Reviews of Ribblesdale Garden Centre & Nurseries

Visited today and really impressed. All plants look really healthy and a great selection. Nice gift shop with good quality and really well priced stock. Staff have a wealth of experience so got the advice I was looking for. They are not just trying to push sales but telling you when to buy and when is best to plant particular plants, trees etc. Would definitely recommend.

Forget your generic garden centres and check out your local nurseries!
Ribblesdale is a fair size nursery with decorative stones/bark/compost to the front near the car park.
You walk through the quaint gift shop/garden accessories to the indoor plant section, which also has tubs, planters, garden features placed around. A quick look at some of the outdoor planters and I could see they were a fair price, along the lines of bigger garden centres.
On to the outdoors and you have a lovely selection of plants in the shaded section to the right as you come out.
Next to this you have the greenhouses for flowers, border plants, hanging baskets etc..
When we went they didn't have a massive amount in terms of bedding flowers as many of them were still in the growing greenhouse at the bottom but I still picked up marigolds, geraniums and verbenas for my beds.
They did have some beautiful hanging baskets ready to go, all different shapes and sizes.
The fruit trees and small trees came after the greenhouse, again these are well cared for.
After this there is a good selection of plants and shrubs on the lower section with plenty to look through.
What they lack in mass produced flowers, plants, shrubs or trees they make up for in good quality, well cared for plants that are thriving, rather than half dead!
Everything plant wise we bought on the day was well rooted and fair priced.
My plants have already shot up and have multiple flowers growing from them.
For me that's much better than the false economy of buying cheaper and having a game or roulette with which will survive!
The chap running the place was very helpful and let us know info about the plants, recommended extra items for them if needed.
No hesitation in going back, well worth a trip out to see.

What a fantastic garden centre! It has a great selection of both indoor and outdoor plants, a gift and card shop area , a bargain corner , a lovely relaxing water area, a sleepy resident cat (Coco) and friendly dog (Kim)! The staff were very helpful and accommodating, our items were gift wrapped for free and to my surprise my 2 children were given a free gift which was such a lovely gesture. All in all a fabulous little find! We will certainly be visiting again soon!

I love this nursery. It’s my favourite venue for all my gardening essentials. I buy my hanging basket and bedding plants every year. I ordered a flower trough (made by James) for my front garden and it gets admired by all my visitors. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Thank you James

I have bought my bedding plants from Ribblesdale in the past but this years are a totally different quality - they have bloomed in just 2 and a half weeks. The staff were very helpful, the shop has some beautiful items, the whole place is soo much better cared for and James was telling us all about his plans going forward. Fantastic nursery - heading back again this week for some plants for my mums garden! :)
Added some photos to show the plants when first planted and what they look like now

Lovely small garden centre. Staff very helpful. Excellent quality plants. Was given an unexpected discount because I had spent quite a bit. Would definitely recommend them.

My husband just came back from R. Nursery and they were most helpful, gave good advice and went out of their way to help. Products, of course are excellent. Supporting our local businesses. ✨👌👍

Fantastic place for everything gardening! The shop part is like an Aladdin's Cave. Through the shop and out to the the plants, which are all very well cared for, and a good selection, at very reasonable prices. I bought a beautiful Polemonium Golden Feathers, which would no doubt, have cost me 2 or 3 times the price at larger 'Garden Centres'. The young couple, who were running the place were very friendly and helpful. I bought all I had gone for, plus more. With this place being so close to where I live, I will definitely be going back again.

Nice family run plant nursery. Had a very friendly gentleman who assisted with choosing the right flowers and bedding plants for the time of year. Even helped us with the compost and brought it over to the car boot. I’ve got some lovely gift ideas and stone ornaments gardening tools everything you expect to need for a nice huge garden centre by the lovely family run level. There’s even an wildlife hide at the back you can sit in and see what you can spot. Great for the kids too!

Bought 4 trees for our church garden
( Our Lady + St Edwards, Fulwood PR2 9UE) to replace 4 Cypress trees whose roots were potentially damaging the church building foundations.
I dealt with James who could not be more helpful. The service, advice and tress were outstanding. Have recommended to friends and family without reservation. Francis J McGrath xxx

This is my go to place for any little gifts I need or good quality plants. Good customer service and very helpful and I will be back soon to buy my bedding plants.

