A lovely area of green within the busy city. A large lake and lots of greenery to walk around.
If you are planning to walk around all of it, it is intersected with some roads, but each section is fenced of carefully, so there's no chance of little ones running out into the road inadvertently.
There are 2 play parks within the park, both boast a huge slide and lots of equipment.

We love it here! The park is amazing for the kids they have hours and hours of fun here, the ice-cream man is conveniently at the top of the park (he's also reasonably priced!) and we love the pedalos 😜 The park in whole is such a lovely walk, the conservatory is also worth a visit and so cheap to enter too!

Surprisingly big park that had some awesome botanical features/gardens as well as a nice lake and park for the kids. There is an on site cafe, ice cream/dessert/tea shop on site along with an ice cream van on the other side. It was 19 degrees when we went so the park was massively busy although it didn't stop the kids from having fun!

Lovely park along with a huge lake. A good place for family activity or spending alone time. Also you can go for fishing on the lake.
V. V.
This is an amazing place with a wonderful lake where you can watch swans, ducks and seagulls!
There is a very nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the lake.
Nearby is a big park with beautiful gardens, a large playground and a botanical garden.
W. R.
Absolutely beautiful park with a variety of themed places, children's playground, lake with swans, ducks, birds, pigeons, Roath botanic gardens, ice van and kiosk, a lighthouse, cafe with a seating platform overlooking the lake.
S. M.
My favourite park in Cardiff! - amazing in all weathers but I personally love Autumn 🍂 - plenty to do, children's play park, basketball court, cafe and ice cream van! A nice lil day out :)
P. M.
This park is ideal for strolls at any time of the day. There is a massive lake stretching half of the park, with paths passing the lake and also a botanical garden with flowers. I recommend you to visit it.
D. R.
lovely large space with something for everyone. Boating Lake, ( with lots of birds !) Rose garden , children's play area, toilets and cafe. Can be quite busy , but well worth a visit !..
S. A.
Always, always my go to place! Absolutely amazing this park. The lake, the birds, the walk around the lake, and around the flower garden, the lot. Not much beats this park if I am honest, and I have travelled around. The cafe is wonderful by the waterfront. Personal favourite is the rhubarb cake. The best ice-cream is as you enter from the main gate, in the shack, they got some luxury ice-cream options. Rowing boats are the ones to go for.
C. B.
This is a beautiful, relaxing park...you could imagine victorian people walking around here.x Boating lake, park for the kids, very clean and tidy, we went here every evening of our stay.x

Well kept park and gardens below the lake. Lovely space to explore with all the family.

Lovely morning walk in this park. Very scenic and always enjoyable. Cafe available with beautiful lake views, indoor and outside seating, toilets and ice cream van for those interested. Plenty of shade in hot weather and lots of bench seating available for a rest or just to enjoy the scenery.
A. z.
Very nice family park all in one.... play area, lake, track and a small plant nursery every thing...
J. G.
A good family afternoon short walk. The lake desperately needs attention though... With algae overgrown and no control of local fauna and flora. Lots of promises made by councillors but no action for years.
C. E.
Wonderful place. So clean and well maintained. A huge population of birds, beautiful flowers and plenty of space. It's definitely worth checking out the greenhouse too!
J. J.
A wonderful place to take kids and grandchildren, lots to see, lots of space, the ice cream van is a very popular with everyone. Apart from the play area there is a massive lake with a whole host of birds, including swans, ducks, geese and coots, in the summer months they usually have rowing boats you can hire, there is also a large green house where you can see plants from around the world and I think there is also a butterfly house ( from what I remember) the park is also popular with runners. The park also has a cafe/restaurant and in addition to the ice cream van there is so a shop that also sells ice cream and other snacks.
E. M.
Great place for a walk. Lots of ducks, geese and swans.

A beautiful park, a jewel in Cardiff's Crown. Lake is beautiful as are the botanical gardens. Great kids park too. Cafe there too. Boats don't seem to be used at the moment though. Easy free parking on the street alongside the park.

I love Roath park not least because it reminds me of spending time with my daughter but if you are thinking of visiting, do! It's a lovely park with lots of fowl to spot and maybe you'll spy the odd terrapin!
On a sunny day you can grab an ice cream and wrestle with the inevitable drips as you walk. it's wholesome and lovely. Go.

Had the best time. Even though it was a bit cold it was gorgeous and there were loads of birds. We fed the ducks and they were very cute. Advice: The ducks hate fruit and berries but loved our sunflower seeds
C. M.
An area that's good for children and adults alike. There's a lake which in the summer has boats to hire out.
The children's play area caters for a wide range of ages from 1-14
Take a stroll around the park and lake and just enjoy the relaxing time it takes.
D. P.
Well maintained park with a beautiful lake, cafe, paddle boats. Good day out with children.
T. C.
Really clean, no litter, toilets had plenty of toilet paper, hand wash and sanitiser. Even the bins were in nice little cupboards! Very peaceful even though it was very busy, and rightly so, it's a gem 💎
D. G.
Lovely weather here and a real part of Cardiff. Jimi Hendrix slept on the small island back in 1967..

One of my very favourite spots in Cardiff. As a student at Cardiff University, Roath Park was a lovely escape for me during busy periods to have a walk and a cup of tea to clear my head before heading back to the library. When friends visited, they enjoyed sitting by the lake or having a peaceful meander through the botanical garden. These days, when I'm visiting the city, I like to bring my little ones to the park to spot swans and ducks, enjoy an ice cream and play in the excellent playground with the really long slide!
P. W.
Great place for a stroll - flower beds, trees, a children's playground, a lake and a cafe to explore.
R. B.
A gorgeous park on the outside of Cardiff. With a large boating lake, gardens and play area there's plenty for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the botanical gardens where we were able to feed the fish and see the tropical plants. Fish food and entry was cheap at 70p for the fish food and £2 something for entry.
P. D.
Hugely popular landmark in Cardiff. I've visited regularly for over 40 years and to be honest it hasn't changed too much in that time. Lovely to walk around the lake and take pictures of the monument, which on the day I visited was looking fabulous. The only downside was that the rose garden looked a little drab, but I guess that could be because I visited in April. Highly recommended
S. G.
It’s not just the lake and park that’s fun - make sure you take a full tour of the botanical gardens and see the massive koi carp!
C. M.
Great place we come once a week it has so many places to see
I saw a kingfisher made my day the roses garden is beautiful the lake is quite big always different birds swans geese coots herons
Just a beautiful place to visit
Come and enjoy

