Visited on first opening day of 2022. An assortment of memorabilia from the 1940's and relevant to the airfield on site. It is staffed by volunteers and has a very friendly vibe. Lots of photos, letters and other details from the local area paint a vivid picture of life at the time. Seating available outside and we enjoyed free coffee for a donation. A rewarding couple of hours.
Forgot to mention, it's free to visit......

Fantastic museum crammed full of fascinating original WW2 era artefacts. Contains so much history about the original air base and surrounding area. The museum is a credit to the volunteers who run it. They are welcoming, enthusiastic and full of knowledge.

What a gem! Small museum on the Thurleigh Airfield, dedicated to the 306th heavy aircraft group, run by volunteers. Sets out the experiences and outcomes of the brave American airmen that were stationed there. Its free entry, and even has light refreshments!! Plenty of parking, lovely location too.

Lovely museum to visit. Off the main road on an old airfield (RAF & American). Everything well thought out with seating outside to enjoy a coffee if the sun is out. A good atmosphere inside to wander around to get a feel of wartime.

Wonderful museum about the 306th Bomb Group (United States 8th Air Force), which was stationed here (RAF Thurleigh) during World War II. It also covers what life was like for local citizens during the war. There's a ton of information and artifacts, definitely worth the visit!

What a little gem of a place. In the rural bedfordshire it is worth the visit. Might look small from the outside but if you love military history this is the place to go. Full of interesting information and old photos from the war. We where here for an hour or more it's on an old airfeild site, which I believe may still be in use.
Well set out and walked around love it.
When we stood outside a Lancaster bomber went over.
It's free to visit but please look up opening times. Well done for the hard work the volunteers out it. Cup of tea was on the offering too. Love the photo of the land army girls parading Bedford high Street.

Really enjoyed it. Yes it's very small but there is so much packed in there. The gentlemen there on our day were happy to answer any questions but also happy to let you just wonder around and soak it all in yourself. They also have a little tea and coffee stand there. If you're interested in WW2 history then you will enjoy this.

"It was one of the greatest museums I ever went to" Zachary age 7
Took my military - obsessed son to this amazing museum today, what a gem. We will have to return as not only does Zach want to visit again but having spent 2 hours there I'm pretty sure we have only seen half the amazing stuff on display, there is so much to see. The guys that run it made us feel so welcome and make a mean cuppa!!!
There is a outside seating area with tables and chairs so you can take a packed lunch and there is a small memorial garden too.

Wow iam so glad the 306th Bomberdment museum is open again, it's a real history of the men and women who worked and served there, one of them being my great uncle smithie who was a awarded one of the highest awards in the USAF in World War Two and married a local girl my great aunt. The museum is run by really friendly people, today I met one, John thank you so much for keeping this local history alive.
