A nice little museum with gift shop, takes about an hour and a half to walk around at a leisurely pace and read all the information. A nice mixture of information, interaction and multi-medias, there's a little dress up area for kids to get involved with as well.
A good museum to visit without getting bored/tired walking around.

Interesting museum to visit if you are looking for something different to do in London. You will find out about the lady with the lamp and how she helped the sick and wounded. The exhibition is well laid out and informative. I enjoyed my visit, I went to investigate for my blog and would recommend this to anyone interested in nursing and important historical women.
C. T.
I found this museum quite interesting. The museum had great interactive displays. The staff was nice, and the displays were very informative. When I went, there was a special exhibition there and I thought it was nicely done. There is a price for admission to this museum, unlike most of the museums in London.

This museum is a very informative and interesting museum of Florence Nightingale and nursing. Fantastic to see a museum dedicated to nursing and the debt owed to a true British heroine. It was great to learn about the foundations of modern nursing laid down by Nightingale and the evolution to modern times. Lots of artefacts that belonged to or associated with Nightingale are on display. The videos interviews with Caribbean nurses was just awesome. There's also a pretty good exhibition on the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic.
There were a bunch of little peep holes to view pictures related for Nightingale, and to be honest after a couple I thought it was just a pointless as it doesn't actually add anything to the visit for an adult. Maybe it's aimed more at children. My only other criticism is that the the museum is actually quite small and the entrance fee is high for what is at most a one hour visit.
Overall, I enjoyed the visit. The artefacts, exhibits and writing are first class. For me, one of the best of the exhibits is the stained glass window in honour of Nightingale, something that would've been created at a time when few women were honoured. The staff should also be commended as well, very friendly, efficient and not at all flustered when the horde descends on the museum at opening time.

I really enjoyed it. The meseum tries to give an overall picture of the life of Florence nightingale and her legacy on nursing. A number of kids were there snd they looked like they really enjoyed it.
K. C.
Great day out spending with my children, children were given an activity booklet to do when going around. It was very interesting and lots of amazing history to learn. Nice day out to kick start the Easter Holidays

A small but interesting museum. Currently there is a special exhibition on the impact of the Spanish Flu following on from the First World War. The main exhibition gives an insight into Florence Nightingales life and her impact on healthcare. It shows particularly the tireless work that she and her team of nurses performed during the Crimean War.
I think the concession rate for pensioners should be 60 not 65; most other attractions in London use 60 as the concession age. I thought £8 was a bit too expensive for the size of museum. I think £5 would be a fair price.

An off the beaten track museum is the Florence Nightingale museum, situated at the back of St. Thomas hospital. It is a quite small museum and most is contained in one room. It will take you on a journey on both the life and times of the lady with the lamp, but it will also tell you about the evolution of nursing with a focus on the military side. Though not big the museum can definitely keep you there for an hour or so and on a rainy day you can sit through a classic movie or two about Florence. The ticket is valid all day so you can always come back if it starts raining!

During this pandemic, I am in awe of the special mixture of heart and mind, that makes possible the grit, love and service the nursing team provides - patient after patient. So many nurses have given their lives so those in their care may continue theirs.
Viewing the dioramas, displays, and memorabilia, you learned about the "practice of care" Florence Nightingale found, and changed, to become the founder of modern nursing.
The Florence Nightingale Museum has brought me closer to an understanding of this special commitment.
Wheelchair accessible, of course. Parking available. The museum is about one mile from "Big Ben" which is located at the North edge of the House of Parliament. Public transportation is recommended.
Proudly, I am married to a nurse.

