Reviews of Bermondsey Antique Market

Also known as Bermondsey Antique Market, this is a regular market of local traders selling a mixture of antiques and collectables. There were a lot of dinner sets, cutlery and jewellery on sale and a few stalls selling clothes and and military memorabilia. I especially like some of the stalls selling coloured glass. Everything that was marked with a price seemed reasonable, but I didn't try to haggle for anything that was unmarked.
Could be a quick or long visit depending on what you're interested in.

Not sure about the quality of the artefact and other wares stalls in the market or whether they're especially worth something, but the food unit is great value. Very friendly service too. Wouldn't go anywhere else for my Friday lunch during a working week.

I ended up my travel here at antique market. There were many things interesting but quite expensive compared to the one in the middle row in front of the entrance where a boy was selling stuff. But nice experience tho

Good market, visited way back to home from Southwark park road.

Always been a decent market. My first time back in a few years. Still good.

The best of London's remaining markets, the dealers are very friendly and knowledgeable and the stalls are full of interesting antiques & collectibles, recommended.
L. F.
Smaller than expected. Odd atmosphere as antiques are sold in an outdoor space that has been renovated as have buildings adjacent to the open area where market is located. Can find interesting things at reasonable prices, sometimes. Sellers are knowledgeable about their items and are friendly.

A lot of great stuff on the market.

This antique market used to be quite large and busy. The local authority sadly built flats around it and it has survived in a smaller form. It still has some cool items especially antique jewellery and original items to give your home that trendy bohemian look. It opens very early on Friday mornings and tapers off around 1pm.

Went because it was on a list of top things to do in London<?!>. Definitely pop in if you're in the area, but it's very small, and the morning I went there were quite a few empty stalls. On the plus side the "antiques" are cheap.
A. P.
visited the antiques market on a cold and wet Friday in May, so the market was a bit short on stalls. Lots of silverware and jewellery for sale. The stall holders despite having been there since 4am were cheerful and helpful. Would recommend a vist on a warmer day.

Great day some good stalls liked the mud larks stall selling medieval & roman finds great ....but some of the foreigners selling things haven't got a clue trying g to sell things that a worth a £10 for £100 when you tell them they get annoyed so avoid being g riped of stick to what you know .
T. L.
Not bad market, could be better

Small weekly farmers market on Saturdays until 2pm. There aren't that many stalls, but it manages to cover all the basics. It's due to move to another location from January however. Not to be confused with the antiques market, which is in the same place, but on Friday mornings.

Bermondsey market has a very welcoming atmosphere and full of interesting characters. There is a wide range of food and products on offer. When the sun is shining you should head down to south of the river. It is rather edgy but in a good way.

Look out for StockMkt, an irregular night market held here. You'll find music, food, drink and an array of fashion and handicrafts to be had. We visited mainly for the food which was mostly excellent although someone was selling deep fried brownies - wrong on so many levels! It was busy and some lines were long but one of the organisers was running around apologising to everyone as he'd apparently been surprised with the popularity of the event! We'll be back.

Now here's a misnomer, for sure.
"Flea Market" a more appropriate name for this lacklustre congregate of 'objets d'art', discards, 'collectables' and collateral tat.
The diehard accumulator, a dedicated rummager or compulsive crate-digger might disagree - but then again, probably not.
For the feint-art-ed.

Love this market.. unfortunately is only until 12pm so get there early. Lots and lots of things in a small and not croweded place take at least 2hrs to walk arpund here as there is so much to see and cheap things too =)

My wife hasnt stopped talking about this place. Cheap antiques from people who know the history of the items. If you like antiques make sure you allow time for a visit to this area.

Bermondsey Market is a good market place for buying second hand stuff.
It is very busy and very hard to walk around.
If you want to find lost goods go to Bermondsey Market.

I rarely buy here but there are loads of stalls on a Friday with interesting things.

If you used to this to come to this market 15 years ago then be prepared for a shock. Back in the day this was a must visit for dealers and collectors alike. There were tons of stalls and the items on offer ranged from complete tat to extremely rare antiques. The prices were reasonable and haggling was king.
The current market however is a hugely impoverished version of its former greatness and I would second other reviewers who describe it more as a flea market than an antiques market.

(Translated) We didn’t have time to enter this market, because it works until 14, but in fact, at 13, everything was already assembled and almost dispersed! But from what we saw out of the corner of our eye, there was a lot of interesting things!
(Original)
Не успели на этот рынок, т.к он работает до 14, но по факту в 13 уже все были собраны и почти разошлись! Но из того что мы краем глаза увидели, было много всего интересного!

(Translated) The original thief city. In the past, it was interesting with a mysterious atmosphere, but redevelopment has progressed into a stylish area. There are hotels and cafes and it's bright.

(Translated) It is not very big but it is very peculiar, it is convenient to get up very early, arriving later than 7am is arriving late. The combination of night buses to get there doesn't help much either. Still, the experience of buying by flashlight (which you have to carry) in an old thief market is worth it.
(Original)

(Translated) Nice old-fashioned antique market with some new trinkets. Take a delicious cup of super-strong black tea with milk and sugar and wander through all kinds of messes and wonderful finds in the morning. They find negotiating quite difficult, maybe that is something of the British ?!
(Original)
