This traditional sweet shop is just fabulous, it is bright and friendly with great displays of bagged sweets suitable for those with pocket money. For those of us who love a trip down memory lane it has all our old favourites, boiled sweets, packet sweets (parma violets and lovehearts to name a couple) and more, plus a great sugar free section if you need it. The sugar coated smell as you walk in transports you back to good days and the lady who runs the shop is just lovely, so friendly and passionate about her candy. Look out for her holiday style bags for childrens' parties, valentines, Easter, Halloween etc. A real gem to have locally and worth a visit for every Edinburgh tourist with a sweet tooth!

The place to go for all your traditional sweets and treats. (The chocolate covered coffee beans are particular favourite of mine, followed closely by a Soor Ploom!) There is even a sugar free section for those with that need. Highly recommend.

Fantastic shop, floor to ceiling of modern and traditional boiling and sweets, the selection is mind blowing and includes some of the sweets that you thought were long extinct. Debbie the owner always has a smile on her face and makes you feel welcome whenever you walk through the door with her bubbly personality. Well worth a visit.

Traditional sweet shop where you can still go in and ask for "a quarter of cola cubes please". Run by a lovely lady who knows what that means! Very good for kids party sweets and old fashioned treats. They have everything from dip dabs and jelly beans to violet creams and mint humbugs.

We've been going to Canderson's for more than ten years. It is always a joyful experience. One of the best things is that the proprietess understands that people with diabetes need treats too. So you will find not just one shelf but several holding a surprising variety of sugar free sweeties to make sure family or friends in that situation can enjoy special occasions.

Popped in to get some treats for my Mum and got wonderful help and a friendly, warm service. Lots of classic selections of your favourite sweets, as well as "the new kids on the block" so to speak. Definitely worth a visit. Go in. You shan't regret it.

I visit this shop for the Army and Navy Throat sweets.... They are of good quality. I like the lady who owns the shop she is cheerful on all occasions, it must be tough running the business with the restrictions, it's only a small shop but a well stocked sweet shop. Please try this gem of a shop you won't be disappointed.

Canderson's has all the sweets we remember as a child. The shop is tiny and a little tired but well stocked and the service is excellent. The owner, I think her name was Debbie greeted us warmly and filled me with joy when she was helping an elderly man count out his coins to buy his sweets. Old fashioned service with old fashioned sweeties.

This little shop is the most amazing place with a wide selection of sweets including giant lollies that I was after at a very reasonable price! But what is even more amazing is the shop's owner! I thought people like her ceased to exist. After almost an hour's journey to her shop I realised that I forgot my purse at home. This lady trusted me enough to give me what I wanted and pay her later. I have never been to that shop before and that level of trust was totally unexpected. I hurried back home and managed to return money on the same day as I wanted to repay the kindness and trust she had shown. I will be a frequent customer!

Visited today Saturday 29/6/2019 with my beautiful daughter Kiara Fraser Reid-Gilchrist myself her father Michael William Gilchrist absolutely lovely sweets best sweet shop ive to been since way back I was a kid. Great variety amazing sweets old fashioned shop but rare to see a proper sweet shop and really Lovely selection of some of the best old fashioned Sweet's. Quite refreshing to see compared most modern shops these days that only sell chocolate and crips and juice. :-) :-) :-). Love looking after my daughter financially and having great quality time together best of the best for my kid.

Summary: Here you can buy sweets by the quarter. Score. Canderson's is very easy to miss as it's a truly tiny shop, but within it hides rows and rows of packed shelves stacked so high with jars full of sweets the owner can't reach the highest without a ladder. So, parents beware, sugar-highs will result. But don't think this is only for the sugar-guzzlers of the world, for the rear of the shop also hides a decent selection of sugar-free alternatives, meaning even diabetics have something to attract their eye. Really, what's not to like?

This is a proper sweet shop straight out of your childhood (for those of us of a certain age) it is wall to wall sweet heaven ! Where you will find things you just cannot get anywhere else. The lady behind the counter who also owns it is is a perfect fit for the job and you will always leave happy.

Fab shop Debbie made us up Xmas sweet hampers also party bags and party buckets for birthdays which were loved by the kids of all ages xx Very reasonable prices and packed full of goodies xx Buckets were later used for popcorn and larger buckets for crayons and pencils xx
