Reviews of The Cartoon Museum
v. s.
It's a very small museum with a nice atmosphere. You can learn to draw some cartoons with your children in the activity area, learn about the historic evolution of cartoons. When we visited recently we participated in Oxford University's laughter lab study about cartoons which by itself was fun. Both me and my 8 year old son enjoyed the visit. Children enter for free and there are convenient bathrooms.

i love visiting the museum and had many good laughs with several of the cartoons exhibited. it is quite a small collection but pretty decent. also, they have been quite affected by the pandemic (the opened right before it kicked in) and really need more people to know about it and visit. bonus points for the souvenir store! very creative and made me want to buy several items
E. B.
We visited this museum as a group of friends. I really enjoyed my time. It is a small museum with a good collection of original drawings. It was nice to see the historical evolution of British cartoons. The staff are kind and helpful and the toilets are very clean. It was worth the ticket price.
P. R.
My first visit since it moved. They've used the space well, staff are friendly, shop is good. However the permanent exhibition is now very focused on political and gag cartoons, with virtually no comics or sequential art. An impressive collection but quite niche (and little interest to kids of any age I'd imagine). Much narrower focus than the old place. The current temporary exhibit, on Judge Dredd, is tiny (see photo) - 10 mostly nondescript pieces of original art and a video. Sadly I can't imagine I'd pay to come back for whatever the next exhibit is.
A. N.
Lovely cheap place, lovely staff, interesting if you enjoy cartoons, comics or even British counter culture/satire. Good gift shop too, wish it had more Beano personally but I collect Beano.
M. G.
Fascinating exhibits, well laid out, knowledgeable and friendly staff and volunteers. If you're remotely interested in cartoons and comics you'll find something to enjoy. The activities are fun too.
M. B.
Enjoyable museum, laid out chronologically with insightful captions that add a lot of value and context about the works on display. Worthwhile to anyone interested in the history of our shared cultural experience (but not really for kids, although there is a room for them to explore their creativity).
J. D.
Excellent way to spend 90 minutes! Wide range of material with good commentary. Not really a place for kids. Small shop on site. No food, but eateries nearby.
J. K.
A little disappointing for the price. Spent about £8.50 for an adult ticket so I was expecting quite a large display but it is all pretty much in one room. Also went as my son is a Beano/Dandy fan and it showed frames of some of the characters but there was nothing actually there. Not sure why they would advertise it if it's not on display.
M.
One of London's hidden gems. The volunteer on the front desk was very informative. The cartoons were well presented and the whole exhibition was fun to see. If you have some free time it is well worth a visit.
D. L.
A fun little museum in the heart of London. Been to a few exhibitions here and they always have interesting and engaging topics. The price is good too - especially if you have a National Art Pass, then it's free. Would recommend to anyone looking for something to pass an hour or so in the capital.
M. M.
This is a little gem of a museum, hidden away in the back streets of Fitzrovia. Entry prices are very fair for the exhibition £8.50 Adult, £5.0 Conc and £3.0 Student.
I can't define the concept of the cartoon any better than that given by the curator in the introductory spiel "They are works of art with an ulterior motive; they observe, report, disturb, disrupt, amuse, attack, pock fun and pontificate.
Very enjoyable and entertaining exhibition of Cartoons, additionally there is a developing exhibition of Comic Book material. I could actually spend a couple of hours here if I was to absorb myself in the details of every cartoon.
J. H. C.
Ongoing Judge Dredd exposition, little but interesting
D. S.
Small British focused museum. Easy size to digest. Has a temporary exhibition space. Not that suitable for children or even teenagers.
G. D.
Fun, quirky museum devoted to history and exemplars of the cartoon form. Interesting way to spend an hour or so. There is a children's activity room, but otherwise, not really for children, just so you know.
M. F.
It is small, but for a quick visit when walking through Oxford Street or even before going shopping, it is pretty nice. If you like comics or even draw as a hobby, this museum is great to get insoiration fron different styles :)
If you have your Student Art Pass, it is free!

