Reviews of Tropical Birdland

Absolutely love this place. Very entertaining for all ages. You can get really up close to the birds here and (most) are well behaved! Just be careful as some do nip! Very nice food from the cafe and a big play area for the kids. This is probably my forth visit and I thoroughly enjoy it every time!

Great place to spend the time and have a fun. Fantastic place for the families.
Plenty of parrots. Some of parrots are sitting outside so you can touch them, feed or hold on your hand/arm. A lot of very big and colorful parrots as well as very tiny.
Except the birds there is a small wood to walk and the picnic area with the playground.
There is a shop and the coffee shop with snacks and the ice creams.
Car park free of charge. Few toilets.
I was really enjoyed the trip there and I made some good photos of birds.
Yes, I recommend this place. Especially for the children who like the animals.
A. S.
Really well set up and so cheap considering how much it usually costs to take a family on a day out. Plenty of opportunity to handle the various birds. The food for humans is well priced and tasty. It doesn't cost a lot for food for the birds either. I would recommend you go at opening times if you wish to feed the birds as they'll be constantly fed throughout the day and therefore not be very hungry by 1pm.
100% will be going again

This place was actually amazing! We decided to take a family trip out as we were in the area to this gem. I thought it would just be an average bird land with cages up bird but it was actually very very nice.
There are tropical cages parrots some of which are massive as well as small budgies. Some of the cages are open walk in ones where you can actually pick the birds up yourself and play around with them.
The best part is the huge open land where there are more than 50+ tropical parrots all in the same place where you can just go up and they will come onto your arm. Hold them as long as you want, let them go on your shoulder etc.
Fantastic experience and the cost was only £10 for adult entry!
100% worth a visit and easily spent 2-3 hours there

My second visit here with the grandchildren and they've loved it on both occasions. There's a wonderful collection if exotic birds, some in aviaries and others flying free. Get some bird feed when you enter and you'll really enjoy your visit.

This place is great for all ages and abilities.
Wheelchair friendly.
Loads of different birds to see and at the end you can get up close and personal with handling them, they have a very large area with plenty feed and encourage onto your hands/shoulder etc. There are great knowledgeable staff around to help and interact with.
There is also a reasonable cafe on site which is reasonably priced and food is of good quality

If you suffer from ornithophobia don't go here. A very well thought of and laid out place to visit if you like birds of the feathered variety. A great selection of birds that will quite happily come and perch on you and eat birds treats from your hands. Staff are very friendly and on hand if you get too much attention from a macaw. Very good value money, clean and pleasant facilities. Cafe menu is a little limited and as you find in a lot of places slightly high price for what you get but it is what it is, a great day out and will definitely return in the future 👍

What a lovely little place !! On our way to Kenilworth, thought we'd stop off and have a look. Some gorgeous birds, beautiful colours, loads of information on each aviary, and many many free flying parrots, etc. All looked really well cared for. A little woodland walk, a well priced cafe. The obligatory shop to walk through on the way out. Reasonably priced - us old folk were £7.35, but a family of 4 was £31 - which, for what you've got here, is very good value. Play area looked good. Loads of picnic benches. Several toilet blocks ... and loads and loads of birds, many tame and happy to sit on your shoulder.
T. S.
A really great day out with or without kids, Birdland is really carefully thought out and completely unlike what we expected. Unlike bird areas in a traditional zoo; this is very interactive, with well crafted walks through aviaries, a short woodland walk for a bit of peace and quiet and an open area full of all types of tropical birds to feed, touch, and allow to climb all over you! We had been meaning to visit for a long time and were super pleased we did, although with a little one a weekday is probably quieter as it got very busy. Plenty of gravel car parking, decent toilets with baby change and a cafe - although this had a bit of wait.

A great place, I especially recommend it to people who are struggling with depression, although it is quite loud there, Birds allow you to calm down and give a lot of tenderness, you can feed them, although sometimes they can grab a finger 🥰, clothes preferably with a zipper, no buttons, earrings, chains, the camera is also nibbled. Great place, I will go back there at least once a month. I started sightseeing at 12:30 pm left with closing at 4:30 pm.
There is a cafe where you can eat a hot meal and drink, there are toilets, a large playground for children, a place to sit outside
C. E.
Great venue for getting close to many exotic birds.
Children will love feeding and having parrots climb all over them.
There is a play area and cafe serving hot and cold refreshments.
The range of exotic birds is impressive.
B. C.
It was amazing
To know that so many lovely birds are free to fly around and be happy is so sweet!
Staff are so kind and will help you out or answer questions. Definitely recommend going as it’s an incredible experience to be hands on with the birds.
C.
Fantastic zoo offering a rare chance to get up close with the amazing birds in their care. Huge thank you to Jamie who introduced us to a few of the parrots and gave us lots of information about the birds, both the about the species in general and the individual birds themselves. The staff clearly care deeply about all of them, the facilities are great and overall it's an excellent visit - highly recommend!

An absolute top class place to visit. There was nothing but smiles on all our faces at todays visit. It’s set out lovley, the birds are all so well cared for, and I even loved the goats! Fell in love with a gorgeous blue bird called Neville, I think he was a macaw of some sort but I’ve forgotten. Entry price is extremely reasonable and you just can not go without buying bird food. I suggest buying every sort going. If you limit yourself to one sort you’ll miss out feeding some of the birds. The cafe was amazing!!! The little birds nest cheesecake was absolutely delicious.
The bird walk at the end is the highlight of the visit, so many of the birds happily climb onto your arm, shoulder or head! Even my wheelchair didn’t phase them.
Honestly I highly recommend a visit here! We loved it and plan to sponsor Neville and visit often.
W. A.
We had a great day looking and interacting with the amazing collection of exotic birds they have here. The staff are fantastic and always there to help. There knowledge is great too. We will return, we can't recommend this place enough. Highly recommended *****
J. B.
Apart from the little blue darling on my shoulder eating my cap, it was a wonderful time. No rushing around. A nice peaceful environment and a wonderful collection of birds. Be ready for them to get curious and sit on your shouder or arm but its a lovely experience. I would recommended it to anyone who is not nervous around birds. 🐦🥰
N. W.
Came for the first time with my daughter today. I think I loved it more than she did! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was lovely. Yet to sample to cake but looks amazing 👏
Z. H.
We had a great experience for the family yesterday to be able to see, feed and carry Tropical Birds here in the UK. We saw Macaws and Parrots of different colours, there were other birds at Tropical Birdland such as flamingo's and a few Owls.
I would suggest you take your own monkey nuts and walnuts to feed the macaws
The price of admission is value for money and reasonable.
Highly recommend everyone to pay them a visit.
P. B.
Get really up and close to some if the most prettiest parrots/macaws. The birds are very friendly, buy some nuts and watch how a parrot can open a walnut close up! Just £2 for a small bag. 60+ seniors go for £7.35 (2022), not sure about children. Be a little careful with those little kiddies, although the parrots gently take the walnuts off you and are quite tame, they still have a beak and claws which are quite sharp. I'm wearing a thick coat, a thin tee shirt wouldn't be advisable! Maybe a small towel on their shoulders?
Well worth the money for an afternoon out.

