Reviews of The Lighthouse
S. G.
The building was very nice, the best part of the exposition was the lighthouse itself. The stairwell went up to the very top and made it incredibly worth climbing all those flights of stairs. However, it is not accessible to everyone, if you need to use the lift you can only access a different part of the building that shows you part of the view to the city but you cannot go where the stairwell takes you.
Toilets at the lighthouse weren’t great. They had some funny signs but the woman’s toilet seats felt like they were about to fall off the wall if you sat down.
H. B.
I spent almost 1 hour there with other friends. It presents a great deal of the Scottish arts, however I don't really like the organisation there. It should be reorganized. The open view from the top of the stair way is great for spotting attractions in Glasgow
A. G.
Unique building in the centre of Glasgow with an interesting history. Great viewing from the top where you can go outside on a gantry with a 360°view. A lot of steps to climb from the 3rd floor if you want to get the great view.
A. T.
Great place, hidden in the lanes of Buchanan street but worth visiting. Has several museums. To see this staircase you need to go through the Mackintosh hall on the 3rd floor. It would've been great if they had a map of glasgow on the top, so you could easily guess what building is what. Otherwise, fine 👍🏻 …
A. m.
After 4 years living in Glasgow and I hadn't been here, this is such a discovery. Nice place with great views from the tower, really arty and we'll located.
Apparently is more famous for tourists, but has a great and avant-garde atmosphere.
B. C.
A very good exhibition a d a long walk up a spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse for great views over Glasgow. There's also a lift to another, slightly lower viewing platform for the less able. We did both. And all for free.
K. m.
Lovely gallery and museum to visit. The views from top of tower are beautiful but my favourite part was listening to the gentleman play the lovely music on piano as you look perfect ending.
A. W.
A building designed by Glasgow favourite son Mr Charles Rennie McIntosh although you don't really get the flavour of it from the outside due to the tightness of Mitchell lane and the close proximity of the adjacent buildings. The tower itself is not by McIntosh but a later addition but has great panoramic views of the city below, so worth the visit but beware I counted 220 steps to the top!
P. S.
A must see if in Glasgow and able to climb a few stairs. Offering a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Limited space at the top but figures in the top 10 to do's in Glasgow.
G. P.
Free museum in the city Centre of Glasgow. Great view of the city from the 6th floor and a lot of modern art, design and architecture expositions.
There’s also a nice cafe on the 5th floor, I’d love to go again and sit for read while watching the city from above.
A. V.
This lighthouse is located right in the heart of the city, all you have to do is take a left at a small corner in buchanan street where you see neon board that says lighthouse.
Ground floor has souvenirs shop, other floors have various exhibits. At the corner of mackintosh exhibits you’ll find the stairs that lead you to the lighthouse(and yes no entry fees). Up top you’ll be presented with a view of the city, it’s not too high but it’s good enough to showcase the medieval architecture of Glasgow.
S. A.
A little bit hidden in a side alley.
It has cool arcitecture and art exhibitions.
It has a lookout on top where you can overlook Glasgow in 360°.
S. Y.
It was one of the highlights of my trip to Glasgow! Fantastic views of Glasgow and to my shock completely free! Its a museum dedicated to the great glasgewian architect Macintosh and beautiful staircase to the top of the tower.
H. G.
If you arrive by train from Glasgow central dont miss this spot especially when the weather is nice. Its located 300m from the Glasgow central station. Here you can view an architecture exhibition and eventually walk up your way to the top to see Glasgow city from above.
I. L.
Great venue right in the middle of Glasgow. I've been here many many times. It's worth popping in, even if just to get out of the rain, as there's usually something cool going on.
Also some of the friendliest staff around. Who clearly love their jobs.
The Question Session Music Conference was/is fantastic. Looking forward to next year.
A. E. A.
A very nice view for the city center from up with a nice gallery
M. C.
One of my favourite places in Glasgow. I highly recommend it. Macintosh reminds me to modernism architects of Barcelona. It has great views and a very interesting approach of the current architecture 👍👍👍 …
J. P.
Great gallery spaces on every floor. Interesting exhibit about Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Excellent views from the top.
S.
Had only 20 mins left before closing by the time I reached and only got to go to the tower., nice view but bit narrow balcony
A. B.
Very interesting and educational place.
With many floors and many different galeries and rooms .
Beautiful vue at the top of the lighthouse.
A. N.
Nice building - visited as part of a general walkabout Edinburgh looking at Rennie Mackintosh buildings. Museum also worth a look - quite a small but compact Museum with a Rennie Mackintosh exhibition too.

The best place to seeing around Glasgow
One of among historical building in Glasgow, it was builded in 1893 and have used as office of Glasgow Herald newspaper.
This building has a tower for reserves water in case of fire but for now on there is a seeing point for viewing Glasgow city.
If you want to see Glasgow city you must come in but please come in the sunny day!
Inside the building, there have showing galleries and cafe so you can spending half-day here.
s. n.
Great (free) view of Glasgow. If you are, however, not looking for a view but instead would want to see modern artistic and architectural exhibitions then this place has got you covered!
If you are not interested in either then this place sucks don't go.
C. C.
I can feel the supportive creative fabric just weaving throughout the building. Their exhibits are well thought out, and the cafe is well lit with natural light. The cherry on top is the unrivaled views of Glasgow on the 6th floor. Lovely, huge windows overlooking Glasgow coupled with a background of beautifully bright walls painted by talented muralists – what more could I ask for? It’s a perfect venue as the beacon of art, design, and architecture in such a creative city as Glasgow.
A. W.
As the contents of the museum change over time this review may not reflect the current status of the museum.
The museum is home to modern art and architecture. As such if you are not an art person then you may find the museum boring as I did.
There are 4 floors each with different exhibits and a viewing gallery at the top of the building. As admission to the museum is free I would recommend going to the viewing gallery to enjoy the skyline however the exhibits themselves were small so don't expect to spend more than 2 hours there.
E. E.
Impressive historical building. It was temporarily closed when I visited so not sure how it is inside.
S. v.
I expected more. There are a few art galleries inside. At the time of my visit there were a few that were closed. The view was okay though.
K. S.
TOUR GLASGOWBGET THE FREE MAP AT THE ENTRY.Was here today with my daughter's great wee day my daughter loves Rennie McIntosh buildings and we explored this building from top to bottom only thing that annoyed me was I had a pram and there was escalaters but people choose to go on the lift meaning we had to wait till people got on and they were too rude to let us on but other than that the building is fab cafe was ok bit pricey and not alot of it would recommend if you like Rennie McIntosh buildings great wee day out if you get one of the free maps at the front and tour Glasgow
A. V.
Free entrance. Small observation deck from the top of the lighthouse to get a better view of the shopping district. There are exhibitions and art displays in the floors that lead up to it. Recommended if you are in the area.
