I have recently purchased a 9ct gold half hunter watch and Albert chain from Ullmans. The service from this lovely long established jewellers was exemplary. The initial watch I chose was, after some consideration by me, not quite right so Max sourced another half hunter watch which was just what I wanted. There was no problem exchanging the watch and chain and, as I don’t live in London, the watch was posted to me after some minor adjustments were made free of charge. I made a purchase from Ullmans some years ago (a signet ring for my son) and had similar service then. I have full confidence in this business and would recommend it without hesitation.

I went to every vintage jewellery dealer in London looking for an engagement ring. I found the best selection and by far the best service and prices at Andrew Ullmann. If you're tired of smarmy salesmen, go to Andrew Ullmann a family shop where they really care you get the right thing, always treat you fairly, and don't pressure you.

I was recommended Ullmanns by a colleague of mine who said I should definitely go to them for anything relating to antique rings. On meeting the wonderful Max and his father, I knew we made the right call to go to them. Max helped us with our request and was so patient and accommodating to my many questions behind the history of my engagement ring that I felt completely at ease. You'd be hard pressed to find another jewellers in London who will take the pains to help you and be so down to Earth! We subsequently went back to get my fiancé's wedding band done there too!

I had an amazing experience here today, I can't recommend them enough. This is a lovely family run business, who care about the work they do and the pieces of jewellery they work with. I am so pleased I chose the Ullman family for my valuation, resize and to check the setting of a precious family heirloom I had been gifted as an engagement ring. I took the ring in a midday and received a call within an hour to say it had been completed and was ready for collection, all at an incredibly fair price comparatively. Will be returning.

I have no idea why there are so many 1 star reviews. We brought my engagement ring from this shop and also our wedding bands. They have always been friendly and welcoming and let our dog come into the shop. We will be returning again if ever we need in the future. They have a wonderful selection of antique rings.

This is a treasure trove of an antique jewellery store. They cater for a wide range of budgets and have options to suit everyone. I’ve been back several times and always found what I’m looking for. I’ve personally found the service wonderful, but would recommend you bear in mind this is a small, family run outfit. In taking the time to make sure each customer finds exactly what they are after, you might have to wait a bit. I promise you the wait is always worth it.

This is an interesting store. It's family run which is very apparent with some fairly eccentric owners. They sell vintage wedding bands as well as engagement rings (which seems fairly unusual) as well as all sorts of bits and pieces - lockets and watches. Well worth a look. The service is patchy, depending on who you get and how busy they are. It's a bit of an experience of an old school antiques jewellery store for good and bad. Not sure I would get work done by them (based on other reviews) but their antique stock is definitely worth a look if you're after vintage pieces.

The woman serving us was so friendly and attentive and gave us all the time and space we needed to pick the perfect ring. A great range of unique antique rings available at an amazing value and they offered us a discount without us even asking, with resizing included. A charming old-fashioned jewellers and family-run business. It's a nice contrast to the 'Brick-Lane'-style hawkers in the same area. And great for finding unique, vintage and antique pieces. I brought my engagement ring from here it was amazing. The lady at the counter was so nice she was kind and not pushy at all. She showed me a couple of rings but we decided on the ring that suited my fiance the best and not the most expensive ring which was strange. 5 days later when I picked it up it was amazing the transformation it went through. It was about 100 years old so they cleaned up the diamond and the Metal it was outstanding I was so impressed everything about this place is very very very good. I will definitely be coming back to pick up my wedding bands from here.

Wonderful shop! After looking online, it was the first place we went in our search for an antique engagement ring -- and we didn't have to go anywhere else. The service was warm and friendly, and the lady who assisted us listened to our description of what we wanted and knew what we were looking for better than we did. Amongst the Hatton Garden landscape, one jeweller stands out by miles. A R Ullmann is an absolute treasure trove of beautiful antique jewellery. To even enter the shop is a treat, and anyone who has an appreciation of antiques, will want to spend all day here. A complete juxtaposition from the rest of Hatton garden, this family run business become your friends throughout the process. When you leave with your dream ring, you feel as though you’ve bought from an old family friend; you trust the whole family who are honest, decent, warm and friendly and there is something intensely comforting about choosing the Ullmann family to buy from. My experience with this special little shop started over the summer. It turns out there are very few true antique jewellers in London and I emailed Max to ask him if he had in stock, a particular ring. Very unusual, very specific in terms of what I wanted and I honestly didn't expect to find it. Max managed to source a ring that was not only close to what I wanted but far, far exceeded my request. The ring he found for me is exceptional, very rare and very beautiful. I came to see it and to meet him and instantly felt very choked up. Needless to say after my fiancé met him and saw the ring too, we bought it. The lovely thing about buying from this shop and this family is just that – it’s a proper, traditional family business which means you totally buy into the heritage and experience. A R Ullmann is a very rare find in London - you buy from real people and this such a contrast to the rest of the Hatton Garden experience. You never feel conned, or pressured, or vulnerable to a sales trick and all of them, just being as kind as they all are, means it’s hard to feel anything other than completely trusting. I cannot recommend this shop enough. The hypnotic and beautiful gems in the window leave you pressing your nose up to the glass like a child in a sweet shop but it’s only when you step inside that you feel a true sense of special. We can’t wait to go back for the wedding rings and it goes without saying for anyone who has an appreciation for antique jewellery, this little shop cannot come any more highly recommended – it’s an absolute delight.

Searching for wedding bands, we were a bit disheartened by the identikit shops around Hatton Gardens that look like they’re trying to sell you a mortgage or car, but Ullmans is a gorgeous vintage oasis amongst this! The lovely lady that helped us allowed us to take all the time we wanted, and reassured us that all the beautiful old rings could be resized (and very reasonably), and gave us the fascinating history about the halllmarks and where the rings had come from.
