Reviews of Institute of Contemporary Arts
R. E.
Finally, I think my worries are put to sleep. Leave my art trajectory in the hands of The Institute. Nice cozy house for great films. Friendly faces all around, no pretentious knowing all and decor to the minimum; I do really appreciate it. Great location. Very much recommend.
R. D.
Friendly welcoming staff at reception. Very clean toilet facilities. Had a great time at the War Inna Babylon exhibition.
R. S.
Do you like art? Do you like being in close proximity to Buck Pal? If you answered ‘yes’ to both of those questions then you are going to LOVE the ICA. You heard it here first, tell your mates
E. d. S.
I went to see a phenomenal and eye opening exhibition here last week. I learnt so much and I spent two hours taking everything in but could have easily stayed for much longer! The staff were super nice and welcoming. Free entry for students makes it more accessible and they also offer student discounts on books and other items for sale! It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to visit again
H. R.
It is fantastic to see Herbert's legacy thriving. The ICA is a fabulous institute of which I am a member. The bookshop has an interesting and unique range of books and the exhibitions/films are always incredibly enlightening. I would say that membership is good value for money, and there is a student discount.
M. M.
Normal entry fee is £3, but I visited on a Tuesday, which was free. I have only given 3 stars because there wasn't much exhibition space when I went; just one exhibit on the ground floor and two exhibits in two rooms on the second floor. At 12.30 however there was an interesting creation in the cinema near the entrance; a film posing a series of questions with various people expressing their views on the subject.
If there was more to see here I would have rated higher.

ICA used to be a great place to go to especially when they put on live concerts in the 2000's! It now feels quite neglected, perhaps lack of funding, covid etc? The bar is understocked, with very little choice. The cinema (Screen One) was freezing with a bad smell. Only 12 people seeing a newly released film on a Saturday evening. Seems to be a general lack of awareness of it's programming, A shame but hopefully it will come back to life some day soon.
S. S.
My favourite gallery in London! The exhibition is great as well as a restaurant, book shop and cinema! Also, I was impressed with their toilet too! Most importantly interior and exterior are gorgeous!!!!!
b. b.
Went to see the War Inna Babylon exhibition, as reviewed on BBC news. I found it thought provoking and we'll documented as I am old enough to have lived in these times and remember many of the events .
The staff were very helpful and the facilities were good.
N. A.
Always something on that fills your heart or mind. Good vibes. Has a cafe with fair prices, art & theory bookshop and a small cinema.
J. P.
This place is amazing and my partner and I will return time and again. Even though we were the only two people watching a film we weren’t hurried and everything was done with a smile!
H. R.
Personally I spend way too much time here....
In terms of Art, Cinema, and Theatre, you cant find a better place in London. I personally do not work in the creative industry so shut out from most non public events but this is a great place to see some amazing work.
In terms of film - they have a great slate and show alot of work that I cant find anywhere else around London. Ofcourse they show the odd mainstream hit, but if you are looking to find indie international cinema, heres your place.
I have also been to quite a few of their art exhibitions+installations and again been super impressed.
The crowd is not is stuffy at all, the staff are super sweet and theres a great little bar area where everyone is super social and friendly. i have actually been to the bar before on a friday before heading out without even seeing an event on.
m. b.
Hidden gem. Great place to get out of the hustle and bustle. Have seen some great cinema here, and they have a lovely cafe bar.
A. E.
We saw a film about The Velvet Underground and had a beer. Nice experience. Great cultural ambiance.
S.
Such a relasxed atmosphere, really relaxed and helpful service! The cafe is great! Open and fresh. The coffee tastes awesome and their selection of snacks and food are so healthy and unexpected! We Will definitely be back!
J. B.
I went to see Summer of Soul in the Cinema here, it's a cool place to visit with a bar and shop and exhibitions. The cinema was a decent size and good screen, however the sound system was awful, I payed a fair price of 12 pound for a ticket but was extremely disappointed with the audio quality. The film was a music documentary and it was a tinny and harsh sound with zero bass, me and my girlfriend left with ringing aching ears and made the whole two hours pretty unenjoyable, hopefully this gets sorted in the future.
L. *.
Fab exhibition showcasing the work and research of the Honey Suckle Company! Most definitely worth a look, plus they are open until 9pm on most days. Check out the Prima Materia upstairs too and the bookstore!