J. A.
Excellent!! Great Macintosh floor. There very top was closed on my visit but the balcony was open. Quite a few steps to get there, but worth it for the views
c. m.
What a fab building to visit right in the city centre, been here a few times, even brought the grandchildren to a chocolate event a few years ago . Brought them back again for the third time in the October break and it was Charles Rennie Mackintosh display celebrating his birth 150 years ago. A bit of a climb to the viewing area but well worth it. Cafeteria well worth a wee stop to catch your breath and has delicious soup & sandwiches. Ground floor has a gift shop.
N. G.
I was lucky enough to have visited when the weather was sunny. The view is spectacular. There are a lot of steps to climb up the tower but it is definitely worth the effort. Amazing experience. I am glad I have seen it.
L. V. D. D.
Incredible spot. You feel creative and vibrant just walking in the door. The spiral staircase and roof-top views are stunning!
B. G.
Sure do love the piano at the top and the view and like the wee shop as well. Everything is actually good and staff are helpfull
A. W.
A must stop in between your shopping at busy surrounding St Enoch area and house of Fraser's. You can definitely skip the galleries if you're in hurry and just take the 15 minutes staircase to reach the top small area for breathtaking Glasgow city views.its worth the climbing of stairs part☝!
P. B.
An extremely enjoyable time. A great little exhibition of sci-fi architecture through the ages. Some fabulous Mackintosh bits and pieces to buy in the shop as well.
D. M.
Interesting place to visit especially if you like Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Some stunning views of the city
D. S.
What a great place, and such a great view of the city. Best thing it's free to enter.
M. T.
Thought provoking art exhibitions on the first 3 floors. Head up the stairs for history and architectural information about the building and views of Glasgow.
S. J.
Amazing venue, with brilliant exhibitions, knowledgeable staff and great views of the city.
G. M.
Great artistic attraction in the centre of Glasgow with a constant flow of.new and thought provoking exhibitions.
C. K.
Always worth the visit.. love coming back I have been here so many times
A. L.
Free to visit with lovely views of the city from the top, highly recommend when in Glasgow! Friendly staff and great facilities, also a nice cafe on top floor to relax
R. M.
Great day out with my wee boy. We made his mum a purple Christmas card. His mum's a cow and my wee boy doesn't know she hates purple so I had a quiet giggle at that. We made a card for his nana as well which was just really sweet. There was a great poster exhibition about littering on as well which just sets a good example for a 5-year-old boy. The staff were great, just a really good fun city centre day out with my wee boy.
D. P.
Housed in the former Glasgow Herald building, the Lighthouse is now an exhibition space with a gallery dedicated to the architecture of Mackintosh. Don't miss the viewing platform at the top for wonderful panoramic views of Glasgow.
T. W.
Lovely place to visit. Great view of the city from the rooftop
M. D. (.
Amazing place to take photos, as I did! Feels like you are on top of the whole city!
C. S.
Great views from the top, if you are willing to climb the stairs. Interesting exhibits in the galleries which are worth a wander around too.
L. S.
I was enjoy my visit there, this place has an amazing view. is located in downtown.
B. G.
Best place if you are looking for contemporary exhibitions in Glasgow and also you can get familiar with Mackintosh's architecture portfolio.
s. s.
Was really good view loft was abit crammed but worth it
M. B.
Lovely views from the top of the building. Shows how diverse Glasgow architecture is. Fantstic art on show whilst we visited.
A. S.
Great 360 views of Glasgow city. Lot's of stairs to climb so be prepared for that.
J. D.
Great place to take a view of the City of Glasgow
V. H.
Great gallery exhibition, with a great views on the top! People make Glasgow ♥️
R. K.
There is a piano on the top :P Among various exhibitions on each floor I attended the one of Nelson Mandela, didn't know he came to Glasgow and the movement against apartheid or propagated in our very own Glasgow! The street where the Light house is located has a Graffiti of Panda nd 3 more are there on the adjoining Mitchell street.
K. A. P.
A bit hard to connect to and understand unless you have a lot of time to explore. But there is a dynamite view of Glasgow from the top floor.
R.
Excellent place for Rennee Macintosh fans. Good art displays and a viewing platform on 5th floor with views over Glasgow.
A. B.
Fantastic place for showcasing architectural design and innovation!
M.
The reasons for closure are gone, why is it still closed? Would love to go
H. L.
The galleries are great and the view is cool. But it's not really a special place for taking photographs.
K. Š.
Very unique architecture and art gallery and event space - plus some great free view of the city!
T. M.
Went in for a quick look and ended up being in for over an hour as we found the building itself to be very interesting and coupled with the Renne Mcintosh exhibition we had plenty to look at, the top floor was closed so we couldnt see the rooftop view of Glasgow I had hoped for but we enjoyed this hidden gem nevertheless.
L. C.
Great display, interesting building with incredible views from 6th floor. Nice coffee at the cafe on floor 5.
M. R.
Amazing art exhibition and building. Great views out over city. Bit of a secret gem in Glasgow.
Z. G.
One of the best view in all of Glasgow.
F. F.
Great piece of history and well presented! The old and new parts joined together really enhanced the experience!
A. R.
If you want a stunning skyline view of Glasgow, then this is the place to come.
G. P.
We had a short layover in Glasgow and had to pick a spot for a quick visit, well worth the trip.
D. P.
Would highly recommend a visit. Doesn't take long and it is free, and what a view you have from the top looking over the city. You have two options, get the lift up to a glass viewing gallery, or else go into the museum with the Mackintosh exhibition and walk up the spiral stairs inside the tower to an outdoor viewing area, this one is the best.
a. k.
Great fun place to visit, good view and interesting exhibitions
D. S.
Wonderful views of Glasgow and the spiral staircase is a work of art in itself
I. S.
I wish it was open till later, otherwise lovely place to show to people, always impresses!
S. P.
Lovely old building restored from old newspaper offices. You can visit the displays on Mackintosh architecture including taking lift to 6th floor viewing room to see the wonderful water tower that stood over the old printing press to protect from fires. If you feel fit climb the water tower via the spiral staircase and get a panoramic view of the City. Free entry and lovely cafe on fifth floor. Definitely worth a visit.
A. O. (.
Climb to the top if you want to have nice views of the city. It was raining when I was there, so I can only imagine how spectacular Glasgow would look when it's nice outside. You can use the stairs, but there's also a lift to get up. There's a souvenir store at ground level and some art galleries in the floors above it. The building looks stunning from the outside as well.
M. M.
It is hard to spot this place but it's definitely worth a visit. The view from an old tower is breathtaking.
The entrance is free.
The exhibitions are pretty interesting, too.
L. D.
Great view of the city, not for the faint hearted if you climb the stairs up!
