Reviews of N1 Garden Centre
H. B.
Beautiful array of plants and cacti on display, including some lovely philodendrons that I wish I had the money to purchase! Staff are very friendly and willing to lend a hand, we arrived 10 minutes before closing and they refused to rush us even though we were browsing a few minutes after their closing time.
Couldn't recommend more!
M. M.
An amazing selection of plants, I could stay there all day to be honest. The only downside is that they are very pricey, but I still left with a bunch of new babies. The staff were very friendly and left us to explore!
I would definitely go back there!
J. Y.
Large selection of plants, pots and equipment. Found exactly what I needed with help from the extremely accommodating and friendly staff.
Update on my purchase, plant thriving in my fishtank, it feeds of the waste and uses it to grow no need for soil.
A. D.
A really lovely almost hidden garden center in N1. Great selection of interesting indoor and outdoor plants over a range of prices. Saw lots of different plants that I've never seen before, looking forward to going again. 🌿🌱
A. M.
One of the best indoor plant displays anywhere. Quality and reasonable prices. Excellent plants.
J. L. H.
I've spent a small fortune at this place over the last 15 years as a local plantaholic, both on the garden and house plants (pictured). It may not be the cheapest but it's been worth every penny for the quality of plants and the gorgeous on-trend accessories. But most of all for the warm welcome and expert advice from the staff - knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, even when I show up just before closing waving a discount card. A big shout out for Russ, Jelena, Lily, Saul, Neil, Alice, Andi and Mariana. They even have a garden award winner, the lovely Fay, in their midst. Sorry to any of the team I’ve missed - your help over the years has really been appreciated. For house plants and attendant interior goodies Paul is the man, curating London's best selection (I've frequented just about every garden centre across town) and offering invaluable tips. N1 is a real asset to the community. Keep up the good work lovelies.
A. U.
Nice oasis in the middle of a grim part of N1. Bigger than it looks from the outside and a good selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Not cheap, mind.
M. R.
Always come here to get my new Christmas decorations, they put on a super display each year. Very nice.
C. P.
Nice selection and pretty interior but super super expensive. I bought a Hawaiian palm from somewhere else for £11. Slightly smaller specimen and they wanted to charge £22. Was genuinely shocked at the prices and left. Good if you don't know the going rate.
T. L.
Been here a few times. Each visit has been great as it's always interesting to see what new stock they bring in, as they usually get the latest plants first around London. The pricing seems a bit confusing though, some indoor plants seem to be competitively priced like its the price you would expect other places to be asking for but on the other hand, some prices seem way way off compared to elsewhere which is puzzling...so I do shop around depending on what plant I am after. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
C. N.
First time here. Good range of indoor and outdoor plants. Prices reasonable. Unfortunately didn't have what I might have been looking for. Staff allow you time to browse.
M. B.
Beautiful place but Prices are completely not justified.
I.
Nice garden centre for central London but the service/staff are terribly slow and infuriating. They operate at a different (slow) pace. Beautiful things on sale.
S. B.
The plant selection is fantastic and the staff are great but the prices for plants seemed very high. Perhaps due to its location? The compost was reasonable though so not everything is super expensive. I just wouldn’t buy plants from here.
G. M. S.
Nice selection of houseplants! Prices are a bit steep but this is London I guess.
M. C.
Really awesome place, plants are everywhere. You want to feel like you're walking through a indoor jungle, that is a good place. Pleseant and friendly staff. They even do deliveries, just double check with them.
m. m.
Such a great little - but well stocked garden centre. There is something for everyone, from exotic houseplants to shrubs and bedding plants.
There is also a fantastic selection of pots and planters to suit every plant and budget.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
E. I.
Good selection of plants and pots indoor and outdoor. I spent ages trying to find a small pot for my nerve plants, but couldn't find one or a saucer. They only had two sized saucers in plastic. I would go again for sure as they know about each plant and how to care for them. Every plant looks healthy and they have a good selection.
M. M.
Lovely staff and a huge selection of plants (that you probably won't find anywhere else).
A.
It looks expensive but all the plants ( a lot ) I bought there are strong and healthy. You can find a nice assortment of seasonal outdoor plants there and a big variety of indoor plants ( from the smallest to the biggest ones). It's also nice just to have a look and see a lot of green life around !
