Reviews of People's Palace
L. L.
Lovely building full of very interesting artefacts of Glasgow through the years. We enjoyed our visit very much.
Had a decent cup of coffee and a snack in the cafe area. The toilets were very poor. I understand its an old building but the toilet seats weren't even secured properly and the restrooms were not very clean. This is the reason I cannot give it 5 stars.
S. C.
It's a cool and calm place with lots of history about Glasgow. I found it really interesting and informative especially in getting to Glasgow better. I would recommend visiting if you find yourself in Glasgow.
M. G.
Free entry. Museum of Glasgow's history. Very informative and staff helpful and knowledgeable. Will go back again. Definitely worth a visit.
A.
A place to go back and revisiting the past. Here we will have the understanding of how people lived back then in Glasgow. Interesting display of information from housing, culture to drinking habits.
Y. K.
Little but beautiful museum. For anyone interested in Glasgow City’s history. Free entry. Top floor is closed for maintenance. Clean toilets. There is also a coffee shop. Huge grass fields outside.
J. F.
Great musuem with amazing views & a large green area outside. Located within a 1-2 min walk of the tour bus stop. Great location if you are visiting glasgow!
C. D.
Took my son for a look at some Glasgow Culture and he enjoyed it, especially when he got to pose with The Benny Lynch cut out 😁
Winter Gardens was closed, which is a shame, and shortens the visit👍
The fountain in front of the People's Palace is STUNNING and loads of greenery about to have a picnic or a wee rest
5 minutes walk away is an Adventure Playground with big slides and climbing, there's also another park next it for smaller children
S. A.
Enjoyed visiting People’s Palace. Lots to see & learn about Scotland’s largest city. Needs to be seen when in Glasgow!
S. P.
The surrounding of the People's Palace is green and beautiful. Not very big but nicely arranged museum. No entry fees. The artifacts are very well preserved.
L. W.
Very easy walk from George Street where I was staying, clear regular signage along the route
It was closed so not able to review the interior of the Palace
The grounds are OK but the resounding feature is the fountain.
Will return when it's fully open
L. A.
A free museum with exhibits about the area - the architecture of the building is lovely and the exhibits are interesting enough, if you're into local history. There's a small café on the ground floor with limited options and a nice view of the Glasgow Green if you go up the west staircase. It looks like they're doing work on the large conservatory attached to the back, so hopefully that will be open to the public in the near future.
T. W.
It's good, but shame the glasshouse section has been closed for years. Used to like to come down here when I lived nearby and walk round the gardens if it was cold or rainy. However on the plus side the Doulton fountain outside was actually operational for a change.
A. A.
People’s Palace is nicely with the Glasgow Green. A lovely architecture and heritage. Lovely place to bring the family, the children would love it. It’s a free entry but currently temporarily closed due to the COVID restrictions.
Easily accessible for wheelchair 🦼.
E. M.
I used to love the People's Palace and I take my kids to give them that experience too but our last visit was a little boring because nothing has changed in years besides the top floor. It is a great place to visit if you're new to Glasgow and looking to find out a bit of culture. But I'd hazard a guess that some of the statistics are out of date and it would be great to see some more modern culture thrown in there too. Another couple of downers were the broken equipment and the gardens being closed. The museum does rely on donations and is undergoing a refresh so please give generously if you can when you visit.
D. K.
Amazing.
Great history of life in Glasgow, notable periods and ancient practices.
M.
Nice museum, rich history and pretty well explained.
M. A. B.
Highly recommend this awesome museum. Fantastic way to learn the history of our descendants a pic of a tenement room for a family
L. G.
A great place too visit for old Glasgow memories... Very friendly staff and a lovely wee coffee shop inside the building.. 😁...and lovely park too walk round.. 🚶♀️🚶♀️
A. M. M.
Walk through the past with some people living with dementia it was educational what memories it brought back. This place caters for everyone. Teaching young people and children how hard life was and how well it was lived. Tea room swing park fountain fantastic all-rounder for all ages.
S. P.
A museum of Glasgow's social history. Somewhat incoherently curated. I wanted to view the Art of Ken Currie but alas it was not therein. It is disappointingly usual for Glasgow City museums and galleries Not to have on show as advertised. The staff are welcoming and charming.
C. F.
A very interesting social history museum in a beautiful building surrounded by beautiful park. Well worth a visit. Admission is free but donations are encouraged . Also very reasonable priced cafe on site.
S. S.
Really loved it , had peek into history of Glasgow. I really enjoyed the WW2 description, Alcohol addiction among people in early 1900. Overall a great experience. Bonus: It has free entry.
S. K.
Nice little museum detailing Glaswegian life. I enjoyed it more after having lived in Glasgow for a while. As many other museums around the city, it is free to enter and enjoy.
C. N.
Neat little place worth a quick visit if you are into war tidbits and Glasgow history.
S. R.
It's nice, but smaller than it looks and there are no more Winter Gardens. I'd love to see it have more funding and then it would be great! Staff were fantastic.
B. B.
Very interesting museum if you want to learn about Glasgows history. I enjoyed the war shelters and the dairy shop. 100% accessible and free of charge.
E. R.
Had a great time roaming round the displays. A great variety of topics covered. Very interesting. I would have given 5 stars were it not for the cafe. My plea is for cafes to serve meals and snacks that are suitable for diabetics i.e. not based on bread, pastry, dough or potatoes. Nothing to eat with my cup of tea and nothing for lunch (apart from a pre-pack tuna mayo salad). Come on - you can do better 😃
w. k.
Fabulous day out, the fountain working is an added bonus. Such rich Glasgow history and Free, my daughter was delighted to go round and see all the exhibits.
M. S.
Great museum, lots of history on Glasgow. Recommend it for a first time visitor to the area, it helps you understand the city and history for planning the rest of your visit.
M. B.
Great insight to Glasgows history, helpful and friendly staff
L. E.
People’s Palace is located in the lovely with the Glasgow Green. Impressive architecture and heritage. Lovely place to visit & discover more of Glasgow's history. Free entry too!
A. G.
Lovely architecture. Free entry. Nice place to bring family. Big grounds on the outside for picnic when the weather is nice and a lovely playground nearby. Lots of free street parking along the Museum. There’s a nice cafe in the winter garden. The display is great to introduce the little ones with some of the things we grew up with from the early 1960s-1990s.
L. D.
Very interesting collection of Glasgow life over the centuries
S. M.
Beautiful place, step back in time to good old days, pleasant staff great day out.