D. C.
Lovely afternoon such a wonderful place so many people enjoying the space and yet meeting other people with children loving every part of the playground and dog friendly superb. Loved the unclosed garden with all the different plants children feeding the fish. ducks and I think turtle's . Will definitely be going again .
J. B.
Absolutely lovely park, well laid out with peaceful strolls through the flower beds, a large playground for the kids and a lake with boating facilities when available. Cafe was well worth a visit and it wasn't overly busy at around 11:00 on a Sunday. Will definitely visit when in the area again, hopefully on the boating lake.
K. C.
Lovely walk around the lake, nice cafe, yummy cakes and cookies. Good ice-cream van. Dog friendly. Great park for kids and fab for picnics
M. G.
Great walk around the lakes. Coffee shops, icecreams Road gardens, large children play area and boating lake
d. b.
Beautifull place , take the walk around the lake , get a coffee from the cafe which are the best , then there's usually a ice-cream man on the other side of the lake . Good for a nice relaxing walk . Also good if you have kids as huge playpark , just watch out for the geese , trust me they ain't more scared of you than you are of them lol
W. H.
This place is amazing beautiful great place to take the kids.
S. M.
Roath Park is a lovely place to go for a walk. There are several paths you can take to avoid too much human traffic. It can be very busy. Beautiful plants and flowers though
H. A.
Beautiful park, unfortunately the cafe was closed when we got there so we couldn't enjoy the scenery with a nice drink!
L.
Definitely a lovely place for a little adventure and autumn walk 🙌. Ice cream, coffee or snacks available (even during lockdown). There's a park (play area) for children and lovely gardens in the summer. Perfect day out for the family, a couple or friends. The only pitfall is there isn't a lot of lighting when it's dark which isn't great in the wintery nights, but the lighthouse on the lake is lit up and very pretty.
S. J. W.
A beautiful, clean and well presented place
Always loved this place. It's a real oasis in the city. The ornamental gardens have some amazing old tree specimens, fantastic flower bed displays and plenty of courts for basketball, tennis etc.
The recreational area or reck as it's locally known. Is a huge space where you can meet up with friends and play a few games of football, rugby, Frisbee...whatever takes your fancy.
The lake area is full of different birds. Ducks, coots, geese, swans, pigeons, gulls and cormorants are usually in abundance. There are many more species of birds around if you like uour wildlife.
You often get followed by the geese, ducks and swans looking for food. Please don't feed them bread if you do go. They like lettuce, fruit, peas, sweetcorn and other salad like veg.
In the summer you can rent rowing-boats and pedalos.
If you are walking your dog around the lake please keep them on a leash and remember, you are in there space and don't let your dog antagonise the birds.
L.
Roth Park is my favorite place. It has beautiful rose garden, play ground, stunning lake and many blossoms trees!
W. S.
I've lived in cardiff for over 50 years and Roath Park is one of the best park walks I've been to and I never get bored every time I go there. It's a lovely walk around the lake and down to the Rose Gardens with its beautiful flowers and streams. Or if you want you can go into the giant greenhouse and look at all the exotic plants, take a walk back towards the lake for a mr whippy 99 on a warm day or cross the lake for a nice coffee at terra nova. Loads to do and see. Great park for the kids and you can hire pedalos and rowing boats if your feeling romantic 😀
F. L.
Great park, tough fishing but will definitely be back.
P. N.
Nice walk around the lake, clean with restaurant and icream parlour nearby. Small play are for kids also handy. Definitely recommend as it's not too crowded....
S. G.
A good day out for the kids with plenty to do. Plenty of benches for the oldies. Parking hit and miss. Cafe and ice cream sellers. Swans on the lake. Long walks.
J. P.
Nice park for family and friends to play
P. E.
A beautiful park with plenty of toilets and places to eat and drink.
R. M.
Love this place, just down the road from my house, great for a stroll, get some air into the lungs, think we're very lucky to have this gem in Cardiff. Cafe, ice cream van and shop, public convenience, gardens, rowing on the lake and a great kiddies park, what more is there to love.
L. W.
Try and find the Snoopy figures. Lovely walk with pretty flower garden. 🌼
R. h.
Great little walk around the lake ,good toilet facilities lovely little park.
H. N.
Lovely lake, lots of water loving birds around.. not good if you're afraid of birds! Its beautiful and has lots of lovely flowers and trees to see in the gardens.
B. M.
Quite a nice park in a fairly good area. Small children's play park is fairly well equipped. Nice walk around the big lake. A lakeside cafe with outside seating is useful for meeting up.
B. J.
Great park and perfect for a walk, play and ice cream :) Just a pity the boat hire was closed and I wanted to take my little one for her first boat ride.
N. W.
Wonderful park with a nice long walk. Seed is available to buy for the various bird life there. Please do not give them bread as it pollutes the water and is junk food to them. There are birds everywhere and you can see them nesting which is amazing but you must be respectful and not get too close to them. These are large birds which will defend their young if you do not respect distance or are rowdy in their presence. There is a boating lake with boats for hire. Lighthouse in the lake. Some of the trees have plaques to tell you what species they are. Great for winter walks as it has a tarmac path all the way around. There is a play park for the children. To be honest we have not discovered all of it as it is so big. They is also a greenhouse with rare plants that you have to pay to enter. If I could give more stars I would!!!
J.
Great Park, still a pleasure even when full. Lots of the birds have young which was great to watch. Would recommend a visit.
R. P.
A lovely park, beautiful and peaceful. Much missed from my college days of 40 years ago. Today it is even nicer.
P. W.
A beautiful park and lake with a variety of areas and views. The lake is the centrepiece and we had a lovely walk around it, looking at the many birds and their young. The cafe was using the upper deck of the lakeside platform as an outdoor seating area which was well attended. The lake had a one way system going clockwise which nearly everyone was following. An enjoyable visit 👍
A. J.
Parking is only on the street, so can be awkward for a day out. The park itself is great. We'll set out, maintained, and has so much history which was a surprise to find.
D. G.
Fantastic public space, plenty of things to do for the family. Lots of dog walkers and joggers. Large children play areas.
G. S. M.
It is a wonderful garden with a beautiful nature, and there is a children's play area and a lake full of birds, that is why it is suitable for family outings.
L.
Lovely park with big lake, huge trees, flowers, swans ducks, coots, squirrels.
Great play area for ages up to 7 years old.
Tearoom and ice creams
Lots of places to sit.
A pity some if the swings weren't there, but our grand children aged 4 and 6 had a great time.
D. O.
Nice children play area, 2 nice cafe's plenty of seating benches, large area for walking the dog, parking all around the park,
A. W.
Always a great place to come to. It's easy to find and when you're here you forget you're in the city. You can hire a paddle or rowing boat on the lake. There is a decently sized play park for the kids. Plenty of benches for sitting (literally a bench every few meters). You can buy bird seeds to feed the ducks, geese, swans and all other birds. If you're a visitor to Cardiff you can't go home until you've been here!
T. C.
First time visiting roath park with my children and they all enjoyed it, plenty of room for the kids to run free and have fun. The conservatory was a great little experience for them to see the insects and animals inside and all the kinds of flowers and plants. Would of wished the paddle boats could of been used that day.
I.
A great place to spend an afternoon strolling about. There is a small play park for kids and more than enough wildlife to keep them entertained. For adults, it's just a really beautiful place to walk around. Beware though, this place is crawling with runners at most tines of the day!
S. D.
This is a truly beautiful place to walk/run around, kids can burn off some energy in the park, go for a bike ride around there.
Pop into the cafe for warm if your out on a chilly day.
Have a pedal across the lake in the summer on the boats, feed the ducks etc. You could easily spend hours here and it doesn't have to cost anything there is plenty of space for a picnic on the grass in the park area or on the benches.
I often use this as a place to run around your always guaranteed a good picture especially if the sun is setting.
Also a good place for finding and hiding rocks if you have younger children you'll understand!!
L. K.
Due to the restrictions there was a very distinctive signage telling us which way we could walk around the park safely which is great.
We walked the full park and really enjoy the scenery, it was lovely to be able to stop and get ice cream as well. There were a few places you could get a hot drink if you preferred it.
The children enjoyed the play park for a short amount of time, the climbing frame is great it would be five stars if the swings are in good condition, but some were missing.
Had a great time and we would go back again in a couple of weeks.
B. O.
Beautiful place to walk, cafe is brill. Lighthouse was blue and pink for 'Baby loss awareness week' in October.
D. L.
Whatever the time of year, this park is beautiful! Parking is a challenge on a busy day, but not impossible. There's a walk around the lake, a play park for kids, boating if you feel like it, coffee and ice-cream. Lots of shady benches to sit out of the sun (or the rain) to enjoy the view. We visit Cardiff every year and have to fit in at least one visit to this lovely space
D. R.
Lovely area for walks, picnics, feeding ducks/geese/swans. Big bag of Bird feed is £1 from the boathouse.
Play area is quite big. Can get quite busy when the sun's out.
Parking is usually possible for free around outside perimeter of park.
D.
Taking a stroll around the lake and horticultural gardens is a social affair.
Families of Geese, Swans and other wildfowl entertain you and the Pettigrew's landscape is brought to life with beautiful planted areas and wild bits.
Plenty of amenities and coffee or ice cream to keep you going. A good children's play area with slides and climbing frames plus boats for hire.
Y. C.
Beautiful rose garden full of stunning blossom trees. Favourite walk with my dog.
D. B.
What a beautiful park to walk around, so neat &tidy the layout with all the trees is gorgeous, a walk around the lake is a must
R. J.
Absolutely gorgeous spent a couple of hours here with my daughter in law and my 2 granddaughters, they loved it, truly a lovely place well worth a visit

