Reviews of Rouken Glen Garden Centre
H. S.
Forth Valley Scone Rangers’ last visit to Rouken Glen cafe was something of a disaster thanks mainly to a huge queue and a long wait for service. Today (20/5/22), no such problems as there was no queue at all even at 1pm. Quite surprising. However, although comfortably furnished, the cafe is very dark except for the tables beside the window. They really ought to consider stronger lighting. The coffee was fine and for once we did without scones as we’d had one earlier elsewhere. Their cream scones did look appealing though.
I’ve never been a fan of their shop. I’ve never seen so many plastic flowers under one roof. Each to their own I suppose. The garden area is good though, if on the small side.
K. A.
What a fantastic garden centre!! If only I didn't live so far away! Amazing array of plants, gifts and garden accessories. Would need to hire a van for the plants I wanted and at great prices!
T. T.
Busy Sunday, lunch good but pricey. Freshly cooked though and service quick and efficient. Great selection of Christmas decorations if that's your thing.
L. F.
This is one of the best parks I have ever been to! So much to do, lovely woodland walks along complete with waterfall! The play park is wonderful, so much for kids of all ages to keep them occupied for hours, even has exercise equipment for adults if you feel the need! Tennis courts and a skate park are also part of the park along with a lovely pond with waterfowl, complete with a lovely cafe looking onto the pond.
S. L.
Always lots of lovely things to buy . The displays are well laid out . The cafe is a lot better than it used to be. Didn't go to outdoor area as the weather was awful.
M. C.
Fantastic park: the place is full of fun, friendly faces and would be a perfect day our if you have a dog or children. Seems safe, secure, didn't see anything wrong at all. There's a restaurant (never went in) that looks nice, a good boatinf pond and a nice waterfall. Great day out!
P. D.
Great park. Very busy, people with their children, dogs, bicycles, prams and scooters. Lovely pond with swans and 3or4 different kinds of ducks. There are squirrels too. Brilliant restaurant with lovely well mannered staff! 👍
A. G.
Great park. Lovely walks and beautiful pond. Good play park too. Always busy. Loads of dog walkers. Few places for a cuppa / bite to eat. Ranger centre worth a visit too.
g. d.
Good for kids or if your just wanting to pass some time and have a walk. We went right round to waterfall and back. Still loads more park to see
C. B.
Lovely garden centre for a wee wander and picking up some nice wee gifts at decent prices. Also enjoyed lunch in restaurant, good choice available.
G.
This is a great park in the day but be sure to visit when the Electric Glen is set up. This is in the winter evenings with various lights to give the park a completely alien yet cool look. Evwn though your familiar with it, it is a whole new perspective. Visually stunning. Keep an eye out for when its back up.
N. B.
Garden Centre & cafe nice at anytime of the year, ideal for a full day out with a walk around the beautiful park followed by a place to grab a tastey bite to eat with plenty of choice for cake lovers!
S. O.
Garden centre is dated but cafe is ok. A reasonable stop for lunch if you’re visiting Rouken Glen park.
A. G.
Had a nice wee lunch in the cafe it's been done up since the last time I was there pre pandemic all very nice and christmas display was beautiful
E. G.
Very reasonably priced, well stocked amd definitely one of the better garden centres in all of Glasgow.
E. A. B.
A beautiful park with a fantastic huge playground with accessible play equipment, a lovely cafe in the garden centre, lake with ducks and lots of smooth paths. Highly recommended.
P.
Lovely place to go with the family.
I wouldn't recommend the restaurant, it's a rip off and tastes cheaper than cheap.
J. C.
Great park suitable for all ages, love coming here with the wee one on her bike gives her a big stretch of safe path to practice on. The park caters for children with disabilities, they have specific swings which is fab. Theres plenty of room in other areas of the park for you to play ball games have picnics etc.. its an absolutely beautiful picturesque park. The pond is lovely and clean and the wildlife in it its educational for kids especially whens the swans have just given birth. The waterfall is a must to go a see. If you ever see any events on here and think should i go or not, then im saying definitely go they always put so much effort in and its a day to remember!! However the parkings abit of a nightmare!!
J.
Love this park, rain or shine, night or day. Perfect for the dog, but you do get some stuck ups that say there dog does not play, (its only a fasion accessory) or a pig that looks like a dog. Always fun For more visit me on instagram @jaspertography

This is the first time I have been in here and it was amazing. They have very unusual plants but they are quite expensive. This is a good place to go for unusual gifts. Their range of garden furniture is extensive and so is the range of imitation flowers also.. I bought a book as gift for my Sister and it is about people born in the Fifties and what life was like then also a special container for growing Orchids. Would like to go back soon to see more.
A. W.
Cafe disorganised & very loud. Hot plates of food collected by staff in a section that you queue while getting hot drinks. Not good if you have children with you
B. H.
What a beautiful place! I didn't have high expectations but what a gem? Beautiful and romantic park. And you can geocache too! There's also very good playground!
J. J.
Huge selection of plants on offer. Something for everyone.
Inside has a myriad of things. Everything from scarves to garden furniture. Plenty to catch your eye.
Also has a pet section catering for small animals as well as cats and dogs.
Last but not least, a cafe. Didn't use it this time but have in the past with no complaints.
Plenty of parking although it can get very busy. Be prepared, you may need to wait for a space. Still worth a trip.