It's fun to visit a museum that is physically a part of a relevant institution (in this case St Thomas hospital). Free NHS WiFi was even available.
Skip some of the queues pushing and juggling only minutes away on the south bank to see some Shrek exhibit, and instead come here for way less money, sure, a bit less pizzaz, but a whole lot more interest and knowledge.
There are many reasons why Nightingale is a legend, and this museum helped me to fill understand them.
T.
You would think it would be easy to find with a big sign, and once you see it down the pathway you are on track. A real shining light and leader in her field. This would be ultimate history on her life.
A. N.
Went on a school trip. The class had a great time. The session was informative, engaging and interactive.
J. T.
Since the wife is a nurse, this was a mandatory stop for us. It is a small museum right next to the hospital. It only takes about 30 minutes to walk through. There is plenty of Florence Nightingale memorialize and personal items, as well as history on nursing practices and a special section on the Spanish Flu. There is a small gift shop and tickets are £15 per person.
My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible
K. S.
Some very delightful details plus a special exhibition. Perfect for current and future nurses and those who love them. Letters from soldiers about their nursing care were very interesting.
H. G.
Small, but delightful museum with a great performance by an actress portraying Florence Nightingale. She had a great interaction with the audience. Very interesting objects and information about nursing and the Crimean War.
A. U.
Very interesting, a good mixture of audio, visual Ann's exhibits. Having many nurses in the family the exhibition showed to me where their views and attitudes have come from. Florence was a woman of and before her time.
r. c.
Sweet little museum though it was full of kids and I wish it was more suitable for adults (as a nurse it has a meaning for me to visit there)
s. a.
I proud to see this beautiful place. I am a nurse and I couldn't stop my tears when I walk around.
I. C.
Excellent museum we really enjoy visiting these small museums especially as my eldest enjoys it.
We wasn’t quite sure at first what we would think but we were impressed for such a small museum the amount of detail and collection they have.
M. O.
As a nurse, I found this museum very enjoyable. There are beautiful artifacts from Florence Nightingale's life and the Crimean War. I also enjoyed the special exhibit on the Spanish Flu.
P. L. Q.
Compact museum (2 rooms), full of interactive & informative materials, including replicas & antiques. "Flo" Biography well narrated. Shame no "nurses" discount available.
U. D.
Nice experience... Got to know lot, Learning experience for kids.
Entry fee is little higher.
E. K.
Beautiful little exhibit. Learned a lot about what happened to her after the war as well. Very empowering and awe inspiring.
P. B.
I really enjoyed my visit to this small museum. A live actor was playing the part of Florence in person and did a great interactive talk. Really inspiring. Thanks for a great visit. I don't know if the actor playing Florence is there every day and this was a highlight for me (I went on a Saturday), so check before you go. £9 entry 2 for 1 offer with train tickets. Spent around 90 minutes here
E. S.
Very informative about the history of modern Nursing. Also explains how an upper middle class Victorian girl turned to nursing profession.
d. a.
Beautiful museum with very helpful staff. Great for learning, lots to see and read.
R. M.
Small but lovely, very educational. After going I’m even more motivated to become a nurse!
L. T.
Great place and looked after us very well!!! Thank you from Oaks Park!!!
D. O.
Nice little museum depicting the great Florence nightingale worthy of a visit
M. A.
A nice small museum but a bit expensive.

