Reviews of P Franco

Cosy wine bar with very few veggie options (mainly cheese) but perfect for a stopover on the way to diner.

I really loved the place and the vibe, and they do carry a good selection of wines however towards the end of the evening I was quite disappointed with the service. We had ordered food soon after being seated and after almost 2hrs we enquired about our order of the main dish only to be told that it "takes a while to get ready". I found that a bit hard to believe because I saw the same dish being given out to customers (who ordered after us, or actually didn't even order it) multiple times throughout our 2hr wait. In the end, I think they simply forgot about it and then when we reminded them quickly started getting it ready, at which point we cancelled our order and asked for the bill. My friends and I would have honestly preferred to be told that they forgot about it and that they apologise, and not get lied to. Other than that it was a nice night and experience but for us the cost vs. benefit ratio was a bit off xxx

It’s pricy, but an engaging experience. Could possibly do with another member of staff, but I’m sure they are just starting out. The central table is a great way to engage everyone. The wine selection is broad, and the staff knowledge able.

The service was so great and friendly and the atmosphere is vibrant and so much fun! Very unique because it is a big communal table so it has a great feel to it. Only giving 4 stars because the menu was good but the food was not the strongest point. The dishes were innovative but most lacked a bit of flavor.

Really intimate atmosphere, as if you've been welcomed into someone's home. Great wine selection and top food, the beef tartare was amazing (Pictured: Coppa)

My favourite place in Hackney. This place has the best selections of all natural wines in London. The staff here are so so so nice. They know so much about each wine and the producers.

Great wine, and great service with mont d’or what more could you ask for

Food was delightful and the atmosphere is great. Wines were interesting and thoughtfully selected. It would be great to see a more diverse crowd coming here.

The Atmosphere maks this place! Sitting around one large table feels like being invited to a dinner party at a friend's place. Excellent drinks recommendations.

Great wine shop, they only have good stuff

Atmosphere is super, bites are amazing and wines are even better

Beautiful wine and tremendous small plates. The food beers more towards snacks than mains, but you can totally make a meal of it by ordering more.
Really knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a great atmosphere.

This is the home of ‘glass pour’, let these guys choose the wines for you and you leave this place happy. The rotating chefs in residence also make you want to come back time and time again.
J. G.
I went there a few times because its intimate, good music, chilled out and was close to home and work. But wines can get super expensive. So drink slow! Also some great tapas.

My favorite spot in London for amazing food and wine! It’s a must :)
All dishes I ate were unforgettable and the attention to detail is felt on each bite.

What has happened to Lower Clapton? I can't walk down the street without looking through the window of a craft beer shop a vegan cafe or a wannabe Michelin star restaurant. We rocked up to P Franco at 6:30pm (you can't book) and it was packed. 16 seats available. It's just a little bit bigger than an underground train carriage. A wall of complex wine and single chef cooking over a hot plate. Sounds like a recipe for disaster but it was great, although the fried brain was a bit of a challenge. By 8pm the place was rammed. When we left we noticed that a number of hopefully dinners had given up waiting and were happily chewing on a slice of pizza in the restaurant next door.
An experience but may be a bit too cool for school.

Nice place but sooo overhyped. Food is nice, creative and overpriced. Same goes for the wine list. I like the cheerful atmosphere, sitting at a communal table, the rotating chefs. However they cram the place to a point where sometimes it’s just impossible to have a conversation without shouting. And it can feel a bit pretentious, they’re trying so hard to be trendy. They don’t take reservations so sometimes the queue can be ridiculous, I don’t recommend queueing for a good but overpriced meal.

Me and my girlfriend love this place. A perfect date spot. The staff are always super friendly and chilled. Trying new wine all the time is a great concept. And the food is always great.

Awesome spot. I'll admit I don't eat here as much as I would like. They always have yummy morsels at the weekends and the staff are super helpful with wines. All in all good banter. If your feeling social you should eat here.

Really interesting wine choices and wildly knowledgeable staff. Food was tasty as well. This is no where near convenient for me to get to but I’ll absolutely be back.
A. B.
Overhyped small wine bar. Yes they have many bottles of great wine, but I didn’t care for the selection of what was open. Service was also quite slow.
Z. C.
Great selection of wines. You can pop by for a glass of wine from one of the bottles they have opened at the time (very different but all delicious) or buy the whole bottle. There's only one big table in the center that you'll share with the rest of the costumers, which adds to the charm.
If you don't know what to get, the great staff can help you find what you're looking for. They nailed it.
T. C.
Had a really nice time there. The place offers a very convivial but intimate atmosphere. The wine selection is impressive while the food is delicious and very well-balanced! A must-go in Clapton.

Great wines at really fair prices. Just a tenner corkage on the bottle shop price. Really great food (small menu, kudos 👌🏼) currently being cooked by Tim Spedding. Best way to enjoy is by ordering the whole menu to share between two. Get there (very) early on a thurs/fri/sat night otherwise you'll be waiting. Further proof this is the spot.

Its a wine bar but from Thursday to Sunday they have guest chefs come in usually from Michelin star restaurants and give a good deal on their dishes. I tried the code in gooseberry butter and it was delicious. I highly recommend this place.

A real London destination. natural wines are served up by passionate and informed staff who have clearly found their vocation in life. The small kitchen, if it can be called that, merely two hobs and some frying pans, is helmed by a truly creative and excellent resident chef. Italianate dishes fly out to hungry drinkers and the plates truly are exceptional of value and taste. This is one not to be missed.
A. K.
Great wine selection, fresh seasonal food (small plates good for sharing) and atmosphere. The staff know what they're talking about and are super accommodating.
S. D.
Amazing secret venue in an old Chinese takeaway. Surrounded by a great choice of top class wines you sit at a long table and are served small plates of fresh food changed in a daily basis. Absolutely excellent.
K. P.
Great selection of wine, knowledgeable staff who make you feel welcome.
Menu changes regularly as different chefs take over the kitchen, each as talented and interesting as the next
C. P.
Excellent wine and great food, a nice crowd but can be busy. I would definitely recommend for those that enjoy cutting edge wines.
G. C.
Fatatic selection of wine combined with staff that have extensive knowledge and experience. The food is always diverse and served at an exceptional standard
J. B.
Love this place for a casual bite to eat and always great wine!! Such a fun atmosphere too. Best on a Friday night :)
A. H.
Great food, service and wine. Will definitely be back!
R. S.
Liked the concept, staff were good but too crowded. Thought too few staff to punters ratio which meant service was TOO laid back. Also felt a little bit too precious.
A. F.
Great service and delicious orange wine
R. P.
Great, interesting wines and delicious food. Can get a bit cramped but worth the experience. Staff are awesome.
A. A. M.
Love this natural wine shop and bar. One of the best options in London. Amazing guest chefs all the time.

Super fun place. Who would have imagined it was there behind the Chinese takeaway front

Great bar but be there early as there are only limited spaces.

Great place that will listen and cater to your tastes rather then having a set list for the day

Just okay.

I love this neighbourhood spot with its £8.50 wines by the glass, overwhelming wine options but aided by super friendly staff with on-point recommendations.
I ordered the raw scallops with brioche, and chef Meedu Saad of Kiln Soho’s dishes are spot on and full of flavour! Excited to come back.