C. J.
Absolutely wonderful place to visit and learn about the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The building is lovely, and we really enjoyed exploring all the floors. I was disappointed to learn the viewing platform on the 6th floor was closed due to water damage, as I was unable to climb the spiral staircase in the tower. Luckily my husband went up and took some lovely photos of the city for me.
E. G.
Mandatory place if u visit Glasgow. Lovely landscape and stunning views
J. S.
A neat find in the city. Although the observation deck was closed to elevator access. I was able to climb the circular stairs and get a stunning 360 degree view of the city. The temporary exhibit linking water to sound was intriguing.
E. P.
Nice place to spend an hour or so. You can access the viewing room by taking the elevator to the 6th floor - but there was a man playing the piano and hassling people for money. Unfortunate. To get to the tower, go to the 3rd floor and enter the exhibition space. It was Glasgow Open Doors so I’m not sure if it costs money normally but if it’s always free then it’s definitely worth a trip. The view is amazing as the other reviews say
A. K.
Interesting architecture. Combining historical old with modern new. The place for excellent view of Glasgow.
There are 172 steps to the top. A stunning view over the rooftops of central Glasgow. You cover it all from this point. The historical part of this place is worthwhile to explore and the exhibition provides the appropriate frame for that.
C. S.
After reading other reviews, I was maybe expecting too much. It’s an average attraction - much of it with nothing in it (meeting rooms, etc). Some good displays and the tower to walk up. Average standard of food. I’m a local, I’m guessing tourists might also feel a little let down having gone there on ‘reviews’.
Y. D.
Quite small and many halls were closed during my visit. The view from the tower is great and the Mackintosh exhibition is well organised and curated. There are also interesting modern exhibition spaces focused on design and architecture of course. I'd say it's well worth a quick visit.
D. W.
Great views from the viewing platform, but even better from the tower. Well worth the climb. Was a little disappointed that several of the galleries were closed to the public for private functions. Still managed to visit the Macintosh gallery. Very interesting and we'll worth a visit. They have a gift shop and surprisingly the prices were reasonable as most attractions with a gift shop tend to inflate the prices are bit.
M. S.
Kids loved climbing to the top. Unfortunately the viewing deck was closed for private function, but enjoyed the views all the same. Great size - not too overwhelming - with interesting exhibitions and a good cafe.
R. W.
Great view of the city (from the tower with the spiral staircase)!
T. W.
This place is great! The two viewpoints are amazing - one is easy to get to by lift, the other takes a *lot* of spiral stairs. It's a perfect place to get an idea of the city, and all free!
The exhibitions across the other floors are hit and miss, but always worth looking round. The shop on the ground floor stocks a lot of great housewares, trinkets and gifts.
L. L.
It's free for starters. Great view over the city if you walk up the lighthouse. I took someone who is scared of heights but they were fine with it. Not all the exhibition rooms are open at the same time. It's a lovely space
L. S.
Great wee hidden attraction with fantastic views from the top deck and a lovely gift shop. Didn't eat there but they have a big, spacious restaurant on an upper floor. Fully accessible by lift and escalator so suitable for disabled visitors
C. F.
Beautiful building, well looked after and the viewing tower is brilliant.
L. N.
Free entrance. It features many galleries (though not all of them will be in use at all times) and a Café. The shop has some cool products. The building has a lift and going to the top will allow for view of the lighthouse and a nice view of the city. Hours are a bit restrictive (10.30 am - 5 pm).
J. “. G.
I was there on a Tuesday and 2 of the exhibit rooms were closed for private functions, and the cafe on the 5th floor wasn't serving food due to some issue in the kitchen. I understand it was free to get in, but could have mentioned that before I made it to the top. Otherwise a very cool place
t.
One of my favourite place in the City. The history is interesting as the old images of the past few decades. The view from the top is quite impressive and I like to try and identify all the buildings steeples from there. Much fun!
C. G.
Another Mackintosh joy. How many times did I walk past this!! A viewing platform surrounded by glass can be reached by lift by going to the 6 floor. Otherwise you to the third and go to the other tower which is accessed by climbing a wooden spiral staircase. The views are sublime so take your camera. Entry is free but there's a gift shop so you can thank the city with a purchase.
W. W.
This is a 5 star place for a visit. Climb the 230 stairs in the old water tower to take in glasgow city in its glory with a panoramic view of the city and beyond. Their is no access to the tower for wheel chair users but their is access to a platform that looks over the city too. A great place that's free to get into and use. It has a gift shop and many toilets as well as wheel chair user toilets on all floors.
i. L.
Tucked away down a small ally this gallery is worth finding to get out of the Glasgow weather.
Mixed thoughts on the galleries and exhibits, the cafe is very good but be warned the lift is prioritised for the top two floors so you will have a long wait to get off the ground floor if you struggle with steps or escalators.
Shop, as you would expect, is very overpriced but some nice items in there.
M. P.
Hidden place in the center of Glasgow. You can see nice panorama of the city.
B. B.
Great place to visit and it is free to enter. Take the escalator part way up and then the spiral staircase to get a great view over Glasgow. Inside is a small museum dedicated to Charles Rennie Mackintosh. There is also a wee shop inside, which as usual is overpriced.
C. H.
Good views of the city, theres a piano up there too so if you can play that makes it cooler for all involved! Nice exhibition on around mackintosh the architect. And it's all free!
A. G.
Wonderful building with fascinating history and exhibits. Well worth a lift to viewing gallery, and even better views of Glasgow from the outdoor turret. Narrow passageway and a few floors of stairs. Good workout for the legs. All entirely free!
A. K.
Never new this place existed, take lift up to 6th floor for a fantastic view over the city. I also believe you can take another part up outside for a better view! Gift shop sells lovely goods and not too expensive. Worth a visit and can even get a glass of wine in the cafe!
K. H.
Free, and worth a visit for the view at the top. I think otherwise though, you kind of need to know why you are visiting. It is clearly a working building with various rooms being used for conferences, and design/artsy stuff. If it's not your thing or your not paying attention it might be awkward.
Do go though, free is good in my book.
C. P.
Don't expect much about about this place. Nice view from the top floor where you can barely stay five minutes since the lack of fresh air. The elevator that takes you up is slow and usually crowded (max capacity is 7 but unhappily people forget about this).
S. T.
If you have even the slightest interest in Charles Mackintosh or architecture or you just want to see a different view of Glasgow then this is the place for you. There is a viewing platform that allows access for all which unfortunately was closed the day we went so we climbed Mackintosh Tower. The view is amazing and you can spot so many important building from the top. Totally free as well
M.
Beautiful building and amazing exhibits, especially the floor dedicated to Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Be sure to go up the spiral staircase after the Mackintosh exhibit to see the views of Glasgow from the top of the tower & some notable works by the man himself! Would advise going up on a warm day as it can get quite windy.
