Reviews of Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre
Lovely afternoon spent walking the grounds. Quite hilly in places, but there are walks on the flat. Most paths are suitable for mobility scooter. There are lots of information boards, which make things interesting and informative. Large restaurant inside and a cafe outside, with open air cover. You are given a map, but it would be useful if the put signs to areas, as map not always obvious.
It's a gem of a place! The walking trail is well thought through. Beautiful surroundings with some amazing examples of plants. Great fun finding attractions hidden around. The place is rich in educational informations.
Also there's a small playground suitable for children under 9, cafe with lovely food and drinks and garden centre. For additional charges you can visit Falconry Centre too! Easily whole day out sorted. Highly recommend Batsford.
What a pleasure this Arboretum is. Ideal for a casual stroll and soaking up the wildlife. It's well maintained and has some nice hidden spots for you to uncover. It was a fresh and sunny walk, which made enjoying a nice piece of cake and coffee at the café all that more satisfying. We'll definitely be back again and look to tie it into the falconry centre too
They have an excellent collection of species. Many of the trees and plants have identification signs. A great place to wander around for a couple of hours. Extensive collection of hedgehog statues with clever names are placed alongside the pathways. It is an easy 1.5 mile walk from Moreton-in-Marsh via a public pathway.
Beautiful and well-maintained gardens and wonderful trees. Many paths to explore, and not many excluded to me on a hired Tramper scooter, so my two-hour hire slot went quickly. Many seats to choose from if (like my wife) you want an occasional sit-down (whereas I was sitting comfortably throughout!) Book Tramper two-hour slot in advance (and your entry tickets, if it's likely to be busy).
Cafe and shop etc good - we had an initial coffee and cake, then a spot of lunch when we'd finished. Plants shop quite extensive/good. My wife bought a couple of pot plants.
August 18th visit: Busier than our May visit but still not too bad. Cafe being refurbished/rebuilt but they have one outside - with under-cover seating - while the work goes on. Tramper hire/pickup went smoothly.
We spent a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine here yesterday, what an absolute gem of a place!
Didn't realise we needed to book in advance, so booked and paid while we were in the car park and got straight in.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on-lead (although on a hot day some water bowls around the paths might be a good idea, or take a portable water bottle along)
The arboretum is just spectacular, definitely worth the entrance fee, money well spent. We would love to visit again in autumn. There are paths which are suitable for all abilities, so everyone can get a good view of the trees and gardens, and there's a lot of bird life to admire too, we even saw a pair of firecrests not but an arm's length away, a real treat.
Would highly recommend a visit here if you're in the area.
So many walks to choose from! The redwoods are my favorite 😍 It's wonderful to see so many different (some endangered) species of trees thriving in the Gardens. It was a great visit!
A small but very attractive Arboretum. Not so much suited to the handicapped as some - it is steeply hilly in places and only the main drive is easily usable by mobility scooter. Pleasant staff are all very helpful. The garden centre, shop and cafe are all good and prices are reasonable.
In a nutshell:
- dogs are welcome if kept on a lead.
- excellent walk, very steep in places.
- beautiful Japanese garden vibe to many parts.
- tranquil and pretty.
- adequate café, average prices.
First time here and we really enjoyed it. We booked in advance to visit the arboretum. You get a map which is helpful for finding certain points of interest. There's plenty to see at this time of the year (as in autumnal colours), some paths have quite a incline whilst others don't so it should suit everyone. Dogs are allowed on a lead. Afterwards you can visit the gift shop, garden centre and cafe shop. You can get the usual hot food and drinks, quite reasonable priced too. Just a note... you only have to pay to visit the arboretum! Plenty of parking available. Definitely worth a visit
My wife and I loved this place. The gardens were extensive and so peaceful. On a warm September day, this was just the place to avoid the crowds. We happily spent a couple of hours wandering around the grounds. We’ll definitely come back to see the changing colours of the leaves in autumn and the cherry blossom in spring.
Had such a fantastic time here with family. We must be chosen the perfect day to go as we had blue sky and beautiful autumn colours. Plenty of friendly dogs too! We were given a handy map to get around and there was so much to see! Would definitely recommend this place if you're a nature lover. The cafe was very busy so we didn't go. The garden centre was very expansive with lots of choice.
Excellent day out enjoying the views and beautiful Autumn colours. Lots of birds to see and listen too. The arboretum is quite steep to walk around, but is well worth it for the superb views. The restaurant and garden centre is really worth visiting too.
A lovely Arboretum with a fantastic selection of trees. Went in Spring and although some were bare there was a lovely array of budding trees, including lots of magnolia.
A mixture of very well made paths (tarmac) as well as wood chip paths, so glad we didn't bring the buggy as that would have restricted us to the main paths.
Plenty of daffodils in flower when we went round (April) and a well stocked gift shop to finish.
Excellent couple of hours strolling around this wonderful estate. Luckily the weather was good allowing the autumnal colours to display to their best.
Warm enough to let us enjoy the outdoor cafe for coffee & sandwiches.
Absolutely beautiful, friendly staff beautiful surroundings, dog friendly the prices are ok too.
Would definitely come back to see in a different season.
We visited Batsford last September and again last week. The grounds are beautiful, with lots to see as you walk around. Our first trip was on a warm day and the late summer colours were lovely. Our second trip was a bright cold day, but the daffodils and snowdrops were just as lovely, and made us think winter's almost over for another year. Some of the paths are quite steep, so something to bear in mind. Please note these photos were taken in September.
An autumn visit today was wonderful. Beautiful gardens with stunning colours of these gorgeous trees. The paths are well laid out with a few steep parts but generally pretty easy walking for all. Very nice cake in the cage too.
It was a very enjoyable visit. A true traditional magestic English country estate park. Beautiful landscape and garden, wonderfully upkept and cared for. There is a large shop, and a garden centre also, so bring your wallet. Comfy walking shoes are recommended, but not essential.
Absolutely beautiful day out. Sunny October day with beautiful colour and lovely views. Lovely peaceful place to walk. Very nice garden centre there. We bought some rockery plants.
