Reviews of The Maidstone Distillery

Had a fantastic tour and tasting here yesterday! It was very informative and great to hear about the rich history of Maidstone Gin. All the staff were so passionate and you could tell they really love what they do. There's a great little shop area too where we purchased some of the delicious George Bishop Gin and some of the beautiful glasses. Definitely planning to go back for the cocktail making class!

Although we have lived in Maidstone for over 5 years now, it took us a trip to the Bluewater Mall - “Produced in Kent” store to find out there is a Gin Distillery in Maidstone. The moment we found out, we booked a tour. We had a great experience. Amanda and Naomi talked us through the history of Gin Distillation in Maidstone and the history of the Maidstone Market Building where the Distillery is currently located. We also tasted two Gins distilled in-house. The George Bishop Gin is pretty good. We enjoyed the tour of the site as well where the distillation process was explained to us. For such a small team of 8, it sure takes a lot to produce such good quality products. We were told Darren and Sam, the founders, are extremely passionate about the Distillery. And it was extremely evident based on what we saw. We are so glad we have such a great Distillery literally 10 minutes walk away.

Excellent gin making experience. Four of us went and made a bottle each. Lots of lovely gins to try and the toffee liquer is gorgeous. Well worth the visit and great fun for a special occasion.

We went to the Maidstone Gin Distillery a few weekends ago for our friend's 40th.
I personally have mainly been on beer and whisky tours, so it was great to hear the history of gin and Maidstone (another part of Kent to where we are all from).
We had two ladies who looked after us for the session. I can't remember the first ladies name but she was very helpful but Naomi did the 2nd part of our tour.
Due to it only being our group for this tour, we got a private session, which was great and unexpected.
This was a really nice addition to our friend's day of entertainment, as we got to spend quality time all together, as well as the chance to try a new gin (which is never a bad thing).
I really enjoyed this tour as it felt personal and fun, which isn't always the casen so I
highly reccommend it. You also get to have a few tasters and a big glass of gin with your tour, which is pretty sweet too 😊

A really great tour, very informative and the gin is amazing! Finished off perfectly with an espresso martini including their delightful toffee liqueur. Would strongly recommend.

What a great tour! I’ve attended a fair few distillery/brewery tours and found this one the most entertaining and interesting by far. The product itself it’s fantastic and the hosts are friendly and informative (but without being boring). Couldn’t recommend more.

Four of us thoroughly enjoyed our evening Distillery tour. We were greeted by very informative staff who went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and explained the history of Gin distilling in Maidstone and elaborated on the current process.
It is a small personal distillery so don't expect huge bottling machines. They make batches of 'hand made' gin lovingly produced to the highest standards, which you will be pleased to know you get to sample.
The whole experience is not rushed and plenty of time to ask searching questions and see how the magic is performed.
I and my whole group would recommend this as well worth 'doing' if you are ever in Maidstone.
You will also learn a lot about the passion that goes into a bottle and they may even give you a seek preview of new products under development.

An awesome afternoon with the Maidstone Distillery. Lots of historical information as well as a large gin & mixer, a Kent garden cocktail and two gin tasters, all included in the price of £20. We will be back!

We took part in a gin making experience with the Maidstone Distillery. This was a fantastic experience. We were looked after very well by our hosts and learnt a lot about gin. It was great to take away our own bottle of gin that we made. This is a lovely business. I recommend popping in for a drink. Or to pick up a bottle or two of great gin. Or sign up to a tour or experience.

My husband and I had a great morning making our own gin from scratch with the help of the fantastically knowledgeable staff at the Maidstone Distillery. The experience was wonderful, starting with a generous gin and tonic to get us in the mood and a cocktail whilst our newly made gin distilled and another gin to finish off the session. Great atmosphere and great experience. Highly recommend.