Billy connellys big banana boots
C. W.
This place really is the people's palace. It's a fantastic little museum with lots to take in, all of it presented clearly and with the visitor's needs taken into account. I saw a really fascinating photographic exhibition on my visit - it showed how much Glasgow has changed in its history.
D. L.
Great museum detailing the history of Glasgow and it's people - and like all of our museums, it's free! (Other cities could learn from that...) The winter gardens are also a lovely place to have a quick wander round. The viewing gallery with view of the green and the city is definitely worth a look too.
B. S.
I found the museum quite interesting. It has alot of information about Glasgow's history and Scotland. Sadly the Winter Garden was closed but was good to visit the museum. Some of the displays need a bit of work but overall a nice experience!
T. S.
Kind of a small museum but with great history behind it. Same some time to visit it as there as lots of interesting things there. The coffee is great in a comfortable and quiet garden indoors and you can still enjoy a green area around the museum. I wouldn't say it is a must-see, but it is worth the visit.
M. D.
Good place to learn the history of Glasgow. History seems to end pre 2000. Appreciate there is limited space.
E. B.
This free museum has many interesting displays about life in Glasgow over the years. The enclosed glass sunroom called the Winter Garden was closed for repairs, but I'm sure it will be beautiful once restored. On the grounds is the world's largest Terra gotta fountain.
B. M.
We loved this museum... So so interesting about Glasgow life!! And very beautiful. And the winter gardens r great too. We have taken visitors here and it's really a good spot. The cafe is nice too. Serves good sandwiches but the fish and chips smelt amazing when we were there on the weekend. Well worth a visit. Also has the biggest terracotta fountain in the world outside....
y. p.
The People’s Palace is set in historic Glasgow Green. It is home to a collection of objects, photographs, prints and film which give a unique view into how Glaswegians lived, worked and played in years gone by to the present day. Entry is free and attraction could be visited by Glasgow hop on hop off city sight seeing bus tour.
F. W.
A wonderful place to visit. There are so many gems of historical interest brought to life though the use of multi-media. The Winter Gardens have an incredible range of plant species and the cafe within the Winter Gardens serves tasty food at very reasonable prices. There is a bench and small bust of The Sensational Alex Harvey. Outside is the magnificent Terracotta Fountain. This venue must be kept open.
R. S.
Great place for a brisk walk in the area. Beautiful Surroundings and stunning buildings as well. Would Highly Recommend It.
A. S.
This is an interesting museum set in the middle of a wonderful park. It is a great place to take kids. Nice cafe and gift shop on site.
K. P.
What an amazing place. A walk through time. I visited with my dad and son. My dad was able to tell my son and I how hard life was growing up in the Gorbals. Through the hardship and poverty there was lots of fun growing up as a child. Peoples Palace is a reminder of the hard times but also the happy times. Would definitely recommend and will always return again and again.
A. L.
If you are visiting here expecting to wander round the greenhouse you will be disappointed. It's currently closed and needs a shed load of money spent on it. The museum is still open and is worth a visit to get an insight into the lives of ordinary Glaswegians especially those living in the east end. You can get here by taking the red sightseeing bus or a walk from city centre.
L. T.
Amazing place and hope it opens again soon. Glasgow has it all.Great architecture shops and friendliest of people.😍
d. c.
Great staff .sadly the top floor and winter Gardens are closed ..the top floor is due to open soon and money is being raised to give the building and the winter Gardens a much needed refurbishment. It will still be a good while till the once beautiful winter Gardens are open though. It has a very interesting collection on glasgows social history
G. L.
Was disappointed to find out that the Winter Gardens is closed for a while as that was why I wanted to come here in the first place! The actual museum is open, nice history of Glasgow and its people/culture, etc. Smallish museum. Free entry and easily accessible from city center or by bus (<10 mins walk from nearest bus station).
s. c.
Unique museum documents the all too easily forgotten SOCIAL HISTORY . Specialising on the ordinary working classes story , experiences and influences .
Provides an silence educational tool and archive for the young and old alike ( would be great for small school trips or social groups ) .
All held within a stunning High Victorian red sandstone building . Alas the Winter Gardens Glasgows is closed .
Check openings as it is closed when the Council rents out the park to festivals 😣
S. K.
Was pleasantly surprised by the exhibition about Glasgows history and people. Not Glasgows main attraction, but certainly worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood or have a couple of hours left in the city.
C. C.
Well-curated museum to dive deeper into how Glaswegians lived before modern day times. I found myself reading every caption and looking at every image there was. A great reminder of why Glasgow is the way it is. The greenhouse and the Cafe are a beautiful, serene plus!
M. M.
Lovely place to visit if you're a tourist. Beautiful area of glasgow
A. W.
The People's Palace in Glasgow Green is a museum exploring and celebrating people's lives throughout the City's long history. Set in a quirky building over 3 levels and with a herbaceous Winter Garden as an annex and also boasts an interesting fountain it gives a memorable sojourn through Glasgow life. It also has a cafe and gift shop and for the more energetic you can take a short walk through the park down to the river
S. C.
I enjoyed this place for its detailed social history of Glasgow covering the terrible housing conditions and significant contribution to the British empire through its industrial base. The layout is looking a little tired and at times the displays read like a council advert. Also the winter gardens is closed indefinitely following covid. Free entry. We caught a cab there as it's half an hour walk from the city centre.
c. c.
We took a bus tour round the city of Glasgow to see this wonderful places ,it's a beautiful terracotta with a lovely history attached
L. I.
My favorite place in Glasgow. The place has a museum with a lot of history knowledge to offer, a toilet, coffee and the bar with a few cakes, and a botanic garden. Peoples palace is the perfect place to visit with your family.
I. S. H.
Free entry 😊 Nice place to bring family 👍 Very nice details into the history of Glasgow 😍
A. M.
Visited the museum this morning with my two year old grandson. Before we got into the building two members of staff spoke to us on the outside steps, both were friendly and chatty and a real asset to the staff team. I'm sorry I didn't catch their names. One male one female. They are definitely in the job as made us feel very welcome.
k. m.
Great small museum, good to see all the memorabilia of old Glasgow. Definitely worth a visit, small tearoom, with friendly staff prices reasonable.
I. M.
One of the essentials, on any Glasgow visit.
This IS the People's Palace. The story and actual items, of every day Glasgow life, through the ages. From the Barrasford to the Green. The dance halls, the war, the tenement life. Here is is, scorched into the soul.
Fabulous.
d. m.