What a lovely place to visit. good for family fun in woodland walk.
They got some slides 🛝 for kids and family picnic area.Free car park. Adult entry fee 9.75 famliy of 4 31£
if you are birds lovers just visit this place you will be amazed.
I. P.
Really amazing day out. It's lovely to be able to get up close to so many birds. There is a large variety of birds to see. Something for all the family. Also wheelchair accessible. Has multiple walks and open bird areas.
There is lots of parking and the staff are very friendly. It is just outside of leicester.
There is also a little cafe and shop, selling nice sandwices and some hot food also.
I would definitely recommend this place.
T. R.
Absolutely amazing place. The birds are incredible. First aviary I walked up too, I hear a hello from a ball of green feathers. We had birds land on our head in one of the feeding aviarys. And the walkway at the end... I'm speechless. So many birds, 80% will let you hold them. Everyone happy to be fed of course
All the staff are very welcoming and local weekly visitors are very informative. We have now become sponsors.
A. S.
Brilliant place..... Great for families young and old.... Very reasonably priced.... Make sure you get the extra food pack to tempt and feed the birds - they will love you for it!.....
P. T.
Amazing Place to visit, friendly staff, free parking , clean Facilities.
Feeling of so close to the birds can’t be described in words.
A Must visit for all ages ( if you like birds )
S. B.
Lovely day out, great to be able to feed and hold the birds.
Really fab play area!
Didn't try food in cafe but area looked clean with lots of seating inside and outside (including covered seating outdoors).
D. R.
We had an enjoyable experience, the birds are beautiful, especially the hands on experience at the end with the feeding. There were plenty of staff assisting and appeared very knowledgeable and kind. There is a nice cafe and play area for the kids to free play too. It is a nice smaller place that didnt feel overcrowded in the school holidays like some places do. We stayed for 2 hours with my 11 and 12 year old but others stayed longer depending on their kids level of interest. Like all animals the birds can peck and nip you and their claws are sharp so suggest long sleeves if wanting to handle and guard your ears! Lol
C. S.
Great day out for the family. We took a picnic but they do have a cafe if u prefer that. You can stay aslong as you like and can buy food to feed the birds as u go along.
S. G.
Really lovely place and the big surprise is at the end where you get the birds climbing on you of their own free will, with no time limits. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable.
You will see some plucked birds but this has happened with previous owners and the feathers will not grow back. Also fantastic to see the free flying parrots.
T. B.
What an amazing experience. I know I loved it. And the kids were soo amazed and loved every moment of it. If you are passing, you soo need to come. Children are scared, but they get to leave loving it, as mine did.
G. M.
Amazing place, great value for money and not too busy.
The fact you can stay as long as you want and handle the birds at your own leasure is just fantastic.
We all enjoyed our day here and it is great for adults as well as kids of all ages
A. P.
Absolutely lovely experience I was truly enjoying the experience but the end is what really sold it for me being around all the Birds with no cages no boundaries and allowing them to climb on you is so fun definitely recommend it to any bird lover be careful tho they can nip at you as I found out the hard way 😂
W. M.
Unique place with a wonderful range of birds. It's very loud so not great for autistic children. You can feed and hold birds. Play area for children too. Cafe onsite.
J. W.
Looking for something to do for 2-3 hours. This place is perfect. Myself, wife and kids loved it. We used to live 10 minutes away and never went!! Now much further away we payed our first visit and wondered why we never went before moving!
N. S.
Tropical Birdland is an amazing and unique day out, whether you have a day to yourself or wish to take the entire family.
I'm a big bird fan so this place is always amazing!
But I'd also recommend it to:
Anyone thinking of getting a bird of their own (you can learn so much here about care and the differences between species);
Or even anyone that may have a phobia of birds, this is a good place to overcome it, to be as near to the birds as you want (or keep a distance and just watch!), then you can hold or play with them if you start to feel more comfortable.
At the start you'll walk around the aviary section, with various birds including owls, various macaws, toucans, kookaburras, african greys, caiques, keas, cockatoos and more. Some aviaries you can go into - such as parakeets, exotic wild birds and fowl, cockatiels. The parakeets especially are very playful! Also as you walk around you'll see flamingoes, goats, koi carp...plus there's a peaceful wild woodland walk at the top of the site. Throughout all this there will also be free flying parrots around, and even some wild birds such as sparrows and robins will visit.
After that, you'll pass into the Parrot Path, the large open area full of various kind of free flying parrots and even some doves. These birds love to interact and play - the species here include various caiques, conures, cockatoos, lories, parakeets, galahs, macaws, greys... make sure you have treats (which you can get at the entrance booth or in the shop later).
The cafe is great with really good food and drink - if you take it outside the birds might ask to share (or...not ask haha).
Towards the exit you'll find a gift shop which has souvenirs, toys, gifts and parrot food (if I could make one recommendation it would be to also sell parrot toys and treats we could take back to our own birds!).
Also on site are a kids play area, seating, toilets, sinks, and sanitisers.
There are lots of staff throughout the site that are always friendly and helpful - this is especially good on the parrot path where they can chat about any individual bird or species (and even help return birds to their perch if they've become a bit too comfortable on you!). Some birds can be a bit nippy, if not used to that then ask the staff which are the more gentle ones to hold, or best way to interact with them.
We are also in the sponsorship program which I highly recommend, if you support their work and want to visit more often. For a monthly cost you'll get an admission pass, treats, your names on a board (you choose the location on the site) and maybe other benefits. Prices differ but basically works out at £5 per person per month.
As a charity, sponsors and donations are a huge help to them. Even when I can't visit as often as I'd like it's always good to know I'm helping the birds each month, and with each visit I see improvements such as new aviaries built etc!
Location is easy to find in Desford in rural Leicestershire.
Be aware to dress for the weather as it's outdoors and there may be a bit of mud at times! Also if you want to interact with birds then consider your clothing before you head there, birds are fascinated by things like buttons, sequins, straps, etc...and also they love jewellery so remove earrings and such!
j. h.
Great place, lovely to be able to handle the birds although prepare for a few nips! Prices are fair, enjoyable for all ages, easy to get around with a pushchair & wasn't overly crowded. We had coffees and food in the tea rooms, great choice of food and drinks, good size servings and nice dairy alternatives available. We had a lovely day out.
J. L.
Absolutely loved it.. Not a big place but so much to see. Very reasonable to get in and cafe prices reasonable too
I have a real soft spot for beautiful Mango. My favourite part is at the end where you can interact with the beautiful birds. The staff are really helpful and friendly
One comment though.. We visited again on the recent good friday.
As we arrived there was a big group of school kids. They weren't youngsters and it was not nice to hear them screaming and shouting, distresseing some of the birds. The ones we saw were the two owls. They were frantic flying away squarking and flapping their wings
I understand the kids are excited but please teachers try and calm them down
They are at the poor birds home after all
It's our third visit and won't be our last.
V. B.
Tropical Birdland is an absolute gem. Beautiful birds which quite a few fly free and can be handled and fed. Very knowledgeable friendly staff and a lovely cafe on site with reasonable prices. I will definitely be back again and again. I feel so lucky living in Leicestershire that this place is near by. A must for any bird and animal lover.
R. M.
Love Love Love this place🥰 when visit, I get lovely surprise by a cute little bird that just lay down in my shoulder. Walk around the place and they have many tropical bird, cuye owl also cute and rare parrots. All of them are very good handle and take care. I would recomend this place if you like to interact with bird as parrots directly. Nice!
D. J.
The Birdland park was very nice. Lots of birds to see and the bird walk was the best as we get to have them on us for photos. Nice picnic area too.
M. W.
Wow what a hidden gem. I loved this place where you can literally interact and feed each and every bird. Usually places like this would make you buy their food but you can actually bring your own nuts to feed the birds with (check their site or ring them to check which ones are safe not all nuts are) the staff were friendly and informative and the birds love the human interaction
j. p.
Visited this place for first time, as my eldest really likes bird's. Not a huge place, but a fantastic experience, being able to be so close to the birds and able to feed them.
K.
Had a fab time with my grandkids assorted ages and they all loved it . Lovely cafe and gift shop and the staff are so nice as well . Would definitely recommend.
L. W.
An absolutley amazing place to visit. Fantasic staff. Birds clearly very well looked after and so friendly. Had the best afternoon and cant wait to return. Fell in love with I think its name was tullah. Took a liking to me😍. Highly recommend
H. Q.
Lovely experience for the whole family. Great fun feeding and petting the birds. Large variety of tropical birds.
M. H.
Loved our visit to tropical birdland. We visited on mothers day so it was a little busy but was expected. The birds were amazing and the interaction you got with the birds was great. Worth highlighting that some of the birds in the walkway area were a bit nippy but we figured that was to be expected.
One comment on the cafe is that they could do with changing the furniture it takes up way too much room so it feels a little crammed in when busy, but food and service was great.
Overall a great visit.
Just a quick watch out, if you get the SMS tickets dont use the post code on the sms. Its incorrect. Takes you to a village not to far away but wasnt helpfull (this was on my motherday sms booking so may have been unique).
C. M.
Really nice little place for the kids I enjoyed it very much its not a massive place but worth the admission price cafe to pricey would recommend taking a pack up lunch or picnic
R. B.
Wonderful place! Loved the birds. So great to see them all happy and many free to fly around out of their cages. I have never seen so many parrots free and so content to be around humans. Mango came around the whole place with us as you can see. Great fun for the kids work walk and play area. Happily go back there again. They are gearing up too, putting in nice accessible paths for people. Soon be looking even better for visitors in that respect.
M.
Had a wonderful experience visit the Bird-land with the kids. Kids loved interacting with the birds and overall a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
A. P.
Lovely place for a day out. Not too big but definitely enough to spend some quality time there :-) opportunity to touch or feed parrots.
There is a big playground for kids age 4+ and some swings for those younger than 4. There is also a cafe with hot/cold drinks, hot/cold food, outside and inside sitting area.
L. J.
Apt place for those who love bird's. Highly recommended for all ages. Wide variety of birds from different parts of the world 🌎
R. C.
What a great day out! Lots of different birds. Many are tame and will come and sit on you. Nice woodland walk, playground and cafe. Good value to money at £31 for a family of four. Staff without exception were helpful and friendly. Would definately return.
A. W.
Great place with lots of interaction with the tropical birds if wanted. Great outdoor play area, tea room and gift shop. Definitely worth the reasonable entrance fee.
S.
This is an amazing place, the chance to interact with some of the most beautiful parrots you can imagine. Great staff and high quality food in the cafe. I can't recommend this hidden gem enough
J. W.
Great place to visit, been before with my Grandchildren, this time with a friend it was a little chilly but this made little difference the birds seemed happy to see us, they were trimming up for the Christmas events which looked impressive, nice Cafe the ladies toilet with wonky seats needs a bit of maintenance but everything else 10 out of 10 especially enjoyed feeding the birds nuts near the end
R. P.
Great being able to see such lovely birds, they are all very tame and there are good facilities. Toilets, hand washing, cafe with plenty of seating inside and out. Park and play area with slides, swings etc and a little gift shop.
C. C.
Well what a shock this place was, my wife wanted to take our little girl here for some time, and today finally was that day.
I must say the trip was worth it and even the poor weather couldn't spoil it.
Our little girl loves the outdoors and birds and animals and there was plenty too see and do.
So many lovely birds which we got to feed some shy and some who simply made you fall in love.
We very much recommend this place for short to medium trips and highly recommend the end as there are birds of all kinds on branches or ropes and some so friendly they want you to strike them
Some which came such good friends with they didnt want to go back on there branches
C. I.
Amazing place to visit, especially for children (…and obviously bird lovers!). Spent a good few hours there.
There’s a wide variety of birds to see, and multiple areas where you’re able to get up close with them and even have them perch on you if you like.
Even wild birds come to visit - a lovely robin ate some mealworms out of my hand! There is also a nice Woodland trail to spot wild birds on.
I’d recommend buying the multi-variety package of bird food as different birds can only eat and/or prefer specific food types. Look out for the different coloured circles on the areas/enclosures to know what those birds prefer and can be fed.
For those bringing children, there is a great good sized play area nearby to the café and picnic benches to sit at.
A. C.
Such a lovely place, the birds are well kept and seem very happy. The best bit for me is the hands-on areas during the walk and at the end. Overall, an amazing family day out.
G. T.
Great place for a trip, lots of beautiful birds. Lots of parking, kid friendly.
M. L.
Brilliant family day out for a reasonable price. If you or your family members are interested in parrots, I would certainly recommend a visit.
B. F.
What a lovely place to visit. Birds so well looked after and so nice how you can feed them and spend time with them. Always someone on hand to help out with the birds, if they get too interested in your clothing. My boys all loved it and would happily go again.
n. a.
Been here twice with my children, Absolutely Amazing place ,lovely little day out, stuff are helpful and lovely. If you’ve not been there you have to try it it’s wonderful 😍
S. K.
Lovely to get up close to some of the most amazing tropical birds. Staff are friendly, the birds are amazing although some might bite you, that could be due to the heat of today (was 27 degrees!). Great day out with family and kids. The kids really enjoy feeding the birds as bird food is available to buy at reception. Avery are lovely too birds will come and sit on your hands etc.
Cafe is nice too & even has a outdoor play area and seating while eating.
Definitely recommend to visit here.
B. W.
1st visit great for kids , play area ,and a cafe ,you able to hold some birds buy food to feed ,kids really enjoyed this ,definitely will return .
G. s.
Good fun for all family, great food, nice souvenirs to buy. Highly recommend 👍
P. D.
Great place to go if you want to get up close with parrots of all sizes. Free flying macraw are a fantastic sight!
A. J.
Lots of tropical birds mainly parrots family. Good for kids to learn about their habitat. There is a bird path where they'll sit on your shoulder and you can feed them
L.
Always happy to return. Glad to see the place have had some refurbishment and looks even better. Birds looked after and staff very welcoming and friendly.
D. P.
Awesome experience with birds flying up on your shoulders. But I'd recommend long sleeves and a hoodie that you don't like, it will get destroyed.
C.
An absolutely fantastic place for bird lovers.
Very family friendly and so many species of birds. From budgies all the way to huge Hyacinth Macaws
There are some enclosure where you can get close to some birds and feed them. But fair warning, they love stealing anything button shaped or shiny objects! My hoody was a big hitter with the parrots chewing the drawstrings. Not that I mind!
Absolutely visit here, I can't recommend enough.
T. L.
I love this place. This is our 3rd visit and didn't disappoint. It was clear to see they've made a few improvements since our last visit which was good to see.
We love the bird walk at the end where many birds roam freely and you can feed and hold them but be careful! Some can be mischievous but are harmless. Staff are around to step in if needed.
We didn't want to leave!
Will definitely be back again I'm sure.
Keep up the good work to all the staff.
D. O.
Loved it, loads of birds to see and nice to see so many had their cages open so they could go in or out as they liked. Big open area where the birds all sit outside and people get to see them up close or hold them.
N. M.
A small but lovely place.
Bought some bags of food to feed the birds, and enjoyed feeding them. The parrots and birds at the end were so friendly they would come on your arms and sit and let you stroke them. Well worth a visit.
P. M.
We had a lovely few hours here with our granddaughter. There are plenty of seats where we could enjoy the amazing birds. The facilities are very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The cafe is excellent and very reasonably priced.
The playground gave us a welcome break whilst she went off and played.
T. S.
Beautiful place, very peaceful and the birds are amazing. Lots will fly and rest on your shoulder. Buy some treats at the entrance for 1.50 or the full treat bag for 4.50 that contains, walnuts, peanuts, fruit, worms and grains.
V. H.
We love visiting here and our visit to santa was no dissapointment. Our boys, 8 and 9, enjoy seeing feeding and holding the birds. We always have an enjoyable visit and there are always staff about to help with handling and confidence with the birds.
Our santa experience was enjoyable and reasonably priced, we have put presents under the tree so unsure what presents are, but for £15 to include entry price we think is fab!
Santa was really engaging and Friendly, along with Mrs clause!
There is a car park which is free, a big play area suitable for older kids too and there is outdoor seating. You can take a picnic and make a bigger day of it, but a couple of hours was enough for us; it was A tad cold for that when we visited.
There is a large cafe which serves hot food, drinks and cake, service can be slow here though.
You can buy different foods for different birds at the kiosk when entering. We particularly enjoy feeding meal worms to the smaller birds who come and sit on your hand.
D. C.
Amazing place to visit for small and big. I enjoyed a very beautiful day here where I seen and played some beatiful exotic birds. Overall I spent around 3 hours here.
K. H.
Excellent day out at this birdworld sanctuary . Lots of different Parrots and flamingos etc. Great area to handle and pet/feed Parrots . Well laid out for spending a good few hours and plenty easy parking. Picnic areas and cafe for snack meals etc. Lots of areas to wash your hands .Good dedicated staff.
S. P.
Great place to visit with children../good to be able to interact with the birds at the end
G. L.
We have just been to see santa here x it was a wonderful way to see santa and the elves. Our 6 yr old little boy loved the magic xxx the gift was amazing x it's a dragon colouring book with some great colours , it was out and being coloured in as soon as we got home xx
A. B.
Plenty of free parking, some spots even provide a shade if it's a hot summer day. Much to see and experience. Birds will walk or fly out from their cage if they are willing to do so or you can enter their aviary and get closer. Lovely place to visit, highly recommend. Sponsors and donations encouraged.
L. G.
Great place for all the family. You get too hold the birds at the end. Lots of fun facts around the place too . Had a lovely playground and cafe or you can take your own picnic and use the sitting areas provided.
D. P.
Absolutely amazing place to visit. My wife and I absolutely loved it. Not only is this place full to the brim of beautiful birds to feed, pet and interact with its truly wholesome knowing a lot of these are rescue parrots, the work these guys do is brilliant.
Will be making this place a regular visiting place.
Bought a large plush from the shop too! Great prices and the staff are super friendly, highly educated in their knowledge of all the birds and a pleasure to be around.
T. S.
We visit Tropical Birdland a few times a year with two children. This is easily one of our favourite places to visit. It is affordable and there are lots of beautiful birds to see, handle and feed. There is a lovely cafe which serves a range of hot and cold foods that is reasonably priced. There is also seating available for a picnic and a park for the youngsters to burn off some steam.