We recently visited The Cartoon Museum on Little Russell Street near the British Museum. In the end, we found this to be a rather pricey museum experience that will be much better appreciated by cartoon enthusiasts who want to learn a bit about the history and evolution of the world of cartoons.
What you can see at this small museum is a nice historical account of the evolution of cartoons, featuring wall displays and various cartoon illustrations through the centuries. The focus is not on modern cartoons but mainly up until the end of the 20th century instead. Much of what you will see throughout the exhibition space is quite texty and geared for adults instead of children. In fact, there is a real risk that children will grow bored here.
What we enjoyed the most would probably be the nice downstairs exhibition dedicated to the late 20th century British cartoon and TV programme 'Spitting Image'. In addition to the wall displays, there are character puppets and a TV showing old episodes, this was enjoyable to watch.
Upstairs there were some wall displays, featuring cartoon strips and a few posters for notable favourites of the 20th century. These were nice to browse through. However, similar to the ground floor, everything seemed to be more adult-friendly and now particularly well developed or intended for younger visitors.
We spent around 45 minutes going through the various displays and were finished, ready to make our way to lunch. Photography is allowed within the museum. However, they ask that you only take general pictures of the rooms and not specific pictures of the historic cartoon illustrations.
In the end, we left feeling this museum could be better by including more modern cartoons into the exhibition and by reducing the heavy amount of wall text found throughout, replacing it with more modern, interactive type displays which might be more interesting, appealing and suitable to younger audiences.
Lastly, the high entry fee means that this museum will be better suited for enthusiasts instead of those with a simple interest in what can be seen The Cartoon Museum.
K. S.
Cute museum with a varied selection of artwork. It does at times focus heavily on Judge Dredd so would be a must for 2000AD fans.
There is a small room upstairs for children to hone their cartoon skills and the staff are friendly. At £7 for entry it is a worth while place to team up with the British Museum round the corner.
S. B.
Cartoon museum is located in the close proximity of famous British Museum. It is situated in a small area and hence I took around two rounds of the same block before being able to locate it, but the visit is entirely worth of searching. They have the pictures of famous cartoonists, satirical cuts from the newspapers or the books. Some funny cutouts, where you can put in your face and get some pictures clicked. They also have an area where children can sit and draw. There is a little shop from where one can buy badges of different comic characters, posters, psotcards and much more. For any cartoon/comic fan this place is a must visit.
M. A.
For those who like cartoons and comics, this would be a great place to browse a big collection of British work. Great efforts made to bring all this in one venue. There is a store as well on the site.
S. G.
Wonderful museum showing a vast array of cartoon history. Passionate staff and volunteers and a great selection of books in the gift shop made for a very enjoyable visit. Lots of events on for children and a separate space for drawing your own cartoons. Many events on the website too. Great little charity.
R.
Not much into comics myself but still had a great time and learned a lot. Friendly staff especially Steve
M. U.
Fascinating museum revealing the history of comics and cartoons
D. M.
Very good experience and great workshops! Really worth visiting.
M. P.
Not really much to see. To me it seems a waste of money.
£8.50 per person, but maybe other people will find it intresting.
P. P.
Great museum! Wonderful helpful staff full of interesting facts. Would highly recommend
J. K.
Interesting historical collection of the British print media cartoon series. Small museum collection for the ticket price...
C. C.
Nice museum with good exhibits, but quite limited for the cost - go when theres an exhibition on that you are interested in.
N.
I do not recommend it.
N. H.
An excellent museum, with a great range of cartoons through time and thematic idea. The size is perfect to whip round in 45mins, with the cartoons explaining themselves really.
C. J.
The idea was lovely and the décor cool but not what I expected. Very little to do for children and no large library of comics to explore.
Perhaps I misread the information, but it was stark and for adults more than anything.
M. G.
Very good. Takes longer than I would have thought. Could do with a tea/coffee station
C.
Well laid out, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Spotlessly clean. Interesting displays and exhibitions.
V.
Interesting museum, lots of great art pieces and friendly staff. Thought it was slightly small for the £8.50 price tag but still well put together
s. p.