M.
Love it there, I am going back next week. The plants were fresh and green none had dead leaves. You felt free no one walk behind you watching you. The cashier was very pleasant.
J.
Be ready to queue for this place during Covid-19 rules, but a nice little shop with nice plant selection, half indoor half out. Reasonably priced for the most part. Staff were especially polite and friendly.
I.
Great collection of plants and pots, some plants are rare and cannot be find in any other store in London. Staff are knowledgeable and polite. Definitely, it is a must to visit shop !
P. S.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, they also have a very good selection of plants and I would definitely buy more plants from N1 Garden Centre and I am very happy with my plants with a big THANK YOU
L. M.
Staff are really helpful and there is a good selection of indoor and outdoor plants
N. S.
Great independant garden centre with a huge selection of indoor plants. This is the place to visit if you are looking for something a bit more exciting than your local garden centre can provide. Any houseplant enthusiast will find something here they just have to take home.
A. B.
Very knowledgeble staff and helped me with everything I needed great service
N. J.
Great selection, staff are friendly and parking outside is free over the weekend.
m. g.
Worth a visit. Very inspirational.
E. M.
It's pretty pricy for plants but good for pots and soil! The staff pretty much let you get on with your shop unless you ask.
A. O.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. Was there, buying a Christmas tree with kids and staff were very engaging. Prices are daily good too but as I don't have a burden I can't make as much use of the plants as I'd like, sadly.
P. B. (.
Amazing place the inside bit at the back is like a little hidden grotto. Great selection of indoor and outdoor plants and associated paraphernalia.
s. k.
Wonderful staff and great selection of plants. But the prices are more than 2 times of what you can get at Columbia flower market. I agree with some of the other reviews it's good for people for whom money grows on plants (literally!) also cost of delivery to my place which is 1.5 miles was £20!
E. C.
Terrific plants but the pricing is, frankly... outrageous.
I don't mind paying a little extra as it's central London but £20 for a tiny ivy plant ... We are talking prices up to 4-5x the usual for the same plants elsewhere.
They do have an incredible selection, if money isn't an object then I highly recommend it but for what your getting I think they have priced things a little high
B. S.
Really lovely urban garden centre with a large variety of indoor and outdoor plants. Staff are knowledgeable and the quality is on the higher side, with consequently higher prices.
Good for a whim, convenience or even a date. It probably not the most sensible to shop for a large garden replanting session.
T. C.
Love this local garden centre. Staff are knowledgeable, there's a great selection of plants and stylish pots - everything you need. It loses a star for being pretty pricey considering you can buy the same plants elsewhere for much less.
A. K. (.
I travelled from Essex to see the place. I wasn't disappointed. I was welcomed and inspired at the same time. They have a selection of hard to get plants which is the reason I went there. The supervisor was very knowledgeable in his plants and approachable. Its nice to share the passion of plants. 1st time visit and won't be the last. Best Urban jungle garden centre in London by far! Thank you.
V. P.
Love this place and have been a happy customer for years. Bit pricey, but the plants are brought on really well so i’d expect to pay a bit more. I’d come here for the gorgeous plant displays alone, quite frankly - but it’s the lovely, knowledgeable (and very patient) staff that make it special when I visit.
T. D.
Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff (who sorted me out with a housewarming present in a bit of a spot) - thanks, team, I will be back.
T. M.
Came this morning and I got everything I wanted. Found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Incredible houseplant selection, which I did not expect. My first visit but I will be back.
E. S.
Slightly pricey. Four stars because of its lovely interiors and good variety. They mostly focus on houseplants and outdoors plants, small bonsai section. Wouldn't hurt for the staff to crack a smile once in a while.
R. D.
Like a jungle, it's got a good selection of indoor/outdoor plants. It's not very cheap but the plants are all well looked after and nicely presented.
J. N.
Got to agree with last reviewer - I do not understand why it is so expensive. I like the store but it does not have a huge range of plants and they are always considerably more expensive than my local garden centres in Camden even than Clifton Nurseries in Maida Vale.
D. R.
Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful staff with an amazing range of plants. We rushed into the centre with an urgent request to find palms for a photo shoot and Paul was generous and incredibly helpful in assisting us, both on the phone and in person. Would highly recommend the centre to anyone. The staff are clearly very passionate about what they do.