B. S.
Visited the ICA a few times, and always had a pleasant experience. Cafe is nice, and the film experience I had was a good one :) Staff helpful and friendly - always come away feeling a little more knowledgeable and with an injection creativity. A stones throw from Trafalgar Square & St James Park - a super central London location
R. A.
It's always good to come here and experience the weird and wonderful. I came to a film screening with a Q+A with the director and crew afterwards, so you get the find out things you wouldn't normally get to know. Cafe is reasonably priced too if you need some refreshment beforehand
G. F.
A good place to start your journey into contemporary art. This sort of art is hard to get especially for people that have not appreciated the past forms of art yet. This establishment should be the first stop on a long journey of self determination and understanding of the world. Beers at the bar are priced at 5.5£ a pint which is fair for central London.
J. C.
Love this space - for film, art, books and something to eat. Has a great, relaxed feel.
T.
Criminally underrated (and likely underfunded), the ICA boasts an eclectic showing of Cinema, both past and present, with exhibitions and live performances to join it. If you’re gonna be visiting more than once a month, best to snag a Red Membership. Seems pricey until you remember that once bought all films are free, along with the performances, exhibitions etc.
M. J.
Went to 'Inna Babylon' exhibit. It was very good - eye opening. Will try and go again before exhibit ends in September.
Worth a visit.
B. W.
Recently saw the War Inna Babylon exhibition here, with an impromptu tour from co-curator Stafford Scott. The exhibition and tour were extremely informative, moving, emotional and important. Was amazing to have inside knowledge of the gallery, especially given Stafford's personal connections to the pieces on display and history behind the exploration of institutional racism in England. The gallery gave me a fresh perspective on the windrush generation and everything that was experienced at that time, including the terrible living conditions of black nurses and the dichotomy of attitudes between older and younger generations of Carribbean migrants. Would highly recommend both this specific exhibition and the art gallery as a whole, in a very nice part of London and an amazing book/zine store to get stuck into afterwards.
M. H.
Awesome gallery with lots of exhibits from graduate students. Unique and less touristy then the bigger art galleries. Close to Trafalgar square and easy to find. Also has a good priced coffee shop and a small book stall with great titles
S. R. M.
Great exhibitions and very helpful staff
S. J.
This has a quirky feel about it and a different experience to the usual chain cinemas. For serious film goers
Also puts on small exhibitions from time to time.
M. K.
War Inna Babylon was an amazingly detailed and powerful account of recent Black British History. A must for all Black Londerners.
N. G.
£4 in which is alright. Not and at all. I think though you need to know what you're going to see. Most of the exhibition went over my head.
M. D.
Nice friendly staff and the cinema seats are very comfortable
M. x.
💚 the ICA from its history to present exhibitions and events. The bookshop is really good
N. N.
Get an annual membership and truly enjoy the diversity of what's on offer. Dining, courtesy of Rochelle Canteen is also fantastic.
Y. N.
Very nice place for short small films with great seating. Has plenty of arts to see and experience and is overall a really inviting atmosphere, however the auditorium gets very hot during films even without wearing much. I would still recommend this place to anyone who enjoys contemporary pieces.
M. P.
Inspiring gallery, great events and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. It's really worth the membership, the deals are great and there's always something interesting to look forward to. I sometime just go there for the rice-balls in the cafe - totally awesome, a great place to meet or hangout.

Given the pandemic, seating should be allocated in the cinema and social distancing allowed.
T. H.
Nice little art gallery, went to the Babylon exhibition which was eye opening and very well curated.
K. C.
Long queue for food and drinks before the movies, giving some anxiety as most film booking won't have allocated seats. Apart from this, very cool space, great film selections. Cheap coffee table books to pick up.
B. C.
Very cool space with a very interesting crowd. There is a bookshop, a cinema, gallery space and Rochelle Canteen which is a celebrated restaurant on its own. The cinema shows very artistic / interesting movies, and there are membership options to make it cheaper. Worth a visit.
R. V.
Great venue. Bar is overpriced
l. r.
Great friendly team and have art to for viewing
M. S. W.
A great place to see films you would never be able to see elsewhere in decently sized film theatres. The cafe and restaurant are also great. A wide range of art books are available in the store and exhibitions have also been intriguing. A hidden gem and well-worth becoming a member
M. D.
I was a member here, when I lived in London. Cool films on, and with a cinema ticket you can view the exhibitions for free, though they can vary in quality. Some interesting events go on here too. A nice cafe, and an extremely interesting and unusual bookshop, plus, straight after you can check out the greenery lakes and ducks, swans and other birdlife straight across the street.