It was free and there a great cafe on ground floor. The exhibition was very good on the war . And there's a lot u can learn. Great for kids .
J. C.
Nice free museum, the winter garden was in maintenance and we couldn't visit it. A nice and quick way to learn a lot about this marvelous underrated city of Glasgow.
D. R.
People's palace is a great asset to the city. There's loads in it which shows you about life in Glasgow from years gone by. Our kids love it too. It is definitely missing the Winter Gardens at the moment, but here's hoping that it gets fixed and is open again in the near future.
c. d.
Fab museum of the history of Glasgow but beautiful winter garden let down by dirty cafe area. Gorgeous ceramic fountain outdoors.
C. Y.
One of the best museums I've been to, great diverse exhibits covering all aspects of Glaswegian life and history, as well as wonderful knowledgeable staff
C. A.
Thought this place was fantastic, better than Kelvingrove. As it says, the people's palace, lots of fantastic pictures and displays of Glasgow past and present.
K. P.
Super fun place. It wasn’t what I expected, which made it 100 times better. Kids would love this place, as there is an area on the second floor that has a pretend jail and other little things geared for kids. Lots of funny and interesting information. There is a cafe, but I didn’t go. The gardens area was like I was back in Florida; very nice. The gift shop had lots of great items to choose from.
D. B.
Good to reminise, shame the gardens have been left to waste away
A.
Nice display of plants. Nice cafe in the glass house. Interesting museum. Large terracotta fountain outside. Well worth a look.
S.
It was nice, but we enjoyed ourselves more in other parts of the park.
A. M.
Terrific and well worth a visit. The museum is very interesting and educational, even for the kids. Food served in the cafeteria is reasonably priced and of good quality. All staff are very helpful.
S. S.
Well! This was an unexpected surprise. After a significant walk from the Necropolis, I found myself on the green facing this pretty spectacular late Victorian looking glass plant-arium. Once in the museum, there was so much information about the working people, poor people, and war people. Really really culturally interesting. Oh, and they have some big yellow banana boots that some comedian wore - they are in a case and evidently pretty ...important. NOTE: They have a penny machine! Yay - always a bonus.
S. H.
Excellent and informative. Really impressed by education value of this museum, especially around life in the 20th century Scotland.
J. A.
Lovely overview of Glasgow through times and focusing on the lives of its inhabitants. The winter garden gives a peaceful refuge from the bustle outside. Cafe was quite mediocre tastewise, but the prices were very competitive.
R. A.
A short visit to the glass house where they kept tropical trees and plant! Pretty cool!
There is a small museum attached to it worth to visit!
Learnt something a little more about Glasgow!
G. H.
A treasure trove of Glasgow History. From the 'Big Yin's' banana boots to wartime exhibits. Something for everyone to see. The staff are a credit to Glasgow, warm friendly and very knowledgeable, their passion for the palace and Glasgow is to be admired. Lovely wee cafe good selection a great stop off. Unfortunately the wintergarden was closed on this visit, just means we need to go back again 😁
Don't forget as with all Glasgow's museums entry is FREE !!
Set in Glasgow Green there is plenty for all ages to do in this large green space.
Access for all levels, lifts and ramps.
DEFINITELY WORTH A VISIT!
M. C.
Interesting exhibits inside, magnificent fountain outside, well worth a visit, shame the summer Palace closed.
R. V.
Good to know Glasgow history and the lives of people in the war time. I recommend everybody to visit there once you land in Glasgow to have a picture of how Glasgow looked like over years.
J. M.
Nice little museum to learn a out the history of Glaswegians, or people of Glasgow. They even have some interactive exhibits for kids. Toilets and lift/elevator available as well. Admission is free though they accept donations. On site gift shop and small Cafe as well.
S. P.
Nice place to visit with friends and kids if you are planning to learn about the way of life in Glasgow.
A. G.
Great engaging exhibit. You can see everything in under an hour but well wortha trip.
G.
Really nice place to see, the fountain is very interesting too. If there's the sun is even better because you can enjoy a nice sunset.
m. y.
Beautiful building, very interesting. And to top it off..... Billy Connollys Big Banana boots. Well worth visiting. Fingers crossed they manage to raise enough money to reopen the Winter Garden! Really would be a shame if this was lost.
E. W.
The People's Palace is brilliant. So much to see and learn about. It's great to be able to look back and hear from people growing up in the city. Just a shame the Glass House is no longer open. That was a fantastic place. A real loss that it's gone.
T. M.
A real hidden gem in the middle of the Green , a stately red brick manor house that contains some excellent and thought provoking exhibitions and then a small Winter garden full of tropical plants with a busy cafe to supplement the hunger pangs after an hour or 2 wandering about. Our visit coincided with the Billy Connelly mural exhibition so was a must see as was the the areas that showed Glasgow in the past including the Barrowlands . the execution cell and the tenements which were very interesting and well laid out. The terracotta fountain outside just adds to the appeal of the place.
g. p.
nice museum, not a large museum but pretty decent 👍🏻
K. m.
Amazing for the different kinds of flowers and the museum lovely quiet wee relaxing place to stop by.
E. a.
Free entry. Part closed due to conservation work.
h. r.
Its been upgraded since I was last there still very informative about Glasgow life and culture enjoyed it very much and a nice walk by the river
J. F.
Great little museum with plenty of history about Glasgow. History goes from civilian to military and culture changes within the different time periods.
S. B.
Fantastic - really interestimg and educational. I would highly recommend this place. Was upsetting reading about slavery but something we should be aware of. Also loved the winter garden.
S. T.
Love this place, great drink and food but book ahead as it gets busy!
A. G.
A great place for the whole family, nice cafe and lots to do in the surrounding Glasgow Green too.
P. C.
Walked to Glasgow Green with hubby. Glasgow Green is the oldest public space in Glasgow. We met three big sized horses on our way to People's Palace. One of the horses came willingly to our direction to take pic with hubby. It went away when it's my turn to take pic with it *scared away by the excited kids that scream and poke*
People's Palace sounds great to me and it has become a museum nowadays. Oh ya, all the museums in Glasgow are free entry (meaning that I will be very hardworking exploring the museums that I can go on foot). Haha.
Walking back home and saw this cute dog. *give me money not pamplets* (-.-")
C. B.
This was a flying visit, hadn't been for years, but the building is still impressive. History of Glasgow, especially the prison bit is very interesting. Bought a couple of things in the shop, quite expensive Mackintosh stuff. 😕definitely worth a visit.