Oh my days, what a place! A hidden gem if you love animals/birds. Massive amount of interaction and fun. Need a parrot on your head, yes you can! Easy to make your way around, plenty of birds to look at in their enclosures, then at the end, the best bit, around 40 or so parrots, parakeets etc all free to roam, or walk on you, crawl up you, eat your clothes, and pinch any food you have left. An absolutely brilliant day for kids and adults, fantastic value and a laugh all the way round. I can't emphasize enough how much fun we had. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere. Halpful staff. And Birds are so beautiful and friendly
K. R.
Great experience for the Grandaughters, staff were very helpful when they wanted to have a parrot on them
A.
I took my granddaughter today by far one of the best Santa's we have been to see.
A good quality gift which was appropriate for her age. Really well organized.
The weather was awful but didn't spoil the experience at all, all the birds still entertained. Would highly recommend going. Will be doing the night trail next year aswell.
J. M.
Entry not overpriced, however the bird food for sale was expensive especially as the birds didn't want to come over for the food. Well run and plenty to see
J. W.
Had a lovely day out today. Admission is £9.95 for adults. There are lots of birds in aviaries and some of them are open so the birds can come out if they want to! There are lots of macaws but lots of other birds too. Owls, hornbills, kookaburra, flamingo, conures and african Grey's. There are lots of birds not in cages near the exit. The keepers are very knowledgeable, they also know which birds prefer men or women! There is a budgie aviary you can go in and the birds are happy to land on you and let you stroke them. We stayed for about 90 minutes but could have stayed longer if it hadn't rained!
E. S.
Fantastic to see the tropical birds, loads of parrots that you can be up close too and even hold and hand feed. Great play area for the kids and picnic area and cafe.
Not the cheapest of entry when asking to limit stay to 2 hours, and then charge a booking fee for paying on line which currently there is no alternative. Also have to pay for small amount of food. Would be nice if this was included in entrance fee.
Very friendly helpful happy staff. All in all a great experience and enjoyable trip out.
A. G.
The staff did such a great job, our all-adult group had a lovely time for my husband's 30th and spent several hours there. Big thank yous to Charlotte and Courtney.
We had a lot of sweet, silly and sometimes crazy moments with the birds. Spacious and even though it was the weekend, it didn't feel crowded.
The cafe did a phenomenal job making us afternoon tea- generous food for the price, set up space for us and all was delicious and beautifully put together. Great scones, big sandwiches and big scotch eggs, really delicious fruit and my family raved about the cake as well. They accommodated all of our requests and made it a really easy day.
My family is still talking about our experience days later and sharing pictures and my husband really loved it. I think if you enjoy birds and want to make some friends, being a sponsor is well worth it and visiting often gives you a great opportunity to be part of a really nice community. I am sure we will be back. :)