J. R.
Great event, Sistren in the Struggle. Many thanks to Stephen
L. C.
Good venue. Seats could be a bit comfier
J. K.
Let me start off saying I'm not into art that much so I might not understand of lot of it but it's a very nice atmosphere with a wonderful cafe and great working areas. I have gone to see some Japanese films and have had great experiences.
N. C.
Incredible exhibition place. Very artistic. With fantastic staff that makes you feel naturally welcomed. In addition to the exhibitions there is the pleasant and very relaxing Rochelle Canteen, and the ICA Bookstore filled with very well chosen books that you will want to buy.
M. K.
Excellent film and exhibition program. The red membership is great value for money if you are into cinema. Amazing series, like Pedro Costa's for example.
M. H.
For me ICA is a great initiative which gives people from all walks of life opportunity to watch great international films for a symbolic fee. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I hope they keep up the good work.
I. Y.
Great events, but the building is looking very tired
N. B.
Best arts in town! Cinema and exhibitions with occasional theatre and gigs. Day membership gives you access to just the exhibitions. Although the place is open late, the exhibitions close around 6pm. The cinema is real reportory, short film programmes, Q&A and workshops. Always worth tracking the performance space, a gig here is usually seminal! Great food too. Bit expensive for art students so it's an older media crowd. Good quiet bar if you want to meet in town.
A. F.
The ICA was one of the first places I visited when I moved to London 18 years ago. I still remember how special it felt to visit, and it became one of my favourite places. The film selection remains excellent. However, watching films there can be quite uncomfortable owing to the seats and, worse, you can often hear crowds of people leaving the adjacent screen which is really distracting. I appreciate having an art house cinema in such a great central location, but I mainly visit for the exhibitions rather than the films now. Also has very good book shop.
J. D.
I adore the ICA, such a treasure. Films that you'll never catch anywhere else, and a bookshop that is so mind-expanding I feel merely looking at the titles is an education. Loads of one-off events in support of emerging artists. Just a wonderful place all round, get on their mailing list...
I think they still do an incredibly cheap student membership of £15/year but they are putting the prices up soon, sadly. £3 for the cinema was SUCH a bargain.... 😎
R. B.
One of the best places for contemporary exhibitions in London. The cinema is really cool and price is okay. The cafe is also nice. Exhibitions usually cost around 3 pounds. They also have a bookshop full of amazing magazines.
R. C.
This place has intelligent films and is refreshingly free of the commercial adverts that you get at big cinema chains. The people are friendly and evidently passionate too and there is a decent cafe. The cinemas are not especially comfortable and are very badly lit. Meanwhile the decor is tired and there is a grim bookshop, full of pretentious twaddle or tired, outdated supposedly radical claptrap, without any attempt at balance or levity.
P. J.
Although a great location and building, the venue doesn't seem to be set-up very well for gigs. There was no cloakroom, we had to queue outside because "they didn't want the lobby area to be too busy" and the bars were massively understaffed. The toilet facilities next to the gig room were also far too small for the number of people they had there. On the plus side, the gig was great, the sound system good and gig room had unobstructed viewing and a good atmosphere, despite there being no air con and it being hotter than a camels armpit.
If the bars could get some more staff and plenty more card machines and a cloakroom was set-up somewhere, they would have a great venue for many acts.
J. S.
One of the best non pretentious venues for interesting one off art shows in London. Have seen many cult films here. Very reasonably priced. Has a café and book shop.
Staff are enthusiastic, friendly, approachable and informative.
In close proximity to St James's Park, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.
S. C.
I love this space. On certain days entry is only £1 and it's right in the middle of central London. There is an art house cinema showing films from all over the world, a bookshop, and exhibits (some are even free). Easy to visit at lunch or after work. Disappointed I missed the Juergen Teller exhibit (years ago) but I went to see 'A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night' (a Persian Vampire movie) and it was a really nice way to spend an evening and still be able to wake up early for work the next morning.
J. R.
Very fond of the ICA, the art it exhibits and the films it shows. The staff are pretty nice too. But the seats in the cinema are clapped out and in dire need of replacing - really quite uncomfortable. If you've the choice of seeing a film here or somewhere you know has decent seats well... unless it's a short film...
