Reviews of Kishmish
S. J.
Excellent service, excellent Persian food. I tried the Koobideh and it was outstanding. The place has a very good ambience. The decor is very inviting. The staff is very attentive. Alcohol however is not available but can bring your own. Corkage fee will be charged. Toilets are dated and can be better.
R. V.
Overall an okay eating place. Waiters are really nice but they're not instructed on how each dish is prepared or what it contains. Vegetarian options taste good but there aren't many options. Rice option is only plain white and only one type of bread, plain naan. The saffron ice cream is a must try!
V. M.
A great restaurant serving Persian cuisine throughout the day, built with a lovely interior. I tried the vegetarian aubergine curry - very tasty and mild. The falafel wrap was ok. Would like to try some of the other dishes at some point, however i do feel the menu was a bit overpriced - especially the wrap (i got a better one somewhere else in s.london for almost half the price).
H. M.
Great food and ambience. The signature skewers was amazing, the chicken and lamb was very tender and perfectly cooked. For dessert the homemade saffron ice cream with baklava was also perfect and to finish off, aromatic tea. A gem of a find.

I have been to Kishmish a few times now and decided to book my birthday there. There were 13 of us in total. Food was amazing (as it always is!) But the service was brilliant. No-one was left waiting for food while others had theirs. I was really impressed that considering there was a large group to deal with, the service never wavered. Everyone said their chosen dish was delicious! Thanks Kishmish and hope to see you again soon!
E. B.
I would have taken pictures of the food but it was so delicious I forgot to! Highly recommend this place, food was fresh, clean and FULL of flavour. Service was friendly and prompt. Definitely a secret hidden find!
M. C.
Great food and amazing atmosphere. There was clear social distancing and o felt comfortable dining here! Would definitely visit again when restrictions permit.
S. A.
Great food. Wasn’t overly priced
P. D.
The dinner at this place was good. It tasted good and it was reasonably priced.
The staff were very professional and friendly. The decor was beautiful and the vibe there was relaxing and positive.
There is a verandah area for smokers.
I plan to go to this restaurant again.
S. F.
Food is deliciously fresh and generous portions. The staff are really attentive and seem like they genuinely want you to have a great experience. Good ventilation for indoor dining with a nice outdoor seating available too. I would visit again.
S.
The quality of the meat: very good. Portions: too big. Prices: appropriate. Persian spices: not in the dishes we picked, unfortunately.
The crispy rice with beans and meat made us believe that it would be a great dinner. The rest let us down a bit. Nice food which could have come from anywhere really.
J. A.
Had lunch here last week. Very tasty. The saffron ice cream was delicious! Just for info, I checked a comment made by "Ell W" about their hygiene rating - they were in fact rated level 4 (very good) on 1st October 2019 by Lambeth Council inspectors.
R. J.
Lovely little hidden place. Staff are polite & helpful. Food was nice & authentic.
T. W.
First time trying Iranian food not spicy but good taste, orange juice is to die for really good and our waitress gave great service. Of
S. H. L.
Little bit hard to find but you won't be disappointed. Really good grill and rice dished. I highly recommend to try their drinks especially one with dates and nuts in it. Almost like milkshake but so much better. Very generous food portion.
M. K.
lovely food,friendly staff!
J. G.
Really good food - bring yr own booze, hidden gem!
H. M.
It was my first time at Kishmish but it won't be my last. The food was delicious and tasted very fresh. Reasonable pricing too.
A. L.
The food here is delicious and we love that they cater for the kids without resorting to chicken nuggets and chips.
W.
Sini Kebab
Two skewers of minced lamb, one skewer of Kebab Ghafghazi, one skewer of chicken wings, served with grilled tomato, with naan and rice
Don't be fooled by the dodgy narrow entrance, Kish Mish is an underground Persian gem. This was such a pleasant surprise, so tasty 😋
J. J.
Came here on a Sunday for lunch, restaurant was empty and took staff a little bit of time to get us a seat. Staff eve bully warmed up and seated us and served us. Food wise is ok, nothing spectacular jumping out, portions are pretty big. The salmon was bit dry, the Lamb skewers were better, but lacked in taste imo.