An absolutely wonderful day today! We had never visited before but the whole family were impressed. I'm one of those people who don't like flapping wings so this was a big step for me but I really enjoyed in. The freedom the majority of the birds have is wonderful, being able to look in the trees and see macaws in the countryside. There didn't seem to be too many staff around the place only on the parrot path but all staff we did encounter were friendly and knowledgeable and you could tell they cared deeply for the birds in their care. Recommend to everyone for a few hours of sunshine and birds!
K. S.
Amazing up close experience with stunning tropical birds of all varieties. The birds are very happy and friendly and enjoy human interaction and contact. Most will let you hold them on arm or shoulder for the ultimate bird lovers experience!
J. L.
Very good place to spend couple of hours with family/friends. It's worth every penny you pay, well maintained and organized. Nice ambience and experience with the birds. Try to wear a full sleeve thick jacket if you would like to take the birds over your hand/body to avoid sharp bird nails.
k. t.
Its was quite good lovely birds, we went with my granddaughter but on the day she wasn't feeling her best, so didn't have much interest, but following day she was better and wanted to go again, but we had other place to go. We will return another time when in the area.
S.
Been here twice now with family, lovely little day trip out and the kids love it!! Staff are lovely and the animals are all very looked after, the grounds are beautiful and the seating/eating area is lovely
Will be going back for sure
K. B.
We had a lovely family day out. We were able to feed and hold lots of different parrots and had lots of fun "chatting" to them. The staff were kind and helpful.
We also did the Santa and Snow Queen evening event. The fairy walk was just magical, my daughter had a wonderful time ☺️
I. K.
Friendly staff with a community feel setup. It’s a small place with enough to keep us occupied for an hour tops.
R. P.
A lovey little gem. First time here and was apprehensive as my kids are older, but they loved it !! Lots of birds to see around, you can also you can buy them some food to feed by hand . Cafe has some great food choices. Nice and clean . Best part was to hold them onto our arm.
L. W.
Wonderful place, lots of interaction with many parrots of all sizes, very nice cafe with food very reasonably priced, the wife would spend all day if I let her
A. T.
They have made a lot of improvements in recent years, and you get a good day out for your money. Many parrots in the large outdoor cages, but also a lovely large area where you get to be up close with many parrot species. Wear old clothes!!!! Bring grapes!
Also worth mentioning is the amount of outside seating for either picnics or for food from the cafe. ( also indoor for that ). I have to say, I was surprised by the quality and value for money of the food. Amazing huge salads, well-stuffed sandwiches, great juicy burgers and hot dogs. Huge pieces of cake. They really have made an effort. There are also special meals and sandwich deals prepared for kids. I was very impressed and told them so!
L.
Worth the trip and money ,you can see caged and free roaming parrots all over the place .
WARNING : Wear no Jewelry , Beware of Feathered thieves .
A. H.
We had an amazing time seeing all the birds. It was my child's birthday so we brought some of her friends. We were disappointed that they didn't do birthday parties or group bookings as it is definitely a missed opportunity. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we will definitely be back and recommending it to others.
M. S.
I took my girls here as they love animals, I cant recommend it enough, you get to see so many of the parrots up close & personal and my 2 & 4 year old loved it as did me & my wife. The parrots sit on you & you can feed them out in the open the staff are amazing too will definitely be visiting again x
L. R.
Great place to see some rare birds and get up close with lots of parrots excellent friendly staff...
A. K.
The best place for families and friends to explore and see different kindness birds. I do recommend to all my family and friends to go once in life and don't forget you must company with your little ones. Thumbs up to the staff members. The welcoming staff members really appreciate them.
K. B.
I pick up the bird for the first ever in my life and that was super heavy. & one bird who became my friend which was never wanted to leave. It was watching me from top of the rope till I'm visible!!!😃😀😃
E. V.
Possibly the best and most interactive "Zoo" in the country. It's quite something to look up and see the birds flying free, or have one accompany you as you walk around. Great staff, well cared for and loved birds and generally a fantastic day out.
A. L.
We were really impressed with this hidden gem (we have lived just 7 miles away since it opened in 1984 and only just learned about it). The selection of birds was excellent and the opportunities for interaction were first rate. The cafe and gift shop were very reasonably priced too. We had a great time.
J. P.
Absolutely brilliant couple of hours. Cafe nice too
M. M.
Fantastic place, very good for family and not only. We spent great time with experience of touching and feeding the parrots.🦜
D. S.
Nice family activity. Lots of tropical birds, a nice play area for the kids with cafe.
Cafe does burgers, chicken dippers, chips etc. Lots of nice cakes!
At the end theres a walk through where birds will climb and land on you while you feed them. Was by far the best bit and we spent most time in there.
M. G.
The experience was amazing and someone who isn't the fondest of birds really enjoyed the experience. The animals were beautiful and some were very funny and friendly. I would definitely recommend for all ages and people as this was honestly an amazing opportunity and can't wait to go again❤️❤️
G. D.
Fantastic little place in the heart of rural Leicestershire. We paid £31 for 2 adults and 2 children and I have to say it was money very well spent. Staff are friendly and engaging and do well to keep up with the amount of people who have requests to hold the birds. Highly recommend this place
G. S.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Loved the interaction with the birds. Lovely to have them on your shoulder and a really close look. That was our 2nd visit and we hope to be back. Hope they stay safe from Bird flu.
K. J.
Fun couple of hours feeding the birds, toilets could do with a regular cleaning checks during busy times
A. K.
One of our favourite places in the whole of UK! Brilliant interactions with the birds, ability to buy fruit/nuts/etc. to engage with them through feed (and help support the collection that's also fostering so many of ex-pets birds). Speak to the staff, they are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable.
J. M.
We have been tropical Borland for several times. It’s a place you don’t get bored visiting. Driving 2 hours from London it’s worth it every penny.
P. B.
Haven't been here for couple of years, never disappoints, if you like parrots you have to visit this place as many are flying around free as well as caged species. You can buy nuts etc to feed them & also pick them up, on site cafe, kids play area, great place to spend a couple of hours.
A. B.
It was great to have all the free roaming birds, and we had a fun experience despite a parrot mistaking my fingers for a peanut! The only downside is the walkaround is a little small, so definitely take your time to make the most out of a visit!
D. B.
Amazing!!!! This place is just the best. Had an amazing night at the Christmas event. Well done to all involved. Loved the santa walk, lights fairy's all just magical. Henry the Hedgehog what can I say you were brilliant as always. Can't recommend this place enough xx
J. B.
Best wildlife park in the UK! We made so many bird-pals - a unique and special experience.
S. J.
Awesome place to go, Birds are not all locked up in a cage all the time, they are free to fly around, they will sit on you and you can also feed them as you. An buy food from there to feed the birds. Wonderful place to visit
k. t.
A fantastic place to visit and interact with parrots. The staff were very knowledgable and caring towards the birds. The birds welfare was clearly of the utmost importance i thoroughly enjoyed the visit and in paricular getting the chance to interact with a Hyacinth macaw. I'll definitely be going back.
J. K.
Was such an amazing day out, I got to hold lots of different parrots. I would highly recommend going there. The staff are really friendly and welcoming.
M. K.
Good day out … variety of birds … a lot of tame and kids friendly birds
c. v.
Very few birds are actually active when we went. It could be probably not the right time in the noon to visit. However staff was guiding us in the right way as how we approach birds for feeding. Jungle walk insde was exciting too for kids.
L. S.
My 3rd visit in 8 months. Says it all. Every time, its a magical place to visit. Went just after lockdown was lifted and even with restrictions in place, still wonderful.
Latest visit, was allowed to let the birds climb onto you, magical, funny, exciting, great fun and educational.
I have family coming over next month, to attend, based on my previous experiences, so I shall be am visiting for a 4th time in a year and I can not wait to go again. Its a hidden gem of a place and I can not recommend it highly enough! A MUST visit for any age, any person, any time of the year.
V. S.
Is beautiful place I can recommend to friends
I. G.
We had a great time at the tropical birdland yesterday with our two grandchildren. It wasn’t until we arrived that we discovered the eldest is learning about birds at school. What a great day out. Parking is free and there is plenty of space for a picnic too.
f. m.
It is a wonderful place. Worth visiting.
R. C.
Absolutely amazing visit here today. the staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. One way system all the way round to comply with social distancing. Brilliant day out for adults and children alike! Birds were free flying with most having cages where they can come and go as they please. Birds were friendly and very interactive some even wanting a cuddle.
D. W.
Brilliant day out! Can't recommend enough. Staff were amazing and informative. Birds are very well looked after and the hands on experience is fab. Can't wait to visit again
P. O.
An amazing place to visit for people of all ages. They have hand sanitisers almost everywhere and a big sink to wash your hands towards the end, the kids love it and I as an adult enjoyed it. Never seen soo many colourful bird in my life.
L. C.
A wonderful place, all year round. Staff are fab and their winter wonderland is fantastic. Love the fairy walk and it's just all done so well. There were further improvements this year, all were noticed and appreciated. We didn't think it could get any better!
F. P.
Lovely Zoo. So much interaction with birds, caged or not. Perfect for Zoo photography!
J. M.
Fantastic day out for all ages! A big variety of birds to see and hold. Decent cafe and a park at the end for the children!
E. R.
An amazing place with an impressive range of birds. Friendly staff, great value and a lovely environment. Overall, a great covid-safe day out
N. W.
Great day out and some beautiful birds will be visiting again soon
L. N.
Fantastic! My 2 son really enjoyed, the play area is very nice and the birds are incredible! My 7yo didnt want to leave 😊 bring your own nuts ( not salty obviously) the parrots love them! Otherwise its 1.50 a bag.
A. W.
Absolutely loved this place! Will definitely be visiting again. We also saw a stoat playing in the woodland walk area, a rare sight. The staff are great and really informative on the birds. Wear long sleeve tops to visit, especially kids so they don't think the birds are hurting them with their claws. Look out for the Emu and listen to it's call, we had never heard anything like it before. They also have the birds that seal the female and her eggs into a tree and the male has to solely look after her. The walk in aviaries are a great touch and allow you to get up close and personal with the birds, as does the petting zoo at the end.
G. N.
Well worth the money. Great place
S. V. D. W.
We got our Gizmo (Galah) from Tropical Birdland from just a baby. She is now nearly 7 years old and just love her to pieces. We still regularly visit Tropical Birdland and always throughly enjoy our time there. Love the flamingos.
B. H.
This is a small zoo that specialises in tropical birds. Many birds are able to fly freely. There is a section at the end where the birds congregate and can esily be fed and will climb on you if you let them.
You can buy food to feed the birds
G. S.
Even though I have a phobia of birds, I really enjoyed it. My Daughter loved feeding all of the different birds and having them perch on her arm.
S. 6.
Took our grandson to meet Santa and the snow Queen. He loved it. So did we. Well done everyone. Will be back in the new year.
A. B.
All the birds are beautiful and they all seem so happy to be there! I was so happy wondering around and interacting with the birds- hard to not be happy when you're feeding peanuts to a tiny bird on your shoulder! Worth every penny of the entrance fee- beyond reasonable for the fab experience you get!
M. U.
An excellent day out, kids absolutely loved the birds, you get feed the birds if their up to it.
During our visit would have been great to seen a bit more staff around to assist or help in how to be around these magnificent birds. My son was in one of the enclosure with birds and they started pecking him causing him to bleed wasn't bad but could've been worse.
Parking available. The visit is not wheelchair or buggy friendly as fellow reviewers said prior, but their are benches throughout the park so if you can stop an relax and gaze at the birds or koi carps.
All in a great place with some improvement.
M. D.
nice place to visit if you need to occupy the kids for an afternoon. Admission is reasonably priced which is a plus. Various bird food bags to buy from £1.50 to £4.50. It is accessible around the area for wheel chairs, but can be a bit bumpy in some areas. But looks like they are looking to improve it. The staff with the birds were great. Very talkative and helped with holding some of the birds. The on site cafe is standard with a nice play area for the kids. Cafe staff looked like they needed to smile a bit more, but they were young weekend staff. So can be forgiven for that.
Overall I enjoyed it. Hope you do too
A. H.
I can't say enough what a fantastic place this is. We have been 3 times in 18 months and loved it. I like that it isn't a full-on day out. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, the birds are beautiful. Nice little cafe, not an extensive menu, but ok for a quick bite. Not many GF or DF options. But there's a good area for a picnic. It does get busy. Good value for money.
The birds are interactive and do sit on your shoulder/arm etc you can hand feed the majority of birds and they will talk to you.
K. A.
This is a place we try and go several times a year, as many have said it's ideal for a morning or afternoon so not too much walking and nice and flat etc.
There are plenty of parrots to see and the moment you go in you'll find yourself handing nuts out like a person possessed - the best thing about Birdland is how close you get and how much you can interact with the birds, apart from a few that need to remain caged you can let them interact and have some very good quality time with them. I've had parrots in the past so spending time with so many is great, each has its own personality and even in the time you spend there you'll soon see this. I always take a big bag of monkey nuts, some shelled walnuts (the Macaws love these and so do most of the parrots), some mixed nuts and a tub of sliced orange and a bit of other fruit ( I find a lot of the birds love oranges like satsumas) - All in all a great place to spend some time - we always have a blast when we go and look forward to our next visit.
Its good as well to see them continuing to add exhibits and features, we've used the cafe and found it was fine, a lovely cup of coffee and food was well received, there are also new handwash facilities on the way out.
S. C.
This is a great place to see and interact with tropical birds, some are in their enclosures but there is a lot of them that are loose that can be handled. They can all be fed with nuts and millet that you can buy from the shop. Please remember that they may bite you and they love buttons. The experience is fantastic.
M. D.
Utterly fantastic place. They look after the birds well. You get to feed them in their cages, see them being treated and looked after in a viewing area and at the end there is many birds outside waiting to greet you, as you can see from the pics!
The cafe is middle of the road and smells like a chippy.
N. C.
Great interaction with the birds, plenty of walk through aviaries and fab open area at the end with the birds. Best to be there earlier so the birds don't get full by the end. Cafe lovely clean area with nice selection of food - sandwiches, burgers, jackets. Kids outdoor play area really nice too plenty to do for my kids 5 & 6
P. L.
This isn't a huge place but you can spend a long time there, especially when there's a parrot sat on you! There are a lot of different birds - and some other animals - to look at and some which you can get up close with. The highlight is the last section where you can walk with, feed and hold a variety of different birds. It is good to see so many of the birds able to fly free, and they all return to their enclosures at night, so they seem to be happy enough with living in captivity.
There's a decent cafe as well allowing you to make a day of it.
S. C.
Such a beautiful place with so many wonderful birds. Could quite easily spend the entire day there. I always visit the cafe for lunch and the food is well priced and food always nice. One of my favourite places to visit and worth the nearly two hours it takes me to travel here!
B. M.
Excellent place to visit in warm, dry weather. Lots of different bird species. At the end near the cafe, you can hold many different birds. Great for ages 3+. Cafe food is good but not to much choice. Plenty of cakes. Spent 2 hours walking around. Kids play area with climbing frame, swings etc at the end.
1 golden rule.
Do NOT put your fingers in the cages.
B. H.
Very friendly staff and birds. Had a great time.
L. S.
Stunning place. Warm and helpful staff. Really beautiful area and place to be. The variety and amount of birds on display is fantastic. Can't recommend it highly enough.
N. L.
I love coming here and seeing the parrots and other birds and not forgetting the goat's. It's wonderful to see parrots in groups and having freedom. I've always wanted a parrot but I know the amount of care, attention and love they need. Here is the next best thing I get to have a parrot for a few hours. Mango (the parrot) is so sweet and stayed with me the whole time I was there, he was fast to sleep on my shoulder most of the time. Plus two large macaws tried to groom me, they were so friendly. I honestly could have taken them home. If you love parrots then topical birdland is amazing. You can buy food to feed the birds fruit mix, nut mix, meal worms and millet we bought two bag's of each and our bags were empty on leaving. We soon worked it out that walnuts and grapes were always a big hits. .
We've been taking our son here since he was a toddler and never had any concern over safety at the end of the day they are your responsibility to make sure they are safe and also teach them how to respect and treat birds and animals. Tropical Birdland offers a great day out for a family and is extremely reasonably priced. The owner opened the doors and shared his passion with the public and I'm so pleased he did. The amazing work they do here is outstanding. He obviously has got amazing team that help him run topical birdland that are helpful and friendly and a wealth of knowledge about each and every parrot.
It would be nice to know more about the parrots back story for them who have been rescued or hand reared at topical birdland. Plus if they had names so that the public could actually call them instead of "hello" the amount of times I heard people shouting hello instead of names. Especially with the parrots that want to be handled. It would be great to know their back story how they got to be at topical birdland. There is a video on YouTube that does tell you about some of the parrots and their journey in life, well worth watching.
The owner obviously cares deeply and spends lots on the environment and enclosures for these birds. We've seen how it's changed and evolved over last eighteen years.
We've had a wonderful family day out and we will be back before autumn kicks in to visit again.
Thank you for a great time after months of lock down.
K. O.
This place is amazing! The birds are kept so nicely and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Have been here twice now and intend to come again.
I have recommended this to friends and they love it. Plus it's very family friendly / inclusive for all.
R. J.
This place deserves a decent review.
When my partner booked this at first I thought it was going to be another naff gimmick as the website does it no justice, coupled with the cheap entrance fee.
I was so wrong.
This place is absolutely amazing. The variety of birds is incredible. You can be dancing with a cockatoo one minute (yes i danced) and later be chilling out having a coffee when BOOM a macaw lands next to you for a chat. You will walk away from a cage and hear a bird shout BYE! Turn around and see it waving. This place blew us all away, yes its on a small scale size wise but the birds are loose and all around you throughout and the parrot walk is brilliant. Watch out if you have shiny things as they will have them!
The staff are an absolute credit to the park, happy to answer any questions or help you out.
The food is great and huge portions for a reasonable price. Very clean and good park for the kids.
My kids 9 and 7 loved it, even my partner who was nervous around birds soon warmed up to them.
I'd give it 20 stars if I could.
K. V.
We found Tropical Birdland through a video of one of the staff members, Jaimie. We drove around 2 hours to visit birdland and it was well worth it! Staff members are amazing, birds are well kept and looked after and the sweetest. Many birds are free to go where they want to. The aviaries all look of great size and clean. And the bird path is like heaven for bird lovers. Me and my partner will definitely return and are happy to become supporters of this amazing place. Definitely recommend!
L. K.
Had the best Christmas here 2022 and whole family loved it, although did take a while for our wonderful HOT Chocolate which was fine.
W. M.
Very nice place to see plenty of birds, all different varieties/breeds and great for for kids. You can purchase a bag of food for the birds at the start and at the end you can meet and handle a large selection of birds. The toilets are available at the end with the cafe and play area for the kids. The cafe needs some work on the customer service side, so I would suggest, bring your own.
C. J.
Absolutely amazing place. Visited with my two neices 11&8 and 2 year old nephew. All three thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a really good experience for them and loved how up close and personal they could get with the birds!
N. B.
Lovely place... Great atmosphere. Well looked after birds. Staff happy to help and talk about the birds in their care.
Be careful of zips on coats... They get nibbled!
C. A.
Wonderful place to get up close and personal with a number of different birds from all over the world. You can easily spend 2 hours looking at the beautiful birds that they have. The crowning glory is the opportunity to hold a number of birds and have them climb on to your shoulder and provide some great photo opportunities. Really enjoyed my tme at this place.
A. E.
Fantastic day out, lots of parking and reasonably priced.
The birds are very friendly and gentle so i was happy to let my 2 year old feed them without worrying too much.
V. W.
Great place too visit with friendly and helpful staff. It's always a privilege to go back and handle the birds and it's great to see so many breeds together in one place. Would definitely go again and recommend everyone that reads this post to go.
L. S.
Great day out. We loved it and so did our daughter. Lots to see and feed with the ability to go in some of the cages and feed the birds. Well worth the money and a good range of birds.
M. B.
Great place to visit for all age categories. Family run business with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Reasonably priced . Nice picnic and kids playing area to relax.
S. S.
This is a really lovely place for a day out. If you are a bird lover it's even more amazing. You can buy fruit and nuts to feed the birds by hand. The first section has them in cages but they are all very tame and you can still feed them. The open section is great, they are all freely out in the open and will come and sit on you or dance to music if you're lucky! Staff were so so lovely. One gentleman in particular was absolutely great with my 5 year old who was nervous. Helped him with the birds and gave us lots of tips and info.
Nice play area for the kids also and hand washing areas. Some of the picnic benches are undercover which was great when we got caught in a shower. My only issue and the reason I left a star off is because of the cafe/restaurant. Granted it was half term but the poor staff in there were run off their feet. One person taking food and drink orders, and also having to make the drinks herself. Stood in the queue for about 30 mins just for a coffee and hot choc. This is not at all their fault, more lack of management and anticipation of how busy it would be but I really did feel for them it made the whole place look messy and manic. Overall fab place. Love the little gift shop and was happy that we could give our leftover food back to be re used and that it wasn't just wasted.
D. W.
Great place to see birds up close (some will happily come and pirch on your shoulders!). They have a few pygmy goats as well. You can also buy food to feed the birds for a small fee but it's best to do so earlier in the day when they haven't eaten so much. There's a Café, picnic tables to eat outside and a children's play area too. Good day out for all ages.
T. S.
This is well a visit for children and adults alike. It has a cafe which has reasonably priced food. You can also feed the parrots with nuts or fruit which can be purchased from the shop. The birds are well kept and some fly free. You can even go into the aviaries with the birds. Highly Recommend
S. B.
Lovely afternoon out. My girls were thoughrouly impressed with seeing and feeding all the different types of birds.
Reasonably priced. Up to 3 hours is more than enough to visit the park.
E. “. E.
What a brilliant day out, a lot of the birds are in great condition, although some which are rescues, don't look so great, please don't think that these birds are not cared for, they really are, it's sadly that state which they came to the bird world in. Parrot's are very highly strung intelligent animals who if not treated correctly, will develop mental health issues just like us.
There are all sorts of parrot's here, and the open stands where the parrot's fly free is wonderful!
Many are friendly and freely step up onto your hands. I had an African Grey who strongly objected to my shirt having buttons, which he swiftly removed, much to my amusement, he was quicker than using a stitch unpicker that's for sure!
At the entrance you can buy, fresh fruit and nuts which makes you a great hit with the parrot's.
A very well priced day out, with a lovely cafe, clean toilet's and large car park.
If you fancy a close encounter with these intelligent bird's, this is the place for you.
Z. K.
Loved it, different types of birds. You can get to hold them and its a nice family experience. Highly recommended to go for something new to try out
J. W.
I loved it!! I went with my partner and we had such a good time so many beautiful birds you can feed and pick them up and I made a friend with a cute orange birdy I fell in love.. I definitely recommend it for families and couples ect it's a great day out 😀
V. K.
Great place. Lots of parrots, you can feed them (although they are all so full, they are barely interested in more food you are trying to give to them). Couple of birds say "Hello". Good fun for kids.
K. P.
Absolutely love that place. I have been there 5 times so far and I'm planning to go again. Always friendly and helpful staff, suitable for all ages, play area and caffe with both cold and hot foods. You can feed and handle the parrots which fly freely all over the park. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
R. G.
Tropical Birdland is a sanctuary for birds. It's an unbeatable day out to learn about and get up close to some quite incredible feathered friends. Some birds are free flying and there are interesting personalities...check out for their website for characters such as naughty Neville. It's evident the staff look after the birds well and they are keen to answer any questions. Make sure you buy some nuts when you enter as it will enrich your experience. You may end up leaving the place with wounds, bruises, missing diamonds and buttons but it's such an enjoyable experience. Can't wait to return.

