Reviews of Lewis Leathers

Review Update:
4.5 months after I placed my order and I do have a jacket that I'm pretty much happy with, it isn't perfect / what I had expected but I think, having spoken to Rip & the team, I have been pretty unlucky in terms of the faults/errors with the jacket & manufacturing. Not something you'd expect from a brand with their reputation/cost but they did work hard to put things right in the end.
I probably would purchase from Lewis Leathers again as their jackets are really nice and there are quite a few models I like from them, but wasn't quite the experience I'd hoped for.
Thanks to the team for getting it sorted in the end anyway!

Pretty disappointed with my Lewis Leathers jacket and the experience all round so far. The order took 3 and a bit months or so to be completed as stated which was fine. During trying on the jacket for the first time, the popper on the front broke, pretty frustrating after waiting for so long but I put it down to one of those things, the jacket was returned and repaired in a few weeks.
However, when the jacket was returned after the repair, I noticed there were jagged leather pieces inside both armpits beneath the lining that you can physically feel when wearing it. Not something I would have expected for any jacket let alone one from LL. A bit of back and forth on email again and the jacket is now back with LL to be fixed for the 2nd time as the leather had not been rounded off in the armpits. Something I've never experienced or seen in any other jackets/brands.
Rip has been helpful as has Lily in getting this sorted but I did feel the apologies were originally more focused around "this has never happened before" rather than just focusing on sorting a solution until I had put a bit of pressure on via email.
All in all, a pretty poor experience so far for a jacket at such a high price point from a company with a good reputation. Whilst the leather looks like it is nice quality, I'm not very impressed with the quality of construction or the 'quality control'. I feel it should have never got to this point / been delivered to me in this state if it had been checked correctly or even made in the way that they advertise their jackets as being constructed. Overall, a bit of a downer on what was meant to be a great experience and in hindsight I'd probably consider other brands moving forwards for other purchases. Hopefully this next repair will be thorough & it will arrive in a decent state. I'll update my review accordingly.

Having recently returned to motorcycling after a break of 15 years I Called into the shop while on a 2 day visit to London to purchase a leather lighting jacket. The young man who dealt with me was friendly knowledgeable and very helpful. After trying on several sizes we Managed to find my perfect jacket off the peg. Having owed a lewis leather jacket purchased from the Portland Rd shop in early 80s which I unfortunately grew out of! I was pleased to find the quality was certainly still present in the leather and construction and love the retro style it's so good to know we can still produce quality products in this country.
Highly recommended

Got my first leather jacket "dominator" from lewis leathers. Fits awesome, even when i got long arms. Ordered the sidecar sneakers and i'm also truly 100% convinced about them. Big compliment!

Great British product with a fantastic history. Beware you pay for quality, but your credibility will sky rocket.

So dropped into see the team and have a small touch up done to my 191 Highways too. Couldn’t resist a 443 racer jacket to add to the collection whilst there :-) ...My thanks to Lily, Simon and the team for a great experience and a smashing LL jacket of course.
Can’t add anything to all the great stuff said about LL here. They are just excellent, especially when compared to once great British Brands that are now made overseas. ...we know who they are ;-) ...LL - still made in London and Northampton, old school exceptional quality - says it all really :-)) ...thanks again guys !!

Leather jacket heaven. Loads of accessories/ memorabilia too. Great staff friendly and knowledgeable. Good to see them open again.

Lewis Leathers is the only place to buy a leather motorcycle jacket from (imho). I bought the Lightening 402 Made to measure in sheep leather. The jacket fits like a glove and the leather is premium quality along with the impeccable workmanship. All the guys in the shop are down to earth, polite and helpful, taking time to talk about the different styles, hides and custom alterations available. A great experience buying into a piece of London's leather jacket history. Thanks again to all at LL.

Amazing jacket and staff are very helpful and making the experience special. I bought the horse hide jacket and was told it would soften quickly, which it has and 6 months later it's spot on. I wouldn't shop anywhere else for a leather jacket. Lewis is by far the best.
