Reviews of Bonzai Sushi & Noodle Bar
D.
I really enjoyed the sushi the first time I went and the second time but waiting over an hour the second visit is way too long! Great vibe here too!
E. Z.
Nice Japanese place, they do bento boxes which are good. Opens late too but could be a bad thing as i was 42 minutes before closing time and i was the only customer. Food was quick but felt the quality wasn't there.
M.
Been here 3 times and it is the best sushi I have had, the fish and everything they use is always fresh! A lot of selection for food and drinks. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. We travel just over 50 miles one way for this. Definitely recommend if you love sushi!
J. L.
Only went due to yo sushi being closed, but happy it was as this place is 200% better with so many more sushi options and larger portions and a lot more tasty! So many dishes to offer and also good for vegetarians and vegans.
C. O. (.
Great food, good experience. Menus need updating though, the only plum wine they had when we were there wasn't on the drinks menu and was more expensive than the ones listed on it. Food was really good. A little expensive but comparable to other sushi places. We got served quickly at a peak time and didn't have to wait long for food. Everyone enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was good.
R. S.
You want sushi, oh yes, you definitely want sushi, and Bonzai is the right place to hit up. It is made fresh, tastes amazing, and blows certain other chain sushi joints out of the water.
Recommend booking in advance, as it gets pretty busy, though we managed to get a walk up seat by the window. The service is quick and snappy, just like the food. Great for an evening meal.
A. B.
Good pre-theatre dinner here. The tofu bento box was good, with crispy tempura and sweet tofu. But the ramen was a bit tasteless and the yaki udon were heavy and a bit greasy. The service was also a bit hit and miss with drinks.
D. M.
Was out with my family, managed to get a table at short notice for 10pm. We were recommended by my son who said it was the best Sushi he had eaten.
Looks like a traditional simple Japanese restaurant to be found anywhere in Kyoto /Osaka.
Polite, efficient and rapid service. Was very expensive but definitely the best Sushi I've had. Adapted to western taste, in Japan it was simpler and less elaborate with less of the mayonnaise or other sauces.
Sapporo on draught in Tokyo is amazing. Struggled to drink in bottle not nice.
Would I go back?
In a heartbeat..
Thank You
R. C.
Delicious food. The shushi is the best in town. I love the green dragon. I have been to both Nottingham and Leicester restaurant all I can say is the best Shushi place I've been. It is a must to go to this resto.
W. E.
The food was okay but a bit overpriced from what you get.
The first negative I noticed were the state of the menus, please renew them as they are very faded and tired. The decor could use a bit of updating/dusting.
The staff were fairly friendly.
A lot of the sushi was westernised which is fine, but I found it hard to find simpler traditional style sushi on the menu.
R. M.
Very good sushi. Tasty, quick and simple set lunch menu was great value and perfect portion size for us. Great service and we’ll be returning for sure.
S. C.
Had an great birthday meal here with the restaurant accommodating a party of 6 with no reservation in our own private room! Food was amazing in terms of both quality and choice. Would definitely recommend.
C. M.
The food was tasty, and the lunch menu is good value for money.
However, our orders were wrong, came out at completely different times, the waiter was rude, doesn't accept card (red flag!), very cramped and all in all just a bit chaotic.
Food was great but the service is a massive let down, so won't be returning.
R. H.
Easily best sushi in nottingham. No competition. It’s expensive but totally worth it. Good service too. I left a pair of sunglasses in there years ago and one of the waitresses even tried to get them back to me. They were £1 from primark so didn’t bother but still the effort she went too was much appreciated. The presentation is amazing and totally authentic love love love x
E. C.
Best sushi in nottingham! The staff are friendly and the menu is varied. They also offer takeaway at a reasonable price.
Y. B.
Fabulous food every time I go. Had pre theatre Bento box with sake. Food and drink came out quickly, well presented and very tasty. Staff were attentive and helpful. It's only a little place and worth trying to book in advance as gets busy so walk ins not always get served.
J. R.
The food here was good, however it depends on what you order here. The food and drinks came efficiently and the staff were helpful.
A. U. (.
Great sushi! Excellent service. Good value. This place deserves repeat visits! What's not to like? Loved this restaurant!