S. B.
Great place. Free entry too. Nice easy to spend an hour. Very informative
A. B.
Crammed with interesting memorabilia and interactive screens for the children. Lovely café with reasonable prices.
J. B.
Interesting museum of how Glasgow people lived when it was a crowded city with much poverty in as late as 1920. Amazing glasshouse on one side filled with plants now closed since circa 2019.
Aug 2019: The Cafe is open again. Yay 😀
J. M.
Although the winter garden is closed but the palace is open and remains a great day out for families. The cafe has moved into the gift shop and still the best empire biscuits I've had.
R. H.
A lovely place to visit and has a lot about Glasgow in the past canteen great staff always helpful
L. A.
So good to see the Pally open again. It is not fully open yet, just the lower rooms, with a new bright, light cafe where the shop used to be, and the upper floor. Those spaces are packed with modern history gems from Billy's banana boots to a mini-steamy, Anderson shelter, jail and Doon the water picture op.
R. S.
The top floor was closed. We had no idea that the greenhouse in the back closed in 2018, and that was a main draw for us. The other floors of the palace were fun, but not much to see. Worth the stop with the park surrounding it.
G. G.
Nice place but it is under remodeling at the moment so a lot of areas are closed. I still recomment you ti get in just to observe the building and open expositions
A. F.
Free admission, great place to spend a couple hours. Garden is nice as is the museum. A lot of history about the city, it's beginnings, challenges, and what the people of the city have been through.
J. F.
Wonderful museum showing the typical life of Glaswegians . Entrance is free, but unfortunately the glasshouse is closed. Well worth the visit.
D. B.
The museum remains open but the 'Winter Garden' is currently closed due to structural problems. Glass has fallen & they are worried that more could. I understand they plan to undertake a full condition survey of the structure and glazing shortly pursuant to obtaining funding and appointing a contractor to complete full structural refurbishment.
M. Ż.
Very interesting local museum located in beautiful building. Unfortunately winter gardens were still closed due to pandemic.
M. P.
A superb museum, interesting exhibits, particularly on immigration and housing in Glasgow.
G. B.
Great wee hour exploring and enjoyed by the kids. Friendly and informative staff.
R. N. W.

what a great space. quite busy but still found a quiet space to read with a coffee. lots of history to discover.
C. C.
We really enjoyed this museum, spending about half a day looking around. It's a really interesting building, telling you a lot about Glasgow's history. Good and well-cared-for displays and an excellent shop. The huge conservatory, with botanic garden displays and a cafe was a highlight. Family-friendly.
M. L.
Great museum, good way to pass some time in Glasgow.
L. F.
Good place but the garden is close and will stay close till 2023 if I’m not wrong !
Could be nice to report it because I went there only for this garden.
L. D.
Hadn't been for ages, lovely lunch then a wander around, fabulous wee place, family friendly, wheelchair friendly, lovely for a wee day out.
H. S.
wasn't an actual palace which is good because I do not care for royals. a great museum for all the family, learnt a lot and had fun too
J. W.
My favourite Glasgow museum, I love it. Can't wait till it's fully opened again!
L. B.
Extremely attentive staff. Brilliant afternoon visit
T. H.
captures much of Glasgows history - a gem of research
D. P.
An interesting place to visit in a nice riverside location on Glasgow Green.
I've seen the nicely mixed exhibits several times now but I still find them interesting. And there are temporary exhibitions that change. When I was there it was displaying black and white photography taken by camera club members in 1955.
It was a pity that the winter gardens were closed when we visited.
Lots of the exhibits are child-friendly; and it's quite a small museum so good for families for an hour or two. And if you do bring children there are two playparks nearby (one for younger children, one for older ones) a couple of minutes walk away.
It's free to enter, donations are welcomed.
B. D.
Nice little museum upstairs with an amazing botanic garden downstairs!
N. G.
Nice museum, shows the culture and history of Glasgow. I liked it. Although it is small, there's much to be seen. But it won't take up an entire day. Worth visiting. Shows mainly the history with alcohol, dancing, and housing issues. Very thought-provoking.

This is a very good museum about the people of Glasgow, and the struggles of the poor. I really like this museum. There is a beautiful winter garden out back with palm trees and lots of lovely plants. There is a cage, but you can also bring your own lunch as there are sitting areas and tables for all. Very friendly place. Clean restrooms, a little cafe too. We did not eat here but the cage looks nice, basic coffee and sandwiches. There is an elevator and I saw a few people in wheelchairs and walkers, so it's very accessible for all I believe. Also, this is the warmest place we have been while here in Glasgow during a cold spell. The winter garden is so very lovely. The gentleman at the door is so kind, pointed out the old carpet factory across the street which has a German brewery where you can get a pint and some food. He was so welcoming and nice to talk to. Glasgow folks are so kind.
J. W.
It's always interesting to see how people of a bygone era lived and worked, and the People's Palace is a great snapshot of exactly this, but in the industrial era. The museum has an easily palatable and engaging exhibit on life as it was for the good people of Scotland only a few generations ago. The museum is good for almost all ages, and has a few hours worth of quality entertainment.
Additionally, the MASSIVE greenhouse is extremely impressive, and now I have to talk my significant other out of building one of equal grandeur. If you have an hour or two to kill, you won't regret doing it here.
D. B.
Brilliant place to visit, so many interesting things to see. Beautiful indoor gardens where you can sit and enjoy your coffee. The shop is packed with souvenirs and very interesting books(My favourite). Located not far from city centre and is one of the stops on the city tour bus...highly recommend!
B. T.
History of Glascow. We spent about an hour. Some of it was very interesting.
P. P.
Really interesting and historically significant place to visit,i would highly recommend it as a must see place if you ever go to Glasgow.Staff very helpful, particular mention to Eamon, who also remembered us from Kelvinhall ( which we had visited 2 days prior )and Tam,2 lovely, friendly and helpful guys.
O. A.
Nice building and also nice from inside when opened again!
J. B.
Great place for free and good intresting facts about glasgow
P. '.
The best museum in Glasgow! I absolutely loved it! The staff is super nice so feel free to ask for anything. There's a great coffee shop inside so if you need a good cup of tea to beat the cold you're served!
Easy to get there, it's set right in the middle of the park. Totally worth the visit. Ok for family, kids can learn a great deal!
Recommend it, absolutely!
R. K.
Had a great time playing at a Christmas Concert in the soon to be refurbished Winter Gardens on the 23rd Dec with the Dunbartonshire Concert Band.