T. T.
Good selection of plants, garden furniture, ornaments and lots of other gardening stuff. We didnt eat in the restaurant but food looked nice. Not sure if this was just a one off but checkout staff very curt. These people deal with the public every day, pkease try and be pleasant to customers. Young staff helping to pack your bag were very helpful and pleasant.
Park was lovely, very nice and plenty of parking spaces
M. H.
Lots of beautiful indoor and outdoor plants and plants pots to choose from
Very reasonably priced too! Very helpful friendly staff. Lovely place to shop in. Highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed.
B. L.
Great for walking the dogs. I prefer to go early when it's quiet. Garden center has a car park and toilet. Other places to park for free if you drive round the outskirts. Workout apparatus dotted around a large grass area, and a cool waterfall with forrest paths following a river through the park. Pond at the top with an over priced cafe.
L. D.
Glasgow has some great parks and this is one of them. Nice place to wander around and walk the dog. Stop off at the boathouse which serves great food. Public restroom there as well which is kept clean.
c. d.
Beautiful, diverse parkland with Glen walk, waterfalls, walled garden, ancient woodland, pond, play area, visitor centre.
Well worth a visit
M. S.
Roukenglen is one of the best parks we've visited with kids in Glasgow area. The glen with its paths, river and few waterfall is shaded but little explorers always find something new and interesting around. Duck pond at the top of the park is quite small, there are benches around it and a coffee bar/ restaurant which serves good food. Walled garden is ideal for those seeking some peace. There is also wildlife area with water features, logs and manmade shelters for birds, bugs, hedgehogs etc.
Playground was recently extended. It has attractions for toddlers and older children, has rubberised surface, climbing walls, ropes, slides, houses, swings, musical instruments. There is a visitors centre and toilets right next to the play park.
The park has walking paths suitable for prams or wheelchairs, park gym machines.
Skate park is one area we haven't used yet.
Access to the park is easy by busses from many directions. There is big free car parking in front of the garden centre. More parking is available near other entrances to the park.
J.
the trail, park and area is fantastic. even if you go off trail you'll still find a brilliant area. i'm just heading back from there now and we managed to find a new trail even though we've lived there for 13 years. we found a family of tadpole. hundreds of them going through the lake. theres also a garden centre if youre into that sort of thing. good for families, couples and kids. can be really crowded in certain areas but thats just because the kids huddle in one area near the park.
A. M.
Lovely place. Nice restaurant and friendly staff. Great garden centre with knowledgeable staff who will answer your questions about plants etc.
D. M.
Great place to visit. Vast selection on show, you need to take time to view it all. Christmas decorations aplenty. Would recommend a visit.
S.
Great park for an afternoon out. Brilliant children's play area. Boathouse is a great place to eat which overlooks the pond and a very good garden centre that also has a cafe.
P. K.
Excellent big park with plenty of walking to be done. Nice big modern park for the kids. There is also a little cafe for food and drink. Excellent day out for the kids
J. M.
Nice garden centre has a lot of plants and a great range of garden ornaments may be i bit expensive but they all are good cafe nice place intje the park 😀
R. D.
This park is very big with a waterfall which then becomes a water stream further down. The landscape are good as well as the pond in which there are a few Swans and other birds as well feeding on fishes. Also, there is are swings in the children play area as well. Kids will really enjoy. There also a cafe near the pond. Nice place.
A. D.
Amazing park to go to.
The parking is always crazy as it's so popular but once you get parked up and walk to the entrance everything is so close. Once you get in there's signposts for where everything is this includes a duck pond, cafe, waterfall, park. I have been 3 times and still got lots left to see. It is huge! The park is amazing. Lots of equipment for all ages!
S. S.
A hidden park in Glasgow’s East Renfrewshire community having a beautiful boat lake and to top it all the waterfalls. It’s like going through a jungle. Large open area for kids with lots of activities. All for free.
S. T.
Great big park for the kids to run about. Clean play park, lots of toilets and lots of grass for ball games.
T. D.
Had lunch yesterday with my Son a Daughter in Law had steak pie fish and chips and Scampie food and service was fabulous ..recommended
M. D.
Lovely sandwiches and cakes. Decent coffee too. Friendly staff. We'll be back!
K. C.
It's a park. Contains parky things...kids play area, duck pond, wee cafe. Pleasant enough for a walk on a sunny day
A. P.
Amazing and very beautiful place, nice pond, waterfall, garden, playground for kids, great for picnics and to have a walk, there are also toilets, you can spend a great time here with whole family
I. M.
Fab place, loads of little trails, a beautiful waterfall, and lovely pond. Will definitely be back, the dogs loved it.
J. S.
Excellent, well kept park with a big kids play area, outdoor exercise apparatus, nature trails, walled garden, lake, cafe and waterfall. Parking can be problematic at weekends, especially if the weather is good.
R. W.
Superb huge park. Great play area for the kids and a good cafe and ice cream kiosk. Shame the boats still aren't back on the lake and the ban on feeding the ducks means that most of them have cleared off to somewhere the do-gooders aren't in charge!!
G. J.
Had a couple of hours to kill in town so decided to jump a train to Whitecraigs and visit the park. Its only a 20 minute ride from Glasgow and under 5 minute walk from the station. There's something for everyone here and I could have spent hours wandering the paths and exploring. There's a restaurant in the park which I didnt visit but it was quite busy for a Monday afternoon and there's on site toilets as well. Fabulous, will return in the coming months with my camera.