I use to come to bonzai all the time. After covid and found someone who likes sushi I wanted to show them Bonzai. The food was lovely but the bold guy serving us had snapped at us when I was just asking my friend if she wanted to share a golden dragon roll when he asked for my order, such a arsey attitude. He was so rude and the place stunk of cigarettes and damp. Such a shame I was really hoping to come back with my family next week 😟
T. K.
Food was nice but a bit on the sweet side. Location is convenient and the service was quick too. Not too sure if this is a better alternative of the local wagamama though since its similarly priced too
A. L.
Might be the best sushi in Nottingham. They also have some cheap lunch menu options and bento boxes. Service was great both times I visited and we were asked a few times if we were happy with the food. I loved the tempura salmon avocado roll, the prawn sweet potato roll, rock shrimp and tonkotsu ramen. Only the katsu curry ramen wasn’t my favorite.
N. M.
Got this delivered, I don’t usually leave reviews but I can say this is by far the best Japanese I’ve had since coming here to notts, defo gonna be my go to place to eat! The food has so much flavour and is delicious
P. B.
Food was excellent , service a little slow had to ask to have our order taken after sitting for 25 mins and same with paying afterwards ..but overall great place to eat and would definitely recommend 👌
A. O.
The sushi was incredible, all freshly prepared and the flavours were amazing. There was a fantastic selection and the prices were very reasonable. In times of Covid, they have plastic screens between each table which is reassuring and you can tell that all the tables and facilities are cleaned thoroughly between seatings. We will definitely be going back!
J. N. (. N.
Have been many time and always loved the food. The best sushi restaurant in the centre of Nottingham - would definitely recommend
M. A.
This was the first time that I eat sushi. So so so tasty specially the spicy tempura vegetarian roll. The nodles is yummy ... However, they don't follow Covid-19 guidelines for social distancing and they don't ask the costumers to sanitise their hands before sitting
N. M.
Love this place, hands down best sushi in Nottingham. Must haves for my partner are the warm saki, prawn and veg tempura and the beautiful salt and pepper squid. All rolls are superb, service is friendly and if you fancy trying something different they do a great Korean favourite - bib bim bap, delicious!
L. C.
I love the food here, really incredible. Great range of choice as well. Good place for a special celebration. Affordable and staff don't rush you. Can't wait to go again.
S. P.
Friendly Japanese restaurant in the centre of Nottingham. Extensive menu with different dishes ranging from Sushi, Teppanyaki, Rice Bowls and many more.
Nice to be served a complimentary bowl of miso soup before my main order considering the cold weather. The Bento box was good and full of different flavours. The Dragon roll was amazing as well.
Friendly waitresses. Would highly recommended if you’re looking for causal Japanese dining.
L. S.
Fantastic food. Helpful staff. Seated us without reservation and were patient with y autism. Will definitely come again!!
E. L. W.
Great food. Always very busy and could use a spruce up but I barely notice when the food and service are both fantastic.
L. K.
Delicious vegetarian ramen, fair price only complaint is the portion was a little small and plastic cutlery.
I. G.
Great and authentic food. Service was a bit sporadic but food was great. Wish they offered some Togarashi as I feel (for me) Japanese food needs that extra zing! It's chilli powder in a bottle bought from a store so, feels like it could be a quick win. I'm still looking for a great Tofu Miso Ramen in the UK but Bonzai has decent alternatives in the meantime.
A. J.
Average. OK Sushi if there are no other options and you really want Sushi. Benefits from being one of very few places serving Sushi in Nottingham. Other dishes are not much better. On the greasy side. Thete are better restaurants locally with Japanese food. Would benefit from either trying to be more authentic or creative. Preferably both.
R. I.
Amazing food, as always. Never fails to win people over when I bring them here. I usually get the tepenyaki noodles, and if you get a starter as well, you won't finish it all. But you'll want to!
I've also never had any problems asking for a fork, as I've never been able to use chopsticks (medical reasons, don't ask).
There isn't a lot of empty space inside, so plan accordingly and don't bring anything larger than a large handbag / medium backpack.
J. C.
Very friendly service. Excellent food. Feels vet authentic. Can strongly recommend the set Lunch menu - extremely good value for money
T. C.
Great experience, extensive menu with different types of food and very tasty every time I've been there. The takoyaki and teppanyaki noodles were very good.
D. G.
The service was nice and the atmosphere is amazing. The food needs a bit more spices, primarily salt, but I can understand why they avoid putting more.