I've been walking in this park for ages as I go to the high school nearby. It's a great place to go walk around there's plenty of ducks, geese and swan all over the park (the ducklings and signets are especially cute in the spring time)not to mention the green area and the two playgrounds are very pretty as well with plenty places to explore.
M. L.

Wonderful haven of calm, yet surprisingly close to Cardiff city centre. One of my favourite places for a family trip, or walking the dog. Beautiful grounds with mixed mature trees, rose garden, boating lake and glasshouse with tropical plants. Good café and refreshments.

Parc Roath Park in Cardiff, Wales. This park and open space is a large Victorian park and very popular with residents and visitors. It has many facilities includin botanic garden boating and play ground with climbing frames for children. The park is owned and managed by Cardiff County Council. We enjoyed our visit here feeding the many ducks and swans which occupy the big pond or lake.
J. R.
Lovely park, gardens and a lake for the adults and the children x
S. P.

A memorable walk down the park when the sun is out on a cold breezy winter day 😌
C. N.
A fantastic park that features a small cafe that sells great cakes, boating if the weather allows and a great trail for jogging, dog walking or just strolling. There is also a children's play park, a botanic centre and a good number of benches and bins. Overall the park is very clean and well kept and on sunny days is a great day out on it's own.

Roath park must be one of the most visited parks in Cardiff. It has beautiful rose gardens still looking good during coronavirus. They are operating a one way system from the promenade around the lake.it is still full of swans duck's and geese many with their chicks.the whole park is still kept clean and tidy .during this virus the toilets and the conservatory are closed.
K. -. M. L.
Love going here to see all the swans and the little squirrel in the park.
Z. T.
Roath Park day or night is beautiful. I love walking around the lake and seeing all the geese, moorhens and other types of bird that frequent there! During the day you can get ice creams and watch the day go by. A cool children's park is here. Along with the botanical gardens and a large green. Lovely.

Always a great place to visit whether your young or old. Visit the Botanical Gardens , take a stroll through the Rose Gardens or walk further on to Roath Park Lake. Children can play in the Play Area and have an ice cream. Walk your dog around the lake with plenty of benches for a rest and to enjoy the views. Hire a boat or sit on the Promenade and take in the scenery. The Light House has been painted and is lit up at night, which looks lovely. Whether you take a picnic , eat in the Terra Nova Cafe or have an ice cream you won't be disappointed.

Was so nice to get out and about, the walking route was well organised due to covid, beautiful, clean, safe and just a perfect place to be, lovley for the children
J. J.
Beautiful park with Botanical areas, lake, boats, play area however, pathways are covered in bird droppings that do not appear to be ever sanitised. The cafe and toilet is also in need of cleaning. Why can't we have more facilities that offer different options.

