We travelled to Derby for the day and were delightfully surprised to find a Japanese restaurant. We started with some cocktail orders where the staff were very attentive and offered some recommendations. The drinks were very nice. We ordered the Chicken Gyoza and the Takoyaki to start, both dishes came much quicker than first anticipated. The Gyoza were fried, but perfectly crispy to a point where they were still soft. The flavours were good and the accompanying sauce paired very well. The takoyaki were a real treat, a beautifully cooked batter full of flavour and covered in a pair of sauces that fit the dish perfectly. We both then ordered the duck and plum sauce 'Kamo duck' bento box. This also arrived pretty quickly. The sauce was amazing, and the duck was melt in the mouth. The salad was fresh and seasoned really well, salad doesn't have to be boring it was very tasty. The rice was perfectly cooked, sticky and fluffy. But wait, let's get back to the sauce because I cannot understate how good the sauce was with the accompanying duck. I was ready to charge into the kitchen and attempt to steal any form of supply they had of it. All in all, it was a fantastic dive into the world of Japanese cuisine. The staff tried to be very attentive, the place may need a little more work but they are definitely capable of doing so much. A very expansive menu with a lot to offer. We'll definitely return if we're in the area again. If there was a greater demand for Japanese food, I can see this restaurant doing great things. Thank you Moonsha, hope to see you again. PS. Today was my first visit to MoonSha and what a wonderful place. It was quiet tonight but still a nice atmosphere and to top it off today was their first day using the most adorable robot waiter which was a wonderful addition to the experience.

Went for the tepenyaki. The food was fantastic, the chef was fun and playful, and the atmosphere was warm. Great time all round, until the bill came. Be prepared to spend roughly £50 per head, for a fish or meat tepenyaki, and a few drinks.

This sushi was absolutely fantastic. The building is deceiving, it doesn't look much from the outside but is large and very classy looking inside. Friendly staff and great sushi chef. We ordered sushi for starters and main meals, the only problem we had is because we wanted the remaining sushi bagged up, they thought we hadn't finished our starters yet so was left waiting a while before we asked where our main meal is. Lovely place.

I went there for a big birthday celebration with some work colleagues. We had a great time. We ordered the big boat of sushi and plenty of other dishes which we shared. Great drama and theatre allied to good food. The caveats I have never had Japanese food before but I hugely enjoyed the meal, and maybe Japanese is always expensive because that was my only downside. Went to Moonsha for my wife’s birthday as she wanted sushi and Japanese food and we weren’t disappointed! The sushi were prepared fresh and served promptly with excellent presentation. We also ordered udon noodles with tender pieces of duck and the bento box with chicken teriyaki. Everything was so delicious we ended up over eating! Will definitely be back and also ordering using Just Eat.

Great place for a takeaway! The only thing I would like them to do/change is have more vegetarian items, I am allergic to Cucumber which is in the majority of sushi here. It would be amazing to see some Aubergine Nigiri and Pepper Nigiri. We had a takeaway recently and it arrived hot even though we are 15-20 drive away. I ordered Vegetable Udon and it was gorgeous with all my favouite vegetables in it. Very filling as well. My partner loved all of his Salmon Sushi and Beef Udon. Will be coming here in person in the future or ordering a takeaway in the near future.

I have gone to MoonSha twice and both times it was fairly empty but the food was great. The seaweed salad is exactly what I would expect, and the nigiri is better than many other sushi places I have been to around the world. My only criticism would be that the Sashimi was a bit too frozen when we were served it. The staff were attentive and we received everything in a timely manner. It is a bit pricey but I think the quality makes it worth it. Certainly one of my top picks for going out.

A good range of sushi and sashimi. Well prepared to order, and served in an attractive restaurant. Fairly expensive, as good sushi tends to be. Various cooked dishes are also available - the miso-aubergine was good, but didn't try others.

The really classic japanese foods are good (gyoza 5 star, teriaky good), everything else is awful. (Definetely would not suggest the curry!!). The atmosphere is nice. Music a bit too loud.

Always the best place for Sushi...arguably in the east mids. Excellently presented fresh food, not just a generic selection, polite and accomodating staff, excellent show by the teppanyaki chefs, great selection of beers, Saki and Wine. All that before you get to the highlight of the evening...a pot of green tea ice-cream! Best I've ever tasted, you'd be missing out if you don't have a try! Make sure to try their cooked meals too...I always opt for the sea-eel on rice myself. There's also a decent selection of vegetarian dishes too...so all in all, there's no need to feel like you're missig out!

Love this place, food is delicious (try the soft shell crab hand roll!) and while some options are pricey, it's quite easy to eat your fill for less than a tenner if you're out for lunch (and probably dinner too, though I haven't tried). The bento are worth getting, though my usual staple is the donburi. Staff are lovely too, and for a more dramatic night out their teppanyaki show is worth the money! My favourite place to eat when I visit derby.

Great place to go, food overall yummy....but the spicy seafood miso soup lacked miso, spice, and a crab stick is NOT seafood! The steak teppanyaki was delicious, with lots of rice and fresh, well cooked veg. The chilli squid was good but the tempura seafood was exceptional. Most disappointing the hand roll-a small piece of limp prawn, three slivers of avocado and the rest is rice. Poor show on that. Staff tried, but one was obviously out of her depth and needed more training, effort was good though. A couple of tweaks and your five stars will be warranted.