R. J.
If you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Nottingham with good food and reasonable prices then the Bonsai restaurant at the Lace market district is great choice. The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. Try the bento boxes, lots of food and not very expensive.
D. V. M.
Amazing food!!! 5 stars to the food... Owner a little sarcastic and no very polite, it seems he gets upset when you order something
A. W.
Great value for money, food is fresh and tastes amazing. If you want sushi in Nottingham or any Japanese cuisine, this is where you should go.
S. H.
Very nice Sushi! Been twice already
Dragon sushi roll was beauts!
S. x.
Was seated quickly and had some amazing satay chicken and some teriyaki noodles. Good food and nice option for authentic cuisine :)
F. L. G.
The food was really good but they must have had a problem with their drainage because there was some unpleasant smell present.
A. D.
One of the best places to eat in Nottingham. Incredible food, brilliant prices and always lovely staff. It is always the first place we go to if we decide to get food in town- can't recommend highly enough.
P. C.
The food was amazing and came in good time. Plenty on the plate and great value for money!
Would say the seating was a bit cramped and there were only tables for 2 and for 4. Very little walk way between tables but staff were all still very considerate of covid worries. Great experience, would definitely go again.
N. H.
Lovely authentic Japanese food. Edamame beans were nice and warm, spicy ramen was delicious. Full and busy but food was quick. Highly recommended
J. F.
Great food and service - my husband and I really enjoyed our lunch here. We are veggie and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. Hot sake and beers were great. Staff very attentive, kind and thoughtful. One of the reasons we are choosing to move to Nottingham :) Look forward to visiting again
A. W.
Always excellent food, but seem understaffed service-wise. Struggle to keep up with takeaway and taking dine in orders.
M. G.
top sushi and noddles will definitely recommend this place !
0. H.
Went there yesterday, wonderful food, very tasty, nice service as well, nothing to complain about!
T. N.
Fabulous place in the heart of Nottingham. Very attentive staff and the food was excellent.
J. C.
Delicious food as always.
Good social distancing.
Don't expect food to come out in "usual order" as it comes when it is ready, but I like that and if you are sharing starters and sushi, it gives you a little gap between trying things which is great.
Had takeout via Deliveroo before and that was great too!
H. B.
Brilliant food but service was absolutely shocking; everything came out at random times, brought rice instead of noodles, and my mother in law is still waiting for a Miso Soup! Lovely people but quite forgetful.
M. C.
Fresh and tasty. Really interesting menu and great service.
F. C.
Ill be back soon. Real Authentic Japanese food
D. R.
This is by far my favourite sushi place in Nottingham. Definitely a hidden gem. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable.
S. S.
Amazing place, went with my boyfriend for my birthday and it was so nice, the food is great!
T. L.
Overall a great experience; the sushi is lovely and prices are reasonable. Just some small details that lost this place a star; the toilets were messy; the door doesn’t shut in one of the stalls and cubicles are almost impossible to get into. Outdoor table also could have done with a wipe down.
J. D.
Bonzai is an unassuming looking restaurant in Nottingham city centre, making it something of a hidden gem. If you're even vaguely interested in Japanese food it's definitely worth a visit. All the usual dishes are on offer including above-average sushi, teppanyaki, noodle bowls and so on. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented in traditional Japanese style can't lie, Japanese is probably my favourite international cuisine and so I have to own some bias here. With this in mind, let me say that Bonzai's food is totally delicious. I especially recommend the noodle bowls - a simpler dish, yes, but when it's well done (and this is) it's true soul food.
Food came out a little slow when the restaurant is busy, but this is to be expected I feel. The lady staff certainly made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful with our questions about the dishes regarding the vegan members of our party last night :P
#all in all , a great night out :P
K. J.
Been waiting for food bit long but food was tasty, service was lovely, staff polite and always around if you need anything.
E. G.
Definitely a "hidden gem"! Extensive menu, fairly priced, delicious food. Only downside was that we had to wait a long time for everything, including having our drink order taken. Otherwise a lovely time!
s. w.
Great service and great food. Highly recommend.
S. D.
Really nice restaurant. Staff were helpful and offered cheaper combinations of the same meal where appropriate. Food tasted really nice and menu included dishes from other Asian countries.
J.
