We visited today, as part of the Heritage Open Days 2017 - Lots of artefacts and photographs to see as well as two free mini tours of the original control room and down through the fan chamber to see the Queensway Tunnel. Well worth the visit. Friendly, informative staff. Could well be back for the full tour.

George's Dock has the beautiful 3 white buildings (The Three Graces) built over it.
When visiting here take a moment to remember that there was an important dock built in the late 1700's under your feet!
Written 1810 about the dock
This important improvement of the harbour was George's dock, which was more spacious than either of the former, and, with its piers and quay, was not only a great accommodation to the shipping, but contributed much to the magnificence of the port, and constituted one of the most conspicuous ornaments of the town. It was begun with a promptitude creditable to the spirit of improvement which has always distinguished the corporation of Liverpool, and, after several years of laborious exertion, it was completed in the year 1771.

If you're after a different museum, with different types of story that's the place for you.
This is a rare gem, as not only you will enter into the core of something that is actually working, but you will be guided into unexpected architectural and engineering stuff that unlikely you can find elsewhere (unless you're a builder or an engineer that knows how to look at).
Fluffiness aside, this tour is a mix between history and something tangible, sublimed explained but the on-site guides.
There price is really worth in comparison to many other attractions in and off town.

Every time I pass this building the detail causes me to focus in and revel in the Art Deco beauty of it all. A quiet glorious gem.

Georges Dock and The Liver Buildings are working living buildings and to the locals of Liverpool they present the backdrop to the Pier Head where they take the ferry across the Mersey to Birkenhead. These buildings are along with the Anglican Cathedral the triumphant landmarks of Liverpool. The sight of these building has brought tears of joy and relief to many generations of sailors and wayfarers after turning into the Mersey River.

Historical listed building with alot of history. Merseytravel provide a tunnel tour of the QW tunnel which is an eye opener to how the tunnel was first built and how it functions today

(Translated) A treat for people who like street photo and architecture. Monumental buildings, even in the era of skyscrapers, make a great impression.