Was amazing experience. Seen and hold many birds. It isn’t expensive Adult ticket is £ 7.75, Kids £5.25. There are no dogs allowed which is understandable and kids under 4y go Free. There is a free car park in front which can be moody when rainy. The birds were shaking of cold which I didn’t like about this place also I think they are bothered by kids and adults way too much. You can feed them with pack of nuts or fruits which cost £1.50.
S. B.
Absolutely blew us away two adults not really knowing what to expect but loved it buy some food for the birds and they love a fuss. Bigger than expected. Take your time and enjoy.
T. M.
Absolutely fantastic day out. The birds are well cared for and the staff were knowledgeable and willing to chat about everything. There's a cafe on site which provides rather delicious food and great coffee. This was my first time visiting but I shall definitely be returning, five stars!!!
R. F.
Great place, had a lovely couple of hours here.the kids loved it, being able to get so hands on with so many lovely birds. Your able to feed and hold the birds. It's great. Would highly recommend it.
A. P.
Great day out! Such social exotic birds. There are birds which talk too! Listen out for "hello baby"..
They won't just climb on you- you will need to put your hand out to them and they will then walk up your arm. I would strongly recommend wearing long sleeves and something thick so you can't feel the claws of the birds.
It was a wonderful experience and would recommend that kids always be supervised because the macaws don't really care how old you are they will follow you for food. The birds are very loud, so they can easily scare children.
Overall, would definetely do the whole thing again!
w. h.
It was a great day out, lots of fun for the family. There are lots of birds flying around freely as you walk around who will come and sit on your shoulder if you buy the bags of fruit at the entrance.
I bit of health and safety wouldn't go amiss as lots of people we being bitten as we were heading round. My dad got bitten pretty severely cracking his nail which was a bit of a shame (Hence 4 stars not 5)
Still it was a brilliant day and I'd recommend getting a bag of fruit to feed the smaller birds as they don't bite hard and they'll get up close to get fed.
Wear rough clothes as well because some birds will land on you if you have food and take antibacterial gel to clean your hands as you go round.
The food at the cafe was also really tasty along with nice coffee.
M. M.
Great variety of birds to see all in spacious avaries, many flying free. I heard a few talking too! The tea room is great as well, catered for my gluten free needs very friendly and professionally.
M. B.
A bit overcrowded but lovely selection of birds. Great for children and adults.
D. B.
It was amazing to see all the parrots, macaws, conures and many more species at such a well looked after venue. Quite a number of the birds were flying free. We had one little conure, called Mango, who was on my shoulder before we got through the entrance and he stayed there all the way around. Well worth a visit.
M. H.
Excellent place for families/ individuals. The birds are well looked after, many are rescue birds. The staff are very knowledgeable and know all the birds by name and character. There is an area where the birds are free and can sit on outside perches. The public can hand feed them and allow the birds to walk on them if they choose. The cafe food is reasonably priced or you could take a picnic and there are lots of benches. There is a playground area for children.
K. K.
Amazing range of bird species to see! The free-flight area at the end allows you to have macaws and parrots sit on your shoulder or arm, some even talk! A few even get clingy and wouldn't want to leave my hand 😹😻🥺🦜 Even if some of them don't like most interactions, alot of them like to be fed with the nuts provided :D
B. H.
A lot of different birds to see and feed. However if you come later all the birds are already full and might not come closer to you even if you bought a bag of bird food at the entrance. There are also some cages you can enter and pet the birds which is a great experience for the little ones. There is a restaurant on site as well.
L. S.
If you like parrots, are owned by a few, this is the place to go. Expect to see lots of parrots included the popular parrot garden where you can, if you dare... Get a parrot on you. A few warnings, parrots do bite sometimes just to hear you scream. Parrots do like to chew shiny things such as chains, watches, earrings and they do like to destroy clothes... I go every year!
L. B.
A great day out as usual, friendly staff, good hot chocolate and delicious food in the cafe. Staff helpful and informative, great for the kids to get close to the birds. Very enjoyable and highly recommended ☺
M.
The birds there were very friendly and domesticated. I recommend for families and bird lovers if they want to experience the love that these creatures are capable of.
R. J.
Absolutely wonderful place, an amazing experience and one that I will be coming back for! Staff were really polite and ready to help and answer any questions. Lovely to know that the birds have free reign and choose to have the interaction if they want it. Cafe was good too, excellent cakes. Keep up the good work!
L. G.
Great day out today. Loved the free flying area where lots of tame parrots and similar beautiful birds are perched and you can feed them and take photos up close. Some will climb on you if you want them to. The guy who looks after them was so knowledgeable and knows all their different personalities. He got a huge blue parrot and brought him over for my 18month old to stroke and put him on my arm. Also a great outdoor play area which my little boy loved. Highly recommend :)
R. D.
Lovely park, enjoyed our time there very much. Much better than I thought it would be actually without doing any research. The birds all have good size enclosures and seem very happy. The best bit is right at the end, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many parrots roaming freely, clearly not wishing to fly away! Excellent for both adults and kids.
Cafe and toilets could do with a bit more care though, we had to wait twenty minutes to be served at 3pm just for a portion of chips because only one girl was serving on the tills and drinks, and the rest were cleaning after a busy Saturday lunch.
T. B.
Tropical Birdland is a place to visit for age group be toddlers and grandparents I know or have not heard of any other place like it. And making more unique is some areas the birds are free with everyone enjoying feeding and seeing many can be handled with some of birds landing on people. What a great day out!
J. A. W.
Well cared for birds. Lovely staff stayed gor hours. What a great experience. Highly recommended
W. P.
Free parking! That makes a nice change! Lovely place to go and kill a few hours... The "Petting" area is great, most of the birds are rescues and ex-pets and are gentle enough for small children to handle them. The Cafe is reasonably priced with a decent range of things and some amazing cakes.
£10 entry might sound like a bit, but consider they consider they get no funding and do some great conservation work.
P. H.
A lovely day out, lots of different birds to see. The weather was chilly when we visited my grandson loved it, we are planning a return visit in the summer.
e. d.
Was a wonderful experience. Never been so close to any birds before they were so beautiful and the staff also was very informative and friendly had a very good day 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
M.
This was my first visit and definitely won't be the last time I visit, Entrance prices is fairly cheap £7.75 for an adult and £5.25 for a child, bag of nuts £1 to feed the birds, a lot of the birds fly freely around the place and are so gentle when taking food from your hand, there are averies with birds in which some you can go in and the birds will come and land on you, there's a walk through avery as well, there's a nice little woodland walk too, a nice cafe on site and again well priced and tasty, picnic area if you want to take your own food and a play area for the children too, good priced gift shop, we spent a good couple of hours here for not a lot of money and got to handle lots of birds and big parrots, wasn't swamped with people either which made it nicer than other places, staff are extremely friendly and helpful, all in all loved this place and will be going back. A hidden gem.
S.
What a find! Great little place at amazing value, not overpriced like the zoos and I found it was a lot more interactive with the animals and no extra cost. Great for little ones. ☺️
M. D.
Lovely place and lovely people. Food in the cafe was excellent and reasonably priced. Lots of information on all the boards and lots of interaction with the birds. Very enjoyable day out. One criticism: the whole park especially the doors, the disabled toilets and the parking are not accessible and are in need of a review.
d. k.
Lovely place! Love the bit at the end where you can pet and hold so many different parrots! Lots of different types of birds to see and hold, you can feed them too. All the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable
D. K.
Lovely place to visit if you like tropical birds then it's for you lovely cafe on site toilets spotless great picnic area play ground great day out
N. T.
Excellent place to see all kinds of different parrots and you get to hold most of them too. Definitely recommend for all parrot lovers
U. S.
Thanks to the kind staff, the pleasant atmosphere and the beautiful birds we had a great time at the Tropical Birdland. The size and arrangement of the aviaries seem to offer an agreeably pleasant life for its inhabitants. Some aviaries can be entered so that the visitor can be a bit closer to the birds (like budgies and other exotic birds). It was a great adventure for me as I learned to alleviate fears towards certain kinds of birds and eventually got to hold them and feed them. I hope to come back again on one of my next visits to Leicester.
R. M.
Great day out with the family. Lots of species of birds and very colourful. There is a cafe and a large play area. It is a very interactive place where you can have the birds sit on your shoulders.
S. B.
Absolutely amazing place
Staff are friendly and polite helpful with parrots if your to scared to make the first move in picking them up.just amazing definitely a place we will be going back to I dont know who loved it more me or the kids 😀
J. H.
Feeding the birds is great fun for all the family and, if you're patient enough, you can get some intimate moments with them. The open bird park at the end is the main attraction but be careful cos these birds will steal what they can.
N. H.
Amazing place to go for your little ones or anyone who just love this kind of thing. Various species of birds and they are well look d after. Very clean place and also disabled friendly. I would like to thank the maintainnce person for adjusting one of the avaries to suit my partner's needs and and anyone else who's in a wheelchair. We really appreciated it. Thank you to all the staff for making this a great experience, so much we are now a proud supporter of the hornbill enclosure.
N. K.
Very nice place, a lot of interraction with parrots. You can be centre of birds attention if you have a food for them, which is kindly offered on entrance. Each enclosure have a signature, showing which type of food is suitable for particular bird. Better to arrive not later that 1 hour before closure. Amazing experience!
M. F.
Nice place nice for people birds are very good little one keeps chewing shoes😅 can't really think of anything wrong with it the birds love people and it's very nice feeding them. Good Park too for younger ones and plus they let them fly around which is nice. Great place would recommend it for others.
J. D.
Great variety of birds, mostly friendly. I thought it would be smaller than it was. Great play park, great bird handling area. Wouldn't recommend in really cold weather as it's mostly outdoor. Can buy nuts at entrance, definatley worth it.
S.
Excellent day out for adults and kids alike! Very reasonable prices for entry and in the cafe & gift shop. Birds seem very well cared for and there is a visible trust between the animals and the staff. Ample knowledgeable staff who are keen to inform and help. Excellent how close you can get to the birds, holding and feeding them. Well worth a visit. Don't wear buttoned clothing! or any nice clothing in fact.
M. B.
Brilliant place to visit ,cafe very friendly also the staff in the shop very caring as a bird dug his claws in to my handicapped sister and they came to see if she was OK, if I could give more stars I would 😀
A. B.
A place for both the little ones and the big ones. For bird lovers, it is definitely worth seeing.
G. R.
Brilliant place to visit, amazing and friendly staff. My personal number one in Leicester.
F. S.
My 15-month-old absolutely loved this place! He is fascinated by birds and was able to get really close to many different species here. The enclosures were generally a reasonable size and clean but I always find captive birds very sad, even free ranging birds with clipped flight feathers, so this was the most generous star rating I felt comfortable with.
P. S. M.
Great day out, well worth the entrance fee. Totally recommend this place
M. W.
Great place, our 2 year old grand daughter loved it and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Will definitely go again.
K. P.
Thoroughly enjoyed my half day here. Prices very fair. Staff helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Birds and other exhibits fantastic. Not advisable to wear fancy or expensive jewelry etc as some birds very destructive
S. R.
Tropical birdland is amazing, I would definitely recommend taking the family here. Nicely laid out with a huge selection of different birds. The bird garden at the end is amazing. Car park on site makes it easy to get to and park up. Price is okay for this kind attraction but the bird feed is extra. There is an onsite cafe but we didn't try it as it was nothing special (the usual sandwich, soft drinks etc).
E. R.
Good priced afternoon out..if you like birds😂 handle with caution as some are a bit grumpy and just want to steal your shiny buttons!
Z. W.
It was lovely. Yet the you couldn't see any sight of birds on the woodland walk. But it was a lovely place to go.You could have birds climb on you if you wish! Great for a family day out.
H. S.
Tropical Birdland is amazing place for a family day out on a lovely hot sunny day.
There's a lot to see and there's even a Kids big play area to keep your kids busy whilst you can have a relaxing lunch on the sitting area or pharps even have a lovely lunch in the cafe with your family
right next to the play area to.
O.
Very nice place. Amazing experience. Good for families have coffee place and play yard.
J. P.
Lovely experience and knowledge the handers have is great. Great all round afternoon. Thanks to all the staff there as you all do a fantastic job.
M. S.
So attractive and very very lovely atmosphere the birds are so loving we enjoying a lot n I recommend to everyone to visit one time really love it
A. R.
Great place to spend time. My advice - it's best to bring your own parrot treats.
H. S.
Interesting visit. The birds are so well fed they didn't want the food we purchased for them. Bit shabby in places, like the pond with the fish in. Needs cleaning. Enjoyed the visit
P. B.
Great day out for all the family, good cafe too.
D. B.
Fantastic day out, great food at the cafe and good prices
L. P.
Really nice experience, the staff was friendly and helpful
T. H.
Great morning out, plenty to see with a childrens playground onsite too. (4-16) years.
The birds are very friendly and some will even all you to hold them if you're gentle.
Would advise you bring an umbrella just incase and suitable shoes (some areas are a little muddy) my trainers were fine though.
D. T.
Absolutely brilliant place to go out for the day. All the Staff are super friendly & Welcoming, quite cheap to get in which is a bonus. As you enter there are many bird cages one can quite clearly see the birds are very happy, well fed & loved by everyone. As you walk around you eventually come to a opening where the birds are all pirched. You can feed them or let them climb onto your arm. All the Parrots & others are super friendly & happy to see people. Extremely great day out. Only about 55 mins from Birmingham depending on your driving skills & speed. There's plenty to do for the little ones & most of the big ones too. Excellent restaurant & Cafe. Plenty of toilets & wash basins as well... try it out you'll definitely go again...
S. a. T. S.
Best day out all summer (and the cheapest)
Great place and great staff happy to answer any questions about the birds
Definitely going back this year