Brilliant place. Lovely fresh flowers and artificial flowers.
Lovely young man willing to advise and help with your purchases. I had no clue what to buy but came out with some beautiful flowers for my pots. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent place. Good quality plants and an owner who is obviously pleased to have your business and is a source of advice and help. Try getting that at B and Q 😀 The last time I asked someone about plants at B and Q they told me there is a worldwide shortage because of covid and Brexit and a ship stuck in the Suez Canal. I think he was about 16 and had just finished his paper round. Now the garden centre manager 😀
C. S.
Good plants at a decent price well worth a visit. They potted well at home and look healthy

It was very quiet when we visited (a Sunday lunchtime). It's delightful the nursery is coming back to life under new ownership. Friendly and helpful staff were on hand, and we were able to find everything we needed quickly and easily. Thank you!

Recently moved to the area and discovered this garden centre not far from where I live in Higher Bartle!
What a little gem it is too and the staff were so helpful and informative on plants I was looking to buy.
The bonus was the fantastic scarecrow sat outside the front, so my visitors from London were excited to check out how many we could find in the village. :-)
Will be returning for more compost and and plants!
J. P.
Quite a large selection of plants! I just went a bit to early in the planting season to buy anything! Would stop off here again in the summer as the plant selection looked quite good. It's not the largest place in the area but seemed like a good, well run business. Would visit again!
R. T.
Great to see this place flourishing! Lots is being done to improve the layout and amenities. Enjoyed my picnic at the new tables.
J. G.
visited this little gem for the first time a few weekends ago! i got some lovely plants that i have not seen elsewhere. plants very reasonably priced compared to the larger garden centres and good healthy decent sized plants to! staff very helpful as well! what more could you want!!
J. T.
Brilliant nursery to visit, great for would be or experienced green fingers. Tucked a little way off the A6, and well worth a repeat visit. Lovely to walk round this well stocked garden centre for bulbs, seeds, potted seasonal planting, perennials, alpines and wide variety of fruiting or ornamental shrubs and trees. You will always find something different, as well as the essentials for plant care. Friendly, informative staff, yet not intrusive. Competitively priced in comparison to the more expensive garden centres. Even has a hide for birdwatchers! Recommend you ring ahead to check re wheelchair access. Free parking. Can recommend without hesitation.
J. F.
Great support with finding the right plants for my garden. Thanks
H. H.
Good range of pretty much everything you need for your garden, with friendly and helpful staff.
S. E.
Fantastic place! There is so much choice. The plants are really good quality at excellent prices. It was a pity I've already got most of my plants when I've heard about this place. I still got a few plants because they looked so good but next year I will definitely buy all I need from here. Big choice, good prices and very friendly and helpful staff. What else can you ask for?!
A. R.
Excellent choice of plants, at great prices. The owners and staff are always on hand to help and advise. Everything is grown organically, wildlife friendly. The Nursery also includes a bird watching hide and a model railway. The Acer house is unbelievable, we have never seen such a wide range. Recommend this place for price and quality.

Lovely little plant nursery with a wide range of plants. Very helpful, knowledgeable owner and staff. Obviously suffering from effects of Brexit, in obtaining plants. Hopefully much wider range in future, in spite of Brexit.
K. R.
Lovely garden centre. Had been a little run down in the past but everything looks cared for now. I think they are new owners. They should advertise as i dont think many people are aware.
P.
Hidden away just on the outskirts of Preston. This is a lovely little nursery which has everything you need. Bigger than you expect, everything is laid out well and in alphabetical order! The owner is really helpful. Give it a go.
No cafe, no toilets. Just plants and stuff to help you grow them.
a. g.
I have been coming her for a few years and always good to see plants grown on the premises - shows they are pretty hardy once they have come through the winter. Appears to specialise in shrubs but some good varieties that I havnt seen elsewhere. Love the hide and not often I have seen such a range of birds - spend at least an hour each time I go just watching the siskins which we don't get in sunny Bolton. I appreciate that reviews are often bias but I can only say I take the 30 min drive from Bolton on a regular basis to stock up on stuff on a 2/3 weekly basis and the staff are always happy to help. - Defo not badly priced
A. B.