A. M.
Better with the winter gardens but actually went twice recently in a matter of days and kids enjoyed it.
C. B.
Very interesting and the staff was very friendly
I.
Interesting space. The museum has some interesting information on the history of Glasgow - the newer displays are quite good, there are some older ones too which are not too great. The indoor garden is beautiful! No lockers/cloakroom though - was quite uncomfortable carrying my large bag around.
L. H.
I really like the Winter Gardens which not only give a great backdrop when in the cafe but are great to walk around (not huge but a nice feel and lots of different plants). Cafe seating is well spread out with plenty of space which is nice. All reasonably priced. A visit to Glasgow Green would not be complete without a visit to the cafe and winter gardens
K. D.
Lovely surroundings and nice walks around the park. The Palace itself is closed at the moment to the public. It is having some structural repairs done, till further notice. Check before travelling there.
D. F.
Interesting local museum. Very helpful and polite staff.
m. b.
Worth the effort and follow the time line and growth of Glasgow
R. B.
Great day out. Very peaceful place to have coffee. Relax in the glasshouse.
I. C.
A fantastic place for Glaswegians and visitors alike to get a flavour of Glasgow's past.
Like the title suggests the museum is dedicated to the people of Glasgow and houses some excellent exhibits of the city's social history. One of most poignant being the recreating of an old Glasgow tenement room.
It also houses Billy Connolly's big banana boots which have become a city treasure along side installations of Jimmy Reid and others.
The museum itself is surrounded by Glasgow Green which is a good place to while away a summer afternoon.
It also houses a large glass house to the rear but, sadly, this is closed at the moment for renovation which everyone in Glasgow hopes goes ahead as it was a great place to sit and have a coffee amongst the exotic plants.
J. B.
Worth a visit very interesting history of Glasgow good exhibits also pleasant and reasonable cafe. What a disgrace this useless Sturgeon excuse for a council have let it go to ruin absolute wasters should be ashamed of themselves but being politicians it will no doubt be the public's fault.
M. T.
Lovely palace
b. c.
Lots of items missing due to flooding but still very interesting
E. M.
We manage to go the last day the conservatory was open. It was basically our backyard in Australia. Lots of Australian plants. We did a bit of exploring around the inside, lots to see and plenty of history of Glasgow. The café was closed at the time. Give yourself an hour to have a wonder. Amazing terracotta fountain outside, largest in the world apparently. just check operating times and any closures, as the poor thing is getting renovated. great place to visit
A. E.
Nice wee display of Glasgow's history. Will be even better when the winter garden opens back up.
M. S.
Great history of a Glasgow with a few very in depth exhibits. Only problem I have is that it feels like it needs updating - the music section stops in the mid 1990s and misses a large new movement.
Winter Gardens are lovely and fascinating.
A. S.
Fantastic day out cant recommend it enough .
M. Q.
The place is nothing short of amazing. The building is beautiful. The range of art and history in this place is wonderful. You could easily spend two days in here and still not enjoy all it has to offer. The only down point is the cafe is currently under refurbishment and there is only a small temporary one on offer. At the moment it has a recreation of a diplodoccus in the main foyer, it only on tour so catch it while you can.
K. L.
Has been on my to do list a while and today was the day. Not disappointed. Lovely building, great exhibition. Really great to show the kids the ' single end' among other things from days gone by. Loved the history of the palace itself donated to the people of Glasgow ' for ever and ever'. Guy at the door was so welcoming as was the guy in the shop. Great personalities. Can't say much about the cafe. It's a great setting but definitely poorly organised. Small queue yet took an age to serve each customer. Did feel a time and motion study could fix that Almost gave up but could see the soup looked lovely - and it was. Would've liked a kids portion size of soup for young kids but not available. Shame. I will return to the palace as lots of bits n pieces of interest still to read. On a sunny day there is a fabulous play park near the entrance that would be a great stop for the kids. Please leave a like.
K. M.
Such a great place to go for a family day out. They need to update the exhibition, i think that's what there doing next year. But i can't fault the place it's a great old building and you have to see the fountain, full of imperial history and it's simply amazing and the tallest terracotta fountain in the world.
V. K.
Interesting place. Absolutely worth a visit
B. J.
A nice place to visit. It was closed due to renovation work.
G. B.
Same as last time 10 year ago except glasshouse shut. At least it's free
M. A.
I really liked this museum. Here you can discover a lot of interesting things about Glasgow culture and life.
There are old clothes, part of jail and olso an hold home.. very nice!
C. R.
What a beautiful building and glasshouse - well worth a visit.
The cafe was good too.
The three original artwork portraits of Billy Connoly are there and are great - worth the short walks to see the resulting murals too!
A real treasure - Glasgow, you should proud!
R. M.
You can still get a coffee and food here
J. H.
The garden space is very beautiful and the café is decent, they make their sandwiches fresh and serve with a good side salad. The exhibits in the museum were interesting but also pretty tired, they could really do with refreshing but it looked like this was a work in progress already in some areas.
A. H.
This is one of the best places to visit in Glasgow for visitors and locals alike. Great social history exhibits and great fun too. Right beside are the winter gardens, Glasgow Green, the river Clyde, Templetons Carpet Factory building - marvellous, West Brewery and restaurant. All this within a few minutes walk of all the facilities the centre of Glasgow has to offer. What's not to like?
R. M.
Really interesting museum we enjoyed our visit. There was a cafe but we did not use it as it was really busy. The glass house was closed and hopefully they will be able to repair the roof as I would like to go back again to visit again soon.
J. M.
Loads to look at, great souvenirs and the man behind the counter was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable
U. V.
Superb place
R. P.
Full of great exhibits from The early Glasgow right up until modern Glasgow.
Good range of stories virtual audio and staff on hand to answer any questions.
Its free but you can make a small donation that helps to maintain current exhibits and bring in more....
Well worth a visit and onky 10 minute walk from city centre
T. B.
Have been here before but not at the Museum which was very good seen Benny Lynch's World belt and Trophies very sad end to this very good boxer a true legend.
H. C.
We visited because the nearby barras market turned out to be garbage. This was a short walk away and we were pleasantly surprised.
There is a greenhouse at the back with a very mini botanical gardens if you're into that. The cafe is very poorly placed as you have to walk through the middle of it to reach the garden area. We didn't use the cafe do can't comment on the quality of that.
The rest of the museum was great though. Free entry and there was a gentleman by the door who gave us a quick rundown of where everything was and a recommended order. Very nice guy. We argued amongst ourselves which way we should go and then decided to take the route he advised.