J. C.
Great park, although it was busy no one was on top of anyone and nice lake.
G. B.
Lovely Marshfeild Ice cream at Roath Park in the sunshine. Its a 5km walk all the way round the top of the lake and taking in all of the playing feilds. Lots of places to stop and relax on benches or just sat on the grass.
I. W.
Lovely cafe, nice views across the lake.
H. M.
A fine park. Large, varied, watery bits, bridges, squirrel filled, conservatory/botanical area. Much to appreciate.
S.
A very warm park with very friendly people and a great day for the kids! Ice cream van available too!
s. t.
Lovely walk in the winter sunshine. Very organised with a one way system around the lake.
S. R.
We Cardiffians tend to take it for granted. Lovely park overall.
E. D.
Lovely area to go for a walk, get some ice cream, or feed the birds.
C. H.
Great sitting in the sunshine watching the wildlife on the lake and in the trees.
N. A.
Beautiful setting. Nice area to walk around, there is also a little cafe on the grounds if you would like a coffee and a snack
A. T.
Beautifully maintained park. A pleasure to walk around. Public facilities available too.
J. P.
Superb walk around the beautiful lake with fresh air guaranteed ☺️
C. A.
Great for a late night walk
C. F.
Lovely walk around the lake, though after all the hot dry weather there is poisonous algae so boating etc has been stopped until it's clear!
G. H.
Took an evening walk around the lake, really peaceful and full of wildlife
u. o.
Very nice relaxing walk aroundthe lake. It's busy at weekends.
A. G.
Great day out, plenty to do for adults and kids Nice cafe and ice cream
R. A.
A great time to visit at any time of the year.
A. M.
Roath Park is a lovely way to spend an hour or two walking around. The park offers a beautiful scenic route as well a lake which has many ducks and swans. The ducks and swans walk freely on the path which is lovely to see, with many of the locals feed them, however sometimes it is a little discouraging to see this as it causes quite a stir among the animals and they can turn nasty fighting over the food.
The park hosts a play area for children, has a rose garden as well as a cafe. There is toilets located towards the entry of the park and are clean.
The only disadvantage to the park is when it rains, it looks miserable and there is no shelter.
If traveling on foot from Cardiff centre it is quite a walk so I recommend catching a bus or getting a taxi to the park.
Overall Roath Park is a nice park to visit.
M. O.
A lovely place! So very clean! A HUGE duck population! A nice park for little ones to play in! Boat hire, and more! This is a lovely place for all ages to visit! It’s highly accessible to wheelchair / buggy users and is quite easy to find your way around! Roath Park is a great place to go bird/duck spotting and to collect feathers! It is a very relaxing place and the majestic swans make it that little more peaceful! After your relaxing walk around the pond you can go and purchase a high quality (delicious) ice cream! Roath Park is definitely a must to take your children for a day out! I do highly recommend! I would highly recommend also for those who want to go spotting! A great place!
b. i.
Love this place, walk round the lake on a sunny afternoon then sit and have a bite to eat, cant beat it
D. H.
Roath park lake is good for your wellbeing its always a pleasure to visit no matter what the season

z. h.
One of my favourite places in Cardiff, a lovely lake for a walk.
T. C.
Roath park, well what can I say? Been walking around Roath park for over 20 years and it’s one of those places that you can never get bored of walking around. The walk around the lake is wonderful, especially in good weather or early evenings in the summer.
A very romantic location of Cardiff and would recommend to any families as the facilities are great with a nice cafe, ice cream, gardens and public toilets.
L. A.
Nice place to walk, with lovely gardens and a huge lake 👌
A. H.
Had a lovely afternoon at Roath park lake with my bestie Jennifer Halstead baby ducks were so cute
G. D.
It's s very nice park for a walk even in the rain
R. W.
Amazing place to spend a few hours and easy parking in near by streets you can hire a boat or just wander and explore the gardens
M. B.
It's an amazing park for my children to play and interact with other children

Great walk around a fantastic lake and superb park
A. R.
Nice and huge place for walking, running or just sitting. Peaceful.
K. G.
Lovely hour down Roath park lake feeding the birds and a ice cream
L. C.
Roath Park opened to the public in 1894. It’s a lovely place to spend an hour or two. Plenty of free street parking around the park. There is lots to explore plus a cafe, playground and clean, free toilets with baby change.
M. R.
A lovely park with nice lake and gardens. Beautiful rose garden.
P. P.
There are toilets by the play park. Very hot the day we went but the kids enjoyed anyway. The park is good for all ages.
K. T.
Lovely place to.walk does.get very busy during holidays. To park the car
P. R.
Lovely place to walk, or sit down and relax. Good place for photography or painting. It has a nice little park for kids to play in.
l. p.
I feel awful about a 4 star grade but the playpark needs to be expanded. Its a tiny park compared to the visitor numbers. Other than that the place as a whole is beautiful and well worth a visit anytime of year. Just dont expect to get a swing.
D. M.
Very pleasant park in a quiet area of Cardiff. The lake is much larger than I was expecting and the park covers a much larger area than I thought it was going to be. We had lunch in the cafe. The pizzas are much bigger than I was expecting, couldn't manage all of it!
M. R.
The park is well situated in the center and has many nearby landmarks visible. I wouldn’t go out of the way to visit the park .. the lake needs a bit of cleaning to make it more pleasing to the eye .. ducks and swans walk right up to you for food. Kids would be delighted by the same and it’s worth the visit for that !
L. B.
Really relaxing place. Walk, read, have a drink, watch the nature changing along the seasons... Peaceful.
E. B.
I'm so lucky to have this in my home city. Its great for all ages. It has a large playground (it can get busy). It has a boating lake and beautiful flower gardens (perfect for a picnic). You can also pay a small fee to visit the conservatory which is like a mini rainforest. You can buy food to feed the fish and terrapins.
r. j.
It is okay but the lake often develops algae which the inept council is slow at clearing.
M.
Rather park is good for ice cream, walk with stroller, children's slides and run around the lake. Lots of interesting bird wildlife to see. Please don't feed the birds this is why they have no fear of humans.
구.
the park was so beautiful
one of the Must Go kind of place
J. C.
A lovely place to walk with your partner. Or the pets. Gardens are lush. And the lake large. The people on the boats were having fun. Lovely cafe. And love creams to be had. Plenty of space for a picnic and benches to sit.
H.
Awesome, beautiful place to take a walk around, visit the park or spend an hour on a pedalo. It's also very well maintained, I've never noticed a significant amount of litter and ducks never go hungry.
B. R. B.
The kids always have to a great time feeding the ducks, geese, swan and pigeons. The playground also offers a wide variety of swings, slides and rides. The tranquil rose garden and lake are also very inviting.
s. A.
The lake is really beautiful, loved the playground and the garden
S. J.
Excellent day out for a walk around the lake and the children can burn off some energy in the playground. Make sure you pop into conservatory and feed the koi carp.
A. A.
Not bad but not worthy:) The castle is amazing better than this park.
J. H.
Beautiful lake teaming with wildlife, ideal for a weekend walk. The children’s play park caters for all ages and the ice cream shops are perfect for hot sunny days. We didn’t try the pedalos but they looked a lot of fun!
S. B.
Roath Park seems to have gone downhill in recent years. The gardens look a bit neglected. Staff cuts? However, the tropical glasshouse is worth a visit. Picture shows a beautiful air-rooted orchid.
A. W.
I love this place and have done since I was a child.Great fun for adults and kids alike if you hire a pedalo or take out a rowing boat.
Playground for the smaller children and either an ice cream van's delights or a variety of flavours at the shop.
Café sells beverages and basic snacks to eat in or out.
A lovely walk round the lake meeting squirrels, ducks, geese and swans as you go.
Peanuts will delight the squirrels but leave the white bread at home as it's not healthy for ducks ( though swans may have wholemeal!)
Best to make up some healthy food with oats, dry cat food, wholegrain cereal, corn, seeds, or buy it when you get there!
Find out all about Captain Scott and his expedition which is remembered by the lighthouse, newly repaInted.
If you have enough energy walk through to the beautiful flower gardens!
S. G.
Mid week its a lovley relaxing walk. I avoid weekends and bank hols as not a fan of screaming kids.coffee shop and icecream van for refreshments. Lots of birds so excitable dogs need a lead.
G. W.
Amazing place! Nice to walk and enjoy the nature
N. A.
Lovely. Very clean, excellent park for the children
T. c.
The ice cream is lush and scenery is beautiful
A. D.
Great walk around lake Great playground for the kids well worth a look 👍 👌
K. L.
Great place to relax, beautiful gardens and lake. Pedalos and boats are fun. The kids play area has a good variety of equipment. Has food and toilet facilities
A. C.