D. S.
Beautiful place to visit. Waterfall and river view. Great for family and friends .
C. A.
Great for an hour's walk with dog or kids. Good trail through woodland to a waterfall, garden and glen. Some good outdoor exercise equipment also around play area. Garden centre also offers food and drink. Not far from Darnley retail park.
C. S.
Havnt been here for years so was glad to see that the restaurant has had a significant makeover. Only had tea coffee and a cake which were nice. It was however frustrating watching tables being cleared at a painfully slow pace and not very well either. Young man on clearing duty needs some training, probably a trolly and an injection of energy. Apart from that we enjoyed our visit.
K. A.
What a fantastic place. There's a great play area for the kids, and wonderful open spaces for walking or just relaxing. You can easily stay for most of the day. Take a picnic and have a party.
T. M.
Fantastic place to take the kids or even take the dogs. It's very dog friendly and has some great scenery too
E.
Chilled and nice. Love the park and the yearly winter festival at YES.
M. T.
Fantastic place to walk your dog(s), get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery. Shame that so many dog owners are failing to pick up their dogs mess though
D. M.
Probably the best park in Glasgow. Lovely walks through the glen, beautiful pond with boat house cafe, amazing adventure play park for the kids and a skate park.
M. S.
This is a really good garden centre with a lovely clean, large restaurant/cafe. Bit dissapointed this morning however? Ordered eggs on toast, but no butter on the toast and both slices of toast had been sandwiched together, like a toastie and with only ONE egg?!! A bit stingy don't you think? The normal thing would have been two eggs, one on each slice of toast? As I say, dissapointing, apart from that they do lovely cakes if your only looking for a coffee or tea. I would definitely recommend this place but please do something about the stingy eggs on toast?? Hope this doesnt apply to other meals??
S. S.
Typical garden centre & cafe. Nice place for a brew & a walk around.
L. L.
Went for lunch in there cafe always have a great range of things to eat and has plenty there for all your gardening needs as well would easily recommend here for a bite to eat or just a coffee
J. A.
Good park for kids. Good garden centre and cafe
I. A.
Nice clean park with respectful patrons.
Take my granddaughters there all the time.
Really good facilities and we'll maintained.
S. W.
Large park 20 mins south of Glasgow central by train.
Nice woodland walk taking in waterfall and
large boating lake and overall a peaceful park and nice for a stroll anytime of the day.
Beware woodland walks can be quite soggy and muddy in places.
Whitecraigs train station is adjacent to the park, so very easy to get to.
S. B.
Wonderful Park very well maintained the kids play area is enclosed keeping all dogs away from it. most people respect the rule about dogs droppings as well. Respect the park in it'll respect you.
L. M.
A bit expensive, but a good variety
Nice cafe, food is decent.
A. W.
Great park. Kids luv it here as do we. Had a nice picnic and the weather was fab x
R. P.
Great garden centre. Nice cafe but overly expensive and at Christmas time the Christmas decoration shop is AMAZING!!! They sell garden equipment, gifts, animal products and other bits and bobs.
P. M.
Nice park for a stroll. Pitty about the empty cans lying around and the pond is full os alge.
Another lively park gone downhill.
I expect the local council will take full responsibility for the decline in maintenance.
P. R.
My wife, who is the gardener, found all the seeds and plants she wanted. We were so impressed with the varieties available that we will be back at a quieter time for a longer look round - and to try the lunch menu.
K. B.
Another beautiful park aren't we lucky! Larger than it looks with loads to do. Will update asap lots to add x
N. M.
Excellent park really beautiful!
A. R.
It's a very special park....has everything anyone needs. Massive dog walks, play areas, pond, cafe and a waterfall...well notice 😁👍👍👍
K. W.
Expansive park with woodland walks, pond, big childrens' playground, tearoom, skatepark and outdoor gym equipment.
Also garden centre with restaurant and decent sized car park.
D. R.
A bit overpriced in comparison with restaurant food. Snack, pit stop food should be a good bit cheaper.
J. M.
Everything in Glasgow is amazing, parks, restaurants, people, buildings etc.
You will love it
Come and see.
S. C.
A fabulous asset to the south side of Glasgow. With a wide variety of walks and an excellent play park make sure you visit. Make sure to pay a visit to their coffee shop too. Still a joy to visit
Good range of shrubs etc.
M. 1.
Great park. Very busy. Play equipment is great.
J. B.
Great variety of plants etc and good tearoom. Tearoom on the expensive side
P. B.
Great found a new walk and a waterfall
j. W.
Beautiful park- Greta for the kids (playpark is epic with disabled swing!) Great cafe -waterfall. What more could you want.
S. W.
Lovely playground for kids and beautiful views
A. B.
Great park with great walks and out door spaces. The new woodland walk from the car park at the garden centre is worth checking out
M.
Very good large park to walk around, swing park, and fitness machine things (they don't work great though). None the less, it's still and enjoyable walk and to see a nice wee waterfall
M. B.
Good place to shop for all garden stuff nice restaurant friendly staff
M. D.
Had lunch today in the cafe and was a bit apprehensive as it had some bad reviews. The food was really good and fresh and staff were really friendly. Always best to try yourself 😊
C. B.
Beatuful big park. Great for walking your dog and letting your kids run about.