A very nice place to walk with do many different types of trees which luckily had labels on so I knew what they were
Had improved since my last visit 3 years ago. And Dog friendly.
Excellent place to walk and enjoy the autumn colours. The arboretum has quite extensive trees and plants collections with friendly staffs. Some of the routes are quite steep, but manageable even for pushchair.
Beautiful scenic gardens in a large area. We found it easy to miss a left or right turn as the map seems a lot larger than it was. Easy to walk from one side to another in less than 30mins
Excellent Arboretum. A great mix of trees and shrubs and flowers. Excellent set of information boards as one walks around the very clearly marked path. Lovely views from key points along the path. A good cafe for take out and then a full cafe in the actual garden center. We took 3 hours to stop and have a sandwich lunch and then a leisurely walk around the arboretum highly recommend.
This is a really nice place to visit. The walks through the arboretum are very enjoyable. Some are on very steep paths but there is plenty to see and do for all ages. The shop and restaurant are also very good. It's a limited menu but provides very generous portions. When the weather is favourable its a must see.
Took our 3 month old son who loves looking up at trees. We knew nothing about the place and just thought it would be somewhere nice to take him. It’s a lot more. The staff and owners have done a fantastic job with the grounds. Facilities are excellent. Lots to see in the Arboretum itself with some beautiful features. Highly recommend!
Batsford Arboretum is amazing with lots of spectacular trees and flowers. So tranquil and peaceful. The magnolia trees were in bloom and they looked and smelt amazing. They had an abundance of daffodils spread all over the park. This place is well worth a visit. Will go back again as would like to see all the lovely colours as the seasons change.
Beautiful place to visit. Lovely walks , plenty for the children to do Hedgehog trail. But loads of safe space to run around in Garden centre was full of a variety of plants.
Outside cafe at present as inside being refurbished. Good coffee reasonably priced.
Nice staff
Lovely walk round Batsford Arboretum , beautiful colours with trees changing before losing their leaves. Excellent garden and gift shop. Enjoyed lunch on the terrace.
Beautiful place to visit. We didn't realise it was best to book in advance (luckily there were tickets available when we arrived). Lovely afternoon exploring.
We're regulars here with a season pass. Just love this place. Something so tranquil about the walks here that I don't get in other arboretums. Love the restaurant & garden centre too but can get rather pricey.
It's very scenic, especially with the autumn colours, and a comfortable walk with views down the valley to Batsford House. Highlights included the red deer park, the small lake and beautiful asa trees. The facilities are also good, with an indoor and less crowded outdoor cafe. It was rather overcrowded but that was due to the half term holidays. The whole experience was marred, however, by the insulting woman at the ticket office who, despite my asking for an adult ticket was determined that I was over 65. I'm not, I'm 54! Why would anyone be so rude as to mention age like that?! If I wanted a concessionary rate I would have asked for one! Anyway, thanks ticket lady for totally ruining my day.
We've walked around the arboretum in the past and it was stunning. This weekend's visit was just to the cafe and it was mixed. A very long slow queue, I had to get trays because no one took trays to the queue, not having any idea what food was available until we had queued for 15 minutes. Then friendly service, good selection of apparently freshly prepared food, but slow coffee machine delaying entire queue. Our food came out fairly quickly, three burgers ( two barely warm and a third cold) were tasty but the temperature of them concerning, the rest of the food was tasty and served correctly. Not sure if there are issues, it wasn't a particularly busy day apart from how slow the queue moved.
Great for a nice walk. The colours in autumn are superb. Didn’t visit the cafe so can’t comment on the food.
A lovely visit. I think we missed out on some amazing colours visiting this time of year, wait until spring has fully sprung or until summer/autumn
Excellent day out, very informative talks and up close to all the display birds. My grandson loved the Secretary Bird which he has adopted for a year.
Visited on a sunny Spring morning. What a beautiful little hidden treasure. Loved it.
Truly an amazing place with all the different trees and garden.. lovely to come and walk around and feel nature.. highly recommended !
Large and beautiful garden with rich collection of plants. A nice place to embrace nature. Car park is easy to access. Better to arrive before noon otherwise you may not have enough time to walk all paths, to make best use of 8 GBP ticket.
Excellent day out. The arboretum is lovely for walking around and for being dog friendly. Cafe and garden centre are also worth visiting for some good cakes and refreshments. We met up with friends and had a really nice time.
Great easter hunt for the kids, make sure your up for the walk! It's a little up and down. Kinda push buggy friendly but you will feel like you've just done a work out! Good little picnic area with a snack bar.
For anyone with a love for trees and plants this is a must visit. Absloutely stunning with an amazing selecion of trees.
Lovely day out, especially for an autumnal walk. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Dog friendly venue.
Tickets available to purchase online prior to attending...cost approx £8 per person with concessions.
Access to the Falconry isn’t included in the price of the entrance to the Arboretum this wasn’t very clear when we purchased the tickets we believed it was included. Would be good if they done a package deal for them both.
Disabled friendly routes.
Garden centre has lots of choice and large cafe attached to it.
Lovely visit today, the spring flowers are amazing.
Great day out walking among the trees. With views from the top of the hill. Lovely garden centre too.
Wonderful day out! Absolutely love this gorgeous place 😍 Such friendly and welcoming staff that make the experience even more enjoyable! Great place to bimble, hug trees and reconnect with nature 😁
I nearly didn't visit initially because it states 'no picnics', but there are plenty of lovely picnic areas on the outskirts of the arboretum, near the car park and the cafe decking area is also lovely and spacious. So don't let that put you off.
Highly recommend!
Such a beautiful place. Well set out. Some paths barely accessible for wheelchairs! Some very steep hills. Lovely Garden centre, cafe indoor and outdoor. Falconry centre. Good few hours needed!
Beautiful place and so peaceful. The gift shop was lovely and the cafe food delicious. You'll need to book online before you visit the gardens.
Excellent day out.Garden centre and restaurant good value.
Wonderful visit. Quiet stress free beautiful surroundings and lovely restaurant. Milly our dog also loved it. Every time we visit the cotswolds we visit the arboretum.
