G.Must be that time of year as I keep reviewing garden centres.
Popped into Stanway garden centre as they had patio gas and it didn’t disappoint as I can put with lots more.
Staff were lovely and good prices and an excellent range, particularly good pet range.
Parking was good and being at the stamway you don’t have to get involved with the usual Colchester weekend traffic.
Would definitely use again.

Some lovely Mothers Day plants outside the main entrance and plenty of beautiful gifts inside. There really was a lovely choice.
We were looking for a large indoor pot and found exactly what we wanted.
We didn't get to go outside the main outdoor plant section on this occasion but I am certainly going to make this my first choice Garden Centre from now on .
Service was spot on!
T.Today, 16th March 2022, I bought 2 clay pots reduced but I was charged full price. £3.99 instead of £1.50 and £12.99 instead of £5. Big difference!
I didn't realise until I got home and looked at the receipt. So annoying as it will take me an hour to go there and back to complain plus petrol. I mean to say the stickers were big and bold enough. See photos.
Otherwise I love this garden centre. I lived in Stanway 1986 to 1990 and it was always my go-to for plants. Boy, has it thrived now.
Still need to try their restaurant one day.
On the pro side, their plants are very well tended as per the photo of 5 herbs for £10.99. I've never, in 40 years of gardening, had a go at growing herbs but now that I live in a flat, with a south east facing balcony, I thought I might give them a try.
B. T.I'm not a massive fan of gardening or garden centres, but my wife seems to be drawn to them on days off....... However, this one is great it has enough to keep everyone happy. Lots of Christmas stuff at the moment, amazing selection of plants all year round and the works book shop inside. The play area is good if you have kids and want a coffee.
R. E.Garden centre was lovely. Went at in December so all the Christmas decorations where out. Ate at the cafe and the food was good, the soft play area for the kids was great. The toilets were disgusting though. Smelt bad, were was very dirty, the women's toilet were leaking dirty water and they were so cold.
N. H.Booked Afternoon Tea for my Mum's birthday at Stanway this afternoon. What a fantastic Afternoon Tea at a very reasonable price of £10.00 pp with the Family Card. Great selection of freshly made sandwiches with a lovely selection of fillings, sausage rolls, tasty cakes (especially the passion fruit cake) & scones. Lovely covered seating area and very friendly manager. Well done all - best Afternoon Tea ever - can't wait to visit again!!!
D. P.Lots of Christmas items available. The plants seem well looked after and well labelled. Wheelchair accessible although a few tight aisles as a few product displays block the way.
Overall a worthwhile visit.

It is huuuuuge and has so much under one roof including a lot of things you wouldn't expect.
At Christmas time the selection is unparalleled and truly magical, my kids like going here just to look at all the decorations.
R. B.We enjoyed walking round looking at various items in their xmas shop. We bought a couple of items at a very reasonable price and will probably return if we need something else. We will also return in the spring.
A. C.Not a bad garden centre, being a chain it doesn't quite have the 'magic' that some of the other garden centres have. Currently they have quite an extensive Christmas area...! The garden centre also has a small area for regatta clothing, a cafe with a small soft play area, and a Works shop.

Definitely worth a visit.
We took our little puppy here as she was welcome. We did phone ahead to check and she even got a little treat at the checkout for being so good.
So many different plants on offer and loads of lovely homeware and garden furniture.
Also has a little coffee shop that does loads of different food for everyone.

R. S.My sister and I went to Stanway Garden Centre, to initially look for plants and buy compost. As dogs are welcome in the garden centre and outside dining area, we decided to have a meal as well. After choosing a table and checking the menu, I went into the inside restaurant area to order our meal. I don't know how you would manage to order if you were on your own with your pet.
We both had a ciabatta mine was Brie & Bacon and the other with Chicken & Bacon served with a side salad and we shared a portion of chips. We enjoyed our meal.The food was good and reasonably priced.The staff were friendly and obliging. What more could you ask for.

S. S.Really hit the spot, beautiful and well looked after plants and shrubs or which there is a huge collection. If you can think of it I recommend they have it! Service at the till was extremely good. After buying a lovely Orchid and the trimmings, and mentioning it was a present. The woman found us a really pretty bag that it fitted into with a ribbon that she proceded to tie up nicely... Great Service thank you

I. L.I enjoyed my food, everthing clean and cleared up soon after each table became free. Asked a couple of questions in the garden centre, bought a container which contained plants in flower, it was a novel idea as it is oblong and full of flowering plants with acentral tube for the soil to be filled so the plants stay fresh.
J. S.Great garden centre . It has got a large restaurant area and lots different things to see around the nursery area too. Staff were friendly, expect one of the staff was not very helpful he was rude when asked where things were, I had to ask two other members of staff who was very helpful .

S. F.FAB THANKS.. We will be back soon. 1st visit Bank Holiday weekend January 2022. We were able to bring our dogs shopping and stopped off for coffee and cake in the warm area outside. Fantastic facilities and a lovely atmosphere from the smiley staff.

Z.Haven't been here before but my sister has. It's DOG FRIENDLY! so we took the dogs, they were spoilt by Richard who gave them sausages & brang water to our outside table. Food was great & the plant selection is fantastic, bought several plants & my sister always gets some in the sale which are always good condition. Will be back! :)

B. C.A very good local garden centre. A good gift and home area with a wide range of products. The outdoor plants are reasonably priced and seen well cared for. Well worth a visit. (Cafe, Regatta clothes and Stationary areas all there too but I didn't visit those).

S. N.We really like this garden centre. We prefer it to Mill Race in Aldham. We purchased a few bedding plants to give the bed nearest our lounge window some winter colour and got some plants for our hanging baskets to brighten the front of the house. Also picked up a few stocking fillers.

Had a very long wait for our food today as there had been a glitch in the system and the kitchen didn't receive it, the staff were fantastic about it, giving us 2 free drinks and a dessert free of charge!! We both had the fish and chips which was amazing. Will definitely be returning

H. D.Only reviewing based on the restaurant. It is extremely expensive and quite a low standard. Took me 20 minutes to make my order as the staff behind the till were slow. Chips served cold. Staff just generally quite rude and looked miserable. Soft play was nice for my little girl.
D. O.Loverly place to walk around and browse,a bit expensive but if your looking for something special this is the place to go, the restaurant was busy but we didn't have to wait long and we were very pleased with our food.
A. W.It must be Christmas season, a large proportion of the store is filled with Christmas decorations. There was a limited supply of plants though, seemed like this centre had a large array of different mini shops inside but not big enough to have a good selection.
P. O.Cafe just opened again . Albeit outside in a large marguee framework. Massive garden centre to give you many ideas but also a shop inside selling childrens books and games as well as outdoor clothes and shoes.A visit will give you many ideas especially for the Spring and Summer. Also very helpful staff. Try to support your local businesses.
L. S. (.A great little garden centre with helpful staff. My 2 daughters (4 and 2) visited and had a play in the soft play area attached to the cafe. The soft play area is a great idea but it is let down by poor hygiene and cleanliness. With a more regular cleaning regime this would be excellent. We will be back and I will amend if they improve the standards of cleanliness.