The Cartoon is a very underrated Art Form..So much can be said in one Cartoon, that would take much narrative to get across the same point..The Artists are in the main highly skilled, but also in many cases great Narrators and Joke tellers. They can make sometimes poignant, sometimes political and of course sometimes just downright funny statements in just 1 or a few drawings. And of course we enjoy it even more if we get the point or joke made. This is a great place to see some of the very best..
E.
Had never been before but volunteered for Open House, enjoyed it so much I now volunteer here, its well worth a visit and only a short walk from Goodge Street Station
C. A.
Well worth a visit. Full of brilliant stuff, well presented.
L. B.
Great small museum, great collection of political cartoons. Interesting special exhibitions too.
s. a.
A fantastic find. Really funny and serious cartoons. Quite a small museum but well worth going to.
S. B.
It was an ok place to visit alot of comics from back in the days a few of them I've never heard off before but you might know a couple of them. I went when the v for vendetta thing was on but it wasn't worth the hype in my opinion the thing on line said one thing but wasn't correct I won't say what it was as in case your planning to visit it I don't want to ruin your day out. Things are safe there it's a one way system thing and they provide alcohol gel things to clean your hands and protect you from covid19 you have to wear a mask but it's government suggestion it was quit when I was there but maybe on weekend it might be more busy so plan ahead before you go if you book online the email is your proof of tickets I called and asked where my tickets were and they told me the email that was sent is the ticket. As I said alot of old comics from days alot of them I don't know but maybe you might know them. Hope you find this useful
A. K.
Interesting museum if you are in to cartoons and caricatures. It'll take about an hour of your time and it's reasonably quiet and has covid measures in place meaning that you probably don't need to book ahead.
F. T.
Interesting museum of you are into cartoons. Historical and current cartoonist featured mostly men. Only critique is as you enter into the exhibition one of the first cartoons you are greeted with is one of Boris Johnson with the words Piccaninnies coming out of his mouth. It was a bit of a shock for me as a Black Women, it didn't make me feel welcomed and I spent rest of time thinking about it.
Keep the cartoon in the exhibition yes, but not as one of the first cartoons that you are greeted with. Especially when you have a small exhibition of Natasha Natarajan work which will attract more people of colour to your museum.
The Boris one would have been better placed by the Tony Blair moving image, I feel.
D. P.
A great way the spend an hour or two
L. “. R.
Visited few years back my eldest son enjoyed it more than myself and my other two sons as he is in to drawing. Only two rooms so many drawings or comic strips to see. If your into this type then it's for you but don't go if your not
M. H.
Really enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.
J. S. C.
I love this quirky little museum and can get in free via my Art Fund pass. There are often special exhibitions at various times of the year.
J. B.
Cracking collection of British classics squeezed into a slightly under lit and cramped but well structured space.
S. G.
Found this place by accident. It was an interesting museum and did enjoy walking around! 😀
M. C.
An enjoyable hour's journey back through cartooning history.
A. B.
Great little museum with some fine pieces wish they had a little bit more exposition on them but very enjoyable.
C. F.
Great place to visit, some fantastic cartoons, laughed out loud!
d. A.
Such a cute place and so entertaining.. , maybe not as entertaining for younger people or people how have no interest in history of cartoon .. anyway , I believe it was lovely and warm❤️
C. R.
Very nicely done in great new digs including a comprehensive collection of historical and contemporary cartoons along with very thorough explanations of the background to each in most cases. The docents are enthusiastic and ready to assist and the shop is quite complete with many branded items and a very good selection of books on the topic. There are basically two sections, cartoons and comics (including graphic novel information) and the only complaint I have is that they should focus the ceiling lights on the pictures rather than the floor and wall below them - although it's all bright enough in the end. They also conveniently provide free lockers for small items whilst visiting.
K. D.
10/10 would recommend. The museum was very interesting and housed a variety of cartoons. It contains mainly British cartoons, many of which date back to more than 100 years ago, while others are more recent and only a few years old. They have both black and white and color cartoons, along with political and comedic ones.
The museum is a little small, but not crowded. It has areas for you to sit and view the work. It is very family friendly. Upstairs is a drawing room where you can practice your cartoon drawing. They also provide clipboards if you wish to walk around the exhibit and sketch the cartoons displayed. The cartoons are displayed in nice, clear glass on the walls and are very clear to read.