L. C.
Gorgeous Views, lovely nature trails, beautiful waterfalls- great way to spend a day out
A. P.
Passed into the centre just to see the Christmas stock. I guess it just depends on your own circumstances, but even with the cost of living and cost of goods rising, I found the prices relatively high. Yes, they do have Christmas decorations which you don't normally see elsewhere, but I will just be using the same Christmas decorations I had last year.
Very nice stuff but with my current circumstances I did not buy anything, but I am sure other buyers will be impressed with what is on offer, so have a Merry and Safe Christmas everyone 🎅
R. C.
Great selection of plants, but please tell me why you aren't dog friendly (like most other garden centres I've been to) . Think of all the dog walking/owning customers that you will out on from the park. Madness!
But the selection of plants you have is second to none and staff friendly and helpful too.
G.
I was short of.money and staff kindly let me off. Great service!
T.
Just remember to double check your bill. They charge 50p for a teapot of just hot water and 30p for a cup of hot water. Woman on till adds different charges so be careful.
N. M.
Love this place, beautiful. Always clean, well taken care of. Lovely area
T.
A beautiful park to walk through. My first visit here and really enjoyed just walking round, I'd say it's hard to get lost as the paths are well signposted.
r. s.
Restaurant well worth a visit. Toasted sandwich was well prepared and cooked, as were the chips. Good variety of stock in the garden centre. Only issue was what we were looking at had no prices on them or not viewable if on a high shelf.
D. M.
Lovely morning for a walk along the river in the park
S. K.
Like shopping for garden plants and gardening staff. Nice restaurant and staff is helpful.
D. M.
Beautiful pond area, ideal for a wander with a small dog.
P. M.
I like coming here for a browse and the odd occasional purchase I find like alot of the garden centres /coffee shops they are more expensive than other places. The fact that I find some pretty things in here that I have not seen anywhere else makes me come back and the walk around the park is so relaxing
I. V.
Beautiful waterfalls, great for walks, fun family day out with kids, playarea and small lake for boats
J. M.
Quite simply the nicest park I've ever visited. Wonderfully smooth paths that the kids loved scooting on, beautiful landscaping with a great lake. Really large and varied outdoor play area. Adult exercise kit dotted about at good intervals too. Good parking around the park and at the dedicated parking sites. A must visit if you have kids.
s. k.
Our grandchildren had a great time there today. Nice well kept park. Caffe was nice. and happy with the facilities.
N. T.
Great park with a wonderful woodland walk
J. G.
Great friendly service. Food temperature could do with upping. Food arrived yesterday of a temperature that meant it had to be eaten quickly before it cooled. Burger served in a cold bun which didn't help, would have expected this to be warmed.
f. k.
Nice garden centre but garden furniture is cheaper online. Plants are good quality.
J. M.
Good selection of plants. Tea room food is delicious
A. I.
Nice place for family and going for a run but there are a lot (loads) of dog walkers. Some are good and have the dogs in control and pick up dog waste but others are not.
It would be great if the park had better lighting as it’s dark very early for most of the year(before 5pm).
Also need signs at outdoor exercise equipment to remind people it’s not for children to stand on as it makes the exercise machine not usable due to dirt.
Apart from that it’s nice and has. Garden centre with lots of variety and nice cafe, nice play park and a boat house cafe near the pond and waterfall area.
P. A.
It has very good collection of plants and it's variety. The area inside of garden center is very big, good collection of garden artifacts. Staff is very polite, helpful and pretty decent knowledgeable. Always keen to speak to shoppers. Despite every thing is good but only one concern is about the price. Slightly expensive. I think they must bring few deals to let the customer footfall inside. Just a suggestion only though.
S.
Good place and well stocked. The Lady in the garden section is second to none for gardening advice.
H. T.
I live in Hamilton closer to Clyde Side nurseries, they don't compare to the Glen.
R. C.
Best park to loose yourself away from hustle n bustle of the city
J. M.
Best play area by far! This play park is great for all ages of children. The soft foam ground is fantastic, there are many different pieces of equipment for the kids from huge climbing rope ladders to basket swings and in built ground trampolines. Also not forgetting the 2 zip slides just outside the gated part of the park.
G. G.
Excellent park to walk the dogs with a big lake and a stream that the dogs can paddle about in. Stay away from the bottom area through as its very mucky.
C. C.
Great choice of plants. Friendly staff. Good Coffee Shop.
S. A.
Rouken Glen Park is very beautiful Park , Recommend there's a pond there to with a swan and her babies just now !
B. D.
Good selection bit pricey would go again
D. B.
Great park, must visit if near the area. Waterfall and paths along the river are fantastic.
K. H.
Amazing walkways and the scenery is absolutely beautiful
L. L.
A great park, with plenty to do. Beautiful woodland walks, a great up to date playback, outdoor gym equipment and a visitor centre with toilet facilities. It's kept to a high standard, with plenty of parking and two cafes, one at either end of the park. There is also a newly restored walled garden, a lovely quiet area to sit. It's also easily accessible, with the motorway a two minute drive away, a train station at the top of the park and bus stops outside two of the main entrances. A really fantastic place to visit.
A.
Had lovely lunch with my niece 👍...really great garden centre huge selection of plants and other items and staff always nice😃
s. s.