T. B.
So beautiful ❤❤. With coffee shop, ice cream shop and many other things to see and do.
D. M.
Love it here. Spend 3 hours every Friday feeding the birds and ducks....lovely place.
S. N.
Lovely walk to Roath Park with my dachshund and beautiful view.
K. B.
A lovely place to walk. Completely flat amoungst beautiful gardens. Some areas in need of a little TLC and a few too many geese for my liking
R. N.
Lovely park with many a pleasant walk and spot to view the nature 🙂✌️
C. L.
Nice, picturesque park with a spacious cafe. Good for a family wonder or meeting up with friends. Great for families also as plenty of children's play equipment and communal areas.
D. A.
Lovely park/pond. Wonderful place to walk around. Relaxing waters with plenty of sights to see.
Park is a little overcrowded, very few activity equipment, surprisingly.
Would recommend the walk to anyone who enjoys being outside.
I'd reccomend the park to anyone with children 5+. Or maybe 3+ if you have multiple children with at least one being aged 5+, due to a lot of the equipment being for older children, and how crowded it is, my worry is a smaller child would get lost in the crowed or knocked into.
A. M.
It is good sight seeing for someone came from more of desert land as myself, but not the best ever for sure :)
M. L.
Lovely park with a play park for kids and a huge pond/lake which you can hire paddle boats for (but unfortunately not operating when we went). Loads of swans and geese (possibly as much as 100 of each) and other aquatic birds. Also has a butterfly house (but think you have to pay for that). Well worth a visit
S. F.
Roath Park is always a great place to go for a long walk or just a quite place to sit among the roses garden. What's really interesting is the new coffee shack that's opened up on the other side near Cardiff High. Jiveys, really cute place for a cuppa on the go. The light house looks amazing after it's refurbishment and the park is getting a clean up.
s. l.
What a lovely park!
S. E.
Love Roath Park. Beautiful gardens, and then there is the lake. You can also have tea and cake in the Terra Nova cafe, or buy a delicious ice cream at the kiosk. Beautiful place to visit
J.

r. m.
A nice walk round the lake and gardens 👍
J. I.
Great place for sunny days, ice cream everywhere and views 4 dayzzz
J. C.
It's a large park, with lots of children and a clock in a filthy lake. Meh...
K. 2.
I've always liked Roath Park since I was young myself, it's a good walk and has some interesting history.
Also it teaches children how to be kind and careful around wild birds such as geese and swans, you can walk quite close to the birds and they are magnificent to watch.
The park has a wide variety of walking areas, the forest area, lake and children's play area and not forgetting the flower gardens with the green house and then lastly the large playing field.
Great place to go with anyone of any age and even walk your dogs to, lovely little cafe to that does sandwiches and cakes plus the ice cream truck is always near by.
C. B.
Beautiful walk on a summers day. A lovely park for the children, plenty of benches to sit . An ice cream van and an ice cream shop the other side. A nice little cafe with small toilets.
m. “. m.
There are ducks and swans and smaller version of swans, some of them stand on one leg but secretly watch you through lazer eyes ready to engage wings and missile themselves into you were you to venture too close. There are boats that are wood and sometimes do a 360 flip if the waves are too big from the swans flapping their wings. There are trees full of wood, not lava, in all shapes and sizes which sing a merry tune to warm the hearts of even the most hardened non - cat person. If you follow your nose and dance like a winged horse you might find the indoor garden centre that will alight your mind with a cacophony of smells and sights that make it seem as if you are but a cloud gazing down upon a city of pollen.
M. P.
Very pretty park and lake. Good for a walk around. Nice kids area, gardens and space to play football. Cracking hammock location
I. F.
Well kept grounds, nicely laid out, good play area - something for all the family.
J. P.
Nice to go for a xmas stroll around the whole lake and park looking at the swans and other birds with a flask and cake
A. G.
Nice urban park with cafe, toilets, children playground, botanical gardens and lovely short flat walk around the lake. There is no car park, but plenty of free parking on the roads.
A. H.
Full of lovely memories and the floral park looks a treet. Just to sit and watch the people and children is a pleasure . The west end could do with a little clean up but it'a lovely way to spend a couple of hours walking, sitting or taking the children to the playground.
C. M.
Lovely park in Cardiff suburbs. Visited Terra Nova cafe. Unfortunately they had problem with power so nothing hot (not even milk) but wonderful selection of cakes catering for vegans and also gluten free. Definitely recommend a visit
L. D.
I don't think you can get any better than Roath Park in a city. It's the hidden gem hidden between the cities many bustling streets. It don't matter if you walk around at 6am or 8pm.. you're always going to enjoy it.
J. M.
Love this park. A nice stroll in the rose garden, a coffee from the cafe with a sit down on a bench to watch the swans and ducks. Or maybe a lovely icecream from the van. What a lovely tranquil way to spend an afternoon.
E. W.
Roath Park is nicest place I've been 2 in my life😁it has everything beautiful flower beds a gorgeous lake with Swans & Ducks ! There's a play area 4 children with slides swings etc! It is well looked after😍
R. g.
Fantastic park, my two boys ages 4/5 love it there
S. S.
A lovely place to visit, although the recent cones added around the lake make parking somewhat difficult. The swans and birds are what make this place special.
Lovely Victorian era gardens particularly the rose garden in the summer and the green house houses some wonderful fish, turtles and tropical plants which I don’t believe you can find anywhere else in Cardiff.
There’s a lovely cafe, clean public toilets including accessible toilets and entry fee to the botanic green house makes it accessible for all.
There’s also a boating hire including park for children to play in.
R. C.
Good place for walk and suitable for all ages.
A. A.
It's a nice place to spend for holiday
G. P.
Love Roath Park, nature, fresh air, coffee and a fast rc speedboat. What could be better.