Fantastic ! I went there as a parent help for my son's class who is in year two.
It was a wonderful experience for children an adults. Lady who pretended to be Florence Nightingale - dressed up like her , spoke in her accent, has done a very good job with children. Explained everything from her birth until her death. This school trip also included activities at the museum.
Definitely worth visiting. There is a small gift shop on site to fit any budget.
S. F.
I love that she still followed her calling to become a nurse. I also loved learning that she found this calling while caring for her family members in the home, and that she found her true passion for nursing. The museum also includes her nursing uniform, old medicine chest with vials of medicine in it, and tons of pictures of her life.
R. R.
So pleased to have stumbled across this museum. Activity sheets are provided for the younger children to help them make their way through the museum. Provides a great insight to the world as it was in the 1800's. Three sections take you through her early years to the Crimean war and there are exhibits showing how nursing has evolved. Worth a visit in my opinion.
C. H.
Completely understated museum. Met Florence who was amazing. Took my daughter here as she is learning about Florence Nightingale at school. I'm so glad I did, we both had a brilliant time and learnt so much. Would definitely recommend.
J. H.
Excellent museum. Specially enjoyed Florence Nightingale telling the children about her life. It really brought the character to life. Lots of interesting stuff to read. Had a nice lunch in the hospital. Best veggie bolognaise I've ever had.
B. W.
Great place for nurses, children or anyone interested in Florence's life. It's fairly small, so you can cover it quickly. Overall, the gift shop was somewhat overpriced, but not more than most museums.
C.
I love Florence Nightingale. I have studied her ever since I was 5. When I came to the museum, I have to admit was a little disappointed. It was fun and all (i did love it!) but just a bit... Boring. Recommended yes.
R. N.
Rather small and comfy museum based on the famous nurse. As a soon to be nurse it was a refreshing experience. The show (what I assume is for children) was very well done and even I was smiling over what a wonderful performance the actress is doing.
Im not quite sure how a non-nurse would appriciate this museum but for those who are - its worth the penny.
M. C.
Small but informative museum. Liked the abbreviated information on displays so I could choose which of the more detailed boards to read. Interesting display about Spanish flu. Got 50 per cent reduction from Nat Trust membership
J. S.
this museum highlights the achievements of Ms Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing, a must see for Nursing avid like myself
J. H.
Interesting little museum, a bit muddly but that might be its charm. I learnt Florence Nightingale was an incredible woman esp in those days.
Be prepared to follow lots of little signs and arrows to find your way to museum entrance!
L. V.
A fantastic little museum. Covers her whole life in just enough detail. I listened to a talk there and it really made the person come alive. A good 90 minutes will cover it all!
M. D.
A surprisingly good museum. Quite small but reasonably priced. Not state of the art but there is plenty of information available. There are lots of headphones around which give all the information that you should need. One of them even has a scratchy recording of Florence Nightingale's voice. A good place to spend an hour or so while in London.
J. S.
The museum had expanded since I visited several years ago. It's an inspiring experience for me, as I am a nurse and still working since 1968. I spent several hours there one day as there is a wealth of things to see and read.
I. T.
I went to the museum with my child's school on an educational trip and had the most amazing experience at the museum. The class had a host provided by the museum, who was an actress made character of Florence Nitinghale. The actress was just amazing and spot on character of Florence. The old fashion language used by her and interaction with the kids, was world class acting and we all felt as we were part of the history and enjoyed discovering the journey of this wonderful role model for children.
I would definitely visit the museum again.
If you do visit, make sure you know the history about her beforehead, as it is much easier to follow the events in the museum.
A. K.
Nice authentic exhibits, but in dreadful need of an update. Signage and sequence very confusing. Using earphones to listen, highly necessary, seems a germ/virus breeding ground. Staff standoffish and in need of customer service training. Could have been so much better....
O. H.
It's a really good museum, it has a Lot of stuff like old nursery equipment, like clothing, medicine and others. Really interesting museum sadly it's kinda small but it's worth ir if You are interested un nursery.
B. B.
A small but very informative museum. Lots of histories and pictures. Absolutely worth the visit. Exciting to learn about Florence and her achievements and dedication.
M. M.
Inspiring stories, amazing courageous woman ;very small so you can take your time through the exhibits
Information about other hero nurses filled me with awe. Edith Cavell for example was executed for caring for allied soldiers and aiding in their escape.
T. J.
Actually, was an inpatient of St.Thomas's, saw it when walking outside, Certainly, one or two bad apples in nursing and reception staff at that hospital should be frog marched there to see how things should go. Most at the adjacent hospital are fab, and the nursing staff clearly emulate her amazingly good qualities.