Very scenic and a lovely walk. Very relaxing if you've had a bad day, if you have kids there's a play park and there is also a waterfall at one side of the park. There is a lake at the centre with a nice café next to it. There is also a skate park if you like skating. I would recommend this park to any age group or mums with children because it truly is a wonderful place!
S. K.
Easily the best local country park to go with friends and family. Great play area and so many other activities for kids. Lots of scenic walking paths. Great for dogs too. Must for fitness enthusiasts. Great for running and outdoor gym equipment installed at the park.
T.
A very well stocked garden centre. Quite a lot of peripherals i.e. things you might want in the kitchen as well. We were looking for cactus seed growing stuff, trays, compost, sand etc., and came away well satisfied.
J. L.
Great Christmas shopping experience. Small Pot of tea in Tea room three quarters full of hot water and tea bag on the side no cream for scone got 1small portion butter instead
Surprised there was no discount on ex display Christmas tree thats a first on any ex display gòods.
T. F.
Beautiful park and gardens well worth a walk around
L. O.
It's beautiful. Kid and dog friendly. Been going here for 45 year's
P. C.
very relaxing place, which cannot be explored in a day, or even a month.
The former boating lake is a haven for water birds, the adjacent restaurant serves plain and simple foods of large proportions. Children have a choice of several play areas. There are five aside pitches and a very good garden centre.
If you've never been there go as soon as possible.
L. R.
Brilliant park for all ages. Huge green grass areas for picnics or kicking a ball around etc. A large kids playground (which has recently been renewed and upgraded). The playground is suitable for kids of all ages.
There are also Basketball and Skateboard / Scooter area's close to the playground.
There are 2 sets of public toilets in the park, one next to the playground and the other next to the boating pond (behind the cafe).
The boating pond cafe is great and not expensive at all. It's recently been renovated and the staff are really friendly and helpful. It has a really nice relaxing atmosphere looking on to the pond.
g.
Not overpriced and lots of diffrent things for the garden.
L. C. n. A.
A park for all, lots of nooks and crannies. Many nice woodland walks, lovely pond with lots of wildlife, boathouse cafe you can sit in or out on a nice day with a take away window , all freshly made food. Waterfall, rivers, orchards, nature garden, walled garden, wonderful playground, pavilion with ever changing displays and exhibits, huge garden center and a football center as well as a veterinarian. This park is very dog friendly, very clean and we maintained.
M. C.
Great place for walks on a nice day, taking the 4 legged family members out or heading out to busy the kids at the numerous play park areas!
An outdoor table tennis table, tennis court and skate park provide ample things to do on the few dry days of summer.
A lovely cafe/coffee stop at the boathouse with outdoor seating should you take your dog(s) and enough pathways and walking routes to tire even the most energetic of children. Always busy with plenty of people, dogs and kids running around. Even on the rainy days!
F. D.
Great garden center, has plenty of different things to buy.
C. S.
Just like home! (I'm from the "Wet" Coast of BC, Canada.) Very pretty and green.
K. A.
Lovely place many beautiful items on sale staff very helpful .
J. T.
Decent food but lacks staff and service confusing
N. S.
Lovely place to go on a Sunday afternoon.
L. H.
Good choice of plants, plant pots, gift section and Christmas section.
M. L.
Great Park, lots to do, play parks, walks, skate park, pond, river walk, waterfall, cafe shops, garden center. Lots of different parking all around the park depending where you want to be near. Great for dogs and disabled access through out, swing park has a wheelchair swing. They do lots of events so can be really busy.
P. T. (.
It's very well kept. Good car parking provision. Excellent children's play area. Garden centre on periphery gives a wet weather option. The pond area and it's café are generally pretty busy but the park is large enough for quiet woodland walks. Paths are pretty good underfoot and most are suitable for walking with a baby buggie.
A. M.
Loves this park....great for children.
Walking the dogs nice restaurant & takeaway.
j. j.
Still one of the best local parks to see and have fun no matter your age. A place that does not require you to bring children. Many people enjoy the vastness of walking areas to relax or indeed jog. Exercise equipment dotted around too for all to use, no previous experience required. Plenty to do for the kids of all ages, bikes and scooters not a problem. A great skate park is provided too, all abilities are catered for. Plenty of benches to rest up on, watch the wildlife around the duck pond or just enjoy your surroundings. An ice cream hut is there to quench your thirst whilst taking a walk as well as the cafe for a bite to eat and a cuppa.
J. S.
Large open clean spaces with lovely trails for walks

We took young grandchildren (3 & 5 years old). They loved the swing park with all that is in there. There was also bouncy slides and rides, including pony rides. They had ice creams and enjoyed playing in the grassy areas and walking round the pond. Seeing the swans and ducks and some remote controlled boats. We finished up at the garden centre and the coffee shop. A great day, the only flaw being that someone hadn't picked up their dog poo and our wee grandson ended up with it all over his sandal and foot :-(.
C. E.
Great for a nice long walk, plenty places to stop along the route when you get tired. Lots of space to run around and very dog friendly. Garden centre is lovely and big and the staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely visiting again.
C. O.
Food places, great parking, good transport links but the best part is the walking paths, from the front it seems like a regular park with grassy fields however when you go into the trails you very quickly forget your within a few miles of a major city, some mini river rapids and a small waterfall which is fantastic to view. always a favourite.
R. H.
Wonderful experience. Really lovely park and waterfall
L.
