What a fantastic place; a brilliant way to spend a good few hours! There is so much to see and learn, and it's run entirely by volunteers who are friendly, passionate and ready to share their knowledge. I visited with my husband and our 7 year son, who was fascinated by it all. It's definitely worth checking the opening hours before you go, as it only opens Sundays and Wednesdays to work around the volunteers.
Highlights were trying out Morse code, seeing the bomb shelters, the Lancaster Bomber (look for the photo of the dog!) and of course riding around the camp in one of the old jeeps.
We were very glad of the Spitfire Tearoom, where we stopped halfway round for a rest - it's simple but just what you need and very fitting with the surroundings - a lovely slice of cake with a cup of tea.
There is also a fab welcome pack for children with colouring and activities, as well as quiz to do as you go round, which made it fun looking for the answers. They also do different quiz levels (we did Bronze) which is a great incentive to go back! I found out after that my Grandad had helped build one the radars on display there, so must go back again to find it. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, and we look forward to a revisit!

What can I say this was a great experience! Everyone there was more than happy to show me and my partner around and tell us all of the great history around the building and in the hangers, we had a great time and the employees made it so much better by telling us stories! Will be going again for sure!
Thank you for all the workers we appreciate you.

Great Visitors Centre to Visit. Its like a Tardis full of memorabilia from WW1 to the Cold War. All run and maintained by volunteers. If you haven't been you really must it's always expanding and changing for the better!!
K. B.
Amazing place and cannot commend the volunteers enough, they must have worked their little stocking tops off over the last couple of years. Many varied and interesting exhibits, fabulous staff, georgeous tearooms. In the diary to go back in September, next time I'm staying in Lincolnshire.

If you haven't been here then you really are missing out.
Thorpe Camp is amazing and the ladies and gents that run the camp are a fantastic and friendly group of genuine knowledgeable people.
We were on a ride of Rememberance for the Royal British Legion and they opened up especially for us (by appointment)
I can honestly say the 50 or so bikers that were in our group had a great couple of hours and were very thankful for their time that they gave us.
Too much to look at and read so we will be back again another day.
Thank you all at Thorpe Camp
Oh and the cake was amazing too. 😊

Lovely museum. Lots of inside exhibits for a rainy day. Beautiful woodland walk just off car park. Really enthusiastic volunteers who are rightly proud of the place. Excellent value family day out. Tea room charged us £12.50 for seven drinks and three cakes! Well worth a trip out.
J. R.
Highly recommended a visit to this wonderful museum tucked away. Extremely friendly staff who are eager to share their knowledge. Lovely tea room for coffee and cake. Well worth the £5 admission fee. We will certainly be returning with the grandson to explore further.

Well worth driving 56 miles to visit a very interesting 2nd world war history. There's so much to see. My friend and I were there for 4 hours and that wasn't enough time to suck in all the information, it's too bad that the opening time are limited to 1pm-5:30 pm only opening on Wednesdays.
L. S.
The staff here went above and beyond to make our visit here amazing! The museum was very interesting and the staff started up the old war cars/trucks so the kids could have a ride around. Great afternoon, thank you

Thank you😊
J. K.
I love this place great history well presented, there is always something new to discover. My only problem is the price of a cup of tea. £1.80 was a bit steep, I know it's a charity and they need the money but it was not great tea.
A. H.
It's well worth a visit. All run by volunteers. It covers other time periods other than just WW2 also. You'll certainly use up half a day. There are plenty of things on display and lots to read.
D. Q.
Sadly closed on the day of our visit, but looks worth a call if you're already in the area visiting many of the other RAF things to do.

Took my 9yr old sister here and we had a really great time. The centre runs a quiz for kids which proves a fun way for them to learn about the history. The staff are really friendly and don't mind giving the kids a playful nudge in the right direction. I was really impressed by the quality and amount of exhibits they had on display. Plenty to see and worth coming back to learn more.

I call in at Thorpe Camp every year when i get the chance. This gem of a place needs all the support we can offer it. The knowledge of its team is remarkable. I was introduced to Thorpe Camp by a very good friend, Merv Hallam and his good friend Mike Hodgson. Now both have sadly passed away some years ago. But Thorpe Camp has been left in excellent hands, So when you are in the area call in for a brew and a slice of their home made cake. Following a slice of Lincolnshire's Bomber County history at Thorpe Camp. Well done to you all.
M. T.

J. Y.

D. M.
Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre is good to browse in a day but to really take in all the exhibits you need two days as there is sooo much to see. Part of RAF Woodhall Spa, the camp is the WWII Communal Area, whereas the bomber crews were based on the aerodrome at Woodhall Spa itself . From this base the Dambusters 617 Squadron flew off on the Dams raid and attacked at least 3 German dams over the Ruhr using the Barnes Wallace Bouncing Bomb. Amongst the squadrons at Woodhall Spa were 97, 619, 617 and 627 Squadrons. WWI, WWII and other era's are represented here at the camp. Here they have a complete WWII Link Trainer Simulator which is awesome. There is a Memorial on site, inside the grounds and at the entrance to the camp. There is sooo much to say that the best thing to do is just visit here and see for yourself.
My personal rating for Thorpe Camp is 10/10 and since this review was written over 2 months ago, I also award Thorpe Camp my Gold Star for Excellence.
Thorpe Camp kindly permitted me exclusive rights for my photos used in this review.