Level 5 has an excellent cafe, you must try before leaving - use the lift to get to Level 6 for a slightly lower and enclosed viewing platform.
C. N.
This building, in the city centre, provides an excellent view of Glasgow from above the rooftops - and it's free. From here you can also get access to the adjoining tower, which is slightly higher; the top is accessed via a long, much photographed, spiral staircase. However be warned, the viewing area is outside on what feels, and looks, like a castle parapit.
M. D.
Various exhibits on different floors that might be worth a look. But definitely take a peek at the small but informative and well laid out (& free!) exhibit on Mackintosh, adjacent to a small gift shop on the third level. Also fine views of the city, from two different areas/heights.
D. S.
What an amazing place to take your time going round seeing all the amazing views and the galleries and exhibitions. The walk up the Tower is worth it, for the views over the city of Glasgow. Have a nice healthy bite to eat at the Doocot; very reasonably priced food and very tasty. Highly recommend a visit.
A.
Really tough place to visit with pram and must be with wheelchair too. Only one lift, escalator wasn't working on our visit and you can't get up the old tower any other way than by walking up stairs. Despite that it's a great place with interesting exhibitions and amazing views. Would have been 5 stars if accessibility was better.
P. L.
Never will I get bored of visiting this unique building in the centre of Glasgow. It is not only a wonderful building to visit, but with its viewing room at the top you get a brilliant view across the North of Glasgow. It also houses art exhibitions and a Charles Mackintosh exhibition. Not only that, but it is FREE to get into, so brilliant on a rainy day to dive into and spent a few hours in some culture. The cafe is slightly pricey, however its choice is very good and the quality reflects the price.
E. S.
Always interesting contents.
The building itself is beautiful, try the outdoor viewing tower, count the steps. Incredible.
Lots to see and do and the staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful.
My favourite place to wander on a wet afternoon.
D. L.
Dont miss the stairsway to the top of tower, one of the best spot to view cityscopes
M. K.
I went to the Alan Kitching exhibition and it was rather awesome. I enjoyed it a lot. The water tower view is amazing but beware of the climb (unless you just go to the viewing tower via the elevator). Staircase on the tower yields nice shots.
O. Z.
I confess, I came to the view point and the time I had allowed me only to climb there. You climb by a quirky staircase vibrating with different sounds. Yet it was enough to pique my curiosity about Charles Rennie Mackintosh and I'll definitely come back. The view point is great though and as there are not too many high points around the city, very much worth visiting. Notice specifically the "People make Glasgow" sigh, I liked the idea to remind Glasgowians to behave themselves.
G. S.
Really good panoramic view!!!
J. S.
Great views! Nice place to pop into at lunch time.
M. O.
The lighthouse is a nifty building with completely different galleries on each floor. When you get to the last floor via escalator then it's a spiral staircase going all the way to the top where you see the images below. If you are a smoker or not used to stairs it can be a little much, but the view is definitely worth it.
All is free to see.
C. R.
Beutiful viwe and exibitions. Totally worth it.
C. P.
We ran into this by accident citting through an alley on the way back to our hotel. It's a nice view of the city form the 6th floor, and every floor had a small exhibit. The gift shop is nice, and has a lot of Charles Rennie Mackintosh paraphernalia. My favorite exhibit was the Best Use of Timber. It runs through May 20.
K. Z.
Beautiful place, don't miss out!
G. S.
Can see the whole city, and that's a nice man up there playing the piano
G. H.
Love it!! Been meaning to visit for years then finally got round to it. Most of the galleries were closed due to an event, but still well worth going for the building and views over the city...excellent!
G. F.
A great range of exhibits, a crackin' shop, lovely cafe and stunning views from both platforms. An absolute must see for any tourist, through I feel The Lighthouse need a better PR team to sing its praises!
N. S.
Nice exhibition on Mackintosh, library of building materials and other temporary exhibitions. The viewpoint is especially good although a long way up the spiral staircase. The view of Glasgow is a great reward!
M. C.
The Lighthouse has a shop at the ground floor which has a lot of quirky and unique souvenirs that would make great gifts for friends and family, or as a gift to yourself! I definitely enjoyed seeing the exhibits that were available, there's a map in the entrance that tells you what's on the different floors. The only thing I was disappointed with, was there was only one exhibit available on the day we went in addition to the Rennie McIntosh space. It would've been nice to see more exhibitions at the same time
C. A.
Great place to visit while in Glasgow. On a good day, when there's no rain anyway you get a cracking view over Glasgow. And makes for some great photographers. Either from the viewing platform or up to the very top. Bear in mind there is quite a lot of steps up as the lift stops at a certain floor. But don't let that put you off.
A. D.
Great for architecture and good view over Glasgow.
R. P.
Really impressed with this place, there's so much to see. I spent a couple of hours here just looking at all the architecture exhibitions. The view from the tower is well worth a look too.
S. G.
A visit to the upper floor cafe, prompted a visit to the other floors of the Lighthouse and it's local and national exhibitions as well as work areas for artists and artisans.
The cafe is quite soulless but the food is good and you get free WiFi. You are able to converse easily as there's no background music. It is also accessable by lift. A few from the top floor "lighthouse" overlooking central Glasgow is a must. Take your camera! And certainly, if you have time explore the lower floors and see the different exhibits taking place. The bottom floor is where you'll find gifts to remind you of your visit. Recommended.
r. r.
This place was very difficult to find because it was in corner of sidewalk. However it is a hidden gem with mesume inside , which consist of art galleries from different artist . The view from light house to whole of city is absolutely fabulous , making it a hot spot for any tourist to visit for a snap or selfie.
R. M.
It's free to start with. If you time it right there is usually an exhibition on one of the floors. The observation area at the top of the brick spire gives a 360° view of the city which is an added bonus.
A. H.
Love coming up here with people that have never been, as they get a great view.
Z. B. K.
Good for sightseeing. It’s free. There’s a gift shop inside
M. C.
It's quite the experience here, the exhibitions are different then what you might expect, theres not really art, it's a history of the people of Glasgow as well as Socttish related historical events. When I went there was a Nelson Mandela exhibit honoring his work with Scotland.
It's free to get in so if you're looking for something to do, I'd suggest checking it out, plus it's got s high lookout tower at the very top! (Take the lift!)
H. M.
Lovely museum with great information around the history of both the building and Mackintosh as well as the city of Glasgow. More iterative pieces would keep this ineresting for kids but over all a nice place.
E. W.
Fantastic art and design centre. Always new exhibitions in the many galleries within, and a striking new building on the side of one of Glasgow's classic Mackintosh structures. The Mackintosh exhibition is well-curated, and the best view of Glasgow that you could ever have is available at the top of the Mackintosh Tower. Well worth adding to your itinerary, whether you're just visiting Glasgow or have lived there all your life
B. S.
Very interesting! Wish I had arrived earlier. Although the observatory was closed, the supporting information about the architects, the interviews of their clients or their client's children was of great interest.
