I wasn't sure what to expect when I started my course as I was a total beginner. Both Cassie and Sam have a wealth of knowledge. Sam is such a good teacher she explains and encourages you. By the end of the week you are amazed by what you can achieve. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants the basics in jewellery making.

I recently attended a beginner course with Cassie, it was great fun and we achieved so much in such a short space of time AMAZING.
Cassie is a excellent teacher with a wealth of experience and knowledge who obviously enjoys seeing how her students progress.

I completed an eight day beginners course and felt I'd learned so much in that time.
Excellent teaching with top notch expertise and equipment.
Cassie is a very friendly and approachable teacher making the learning fun as well as informative.
I have been inspired to carry on with the courses and learn more techniques.

I learnt a lot and really enjoyed the course. Cassie is a skilled tutor: she not only gave hints and tips but also explained why things happen as they do. I joined the course with a few specific things that I wanted to learn but came away with so much more. A great experience

I attended the 5 day beginner course at the end of July and had very low expectations of the quality of work I would be able to produce. I underestimated my self. With Cassie's well developed course and Sam's patient and clear teaching I was able to produce 8 pieces of jewellery all using different skills and techniques and the majority of them are ones that I will wear. I was able to reproduce some of the items in silver with Sam on hand to provide advice and although I had no long term goal when enrolling I will definitely consider joining further short courses with the school. The location is really easy to get to, the 2 workshops well equipped and the staff welcoming and knowledgeable.

I started with the beginners course and it exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t wait to start designing and making my own pieces. There is nothing Cassie doesn’t know about making / fixing jewellery and the newer more spacious workshop is a lovely space to learn in.

I attended a 5 day beginners course in July 21. It was fantastic, I had so much fun and learnt tons. The whole class was amazed at how quickly we were making our first items and we all walked away with some amazing items. Cassie is so knowledgeable and is a fantastic teacher.

Cassie is an excellent tutor and provides a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for learning.
She is highly skilled and knowledgeable in all techniques, and gives you the confidence to try new things and challenge yourself every step of the way.
The Beginners course is a fantastic introduction to jewellery design and construction.
Highly recommended!

Cassie is a highly skilled tutor with many years of experience in jewellery business and teaching her craft. The workshop is very well stocked with all the tools you can’t afford to buy yourself! So with a small investment for your own “every day” tools you will soon be producing beautiful pieces.
Classes are informal and friendly, yet safety conscious. You will be dealing with heat, flames, fast moving machines and potentially dangerous chemicals so Cassie ( and all of us) ensure safety is not at risk.
Also important to me is that the course is part time during weekdays. I can fit it in around my other commitments.
I highly recommend this rare opportunity for learning this amazing, productive and rewarding skill.

What a fantastic experience the beginners SoMJ jewellery course is! I loved every minute and it immediately became the highlight of my week, so much so that I intend to join the other weekly classes as soon as I am able to.
Cassie is a brilliant teacher and has a wealth of experience which she clearly loves passing on to her students. Lessons are fun and informative.
A member of staff at Cooksongold told me, “You’ve landed on your feet getting onto Cassie’s course”, and I couldn’t agree more.
From the first lesson you come away with a lovely creation to wear, or gift to a friend. The equipment you have access to is brilliant and Cassie guides you through how to use it all as you make varied pieces of jewellery. However, everything that you make in class you can replicate at home with a much more modest set of equipment, which is detailed during lessons, including where is best to source it.
I met such a lovely group of people and am happy to say that we are keeping in touch and sharing our progress, now that we have completed our beginners course and are budding jewellers!
If you’re thinking about booking onto a course, go for it - you will love it!!

I recently attended the 8 week beginner course with Cass and I cannot recommend it enough! I already feel confident enough to start making my own jewellery at home and, in fact, I enjoyed it so much I actually signed up to the weekly course as well!

Cannot recommend this school enough. I'm now in my 3rd year at SoMJ and started as a complete beginner. Cassie is an AMAZING teacher who's knowledge of every aspect of the jewellery business is incredible. The studio itself is a wonderful environment to learn in, right in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. Sign up now - you won't regret it!!!

I completed the beginners course after Christmas this year (2018) and couldn’t believe what we achieved in those eight weeks, I definitely got ‘the bug’. I returned after Easter then re-enrolled onto the new academic year this September. I’ve made jewellery in silver and gold, I’ve even melted down old unwanted gold and turned it into a new beautiful bangle I couldn’t be more proud of. Cassey our teacher guides and encourages you so that you learn and improve all the time. I attend one full day a week, I’m with like minded people who are fun to be with. Being in the jewellery quarter you have a wealth of knowledge and expertise on your doorstep from polishers to setters bullion dealers and diamond merchants- how amazing is that!

I've learnt everything I know from Cassie. She is a fantastic teacher, communicator and confidence-builder, with a vast amount of experience and technical skill. She's great with complete beginners, experienced jewellery-makers and every level in between. The SoMJ studio is a delight to work in - light and airy, conveniently located and very well-equipped.

Great place to really learn about making jewellery, you are taught by real master craftsmen of the trade.
Great facilities everything you ever need to create what ever your imagination desires.

What a brilliant time I had and learnt so much, Cassie is such a good teacher and incredibly knowledgeable. I'm not someone who posts feedback as a rule, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend attending one of her courses. Looking forward to my next course and the next stage in my learning !

The School of Master Jewellers is a fantastic learning space that gives you the freedom to follow your own path of jewellery making. Both from an amateurs perspective, starting out a new hobby or professional jeweller, continuing their career and renting a workspace.
I love coming to the SoMJ each week, Cassie is a great teacher with knowledge and patience to help you out whenever you need it.
Being in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, I feel I am in the best position I can be in to begin my own career in Jewellery.

Great location in the heart of the jewellery quarter. Cassie is a brilliant teacher with an incredible skill set, I don't know what I'd do without her! No job too complex or challenging, wonderful environment to learn in.

Cassie's classes are brilliant. Whether you are a beginner or experienced she just helps you as much as you need/want. Really friendly atmosphere and very well equiped studio. She knows everything you could possibly need about the trade too.

The School of Master Jewellers could not be better placed - in the Big Peg in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. I have been making jewellery for many years but find Cassie's experience and teaching skills invaluable in learning new techniques.

Absolutely loved our day here. Did a one day taster course and had a great time, the instruction from Cassandra was super and we were so pleased with what we managed to make. Highly, highly recommended.

I've been going to the SOMJ for a year now and will never go anywhere else.
Cassie gives you the freedom to make your own designs, but is there to make sure you cover all techniques. With Cassie's guidance, I know I can make anything. It is lovely to work in a new, well-equipped, bright workshop.