S. D.
Interesting little venue, watched a documentary at the cinema... staff were polite and ran the screening smoothly. Only complaint was the size of the screen, however tickets were very reasonably priced compared to other venues. Look forward to finding out what other treats ICA has in store!
H. M.
One of my favourite places in London to watch a film, see a play, art, music. Have a lovely bar which has the best fried chicken! Lovely vibe and lovely staff. Keep up the good work. ❤
D. R.
I don’t go often enough because it’s a poky cinema with 2 screens, one only slightly better than the other but both a bit naff. And it’s about £12 a pop. Having said that, it’s completely unique and off-script according to what every other cinema in London offers and that has to be applauded. I went tonight to watch Saving Brinton with a Q&A afterwards with star and directors. A wonderful film, achievement and evening. Thank you for giving them a platform and release, if only for one showing. Their UK premiere. What a treat. Inside you can peruse various forms of art centric literature as well as visit their cafe. Exhibitions exist on ground and first floor. Not sure about accession terms of elevators but ground level is good.
A. P.
Was the first thing that I visited in London and by far one of the most remarkable ones. At the time they hosted an exhibition on Forensic Architecture and it was excellent! Extremely quality material explaining the topic in great detail.
There is also a great caffee inside.
The entrance fee was 1£.
D. J.
Some nice exhibitions, but the cinema is really expensive for the quality of the experience. The screens are relatively small and I got tinitus from the loudness of the speakers whilst sitting on the front row.
s. p.
Excellent place to experience some very good Contemporary Art..Plus a very good Cafe' and nice comfortable Cinema,s that show mainly Art House Movies as you would expect..The exterior of this building ,in my opinion,is one of the most beautiful in London..Georgeous inside too.No wonder the people who work there all seem to be very happy and smiley. Highly recommend a visit here if you are a Tourist visiting London.I did have the misfortune of attending a John Cooper Clarke " Poetry" reading there once.🤪Dragged there by a freind .Oh my goodness he is bad and I'm using the old school meaning!!..
J. S.
I stopped off at the Institute of Contemporary Arts for a coffee after a meal out. I loved the interior and space in the venue.
The staff serving at the bar however were poorly organised and took a long time for a simple order, including confusing eachother and my friends by constantly changing who was managing the order which resulted in being given 3 different prices for the overall order. The bar wasn't especially busy which made the situation all the more bizarre. Probably best to avoid if you want to relax over a drink in the evening.
F. B.
Great cafe bar serving drinks well into the evening. It can be difficult to get a table but is well worth it, and has some tucked around the back if you can't get one initially. Good for a quiet drinks with a few friends.
J. L.
One of Londons many public buildings showcasing some of the worlds best contemporary artists. There's always something interesting going on here, and there's a large range of exhibitions. The restaurant is also great
s. t.
1£ for the entrance. Not much to see. Quiet and nice space to have a coffee though.
F. T.
This is a really nice place, besides the exhibitions they have a great small menu and drinks. One of the few places in London where you don't have to shout while having a pint with friends.
L. B.
Fantastic selection of contemporary world and art cinema. From drama to docs the ICA always brings me cinema of note.
Regardless of whether I will like a given film, I have always left the ICA feeling refreshed with hope for contemporary cinema.
The exhibition's, bookshop and cafe are all also fab, but the cinema is the main attraction for me!
S. E.
A real pillar of the London art community. A small gallery, with a cafe/bar, cinema and bookshop. The bookshop stocks magazines and zines, as well as a selection of books on photography, art, graphic design and art theory. There is also a small section of special/antiquarian books near the cashier. On a general note the bookshop stocks quite a few books you probably can’t get elsewhere in London. The cinema is also great for art specific films both new and re-runs. Entry to the gallery is 1£ or free with a Artfund card, films are priced separately.
N. B.
One of my favourite places in London. Great selection of independent films, exhibitions usually top notch, immersive, thought-provoking. I'd recommend the talks + one off events - very unique. Amazing selection of books, I'd go there just for that. Specific selection of gigs, (Dilon, These New Puritans). Very well put together: quality of sound, visuals etc. ICA do a lot with intimate spaces. Resident advisor collab event was awesome a few years back too. 1 note - I'd say when it's busy it's annoying to queue for a pint for AGES and beer runs out fast (maybe better prep before a sold out show), but you brush it off I guess..