There was a woman doing a tour guide for a few other guys which was rather annoying but did give us some extra info and save us reading some of the many texts.
It's a museum for stuff from maybe the past 100 years. My favourite part was the prison and the view in the balcony out to the garden. Until that tour guide woman came along and stood in my personal space whilst talking to the guys she was with. Made me feel so uncomfortable and I had to cut my view short. Not really the museum's fault but this is the reason it's not getting its 5 star rating.
Oh and the fountain outside is awesome!
J. M.
Bit disappointed. Hadn't been for a long time . Not as I remembered it .
M. H.
Great insight into life in Glasgow at different times
A. H.
This in one of our favourite museums as it covers the rich social history of Glasgow from its music, industrial heritage am even its quasi religious position.
It is a great place, the only problem is the winter gardens behind which if closed will close the museum too as that os the fire escape for the museum.
J. K.
I don't know why some people didn't like it because I thought it was wonderful! It's really the first time I saw a social museum and it's so refreshing to see. It talk about the Glaswegian people during different stages in history like in the World Wars, the socioeconomic development, sanitation, rights. It is so interesting to see the history of a place in terms of the people and you don't get museums like this most of the time. Definitely consider visiting!
D. W.
Lovely, well kept museum. Small so it won’t take up a huge portion of the day leaving you more exploring time in Glasgow. A shame the winter gardens weren’t open
L. S.
A unique astonishing place .must be reopened. is our cultural heritage and history. do not deprive it from the world! established from 1750 to the present day.
C. M.
A great wee afternoon out. Always an enjoyable experience and my granddaughter loves visiting as much as I do. Not only educational but a fascinating insight of how are grandparents used to live. It brings history alive.
J. H.
Lovely place to visit. Allow a few hours to browse through the history and development of Glasgow,, their wealthy merchants and incoming workers from all over Scotland. Lots of interesting information and and artefacts. And it's free! 😊
W. B.
I love the People's Palace. I always take visitors here. A wee botanical gardens with a cafe downstairs. Go upstairs and you have the history of Glasgow. Everything from an ancient jail to Billy Connolly's banana boots 😂. There's A booth made into an old Glesga home, showing how it used to be. A few interactive things for kids. My daughter used to love coming here as a kid. Always recommend a visit. It's free with donations, please give what you can. ❤
M. M.
We had a great time, kids loved how interactive it was. Great wee place
g. p.
I'm a local and love the place once the winter garden are back up and running it will be to its magnificent best. Shame on Glasgow City council if that doesn't happen. The park deserves to be maintained as a jewel near our city centre
B. M.
A tremendous place to visit whether you are from Glasgow or a visitor to the city. Covers the social history of its citizens over the last 200 years. Unfortunately it will be closed until at least March 2019.
Opens today 5 April with a new cafe, shop, photography exhibition on life in 1955 AND most importantly a new fire exit.
A.
It was great to be back and l am really looking forward to seeing the rest of it finished
J. D.
the museum lacks a bit in terms of detail and interest but the gardens were lovely in the greenhouse
I. H.
Really good must visit
S.
At the people's palace there is a small museum about the lives of people in Glasgow and a winter garden, a large green house with many plants you would not expect to see in Scotland. The Winter Garden is very nice to spend some time walking around. The food sold in the cafe is very good and there is a wide range of options available.
M. M.
A tour in here wont take long, small museum talking about Glasgow's people, with beautiful glasshouse
W.
Sweet, small, historical. The place is inside a big glass dome with a lot of tropical trees. A nice warm place especially in the autumn and winter time. The old Museum Part upstairs throws you back in time with a lot of old artefacts from 50-100 years ago.
C. S.
Free admission and a great garden. Small exhibition on the history of Glasgow.
J. R.
Interesting place and well worth a visit. An eclectic collection including Billy Connolly's banana boots! Lots of information about Scotland's history too. Little gift shop downstairs and a fab conservatory for coffee.
S. g.
This place is worth a visit, it's very interesting to look at how Glasgow has changed and evolved over the years. Great for all age groups. Never got time to see all of the place, looks like part is under construction?, it is worth a visit.
J.
Well worth a visit and free !
C. S.
Great exhibition of the social history of Glasgow
b. c.
Fascinating insight into Glasgow through the ages
M. E.
Wonderful Museum of old Glasgow and livi g conditions. Really good glasshouse with a range of plants. Coffee bar, friendly, usual fare. Very sad that there is a threat to it's future, it must not be allowed to be closed down!!!😃🚴♂️🛐🛐
G. M.
The site was being prepared for a pop concert, so we didn't get the full advantage of the area. The greenhouse of plants was fascinating, but we weren't as impressed with the history of Glasgow exhibition. It seemed to lack a timeline of the history as the displays were a bit random.
A. G.
I have been there a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed my visits each time.
My Grandfather used to go there on a regular basis in his later years and find peace and good karma in his last years.
My father's side of the family were from the Gorbals, and I lived there briefly when I was a small boy. Fab place to visit even now.
O. H.
Very beautiful grounds in front of the palace, all clean and green, fresh air, very impressive fountain!
G. B.
Disappointing. Top floor shut, winter gardens, shut. Terracotta fountain worth a look!
L. T.
Very informative learning of the social and political history of Glasgow. Interesting displays and the Wintergarden was lush but very hot and humid today in the heat of summer. We chose not to have refreshments at the cafe as it was so hot.
c. d.
What a lovely day out with the care home absolutely roasting here in Glasgow green.
D. B.
Fantastic place. One of the many gems of poor, underrated Glasgow. Fantastic Glass houses, and beautiful park. Really interesting. I'm from London, but have really taken this place to heart. Only Pembrokeshire in Wales is better.
G. W.
Spent an enjoyable morning exploring here followed by a great coffee in the cafe.
J. K.
Not as much in it as i thought. Nice cafe area in a tropical glasshouse . Impressive building and grounds .
B. W.
Cool place to stop and visit. Nothing happening the day we were there so just a look around.
D. H.
Enjoyed my visit. The cafe was okay too.
C. A.
Glasgow has become one of the finest cities in the United Kingdom and a European City of Culture. To understand the true history of Glasgow and it’s people, one must visit The People’s Palace. A visit to this attraction, will provide you with a snapshot of just how far this incredible city and it’s people have come over the years and the hardship people endured, often in poverty, but their resilience lives on and continues to grow. Worth the visit.
