordered Ocean Scallops with a side of noodles and only ended up appreciating the later. The scallops were barely cooked and very lightly seasoned, which does not justify the high price for me.

It’s a very trendy place with the locals, many couples come here. Food is a bit pricey comparing to the quality of food. As an Asian I found the pan-Asian food is not really suited to my taste. The decor is nice, my only problem is that all waitress are wearing dress as a uniform that I don’t think will be completely and it’s a bit cringey.

OMG - what a restaurant, amazing ambiance! And Please do book ahead in time, as they were full on a Monday evening and we just about got a table after an hour long wait, which in the end was totally worth it! The staff are super busy and over loaded, however still very smiling and welcoming. The menu is pretty interesting, and everything was super 😋 Spice and Salty Edamame is a must have! The iceberg with wild mushroom was also impressive. Recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Food was great and very well priced. 11.50 for a 2 course lunch. Also was a fast service which allowed for a quick turn around which is great for lunch. Greated with a hand wipe on entry was a nice touch. The black pepper sauce is my fave dish. Rice portion is perfect enough to help eat the sauce but not too much that it's all left. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely spot for food in Belfast. My daughter is a very fussy eater and even she found lots that she enjoyed. Great cocktails also. Good value for money. Pre booking advised as this is popular. A trip to Belfast wouldn't be complete with going here.

So I’m giving three stars as it isn’t totally bad Pros: great cocktails, nice place, nice staff Cons: the food: it was horrible and so cheap the chicken is so processed and bouncy. They really need to get better quality meat. I have been here about 4/5 times in the last month and each time the food has greatly disappointed me. It’s a good place to go for a buzz and get drunk but the food is gravely disappointing

Food is fantastic. I am allergic to nuts and sesame seeds, so the first time I went to Zen I was nervous that it would be a limited menu I could choose from. I was pleasantly surprised that I could actually have a lot more than a originally thought. The staff go above and beyond for every customer but as soon as they hear you have an allergy or intolerance they are straight over with a matrix and always go through your order with you in detail of what you can and can't have (even if you have been before or are already knowledge about the dishes). They really care about the customers. You feel very safe instantly. The cocktails are also too notch. The picture attached is of Sanpei Chicken. It is honestly one of the nicest dishes I have ever had. Highly recommended restaurant.

A truly lovely experience... the architect/ interior designer who created the interions of this restaurant must have being inspired with greatness.The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were not pestered to leave the premises despite it been quite late and our party been the last one there.There was a lot of talk about the ladies toilets which it seems were something else but I was expecting something with the wow factor when it came to the " mens "but it wasn't to be. Im not complaining ....it was clean etc.but alas nothing to dry my hands..(I had to use my shirt tail).

Wait staff was truly lovely and helpful! The place was clean and the food was serviceable. Based on their menu, we expected Japanese fusion cuisine though what we got was quite different. We ordered Japanese curry, spicy seafood soup with kimchi, and a variety of sushi. What arrived was yellow coconut curry, Tom Kah Gai with seafood and seaweed, and sushi that was only half-identifiable. Again, the food was good but it was not what we expected at all. It's clearly a Thai/Vietnamese kitchen serving a largely Japanese menu. If we had realized this prior to ordering, we would have chosen different menu items.

Incredible food and the staff member who served us was amazing and reallt made the experience. I went with my company last week and he remembered everyones order perfectly while ensuring everyone got their drinks and food in good time and no one was left waiting too long. Highly recommend to anyone to try this place! The samosas and honey chilli chicken was very tasty and I had a vedy high quality experience.

Zen appears to still be the big deal it was years ago. Hasn't really changed a bit. The service is superb, attentive and friendly. The cocktails make it seem like the place to be. But the menu reads like an encyclopedia, a once favourite dish slow cooked pork belly gone, replaced by 200 other things. Salt and chilli feast was anything but a feast, and anything but salt and chilli. The salmon curry was alright but salmon well overcooked, and the surf and turf was underwhelming to say the least. While since I've been, the strip club decor remains, as does the pricey average food unfortunately.

The quality of the food and sushi was terrific. The staff really want you to have a good time and the decoration and atmosphere is terrific. If Japanese food is your bag then I can't recommend this place enough! I particularly recommend the eel sushi so tasty. Great find, really delicious food. I had the Oysters with Lemon and Tabasco, soft shell crab and spicy fish soup - all three dishes were perfectly cooked. Good venue, quick and efficient service. Would 100% return and recommend to others. Beer on draught is good but only one choice. Large selection of different dishes on the menu so should have no issue finding a dish.

Gluten free menu available. Good value for money, we paid £77 for two having 3 course meal plus drinks on a Saturday night. Will definitely go again. Lovely decor inside and very clean toilets. I'm not much for spicy food but this place was delicious and have an enormous variety of food for all eaters. Great options for vegetarians and vegans (two of the group said great variety). Price was also really good. Was £40 each for a starter main and side and two cocktails. And the portions were massive so definitely worth it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Gave us good suggestions for drinks and starters. They were really funny as well. Would definitely recommend this place as a night out for drinks and food.