R. F. L. S.
Lovely place to visit with kids. Lovely park play area and lovely to experience birds close up. Cafe very hot and very slow and not very helpful but apart from that it was clean and id visit again.
M. B.
Spent several hours looking at caged tropical birds. The last section allows you to get up close and personal if you wish. Very entertaining. A great place to visit.
B. E.
Very enjoyable experience, would definitely recommend getting there early if you intend on feeding the birds. Excellent experience regardless with a huge variety of birds on display
M. P.
The best!!!
Beautiful birds, super tame and very friendly!
Super nice staff, good prices, entertaining, nice and cheap food.
Super recommend, especially with kids!!
D. B.
Amazing selection of exotic birds you can get up close to and feed. Friendly staff and not too busy.
j. h.
Beautiful birds some very large parrots and you can hold them as you walk around a designated area. Wear long sleeves as some are nippers and claws can be sharp.
J. P.
Very nice place. Lots of birds mainly parots.
Bit overpriced for adults. No family 2+2 option.
But have lots of fun
Specially kids.
Cafe is a bit slow. Need to improve.
J. I.
So much fun feeding all the various birds and I do implore everyone to buy a tub of mealworms and head to the budgie enclosure!
J. H.
Great place to visit. Birds are very pretty and staff welcoming. If you have any buttons on your coat or jewellery, make sure you take it off before the birds interact with you. Otherwise they'll soon have them away!
D. H.
Amazing place, love it and I'm going to visit multiple times 😁😁😁
M. v. G.
A wonderful place for bird lovers. The birds fly freely, they love human attention and will accept food from people's hands. I've been here quite a few times and love it every time. There's good food and drinks in the cafe, and toilets are available.
c. a.
Love this place fab day out for all the family admission is so cheap compared to most family attractions
You can buy nuts and fruit bags to feed and hold most of the birds. Its also Wheelchair friendly and concession tickets are available highly recommended for a cheap enjoyable family day out.
K. M.
Amazing Day Out!!
Value for money.
Cafe has Vegan option.
Great Value for money
M. O.
Perfect day out for the kids, especially with the bird walk at the end where you can feed and hold the birds.
Great reasonably priced cafe, and picnic area with a big play park at the end too
D. P.
Great place to spend a few hours wandering around, feeding the birds, it's great that they are in the open to feed them and hold them. The cafe is good as well, good food, good value.
S. S.
Great way to spend a couple of hours. Buy food, millet and nuts went down the best.
Fantastic to be able to interact with the birds.