Entrance for kids is free, and I’m not exactly sure what the adult fee is. The gift shop at the front sells a variety of cartoon-related items, from sketch books to posters.
I spent about an hour in there, but I’d say if you glanced through it you could finish it in half an hour.
C. R.
Absolutely AMAZING museum. Incredibly underrated!! Very friendly staff too. The walls are plastered with cartoons from the beginning of time (!) until the present day. Loved it so much that I wouldn’t mind visiting again. Definitely a must see!!
K. P.
Deinfately worth stopping by. We spent an hour here. Its £8.50 for adults. Cheaper for students and concession individuals.
The cartoons on display are fun and really good. I was lucky to over hear a tour group so that helped. I played a game with my friend if we could guess what the picture was about without reading the caption!
d. c.
Well curated, well displayed, and with a sense of the ridiculous which is as it should be for a museum dedicated to cartoons and social commentary.
Expect to spend about 1-2 hours, depending on how detailed you want to get with reading the explanatory cards.
Bonus: clean bathrooms and a small gift shop.
N. H.
We visited the cartoon museum whilst on a trip to London. It had caught my eye as it wasn't too far from Madame Tussauds which we had also booked to visit. It is a very small gallery of mainly political/satire cartoons. Unfortunately there wasn't anything that our 2 sons enjoyed (age 10 & 11). I feel it's really for adults. Children are free to enter, students was around £3 and adults around £8. It was nice to break up our walk between venues and we were able to put our rucksacks in the free lockers to give our backs a break whilst browsing.
T. T.
It was a very pleasant evening. I saw some work that I knew some work I didn't and an exhibition that brought many memories. Knowledgeable curators & speakers. It's a scratch in such a massive art form. But well worth having a look. Very British in the humour & style and a great lover of the Beano.
L.
Alright, but I wouldn't recommend unless you are a comic fanatic, there are much nicer places in London to visit. Effort has obviously been put into the museum but unfortunately I would say it is outdated and not for younger people. However, fans of vintage comic books would enjoy, especially if you grew up reading them. Children and teens would probably find it boring, in comparison to other places.
p. b. C.
Small but beautifully designed with two wonderful exhibition spaces showing some stunning and varied artwork. Fascinating to see the steadily decreasing size of original artwork. Only one criticism. I had planned to buy one of the branded sketchpads as a keepsake but the paper is to flimsy and poor quality. Design is great however.
F. Y.
Interesting experience that would probably appeal more to older audiences. The museum provides a perspective of British history through the lens of a seemingly more fun, but no less serious, avenue, especially in contrast with the traditional idea of a museum. Admission was very affordable and would definitely recommend to those in the area with an hour or so to spare! :)
M. B.
Friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed looking around. Imagined it would be a little larger.
From photos also believed there would be interactive things for the children.
They children liked reading through the magazines and comics whilst taking a seat.
F. M.
Would attract more visitors if it was free entry.
S. E.
The top museum in London to visit for the study and exhibition of comics and cartoons. Actually, there is not a lot of competition, really. It's centrally located and has a useful bookshop. It also runs special shows alongside permanent exhibits of historic British cartooning, plus regular workshops for people with a practical and creative interest in the medium. If you're into cartoons and comics or you're an aspiring cartoonist, it's well worth checking out to see what's on.
E. W.
Nice little museum featuring a wide range of British cartoon artists. There is something for everyone. Star Trek, some DC and Marvel sketches plus Doctor Who and many other political or humorist drawings. The kids that were in the museum seemed to be just as entertained as I. It's a fun experience for all.
G. M.
The Cartoon Museum is a London museum for British cartoons, caricatures, comic strips and animation, owned and operated by the Cartoon Art Trust (Registered Charity 327 978). It has a library of over 5,000 books and 4,000 comics relating to the subject. The museum issues catalogues and features a changing display of over 250 exhibits from its collection of over 4,000 original cartoons and prints. The museum states that it is "dedicated to preserving the best of British cartoons, caricatures, comics and animation, and to establishing a museum with a gallery, archives and innovative exhibitions to make the creativity of cartoon art past and present, accessible to all for the purposes of education, research and enjoyment."
