Really lovely little place that is only open to the public on open days. The animals are clearly well looked after and cared for. This is not your usual zoo type attraction. The talks were informative, though a little short. But the staff were quite happy to answer any questions anybody had and have a chat. Well worth a visit. We have been for an experience day in the past and they are even better.

Really enjoyed the experience ! Very friendly and knowledgeable handler. We had the falconry experience on 6th august at 10am .it was great being up close to these fantastic birds and learning how to handle, feed and get a good general knowledge of their behaviour and habitat.

Wonderful visit with family, price very reasonable for all day entry, plenty to see and do, excellent cafe on site, free parking! Superb 'Owl Experience'. Got to hold various types of owl from all over the world and the UK. Loved Pedro and Dotty, who were such characters! Need to book in advance. Large car park, free. Once inside the centre, pathway wood chippings, so not great for pushchairs etc. There were a lot of participants on the experience so a lot of time spent moving the owls from one person to the next. The host was brilliant, very knowledgeable and you could see how much she cares about these lovely creatures. However taking into account a couple of negatives, still a 5 star experience.

Lovely place. It is not huge but between the birds and the activities you can easily fill most of a day. The kids were enthusiastic. The staff is friendly and patient, letting all children have a chance to take part in the activities.

A small animal rescue centre with a great variety of small animals and a selection of birds of prey. They offer a range of experiences, animal encounters and falconry days included, and regular open days. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Check their website for experiences.

Absolutely fantastic. Fairly small so not an entire day out but well worth a visit if you're in the area, this is reflected in the low entry price. They only have 6 open days a year and I'll definitely be going back to as many as I can. When there you have opportunities to hold a bird for only a couple of pounds. This is definitely worth doing, especially if you have children, who will enjoy holding them. They also have other animals, and talks about the various animals to give a great all around experience.

Two hour experience of being up close to these magnificent owls with an excellent handler. Small group of us each given the chance to hold a bird of prey and feed the bird. Rachel the handler was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions she was funny but still passionate about her job. Definitely would recommend

This is an amazing hidden gem. Great range of unusual animals and birds. The flying displays are outstanding, especially Dash. They also do a range of unique experiences at very reasonable prices, the Hawk Walk is amazing.

Spent 90 minutes here on a bird of prey experience as a birthday surprise! Great place to visit and really good people. Rachael was spot on - good fun and really knowledgeable. Was able to have two spectators as well which was a nice Brucey bonus! A word of warning, Calypso is pretty heavy!!

My partner and myself booked onto the Bird of Prey experience. It was a fantastic afternoon and 90 minutes was a good amount of time to handle the birds and get the opportunity to fly the Harris hawk. I would definitely recommend but do be prompt as you wouldn't want to miss this opportunity.

Brilliant experience. Due to Covid restrictions we had to wait for my Husband to be able to use his voucher. Which was a Christmas present 2019. We were not disappointed, Rachel,our guide, was so knowledgeable on all aspects of the birds, and the work of the centre. I went as a spectator, for an additional £10. I was included in the experience, apart from handling the birds. Would definitely recommend.

First time visit today(25-9-21) for a bird of prey experience, absolutely fantastic, met and held owls a falcon and a hawk and also flew one of the owls. The staff member who took us was very knowledgeable and informative but also made it very enjoyable, would definitely go again

Just had a great experience meeting Pedro the Mexican mottled owl, cinamon the Barn owl, Alanna the Lanar Falcon, Franklyn the Harris Hawk and Calypso the Siberian Eagle owl. Rachel told us so much about each bird and how they live in the wild and how they are cared for at the sanctuary. A fantastic opportunity i even got to fly cinamon.

Very small, so I definitely wouldn't expect a full day out of the trip. More for older children, (and definitely not buggy friendly, due to the terrain!) But the people are very knowledgeable and their talks are very good. It is good to see the birds flying and my 3 yr old just about watched it. The small restaurant outside is great.

Nice hidden place. Went for a bird of prey experience and gained some good knowledge about the birds. The main speaker seemed really enthusiastic and passionate about the birds which was nice to see. Got to fly one of the birds, would have been nice to fly another one as it seemed very quick and over with. But other than that we had a lovely time, even got a voucher for a cream tea after. :)

Our 2 hour experience with owls today was absolutely brilliant got to handle the owls and even fly one. Rachel our guide today was fab with the owls extremely knowledgable and clearly loves them. Would highly recommend will be going back for the different experience days.