The childrens partt was great plenty of space and happy faces all round. I will def be visiting this beautiful gen again with my children for a family day out. Thank you for having us!!
N. A.
Lovely zoo. Not too big (which I like).
Birds, birds, birds, goats?! This is an all birds zoo with the exception of 3 goats that ironically my baby daughter enjoyed playing with the most!
C. Z.
Great birds but we believe the owners can touch up the cages as most of them looked need replacement. and paths to make it more wheelchair friendly. Other than that we can't fault it.
D. F.
Enjoyed my experience. Really worth a visit and not too expensive
L. N.
Love it here, always clean and staff are super friendly. Birds r lovely and friendly and land on you. The park and cafe is fantastic
M. L.
Awesome place. Great mix of birds on show. Get to meet a lot at the end as well to feed them and maybe hold them too if you're lucky.
D. H.
Visited a couple of times, love the free birds and they are happy to jump on your arm and take nuts from your hand
T. B.
Had a brilliant day out here. Lots of birds (no surprise there) with a lovely cafe and great play area. Great value for money too!
D. M.
A lovely setting. Staff within the park helpful. Café not very wheelchair friendly. Need notices to state some of the menu not available
t. h.
Great place for a half day out.
M. j.
Nice day out.
The birds are so friendly and cheeky🐥.
You can buy food to feed the birds.
There is a bird garden at the end were you can hold them and feed them.
m. j.
Fantastic day out. Love the interaction with the birds
A. W.
Amazing as always, we love coming here and seeing all the birds, even the more bitey ones! Seeing so many free flying and roaming about is such a joy
B. W.
Lovely place to visit with kids. Some of the Parrots are free flying and may bite but it's really nice there and food on site is fairly priced. However, the staff didn't really react when they saw birds biting people.
K. B.
It was a lovely day out for the whole family. Staff were friendly, pricesare good. Recommend the cakes and coffees. Will visit again.
S. G.
Wow....what a hidden gem, I took my parrott obsessed 12 year old here after he found the place on-line. The 2 hour journey was worth every minute, if exotic birds and parrots of all species are your thing then this is the place to visit. Lots of interaction with them too with walk through aviaries and hand feeding them whilst you walk around the place. The staff are very friendly and informative too Rebecca even managed on more than one occasion to get Quentin one of their free flyers to take flight and land on my Sons arm to take a wall nut, that was worth the entrance fee alone which I must add is very reasonably priced. I can't fault this place we'll be back I'm sure both my Son and I loved it, I just wish it was closer to home.
J. S.
Fantastic place. Had so much fund seeing the birds. Family friendly place. Would definitely recommend.
T. Y.
Brilliant experience. The area we're the birds are all roaming free is fantastic, birds landing on you for a stroke and parrots on your shoulder make you feel like a pirate :)
C. H.
What an amazing little place this is. Such great family fun.. had a great time highly recommended
T. B.
Great way to spend the afternoon with kids, plenty of birds to see and hold. And the staff were friendly and very helpful.
S. A.
Very enjoyable day. Shame about hour long wait for hot food in cafe. Good job there was a burger bar outside. We visited on Mother's Day so that could be reason for food delays. Staff outside very helpful and chatty sees
P. B.
I have been here many times and it improves each time. Plenty of staff on hand to help with holding the birds. The food is nice too.
M. F.
First visit here with my great nephew's, both loved it. Would have been five stars but their website has wrong prices on the menu for The Real Macaw cafe.
b. k.
Very reasonable prices and a lovely place to spend 2/3 hours. A plesent walk around then we all loved the chance to get close to and hold many different sorts of birds. The play area is good and gave our 4 year old a place to burn of steam as we ate a picnic.
B. H.
Lovely little afternoon out. Not too expensive for a family outing and you can buy food for the birds, with opportunities to get up close and even have them sitting on you. Helped my daughter become less nervous of birds. Nice cafe and gift shop.
N. S.
A beautiful place with happy birds. A unique opportunity to interact with these friendly parrots. Parking area was spacious and entry fee reasonable. A must visit for bird fans!
A. S.
A lovely place to visit! Parrots are well kept & staff were friendly/ approachable. Will definitely be revisiting a few times this year :)
H. D.
Awesome visit, really loved seeing and interacting with the birds. Definitely worth a visit, we'll be going back
B. x.
Really lovely place to go, especially if you like smaller less busy places to take the kids for a day out.
P. B. W.
Great for kids and adults who want to interact with birds had a great day out with our grandkids has a play area and cafe on site
J. T.
Brilliant place to visit for all ages ! The ability to be able to buy bird food was excellent and was good value ! Be aware, some birds damage clothes - I lost a button on my shirt and my partner received a beak hole in her top. This was no big issue at all. Overall a great day !
A. M.
A great place to interact with loads of species of birds. Birds are friendly and kids would love it. Reasonably priced and has a nice cafeteria. You need minimum 2 hours to explore comfortably.
A. A.
Such a beautiful peaceful place for a nice family day out, you also get to hold some gorgeous parrots.
A. B.
Thus is a good place to go if you are interested in birds as you can walk around and hold some if you have kids there is a play-area to let them waste energy. Make sure you go on a worm day as I went and it was chucking it down . Make sure you have a look in the gift shop at the end . It is all outdoors and gets youre kids spending time looking at natureistic creatures .
C. A.
If you are bird man like myself - although we are a dying breed these days it has to be said - then this is the place for you! I was particularly fortunate in having a free weekday (all the kids were at school) so had the birds all to myself... just the way I like it!
It was quite a refreshing change to see so many lovely looking birds in one place, with so much intelligence and all so friendly and eager to flock around me. They are clearly being looked after and well trained, which is more than I can say about most birds I've encountered.
The best bit was at the end, when I had 3 birds on me all at once. This was all my own fault after I whipped out my peanuts and then the mayhem ensued... One was nibbling around my neck, the other was stroking and pulling on my hair while the third was busy playing with my zip (on my jacket). I could sense a few of the other birds were ready jump in but there simply wasn't any space. I think my zip may well have broke during all the action come to think of it, but it was well worth it. Quality birds are worth such sacrifices in life!
Overall: Absolutely amazing!!! You will have the time of your life and for under a £10er its a good value day out. It's a bit "in the middle of nowhere" but well worth it nonetheless.
NOTE: wear old shoes and clothes because these birds don't hold back !!
b. w.
Great place getting to handle the parrots at the end was fun although I suggest long sleeved shirts if you plan to hold the birds
J.
We had a lovely morning at tropical birdland but make sure you remove jewellery my granddaughter had earing removed by parrot didn't arm her thank god good time had by all x
M. J.
Amazing place to go as a family, there is little more to say other than you won't ever regret going
a. k.
Colourful parrots, they come and sit on your shoulders, great experience for feathered bird lovers. Enjoyed every bit of it
B. S.
A great place for both adults and children. The birds were lively and very noisy and some quite tame and quite a few were flying around!
B. L.
Great. Although I did get bitten by one of the large parrots and still have a bruise nearly 2 weeks later. Staff didn't take any notice.
L. I.
Amazing place so much to see and birds are beautiful you can even hold them they go on your shoulder and everything! It's so cool.
J. R.
Lovely place to explore and see tropical birds in the UK. Great to see most free to fly around the grounds unleashed.
Nice little playground for the kids. Free parking.
D. D.
Great day out for kids
E. M.
Amazing place. Touched our hearts the birds and how confident and friendly they were. They were free to fly wherever they wanted. Also your able to buy a bag of nuts for them when you arrive definitely recommended.
M. J.
Great day seeing an array of different birds but the highlight was being able to interact with them, feeding them nuts and fruit and them willingly climbing on us to give us an opportunity to see them close up. Well worth a visit
H. W.
First time visiting, was over the moon loved this place so so much , need to visit if love birds, well worth the money .
I. J.
Have been here several times, A lovely day out, lots of birds, most of which have been rescued, so might not look at their best.
It's reasonably priced, and has a cafe which is also reasonably priced but can be sometimes hit and miss on customer service. There are plenty of tables outside so you could bring your own picnic which is a option.
There is a lovely section at the end where you can get up close and have some birds climb on you, watch your glasses, zips, jewelry they like to put at things.
A.
Me and my girlfriend visited today my girlfriend is in a wheelchair she found it abit difficult to get in to the cafe because of a raised concrete lip near the cafe entrance and the bottom of the door frames at the cafe and gift shop stuck up abit out of the ground so she had to bump over them but other than that we had an amazing visit despite the couple of tiny issues on the accessibility side we will happily be back. the food in the cafe is really nice it definitely filled us up. I give 4 star's just because of the trubble we had getting in the cafe and gift shop if them small issues where sorted it would pass a clear 5 out of 5
S. D.
Great place. Lovely parrots, free to fly and very friendly. Owls, hornbills, emu, budgerigars, cockatoos etc.
J. M.
Was asked by my son to visit Birdland . It was about 2pm. So wasn’t keen. But drove there and had a lovely couple of hours. Great selection of free flying birds. Loved feeding them. Had a chat with the lady owner , really friendly told us lots about the birds histories etc. They rescue and home lots of birds Can’t wait to go back!
E.
My friend has surprised me with a birthday visit to this place and I've absolutely loved the experience! Time flies by so quickly that we didn't even notice we were there just over 3 hours 😳 There is this lovely orange parrot that stayed with us throughout the experience (and even slept in my hood throughout the duration of our visit 😭❤️). I would highly recommend anyone to come and visit this place! Also, I've noticed not many birds are fond of the fruits we've given them and were more interested in the peanuts (walnuts for the larger parrots). The entry fee is reasonably priced and the all in one food pack costs £4.50 but all in all, the whole experience with the friendly birds makes up for it all! I would definitely come again!
E. R.
What an absolutely wonderful place!
We hadn't even paid for our tickets when a lovely little bird named Mango landed on my shoulder.
Little did I know that Mango would refuse to leave my shoulder enjoying being nuzzled into my hair for an entire hour, all the way round until we reached all the birds on pearches at the end. Really made my day and have fallen in love with her!
Prices really good, the bird handlers are absolutely amazing and clearly knew all of their birds very well and provide them with a lovely environment.
Would highly recommend to any with or without children.
A. L.
This place is brilliant.
My daughter, niece and nephew absolutely loved it.
I wouldn't say it's an all day thing, but would definitely spend 3 hours or so in there. As there's also a very clean park in the middle.
We went at about 230pm on a Tuesday in half term, surprisingly it was pleasantly quiet. I've never been to a place like this before, where there was about 30-40 different types of parrots and birds where you can just approach and stroke and you can hold them and everything. I wasn't expecting this. We had just come from space centre, and the bird land has been the talking point daily.
The young lady that was there at about 445pm-5pm that assisted us with help holding the parrots for the children with us, was so patient and understanding. I also couldn't help but notice that when she was taking the birds inside, the care towards them was excellent. You can tell this isn't just a job, but also takes pride in the care towards the birds. The birds that you can feed are very easily signed posted for the kids so you can see what each bird eats. And the colour Co ordination is a good idea. As my daughter was saying things like oh sign is red it eats nuts. Etc.
Car park was easy and free. Even the guys doing maintenance as we walked in fixing the bridge were very pleasant with smiles on their faces. Staff were joking with each other, smiling and chatting but also working hard. Didn't notice one unhappy face. Nothing worse than a first visit to a place and seeing miserable staff with no customer service or care.
The one thing I would say, is maybe a discounted price on the next visit. As the kids would love to go back, but its not down the road for us unfortunately. But I would definitely recommend to friends and family In my area if they visit Leicester.