Great park with mixture of ducks and swans, Little cafe and lovely gardens. It's well taken care of. Sadly some dog owners don't show it much respect and leave dog waste around so watch out for that. But otherwise a lovely day out.
J. D.
Brilliant park, interesting walks. A walled garden a wildlife Garden. Cafe which sells delicious ice-cream. A boating pond (no boats the day I visited so not sure if there's actually boating on the water).
Plenty open spaces for a picnic. Great playground and skate park.
R. M.
Love this place great at Christmas and for eating
R.
Beautiful Massive park, walk ya dugs, eat ice cream watch your children play on the top notch adventure play area, play tennis skate/scooter park , and enjoy lots and lots of fresh air and walks. It's the best way to burn off a few calories so you can order that takeaway and have a few beers after the visit* completely guilt free.
t.
Great biking area for kids all ages
S. M.
Great Park for a family walk. Especially if you have kids, it has the best kids play parks I have seen which caters for different age groups. Nice duck pond and lots of woodland for a variety of walks.
K. R.
Great Park, Noticed today that there r not very many bins around, so make sure u take a spare plastic bag for your rubbish. New play park that's been completed is great for kids and adults and noticed a swing for kids in wheel chairs.
S. S.
Beautiful big and versatile park
S. k.
It's lovely place to spend a day
D. H.
Nice relaxing walk ..not to busy and great play park for kids
I. C.
Gorgeous park in a very nice area. The park also has its own garden center for any budding (or not so budding) gardeners.
We take the dog here on occasion (we seem to take the dog everywhere!!) and its a big place to walk round.
E. E.
Plenty of parking. Layout inside was a bit strange. Limited gift selection in the stationery aisle.. The cafe was dead even though it was lunchtime. Huge selection of pet products. I asked the girl at the checkout where to leave my trolley and that question threw her completely (?) And, annoyed that when I got home, the £41 pot I bought smashed into small pieces the moment I got it home. I dropped it 4inches onto carpet (?) So I'm dubious about the quality of it... I'd come back for the pet aisle but that's it..
N. M.
Nice park with good play area for younger children. Cafe and toilets within the garden centre at main entrance where there is a fairly large parking area. Another cafe at the top of the park beside a large pond.
It's quite a large park, with lots of areas to picnic and benches beside the playground.
J. H.
Great place for a walk and play with children
K. K.
This is a fantastic park, there is a swing park for the kids with plenty equipment to keep them happy. The swing park is enclosed, there is specialist equipment for kids with additional needs there is also some sensory equipment. On high season bouncy castle, slides and rides are beside the park. There is a pond, lovely walks, most of the park is accessible for prams, wheelchairs, bikes
etc. There is an information centre with toilet facilities just up from the swing park. There is a skateboard park, picnic tables. Parking can be an issue as the car park is also used by the Garden Centre and gets really busy, parking is free with no time restrictions. There are 2 entrances for cars to access the park.
D. G.
Lovely for walking if you don't trip over dog leads or even worse dogs. Gets busy with people walking both ways especially with prams, junior bikes etc. Ice cream available (for breakfast!?) . Watch out for those really busy days when you have to park on grass. Take your small car: save the big one for motorways. GREAT garden centre nearby but don't take your credit card.
P. H.
A classic Victorian/Edwardian park. Full of families and dog walkers as well as casual strollers. Superbly well maintained and with a variety of landscapes that change with the seasons. Always pleasant for a Sunday walk.
N. C.
Very good place to get out and about it has a very nice trail that you can walk through the woods which leads you to the water fall and the pond were you can get some food. There is also a garden centre and playground for children and a skatepark for the adventurous people. The place is great for a day out. Would highly recommend visiting.
E. L.
Amazing park to let off steam and relax
B.
I love this park, we only recently went here as we have lots of other parks closer to us but this is well worth travelling a bit further. I had no idea how big it was and all of the amazing areas within. We had a lovely walk one summer evening and I loved the waterfall and woodland as well as the big pond with friendly (although I'm always dubious of them) swans. Parking was easy and I'm looking forward to exploring more this summer.
G. O.
Absolutely love this place, woodland walks are the best!
M.
A great park with a stunning blend of scenery. Waterfalls, flat grassland, a fair sized pond, staircases under tree canopay and lovely streams. Boathouse cafe serves good food with amazing service and choice!
S. S.
This is a treasure trove of a place! Lovely flowers, plants etc. Also gorgeous gifts, books etc. Xmas displays are on full view, beautiful, child magnet! There's a great cafe with good food and plenty of space for prams and disabled people. In the middle of Rouken Glen Park, makes a great day out. Recommended.
H. A.
Scenic Park with nice walking trails for short walks
B. B.
Beautifuly kept park and gardens. With lots to see and do, two coffee shops, one at the garden centre and the other at the pond. Lots to explore over at the waterfall also....a fun day out with the family or brisk walk on your own with the dog..
C. G.
Lovely Restaurant and good shopping.
C. L.
Great for a nice walk or even a run through the trees. Children's play area is well maintained and safe, and there's plenty for them to see at the duck pond too. Cafes are great.
A. M.
Brilliant beautiful park.
M. D.
Yesterday this was voted the Best Park in the UK. Thoroughly deserved! You can see every breed of dog being paraded there any day of the week. The Boathouse does decent coffee to take away on your stroll round the duck pond and it is fine for sitting in, but usually very busy. You can buy bags of seed there to feed the ducks. The kids' playground is extremely well equipped and very popular, as is the skateboard park, the basketball court and the extensive array of outdoor gym equipment! If you just want to get away from the thronging hordes, there are several lovely pathways through the Glen, past the waterfall and over quaint little bridges.