Fantastic place. The peaceful power of the trees and the beautiful views of the Cotswold countryside are well worth the entrance fee, although the cafe is over"priced - take a picnic!
What a beautiful place! The Magnolias coming into bloom were magnificent. A lovely and peaceful place to easily spend a couple of hours exploring the trails and relaxing with nothing but the sound of bird song. St. Mary’s church is at the far end of the arboretum which is a must visit too. Nice garden centre and café also.
A lovely place to explore on a sunny Autumn day!
Autumnal colours were just beginning to appear in our late-September visit, and will apparently only get better though October.
Booking is required in the current situation, but once you’ve collected your ticket you can come and go as you please throughout the day.
Such a brilliant place for 2 or 3 hours walking and sitting. Beautiful area, with lovely spring flowers currently. Magnolia trees at their best, bluebells and spring bulbs everywhere. Lots of walking routes so you can walk as long or short a distance as you can manage. Well worth the visit.
Absolutely stunning place! It may seems pricey but every penny worth! You can spend all day there and have a little picnic on the numerous green spaces. The overall walk took me 2.5 hours but I didn’t sit anywhere and I wouldn’t recommend quicker walk. It’s was just a perfect Sunday! And the nearby towns are just gorgeous themselves too!
Lovely place for a walk. Only problem was Sat Nav kept taking us to the village instead of the Arboretum. At the moment the trees are lovely colours. There's a little stream running through the woods with sweet little waterfalls. Lots of little nooks and crannies to explore. Has a nice garden centre and very good cafe with friendly helpful staff. We sat outside on the veranda. The cafe has a play area for the kids. You can take picnics and have them on tables near the cafe/garden centre, but you can't take picnics into the Arboretum. Well worth the visit. Xx
Lovely Arboretum. Beautiful trees and plants. You can spend hours wandering around. Decent entrance fee. Nice cafe attached with a nice outside sitting area. Great cakes and coffee. Also a neat garden centre on site.
What a beatuful place for a relaxing walk! The Autumn colours are striking. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes or walking boots, definitely not wellies. Book you tickets in advance.
Beautiful place! Despite we live in London we have already visited twice when in the area. Our last visit was on 06/11/2019.
Autumn in its full glory and the woodland looks just spectacular - abundance of colours is really striking, so probably the best time to visit. Though no doubt spring and summer are great too.
The layout is simple and you can easily navigate through numerous paths to enjoy a variety of different plants and trees gathered from all over the world. Must say that fiery red Japanese maples look particularly prominent.
Easy to get to - some 2 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh off A44, plenty of parking spaces. Reasonable admission fee at £8.95 including a small donation.
Their visitor centre comprises a café and a gift shop, as well as a garden centre.
Idyllic place to re-unite with our beautiful Mother Nature!
Super walks, with lots of amazing trees and plants. It was a shame that the pop up cafe charged over £19.00 for two coffees, two pasties, a small piece of cake and a bag of crisps and seating was outside only. Perhaps more generous portions of cake would leave less of a bad taste in the mouth.
This is a lovely place at any time of the year. From late January the snowdrops and cyclamen put on a great show, and this year the daffodils were starting to bloom. It's dog friendly, even the cafe and garden centre areas. Spend a couple of hours here and enjoy.
We spent a lovely afternoon here, and came home with some beautiful plants. It was nice to see our four legged friends enjoying their day too.
Batsford Arboretum Centre is in the process of a large refurbishment at present which will be great when it's completed, however we still had a delicious lunch in the garden, bought some plants and visited Roger the wood man.
Great garden centre with large range of pots and plants. Arboretum is beautiful. Would be stunning in autumn when leaves change. Easy parking and wheelchair access. No picnics in the arboretum itself but there are picnic benches next to the car park.
I absolutely adore this place. I visit every Spring & Autumn Equinox. Today I made friends with a long hair cat at the old sheep dip.
This place is well worth a visit. We spent a whole afternoon wandering around and taking in the surroundings. Well priced tickers and appreciated the NHS discount. Make sure you book online before arriving.
Great place! Splendid arboretum, naturalistic magnificence. The Bastford park offers an extraordinary view in a huge private property and it makes the place even better.
Highly recommended for a simple walk to enjoy nature
My daughter and I are friends of westonbirt arboretum which gives you free admission to batsford. You can pass a couple of hours here within the trees. I bet the small waterfalls are lovely but as there hasn't been much rainfall these were dried up.
Well worth a visit here for nature lovers and everyone else. Had a long walk all the way round this picturesque landscaped garden. Hidden paths and many rare tree specimens to see. Will love to see it at other times of the year.
Quite a lovely arboretum, covering a large area. They have a cafe attached to the garden centre, along with the required toilet facilities.
Walked across the fields from the CAMC site in Moreton in Marsh, very reasonable entry fees, great cafe, beautiful arboretum with a handy site map issued on entry.
Wonderful, wooded walks. Spent a good 3 hours wandering around with the dogs. Nice coffee & cake to top it off.
Some wonderful trees for sale in the Garden Centre.
Wonderful autumn display of colour, especially with the blue sky during our visit.
Well stocked garden shop and nice little cafe for a snack.
Had a lovely afternoon here. Started with lunch in the cafe. Not cheap but it was lovely. The walk around the arboretum can be as long or short as you make it. Map included in your admission. Lots of the walks are accessible too 👍
A wonderful place to go for a day out, with great views and amazing trees and plants around every corner. The garden centre is also well stocked with lovely items and plants, and the cafe is up over looking. The food was reasonably priced and enjoyable. The staff were very nice and helpful would recommend a visit.
Beautiful relaxing and peaceful. Walking around the numerous paths here is a real joy you can just lose yourself in nature. The trees are a real treat in Autumn I can't wait to come back in the spring to see them flowering.
Lovely coffee and food, nice new surroundings, well worth a visit.
Don't like dogs in the restaurant though!
Lovely walk but the queue at the café was horrific. Beautiful autumn Saturday lunchtime, hundreds of customers - who knew?!?