B. M.
Amazing. The food is amazing, it's grilled in charcoal, their red meat is tender and moist, same with chicken. Very well priced, a gem within Crystal Palace.
C. B.
Had a delicious vegetarian bademjan, with refreshing dhool. My wife loved her khoobideh kebab - the meat was tender and tasty. The portions are very generous. The restaurant is spacious, and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend!
A. A.
Nice restaurant. Food is very good. Prices are not high
k. w.
Like descending into a quizottic and awe inspiring food- pit. A true tardis, bigger on the inside than on the out.
R. G.
Great food. Kishmish is one of my favourite secret spots in Crystal palace
A. T.
Disappointing they are not participating in the government 'Dine out to help out' scheme especially when it's costs businesses nothing?
However the food was great. I am Persian and although we all have off days (there are some bad reviews on here) I can only talk for my experience.
Bread was amazing cooked traditionally, starters very good. Mains excellent too meat cooked perfectly on both the kebabs and lamb shank. If you like meat you will love it! Forget Turkish meat grills good Persian blows them out of the water!!
One review spoke about the rice being 'plain' rice is painstakingly cooked in Persian cuisine although in this restaurant I would say to add butter and some salt to get the flavour right. But. The way it's served is better for the health conscious :)
(Use butter and salt though)
D. F.
Great food, great service. Thank you for an authentic Persian meal.
f.
This place is amazing. Great ambience and service plus the meat is cooked to perfection! And I highly recommend their veggie stews too. Take your own booze as they don't have a licence to sell alcohol. Great place for relaxed informal dining
D. A.
It's absolutely divine!! What a wonderful souvenir. Thank you so much for your gentleness and for this excellent food trip. I hope to come soon.
K. G.
Lovely food, good service, nice surroundings. Happy to recommend this place with one word of caution; the stairs going down are a bit tight with rickety handrails. Adds to the charm of the place but be prepared.
From outside you could easily miss the entrance it is so understated.
The decor has an authentic feel to it and is comfortable.
Families are welcome from what I have seen which adds to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Will go again.

The best Persian meal I’ve had in London. Friendly staff, interesting decor, and great food
I. I.
I highly recommend this place...love the vibe, very relaxing, it's a complete switch off from the chaotic London...the interior design is very traditional and authentic...very clean and follow all Covid-19 guidelines...the staff very professional and friendly, especially Tika, she is just a sweet heart...very smiling and adviced us amazing food to try...well done, just love the place❤️
K. R.
I just discovered this restaurant, I went with my two best friends and a small child last Saturday and I have to say we all absolutely loved it, it was a great night out. The entrance to the restaurant is tiny but it’s quite spacious once you get inside, and they even have an outdoor eating space with a bench for smokers in the corner (great as I’m a smoker!). The atmosphere is relaxed, it can get a bit noisy and there was a real buzz. It’s suitable for children and families. The food was amazing! Just so so good, really high quality ingredients are used. My friend declared her lamb and okra stew to be “better than sex!” 😄 she might be right, I’m still thinking about the vegetarian stew we had as an accompaniment to our main. I really recommend getting a stew as a side dish as well as your kebab for a main if that’s what you are having. We ordered far too many naan breads so be aware that the portions are generous. I highly recommend this lively little restaurant, we had a great time and I’m looking forward to going back.
B. B.
Delicious kebabs but our favourite bit is the big flatbreads with dips! Think the food tastes better when in the restaurant. Nice setting and it’s well set out for a socially distanced meal.
S. E.
Beautiful food, beautiful interior. It really feels like you're on holiday inside Kish Mish
P. A.
This is a great Persian Iranian restaurant in south London, it is like a hidden gem , I usually buy chelokabab here and that’s the best kebab right now, better than a lot of other Iranian restaurants across London which I have tasted and experienced in recent years and of course was not satisfied with them in terms of quality and price , the only little downside in this restaurant to me is quantity of a portion of pilau rice which is not great ,I think they need to increase the amount, but the kebab itself is really delicious and nice, I can suggest it to all the people who love Iranian foods or want to try them for first time.
