Brilliant art, stupid pricing of course...but very enjoyable.

W. L.What a privilege to see such a vast collection of antiques up for auction in a few days. The contemporary tables are by British artist.
C. M.First time here, pass by and decided to walk in and see what's like to be in Sotheby's. And I am glad that I did, my experience was wonderful, saw lots jewelry and arts soon to be auction off. Some are belong to Marie Antoinette. They offer drinks and coffee to all guests not discriminating if you are a buyer or not which is very nice.
A. W.This iconic auction house is more accessible than you may think. Do not be intimidated by it! The open exhibits are meant to be viewed by the public. On now is a preview of David Bowie's private art collection, set to be auctioned off on November 10 and 11, 2016. Pieces in Bowie's collection are from Damien Hirst, Basquiat, Henry Moore and others. Who knew that Bowie was such a collector!?
Tip: If you missed this preview, (which ends on August 9, 2016), come back in early November (1st to 9th) to see the rest of the collection before it is auctioned off. Also, don't miss the sketch by David Jones (aka David Bowie).

G. W.You possibly think you have no business here, but I urge you to reconsider.
Sotheby's often has pre-auction viewings which are open to the public. You'll often see a better range of quality stuff (whatever it is that's on) than you would at a gallery or museum.
Also- whether you're a collector or not, it doesn't take long to enrol, and buying stuff needn't cost the earth.
I recently went to the Bowie sale and had a blast watching his typewriter sell for mad money. (estimated to fetch £300 - it sold for more than £45k) :0 see pics...
Also: the cafe is a very good choice for your brekkie

L. H. S. (.An impressive place. Elegant, diverse and enlightening. From modern art to Middle Eastern ancient, highly recommendable to be visited. It is a kind of museum free of charge and v comfortable to walk in. Exquisite pieces of art and not very busy! Friendly and helpful staff, toilets available and restaurant too. K. G.We went to view an exhibition called 'Masters of Design'. It features hundreds of previously unseen drawings by celebrated jewellery houses such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron, Verdura, Rubin and Bolin. It was free to get in and had so many beautiful designs. I enjoyed it do much that I didn't want to leave. We went especially to see it for Mother's Day and finished with a meal out. It was a lovely day.

E. K.This is a more intimate version of the NYC house where you can catch an auction amidst romantically incandescent retail outposts. The Contemporary show (that night) featured a brisk sampling of the usual names. My favorite was a referential piece by Nate Lowman. I felt impish holding a good old-fashioned paddle (table tennis, anyone?) The seats are just plain uncomfortable. So, if you dare not sit through an event, do visit the previews because these pieces rarely grace the public museums!

P. S.If you think a visit to a World-class auction House might be an intimidating experience, think again. At Sotheby`s you will be given a warm welcome and the freedom to view art featuring in upcoming auctions (it was Impressionism and Modern Art the day I visited). It`s a rare chance to view stunning pieces in private ownership as they change hands. Did I mention the friendly, helpful staff and complimentary coffee? London`s best kept secret, go!
R. B.I Was very lucky to have seen the entire collection of political cartoons collected by Jeffrey Archer. Sotheby's is an amazing place with lots of room. What a pity they had to be sold!

M. I. M.Your real estate website is 💯 way more advanced than #Christies. Suggestion. Take the Zillow map principal and bring it to Europe on your high end real estate. IE zoom out and see the Continent Google Earth style with house icons on your hosts properties all over Europe. Thx