A beautiful, quiet and tranquil place to visit. 45+ acres of rare and historic trees - so plenty of space to get away from the crowds. Different things to see with the seasons - see the acers in autumn, and the magnolias in spring. And see the giant redwoods. Gravel and tarmacced paths throughout, as well as grassed areas. Easy parking. Entrance through the attached garden centre which has toilets and a cafe.
Had a lovely walk around the Arboretum when a lot of the tree and shrubs were in flower,it’s a very pretty place with lots to see and do,had a nice cup of tea and something to eat in the garden centre restaurant, very enjoyable
Wonderful place for a weekend 1-2 hours walk summer or winter, refreshments are also available and it’s open even during lockdown.
Lovely place to walk round. Very well kept and mapped out. Dog friendly too
We love coming to Batsford Arboretum especially in the coming month of October, with the brilliant display of colours spread through the trees.
There are new entrance and exits at the moment due to Covid19 countermeasures but they are quite simple to follow.
There is a cafe with delicious hot food and cakes and a shop for gifts. The garden centre has an excellent selection of products and quite reasonable prices.
However the main thing is the grounds. A great place for a beautiful walk.
Great day out. Lovely grounds. Really good cafe child friendly food.
Kids loved exploring the trees.
Quirky museum of farming equipment.
Visited Batsford garden centre to purchase some plants. The place is very big with a large selection of plants and trees. They have a large cafe and restaurant on the roof above the garden centre. It is free entry to the garden centre. Everything else needs to be booked prior to your visit.
Beautiful walks through the arboretum. Anne Frank's tree very poignant. Shop and cafe reasonable prices. Garden Centre too. A lovely afternoon out. Dogs on leads welcome. Friendly helpful staff
Wonderful place to visit especially during autumn 🍂 with all the beautiful colours
Lovely park and woodland with lots of interesting different trees. There are interesting walks through the grounds to see the various areas and tree specimens. The grounds are tidy and well kept. There is a fee to get in, or you can buy an annual membership for £70. The cafe does very good tea and cakes, with good outdoor seating area. There is great garden centre with lots of tree varieties available, and shaped box hedges.
Great venue, excellent products and cafe, great service and value. Added to that, the arboretum is spectacular.
So peaceful today, hardly anyone there it was just the rest from the everyday stresses that my partner and I needed loads of places to sit and relax and it also has takeaway snacks and hot and cold drinks Heartily recommend a visit
Comparatively speaking, the arboretum gives Westonbirt a run for its money. Great range of flora and fauna, nice landscapes and beautiful views. Right next to the garden centre for a nice spot of lunch too.
Visited in June, good solid paths for walking round with some great views. Excellent garden centre with a nice restaurant.
This is a beautiful place to walk around and relax. It has a few different paths to walk along - not all are wheelchair accessible but the main paths are. Lots of interesting information boards dotted around and the colours of the leaves at this time of the year are amazing 🍃 Has a shop and very good cafe along with toilets. We will be back in spring to see the difference in the colours.
Arboretum is beautiful on all year sezons.
We always just love walking round looking at all the plants and trees.its good that the outside cafe is open but you must pay by card . Will be glad when we get back to some normality. Have been a Batsford friends card holder for a few years now and now the new Restaurant is open it's great to have a nice walk and then a drink or a meal if desired. After all this time I still love coming here.
First time visit. Relaxing walks for all abilities. Dog friendly around the arboretum and in the garden centre restaurant. Friendly staff. Will definitely visit again
Stunning. Looking forward to autumn and winter walks with my wife and daughter (Thule Urban Glide 2 buggy).
A delightful walk.. really enjoyed.. the panini's in the cafe however are very poor.. cheap quality bread and just cooked for long enough.. £20 for 2 panini and 2 tea, it should be spot on! Not a soggy limp cheap bread.
Beautiful place to visit, lovely autumn colours
It wasn't too busy so we had plenty of time to wander around, take photos and relax in the cafe afterwards. The arboretum is lovely with Magnolias in bloom and other trees just waking up for spring. Lots of daffodils, hellebores and evergreen trees. We took around 1 hour 30 mins to get round.
A note on the cafe as no-one else mentioned this and I couldn't find anything on the website. They had 2 gluten free cake options. A brownie ( standard GF offering ) and also a courgette and avocado cake.... I wasn't sure but ordered it anyway and I'm glad I did. It was lovely and moist and reminded me of carrot cake. I also had earl grey tea which was lovely too.
Had a nice time and will need to return when the seasons change.
Always visit this arboretum each October on my wife's birthday. Peaceful, relaxing and amazing autumn colours.
Absolutely wonderful place. Has the wow factor for every season of the year. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
A really beautiful place to visit. Cafe was open for coffee when we arrived - all very organised too, prepaid ticket made it quick to get in. Really glad to be back again.
A nice place to go for a walk with family and friends
Expect to spend around 3 hours on your visit. Lovely walks especially around autumn were the colours are at there best.
Beautiful place to walk around with our 2 dogs. Cafe was also lovely. Will come again.
Nice walks
and you can take dogs on leads, food ok
Lovely place to take a nice stroll amongst some lovely trees.
Nice little gift shop and garden centre too.
Its a fabulous place, we are members but £3.25 for a Magnum!! come on guys, i know you have to pay for you improvements but, that's a price rise too far.
Wonderfully curated variety of trees and plants, presented in a natural setting with lovely walk.
Fabulous way to spend a few hours. Colours are amazing. Xx
Enjoyed a lovely walk round the arboretum followed by a bit of shopping in the garden centre and a coffee and cake. Great service by everyone.
One of the most perfect places to go on a sunny day! We've been itching to go since lockdown, and finally arrived this morning and stayed for hours. Not too many people, friendly staff as always, my granddaughter spent a good hour rolling down the grassy hill with her daddy, pure bliss!! I renewed my season ticket today so am looking forward to returning soon and regularly!
Back for the umpteenth time this year, another hit sunny day. The building work is looking great, the restaurant is going to be huge!! We had a picnic at the benches just outside the Arboretum; peaceful, quiet and pretty area under the Eucalyptus!! The hedgehog hunt with my granddaughter was hilarious, we covered 3 and a half miles, then had a well earned Ice cream. As always we had a wonderful day, thank you.