S. S.
Worth the visit as I am a midwife and find the history of women entering the medical field fascinating. However, it was boring for the kids. Definitely an adult oriented Museum if you are interested in this sort of history.
M. M.
Very interesting place and lots to read. My child want to go here as he did a project on her. They gave a activity sheet for him to do, though was confusing where to start with it and he got frustrated with it in 30mins. Though my child found a lot of the peep holes to high for him (he's 115 cm tall) to look into and he had to be pick up so hurt my back. I'm 163cm tall and had to tiptoe on some as well. Also it was difficult to find the entrance as Some of the sign posting was hidden.
G. O.
Lots of information in small space.
Tucked away on London's South bank just behind St Thomas's Hospital is the Florence Nightingale Museum.
It's small but absolutely packed with information and exhibits. Everything is covered from her early family life right the way through to her career in nursing. All her work (and struggle) are recorded.
Information ranges from hard facts about the wars in which she worked through to personal entries in her private journals.
The displays and activity sheet kept our little one's attention for well over an hour!
R. B.
If you are interested in the history of nursing this is a place to go. You can read interesting pieces of FN early writing and see how nursing was perceived a few years back. Good place to visit.
J. P.
Visited a few years ago when hubby had an appointment at St Thomas ‘s Hospital . Small museum but plenty to keep you occupied and lovely for school visits. You can purchase gifts on your way out .
J. H.
A tiny museum in just one room, located in St Thomas's Hospital, opposite County Hall and just across the bridge from Westminster. A well laid out journey through the life and times of Florence Nightingale. You won;t need much more than an hour to see everything.
At £7.00 for an adult ticket or £17.00 for a family ticket (During my visit in Feb 2015) it's a little pricey. Not worth a special visit unless you have a good reason, but if your passing it might be worth dropping in.
C. S.
Very interesting exhibition. As a former nurse I found it fascinating. To see Miss Nightingale's personal possessions is a real privilege. BUT the layout is confusing, floor arrows taper out, numbers in cases do not always correspond with items, photos have no explanation. This is a shame as there is such a story to tell. It could be so much better.
G. C.
I didn't actually make it into the museum, more like beelined to the gift shop at the entrance for some nursing knick knacks...they have organ shaped gummies, magnets, The museum is right next to St. Thomas hospital and walking distance from Big Ben and most of London's major tourist attractions.
L. i.
This place gives a very good feel for Florence Nightingale. Artifacts, personal items, her history and personality shine through. A great nurse. Very uptight and she wouldn't have liked me, I am sure, lol. #nursing
R. T.
Very interesting insight into the background and life of Florence nightingale. Takes around 1.5 hours to see everything. Half price for national trust members.
d. r.
Loved this out of the way museum. Loved the Florence Nightingale presentation. Was engaging and the children were entertained as well as receiving valuable information
M. O.
The museum is beautifully designed and primarily aimed at children. Even so it is still a worthwhile visit to improve your knowledge of one of the towering figures of the 19th century
D. M.
Florence Nightingale Museum - tucked inside St.Thomas Hospital, it is easy to find as it is well signposted. It's a small museum that cleverly uses mirrors to create an illusion of dpace.. I've read books about Florence Nightingale and this visit still proved to be illuminating. As s registered nurse I'm obviously biased towards the museum and I've studied Florence Nightingales nursing notes. However the museum doesn't make assumptuons about viitoesds md the story of Florence Nightingale is told in simple language.
P. C.
Absolutely fabulous, the lay out of the museum was very informative, and easy to comprehend what a wonderful and brave women she was....Only one small criticism the sighn for the museum could be a bit bigger
J. M.
A lot of interesting information about her life and work, the nursing profession in general, and the Spanish Flu. The lay out is a little confusing at first, but it's smaller enough you won't get lost. Headphones on the wall provide more information.
a.
Took my daughter who is a nurse. We didn't have to read all the various boards as there was an actress in Florence rig...telling the story of this amazing headstrong and brilliant woman. Utterly brilliant.
M. S.
It's quite a small museum but might be worth dropping by if you're in the area. There is quite a lot of information presented and some interesting exhibits but I felt it didn't make up a coherent picture. Maybe it would need a larger space to do that?
C. R.
A small but informative museum that helped my son with his school homework. Easy access from bus stops and a short walk across the bridge from Westminster
d. k.
Realy interesting to learn all about her and how nursing started mums a nurse dads retired paramedic so was nice to see them enjoy and listen to some of there stories and memories as we went around
J. S.