S.
An art and architecture gallery in the middle of Glasgow. You can walk up to the top of Macintosh's lighthouse where there are stunning views of the Glasgow. Be warned that it is a lot of stairs. There is also another veiwing platform which can be access via a lift if stairs are too much.
I. A. J.
The high floor views are absolutely worthy.
C. K.
Must visit place on a sunny day to go and have a view of the city of Glasgow! Go all the way up for a picturesque view! And you can also enjoy the exhibits if you want ;)
M. T.
Great building! I would say it's a hidden gem of Mackintosh, as it's down a side street, but you can't miss it as it's so tall! Fantastic interpretation centre, and some great resources for architecture students.
D. D.
Probably the best view in central Glasgow. Never too busy, even when the nearby streets are mobbed. Always something interesting to see in one of the exhibits on your way to the tower. It's a good idea to ask at the entrance desk to check that the tower is open before trekking up, events can close it.
A. B. T.
Be sure to check out not only the view from the top, but also the gallery and the view from the water tower!
P. C.
Terrific former newspaper headquarters building, one of relatively few surviving works by Glasgow’s own world-famous architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, now dedicated as a museum largely to him and architecture in general. Two observation levels (including tower) provide stunning views of downtown Glasgow. Highly recommended, particularly for Mackintosh or architecture or design fans!
B. S.
Fascinating exhibitions on architecture and the visual arts which apparently change regularly. I particularly liked the Macintosh exhibit which demonstrated his wide ranging abilities and the reason why he is so highly regarded world wide.
The youth poster exhibit ranged from the naive to the sophisticated and contrasted well with the adult posters which in many cases were colourful but obscure.
Well with a visit and only requires a donation.
R. M.
The Lighthouse is Glasgows hidden gems- offering the best views of the city from a birds eye viewpoint.
Upside: Free entrance, friendly and helpful staff. Live piano performance.
Downside: No elevator- wear sensible shoes- lots of stairs. Entrance is hidden in a dark, dirty alleyway with homeless people standing outside begging for money.
A. A.
This is the place you can see entire view of Glasgow with good visibility.
Obviously it is a tourist spot.
Do expect some stairs before you manage to teach the top floor for views.
n. c.
Very good view and stylish staircase
s. d.
Fantastic exhibitions and a beautiful building. Lovely views over Glasgow, even in a cloudy day. A must for any architect or anyone interested in buildings and the history and future of design and architecture.
H. L.
amazing building, amazing exhibitions. you have to go to the doocot cafe - cheapest decent coffee in the city centre - its a hidden gem
the views on a good day, are stunnig up the tower
DO NOT ATTEMPT to climb the tower unless you're fit - not disabled accessible
J. H.
Great little place. Always good design exhibits going on
B. F.
Great place in the centre of Glasgow for art and history related to the city. Several floors of rotating exhibitions, with views of the city skyline. The top of the lighthouse is only available via stairs however as this is a historical building.
A. V.
Very nice overview of Glasgow and of course a spectacular spiral staircase!
R. G.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh building with lovely museum shop. Great view of Glasgow from viewing gallery. Usually have something to see in exhibition area and there is a nice cafe.
E. W.
A must see place if you are a tourist in the city as we were. The lighthouse not only offers a range of changing and interesting exhibits but also boasts a view out onto the whole city if you're brave enough.
T.
Lovely spiral staircases and interesting museum
E. A.
I visited with friends for lunch at the café. There was a long queue as there wasn't a lot of staff for the number of customers. The food was really good - I had tomato & pepper soup and a BLT sandwich. The café was nice and open so my friends could pull chairs round and chat. The bathrooms had amusing signs on the door and were clean.
D.
The Lighthouse in the center of my favorite scottish city Glasgow.
Remarkable place in the very center of the city.
Fortunately they have managed to keep some of the brilliant masterpieces of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the great architect of Glasgow.
One of few places where we can see his works, as his Museum was burnt out.
M. M.
The Lighthouse is a bit of a hidden gem off Buchanan Street.
Two towers to ascend for views of the city skyline. One by lift, one by spiral staircase.
Great exhibition spaces & an informative Mackintosh exhibition.
D.
The Mackintosh Tower offers a good birds-eye view of the city just a few minutes walk from Central Station, making this a good way to orientate yourself on arrival in Glasgow or to take in as much of the city as possible if time is not on your side. There is a decent Mackintosh exhibition at the bottom of the tower plus a few other design displays on other floors.
E. S.
Old newspaper building designed by Rennie mackintosh, now contains and exhibition about the man himself and other art/architecture exhibitions that change regularly. Great view points from tower (steps) or lift option, and a cafe and gift shop.
P. P.
Beautiful views of Glasgow from the top of this old building ,with escalators most of way up but then a lovely winding staircase for the last few floors to the viewpoint at the top ,entrance to the staircase is through a nice art gallery ,worth a look too
W. S.
If you enjoy architecture and related arts then the lighthouse will have something for you somewhere on its 6 floors. See the architecture of Glasgow directly from the 6th floor viewing area. Then follow this with a selection of exhibitions ranging from jewellery to graduate presentations to the works of MacIntosh and Greek Thompson. Drop in for a coffee and meander through the gift shop with some lovely items.
A. R.
It's a beautiful place to have a good view of Glasgow from the top, with a nice spiral staircase, the day I went sadly the top flor was closed due to an event but I hope I'll return to have a view of it as the one I saw was worth it!
J. V. E.
A lot of gallery's and a good view of the city. But the top view isn't very good, you have a better view of the city by 360° when you take the stairs on the 3th floor.
S. J.
For the best views of Glasgow and a great workout for your legs, this is the place to go
L. K.
Great views of the city of Glasgow can be had from the top of quite a challenging climb of the 137 steps up a spiral staircase. Well worth the effort to get to the top.
J. P.
It is a nice buildings to see a very good panoramic of the city of Glasgow. The only con is that the lift is many times busy and you have to wait a little bit but, apart from this, it is cool
J. C.
It's free, has some interesting architecture related exhibits, and you can climb up to get great views of the city! It's a short stop if you're downtown, don't miss it!
C. C.
A fantastic exhibition space in the middle of Glasgow. A steep climb to the top of the tower if you're brave and fit enough. Very rewarding view from the top.
N. M.
We went here, especially to see a particular exhibition. Only criticism id say is,What a Place to try and find?!! Anyway,we were right up at the top-all 134 steps!! Oh My Good God!! But it was worth it! What a SPECTACULAR view right across the whole of Glasgow!! WOW!!