E. B.
Went to watch Climax by Gasper Noe in one of the cinema screens. Cinema probably seats around 20 people, good atmosphere. Didn't see much else of the place. Looks fairly minimal. Website is not user friendly.
c. b.
I love the exhibit here. A bit pricey the bar. As a venue to watch movies is not the best (just a small room with uncomfortable chairs) BUT the film quality and the alternative fleur you can experience during ICA festivals are extremely great!
J. N.
The art has been a bit up and down over the years, but it is a gem which is worth visiting. Their cafe/bar is great for meeting friends and is often devoid of tourists despite being smack in the middle of town.
J. C.
I came here to see The Punk Singer in the ICA cinema, a perfect venue for this film. A pretty small cinema but intimate enough for independent films. The box office/shop area is a bit manic just before the films are about to start but the queues go down quickly. Really love this venue, great atmosphere.
X. W.
This is a good cultural visit if you like your art a bit more modern than normal but less pretentious than the Tate Modern. It's also a good event venue, with a spacious café, two auditoriums and versatile exhibition space upstairs. I've been here for a few product launches in the past which work really well.
If you're just passing by, the café is a great place for quick refreshment.
S.
Not having any ventilation is ridiculous it's like a sauna
G. B.
Over the years i must have clocked hundreds of visits here, and i have watched here some of the rarest films that are close to my heart. I brought and accidentally met scores of friends here, and made many memories. A staple purveyor if you like cinema, theatre, art, languages, fashion, photography, beer...
B. K.
I like the quirkiness of this place however for the LFF film screening last night, the queueing system could have been better. The bar should also stock snacks for ordinary folk.
A. K.
Great experience visiting it with my best friend from the USA. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience in this lovely and tranquil setting looking at some of the great contemporary pieces of arts. We very much enjoyed our time and will come again soon.
E. C.
Great intimate cinema screen for indy type films. If you're watching something here, arrive early. Seats aren't allocated so it can be a bit of a free for all particularly if the performance is a sell out.
J.
If I lived in this area I would certainly get an annual membership here! The time we spent here, was fantastic but we just did not have the time to show true appreciation. Rochelle Canteen defiantly gets a shout out! It is also 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
M. c. m.
Amazing workshops and events promoting the youth culture. Great film programming, and their £3 day cinema makes it affordable to enjoy quality indie films without slashing your wallet.
A. T.
Discover something new in art, film or books and lose yourself in the fabulous books on offer, drink in the bar or mingle with other like minded people in this hidden away haven in London. I'm glad to say it is still here after all these years and making a revival with member deals and film previews and discussions and talks on Friday lunchtimes. I remember going to bohemian exhibitions and even an album launch party and socialising with all the musicians as the venue can be hired privately for celebrations and have come back to rediscover its magic once again. I recommend you come and see what it has to offer you!
B. M.
Great film and art selection. And really good and exciting food choices! Everything is concentrated in a relatively small space so it's never too overwhelming.
J.
Nestled among the regal architecture of the Mall lies the ICA: a beautiful and undeniably edgy institution of creativity and radical art. Set up in 1947, it has a storied and unparalleled history of pushing the artistic envelope. But, you can readily take in the exhibitions, talks, films and performances that occur within the pristine white walls.
The cinemas show boundary-pushing indie and foreign film, a bookshop full of publications that would look lovely on your coffee table, and art galleries doing that contemporary, radical thing.
C. B.
Over 25 years since I was last at the ICA. Went to see two films in two days. One in the afternoon, aircon great as one of the hottest days. Lovely cafe/bar, helpful staff and a lovely little cinema. Saw Sakamoto Documentary and McQueen! Will not leave it so long next time!
M. N.
Excellent exhibitions and film program. I definitely recommend film lovers to purchase the Red Membership: for £200 per year you are granted access to ALL movies at any time.
D. M.
I've walked past the ICA a hundred times but never went in until tonight. I missed out! Extremely interesting exhibition, a cool bar, a cinema and more! Will definitely be going back.
O. F.
One of my favourite cinemas and art galleries in London. The ICA curate the most interesting and diverse programme of films on a regular basis – well worth a membership!
D.
Great place. A great book shop and interesting rolling displays. Good range of unusual to find films in the cinemas. Fairly priced especially for such a tourist area.
l. m.
The bookshop it's beautiful I want all the books, and they have a really good vibe
B. B. B.
Loved this place since day 1. Went with a friend of mine to see an exhibition and the next day I became an ACA member.