R. K.
The plants are beautiful. Jane the staff was very helpful and a lovely person.
I was some people comparing the price with the Colombian market. But guys there is no comparison with the quality of the product. And it’s worth it.
If they don’t have what you want, they can always order it for you. This is going to be my shopping venue for gardening.
Thanks for your help.
T. B.
We love this place but a lack of staff on the shop floor for advice is somewhat missing. Supermarkets or other retailers cope with a busier atmosphere. Maybe they’re losing some of the service by being over cautious. And this place is outside.
M. O.
The N1 Garden Centre is very useful and a rather important establishment in the area (for lack of options). Whatever time of year you go they always have an amazing range of options in stock. They're pricey - but what do you expect in De Beauvoir? In the past decade I've been coming here I've experienced nothing but surly, frosty, apathetic service, which always puts me off - yet I keep coming back. I suppose it's like a dismissive, cold parent - they may not treat you well but you know you need them more than they need you.
F. F.
A big high five to who runs this place and all the staff. It' s truly ispiring and probably one of the biggest plant selection you can find in London. The rarest plant are a little priced, but doesn t mean it's expensive. I spent 16 pound for 4 great baby house plants. Their stock looks of high quality and well cared for, they play classic music and the whole place feels like a little jungle!
staff is great, easy going and happy to help
well done guys
N. T.
Fabulously friendly and knowledgeable staff who went out of their way to be helpful. A good selection of stuff for such a small urban garden centre. Yes, pricier than some places, but I'm happy to pay extra for the convenience and service.
G.
Excellent store, I went here looking for some rare houseplants and one of their staff (Faye) went out of her way to order this for me and recommend plants suitable for my needs and how I should care for them. I couldn't commend her enough and the excellent range available inside the store has yet to be beaten by any Garden Centre in London.
R. B.
Pretty good selection of flowers, not so many herbs but looks like they had sold out rather than not stocked them. Helpful staff.
H. M.
This is the place to go for lovely plants and containers, both indoor and outdoor, as well as garden furniture, tools, bird feeders, fertilisers and insecticides. They also have a good range of gift wrap and greetings cards, so they're ideal for gift ideas, too. Plus the staff are lovely and really well informed about their products and about all things gardening-related, and they're happy to spend time discussing your garden problems. And on top of that, they support our local community association by regularly donating lovely raffle prizes and advertising local events. What's not to like?
F. o. A.
For years I've driven past North one garden centre on my way to Columbia Road flower market on a Sunday morning. Each time I wondered why there were people going to the garden centre when the market was just down the road. One day I decided to go in and see for myself. I haven't looked back. The staff are brilliantly helpful and knowledgable, the selection of plants available is the best (there were plants for sale that I'd been searching for for years) and the curated displays are inspiring. It offers indoor and outdoor plants and everything you need to keep them alive. I love it. Maxine
K. W.
Nice selection of plants, though store is a bit smaller than expected.
S. B.
The plants seemed quite expensive. Maybe all plants are? Im a novice. ...the staff are mega helpful, really friendly and know their stuff. Theres lots of selection inside and outside, it has a calming feel walking around the centre.
B. R.
Nice little garden centre. Just a little over crowded with plants indoors that can make it overwhelming and don't know where to look
S. N.
Dependable local nursery. They have loads of staff who are happy to answer questions if you ask, but equally are happy to leave you alone and get on with it! Good selection of terra cotta pots. Decent selection of succulents and cacti. A bit pricey, but handy if you don't have a car and live locally.
B. C.
I had been after a Pilea for ages and after seeing one on their instagram posts I hopped over to their shop and snapped it up after they kindly reserved it for me. These guys are always so helpful and really know their stuff. The plants I have bought there have all thrived and it's great to finally have a place in London that I am able to find some of the rarer specimens. They have a wonderfully evolving collection of accessories too and put on a really fun event or two throughout the year.
E. T.
This is a beautiful garden centre, everything is so beautifully presented and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. I've been in with many questions and always come out with answers (and usually a new plant or 2). Great little shop!
E. A.
This cute little garden centre was a lovely place to visit on the weekend when I lived nearby. It's boutiquey and a bit more expensive, but it's a really nice place to be and has a wide variety of plants.
