Reviews of Yardarm
M. T.
Really lovely neighbourhood shop with great produce and very friendly and helpful staff.
Their selection of craft beer is excellent, with frequent rotations that ensures you are drinking extremely freshly brewed beers. Other snacks and deli items are also of a very high quality.
The tables and chairs outside the shop make for a very pleasant venue for casual open air drinking and socialization.
This place comes highly recommended.

These are the best salted chocolate cookies I have possibly ever had. And that’s coming from a serious cookie connoisseur (if I may say so myself). I live in west London but came over to invest in a bag and what a treat it was!!! Obviously the rest of the store is full of goodness too as it’s always been. Thanks for being an important part of the community!! ❤️❤️❤️
L. B.
Incredible good quality food!! We ordered the mushroom croquettes three times. The bread was well sourced to mop up all the delicious dips!! Lovely bits and delicious hot of orange white wine!
S. S.
Great food, huge selection of beer and wine, and does really nice coffee and lunches too
K. B.
Always get a friendly welcome and the food is delicious. Bread from the shop is also v good and not over-priced.
É. M.
Tasty coffee, friendly service, good variety of organic products and very nice backyard to chill out.

Visited the wine bar next door and it’s such a great place! Relaxed and cosy with a great selection of wine by the glass

Friendly and well stocked deli/wine/coffee shop

Great food, staff are nice but not very attentive. Waited 10 mins for an extra plate, third time of asking
K. P.
The staff was very friendly. Offered us seats immediately. Very clean restaurant and seating area. The food was amazing. Very well balances meal. Definitely worth a try. The only thing I would suggest is to keep an eye on the unisex toilets as they did look like they needed a clean but overall food and staff were 👍.

Wonderful shop with great stock including some beautiful wines, really interesting range of lagers and IPAs, and delicious fresh breads and pastries. The proprietors are lovely and incredibly helpful. This place is a real asset to the local area.

Lovely little boutique food and coffee shop. Staff are very friendly, and the vibe in here is just great. Will be making more visits!
S. F.
Very very nice shop with amazing bread and other delicious food products. Definitely upper end of price range where you get three things for the better part of £15 but if you're bouji or trying to impress someone this is the spot. Highly recommend the focaccia. Also sell booze and nice pastries.
S. J.
A seriously well managed local Cafe, winery, bakery and thoroughly enjoyable watering hole.

We had a WONDERFUL evening here wine tasting with Eliza. We learned so much about low intervention and natural wines, and tasted several delicious samples - all happily available in the wonderful shop next door (we couldn't help but buy two!). Her enthusiasm for wine is contagious, knowledge very sound, and the setting was intimate and (important these days) very safe. We bought some snacks to accompany the evening and they were also deeelicious. We'll certainly be back!
C. H.
Love the concept of this shop and the variety of produce they sell. I don't live locally so I predominantly pop in after a class at Pause across the street for a coffee and fresh loaf, but I can vouch for their consistency of a great flat white every Saturday!
J. L.
Really nice deli/cafe tucked away on Francis Road. Very expensive but clearly high quality stuff. Big wine selection and also cured meats, cheeses, bread etc. Also found some nice coffee beans.
Quite small but extra seating space outside.

Great local wine bar. Staff are super friendly & there is just such a great feel to the place. I like that the wine list is simple & not over charging for the sake of over charging. Definitely one of my favourite wine bars in London
J. F. P.
Fantastic selection of wine, craft beer, fresh bread and posh groceries. Decent covid safety with hand sanitizer and disposable masks available at the entrance.

Beautiful little shop / bar in Leyton. Great selection of beers and some unique, carefully chosen wines.
The new restaurant next door with Kettle and Ryan is just superb. A simple but considered menu with exceptionally well priced, delicious wines. We absolutely loved it

The best local store in Leyton! I wanted to send a gift hamper during lockdown and they took the time to listen to what the recipient liked and built the perfect curation! Sam even delivered it locally for me on his way home! 10/10 for an incredible experience Thankyou!