S. M.
Stunning park for a stroll or run. Big playground for the kids and boating lake very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.
H. A.
So beautiful place.
M. K. D.
I was dog training and using for distractions.
Please don't let your children chase the geese. Keep your kids under control .
The council could do more with the state of the paths imo
In general a friendly happy place
Z.
Really nice park! Lovely rose garden!
C. W.

Overall a wonderful place to go as a couple or a family.

Nice reading day @ roath Park 👌
C. R.
The lake is beautiful, whether it is really cold or warm! In winter, it is stunning when the snow covers the surrounding grass and trees. It is one of my favourite places in the winter. It is popular with runners because it is a good distance and is great to focus on
b. c.
A loverly day out good weather and a loverly park
S. S.
It nice to go down there nice to walk around
A. C.
Beautiful park, with a large lake that has row boats available to rent.
Lovely rose gardens and botanical gardens make this park a lovely day out. Up the top there is a children's play park and a few sports courts available to use for free!
R. R.
Beautiful Victorian lake with plenty for the kids to do, including a park and indoor dome full of fish and turtles...
J. K.
Great hour or two walking Gwenllian around the park.
R. A.
nice clean park. great for kids
J. M.
Fantastic
H.
Nice green space, good vibe. Toilet was the most filthy I've ever seen.
Cafe near the lake was great value with friendly staff.
C. M.
Nicest Park in Cardiff with lakeside with birds and formal woodland walks and hot house. Toilets and cafe. Row boats for hire. Can be crowded in summer. Best early morning or in winter
A. L.
Stunning! Beautiful lake and lots to see
M. H. (.
A beautiful park, very well looked after. Don't visit if you don't like being close to birds!
P. G.
The park is on my doorstep, I walk around it a lot. Its starting to look a bit sad now could do with a really good clean up around the lake paths, the water could do with having all the weeds and ali
G. J.
It's good if you're going for a walk. But, if you go for run though, you'll find that almost everyone isn't mindful about sharing the path and there's almost no room to run. Such as a family will take up the whole space or people who don't have their dogs on a short lead...
A. M.
Now Wales is begining to open up and spring is finally here Roath Park is coming into it's own
Flowers are out. Bird, ducks and all kinds of wild life are in abundance.
It's a great place to go in all weathers
K. C.
Beautiful lake and park.
P. B.
Since my childhood I always loved a walk around here followed by an ice cream if I was good.Im not so good anymore but still enjoying the ice cream!
J. J.
Lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon, feed the ducks, take a boat out on the lake or spend time strolling around the rose gardens. There's a park to keep the children happy and ice cream too. On a busy day it can be hard to find a parking space as it's on road parking but well worth a visit!
M. A.
Beautiful outdoor space, there's a cafe and often an ice-cream van. The park is fab fun too
L. N.
Lovely place to get some fresh air. Easy to forget you're in the middle of a city here. Scenic and picturesque, and great for walking dogs.
The kids' play park is great too, with plenty to keep young ones of all ages entertained.
G. R.
Love place for a walk with the family, kid and push chair friendly.
Park was open also toilets and ice cream van there. All following covid measures.
Grounds are well kept and beautiful to look at, lots of ducks, swans and geese to feed if you want
D. H.
Great afternoon out. Lovely park for the kids, cafe is good but can be very busy! Large queues for ice creams on sunny days. Walk down to the glass house and see the carp fish , turtles and little birds. Walk around the big lake to see the ducks and swans or go boating on the lake in summer months. Altogether a good afternoon out.
W. b.
Pay a visit! Missing an absolute treat. Beautiful place, great play area/picnic setting for families, a pretty flower garden with greenhouse selling plants sometimes, a beautiful lake, where you can row or peddle happily around. A perfect picturesque walk. Ice cream vans plus a lakeside cafe. My favourite park.
N. T.
It's a beautiful place for a relaxing short walk through the gardens and lake. You can see squirrels running around and aren't afraid to let you get close. Lots of people out jogging as it's a paved area and flat.
C. R.
Beautiful lake to walk around, the play area has lots for children of all ages. The rose garden is fantastic when the roses are all out.
L. M.
The park itself is lovely but the wildlife aren't looked after as much as they should be, no rangers around to look after the nesting swans that were getting bothered by people. I looked after her myself so they didn't destroy her eggs!
W. F.
Very clean and beautiful place to visit, facilities for children to play
N. 2.
Roath park is a beautiful park where young ones can enjoy playing in the park, feeding ducks and roaming around. It also has a beautiful rose garden with a lot of roses and trust me when I say it's a great place for pictures. You can also go boating and there are little places to go have a snack.
E. G.
Roath Park Circular Walk is a 5.0 kilometer loop trail located near Cardiff, Cardiff, Wales that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and running.
C. B.
A beautiful park for all the family
A. S.
I can't believe we have such a beautiful park here on our doorstep! I try to see it fresh through a visitor's eyes each time I go.
It's a joy to visit, well tended gardens, lovely lake with all kinds of wild fowl, great play area for children. It leads into the pleasure gardens, again beautiful with tennis courts and bowling green. There's a cafe overlooking the lake (dogs allowed inside too). Public toilets available and free car parking on the roads around the park.
D. C.
Beautiful place lots of different species of birds
Peddle and row boats are £7 card only
Little ice cream shop cash only
Great playground for the kids
S. A.
Lovely place to relax and blow off the cobwebs walking around the lake
S. L.
Lovely place for a stroll around a big lake. Nice big play area for the kids, toilets nearby, and the ice cream stall cannot be missed! (blackcurrant and clotted cream well recommended). Beware the bird mess on the paths. Parking could be better but usually find a space around the outskirts
r. r.
Really pretty park, it's clearly well taken of and well landscaped. Good cafe and seating area next to the lake
K. D.
The kids enjoyed walking around the pond and feeding the ducks. Nice big park there for the kids to burn off some energy.
D. D.
What a gem.
Haven't been since kids were young but returned with our 2 grandchildren and were delighted.
Safe place for even the 2 year old to play on park equipment, delightful surroundings with the lake as a bonus.
Good value for money at the lake cafe and well maintained gardens.
Glad we came and will return