D. M.
If you are in Glasgow this place must see. You could observe panoramic view of city. Attraction is free of charge which makes the city more welcome.
C. H.
Great viewing platform and always a good variety of exhibitions. Macintosh exhibition could be better lit but offers a good introduction to the famous architect.
D. H.
There is no entry fee and you have a great view from the top of the lighthouse, it does not offer very much space which you should mind when visiting in greater groups.
All in all its okay, but no stunning attraction.
G. F.
Fantastic view of the city, interesting museum.
l. s.
For view over Glasgow city. Climb to highest floor and there is a viewing tower. It also stores many historical facts and good to enjoy if you have time to spend. Located in a small alley within the city center shopping area, will not be hard to find because there are signs along the way
C. W.
A bit of a climb, but easier than the stairs at, say, the Glenfinnan monument, and equally well worth it for the views. Lovely gift shop as well.
S. M.
It's kind of cool and kind of boring. If you want I nice view of Glasgow's rooftops and are interested in house building materials then it's cool. Otherwise, not much going on.
N. d. L. D.
The view of Glasgow is nice, but the indications of what are the visible buildings is not that great.
The exhibition on Macintosh is nice but quite small and dense, and the multimedia screens have an annoying user interface. Quite hard to navigate.
B. S.
We went there to see CR Mackintosh displays and enjoyed being part of the Graphic Design Festival of Scotland. What a gem this place is. Must visit if you are an art, design or architecture fan.
T. M.
One of the coolest places in Glasgow. Do not missing going up the tower, such an amazing view of Glasgow!. There is an elevator you can go up that takes you to a glass walled room with another interesting view.
g. D.
I don't know about this "museum". In my opinion, there was not too much to see. A part of a floor about mackintosh and the viewing point. It's free, so you can take a look for yourself if you have the time but if you have limited time, I wouldn't recommend this.
A. B.
A beacon (sorry!) for those who are curious about architecture - well worth a visit, if not also for the temporary exhibitions, however the one for the commonwealth games was a bit of a let down.
I can't help but feel that the look-out at the top isn't in fact pointing in the wrong direction... Have I missed something?
T. S.
There's a great gift shop and a whole floor just for Charles Mackintosh. Also you can climb up the stairs to get a great view of the city!
J. M.
Loved the exhibition a fantastic experience
V. P.
If you manage to catch some nice weather, the view is pretty great. Although the viewing gallery on the very top was closed when I was there hence the 4 stars.
L. A.
Interesting free museum on architecture and design with a strong focus on the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. There is a beautiful view of the city from the top of the building when the weather is nice!
M. E.
A very unexpected surprise. Was not expecting the exhibits arranged on each floor heading to the top so it was a nice place to spend some time. The view at the top is amazing.
O. H.
Amazing space. Be aware that the elevator takes you up to a separate viewing platform and not the lighthouse itself. That is accessible from the third floor.
G. P.
If you have never been in the Lighthouse you should go for a look. the original building was designed by Rene Macintosh and the conversion to the new interior and layout is sympathetic to the original design.
you should make sure to go to the viewing platform and look across the Glasgow roofs and see the roof detail up close
郑.
It’s really nice place
K. L.
A fine space, masterfully subdivided by floor, showcasing various exhibitions seamlessly. While many come for the spiral staircase people pilgrimage it is the art within its walls that houses the light, one merely becomes it at night.
J. H.
Great views of Glasgow. Make sure to go up the tower for the best views. Nice exhibition space as well, gift shop also.
J. D.
Superb building with great exhibitions displaying Rennie Mackintosh's designs and architecture. Go right to the top of Mackintosh's Glasgow Herald's Water Tower! Great views!
R. D.
Lovely unexpected visit. Wish I had visited here on my first day to get more information about Mackintosh. Bit of a climb to the top but well worth it for the view.
A. S.
The exhibition space is in a modern annex, not in the original McIntosh building.
I strongly recommend coming to the top of the tower to get a panoramic view of Glasgow.
L. M.
Lovely day out. Wonderful staff especially in the Cafe. Free entry. What's not to like and the Charles Rennie MacIntosh Tower was awesome 😎👍 …
P. C.
If you like arthitecture and are a fan (and even better if you are not) of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's work do not miss The Lighthouse. This gorgeous end of the 19th century Glasgow-style building is a gem on its own... And the exhibition about Mackintosh and his work makes it even better. Loved it and looking forward to go again.
Although there are a lot of stairs, make sure you make it to the top of the tower to enjoy some of the best views of Glasgow
j. M.
Brilant place to go,terific view
M. T.
Nice view of the city, free to go to the look out and it seems it is not very busy there so its a nice place to relax, the rest of the building has some cool exhibitions and a gift shop as well
B. H.
Great experience with some stunning sights from the top of the lighthouse. I would really recommend it to anyone who does not live in Glasgow or does not know the city very well as you get a deeper understanding of the city itself
D. A.
Special visit to see the Recoat exhibition This will ruin everything. Great exhibition and really liked the Lighthouse. Quick visit to the Renee McIntosh exhibition. The view from the tower is worth the climb.
H. C. M.
Really nice building inside & outside with some good displays & art on shows don't forget to go to the top of the building & climb up the old staircase to get a great view of Glasgow
C. B.
Amazing view up spiral staircase
D. F.
The Lighthouse is a venue for art and culture. It has 5 floors and state of the art conference rooms and studios. The technology is on par with the industry standards and they really put up a show. On the 5th floor is a cafe which serves hot and cold drinks and light meals and doughnuts. There is a tiny elevator in the place and the escalator is narrow. A gift shop and reception desk on the Ground floor. There are quirky stalls on the first floor and if you want to view Glasgow from above... Go to the 5th floor. There is a parking lot in Mitchell Street, one minute walk from The Lighthouse. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you prefer to travel by train you would be so happy to know that Glasgow Central Station is on the very next block from Mitchell Street. Recently I attended the BAFTA Guru Live sessions and it was very interesting. Please like my review if it has helped you.
R. G. W. D. T.
Beautiful space in the heart of the city. Opened in 1999 when Glasgow was UK City for Architecture and Design. Interesting exhibitions and lots of peaceful corners.
A. M.
Visited for a successful learning session sponsored by Glasgow City to help landlords through the recent changes in legislation. There seem to be multiple conference room / exhibitions. Definitely a dynamic vibe
L. W.
Love the view from here and it's a great space with some interesting exhibitions. The gift shop is also handy if you are looking for something a little different!
B. T.
Fantastic exhibits and a great view of downtown Glasgow
K. T.
Interesting variety of exhibits, on sustainable and economic friendly design, and other design. Topped off by a climb, and magnificent view of greater Glasgow!
J. D.
Free entry with great views from the lighthouse tower over all of Glasgow. A number of interesting expositions are hosted throughout the rest of the building.
Z.