Wee museum tucked away behind St Thomas's Hospital. Everything you want to ken about the Lady of the Lamp is here. Usually full of school trip children and generally geared up for children rather than adults. Spent roughly 40mins here.
A. (.
We went there because of my wife who is a nurse. She loved it. Me, not so much. They clearly have extremely limited funds to run it. It is pretty educational thouhh.
R. N.
Nice little museum. Very interesting and informative. Loads of interactive things for children to do. Was nice to learn more about my ancestor.
S. A.
Really well done, very informative and creative. The person playing Florence Nightingale with the children while we were there was superb!
I. N.
A short and fascinating museum. The exhibits take you through the life of Florence nightingale in around 1 and a half to 2 hours
P. G.
For Nurses and future nurses the museum is a must!
A. A.
Very informative museum with an excellent layout and design.
j. m.
My perfect place!!! I was very impressed the different piece they have about her. I love the lamp ever ever 😍. Love u4ever miss nightingale!!!! My respects.
M. L. F.
Little museum gem, located at the grounds of St. Thomas hospital, London, that shows the importance of Florence Nightingale life specially during the Crimean war (working from Turkey) and the new nursing practices she created. There is an emphasis about her late work in London as a statistician, because she was not able to practice nursing any more due to illnesses, but continued being very close to her profession.
Mary Seacole (British-Jamaican nurse) is mentioned as well, as a contemporary nurse at the Crimean war and her importance in the use if medical plants.
There is an additional exhibition about the Spanish flu at the beginning of the 20th century.
A. y.
Very small but comprehensive and we'll laid out. Directly under Gassiott House. Needs to be better signposted for visitors who won't know it's there by the London Eye perhaps.
M. S.
Wonderful exhibition of artefacts from Florence Nightingale's life, and interesting background detail. I was enormously privileged to be there when there was an actress playing the part of Florence. Fabulous.
P. G.
Interesting museum showing the life and work of Florence Nightingale, and her affect of the development of nursing. Visit if you have an interest in nursing or history
K. G.
A gem of a museum in London. Do go. Well laid out and a good layout, telling the story of a great woman. I learnt a lot about Florence.
R. K.
The Florence Nightingale Museum may be small but we have big plans for her on May 12 as this is "The Lady with the Lamps" birthday. And to celebrate this event I'll be working with Hector and Susan in setting up a screen in the stratosphere. It will span from the West to the East and will receive thought projections from actual celebrants wearing Alpha-Beta-Theta receivers attached to their foreheads. What the script calls for is for all of us to mnemonically remember the word "SCREEN" as this is a type of sacred Mesh that conveys linguistically when activated.
For example when the (S) in screen is stimulated, that's the Southern cardinal point direction; then it comes to life and travels the arcing "Hi -C" rainbow from the West or Left to the East or Right. For those of you who can translate the Spanish language this reveals a NEW expression which is,
"They believe ⚕". I find this quite fascinating as Florence Nightingale and I share the same Primal Zodiac designations of the Taurus Bull and Dragon who form the Rattlesnake. So this ⚕creen(s) with the ascending "s" is one that has been around for some time as it is the iconic brand often seen on ambulances . It is know as the Rod of Asclepius of Greek mythology, a deity associated with healing and medicine. Today my Dad and Uncle Fred visited Florence county on the way to Iron Mountain. I instructed them to plant some magic beans in the soil of Spread Eagle Barrens State Natural Area for the upcoming "Lamp Show". The beans are Saba in nature, in biblical times historians say the queen of Sheba is rich and *ostentatious. This *pretentious display once illuminated will take on a Florence Nightingale life of her own, as artificial intelligence and algorithms fill a cardioid field and the beat of her heart. Prepare to witness a mathematical wonder as a dragon scale fractal who is over 1,306.7 miles high lifts from the mist of the Mississippi and reflection of the column bus assembly of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, & Louisiana. It will be like the Thunder Over Louisville event that just took place. Now If I could just figure out how to get the Pandora Genie back in the bottle so I can find my true soul mate other than a science project gone haywire.
A. S.
This museum was fantastic! Staying for the talk with the "real" Florence Nightingale was a real treat. What a great way to learn.
D. L.
Lovely, explain the history of a great woman. For those interested on the history of Nurse care as a professional.
F. G.
Wonderful and interesting. Truly inspiring for any nurse and with a lot of children tours available aswell
K. B.
Displays very informative. The school kids there enjoyed the lady dressed as Florence and her tales.
C. P.
I'm just not quite sure I learned much, or mainly about her upbringing. The museum design does a lot with not much, is pretty cool, but also utterly confusing.
H. M.
London's best kept secret..Spent 2 hours here and could have stayed longer. Needs better signage. Took ages to find it. Glad I persevered
C. H.
Great experience for all, especially young ones. My daughter had been doing a project on Florence nightingale at school, this really helped