I spent 19 years as an LQA (Leading Quality Assurance) inspector, visting and reporting on the best hotels in the world, including their many awarding winning restaurants including Michelin starred ones. Having lunch today in Yardarm, it felt like I was back at work again!: The food was sublime - beautifully presented, delicious, balanced, generous portions and quality ingredients. The service matched - relaxed, welcoming and charming. I only managed to get a table as they had a last minute cancellation, so nook up early - it's worth it!
B. C.
Lovely range of local produce for purchase, great lunch menu and really friendly staff.

My morning’s wouldn’t be the same without a coffee and croissant from Yardarm! A beautiful and considered family-run spot with the most friendly and welcoming staff, amazing coffee and pastries and incredible selection of alcohol and deli goods. They also have a lovely garden out the back which is idyllic for summer days. Perfect for your morning coffee all the way through to your evening nightcap!
L. D.
The baguettes are incredible. They do sell out though so try to get there before noon, or earlier on a weekend / bank holiday.
Y. T.
Lovely flat white (and 100% compostable cups) and great croissants (crisp and flaky) and delicious salted caramel canelle. Friendly, helpful staff.
S. T.
Lovely deli and wine merchants, filled with gorgeous local produce and other delicious things (e.g. cheeses, sausage rolls, baked goods). There is a small bar/cafe out the back with outdoor seating. We even found a red wine from Sussex which we didn't know existed!

Best local for food, wine and negronis

I accidentally discovered Yardarm when I first moved to Leytonstone in July 2019 & fancied a decent coffee. It was far better than decent & turned into an exciting experience when I realised I could buy reasonably priced wine, cheese, cured meat & bread there too. I was delighted to hear Yardarm would open a restaurant in late 2019 & ended up going two nights in a row. What a great find! On the first night my boyfriend & I had the posh fried chicken with homemade pickles, bone marrow on sourdough toast with parsley, and shared a deliciously fresh & warming fish stew, & a roasted jerusalem artichoke dish. We had two lovely puddings (one of them homemade doughnuts) & drank a great bottle of red after a couple of glasses of orange wine. On the second night I took another friend & we ate beef tongue tacos (extremely tasty), then shared a pork dish with red cabbage, & a lovely roasted squash dish with homemade ricotta. I use the word ‘homemade’ rather liberally here... everything’s bloody ‘homemade’! You know what I mean. Great wine. Great service. A creative, seasonal and unpretentious menu that varies from time to time. Not too much choice (which I rather like). Orange wine (a rarity in this city). Friendly staff. Nice vibes. Not too spenny. What a great restaurant. I wish I’d opened it first, but then again I wouldn’t be able to experience those delights in the same way! Yardarm is an original & unspoiled little gem that seems to take some inspiration from the likes of St John & Pigeon, but without the 3-months-in-advance bookings & the crazy prices. I can’t wait for my third visit. Pay-day’s in 3 weeks. I’ll be celebrating the end of dry Jan there with a glass of orange wine. Nice one guys 👌🏻

