N. M.New year's eve walk from Kippford to shell beach and pit stop for ice cream which was very good indeed. Will be visiting and eating more in future.
D. L.The ark is like an old tea room, quite a number of tables inside and a small number outside.parking can be a problem for all people. On the ground floor, entrances not for all people. Staff are very friendly. Service is fast.prices are competitive. There is a menu which covers most things, vegetarians included and children. One of the nicest experiences you can have, beware of opening times. Added on to the cafe is a ice cream parlour, again problems of parking. Numerous ice creams to choose from and a treat for doggies. Dogs not allowed inside the cafe but outside not a problem.

I. A.Great friendly staff. Delicious ice cream and great coffee. We stayed at Kippford for a week and called here most days. If the weather is suitable it's idyllic to sit at the picnic benches looking across the water and enjoying your purchases from The Ark.

Kippford itself is a lovely place to hang out and walk. We sat on a bench outside The Ark to eat our ice creams.

Covid system one person in to order..delivered by another at separate door...
The order staff are rather young and rather short on experience and good practice.
Hence 4 stars..not 5?
Plus the food delivery in a paper bag for a sandwich doesn't really work well....
Food is good and nourishing...but the homemade rhubarb and elderflower ice cream....is to DIE FOR!!!!
Homemade milkshakes are a refreshing change......defo revisit...sitting in the sun watching the tide roll in..
L.Quite a quaint little place. Delicious food. Great outdoor seating just outside or a cross the track on the grass at the picnic tables. Cute little gift shop too. Little expensive but I am on holiday so that's not a problem. Will definitely be coming back if not this year then definitely next as the staff are all extremely friendly.
N.Enjoyed a family lunch in this beautiful little tea room. The staff were friendly and polite. The scones were delicious as was the other fresh food we ordered. The only downside is that there was a minimum spend of 10pounds to pay by card (this was the same as the shop attached, which meant we missed out on an ice cream :( as there was no ATM around). However, if you are prepared with cash, it's not an issue.

D. G.Fantastic cafe for eating inside or out. Very welcoming staff. Always happy to have our three, rather wild, small boys inside. The food is delicious as is the coffee. Our boys live the Cream o’Galloway ice cream.
a. a. c.Lovely place. Compact and Bijou, (five tables), but makes up for that in many ways. Excellent food, all home made. Nice ice cream too. Hot and cold drinks done to order. Staff most helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. The views from the windows are delightful, even in the rain. We call in every time we are going along the coast road from Dumfries towards Dalbeattie, nice little run! (2021), under new management and have not been back since Covid lockdown so this is now old news, but still recommend trying for yourself, lovely position and views.

It looks like they also serve light bites such as cakes, ice cream, breakfast rolls etc. The service was friendly and helpful. A highly recommended stop off, especially if you're enjoying a walk from Rockcliffe Beach.
V. B.The Ark is lovely with warm and welcoming staff. My cheese and onion toastie was packed full, crisp and delicious just like the beautiful decor.

D. W.The tea room is closed pending refurbishment. There's some minor items to peruse, such as scarves and picture prints, but otherwise its value is in the decent local ice cream, as well as confectionery and soft drinks, that it sells. In this respect it is the only shop in Kippford. The tea room opens sometime in August or September.