Amazing place, watch out for the birds at the end. They love zips on your bags.

What can I say, amazing place with amazing species of birds. Lovely friendly staff, definitely a great day out for the family

OMG... Neville the Hyacinth macaw is a must to go and visit at this wonderful bird garden. It is worth the entrance fee just to see the petting area where you will find the stunning, amazing Neville! ❤
G. G.
Amazing place, it was snowing when we went but it didn't stop us having an amazing time. Birds are healthy and happy
S. D.
Wonderful day, we enjoyed it very much. Great kids play area !!
J. B.
Great winter wonderland. Loved seeing the birds and the fairy walk was magical
S. S.
Great place to visit, lots of different birds and is amazing getting so up close and personal with them. Highly recommend long sleeves and wearing clothes without lots of buttons and tags if you want to hold the birds. Cafe on site and lots of parking.

The place and staff are lovely, such a shame about the group of women that are there every single time we have visited who hog all the birds at the end. They come up to you and take the birds from you and act like they are their birds. We have been here about 5 times now and on every single visit this has happened. I watched them take birds from others as-well as take from myself. Something must be done. They need banning or only allowed to visit once a month if they continue spoiling it for everyone!
C. M.
A great day out, lovely to be able to interact with the birds!

Amazing place! We had a fantastic day and got up and close with the birds which the kids loved!
Friendly staff and very clean place, will definitely be returning 💕

Went there with the family. You're welcomed by a talking parrot right from the start and as you go through the park, you move from one stunning bird to the next! All amazing in their own ways! The birds love nuts so take some or buy some at the ticket desk for an exciting experience.
The car park is not paved and going on a wet day meant we got our shoes and the car all muddy so be sure to check the weather.
The parakeet will come and sit on your shoulders if you go inside the cage so don't be surprised when they do!
Overall a very pleasant experience with the birds and would definitely recommend!

Nice place to spend a couple of hours even on a damp winters day. Good selection of parrots and exotic birds. You can feed the birds and some of them will even venture on to your arm.

Thanking, tropical Birdland for setting up such a good aviary, where they made it possible for me and my family to interact with these beautiful species.

Brilliant day out, definitely worth a visit

Amazing! As a bird lover i enjoyed this experience so much. Plenty to see and so much variety. The refreshments are highly priced so if on a budget i would advice taking a packed lunch.

We've been here twice, it's reasonably priced, around £7 to get in and friendly staff, it's not a big place but the time soon goes once you get to the parrot path where you can handle the birds, some of the parrot's are mischievous so watch your shirt buttons and any loose objects like glasses or jewellery, I would have given 5 stars if the place wasn't overun with wasps 🐝 which spoilt the day a little.
A. H.
Absolutely lovely day out! Such a great rescue centre.
B. F.
Lovely place if you love seeing lots of different birds! Good play area for older children too. Good cafe reasonably priced and tasty.
E. A.
The staff are great, the birds are beautiful and for a family of 6 it's not an expensive trip and the kids love it. Lovely little play area also. I didn't try the cafe as took my own food but it looked nice.

This place is an entrance to a new world of life, greatly biodiverse, to anyone looking for majestic feathered friends with such cute and tame attitude towards human beings. If ever I hadn't chosen 5STAR rating, it would be due to the animals being enclosed, but they're treated very fairly and have a degree of freedom in their naturally recreated habitats . 😁

Good half day out with or without children. Wouldnt recommend buying the fruit and nuts to feed birds as they had had so much they werent taking it.
Expensive to eat in the cafe so Id recommend taking a picnic.

G. P.
Had a great time. Took both granddaughters for the day and really enjoyed the experience. They liked the budgies the best whereas I struck up better relationships with the McCaws. Food was average. I think possibly they could make more of the restaurant with a bit of investment, but couldn't fault the children's play area. All in all a highly recommended day out ideal for the whole family.
t. B.
Absolutely worth going the birds are all so tame and loving the staff are all helpful and friendly and if you ask something about a parrot they are very knowledgeable.and happy to answer anything. You will not be disappointed if you love birds 😊 the gift shop was a bit disappointing not much in there.
L. M.
Good experience lots of different birds but mainly parrots they are very willing to sit on your arms and shoulders there is staff outside with them so if your struggling to get the bird off they will assist you, there is a cafe, better to take your own food and a lovely playground for the kids
T. D.
Great place to go
s. h.
A great day out for all of the family, you can feed most of the birds with fruit or nuts and then at the end there is an area where some of the birds can be handled (on their terms of course) lots of peanuts are very handy. They also like zips, buttons and earrings so watch out for these feathered bandits lol. We had a great time and we would highly recommend.

Love this place. Such good work they do with the birds. Set up is nice and you can see where they are constantly working on improvements. The cafe is lovely and good value for money. Play area is great, spent over an hour watching our grandson playing in there today. Toilets are clean and kept well. Bird walk at the end is lovely as you get to have the birds sit on your arms etc. Really recommend sponsoring if you live nearby as it's supporting them and you get some lovely perks.

Real Nice fun day out for all the family especially the Bird Walk area for visitors to hold and feed the birds.
H. H.
This place could be really good! It was still a lovely day out and the walk through the woods was beautiful - but overall it was looking a little tired and some of the birds, although the minority, not so well.
E. B.
The idea and variety of birds is brilliant! Loved the ones are FREE! But some of them seem depressed, unhealthy. Brought some sad thoughts and pittynes

After 3 years away from visiting, it was lovely to come back again with the youngest of my grandsons and the 11 year old grandson who had been before. It was busy, but not packed. Both grandsons had a great time including going on the play area. My son and daughter came which was special. The staff were very helpful. And I love the contact with the birds. Although there wasn't as many small birds this time. My son and the youngest grandson had never been before and will visit again with his wife in the future.
A. F.