Awesome food and friendly helpful staff, well worth a visit 😋👌
E.
Never been disappointed or dissatisfied, always love to eat here
S. R.
Was there for dinner on Thursday. The Bento Box (minus the electrifying wasabi) was a treat! Great service! Fabulous time spent!
A. G.
Absolutely awesome food , lot of care and preparation, the presentation everything. Loved it and pricing was right on , highly recommended to try , proper traditional Japanese restaurant.
B. H.
Great quality experience, ate in, and were quickly served delicious food at a good price (£10 lunch set : soup, sushi, noodles). Drinks were a low price of about £3. Toilets also clean and good atmosphere!
K. “. S.
Nice food, gets very busy and can be a little disorganised, owner looked very stressed.
Will definitely come back again though as I love Asian food.
E. S.
I think the best in the area. High level of quality and prices are right for the food that is served. Really handmade sushi and fresh fish. They do take away, walk ins and delivery. It's going to be one of my favourite for sushi.
M. o. M. (. F. R.
Thank you for my sushi fix. I had one of your Maki rolls (£12 for an average roll). It was okay not the best I've had. The staff were really friendly thoigh but I am marking you down as the cost did not match the quality which was poorer than some takeaway places I usually get my sushi from.
V. B.
Great food!
Don't walk past... give it a try!
V. A.
Dissent quality food, really nice waitresses. Stylish interior, very good vine choice and affordable prices. Highly recommended to visit for experienced sushi lovers.
S. H.
Great service, real cosy, authentic Japanese food!
A. d.
Fantastic food, great flavours. Service was and the price was great. Would and already have recommended.
I. V.
Gorgeous food and friendly staff.
G. O.
The way this restaurant meet people by the door is weird, with some people being asked “do you have a reservation?!” While some others immediately greeting them without any question! Interestingly I called once before visiting to reserve a table to find out they don’t make reservations but rather was described as a walk in restaurant!
Y.
This is the one of best places to get sushi, honestly it is amazing, I’ve came here 3 times and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended.
J. C.
The food is amazing! The presentation is gorgeous and the menu is so good I had to stop myself ordering all of it - One of Nottingham's gems. They were cash only tonight but Sainsbury's across the road has a machine. Lovely waitress too.
H. G.
Comfort food, went for lunch and it was quiet.
L. A.
Decent local restaurant with a huge range of choice. Generous portions. Small venue that gets busy.
A. S.
Amazing food, especially the sushi!! Top notch! Would recommend to a friend.
L. N. (.
Love the setting and the food. Can't wait to come back to Nottingham again for this place
P. R.
Very Nice sushi, I will be back for this. But ramen was just ok! Lovely staff and I would def be back.
A. B.
The food was amazing and very fresh. But the reason for a three star review is because of the social distancing they had some flimsy plastic barriers up on some of the tables but where we were sat there weren't any and we had another couple sat directly next to us there was less than a foot between me and random people. They just need remove some of the tables and Increase distance between them
N. D.
Amazing food and brilliant customer service (:
C. L.
Not been for 2 years due to Covid but still as good as i remember!
Chicken Gyozas went down a storm with a very hungry 7 year old!
k. a. d. l.
The food is good.not all time same as on picture.a bit expensive....small friendly.service is fast.
S. J.
In my personal opinion I think the food was a bit overpriced. Was ok but not blown away by it.
C. M.
Service was not terrible but they did get the order wrong several times.
The food was mediocre. Notably the tempura was aweful and most of the items I had tasted pre-packaged from frozen. As I said not aweful but I didn't feel like I was good value for money.
L. P.
The place is brilliant. Great staff and the food was amazing ❤
D. G.
The best food ever and lovely staff 10 out 10.
S. I.
Awesome Japanese food, much better than the big brands around. If you’ve been to Asia, come here.
R. R.
Food is quite good and they use good quality fresh fish, but I dont think its anywhere near the price. We asked for no cucumber because of an allergy but most the food came out with it anyway. Not really any social distancing in place. The tables are places very close.
G. S.
The food is amazing here, it has a lovely atmosphere and the service is fantastic. They have a very friendly team. My 2 yr old niece loved it she was even given a small bowl of rice to tide her over while we waited for food and was given grapes afterwards by a very lovely and thoughtful member of staff! We loved it here.
A. C.
Great food, authentic feel.