I visited the Florence Nightingale Museum with my SO a while ago, and when we read the museum is facing problems to remain fully open, we both got sad.
The museum is not so big, and focuses on the life of Florence Nightingale and facts about her contributions to modern nursery. Visiting this museum you may get a grasp on how things were back in Florence times, and why her improvements in nursing care are so relevant.

(Translated) Located on the grounds of St. Thomas Hospital, very close to the Westminster Bridge on the River Thames. You can learn about Nightingale's success in the Crimina War, her life, and the value and significance of nurses on the battlefield. Also, a special exhibition of the 200th anniversary of Nightingale's birth? I was there.
It's small, so an hour may be enough for a tour. Paid and advance reservation is required. In addition to the toilet, there is a souvenir shop.

(Translated) The museum tells the story of Florence, who founded the foundations of nursing, and other pioneer nurses like her. A little history of health written from the perspective of the one who discovered that simple acts such as hand washing and cleaning the environment save lives !!

(Translated) The St. Thomas Hospital, on the other side of Big Ben, houses the Nightingale Museum.
Nightingale was a nurse at Thomas Hospital.
Thomas Hospital is still a solid hospital.
I paid £ 8 for admission, I remember, but I paid.
There were few exhibits and I wanted nightingale goods as souvenirs, but there were no notable purchases.
Maybe you don't have to go unless you are a nurse.

(Translated) Small but genuinely interesting and different from the usual museum. Florence Nightingale was the first lay nurse and thanks to her contribution important changes in hospitals are due. But not only that, she was a woman of culture and everything pours into this cute little collection.
For those who love the genre it is unmissable, but it can also be interesting for those who do not know the subject.

(Translated) The museum is in a hospital area of st. Thomas. Nothing of the old complex is conserved, which is a pity. They have a small but very cute souvenir shop. They make a discount for being a student.
Once inside you can see the evolution of modern nursing, Florence's personal belongings, her books, uniforms of the time ... There are panels everywhere explaining her life and headphones as an audio guide on the walls.
It is very interesting whether you are a health professional or not. In 1 hour maximum you have seen it. When we went there was a school group and a museum worker, dressed as Florence, explained the life of the nurse narrated in the first person.

(Translated) A small but fine museum on the grounds of St Thomas Hospital in London. With the help of many pictures, short texts, various illustrative material and short video sequences, both laypeople and care-loving people can learn a lot about the importance of Florence Nightingale's work. Definitely worthwhile if you are also interested in the origin of the nursing profession. In the shop you can also buy books, knick-knacks and rubber ducks in the F.N. look ^^.

(Translated) Nightingale's books are still famous as textbooks for nursing schools. It is an image of a white angel, but the actual girlfriend is completely the opposite. “An angel is not a person who sprinkles beautiful flowers, but a person who fights for those who suffer,” her materials are gathered in one corner of the hospital where she worked to establish her, and people are well understood. But isn't it suitable for the general public? A place for advanced users (?)
