Reviews of Upper Lode Lock - River Severn
What a beautiful place to spend some quiet time. Only a shirt walk away from Tewkesbury town centre and well worth it for the stunning scenery. Highly recommend a trip across whilst in Tewkesbury.
A fascinating lock on the river. There were harbour porpoises in the area around the weir
It's something to see if a boat is coming through the lock, but not really worth the journey. Quite a pleasant walk, but a bit of a dead end for the visitor.
Lovely spot along the canal will definitely come again .food looked amazing even tho I didn't have any
Nice place for a walk, but watch out for teenagers at the weekend. Smoking weed!!!
Out from Upton Marina on a training day. Safe locking procedures followed on from man-overboard drills. The lady lock-keeper on duty was particularly helpful and let us practice in slow time amongst the other river users, including cruisers, a sailing vessel, & a narrowboat. A thoroughly good day all round.
Beautiful, peaceful and close to town centre.
Nice to sit by and listen to the rush of water
Really nice little path that runs by the river. A few places for the dog to go swimming and it opens up to a field good for throwing the frisbe or a ball. Would definitely go again
Very high today👍
Lovely to walk with dogs or not
Stunning place. The river looked appealing on a very hot day. The riverside was alive with dragonflies and young people cooling off.
Always been very good but on Monday 16 Aug up 12 o'clock down at 3 o'clock both ways the gate's were shut close to the back of our boat and paddle,s opened before we were roped whitch spun us 90° in a 22 ft boat not nice and very upsetting, also broke my boat hook trying to control it x
In the early spring and during lockdown it was quiet. Very bumpy track to get to it and narrow which is to be expected. Lots of views if walk a short distance.
Very relaxing place to walk
5 stars for interest 2 minus for the fact i ran aground in the middle of the chamber... even though river levels arnt particularly low at the moment.
Travelled through on a narrowboat. Control by a lock keeper.
Great lock keeper.friendly and informative
Beautiful location, especially during a sunset. Lots of places to walk, perfect for a dog.