R. R.
My favourite Japanese restaurant! I've missed eating there during lockdown but we've just ordered take-out and it didn't disappoint! Highly recommend the Crunchy Tuna sushi, my absolute favourite dish.
C. B.
Been a good few times and it's pretty good value. Always enjoy the food I order and the Menu is nice and varied and doesn't take too long to arrive and looks good as well as being a good potion size. Decent attentive staff too. I've Always paid by card and never had and problems with that, so the reviews complaining about this must be rare instances and the staff were too proud and protecting the 'honour' of the place to admit that their was a problem.(Like you typical get in Japanese Culture if you bothered doing a bit of research into cultural differences. When it is run by mostly Japanese Staff why wouldn't you expect them to be like this?)
I'd recommend it for those who like Japanese Cooking and want a decent fill up. There's too many chain places and this is cosy and authentic so wish them well for many years to come.
S. C.
Such a lovely surprise and find. Staff are friendly, the sushi rolls were SO fresh! We had the White Tiger and it was delicious. Beef was also cooked perfectly. Great light dinner, will be back
J. R.
Just had a lovely dinner here. Been here a number of times and never disappointed. Authentic feel with great sushi, generous portions and brilliant price. Would recommend to anyone.
R. X.
I love Bonzai, the food is great and good prices. It's my favourite place to eat out. They bring food out as it's ready which me and my other half quite like. We always get sushi and a rice bowl to share. The atmosphere is really good too!
A. B.
The food is excellent. The staff, however, are not very friendly specially the older ones. I recommend takeouts.
N.
Good, fast, photo perfect sushi and didnt mind that I asked for a spoon for the soup. Could use a bit of extra decoration or a few Instagrammable spots.
Y.
Nice place. Genuine mix of Japanese dishes and other meals from Asia. Very tasty Sake at the right temperature. Crowded place with lot of people poping in every 10 minutes, gives to this restaurant a special taste of Asia, we like it.
A bit down on the desserts as expected, but very nice choice from starters to mains.
We'll come back!
A. J. (.
This place has fast become our new favourite. Good value for money and generous portions.
Z. K.
Tastiest sushi that I had so far and huge menu! Place is very small with tables literally right next to each other and barely enough space to sit between cramped people. Lack of privacy eating and sometimes have to stand up to let people pass through wich is quite disturbing. Waiting time was long, but worth the wait and prices are very high. Will not go back anytime soon unless they make some more space, but definitely recommend to someone who haven't tried it and is sushi lover.
K. D.
Had a boat load of sushi and sashimi. We are it all because it was so yummy. It was loads of food!
S.
Enjoyed an excellent Friday meal. It is definitely of my favorites Japanese restaurants in Town. Excellent food, exotic restaurant and fantastic customer service. I recommend
o. m.
on day visit to the university, dropped in here by chance. what a great place, excellent food and service. if your here and like sushi do not miss this place!
E. B.
The staff is lovely and they offer amazing value for money on their takeaway menu. They easily offer double the amount of food compared to other sushi restaurants in the vicinity. I have yet to try dining in here, but they were lovely and attentive as I waited for my food.
J. N.
We came in for a quick meal today just before last orders (sorry guys) and were greeted by 1st rate customer service and a really good meal. Higher price point but definitely worth it. Will be visiting again soon.
J. Y.
Reasonable price with amazing food. Friendly staffs and nice environment.
K. P. R.
Important: They are currently cash only.
Otherwise, great. Been twice and had the Teppanyaki both times. First time with noodles then rice.
P. O.
lovely place, great food and service
N. G. C.
Amazing food. Loved the Golden Dragon. Nice atmosphere and they were able to accommodate group when we came for lunch after a long day of sight seeing in Nottingham. 10/10 would come again when visiting the city.
J.
Always amazing food. The staff are welcoming, and now they have done the inside up it's even nicer. I would recommend to anyone who likes the type of food. (get the Salmon Sashimi as a starter, you won't regret it)
F. t. O.
Where to start...Clean and very cosy environment, the staff work hard to please their customers, very diverse menu and price ranges, and it comes to your table pretty quick. Only con I can think of is the western pop music I heard them playing won’t please everyone.
It’s a good place to spread out one’s taste in Eastern cuisine. One of my absolute favourite restaurants in Notts!