Great view of rooftops of the city. Love free entry places. Lovely staff and inteeresting place to visit. Very educational!
A. B.
Cool display pieces, would have liked to have seen the upper floors
S. '. W.
Absolutely worth a visit! Beautiful view from the lighthouse tower and 6th floor. Also take some time to enjoy the video art exhibition and Mackintosh floor! Café on the 5th floor also serves meals.
A. M.
Architecturally an amazing building, like so many other in Glasgow. Has some very good exhibitions and the Mackintosh gallery is superb.
F. M.
Interesting building. Will try the spiral staircase next visit. Great views.
Excellent coffee served by friendly staff.
Good shop.
j. r.
One of Glasgow‘s design gems. The shop is fab and worth a visit just for itself. Great meeting venue within easy reach of trains and cafes.
I. C.
Interesting building with exhibitions & eco friendly building materials section. Small but relevant CRM area with his style of chairs. Info video on the Art Nouveau style in Europe 1900's.
S. V.
Nice and quiet place for a conference. There is a multistorey parking across the street.
Elevator and escalator access to most floors.
Food was not great though.
D. P.
Museum is ok. The best thing of this place is the view of the city you can have from the top of the building. It's a hidden gem of Glasgow and also it's free.
T. A. S. M. R.
Great building, cool displays and exhibits, the spiral staircase is not for the faint of heart, but worth it for a unique view of the city.
g. m.
Wonderful building, a 'must-go' for the 300 foot Spiral stair case to near 360° fantastic views of Glasgow and beyond.
A. S.
An amazing place. Shoehorned into a wee back street... Then it towers up.
It lost a star because sadly the viewing gallery was closed. Something to do with weather.
C. “. H.
Went to a fantastic event at the lighthouse today, with Dr David R Hamilton. Just an amazing experience. The little book of kindness is his latest book.
B. d. w.
Got 'lost' twice on the way down but found great exhibitions. Nice for the views but great to have a look around inside too!
d. M.
We’re we’re here for our 25th wedding anniversary the meal was fantastic enjoyed every bit I took and for 3 courses was quite a few yes was Beautiful
H. S.
Very nice place to visit, contained lots of information about architectural buildings and mackintosh. You can also enjoy a stunning view from top of the tower.
D. s.
The Macintosh exhibition on the third floor is well worth a visit. And the viewing platform on the sixth floor offers a unique vista of the cityscape.
J. B.
Still as good as ever but closed over Christmas! Excellent cafe on 5th floor. Good rooftop view above. Visit to see and learn about Macintosh.
C. S.
The have a viewing platform the stairs are a bit of a climb but the view of Glasgow is amazing well worth it....
E. P.
Amazing view from the top !
C. W.
Art gallery with some Mackintosh heritage. There wasn't actually all that much to see. But the Mackintosh exhibit had some interesting models of some of his building designs that were never built.
K. F.
Great place - stumbled upon it by accident and didn't regret visiting. Fantastic views from the top and some great exhibitions on the way up.
A. M.
You have to take the lift to get to the top. If you take the elevator and/or stairs, there are other galleries you can visit. Pretty cool!
K. P.
Most of the exhibitions closed. Heating of the facility seems to be a problem. Staff in the museum shop was freezing terribly. Highlight is the spindle stairway up to the tower and the open space at the top of the tower.
J. E.
My first visit to Glasgow thenforst thing I did was head to The Lighthouses to get a view of the city from above and wow what a sight! And the fact it's free is the cherry on top.
C. M.
~240 steps ahead of you for the view, which I think is worth it.
There's also an elevator, but it doesn't go as high as the stairs, it just leads to a small rooms with big windows and a piano.
S.
Great view of Glasgow. Fun stairs.
M. D. F.
Beautiful view of Glasgow at the top of the tower
M. H.
Beautifully reconstructed building, with a wealth of history behind it and a place in the history of design. Bright, airy exhibitions... and tat in the foyer for tourists!
A. S.
Absolutely fabulous place to visit, it is free to enter, great for family days out, the views from the top of the tower over the city are amazing.
Well worth a visit
B. P.
The Lighthouse is running the Mandela Centenary Exhibition in conjunction with ACTSA Scotland and the Nelson Mandela Scottish Memorial Foundation. There is also additional material from the Scottish Anti-Apartheid Archive which is held by Glasgow Caledonian University. Well worth a visit it runs until 3rd March.
P. J. D.
Pheomenal architectural study research area, plus the view from tower is the best in Glasgow. And the Macintosh exhibit timeline is great.
M. G.
Amazing view if you're willing to climbing a few hundred stairs. Definitely worth a visit on a sunny day.
M. K.
Great place to take visiting family and friends. Particularly love the outdoor viewing platform at the top of the tower. Great view of Glasgow!
D. H.
This place offers some decent views over Glasgow in addition to modern art exhibitions and some of the models of Mackintosh's works that were never built
J. W.
Interesting Building and great views across Glasgow. Some good exhibitions as well. Also its free so worth popping in
M. O.
Amazing view of Glasgow! The spiral staircase is also a sight in itself, definitely worth the climb.
E. L.
Architectural museum. There were several conferences being held so some exhibitions were closed. Not a great view of the city from the top.
P. M.
Beautiful wedding venue
S.
A beautiful place to take pictures . Great place to visit if your interested in architecture and modern arts and photography, there is so much to see and admire . Such an inspiring place .
5.
Great gem of a landmark -been a weegie all my life and only just been for the first time on a recent visit home. Never had a view of the city centre like that before
M. J.
beautiful view of the city from above. And the stairwell up is impressive. Beautiful but it's a hell of a lot of stairs!
Y. A.
It was closed during my visit unfortunately
С. П.
Very informative and quite nicely done. The view was superb. The place has also nice shop on the first floor.
M. R.
Great views of the city, if you're prepared to walk up the spiral staircase several floors.
A. C.
Great modern place with interesting exhibitions, some lovely Mackintosh information and to top it all off, a great view of the city from the top.
G. W.
Really liked it, but when I was there three of the five galleries were closed for private events. You should still give it a shot though.
R. O.
A place you must go to get a birds eye view of Glasgow city centre! The staircase that takes you up to the top is a marvel as well!
w. O.
Just wanted to say I have a lovely visit to the lighthouse, the view from the tower and platform was amazing, the staff were so friendly and I had a nice cup of tea in the café, well worth a visit.
L. S.
Amazing and free. Hidden gem
R. M. (. N. S.
Interesting museum with an exhibition on Rennie Macintosh and some of the best views over Glasgow from the top of the "Lighthouse itself. Prepare for stair climbing.
D. L. &. P. H.
Excellent elevated lunch options, with tasty soups and hearty sandwiches. The architecture, of course, is the biggest draw. Think of it as lunch with Mackintosh and Co.