M. H.
Lovely centre, everything I needed to make my little herb patch, including advice and polite staff. Even helped with a very niche plant request.
t. G.
Epic plant selection and very helpful staff.
Prices are a bit on the higher end though
F. G.
Staff not very friendly bordering on Surly. Plants are pricey but good quality.
S. M.
I recently visited the N1 Garden Centre and, for a garden centre of its size, I was impressed by the array of plants and gardening products they had to offer. As a matter of fact, I found more of interest there than I might had I visited a GC twice its size.
All of the staff were exceptionally friendly, and when I asked for some gardening advise, it was clear that they were remarkably knowledgable too. I would have no hesitation in recommending this GC to anyone who appreciates quality, and outstanding customer service.
I only have one word of caution and this would be that quality doesn't come cheap, and cheap isn't a word that could be applied to the N1 Garden Centre. Notwithstanding the high prices I shall be returning to the N1 Garden Centre, and I'm looking forward to it.
V. S.
Had a fantastic experience - absolutely loved the place, plants and people - Mariana (hope I got the spelling right) did such a wonderful job with repotting my plants - super happy with it all. Thanks Guys!
C. D. G.
Really enjoy this place with their selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Also great for any gardening tool, accessories and suggestions. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
d. R.
I went there one saturday morning. There were loads of choices of plants be it indoor or outdoor. All of the staff were terrific and helpful and showed me around. One thing i could complaint of is that most of the prices instore were out of my buying power.but none the less i went home with a handful of happy and healthy plants👍🏻😘💚
J. Z.
Fantastic customer service and good range of plants 👌 Must visit if you like to buy plants.
D. V.
Great selection of plants & accessories but overpriced (I remember spending 50 quid for a basket). Customer service could be a lot better.
D. B.
I love this garden centre. I only have a balcony and have to stop my self buying too much. It has a marvellous selection of indoor and outdoor plants and is just a nice space.
C. H.
An absolute treasure trove of gardening delights. For someone who knows nothing about gardens, visiting N1 was like stepping into aladdin's cave. The staff were helpful and the pots and plants delightful. The only difficulty is making sure if you bike you can get it all home in one trip!
S. I. M.
I love this when I want to feel fancy but it is a little expensive compared to borough market which is 20 minutes away. But the customer service is great and the plants are all super trendy and gorgeous
G. D.
Excellent . All the plants are of very good quality. The staff are helpful and friendly. Its a bit expensive but a real local asset to our our area.
N. B.
Lovely selection of plants. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always a pleasure to visit!
F. M.
It's a joy to visit N1 Garden Centre. For a small space, they have a good selection of indoor and outdoor plants. You can ask them to get plants in for you too.
We are proud owners of a ficus robusta, grasses, lavenders, all sorts of heucheras and a variety of air plants.
I know N1 used to get a bad rap for its staff who were notoriously rude. It's worlds away from that. Staff are so helpful and the manager always hello.
Tip: There is a lady with long jet black hair who is a walking encyclopaedia for plant care. Seek her out for any advice!
R. G.
Good variety of plants but no water features or other garden feature items. A little on the expensive side. Nice to browse.
R. V.
Such a good spot to buy plants!!!
R. G.
Great selection ..not bad prices...but prepare yourself for queue over weekend...
A. D.
It's a sweet little nursery, but a little overpriced compared to other independent nursery's that I've been to, most the pots don't seem to have drainage, which in my opinion is a problem otherwise they have most tools you would need, and fair range of plants, compost etc.
V. P.
Really nice staff. They reduced the amount of people who could enter, so it didn't get crowded.
M. C.
Beautiful selection of indoor and outdoor plants to recreate your home jungle 🤔 or would they just let me move into the shop
M. J.
It is a gem, good soil, beautiful indoor and outdoor plants. Definitely an address to visit if you place needs some greenery. Also the staff was very helpful.

A. D.
Cool little garden centre. COVID queueing implemented for ease of browsing. A little on the expensive side but only to be expected with its location.

Beautiful! The speciality and rare plants can be pricey but you wont get these plants anywhere else in London.

Nice little garden centre in de Beauvoir area. Has all the things you need for indoor/outdoor gardening. It's a little expensive, but it's an independent garden centre in the middle of hackney, so I'm not surprised. Would recommend checking their website before visiting if you need something in particular.