J. A.
A bit chaotic, we where in a hurry to eat and they where very busy. Food was a little disappointing, service minimal.
A.
We absolutely loved our deliveroo from
bonzai, it was amazing! The sashimi was particularly good. We can’t wait to actually be able to visit for a true experience. Thank you for the delicious sushi
S. R.
The staff were super nice eventhough it was hard to get us in and they were clearly busy. Despite that, everything was super delicious and some of the best food I'd eaten. The atmosphere was great!
H. A.
The food here is exquisite. My partner and I go often for their noodles with garlic butter sauce, which you can get with either a meat or tofu topping. And the prices are very reasonable. I've given four stars instead of 5 because the service can be quite slow and inconsistent, even on regular days. Moreover, they only have one main vegetarian sushi option, which is quite surprising given the rapid spread of veggie and vegan foods lately. Every other sushi spot in Nottingham has a much wider veggie/vegan range, so Bonzai should adapt to meet the needs of a changing world.
D. 4.
This is my favourite sushi place. I've been to many! It's a tiny hidden gem. Yes, it's a little worn but it's Great menu, great staff, Cosy and laid back atmosphere make up for that. A must.
s. f.
Worth every star 🌟. Sushi is heaven. The bento is fabulous. My twin girls are sushi crazy and even make their own, but constantly want to come here.
1.
Staff were lovely, food was absolutely incredible had the best Ramen Ive ever had (I’ve had a lot). Definitely recommend to anyone who wants an amazing authentic Japanese meal. (Duck spring rolls were the best spring rolls I’ve also ever had)!!!
S.
I was only in Nottingham for the day as a pit stop and was looking for a place to eat. I chose this restaurant as I enjoy oriental food and the food was perfect! I ordered the green dragon prawn dish; so much care and detail was put into the presentation and the food was delicious. Not to mention excellent customer service. If I ever pop into Nottingham again, I will definitely be coming down here
L. C.
The best we’ve tasted so far 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A. R.
My girlfriend has been trying to take me here for ages, went and its amazing! Enough food to feel full, unlike other hipster places in Nottingham! Amazing value also! Will be back for sure.
S. B.
Myself and my partner thought we would try this reataurant after being recommended by bar staff at hockley arts club. We werent disappointed! The sushi was amazing!!!! although We ordered way too much! It came beautifully presented on a little wooden boat! Prices were not too bad and service and atmosphere was lovely. It had an authentic feel. We will definitely recommend to others. :)
B. T.
Brilliant food and excellent service. They have a really nice and extensive selection of various dishes. Everything I had was fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be visiting again.
N.
Really good food. Arrived a little late for our reservation but they were more than accepting and seated us right away. Prices are slightly higher than what I would normally pay but the food definitely was worth it.
L.
Really good food, never disappointed. As well as a large selection of sushi and noodles including ramen they also have rice bowls with different toppings including bibimbap. They have recently just redecorated and it looks lovely. A great little place to get some great food!
M. B.
Great food, not too expensive, and lovely staff. Wonderful experience
V. V.
Very appetising, very impressed!
N. A.
The food is wonderful but the service is not
Z. S.
Nice food and relatively cheap, big portions. However, their service is very poor - very slow due to being understaffed during busy times, waitresses had to be reminded to bring various things like soy sauce, tap water etc.
E. “. e. n. G.
Food was delicious but service needs work.
K. C.
Ramen and rice are tasty. Soup is good. It will be more convenient if I can pay by contactless card.
S. M.
Great little place, lovely food and good service
T. P.
One of my favourite places to eat, been many times over the last few years: always delicious and good value. Only complaints are the veggie selection is a bit limited (but hey, their speciality is ace sushi/sashimi) and sometimes service is a little slow. Always very friendly, never a bad visit.
J. S.
Incredible service and food. We love it here and always come back time and time again. The standards get better each time we come back and the price is very competitive for the quality of the food.
Friendly atmosphere and in the heart of Nottingham can't compliment enough :)
S. D.
I have been going to Bonzai for a while now, and it's one of the only places I can say I have never had a bad experience as a regular patron. Every time I go, my expectations are exceeded no matter what I order. Love this place.
K. G.
Very polite staff, authentic food. Nice lunch deals. The only place that got majority of my friends into sushi.
The only downside is the run-down facilities and ladies room.