Went for an open day and was very impressed by the varieties of birds on display. Despite this not being an organised zoo (I knew that going it but others may not) it was well laid out and able to see everything. Bear in mind that while there is a lot to see it is very small, so don't expect to spend more than an hour here.

The open day was good because out let children hold the birds of prey. They also enjoyed seeing the different cages with animals and birds. However there wasn't really enough to keep them busy for long enough to wait for the different events during the day. However there is a cafe right next to the sanctuary and a garden centre a short walk across the car park. The garden centre had animals and a cafe, as well as a soft play which kept them busy.

Only open a few days a year to the public, however experiences can be purchased for closed days. It was great to see all the animals, and they seem well looked after. The staff/volunteers are very knowledgeable, and clearly have a passion for what they are doing. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, spending around 6 hours watching the animals, and the talks etc.

Brilliant place to go see a wide variety of animals. Closed to the public except for a few open days a year and some experience days you can purchase online. Very hands on got to interact with an armadillo, foxes and an owl but species can vary depending on when you go. Handlers were very knowledgeable and welcoming, only wish the session could have been longer.

Went to the Bird of Prey Encounter - a great way to get up close to these magnificent birds. You get the chance to hold them, feed them, fly them and understand them. Had an amazing owl experience day with my daughter Stacey Knapp. The member of staff who took the session was extremely knowledgeable and great fun. It is obvious that a lot of care and dedication goes into looking after these amazing birds.

Me and my partner attended the owl experience for the first time here and unfortunately it was not what we expected. Firstly the area is crazy hard to find because there are no signing into you pull into the car park, as the sign is actually hiding behind something else. I asked when I booked if the experience was in groups in which they replied no more then a handful and when we arrived there was 16 people crowded in a tiny steamy canopy outside in the rain which would of been fine if the tent was spacious and we had seats. My partner had to constantly bend his neck down making him feel unwell, and the whole experience was standing for 2 hours in a crowded tent, unfortunately we ended up leaving after 40 minutes due to it not being what was advertised. If I was aware it was going to be a huge group activity I would not of booked it in due to being claustrophobic which is why I asked about how many the session was for. Such a shame because the first two owls were absolutely gorgeous but I wasted more then enough money on something I did not enjoy and won’t be returning to this. Nice and friendly staff though.

Very nice little centre. Not just birds of prey, also lots of small mammals such as foxes, mongoose, meerkats etc. The animals are well looked after. Make sure you check when it is open as they are only open on certain days. Check out the hawk walks they are also good.

Visited open day in August - got lost trying to find center which had no signage whatsoever. We missed the bird handling which was only on from 10-12 - difficult for those whose have driven from afar to get to, but with the hot weather we can understand why no more handling was allowed. However, the displays were very poorly organised, no PA/loudspeaker system so we couldn't hear a thing over the constant airplanes, even when the crowd was shouting that they could not hear. Also, due to the crowds, we couldn't get anywhere near the arena to watch birds from afar. Staff could have asked spectators to move down to allow children to get in to see. Flying displays could also do with more seating and more cover from the sun. My niece was sick with the heat having to stand in the sun, unable to see. This was a birthday present for my brother and he was unable to get near to any birds to take photos, and couldn't see or hear any of the displays. Bit of a waste of time. I think we would have appreciated an itinerary and maybe some fans for the birds on the hot day. This all being said, I could not fault the wonderful staff who seemed knowledgeable and dedicated.

Parking ok. Cafe mearby for drinks & food, and toilets. Small place with all the birds etc. Also have meerkats, foxes, skunks. Can get crowded so a little tricky with wheelchairs and pushchairs. Open 'arena' with seating. Show also had other animals which the public are allowed to touch - naked rat, stick insect, pygmy hedgehog, python then the birds of prey came out as a display. Learnt a lot about the birds and animals. Was certainly well worth a visit. Only open on certain days of the year so need to check the dates.

An absolute must to visit with the children as well. Plenty to see and you can handle some of the birds for a small extra fee which all goes back onto the place and the birds. Very friendly staff who are always on hand to tell you more about the birds.

Great what they do for the wildlife but £7.50 to have a photo with a baby alligator, and £125 for two people to feed a fox is stupidly overpriced. Just leave your bin out early and feed a fox for free!