M. M.
This a great little restaurant with a full decor, the food is absolutely delicious with fantastic portions that is decently priced. Bring your on bottle and pay a small courage charge. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and explain the dishes. We will be going back here again.
A. B.
I don't normally rave. I don't normally even write reviews! But this was, hands down, the best Persian / Iranian food I've had in London so far. Full marks from start to delicious finish (home-made saffron ice cream...). Super friendly service, too. Amazing value for money. Huge range of vegetarian choices, which isn't standard with Persian / Iranian restaurants. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be going back.
C. A.
I really hate fake reviews. After owning my own restaurant in Battersea I know how heavily restaurants rely on positive feedback. I've never eaten in this restaurant as I have a 3 year old boy and rarely get out BUT I've ordered takeaway almost 10 times now in the past 2 months and everytime the food has been exceptional. My partner and I order the Sini Kebab (for two people) and its cooked to perfection. Of course if you have eaten inside the restaurant and experienced poor service this is not going to have a positive outcome on your review but based on food only this is a must try place
K. T.
Yummy, yummy, yummy BYOB Persian wonder!
This place does delicious Persian food for a reasonable price. There is also a very good value lunchtime menu, and the portions for the lunch specials are huge - my only gripe would be the slightly more limited veggie options for lunchtime specials.
The staff are nice, the restaurant is huge, and also has a large balcony with seating (which unfortunately overlooks a car park but you can't have everything - and in fairness it's still very pleasant to sit out there).
It has a great location opposite CP Park and the bus station, although it is sited almost behind/below the other shops and restaurants on the parade so its frontage is just a doorway - keep your eyes peeled or you'll miss it! Also, the restaurant is accessed down some fairly steep stairs, so this won't be suitable for anyone with limited mobility, unfortunately.
D. S.
The food was flavorful and taste. I had the #28, which is the chicken salad w. greens and small potatoes and a salad dressing. Also had my favorite!!! Mint lemonade, always a winner with me. Well worth the visit if you're in the area!!
D. T.
We went for a family meal. No one was disappointed. We got a good selection of starters and mains. Which we all shared. Good service and the food was beutifully cooked .and presented. Thanks for a great evening .
P. M.
Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend
S. H.
Went in for an evening meal around xmas time. Quite an atmospheric environment but being sat in the extension, it wasn't as warm as the main part of the restaurant.
The food itself was OK but pretty basic with modest portions. Staff didn't seem particularly happy. Cash only and BYOB (£1 to open) meant a diversion to the off license next door with the cash machine was in order.
Probably good for a group meal - especially if you bring your own drinks - but look elsewhere for outstanding Persian cuisine.
D. O.
Ordered a takeout with them and very impressed with the portion size. I had a double skewer, naan bread and falafel . Both tasty dishes and especially enjoyed the Joojeh chicken - very succulent chicken with a nice marinade. The naan bread too was excellent - could tell it was freshly made.
K. P.
Its like a well kept secret as looks are deceiving but once you get past the front door and down the stairs the aromas and the intrigue carry you through to a warm and vibrant atmosphere , its also deceptively big inside.
Byob but it's all about the food and I had a very helpful female member of staff look after us with a great recommendation on the meal I had.As a party of seven we all agreed we would come back again.
U. H.
Food taste and portions are great. They pack it really nice for even takeaway orders. Authentic enough. Great value for the price.
J. B.
Having been let down by the lebanese and turkish places I had been using over the years I decided to give this place a go and have to say it's amazing. I will order again for sure. I think it may have been healthy too!
N. M.
I visited this hidden but inviting little go to spot.