A. M.
Pass through the building, and enjoy a very clean and fresh beautiful garden and park.
P. B.
This is a very family friendly museum, with three staired levels (it does have a lift) each floor has different types of historical information and interactive features for the younger children. There is a winter garden at the rear of the building which is a giant greenhouse with a café and shop. Two hours of free parking is less than a five minute walk.
T. B.
People Palace one best museums in Glasgow. learn the history of the city great local culture to bee seen in museum. also a cafe and winter gardens and tourist gift shop. The Glasgow bus tour stops at side of the main building. the museum is free entry check with main website opening hours.
J. O.
Beautifully guides you through the social history of Glasgow. Best of all the Palace relies on donations not entrance fees.
Good gift shop, reasonably priced. Same goes for the coffee shop.
h. r.
Interesting museum! Tells the history of Glasgow and how people lived through the housing crisis, crimes, and alcoholism. Definitely worth a visit. Also has a beautiful fountain outside.
L.
Love Glasgow culture. Nothing like it anywhere in the world.
A. S.
A nice place to relax in on a rainy day. The cafe serves nice coffee and snacks. Some beautiful and rare plants.
Accessible toilets have baby changing facilities.
R.
Second best museum in Glasgow behind Kelvingrove. A really lovely look at the history of Glasgow and the people who made it. Often has great local exhibitions on too. Enjoy a bite to eat in the awesome botanical gardens after your trip round. Make sure to check out the terracotta fountain outside that celebrates the British empire. Bit in pc in bits nowadays world but nice to see a living piece of history.
J. M. C. R.
Lovely exhibits of anything related to Glasgow since the beginning of times !!! Unmissable for any Glaswegian and highly interesting for any curious visitor
S. H. A. S.
Excellent visit and old history
J. J.
I was at an event in the green with samh. And went to toilet. I had my dog, but I wasn't allowed in with her. A kind member of staff Diane offered to watch her. She was very nice, I think she deserves a pay rise for being so customer friendly
A. M. D.
Very interesting and thouģtful place. Only downside for me was seeing the beautiful oil painting behind a glass frame. Why not take it from behind the glass and put a roped public barrier there instead? Fabulous painting of the fair on Glasgow Green!
D. N.
History of Glasgow is told here, but there seems to be very little said about before Victorian times. Very good on working class roots and movements. With great paintings, posters and pictures. Out back is the Winter Garden, in a big glasshouse with café.
S. A.
I love visiting the people's palace. A great way to look back at the history of Glasgow. I've been loads of times and still finding really interesting stuff all the time. Looking forward to my next visit.🆒
S. M.
Excellent exhibition to get a real feel for what Glasgow was like to live in 1800s up until now. Lovely big greenhouse at the back with a lovely cafe to 'chew the fat'. Great for kids
G. H.
Fabulous building and lots of interesting facts within the museum. Surely, Glasgow City Council will not allow this much loved place to close down in 2019 due to necessary repair works.
M. F.
Next in line for an overhaul. A wonderful history of Glasgow but the presentation looks tired and the journey feels disjointed and often random. The winter gardens have reopened which provide a relaxing atmosphere even on the dreichest day. There is little for young children beyond a battered old puzzle game. Shop had a nice selection of tasteful memorablia and related art items.
M. S.
Visited ThePeoplesPalace while attending World Pipe Band Championship. Didn't take tour however the grounds are great. Mobility issues catered fir. Coffee shop within main foyer with beautiful green plants. Staff very pleasant.
I. P.
Lovely setting on Glasgow Green. Plenty of interesting exhibits and things to see, brilliant interactive trade union history timeline. Great cafe too within the Winter Gardens
B. C.
Me and my grandchildren love this place
B. H.
This place is good. It's dug friendly. There is free parking. The staff were friendly and the food was good. The area is a bit rough round the edges, but that does not bother me. Good solid place for a tasty meal. Although not doing anything ground breaking-ly new it is certainly worth a look.
G. C.
To my shame this was my first visit ever. Park was shut off due to concert, but still interesting visit seeing what glasgow was like in the past.and a beautiful fountain outside. But beware the tearoom as it can be costly (eg: small bottle of coke £1:50).
S. F.
I've always loved the peoples palace. If You are interested to hear about Glasgow through the years and how it evolved to the place it is today then it is well worth a visit. Very interesting to both visitors and natives of Glasgow
A. P.
The museum itself is probably more interesting for the Glaswegians, but it's free, it's a beautiful building, the Doulton Fountain outside is beautiful and a walk around the surrounding Glasgow Green is a must.
J. C.
Historic museum of the history of glasgow,in need of investment and overhaul, has so much to offer in respect of seeing and getting to know about the old glasgow!!
S. M.
Enjoyed learning about Glasgow's history through the years at the museum in People's palace. The winter garden could be a nice place to be during colder months. The terracotta fountain in front of the building is a magnificent example of victorian art and design!
M.
A social history of Glasgow in a lovely building! Free parking and admission further add to a great city attraction. The permanent exhibition pieces are interesting and moving - the experience of those living in poverty was detailed and powerful! As a sassernach you learn how Glasgow Green is right in the historic heart of the city.
G. E.
Small and compact though it may be, it crams a lot of Glasgow history into one place. I can't help but feel that Glaswegians will gain the most from this museum. Older locals will very likely be transported back to times they remember as a youth, younger visitors can marvel at how their city has progressed. Visitors from beyond Glasgow will get a compact story of Glasgow life, thorns and all. It's not a fancy, fairytale history lesson, it's rooted in reality and all the better for it. The winter gardens helps bring you back to the present and is a relaxing way to finish off your tour. It doesn't cost anything to visit, like so many Glasgow attractions, and you can enjoy a stroll around Glasgow Green afterwards.
M. Z.
Lovely place for a hang out, finding out about the history of Glasgow's citizens. You can buy a coffee and chill out on the bench in the winter garden with a book. Providing you don't mind children running around.
J.
We had a quite pleasant lunch in The Peoples Palace Restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon in August.
Soup and a sandwich which was both delicious and plentiful and reasonably priced.
My only negative comment is they could do with more restaurant staff as there was quite a queue.
N. M.
Somewhat small, but reasonably detailed. Free with optional donation which is great. Contains interesting sights into the lives of Glaswegians back in the day. Certainly learned some things.
M. H.
Exactly what it says, a museum of the people, mostly from early 20th Century. Many photos, much history of the beginnings of the union movement, examples of old properties, washing "machines" etc. Info on executions and gaol, handcuffs and punishment. Also some contemporary art. Nice café area downstairs and large plant conservatory. Well worth a visit.