A Leyton institution. Yardarm hits the mark on so many levels. Pick up wines, beers, fresh coffee, pastries, breads to takeaway. Great for popping in for a post-work glass of wine on a Friday night.
S. F.
Fantastic experience from start to finish, we bought our wine in the bottle shop and then had plate after plate of delicious food with great ambience and service. Great value - couldn’t recommend more!! Go!
M. C.
Yardarm is a gem. Excellent selection of food and wine. Beautiful store/bar area. And the customer service is second to none. They also do great "tastings" Eliza has a wealth of knowledge. I love this place!
L. G.
The best upmarket full English around.
Gorgeous coconut chai latte and oat milk late. Such beautiful cosy and contemporary interior design.
Thank you for a great brunch! Fave on Francis Road.
O. V.
Lovely local place, food has been really nice. Good selection of wines and beers also. Super friendly staff
A. B.
A great find. Good for wine, beer, IPL, fresh bread and groceries. The stock is sourced from local producers and quality is great. You can also enjoy a hot or cold drink with light bites in the garden or bar area. Bit on the expensive side but worth a visit.
C. Q.
Tip: expect the unexpected, when they simply state potatoe in the menu don’t assume the obvious, these are like million dollars fries...
Went for brekkie, I’m not one to usually order a fry but it was honestly delicious 😋 Went back for dinner. Mushroom croquettes are amazing, the carrot & grains dish was nearly like pudding it was so yum and the fried chicken was 👌🏻 . We over ordered so took away the pumpkin ragu pasta and had it for lunch the next day and it too was amazo 🙌🏻
V. K.
Lovely selection of beer, wine and spirits. Staff is kind and knowledgeable in what cheese and food to have with the wine and beer.
T. B.
Nice spot for a stop off on the way home
S. T.
Always a friendly welcome, sumptuous looking produce, and 3 areas to choose to sit. Very likely to see a friendly neighbour, a regular Yardarm visitor or strike up a chat with someone new. Always a pleasure.
B. H.
Good coffee and almond croissants.
N. D.
Always good to feel welcome, especially when you have a child in a wheelchair.
M. B.
This is a pretty cool place with the the sort of selection pretty cool places such as this have these days, y'know: coffee, pastries, beards... So, nothing particularly new or innovative but decent: just ask for your toasted sourdough to be actually toasted if that's how you like your toast.
J. R.
One of our local favourites - especially for the wine and cheese, though there’s loads more on offer here
L. M.
Great place to get wine, ales as well as food items. Feels part of the community. Very friendly staff. Lovely to drink there and they do an awesome expresso martini!
R. L.
Open for tea coffees pastries etc have delightful garden through rear of shop
T. B.
There's probably not much I can add to previous reviews, except to say what a game-changer this shop was for Leyton, when it first opened.
True, it's far from the cheapest, but the deli sells goods of inarguable quality, as well as a fantastic range of beers and wines. Just the thing if you fancy a posh tipple or nibble at the weekend (ooh-er).
The decor is minimal yet welcoming, the staff friendly, and the bijou bar at the rear a cosy place for an intimate drink. Plus (top tip) the seating area outside is a jewel in Summer.
S. F.
If YOU are a wine lover, and YOU love typical product from ITALY, FRANCE & many other european countries, you HAVE to pop in and have a check.
Thanks god there’s is Yardarm in Leyton!
j. M.
Great addition to the Francis Street/Leyton area.
Good all day, but the beer & bottle selection is stellar it's brevity of breath yet introduction to the more individual.
Deliis/bakery is similar.
Locally owed to improve local life!
K. B.

Y. S.

Lovely coffee/bar at the back and very friendly :) delicious craft beer too! Excited for the garden in the summer
S. C.
The store that some say kickstarted the regeneration or others say gentrification of Francis Rd for better or worse. The staff are generally always professional & friendly there was for a while perhaps a bit of complacency that set in, & a bit of a lack of effort to engage with the wider range of different types of local people as opposed to the upper middle class Notting Hill set type of clientele which is sad really as the indigenous locals were there far longer so it will take time for Yardarm to fully integrated into the local existing community so instead have tried to create it's own niche but at times a bit of a disconnected island kingdom, so a bit of effort in that respect would be very welcome. Yardarm was noticeably pretty much the only store that didn't give out any sweets/baked treats to the local children trick or treating on Halloween unlike some wonderful stores on Francis Rd even the Asian owner of the small newsagent/grocers on Francis Rd that didn't have any decorations up, picked up sweets off his shelves and gave them away with a smile. Also the store is regularly closed alot for one reason or another which can be quite frustrating at times when you don't have that many local options for luxury priced deli produce which is what they specialise in as well as wine.
However this is a very very pretty store aesthetically speaking with a wide selection of fancy delicatessen produce for which they get the star given above & it was pretty much the store that began the gentrification of Francis Rd & Leyton Village (not a bad thing at all as it has made the road alot nicer visually than it was )
Please NB:-I have fairly changed & increased my rating/review to 4 as I have seen changes in the issues I openly & honestly accurately highlighted & believe credit where credit is due
J. K.