S. B.
Great family park. Lots for everyone to do with a big play area for the kids or lovely long woodland walks for the dogs. Great cafe onsite selling coffees and food where dogs can be left outside within view.
J. C.
Cafe shut a little early which was a little upsetting but apart from that this is a lovely garden centre.
M. G.
Fabulous park with great Glen walks and beautiful waterfalls. Has a duck pond with a lovely restaurant right beside at one end and at the other end a very large car park with a garden centre and cafe and a brilliant kids play park just up from it.
K. R.
The new park is so much fun for kids of all ages it has also put swings in for kids with disabilities there's something for for everyone in the park to do, it's also a lovely park to go walking in and if ur a fitness freak then u have the fitness equipment to use. Since its refurbishment it's always busy, the only thing is it's not got any rules in place while we r going thru this cov19 pandemic, no social distancing or masks. If signs were in place for this then maybe ppl wld follow. After the kids r touching everything so germs r everywhere. I'd recommend ppl take theyr own sanitiser and masks to keep their selves and kids safe
S. M.
Great for taking the dog round and if you park beside the vets, there is a hose and tap for cleaning off all the muck of a muddy day.
Huge play park for the kids, which always seems to be getting well used.
M. M.
There are so many places to go and if you have kids it is even better due to play parks and other attractions including pony riding. Otherwise, there are the Glen walks which are suitable for people of any age.
D. W.
Great park for the kids. Lots to do and see
G. W.
I'd forgotten how lovely this place is when I visited it while back in Glasgow last week. It's immaculately maintained and the various sections are extensive. Beyond the main park there's so much to see in the meadow/Brae section as well as the waterfalls and walled garden. What a delight to have on your doorstep and I am sure the residents of Eastwood, Whitecraigs, Deaconsbank really appreciate it. Handy too that there is an on-site garden centre and I recall visiting the place each Christmas as they did an excellent Christmas display for the kids.
H. M.
Nice park and garden centre. Very busy .
A. F.
Extensive park. Walking, skateboard park, tennis courts, table tennis and basketball areas.
Kid's play area ... very busy at holidays and weekends.
Cafe, restaurant and garden centre in grounds.
River walks and loch with swans and ducks.
Great place for all ages.
M. R.
Rightly award winning park it has a cafe duck pond, great childrens play areas, lovely open grassy areas that are well kept, Wilder areas if that isn't enough there is the Glen aspect including waterfall and did I mention the cafe for coffee....parking is free
R. H.
Nice park, although a bit boggy when we last visited - following some heavy rain. Boat pond is very nice, as is the boat house. Great kids playground.
K. A.
Nice Park, very good kids climbing frame and nice green walks. Also a waterfall and a duck pond. Garden centre is okay usual seasonal items, cafe is okay if a little pricey.
S. P.
The pond area is just so beautiful just now with all sorts of shrubs and flowering bushes. Mother ducks and fledglings so cute and bonny. Tiny frogs in the muddy edges of the pond amid beautiful flowering yellow Irises,! The. Boat House has a very varied menu including all day breakfast and delicious ice cream,! Next Saturday and also on the 30th June the pond will be very busy with enthusiastic model boat builders .....lovely day out.
G. R.
An excellent park for young children. A lot of green space for dog walkers. There is a nice café opposite the duck pond. Cyclists can use a dedicated path to explore the space.
J. M. R.
Beautiful park with everything from a playpark to a glen river walk and from a walled garden to an impressive waterfall. But if you want value for money on an ice cream forgo the van and head to the cafe at the Boating Pond!
L. S.
Such a beautiful park, it has something for everyone - the woodland walks and waterfall, the pond and cafe, the playpark and pavilion, new tennis court, skatepark, table tennis. Lots of open spaces too with beautifully landscaped areas.

J. A.
I found the park a great place for my dog to run around safely away from the road. I went to the garden centre coffee shop and had a coffee and lovely apple and caramel tart. Will be a regular visitor.
e. m.
Excellent day out with the family, bouncy castles and children's play park with excellent facilities. Row boats, waterfalls, adventure play parks and ice cream. Highly recommend it as my daughter loved it.
S. B.
A great park with skate part, tennis and local golf course. The waterfall is also in full flow.
Its a great park to pick up a coffee and just chill. Visit the Boathouse for a great cup of coffee.
I. E.
Great playpark which is always clean. Forest and Riverside walks. Big pond. Great ice-cream. Most eclectic range of dogs and walkers alike that Glasgow has to offer.
T.
Large areas of open grass parkland, playpark for kids, small wildlife garden larger formal walled garden, woodland walks and boating pond to walk round.
Plenty of benches, nice and clean. Free unless buying refreshments or inflatables near playpark.
Garden Centre with Cafe also on edge of park
N. R.
The best Play area in Glasgow. Best Park for kids. Lots of grassy area for lovely picnics. Well maintained. Not too busy. Toilet facilities. I've cream stand.

Love garden centres even though they can be a bit pricey.....Prices in the Restaurant however were pretty reasonable, and all staff very friendly. Definately worth a visit.....