M. C.
Return Visit
I first came to the peoples palace back in 1992 with my primary school to see the ww2 section. so today i returned with my mum who had never been to the museum. what a fantastic place!!! the exhibits are brilliant especially the Duke Street Prison section, crime and punishment sections are excellent, especially for my mum who is ex-police and had heard about the Duke Street Prison through her colleagues. some of whom had previously worked for City of Glasgow Police force. overall definately worth the walk from the city centre. Staff are so helpful
S. G.
Free, interesting and inclusive. Minor logistical point is access and would have been better planned nearer the city centre entrance to the park. However, probably worth the short walk, and some amenties near the centre of the park itself would be welcomed. Victorian marble fountain outside is a marvel.
N. W.
Interesting little place if you have a bit of time to spare. A bit out of the way but a nice walk from the centre if you have a mind to. Lots of interesting facts and stories of the people of Glasgow over the years.
M. D.
The council must get their finger out and get this beautiful building restored to its former glory.
J. H.
A local-history museum, aimed mainly at kids from perhaps 8-13, but with enough to justify the entry price (free) for adults if you're in the area.
The Winter Garden (glasshouse) contains a wide range of plants from across the world, and is a pleasant enough place to spend half an hour.
J. D.
Great place to visit. The kids can explore while you have a seat and a cup of tea. The museum upstairs is worth looking at. The tropical gardens are great.
F. T.
It's situated at a pretty convenient location, so I think there's no reason not to pop by and take a look. You get to see the history of Glasgow and its struggles and resurgence. You also get to see how Glasgow developed alongside the river Clyde.
M. O.
Great museum, although half of it (the gardens) were closed. It would have been nice if they had updated their website to reflect this so as to not leave visitors disappointed.
J.
Very central gallery. Exhibitions change regularly. Worth a visit if only to see Wellington with a traffic cone on his head
I. N.
A nice museum in a beautiful location, not too big, with some interesting historical exhibition mostly about the twentieth century.
D. O.
Great place to visit, lots of interesting exhibits, glass house was fab.
Thay said I remember years ago it had fish in it.....maybe a dream
F. M.
outdated displays but still interesting. too bad about the glass house, hope they repair it.
A. R.
A great little museum that focuses on the people of Glasgow, the exhibits are mainly from the last two hundred years and touch the turbulent history of Britain's second biggest city. It doesn't take long to visit but it leaves you with a sense of place and time and some understanding about why Glasgow became known as Red Clydeside in the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution. Afterwards you can sit in the gardens of the Winter Gardens and enjoy coffee or tea.
N. C.
Excellent day out for everyone the outside of the building is lovely and so is the inside, but the most eye catching thung is the fountain outside which. I would highly recommend going here if you have never been as it shows off glasgows history.
I. “. G.
Great experience for all the family the excitement builds as you approach the wonderful fountain at the entrance, it's free which is brilliant for all, the glass house gardens and cafe are warm and welcoming with exploring the jungle for the young and peaceful relaxing seating beneath the verdant green canopy for the more mature.... The museum upstairs is full of historical Glaswegian delights..... Every one should pop in and say hello and if your of a mind drop a donation in the box as a thank you
G. R. B.
People's Palace is Glasgows true museum. A real history of the city. I love the winter garden. Its a glasshouse with a cafe. Staff were very knowledgeable and clearly love their job. Look out for the old tenement and Billy Connellys banana boots.
T. B.
We went along to the free museum within the People's Palace and spent about 45 minutes looking around. There are some interesting exhibits, but you get the overall impression the place a little strapped for cash - it's a bit tatty but it's trying. Worth a quick visit.
B. N.
Loved it. A truly great day and a chance to see what Glasgow was really like. Also some fantastic exhibitions of the big yuns(Billy Connellys) banana shoes. Amazing.
R. H.
Absolutely beautiful building with a great history of Glasgow taken from the viewpoint of everyday people. Definitely a must see but Glasgow has so many great museums.
o.
One can learn a lot about Glasgow thanks to this Museum. The terracotta fountain outside is a gem as is the vast field near it.
However, it is a different story inside People's Palace; 3 problems: there are many plants in the botany that aren't labeled, one of the brass dog's are missing with no explaination and upstairs, first thing on the left are interactive binoculars above which it reads "Look through to see how people spent time yadayad in 19yadayad", so I do, blue screen with - DISC NOT PLAYABLE. Still worth a visit.
J. R.
Interesting collection of everyday items to illustrate Glasgow life in the last century. The 1955 photographs were quite impressive. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
N. K.
A lovely indoor garden in a giant glass dome, the perfect place to go on a grey day in Glasgow. There is a tea-shop selling nice big lunches for very reasonable prices. The Peoples Palace itself contains a museum of Glasgow history.
Y. B.
Fabulous place , lots of information and good exhibits
K.
Exhibitions not particularly interesting but nice little conservatory and excellent cafe. Good value food and friendly Glesga staff. Toilets pretty and very clean though single dryer inadequate.
R. P.
It's ok. Some of ride exhibits don't appear to have been updated since the 90s. You don't really expect to see sentences like "Today, in the 1990s" in 2018. Bit embarrassing for a museum about life in a city to be missing the last 20 years.
C. L.
Interesting and informative visit to local history museum
J. R.
Fascinating museum about the daily lives of people over the last couple centuries. Well laid out and interactive, there is plenty to keep both kids and adults interested.
A. S.
Too informational. Does not focus on items.
J. G.
Nice, if small, museum about Glasgow life. The attached winter gardens are very nice and worth a wander around or a tea break at the cafe.

If you’re just here specifically for the Glasshouse like myself be prepared that it is closed for another minimum 3 years for funding and restructure.
The museum itself is small and quaint with friendly staff

Disappointing. Only the ground and first floor were open. Cafe was good though!

Fascinating insights into the way people lived in Glasgow in the past. Plus a lovely winter garden conservatory worth a visit on its own.

The water garden section was under construction (as of 8/29/16) so it was blocked off with mesh netting.
the inside of the people's palace was fun, being sort of a Glasgow museum with all sorts of random stuff from glasgow's history.

Maybe won't leave it so long till next time 😉

Used to prove this place but so sad to see the winter gardens closed and a fence up around it when we visited.. looks like they will be pulling g the winter gardens down as according to a staff member the city does not have the money to fund the repairs required to make it safe and open it up to the public.
A. S.