Great place for a visit ,not so expensive, great peaceful gardens ,cafe and garden centre compliment it well.
A good place for solitude and reflection in the fresh air. Allegedly gets busy on weekends but but it doesn't look like on a field, somehow nobody gets on each other ways
@the Arboretum. You have some good reviews here and I don't wish to rain on your parade unduly, but....
On the day of visit you had shut the arboretum due to high winds. Was a shame, but out of your control.
BUT
1) at your self service cafe it is not appropriate to invite customers to give a 10/20% tip at the card payment at the till. It is self service, damn it!
2) the lady at the (closed) arboretum pay desk (wearing visor) told us we would have to book in order to visit the next day. Really? You are so busy and covid-paranoid that we have to book to visit an arboretum in February? Get over yourselves.
On a better note, your improvement & building works indicate good intentions so it is just those little items at personnel/management level that let you down!
Wonderful. Beautiful and interesting. Very nice café and facilities.
A lovely large park with some beautiful colour heading into Autumn. Had a really pleasant afternoon walking around it.
My only comment would be the price of the cafe, it was pretty extortionate to be honest. I know it's a captive audience but I feel like £5 for a very basic, unremarkable sandwich is a little steep.
Nice cafe spot for an outdoor tea or coffee over-looking the garden center. The shop alone was worth a visit for its lovely rose and tulip varieties. Well stocked with garden supplies!
Nice Garden Center, beautiful place to visit!
Lovely combination of a garden centre, falconry and arboretum. Lovely place to visit with fantastic views. Challenging walks to top of the hill. Not designed for disabled users as only one path accessible. Try to improve range of stock in the shop. Very lovely service from staff who are friendly.
Great place to relax and unwind. Set in the most stunning countryside. Mornings have the best light on the Arboretum Really friendly staff and a wonderful cafe that you can enjoy the views from.
Beautiful gardens. Something different to see on every visit with the changing seasons. Great garden center.
A lovely place to spend some time. With all the Autumnal colours the trees look spectacular.
Second visit in a different season and really enjoyed it. Good shade on a very hot day. We love the bridges and it's an easy walk around. Cafe is excellent with lovely staff and good cakes / breakfast.
Have to say didn't go into the arboretum but the cafe is good and has a nice sand pit and play area for kids too!
Lovely gardens nice and peaceful good tearoom
Great for a few hours stroll around the many thousands of plants and trees. Very educational.
Lovely place for autumn colours good cup of coffee and lemon drizzle cake ,NHS track and trace ,clean and tidy
The food was OK, however the range of cooked was a little limited. The price was what you expect, slightly higher than a pub meal.
Great place to see autumn tree colours very well organized.
A great option to do in conjunction with the falconry as they are minutes away and at the time there was a discount on the gardens by visiting both.
There is a good balance between a level of natural growth and maintenance and they have some magnificent giant red wood trees.
The garden centre is pretty diverse and a good option for picking up a green souvenir.
Right size for a good half a day wandering and discovering. Impressive and varied collection. I like that most are labeled. Interesting landscape and features too. Well worth a visit and the entrance fee.
We had an amazing experience at Batsford arboretum. We planned on having a picnic but got rained off at first. The ladies in the visitors centre went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to turn our day around. The covid rules were kept strictly and the signage was very clear which was reassuring without impeding on the enjoyment of the day at all.
The arboretum is beautiful and is absolutely worth visiting but it is the staff that make this place really special.
So many beautiful interesting plants, magnificent trees, good cafe, seasonal interest. Very good value for money esp if you take out annual membership.
Enjoyed the falconry, lively walk, quietness etc
Blustery day today but beautiful carpets of snowdrops crocuses and a few earl daffodils to see. Marvelous eggs benedict int the cafe. One of our favourite go to sots with the dog
We have been here in the past and looked forward to visiting again. A beautiful Arboretum to walk through. I just wish some dog owners would clean up after their animals. Really enjoyed the time spent there
Large area of woodland with easy access paths and plenty of year round interest. Could do with a little more for kids to do but all in all a good family destination
Cafe only review ...bacon sandwich was tasty and good value. The latte for £3.25 was not good. High street cafe e.g. Nero's etc simply much better. Flavour was insipid, weak and topped with froth. Not a latte. Shame as lovely location. Friendly staff but need to review coffee beans and how to make decent latte.
A lively place to visit. Great views and nice cafe
We visit here every year if we can. Beautiful woodland and flowers from around the world. Garden centre has a wide choice of plants etc. Restaurant serves lovely home made food.
I loved this day out. The garden qee so big and loads of plants. We bought a bonsai tree there. The Arboretum was spectacular, i loved the tree and flowers variety and the walk was so peaceful and birds were singing. Amazing experience
Whats not to like? Beautiful in Autumn in the Arboretum, cafe is accesible and serves sensible food at good prices with dogs accommodated and has to have one of the best stocked garden centres around with just about everything you could ask for.
Beautiful setting with plenty of trees and shrubs to admire, with, thankfully most, if not all, have name plates. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Also a well stocked garden centre with lots of plants to buy at a reasonable price. The café was a treat at the end of the visit.
THIS IS NOT A DOG FRIENDLY PLACE, unless you are happy to keep him/her on a short lead for the whole of your visit. Without our dog, this would have been a lovely place to visit. Enticed by the dog friendly publicity, we took our dog but wish we hadn't. I recommend Westonburt Arboretum, which caters for dogs off leads and has areas with no dogs for those who prefer to avoid them.
Fantastic place, easily spend a day here. Take a picnic
Lovely gardens and views, great walk
Delightful little spot with some very rare trees and a falconry centre attached
Beautiful place, nice staff, goid facilities, plenty of parking spaces and dogs are welcome.
Had a great time staff so friendly, became a member.
One of my favourite places to visit. Absolutely beautiful 😍 🌰🍁🍁🍂🍃
A must see especially in autumn.
A lovely relaxing place to have a walk and enjoy the trees which are labelled making it an educational visit, plenty of seating around to sit and enjoy! The cafe/restaurant is well worth a visit, our family had a delicious lunch there and the prices are reasonable.