Beautiful Victorian lake set in middle of the city. Ideal for families especially with young children, dog walking or just a day out strolling. Lovely gardens a conservatory with exotic plants. There is a play area for young children and a boating lake. There is a very nice cafe that serves hot and cold food , Toilets and baby changing facilities.

Been going there for years . Took my children whom loved it now my godchild who also loves it. The park it well kept with plenty to do. The gardens are lovely in the summer. When it's raining you can go into the tropical garden. There are Ice Cream vans and places to buy coffee. Recommend for all ages.

T. R.
A most invigorating afternoon spent in the company of our lovely grand daughters and their physically active mum encouraged us both to walk around the fantastic lake surrounded by beautiful tulips and a wide variety of flower beds ........thoroughly recommendad
E. D.
Plenty of places to explore. The lake is amazing, the children's park has a number of different activities for all ages, and there are so many different areas to explore. Plus even if the ice cream shop is closed and you don't want to visit the cafe on the lake, you can always find an ice cream van, even in the winter.
C. S.
Excellent Park with one way walking around, with limited parking spaces tho. If you want a ice-cream after your walk, well the ice-cream van takes card and ice-cream hut takes cash.
E.
A great place to relax. Feed the birds with bird food from the keepers and enjoy the beautiful view.
D. M.
A good walk to be had around the lake. The lake is populated with swans, ducks and geese. The walk can be extended by taking the paths to the Flower Garden area.
L. T.
Beautiful place to visit, great for the kids
S. C.
Very beautiful park, especially when the weather is beautiful. Didn't see all of the park but the bits we did see were really nice. The cafe was ok but it was a greenhouse with no fans or air conditioning, so we sat there sweating (+ our toddler was too hot to eat his lunch).
S. J.
Excellent day out for a walk around the lake and the children can burn off some energy in the playground. Make sure you pop into conservatory and feed the koi carp.
r. r.
Really pretty park, it's clearly well taken of and well landscaped. Good cafe and seating area next to the lake

Beautiful walk on a summers day. A lovely park for the children, plenty of benches to sit . An ice cream van and an ice cream shop the other side. A nice little cafe with small toilets.

Lovely easy walk and nice views
S. B.
Roath Park seems to have gone downhill in recent years. The gardens look a bit neglected. Staff cuts? However, the tropical glasshouse is worth a visit. Picture shows a beautiful air-rooted orchid.

These parks are so relaxing. You have to go on the lake too. It also has a great park for the kids to play on, fantastic!
F. D.

L. g.
Beautiful place to take a leisurely walk 🙂
L. K.
Lovely place for walks
P. S.
Beautiful spot for some nice level walks around the lake. (I would say that as I grew up here and often circumnavigated the lake with my parents)
S. J.
Just love this park. Beautiful gardens, the lake and birds and a great cafe overlooking the lake. Fab park for the kids as well
A. A.
beautiful park for anyone, close to town, lots of swans in the lake.
P. K.
A place to walk around in any season, the lake has numerous different birds and fishing allowed with appropriate licence and permits. The lake also has rowing and peddle boats for hire. Picture perfect scenery and plenty of seating around to enjoy the view. There is a garden section with an indoor display. For the young children there is a large play area with many different types of swings, slides, climbing activities. Something for all the family. Toilets near the play area and another in the garden area. A cafe by the lake and ice cream from a booth and a van.
P. A.
Really good experience never visited the park before nice walks lots of wild life, would definitely visit again.

Always a nice place to go to rain or shine. There is a cafe there to have a tea or coffee and some light bites after you've walked all around the lake and then if you feel up to it the gardens after.

Lovely place to visit with the grand children or just a stroll around the park.

Roath Park is a lovely way to spend an hour or two walking around. The park offers a beautiful scenic route as well a lake which has many ducks and swans. The ducks and swans walk freely on the path which is lovely to see, with many of the …

Nicest Park in Cardiff with lakeside with birds and formal woodland walks and hot house. Toilets and cafe. Row boats for hire. Can be crowded in summer. Best early morning or in winter
S. M.
Paths not very clean due to the number of geese.

Lovely place. Choice of pedal or rowing boats. Thr price is £7 for 30 minutes. Can be paid by cash or debit card. Lots of play things for all ages in the park too. Ice cream parlours and toilets on site. Everything you need for a day out wirh the kids. Very enjoyable.

A beautiful, traditional park complete with boating lake, garden walks and a cafe/restaurant. It's a shame the cafe stops serving at 4 though as, in the summer, it would be nice to sit out longer with a drink and snack. Worthwhile visiting.

A beautiful park! I bet it's brilliant in the summer and will definitely go again if I'm looking for a place to walk in the area.
There's loads of birds here, so take bird feed suitable for ducks, swans and geese! It is also on sale on site in the big greenhouses there.

Beautiful gardens with a variety of plants and flowers. Nice for a quiet walk with the wife, just to get out and sit outside on the many benches or even take the kids out and enjoy the parks play area and climbing frame. Fun for all ages.