Food is tasty and good price for money and nice romantic and cosy. Seated right near the hot grill( reminded me of a sauna) but menu and prices looked great. My sister took me here for a birthday dinner and I was very happy with her choice. However service was very poor. The young lady who is waitress/host or whatever she is. Kept taking random trips into space leaving us neglected for 15 sometimes 25 minutes at a time without even checking on us. To make matters worse on atleast 8 occasions I had to put one hand up(as if I was in school) to get her intention. Now despite these things, I went to visit a week later as the food was amazing and I wanted to just assume that was a one off. We entered the cosy hideaway and attempted to navigate at the back of the restaurant as we had previously been placed right next to the hot stove. We were met with what appeared to be the owner who stop us in our tracks and ushered us right back to the same seat as previous. I began to explain the situation as to why we wanted a seat at the back and was abruptly told , that that was the only seat available along with a window seat that's was clearly the walk way and seated directly outside the toilet. When we asked again we were Abruptly told that there were no other tables ( other then for the benefit of doubt given for reservation), the place was near empty at 4 on a weekday!!! We asked again if we could sit at the back and was told no( was given no actual valid reason) , owner/ Joe blow pretty much pushed us towards the stairs! Unacceptable so we decided to take our services elsewhere as did not feel welcome and clearly our money was not good enough that time round! All good and well having inviting decor, but without inviting staff members I will not be going back there! Unnessacary situation that did not need to happen and has now left a sour taste.
S. K.
It's the third or fourth time and I'll be back again and again. The starters are very tasty the meats are of great quality and nicely cooked. The saffron ice cream and aromatic tea is the perfect end to a dinner shared with friends.
N. V.
Wonderful food and service. BYO which even with corkage makes it extremely excellent value! We hadn't booked but they were charming and found us a table.
A. S.
Perfect service. Perfect food. Recommending it very highly.
G. K.
Very delicious food. Generous portions and pleasant atmosphere. The customer service needs improvement but because of the quality of the food I am giving five stars.
C. S.
Got Deliveroo as so cold...was delicious and we will go when weather better definitely...Really lovely food
H. S.
Liked it! Good Persian around the Crystal Palace area. A bit expensive. We ate moderately I thought and for 5 people it came to £94. Enjoyable meal and good enough service - worth a visit!
I. V. V. 1.
Really impressed with the food - naan bread freshly baked - starters brilliant - portions actually a bit too large but who is complaining as the food is excellent and the bill is very reasonable. Not licensed so bring your own (small corkage fee)
D. D.
The food is outstanding, the meat is so tender.
Great atmosphere
R. P.
Incredible food, shame about the service. Certain staff members were rather abrupt and dismissive which certainly spoiled our experience.
Waitress also forgot to order our main, which we then cancelled as we had waited long enough.
A. F.
We've been here a fair few times and it's always delicious food and very friendly. A true hidden gem in Crystal Palace. Highly recommend!
M. C.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Food cooked in the open restaurant with aromatic smells filling the area while you wait. Very reasonable prices for generous portions.
P. W.
Good and plenty food. Good service
D. J.
We really enjoyed ourselves at Kishmish. Interior is really well done and cosy. Food was fantastic and the service really good, really friendly. Will definitely be returning.
A. D.

S. M.
Food was delicious, service good of been better
S. B.
Absolutely delicious food, The Naan bread and Aubergine dips was quite stunning. Great value as it's a bring your own booze. Great service - all round fab
A. D.
We ordered a takeaway from Deliveroo and the food was absolutely fantastic. It took a little while to come, but it was totally worth it. The naan bread is particularly impressive - absolutely huge! Highliy recommended.
J. O.
very good food..Best falafel I have had in a long time. Enormous portions of rice which could have shared 2 between 3. Only shame was that they asked when we would like to have our main course then brought it when they were ready and we were not
S. H.
Kishmish is a fantastic Persian / Iranian restaurant. The entrance to this gem of a place is sandwiched between a cab office and a chip shop. Nothing but a door and a sign. You clamber down a rickity stair case into another world. Once in and seated you feel like you are in Iran. Authentic decor, lovely perisian rugs, dark furniture, wood clad and mud like walls. You feel like you are in a cave. A glass window allows you to see what's being cooked on the grill. I had the best falafels I have ever had. Huge pillow like naans, stews with rice, kebabs and fantastic lamb chops. Bring your own bottle and just pay for corkage. Lovely staff. Great for groups or a quiet romantic meal. Very good value for money. Highly recommended.
