Reviews of Norwegian Church Arts Centre
Lovely old building renovated and has a cafe inside. Fab location.
A very nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seats overlooking the bay. The cafe was very busy on the day we visited but the staff were very organised and took orders and advised us there was a wait.
Great venue for a private party. There were 2 bars indoors, a terrace for dancing, a grassed area, plus an indoor dancefloor for later.
A very nice cafe. I had a lovely Strawberry Charlotte dessert. Scrumptious. Lovely and refreshing.
Popped in with the little one for an emergency nappy change. Person working there very helpful at directing us to the facilities but the facilities were slightly dirty and a bit cramped to take the pushchair/pram inside otherwise brilliant.
Not as looked after as the photos suggests and I was disappointed that the cafe presents as being the main part of it. I expected more "church" and history
Lovely place. Disabled toilet good, It was a bit tight entrance for me in a wheelchair, but great space in the circular room off the café area. Very interesting displays.
Was able to teach staff about assistance dogs and their right to enter their premises. Super coffees and cakes. Recommended.
Very nice place to visiting and to have a drink with a pice of cake or a waffle and ice cream! People are friendly and professional free WiFi and parking spaces nearby/ payment ones Children are safe and accessible toilets for disabled people. Very interesting art crafts. Worth the effort!
The Norwegian Church is clearly visible, a white spot in the bay. Today the church features a gallery and an café and keep your eyes open for once in a lifetime art installations on the upper floor!
Loved it,gives a different experience!! Couldn’t go inside but I am pretty sure you will love it
Lovely place, lots of history and views to match! This place serves nice coffee too! You couldn't ask for more, and a gift shop too with some great architecture to
Beautiful venue and the music was wonderful (Welsh trio 'Plu')
Norweigan wooden church that was first built in 1868 for the Norwegian sailors that brought wooden props for use in the Welsh coal pits. It is now an arts and museum centre. A cafe is onsite. Located in Cardiff Bay. Parking at the multistorey Pierhead carpark(Well signed) a short walk away.
Lovely coffee and cake 🍰
Recently reopened as a cafe and arts venue. Looking forward to making more use of the space as time goes on.
Good walk
An iconic landmark, several cadet parades would be cancelled if this did not exist.
A beautiful little place situated in stunning surroundings. Lots of places close by to walk around, easy access from public transport with a short walk.
Church interesting. Cafe lacked trained staff, hopefully that's been put right for your visit.
What an amazing place. Highly recommended, great people, superb location.
Visited for the coffee not the religious experience. It a great place to sit and watch the Bay life pass by. The sofa by the windows over looking the bay are highly desirable
Hot chocolate was luke warm which was a dissapointment given 2 "hot" chocolates plus 2 cakes was £11.60. The toffee walnut cake was light and tasty and the views are the best all around, plus there is plenty of history in this place.
Very pretty with a lovely cafe - very dog friendly
So after you watch a lot of Vikings, you head over to Cardiff Bay to find this beautiful little church there. As soon as you get there, you find an ice cream truck nearby, kids playing, the old chatting on nearby benches and the young enjoying the sun. Perfect for times when you want to be alone among people and enjoy being at peace.
As wedding photographer I would highly reccomend this place for couples who are looking to have casual and relaxed wedding reception.
An interesting preserved part of Cardiff's history. It is a shame it doesn't feel more like a real church inside.
Historical ex-Lutheran church, now an Arts Centre and cafe famous for its Roald Dahl connection. Good place for a cuppa in addition to the arts offer. Saw Mike Peters (Alarm) here. Brilliant evening.
Great location and the little cafe was a little "kiss me quick" but still worth popping into whilst in Cardiff Bay
Beautiful views and good coffee. A great place for a break.
Lovely place to visit
Great looking building that is also a great little cafe right next to Cardiff Bay
Nice place for a coffee and cake 🍰
Nice little coffee shop and art / craft thing. Well worth a visit
Always something to see at the Church and lovely cake selection. Tables could be cleaned up after customers a little quicker though - looks messy when you're looking for a seat. Outside seating with views over the Bay.
Coffee is average. As tourists we tried The traditional Welsh Cawl - it tasted very bad! I don't recommend it. Don't know if the taste is normal or just poorly made but we where not able to eat that. The Traditional Welsh Rarebit was very nice. So mixed feelings about this place. Despite all that it is a nice little coffee place.
The church has been superbly restored, and still retains an ecclesiastical atmosphere. The building was actually moved from its original position nearby. Crafts are displayed in an atmospheric upper space. The cafe was rather good with superb views of Cardiff Bay. The Welsh Rarebit was outstandinv.
You should be visit here during summer. It is quite relax.
Lovely venue!
Amazing Art Gallery 🎨 upstairs , Cafe 🍵☕🍴 serves lovely food , drinks and snacks.
Nice staff and atmosphere.
I enjoyed a lovely spring onion and cheese sandwich.
Great place to spend some time.
What a nice little place this is superb tea and coffee great ambience and some really nice art. Plus the meals looked brilliant particularly the salads. Didn't eat because it was too early but would if it had been an hour later.
Iconic Norwegian Church is always worth a visit for a drink or snack. The property is very well used by craft fairs and the arts community. The car park is near by, and very popular as the views are stunning of the redesigned Tiger Bay area modern urban architecture mixed-up with vintage buildings.
Definitely needs to be visited if you are in the area.
Pretty little church sat on the waters edge in Cardiff Bay. Lovely little cafe inside with stunning views and freindly staff and upstairs is an art gallery displaying hand crafted goods. Also they sometimes have evening entertainment.
Nice. Inside is a cafe and not really what I thought it was going to be
Good chocolate cakes in Norsk Cafe here
Had lunch here food nice however pity about the staff didn't find them very welcoming and they looked miserable .