Stunning gardens. Beautiful walks. Awesome park for the kids. Peddalos available for hire. Swans, ducks and lots of other birds to watch a d feed (not bread) events on throughout year. Lovely place that you can spend all day there with picnic or pop into the cafe

A truly magnificent parkland experience for one & all. From a beautiful fully enclosed conservatory at the southern end containing a multitude of plants along with a giant fish pond (massive Koi, Terapin, Ducks etc for which you can buy food - 50p for the kids to feed them) and follow the babbling, meandering stream through brilliantly manicured gardens of all colours containing mature trees of all types up to the sizable Roath Lake. By the lake there is a great kids playground complete with big slide, swings, climbing frame etc with an area beside perfect for a picnic or enjoy a meal or coffee & cake at the lakeside Cafe whilst watching the Swans swim around. Beside the Cafe is an ice creamery for a treat or in summer there is usually a van on the high side of the playground. Plenty of top spots for a picnic. Very highly recommended.

A great place to visit with the children as there is plenty to do and a playground with a slide that is legendary amongst Cardoff children. Has a real Victorian feel to it with the botanical house and paths through the flower beds etc with a boating lake that is home to swans, ducks and geese. Ice cream stalls and a cafe are also great to visit for a snack.

Lovely park. Angry swans.

A really lovely place for a family to spend the day. There's a pond/lake at the centre of park with plenty of swans, ducks etc, both on the water and around the edge. Bring some wild bird seeds as they will approach for feeding. We even saw a heron on the far bank waiting patiently to spear a meal.
You can take a boat or pedalo out on the lake or simply walk round the periphery. There is a cafe in the park.

Nice relaxing time in the gardens!

This is an amazing park with so many beautiful plants. It is really close to Roath recreational grounds, Roath botanic gardens and Roath wild gardens. The lake with the lighthouse is amazing, there is so much nature here with many different types of plants and birds. The cafe by the lake is also a lovely place to have a cup of tea and a cake with a view of the water. Would definitely recommend visiting this park and walking all the way around the lake and through the gardens. There is also the conservatory with a rainforest type set up with a koi pond and turtles you can visit for a small cost. Such a beautiful place.

Very pleasant park with rose gardens, lake, children's play area and a cafe. Plenty of space for walking and ample benches for those that are less energetic.

I love this place. Flower garden, lake to walk the dog around. Play area for children, that's fenced off away from traffic, with swings, slides etc.. ducks and swans on the lake. It's a place where you can be totally by yourself and not feel totally alone, but in a friendly way, not a creepy way :-)
J. K.
Great coffee in the cafe and a beautiful walk.

I live near Roath Park and so walk around there frequently. It is beautiful and well worth a visit. It has 2 children's play areas, botanical gardens with a large greenhouse, tennis courts, bowling greens and Roath Brook flows through the magnificent lake.

A wonderful beauty spot in Cardiff. With ducks, swans and geese all around the lake it is a sight to behold on a lovely sunny day. There is a children's play area with slides swings climbing frames etc and in summer there is a trampolining and crazy golf. It's a lovely place to take the children for a picnic, benches are provided for this although a lot of families sit on the grass on blankets.

Lovely place, which was made even more awesome thanks to the beautiful weather. Would've liked to go for a boat ride on the lake but Mother Nature had other plans, and so that was closed (had to look on the website, mind, as there was no indication as to why the boat rental was closed on the spot)
Gorgeous and enjoyable walk, stunning gardens and flowers.

Roath Park is a great place for a stroll around the lake.

Roath Park is one of my favourite places in Cardiff to visit on a sunny day. No matter if it is a sweltering summer afternoon or a crisp winter morning, there is something about the way the sunlight hits the water of the lake and shimmers through the trees on Duck Island that just fills me with an unparalleled joy for being alive.

Lovely park for a walk nice garden and lake to walk around. You can pay to go on a rowing boat which is always fun. And there's always loads of birds to look at. There's also a cafe and an ice cream shop and there's always an ice cream van at the park. There's also an awesome play park for little children.

This astoundingly beautiful place is a gem in Cardiffs crown. The lake is alright if you like promenades to walk along or past but really the rose gardens and the conservatory are little havens. I'm always disappointed when I have to leave the conservatory. So peaceful and always something new to see.

One of our favourite place to play with the kids! There is a lovely playground, beautiful Roath lake with swans and boats, the prettiest rose garden and a little conservatory with exotic trees and flowers plus a small fish pond!

A beautiful park, well kept and is great for walks, taking the family and just enjoying the great outdoors.

A beautiful Victorian park steeped in history. Well worth a visit, it has all the facilities you would like for an afternoon out in the sunshine: a boating lake, cafe, toilets, children's playground, ice cream venders and plenty of places for picnics. Roath park never disappoints.

A well loved and favourite place for adults and children alike, Roath Park will draw you back again and again with it's lake, many swans, geese and ducks to feed. A Rose garden, variety of shrubs and trees makes walking a pleasure. For the children a safely fenced off play ground. A delightful place for all.

Lovely day coffee and cake by the lake

Lovely walks around the lake.

The best park in Cardiff. Walk by the lake and feed the ducks, play in the park, then have an ice cream. Great day out.

The beautiful lake and surrounding trees make for a very relaxing place to visit, not far from the city centre. There are boats to hire, a lakeside cafe and swans to watch on the lake. A nice place to take the family on a sunny afternoon .
M. S.
It had a bit of everything, entertaining young and older children as well as the adults. The children's play area had a lot of activities, with a grass area outside suitable for picnics. We hired a pedalo which was lots of fun, then went to buy an ice cream and walk past the rose garden. We were lucky enough to enjoy a lovely sunny day. We would all (4 adults and 2 children) highly recommend it

Beautiful park, loads of different areas to explore, kids love the playground, makes a change to have so many benches and tables so youre not fighting for a seat

A very nice park, with a beautiful rose garden 👌🏿

Brilliant place for fresh air. Good children park and also a cafe for drink and food.

Pleasant walk for all the family, round the lake. Flat and reasonably smooth. Good for cycling, scooters, wheel chairs. Lots of benches. Nice café, usually a couple of ice cream vendors. You can hire canoe's or pedalo type boats. Nice playground as well.

Amazing the view absolutely spectacular with the sunshine and area for kids to play and enjoy themselves as well as yourself sitting on benches staring out into the view in awe