M. K.
The one and only sushi place in Nottingham that serves authentic and tasty sushi! Always go for the sumo platter 😍
J. W.
Tasty, the teppanyaki set is great value for money! My 10th or so time here! Only criticism is the food comes out a bit randomly, I thought I wasn't getting my hand roll as it was presented to me after everyone had finished eating the 2 starters and main course!
L.
Food was really good quality but service is very slow, they brought us the bill 3 times before we had had all our food.
M. C.
Food is awesome, but there is too much a crowd and social distancing is completely impossible. Would rather pay more for a quieter experience.
J. W.
The food is excellent, I really like the sushi and especially the bibimbap, it’s always been consistently good but the service is what let’s this place down. Its good value for money and the lunch offer menu is very reasonable despite service.
P. M.
Good value and quality, especially the sashimi. The noodle dishes are very nice too, different types of noodles and sauces to mix and match. Staff is always very friendly and generally pleasant atmosphere
C. R.
Great food, and great service. Would eat there again. A wide variety of choice to choose from.
T. S.
Delicious food, wonderful decor
G. G.
The food is fresh and delicious, service is 10/10 and whole experience has been exceptionally great every time I have visited. They're always happy to accommodate larger groups at short notice too which is good. Highly recommend the ichiban bento box!
E. C.
Wonderful food, great vegan options too even though sushi is the main part of their menu. Loads of hot food options if you like ramen or udon. The kitsune soup udon is my favorite.

Good food for a pretty good price and the staff was friendly. The wasabi was way too mild for my taste, I hoped this was because we got served "wasabi for westerners" but sadly this was not the case. Would recommend (but maybe bring your own wasabi if you really like getting your nosehairs burned out haha).
Z. F.
Friendly staff, delicous and nicely served food.

Today my significant other and I went ice skating, and afterwards, wanted a dining experience equally as cool.
The contemporary, clean yet homely exterior of Bonzai caught our attention, and a quick glance at the menu was all we needed. This is where we shall eat. Here. It's settled then! The food was as fresh as a hillscape breeze, and the service as fast as a tiger. The gyazo was large, soft and thick - much like my girlfriend.
J. H.
I've been to a lot of sushi and noodle places over the years and this one is definitely up there. I could eat the rice vermicelli noodles with spicy Korean sauce until I passed out and the gyoza are the best I've ever tasted. Can't wait to go back.

We eat here regularly, mainly when we are off to the cinema. It’s always a great meal, reasonably price for the portions you get and friendly service. Great sushi place in Nottingham👌🏻
c.
I went with my Japanese friend who said the food is not really authentic but we both agreed it was tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful, it was quiet when we visited and we got served really quickly which was great as we had a train to catch
S. H.
Best sushi I have ever had. I wish this place was in Sunderland 😭
L. L. (.
Small Japanese restaurant in the heart of Nottingham's Lace Market. Not the best service, they get a bit mixed up and starters come at the same time as the mains. However, the food is so much tastier than mainstream restaurants such as Wagamamas.
D. D.
Try the plum wine. I recommend it. We ordered the deluxe sushi platter and were very happy with it.
Nice casual place to hang out and get your sushi fix. Bathrooms could be better.
R. W.
I've been here a few times and the food is always good. I particularly like the dragon roll sushi and the Bonzai Bento Box.
Prices are OK; it's not a cheap place to eat, but it's not overpriced either and the quality is good.
L. H.
Wow....! Incredible sushi selection, incredible service, stellar atmosphere in the heart 💙 of Nottingham England 🇬🇧 We were visiting from Canada 🇨🇦 🌎✈🌍 and we were extremely pleased with our dining experience here.... highly recommended, and would stop in again for sure!👍

My favorite sushi in Nottingham. Service acts a little unprofessional, but they compensate with effort and kindness AND sushi here is the best!
Definitely recommended to experience tasty and rich sushi worth money.

Food is good, but the toilets are very dirty. And so was the highchair we got for our baby. This place needs a good cleaning, cause it could be great!

A. J.
Pretty decent value for money. It's not outstanding but everything is pretty tasty and nice. Always a good option in lace market

Really good food, never disappointed. As well as a large selection of sushi and noodles including ramen they also have rice bowls with different toppings including bibimbap. They have recently just redecorated and it looks lovely. A great little place to get some great food!