Far from the commercial environment in other galleries, this place has a special vibe suitable for all those people who want to breathe art and culture. Having a whine at the bar and talking about art wwisith your "giest" is just priceless.
Z. M.
Plenty of interesting and unusual Art and film work being shown. The cafe is also very good value for money and the views are beautiful.
A. E.
Iconic contemporary art gallery in a regal setting. Recently redone. Great bookshop for all things art. Also has a cinema. Check programme as they always have stuff on.
S. E.
Quirky exhibitions, films and events, good restaurant but in particular an outstanding bookshop on culture and arts - the browsiest in town with lots of small press stock.
H. P.
Always love a trip to the ICA (and honestly really worth getting a membership.) Just popping in on the off chance to see what’s going on is worth it- they have a great bookshop and cafe for perusing which are both full of delights
B. B.
The cinema is pretty small and you won't be able to bring drinks from the bar inside. The movies playing are generally interesting however.
T. B.
Good exhibition although the lighting made it difficult to read some of exhibits information
C. W.
Fabulous- Nike event!
t. c.
Interesting art house cinema - trailers but no adverts ! Very good restaurant. Other space seems to be under redevelopment. Awaiting with interest to see what they come up with.
M. Z.
A great place to see films, exhibitions and poetry, a hot hub for all things contemporary and not necessarily main stream art. Love this place. Always smth interesting to see or do.
E. Y.
Good place to see some of the best contemporary art and bookshop. As an artist, always inspirational space and projects! (Don't complain about cafe/bar, go somewhere else!)
J. R.
Excellent selection of movies, cool bar and what smells like a great kitchen (unfortunately we forgot to book a table, but will make sure to get a meal next time)
T. C.
I think everyone can find something for themselves, as the array of books, exhibitions and films can cater to different tastes and interpretations. Besides, you can meet and mingle with like-minded people, share ideas and experiences and learn and grow, finding new and exciting events to provoke your mind and inspire you.
C. W.
Dear ICA, thank you very much for your wonderful daily mail with good sections of reading, watching and listening soul materials during lockdown. Wish to visit soon. Take care xx
J. L.
Another hidden gem in the heart of London. A few steps away from St. James' s PArk, you can find an astonishing art and cultural offer, a small bookshop with a great art selection, a small cinema displaying top independent films and a quiet café given the location (£1 pound entrance though)
D. T.
Attended an event here. Good location, so the venue is able to accommodate events, the venue needs to be dressed up if hiring privately. Overall good venue, with friendly staff.
R. K.
Saw a Japanese full here. Very artsy place. Frankly confused with what counts for art here, but don't listen to this middle aged man if you like modern stuff.
T. B.
Cinema 2 is very uncomfortable and small, be warned. I hear cinema 1 is better. Can't speak for the rest of the place, I'm sure it's great
M. D.
Lots of nooks and crannies each with a different feel. Decent range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Food looked nice but I did not try any myself this visit.
E. A.
An amazing production! Must be seem
P. C.
A great cinema with adventurous programming and excellent, friendly staff. The Red Membership is the best value in London for cinephiles.
A. V.
A lovely centre of creative contemporary arts, a merit to London. Evolving arts exhibits and a cinema they also have a full featured gig venue.
A. L.
Nice film screening section. Super reasonable price. Unique and less touristy then the bigger art galleries.
M. c. m.

Brief but intriguing visit. Need to arrange another visit so one can spend as much time as such an establishment deserves.

The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is an artistic and cultural centre on The Mall in London, just off Trafalgar Square. Located within Nash House, part of Carlton House Terrace, near the Duke of York Steps and Admiralty Arch, the ICA contains galleries, a theatre, two cinemas, a bookshop and a bar. Stefan Kalmár became its director in 2016.
J. S.
I stopped off at the Institute of Contemporary Arts for a coffee after a meal out. I loved the interior and space in the venue.
The staff serving at the bar however were poorly organised and took a long time …
D. R.
I don’t go often enough because it’s a poky cinema with 2 screens, one only slightly better than the other but both a bit naff. And it’s about £12 a pop. Having said that, it’s completely unique and off-script according to what every other …
R. R.
A frequent visitor here during the London Film Festival. Nice book shop and cafe with cosy screens
D. D.
A tiny yet powrful arts space, with exhibitions often being of a politically charged nature.
