Reviews of Hunterian Museum
M. W.
Not a huge museum but well laid out and presented. Access is good for wheelchairs via a lift, and there are accessible toilets on a lower floor.
It has a small, but good Roman section and some fascinating collection, from Egyptian mummy's to insects and dinosaurs.
There is an upstairs gallery which there is a lift too, you'll enjoy this if you have an interest medical science or engineering.
I wouldn't drive to Glasgow just to go, but its a nice place to visit as part of a day out.

Great wee museum with a variety of items. Sometimes student guides do a little tour which is really interesting. The building alone is absolutely breathtaking!

A good visit to Glasgow University topped with good modern electric, archeology, medicine museum. Well worth anyone with decent interest to visit.

It's interesting, but it didn't inspire me much. The museum is primarily focused on the pieces collected by Hunter. There are impressive Roman ruins in the archeology section, including the ancient wall north of Glasgow. For free.

Superb private collection of William Hunter presented in the glorious architecture of a purpose-built museum within Glasgow University. Fascinating historical evidence, medical samples, geological objects, entertaining curiosities.
(The museum is not to be confused with the neighbouring Hunterian Art Gallery that includes the Mackintosh House...some review photos are incorrectly attributed.)

A fine collection of Roman inscriptions. Several annotations of Hadrian's exploits. Practice your Latin. A few casts. Interesting medical contributions especially regarding child bearing and the hazards involved in previous centuries.
Absolutely must be visited.

The pathology collection is the highlight in my opinion, better than even some college classroom demo jars, very unique. Learn what a thrombosis and gall stone actually look like, for example…The rest you can see at other places. Cost is free.

The Mackintosh house reconstruction was interesting, not my cups tea but fascinating design and expertly presented. The art collection in the museum was well worth the stop, unfortunately a large portion of the collection was not on display. Thank you Mr Hunter for sharing your collection.
M.
Very interesting and well-maintained museum, about the William Hunter collection.
E. C.
It had a large amount of variety and detail in the exhibits. Despite it's relatively small size, there was enough to keep me there for hours. Nightmare fuel is on the top floor - you have been warned.

Visited Mary Queen of Scots exhibition. SUPERB.
S. P.
The University of Glasgow, historically, is 1 of the most important globally. Inter alia, Adam Smith, James Watt and Lord Kelvin are part of its inheritance. The museum has an especially excellent Kelvin exhibit.
E. W.
Fascinating and many friendly guides eager to give free tour.
Super atmosphere and stunning architecture. Free entry a bonus too

The university museum has an interesting collection of historical and scientific objects. Especially the natural history collection speaks to the imagination. The museum is housed in a very impressive building.

An amazing building to visit, the architecture is breathtaking... the museum is also very interesting
M. R.
Five stars if you have been visiting the evident bits of the Antonine wall. Maybe fewer if you are not interested enough to see where the Roman artefacts came from.
Liked the debate about slavery and the provenance of many of the other exhibits. On balance I would say leave on display as long as it is made clear of how the collectors/ persons being celebrated earned their wealth from exploiting and the death of others.

This museum has a bit of everything, fossils, gemstones, human organs, old Roman stones etc. I didn't really see a theme but the whole is interesting to browse through for an hour or so. It's also free, so why not...

We visited in the middle of graduation day, which made finding the museum more difficult, but it was definitely worth it. Very interesting, some unusual collections and some very helpful staff who directed us!

Free museum with a lot of interesting expositions, recommended with kids. It's take around 40 minutes to see it. A bit hide.

One of the best museums I have ever been to. The collection is diverse and descriptions are excellent.
B. M.
Fantastic, free museum that has lots of interesting things for a variety of interests (archeology, paleontology, zoology, science history, geology)
S. G.
An interesting museum with both interesting and peculiar objects.
It does seem to have been infected with a certain political agenda which is a shame for the neutral standing an organization such as this should have.
Z.
"Old school" museum with artifacts collected in the 19th century. Most interesting. And they acknowledge the history of exploitation of their collection.

Highlight of my three-day stay in Glasgow. Architecture of the building, collection, staff of the museum, history of science and engineering.... Way beyond my expectations..
Don't forget to check out the falcon family in the court yard (somewhere in the tree or the tower)

Museum direkt in der Universität. Es gibt viel zu sehen, die Anordnung ist etwas unübersichtlich, aber es gibt einige interessante Dinge zu entdecken wie z.B. Edelsteine, diverse versteinerte Tiere uvm.