Good place for a walk , nice that you can take a dog :)
Tasty Sunday lunch at the cafe
Nice to be able to visit again, well laid out and sensible precautions in place.
Impressive grounds. Well mapped out and reasonably priced. Good facilities and worth a visit.
Beautiful tranquil walk.
Absolutely amazing place with so many different plants and trees. Went in the summer and loved it.
We took the kids there today after booking online this morning. Was great to walk around the estate which is stunning. Even the kids enjoyed it. Cafe food was nice but pricey. Make sure you wear walking shoes or wellies - we all did which was a good call.
Great colours during our autumn visit, even when the sun wasn't out during our visit. Too busy indoors for our liking, but the outside seating and cafe was great
Awesome place to visit!
The grounds are out of this world with so much to see and explore. The food and service at the tea room was also exceptional!!! Would definitely recommend.
Nice place but me and my husband were shouted at across the courtyard from a rude member of staff asking to see our entry stickers because she thought we hadn't paid to get in. After showing our stickers she says "well you need to have them on more visibly" (they were) and still at this point not bothering to actually approach us but shouting across the courtyard. An apology for the accusation and dramatic scene would have been nice. Anyway, everyone was staring at us, it was very embarrassing and certainly affected our visit.
I understand checking these things but there are better ways to approach it than embarrassing your customers.
I'm giving it 3 stars because it was very beautiful there.
Had lunch at the cafe and found it well worthwhile visiting. Quite a large menu, including vegetarian items like mashed potatoes and veggies as well as sandwiches. The baked goods mostly had interesting variations not seen anywhere else. Large indoor seating plus outdoor dining on an expansive deck. Casual atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. If you're in the area or visiting the Arboretum or Falconry, definitely make a stop at the cafe for refreshments.
What a wonderfully peaceful place. They have an awful lot of unusual trees and plants laid out in very pretty grounds. Definitely a place to explore when you visit the Cotswolds.
Grounds are beautiful. However do think the continued booking on line and paying by card is unfair to those who don't have Internet and choose to pay by cash as its still legal tender, whilst in the garden centre I overhead the cashiers response to a lady paying cash quite rude. Totally understand the covid situation and wearing masks inside but outside ordering from the outside catering - why?
Bradford Arboretum is always beautiful, particularly in the autumn when the sun catches all the different coloured leaves.
Great place to spend the whole day. Well worth a visit
Lovely place for a sunny day's walk, especially spring and autumn interest
Can't wait to go back. And it wasn't busy.
Lovely place for a walk and the hot food in the cafe was good.
A nice place to walk around for an hour or so. Unfortunately we were a week or two too late for the best autumn colours.
Excellent visit. Not only trees, well signed. Also beautiful Spring flowers. Well worth a visit.
We were very lucky to pick a beautiful autumn morning to go to Batsford Arboretum the colours of the autumn made a very colourful walk around the place. We enjoyed our lunch on their very scenic patio overlooking their garden centre and beautiful countryside.
Really peaceful and tranquil. Beautiful colours and not too busy. Plenty of parking. Toilets open. Shop and takeaway open for snacks a ittle pricey though. If go frequently and to westonbirt you'd be better getting annual membership. Really good for dog walkers and to be kept on a lead at all times. Great for all the family. Lots of bins around if needed. Can watch the deer in the Anne Frank Park and has the falconry right by the side if you wanted to visit that too.
A wonderful place to visit. Very peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful views whichever path you are walking on. Accessible paths around a beautiful Arboretum 😍 Well worth a visit.
Lovely and peaceful as ever - large amounts of space and a lovely day out. Good setup for social distancing, with tables for picnics on the grassy area by the carpark (picnics not allowed inside the arboretum), and a new outdoor seating area and tea/coffee stall by the entrance/exit area. If you want the garden centre, it's now got its own entrance/exit route separate from arboretum visitors.
Total peace and tranquility. Such beautiful trees. Wild garlic every where, blue bells, and orchids growing in the wild meadow area. This is my third visit to the arboretum...... Definitely not the last.
Great place for a walk in the rain and sunshine.
Great for woodland walking. Cafe and gift/plant shop, toilets a few old implements. Free car parking. Bird of Prey Centre is separate.
First time I'd been here despite living close for 20+ years! Lovely place, good pathways on many of the walks (accessibility) and ask well maintained. It was busy when I went but it is a big enough place that you don't feel crowded. Cafe is lovely and prices reasonable, food is good quality too. The garden centre was just as good and I liked that it had a wide range of prices so you didn't have to spend much to get a plant as a momento but also you could spend a tidy sum on a lovely Acer! Return trip already planned.
Lovely place, plenty of varieties of flowers and wild birds, including robins which is one of my favourite.
Waterfall, deers, even the park’s shop is amazing.
Dog walkers also welcomed.
Great area for a family too.
Wonderful autumn colours on what turned out to be a lovely autumnal day. Lovely walk with detailed information on the history and the trees & plants.
Lovely spot for an afternoon wander. Looks like it might get very busy during summer!
A great place to view a huge range of tree species
Great views and lots to see at Batsford. Garden Centre prices really great. Lovely lunch and after a good walk what better than a cup of tea or coffee and Cake.
Perhaps not a good time of year for wandering round unless you're deep into trees. But wander you can.
Lovely day out. Great food in the restaurant.
A gentle walk through an extraordinary number of native and exotic trees. There is a lot of seating areas placed at points of interest and dogs are welcome.
Beautiful...just would be good to have some signage to different paths as you go round. Garden centre very nice but spoilt by very rude and abrupt women on the cash desk. Gardens are lovely though and worth visiting.
Beautiful trees shrubs and plants very well maintained. Wear good shoes as some paths are steep and others have bark chips which get into sandles!
Well maintained and beautiful grounds.
A lovely and relaxing environment with ample parking. The restaurant supplied a good range of both hot and cold meals. The staff were so helpful and polite making the day out a really pleasurable experience.
Children's quiz sheet brought fun for all the family.