Great Tea and Coffee... Super Friendly Staff 😎👍🏻
Original Seamans church, moved to its current site as the docks were developed. Now an exhibition area with a really good cafe.
A great place to learn about Welsh love spoons and other Norwegian church history. Me and my partner visited the place. Bought 2 beautiful hand-made necklaces. I love them.
A beautiful building with interesting history and Roald Dahl links. Often has arts exhibits or craft fairs inside. Cafe looks good but I've never eaten there.
We have an interest in Scandinavian culture, and thought this would be interesting. However, the downstairs is now a cafe, and upstairs an art gallery/shop. Pleasant enough, but very little there to explain or illuminate the Norwegian influence in Cardiff. Some, but not much....
Beautiful little Church, and location.
They have great cappuccinos and Welsh cakes. Friendly staff and great views from the outdoor seating area. Historic.
Honestly, the Norwegian church is a little sad. It's undeniably historically significant, but today it's a cafe and craft shop. The cafe looks decent, but nothing special, while the craft is pretty lacking in comparison to other galleries such as craft in the bay.
I'd probably enjoy this place more as a museum, or a genuine Norwegian centre. Today it just doesn't feel at all Norwegian. The building feels repurposed, which makes me feel a little sad. Repurposing buildings is great, but it only tends to work when you have something great to do.
Nice cosy little place, perched on the edge of the water, you can sit and sip your coffee, eat a slice of cake or a jacket potato (food isn't bad by any means, but not flashy), and look out over the water to Penarth. Nicer than sitting in a coffee chain.
A superb piece of history located in Cardiff Bay, not only for the part it played during the expansion of the docks but also the relationship between Wales and Norway. As an added bonus THE world's greatest children's author Roal Dahl grew up and attended the church!! Packed full of history cant say better than that!!
It has a smashing little cafe with lovely views across Cardiff Bay towards Penarth but it also has a small event space available to rent. Great use of a historic building which keeps it very much relevant today.
Unusual building with reasonably priced food. If you travel via the boat from Cardiff Bute Park then your ticket entitles you to buy one coffee/tea and get one free.
Lovely building with a fantastic little cafe and art exhibition. Interesting history too.
Nice place but not an idea venue due to insufficient toilets. Also my bike was vandalised outside during the event so security is an issue.
Popped in here just to look at the interior. As I came in, a family of four were trying to get upstairs to see the exhibition. A member of staff stopped them going uo the stairs, saying it was closed. The family pointed out that it was 3pm and the exhibition was to be open until 4pm. The staff member said they had to take the exhibition down to be removed at 4pm so they were closing it now to begin work.
Seemed a bit stupid to advertise the wrong closing time.
Nice place, good coffee
All the years I have lived in the area and never been. What a Gem of a place in Cardiff Bay. A must see and don't forget to pay a visit to the gift shop while your there.
Another Cardiff institute. Great for a little wonder round. There is also a little cafe. Good for a pit stop on the way to the Barrage.
Lovely place to visit
My wife and I were married here. They did everything right. It made the old cliché true: my wedding day was the best day of my life. Obviously, my wife is the primary reason for that, but the Norwegian Church played its part.
A beautiful old wooden scandenavian church building, converted to a very pleasant cafe on Cardiff bay beside the Welsh Assembly building.
A wonderful little gem of a building, a decent rebuilt facsimilie of the old Norwegian church which used to stand there. I’d have added more stars if they’d used timber shiplap instead of plastic.
Lovely place, good views, good food in the cafe and an impressive art gallery. Worth a look
Not only a great historical venue and coffee shop but a lovely place to pick up artisan gifts made in Wales.
We dropped by 5 minutes before closing time and were still served with a smile and not rushed at all.
Highly recommend for a stop off, and a cup of tea. Didn't try the cakes this time but will definitely be back.
The staff are great as we walk in the staff ask do you want your usual food.
They are friendly and helpful and polite and bubbly.
A fabulous hideaway in the Bay. Great coffee and cake and friendly staff. Lovely photography exhibition upstairs too
Great space for a coffee and rest break. Very good coffee, wonderful friendly staff.
Overlooking the bay.
Super concert with John Owen-Jones in a lovely, cosy environment. 150th anniversary of the church this year, 2019.
Friendly staff, great, really great cake :D
Nice cafe on ground floor, good patio & views. Parking limited. Stairs not easy for 1st floor
Lovely place. The views are amazing and the coffee shop is great.
Nice wood building, clasdic northern
Wonderful building. Nice craft shop and cafe. Fascinating story
Lovely food at a reasonable price. Can recommend the leek and potato soup.
Lovely friendly staff, tasty fresh food/cakes and great coffee!
Good quality food. Very slow to deliver order's and tables left uncleaned and dishes left too long before being removed
Lovely arts & Crafts available as well as good food in the cafe.
I have strong Norwegian ties and family so a visit here is always a must
Beautiful building with history but very disappointed they don't serve Norwegian food and have Norwegian decor in the little cafe.
Simple and nice place. Tasty chocolate cake and proper flat white.
Iconic building in Cardiff Bay with quite a history reflecting Cardiff's maritime past.
Really nice little place. We stopped there as a part of our cradif tour.
Worth visiting to see its history and if you like art the upstairs gallery is good.

Great Venue
A nice spot with outdoor seating. Friendly staff and a nice cup of tea and cakes. But no Norwegian food? They have a revised menu with almost all the breakfast food (apart from toast) cut out. Could be great, and maybe for lunch it's nice, but as it stands it's a bit mediocre.
Place of calm. Lovely cup of coffee. They catered for milk free cheese toasty take away. Everyone very helpful.