Overall Zen was a nice experience. The servers were quick and attentive. The cocktail menu was great for anyone who likes a cocktail and good non alcoholic selection too. Food wise, we likely played it safe in what we ordered. The starters were great, particularly liked the crispy duck pancakes. Good size also. The mains we had were tasty, however lacked a bit of punch. Again, likely because we played it safe but we had both of these mains in another Japanese restaurant in Belfast before and preferred them to be a bit more flavoursome. We had the Japanese Style Curry and the Mango duck. The only main critic would be the mains weren't very hot, just warm so they did get cold if you didn't eat quick. No desert menu? Would have liked the option. The restaurant is clean and covid protocols in place. I think it would be good in a bigger group, get some of the share platters on the go.

Went here for new years eve with a group of friends. Cannot praise them enough. There wasn't options for vegetarians on the menu but the restaurant was more than accommodating. It was £50 or so for a 7 course meal which I think is quite reasonable, and I have to say I didn't leave anything on the plate. Every meal was amazing and my meat eater counter parts agreed with theirs. My partner hates shellfish yet scoffed down their scallops and oysters. To. Make you enjoy something you dislike is no easy feat. Nice decorations, good atmosphere, excellent cocktails and brilliant entertainment. Definitely worth a visit.

I have attended Zen on several occasions and never been disappointed. The service is always exceptional from the moment you're greeted at the doors and throughout your meal. Not the nest experience so far. Booked a table for 3 at 8 pm. Got the seat at 8.40 after I went to complain with one of the waiters. At least we spent those 40 minutes at the bar. The bartender wasn't friendly at all. Just a flat face incapable of express anything. SMALL bar, maybe like 8 9 stools, very narrow. Not the place where you want to spend more than 30 minutes waiting. Eventually got a seat, ordered a starter each and a main course. Food was lovely. Service was very slow tho. Maybe due to the restaurant completely full. Got 2 crispy crab starter and some. Maki rolls. Delicious. Main course I personally got the surf n turf. Lobster and "Irish steak". Lovely flavours. Just one thought about the steak, It was more likely a snitzel. Very very thin. Had some wine, beers and cocktails. All prepared well. Couldn't give more than 3 stars tho. I was even ready to give 2 stars initially but the waiter and food quality made me stick a star more! Would come back, maybe not on a weekend as It might happen the same we had experienced today.

Alex was there on point with his natural flow and superb customer focus and fun. The food (went for sharing sushi x 4) was well chosen by the chef and fresh as you could get. Tasted Devine followed by a ‘small’ plate each, duck, salt and chilli squid and prawn taosts- all delicious and washed down with several beautifully made cocktails. Attention throughout the restaurant to best practices adherence and the most beautiful dividers between tables - made the ambiance less clinical and intimate! A Restraunt that offers Japanese and Asian cuisine. The decor is dark with muted lighting but it isn't oppressive. It has the opposite,a calming effect. The staff are attentive, polite and efficient. It has a good selection of dishes and wines to choose from. It was a first time visit for our group of 4, each of us have our own tastes. My own is for spicy food whilst the rest of the family range from vegetarian to mildly spiced dishes and traditional dishes. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this restraunt without hesitating. It has a good selection of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails. Next time you are in Belfast book a table or just walk in, it is popular. We were there on a Tuesday evening and the place was humming with dinners.

I don't leave reviews very often despite eating out a lot usually a few times every fortnight but the experience I had was so fantastic. I was home for the weekend and Zen is an old favourite of ours, living in Edinburgh we get a lot of really over the top authentic Japanese restaurants where as Zen has established a wonderful comfortable approachable middle ground. I called the day of and got a table for 6 people at 5:30, under the condition we had the table back by 7:30 I thought this was fair. 2 of our party was running late and we where early so we sat at our table for about 30 minutes with complimentary little crackers and we had a few drinks. From start to finish we where cared for I believe by the head maitre d, very friendly professional Japanese man fresh water was refilled fast, food was an experience made even more dramatic by the head waiter who really loves his work and when I asked for the bill at 19:45 I was aware we where running late as agreed but no fuss was made, we tipped well, paid quickly and left happy, jolly and satisfied. This is a kind business and an institution in Belfast proud to call myself a long time customer.

Great atmosphere on weekend nights but is quite busy so there can be a wait even if you've booked. That doesn't bother me as it's usually a chance to get a cocktail at the bar area while waiting. The sizzling wasabi monkfish tails are my favourite main course. The spicy diced beef is a great starter. Don't miss the chilli green beans side and zenpresso cocktail is a great dessert.

I really recommend the spring rolls for vegetarians and the crispy duck for meat eaters, seriously yum starters. Crispy chilli chicken is a very good main but I wasn't blown away but the mixed veg stir-fry with chilli sauce TBH. Cocktails are also good, strawberry daiquiri was dope but could use more alcohol (same as everywhere TBF). Well priced and lunch deal is like £10. My only complaint is the front of house guy was a bit of a grumpy so and so, plus he didn't know what dishes contained peanut and it made my anxious my friend was going to need a trip to A&E 😅