A. L.
Bit of a disappointment. It's a building with exhibition spaces and a lift to the roof where you can look over the rooftops. Plus there is a gift shop. It's free to visit.
J. V.
Hard to find, and did not fully understand the idea of different floors in building. But the view from top floor was beautiful and someone was playing piano there
M. L.
You have great views but the city itself is very dirty and you can see that even better from that spot unfortunately.
K. W.
A must see for the adventurer visiting Glasgow. Free admission and an unbelievable view (after a steep climb) makes this well worth it.
P. L.
Very cool tower by CRM. Worth the visit and the views of Glasgow make it worth the climb! Nice gift shop, too.
J. S.
Never new this existed .Free entry, very interesting ,long climb to the top but was worth it , great city views .
N. C.
Great views from the top. Well designed building, still very stylish today. Nice giftshop .
B. s.
Very interesting museum full of history . Climb the winding stairs to the viewing platform and walk round and view Glasgow .
R. M.
It's free and an amazing building with great information.
S. B.
Very good - inside is quite interesting but the view from the top and the fun walk up the tower was really good
E. C.
Amazing exhibitions, amazing views.
D. P.
Beautiful building, nice architectural exhibitions and great views from the top. A must-see site in Glasgow! And free!
C. S. L.
The chamber is small but the view is breathtaking. It would be more beautiful after Sunset
T. M.
Great for taking epic Instagram shots in the stairway.
v. t.
Nice to be able to see Glasgow from the top deck, would never hssve known anout it if our hotel porter hadn't told us and it was free even better. Thamks
D. E.
A great view of the city is an excellent way to spend some time in Glasgows city centre, definitely recommend if you have spare time on your hands!!
A. M.
Such a lovely venue I wasn't even aware existed. Had to attend a training course here. It's tucked away next to the Mitchell Lane car park.
K. S.
Beautiful building, lots to see and do...The Viewing Platform holds a special place in my heart too 🤵👰😍 …
M. M.
I fell in love with this building so much that I created beautiful 2d/3d art on it. Follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook @madeehamaham
E. K.
Interesting building, upstairs you can see a lot of the city, and there's always something different being exhibited.
P. S.
Very cool building. Good view at the top and some nice architecture exhibits.
W. W.
As well as amazing architecture, quality gift shop the little cafe offers a delicious lunch, reasonably priced.
A. G.
The observatory was amazing. The architecture inside very interesting and good exhibitions on mackintosh and other architectural things
S. L.
To see the over view of Glasgow and know about the history of Glasgow style buildings, very interesting to know and see the development over the years
M. G.
The Lighthouse is a must-see if you're a Mackintosh fan and it has the best view of the city if you're willing to climb a lot of stairs!
G. H.
Great building that has been thoughtfully restored. Good views of city too from 6th floor.
L. S.
Beautiful place. And beautiful setting. Was at a work event and loves the decor and especially the Highland gin and cocktail!
D. Ó. S.
A genuine Macintosh building that hasn't burnt down! Great views of the city from the tower, after a long climb!
A. V.
It's a public building holding a shop on the ground floor and other events and workshops on the remaining space. Good views of the city from the top floor.
P. W.
Amazing building, great views from the tower, interesting exhibitions and a nice cafe and gift shop
T. P.
Interesting place, lots of history and an amazing view (if you can manage the steps 👀) …
L. J. M.
Amazing views upstairs of the city. There's also a museum but I was told that the best thing about the lighthouse are the views.
E. M.
Beautiful place. There are a lot of explanations about Mackintosh art. However, most of the parts of the buildings are closed.
R. H.
Good exhibition but the star attraction is the tower which gives views over the city centre rooftops.
P. H.
The view from the top floor makes a visit worth it! Nice gift shop too
R. A.
An excellent space for every kind of group. Quirky and individual, but structured well for presentations, interactive sessions etc
Y. W.
Not really my thing.....if you're interested in architecture then go....I was more interested in the art side of Macintosh
D. H.
Some interesting things to look at but not very well presented. The chronology of Rennie Mackintosh life had some really big gaps which I found disappointing
C. M.
Enjoyed the visit and seeing the exhibits. The walk to the top is not to be missed on a bright day!
J. N.
Really lovely views, nice exhibit, not super exciting
M. A.
Worth the climb up. Inspiring and eclectic history of an extraordinary man whose body of work lives on even today -Charles Rennie Mackintosh
J. B.
Great place, one of Glasgows hidden gems.Must climb up the137 steps to have a great view of the city
C. c.
Lovely exhibition lovely attraction...totally breathtaking view, but be careful acrophobics :)
d. w.
Spectacular views of the City, from the highest point of the lighthouse,up a spiral staircase leading to a viewing platform.
C. W.
This is near a great beach in fuertaventura so good I'm going back in about 12 weeks to the Castillo gardens hotel to do the bars and beach again
T. T.
Lovely view free of charge
P. M.
Nice place for a little bit of history and new learnings. Nice views from the open platforms at the top of that stairs.
M.
I found the exhibitions slightly underwhelming. Nonetheless, an interesting place to visit offering great views of the city.
L. T.
I have a terrible time with high stairs and often get dizzy with fear... It took me a while but I did it and it was worth it! Unfortunately, I wasn't brave enough to take a picture from the top... Next time!
A. J.
What a fantastic building, and the views breathtaking. Hidden away up the lane. A must to explore.
A. L.
Really awesome place, you can see the entire panorama of Glasgow from the top, plenty of stuff to see inside.
A. B.
Interesting building. There are two lookout positions. The platform you reach with the lift. Or the top of the lighthouse which you reach with stairs. I preffered the lighthouse
I. C.
It's keeps being closed while saying it's open on the website. When I last went the food was good and they have some cool stuff but it's a shame that the website and reality are out of touch
G. L.
Perfect place for an art lover! And even the view from the attic floor is amazing... Recommended
P. K.
Not a museum person but even otherwise there is nothing much to see here apart from a spiral staircase and a view of the city from top of the tower
k. m.
Amazing views although seems every time I go in they have parts closed off
C. O.
Gorgeous exhibition space in the centre of Glasgow - unique design and great views of the city.
j. b.
Well worth a visit. Free to visit. On Mitchel Lane. Views from the top over the city centre are great
P. I.
Great views from the top. Lots of interesting displays on each level. Gift shop on ground floor.

M. P.
A short visit. Inside you will find some workshops and/or modern art. Great views.
K. J.

Love this place, great venue for art festivals. Brilliant coffee shop on the top floor as well.
C. A.
Quite interesting if you like modern art and design. It has a 360° view of Glasgow.
H. L.
Brilliant rainy view from here!!!
M. H.
A shadow of what it was but still 4 stars for friendly staff a nice cafe at the top and great views over Glasgow from the viewing platform.