Don't forget to bring a camera.
Lovely walk through the grounds but that's what you pay for, the cafe is very clean and the coffee tasty but the panini's were frankly quite tasteless apart from the pesto in it
Well laid out with a great variety of specimens. Reasonably priced
Pleasant location. Work being carried out on buildings etc. Expensive.
Great place for anyone interested in trees, good cafe also
A good trip, surprised the colours are brighter on the photos than I expected, apparently they will improve soon. Outdoor cafe, hot chocolate and millionaire shortbread 😋.
We had a lovely day here. Two coffee and cake stops! Garden centre staff were fab helping with the saddlestones and globe artichoke purchase.Thankyou.Dad and I were celebrating what would have been my parents 47th Wedding Anniversary.Thank you Batsford.. a beautiful change from your sister Westonbirt? which is our usual home.Long live the membership!
Fantastic lovely trees and really well maintained
Lovely place for a walk
What an amazing place, such stunning views x The garden centre is full of beautiful plants, trees and so much more x
The cafe has a glorious terrace and the food looked gorgeous and interesting, we didn't have time to eat there but will definately go back x
Fabulous helpful, friendly staff too xxx
Great place to visit, many trails to get lost exploring. Child and dog friendly. I visit regularly and love to see the place change throughout the seasons.
Garden centre is very comprehensive and seems to get better and better each year. With many things on sale that are slepndidly displayed among the grounds. A great way turn a generic plant purchased at a garden centre into something which becomes more of a momento of the visit.
Had a wonderful trip to the arboretum
A very pleasant walk around the Arboretum. The entry price was very reasonable. The cafe was excellent with a good variety to choose from.
Our first visit. Very impressive! Beautiful Autumn colours. :)
Lovely space to walk in. Had a 5 and 3 year old with us, was just the right size for getting around in a couple of hours before having enough and going for ice cream. I bet it's beautiful in Autumn.
Very pleasant walk with our dog.
A beautiful place, well laid-out with good paths and appropriate facilities.
Is a really great garden centre, and the botanical gardens are wonderful. There are a lot of unusual plants there, including some California Redwoods. It's also dog friendly, which is a big plus. It's a great way to spend a summer day.
A very pleasant morning was spent looking around the arboretum. We were not too late to catch the autumn colours. A useful tip at this time of year is to turn up early. We arrived about 10:00 and we almost had the place to ourselves, a bonus for getting photos without having to wait for other visitors to walk out of the viewfinder! By the time we returned to the café the ques for the entrance were stretching for quite a distance. We had a good meal at the restaurant before buying a few plants at the garden centre.
A lovely place for an autumn day-out. Enjoyed the bakewell tart at the garden cafe too!
Amazing country park and grounds.
The garden centre is great and the staff members are very knowledgeable. In particular, Verity gave us honest and insightful advice on the plants we should buy for our garden.
We found the place amazing lots of flowers in bloom some trees coming onto bud the waterfall coming from the hermits cell was a lovely place easy to get about with my buggy lovely shop and restaurant as you enter the food was very good. The attached garden centre was amazing and good prices good disabled access everywhere
Fantastic place to see trees and have lunch.
Batsford Arboretum is wonderful at any time of the year, but particularly in late Spring or early Summer. The entrance fee is very modest.
We visited the garden centre (bought some seeds) and the tea room and enjoyed the sun whilst sitting on the patio. Having walked here via public footpaths from the Caravan Club site.
We didn't visit the Arboretum itself or the adjacent Falconry Centre as we felt they were quite expensive! A shame really.
Had a great time today and found it very enjoyable. I know its for children but i followed the hedgehog trail and took lots of photos.
Excellent. Lovely coffee and ham/cheese panini.
Batsford Arboretum is child and Dog friendly.
Spent a few hours roaming around very peaceful and tranquil.
Trees from all around the world.
Great learning for children and to explore in a safe environment.
A great day out.
Beautiful and utterly peaceful.
Had a lovley walk round. Beautfiul area
Good place for a quiet wander round with some beautiful blossom on the trees
As usual Batsford was lovely, not to busy unfortunately the Magnolia where not quite in bloom but there is still something different to see every time we go.
Beautiful autumn colours. Best pastie ever.
A most pleasant place to visit with a lovely deck to sit.outside and have a coffee in good weather. Garden Centre staff are especially helpful and friendly but the stock of plants seemed low at present.
Very calming atmosphere. We visited on Good Friday before the rain came! Lots of interesting things too see plus lovely cookies in the tea room. We will be back!
Good, very nice cafe 👌
Our first visit to Batsford Aboreritum and what a perfect afternoon we chose, 16 degrees in February, wow, Spring had definitely sprung.
We will definitely be visiting again.
The only disappointing part of the day was the cafe, the young staff serving need to be taught abit about customer service, they were rushing around and not listening, we all chose a piece of cake each, all of which were TASTELESS, Cherry and Almond, no flavour, pineapple and something very odd, banana and walnut, no flavour, who ever bakes the cakes needs to do some tasting checks.
We actually all wanted a cream tea as advertised on the sign as you drive in, however not a scone to be had.... probably next time we will eat in Morton in the Marsh.
Everything about this place is wonderful. The entrance road, variety of trees, the colour.Have stayed close by but last visit just passing through so used the cafe and shop.Always buy something in the shop.
Had a wonderful afternoon in the gardens. And could not leave without s few plants from the garden centre well worth a visit.
The autumn 🍂 leaves were lovely.
Shame it rained
Very nice. We got lucky with the weather.
Very enjoyable couple of hours walking around the arboretum.
The plan was easy to follow and we'll signposted.
Lovely place to visit for a relaxing couple of hours. The cafe was clean and service good. Food basic but met our needs, only disappointment is the website listed food does not match what was available in the cafe.
Very relaxing environment, good for long walks while enjoying unique plants and trees. We were really happy we could take along our dog, Max. The entire day was really refreshing.
Botanical garden or park, this place has many magnificent and rare trees. Went because my RHS membership listed it as a partner garden.
Also has interesting shop and nursery selling unusual types of plants such as monkey puzzle trees. There is also a woodcraft shop on site.
