Reviews of Kilmartin Museum
Gorgeous place, tidy toilets. A few hiccups with the drinks, however this was rectified quickly. Unfortunately museum was closed due to covid, but nice area to sit
Great little museum with lots of artifacts outside. Nice area for hiking. The ladies in the bistro are probably the nicest I have ever met. Delicious tea & snacks.
I loved the serenity of Kilmartin and the fact that you could walk amongst tge standing stones and ruins. It was a fascinating and ancient place. You do need to walk on grass, but there is disabled acces.
Small rustic museum, but just packed with artefacts and descriptions of life in the adjacent valley from the ice age to the middle ages. Really fascinating to see what sorts of people lived there and how they subsisted through the ages. Mind blowing that rise and fall of sea levels affected local biology. Just outside and down into the valley, a stone age cairn you can visit. Wow, it took immense work to schlep those large stones from somewhere! If you're a curious type, museum is well worth a few quid admission.
Interesting but in need of a refresh. Some good things on display and worth seeing. Go round if you are doing the walk which is well worth the effort.
Historical place, nearby 5.500 years old tombs. Fantastic.
Unfortunately closed due to Covid. The cafe was open though and of course you can still visit Dunadd and Nether Largie. Standing stones don't close. Cafe was great with friendly staff. Always worth a visit to Kilmartin and the churchyard.
Fascinating walk around the cairns and museum. The smell of coffee and cake makes the cafe very tempting.
Interesting museum with hands-on activities (great for kids or adults!). Lovely café with good vegetarian options, fantastic scones, and great views from the conservatory part. Very friendly, helpful staff. Nice gift shop and free parking outside.
Didn't actually visit the museum at it was closed due to covid, but the coffee shop was open and staff are pleasant. The important thing to do when you visit the museum/cafe is BUY THEIR BOOK. It is excellent and full of information, maps and photographs of all the walks and things to visit in Kilmartin Glen. We used it slot for our week visit, and bought a second copy for a neighbour.