L. F.
Great evening with lovely food. Quite reasonable prices as you can bring own wine. It wld be lovely in summer as it has outdoor patio. Indoor decor eccentric!
E. H.
I love this place, go at least once a fortnight, which is a lot consodering the amount of restaurants we have in the Palace. Staff are so friendly and the chicken shish is the beat I've had. The off license next door is pretty handy for the BYOB 😀
E. G.
Hidden gem. Excellent food with very reasonable prices. Portions are generous, staff is nice, you can BYO! Highly recommended if you live in the are or if you visit Crystal Palace.!! They do take away also!
D. D.
Really delicious food, lovely atmosphere and friendly, welcoming staff. It's BYOB too so very affordable if you're on a budget. Highly recommend!
W. M.
Lovely Persian restaurant tucked away behind a nondescript doorway. Food was delicious with friendly service. Bring your own bottles as it's not licenced.
J. L.
The food is amazing, the setting is perfect. Perfect for Eid Celebrations. Quick service, friendly staff. We were making reservations before we left.
A. S.
Amazing restaurant, food was delish and well cooked. Very flavourful and assortment of spices. Reasonably priced, would definitely recommend.
k. k.
The decor was nice but the food let it down. The falafel wrap lacked favour. Full of lettuce and big portion but not something I'll come back for.
A. L.
Great food
Will order again
S. P.
Very good Persian restaurant. Not many vegetarian options but the Bagal Ghatoogh is lovely. Also, aubergine dips as starters with the traditional Persian bread are amazing. Place is cosy and ambience is lovely.
C. H.
Excellent venue, atmosphere and staff. Vegetarian Starters were excellent. Not too sure about the vegetarian mains but here the meat is amazing .
Z. K.
A hidden gem! Great food, delicious yoghurt drink. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes Persian food. Will be coming back again for sure.
A. D.
Kishmish is the place to go for great Persian food. They do delicious wraps for a decent price which will be enough to fill you up for the day. They also do hugeee naans for a quid, so you won't regret going to Kishmish for amazing filling food.
D. S.
Not the tastiest of foods but staff were friendly and sitting outside to eat was nice. It's byob which is ok as there is a store next door. A little pricey.
V. M.
Here is a persian recommending a persian restaurant that is by far the best of its kind in south London.
Try it and see for yourself what foods built an empire.
I recommend the Gheleyeh Mahi for a delightful, balanced, zesty salmon dish to tell your friends about.
H. R.
Local lebanese inspired food. No guilt trip here as lamb or chicken is grilled and rice is boiled. Would visit again.
E. S.
Friendly staff, excellent food, cozy atmosphere. Love this place.
L. W.
I love Kish Mish, never fails to deliver. I've been for meals for 2, take away and with a huge party before and they have always come up trumps. The aubergine dip is to die for.
Z. H. S.
Lively little hideout, Great food would recommend a visit.
A. A.
Best food, very hygienic. People are very nice and friendly. Price is good 👍
A.
A little gem great food and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Small charge for corkage as not licensed.
S. G.
Brilliant place. Such a small entrance yet such a beautiful restaurant inside spacious and lots of light. Food was really nice and would highly recommend the yoghurt drink
A. Z.
Hidden gem. Can bring your own alcohol for a minimal charge as none is served there. The food was great. Needs a better venue to do it justice
k. c.
Really tasty food. I like the chicken salad, sounds boring but it's not, it's really tasty because the chicken is cooked on the grill and seasoned properly. Yummmmmm
P. M.
Amazing food amazing service- jewel in crystal palaces crown! Completely recommend and it's byob!!!! :)
P. F.