Beautiful place, so many autumn colours. Shop and restaurant also brilliant.
Great place with beautiful gardens. Go as often as we can
On a cold, bright Autumn day the Arboretum was everything you would expect, mother nature putting on a brilliant colourful show. You are able to see a lot without stepping off the pathways, but get your stout boots on and get in amongst it all, so much to see. Now, after your walk, the jewel at Batsford is the Gallery restaurant, scrumptious fresh food and all homecooked. Only, maybe 3 or 4 mains but changing all the time as one dish runs out. Tasty cakes and pastries. One dislike-the cardboard coffee cups. Well stocked shop and garden centre, and must not miss the falconry display, good day out.
People very friendly. Beautiful trees, waterfall and walk would highly recommend thanks .
Amazing forestry. Well labeled trees etc. Benches around to sit on as it is a lot of walking. Good paths & trails. Interesting landscape & history.
Beautiful park with lots of variety. Especially pretty on the spring. Big enough for a leisurely stroll or a run and nice activities for kids too. Seems to get busy later in the day.
Beautiful and superb to have a gentle stroll.
We had a lovely walk around Batsford today. The Red Woods are so impressive.
Really great day, so relaxing. Staff brilliant.
Great place for a walk through the trees. Beautiful autumn colour at the moment
Great day out wandering the grounds, followed by a superb lunch.
You get 9 out of 10 from my personal covid-19-safe league table!
Well done for creating a space where we feel safe from Covid-19!
The sign saying 'Please wear your face mask while in the cafe building and only remove to eat or drink and replace when finished' was particularly welcome.
I would have given you 10 out of 10 - but the restuarant staff did not draw our attention to the NHS Track and Trace system - this was also unnecessarily complicated for people without mobile phones or phones on Android.
Shut on the day we were there due to bad weather. The garden centre was excellent.
Just stopped off for a coffee and very pleasantly surprised, great coffee and cake. Lovely garden shop, will definitely go back
Peace and tranquility amongst a beautifully landscaped Victorian arboretum. Large variety of mature trees.
Very nice, we went early for 10am and there was no queue but as we were leaving at 12.30 the queues were long. Nice cafe and garden center too.
Lovely autumn colour. Good place to spend an afternoon walk.
Beautiful selection of trees, stunning peaceful walks. Great garden centre on site.
Amazing place reall can rest
Nice place to walk in Covid times, when most of the places are closed anyways and there is a fear of not able to maintain social distancing, batsford arboretum provide plenty of space to walk and experience exotic plants from the around the world... has a toilet facility at entrance gate, good size car park, cost around 7 pounds per person... discount for family, shop open if you want to buy plants, loved the entrance to garden ... easy access to prams and wheelchairs....
We spent a beautiful sunny day at Batsford on the 28th may, visited 3 times now and always find something new to discover.Thankyou for a wonderful experience into the trees, lovely acers and wild flowers, not forgetting the visit to see the woodturner making such fascinating items with all types of wood. Many Thanks again.Josie and Michael x
Superb service. Phoned up about achillea 'the pearl' which is a very hard plant to get a hold of . Had the plant in stock at a very reasonable price and put aside for me as I had some distance to travel. I arrived to find as promised that the plants had been put aside at the till.
Lovely woods/ gardens, made for a very pleasant Sunday stroll. Decent cafes too.
Great. Loved the elf hunt. Coffee was a bit pants but we weren't there for coffee! Friendly staff. Lovely walk.
Lovely garden on a steep slope, and an excellent garden centre. Onsite cafe offers good vegan options
Beautiful place. So peaceful! A pop up takeaway cafe was open selling food and coffee - fantastic 👍
Absolutely stunning. An amazing place for a day out. Dog friendly and lovely staff.
A very relaxing and wonderful place. Really great wandering through the arboretum.Good garden centre and shop. A bargain for the price!!

A lovely place nice gardens.
Lovely gardens and great cafe. Garden centre is really good and staff very helpful.
Lovely place to wander amongst the trees especially today when there were blue skies sunshine and fabulous colours
Huge garden centre, lots to browse through. Arboretum closed because of coronavirus restrictions. Restaurant was excellent, delicious meal.
Great day walking with the dog. Shame about the weather. Dogs bathed and the car can be cleaned another day. Beautiful place!
Lovely place to visit and buy trees and plants because they are a very well selected and high quality. We will go back over and over again for the wonderful setting it is.
Poor attitude towards members of partner attractions. Entry to Batsford is included as part of a "Friends" of Westonbirt membership, however, even though entry for children is included in that membership, it does not extend to Batsford. Expect to pay extra to take your kids in!!! Not what we were expecting and dealt with very abruptly by supervisory staff.
============================================
Update - Batsford have since updated their policy for friends of Westonbirt. They now allow free entry for children of Friends of Westonbirt!!
Lovely garden, very hot on the day we visited but a few shady areas to cool down. Well worth a visit!
Absolutely fabulous!
It turned out to be a lot smaller than we expected. We also visited Hidcote and Blenheim Palace during our trip and found those to be more exciting
Excellent mature gardens in a beautiful setting, just make sure you wear sensible shoes. Steep and requires reasonable effort to get round.
Lovely place to visit specially now in October to November with autumn colour
Beautiful woods and scenery walks. Restaurant was excellent also.colours were spectacular.
Lovely afternoon at the Arboretum. Beautiful autumn colours. Well laid out. Worth a visit.
We stopped at the cafe today for coffee and cake.

Combination of great walk through trees + good restaurant + very good plant nursery. Also adjacent to Falconry Centre to make a full day.
The 56 acres provide the opportunity for a lovely walk through the trees - esp lovely in Autumn.
Lovely time in the arboretum but coronation chicken sandwiches had very little chicken and masses of sultanas.
Tasty quick food always 1 fish 1 meat and 1 vegetarian every day well worth a visit
Great place will be coming back soon
Gorgeous grounds made for a great afternoon out with the dog. Lots of steps taken for Covid security too

A very beautiful and peaceful place, if you love Giant Redwoods I strongly recommend!