A. M.
Nice coffee and cake on at Saturday afternoon
A. “. S.
Brilliant play park. Took my toddler and he loved it, especially when you add in the excitement of seeing ducks and swans at the pond. Best in the city I think. Certainly East Dunbartonshire Council could learn a few lessons.
J. T.
Very big park with lots of space for the kids, public toilets, snack vans, a waterfall and walkways. The play park was busy but a fair size. Great day out for the kids.
F. G.
Great park with a variety of facilities. A little unclear on how to get to the main parking area and finding our way around the park/back to where we had parked. I didn’t see any toilet facilities during my trip there (not to say there aren’t any, but not easily spotted perhaps!)
N.
Fantastic trails all over the park for walking and cycling. The waterfall and pond are wonderfull. Park area has tennis courts, a playground for children and some ramps for BMX and scooter riders.
k. m.
A lovely park with ample parking. When following the signs for the waterfall theres a tiny stream... dont be fooled you need to climb about 100 steps then you'll see the huge one
J. M.
Lovely park! Features plenty of walking paths, several of them beside a river, a beautiful waterfall, a large pond and a kids playground. One of the best parks in glasgow for sure

This park is great as it has a lot of different areas ( woodland trails, a river, open grass, formal(ish) gardens) which means you can pick a route to your liking/ to suit the weather. Will be going back with my doggies.
w.
Great fun for all the family, lots to see and do and easy to spend the full day here. Word of advice, we visited in September and had to leave early due to swarms of wasps. Be careful if you have little ones with you.
t. s.
Lovely place with lots going on.
C. S.
Best Park for kids in the area. Kids aged 2-9 will have a ball. Good open area for Frisbee and football. Short Cycle paths and a skateboard area with ramps. A large Park with good paths for a walk.
I. M.
Rouken Glen is a beautiful park with plenty of amenities.
This weekend it added another trick with the inaugural Playground Festival. I was there on the Sunday by which time the early teething problems were evidently sorted, and had a fantastic time.
C. F.
Busy, happy children and chilled parents/carers. Plenty to do and see.
K. S.
Good open park for letting the dog off the lead for a run, extensive parkland for a longer walk. Nice garden centre though not dog friendly hence only 4 stars

E. W.
Brilliant park, Big area, not overly busy, lovely restraunt and ice cream window, brill play area, we went on a really sunny day and it was great. Good areas for a game of footie. Xoxo
A. M.
Gorgeous park ruined only by the unfriendliness to dogs at the boaters cafe, outdoor area chained up meaning we can't sit outside and keep an eye on our dogs who have to be tied up at pond or on wall round outdoor area, it is a dog walkers park and no allowances made at all, spoils our walks
M. F.
Huge range of stock not just plants. Lovely large cafe
K. C.

A. M.
Excellent playpark for children. I did not visit other areas of the park but I have been told that there are great walking trails and a waterfall that is picturesque
C. D. M.
Love this park fond memories of the boating lake when I was a kid back in 1970's ish :P when we used to live in Thornliebank it was the local park but it's worth travelling to as there are plenty of parks in Ayrshire but Rouken Glen is still one of my favourite parks with plenty to do with the kids especially if they are a mixture of ages from toddlers to teens. There is something for everyone!
The boating lake's still there which is now a duck pond, and we always take along some bread to feed the ducks, the ice-cream parlour and cafe/restaurant are located here also so very handy for hungry and thirsty kids.
The play park has recently been renewed (shame to see the curly slide has gone!) But it has plenty of walks through woodland paths and past the waterfall.
A great day out for the whole family we'd highly recommend it! :)
i. s.
Great place to go with the family.
M. G.
The skate park was amazing but would recommend if you put up a picture only use for real scooters and bmx or skateboards cause right now its just a bunch of 5yrs olds running around
l. K.
Been coming here for years. Nice for a stroll around. Great for kids as there's plenty to do. Wish the cafe at the pond was open bit later during summer months tho.
T. H.
Lovely country park, ideal for a walk. Small cafe is also there. Limited on street parking or larger car park within the Garden centre. Also play area for children.
S. P.
A brilliant place for anyone to go. there's always things on here and the children will not be bored. The play park is up to date and offers plenty for the kids. Probably why this place is always so busy.
s. g.
Beautiful park..... How ever do not take your missis for a walk around it..... Because if it's muddy and you've never been before and don't know your way round you'll be in for it 😏😏😏
n. n.
Do your Christmas shopping in summer here.
S. M.
Absolutely delighted to have this park nearby, always a joy to visit, especially the play area, although the zip slide might be in need of repair as doesn't have enough momentum to return even half way to the platform, otherwise can not fault the park at all
Big shout out to the staff guy in the Pavilion on Saturday 29th June for providing park maps to the little girls visiting from Singapore, a nice free souvenir to take home
P.

A. R.
Garden Centre is closed at the moment, but they are serving sandwiches and coffee at the main door also a selection of potting plants .well done.
H. B.
Rouken Glen has existed for about 200 years in one form or another. The park has designated wondeful, exciting play areas for children, full of rides, climbing frames, roundabouts and many more fascinating experiences for kids.
There is so much more for everyone, walks for adults through the Glen or circuits of the pond ending up at the boathouse restaurant/bistro for coffee or a meal or a stroll to the Garden Centre, it's an Aladin's cave, it has everything for the garden and enormous gift departments, there is also plenty of parking.