J. P.
This is a MUST visit if you are in London - close to Oxford Circus. They have an exhibition of cartoons - particularly political ones - from well known newspaper and magazine cartoonists. They presently have a side exhibition of my late father's collection of cartoons and illustrations done for him by cartoonists and illustrators who used to visit his shops for pen nibs. This side exhibition is called 'Dear Mr.Poole..' and is on until June 2020. Don't miss it.
C. C.
I ended up here to pass the time between lunch and and a show and did not regret it. I loved it here. All print based with the focus on British cartoonists/artists. Made me feel nostalgic and found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. Content ranging from political to celebrity to comics. I would say this is for an adult audience, although there is a room upstairs for children to design and draw their own cartoons/comics.
B.
I didn't have a personal relationship with the majority of the cartoons portrayed here. Still it was fun to see and I recommend it. From a cultural point of view I am glad that museums like this excists. It's important to treasure this in heritage.
S. P.
My 9-year-old son and I had to pull ourselves away after almost two hours. Well described and displayed exhibits on political cartooning, comic books and more. Very welcoming for children and the staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. A surprise highlight of our time in London and it seems like a real contribution to the arts in the city.
B. V.
I went to see an exhibition here in March, on political cartoons. It was really interesting! The staff were friendly and the shop had a lot to offer.
I hope to come again next time I'm in London 👍
J. L.
I visited today with my daughter. The museum is small, but has lots of cartoon strips on display. My daughter even recognised some of them. It doesn't take long to walk around, but it is bright and airy with lots to look at.
G. J.
Fabulous museum for those who read English and have a sense of humour. It doesn't feel finished, Q3 2019, but don't let that stop you. Some of the older cartoons, say C18 can be hard work, but great to see McLaughlin, Honeysett, Dickens, Lamb, Bestie etc and a range of kids' comics.
They do vary the selection periodically, but I'm not sure how often I would want to visit; there is likely to be some repetition.
Good shop, great amusing greetings cards, good "facilities".
W. E. T.
The small museum is easily overlooked, but once you've found it you'd shake your head and wonder how you could have missed it! Conveniently located close to the British Museum, it's worth stopping by before or after if you're looking for a full day out. It might be physically small but its walls are filled with history and facts, and before I knew it a happy two hours had passed. Would definitely recommend!
B. J.
A little overpriced for the content. But I realise they have to pay the rent in a very expensive area. It would be great if they had activities like learning to draw cartoons. A very wide range of cartoons on display here from a very wide range of artists and eras. A great idea just needs a wealthy patron to really make the most of it.
J. h.
Small but very good. Exhibits have been carefully curated and care has been taken to make it a wonderful and immersive experience for both enthusiasts and people with only a passing interest in cartoons.
There is a greater focus on political cartoons than comics or children's cartoons. By extension there is a lot of focus on French and British political cartoons but that does not detract from the experience at all.
J. S.
It was interesting but I would not add it to a must-see list. It offers an interesting perspective of British history as seen through political cartoons. It’s inexpensive so dropping through briefly if you are in the area could be a nice way to spend an hour.
J. T.
I'm not massively into cartoons but this was definitely a cool museum to visit. There are only a few people, seeing as the British Museum is just nearby and far more popular. However, there are cool interpretations of Alice in Wonderland and british history themes.
T. G.
A lovely walk down memory lane particularly as I preferred my brothers comics.
To anyone planning to visit, the gallery is a tribute to British comics. A young lad was running around looking very disappointed at the lack of Marvel representation :)
Worth the visit.
F. M. (.
It's definitely a good place, you can see political cartoons from way back in the 17th century, as well as some of the most relevant today, you can also see how some mirror the past and events just change in characters.
P. T.
Fun place to spend a Saturday afternoon...
H. S.
Once I found it I couldn't find enough time to absorb it all. It was great and set me looking at cartoonists I had never heard of. As a lover of cartoons and such I was thrilled. I hope everyone who shares my enthusiasm for cartooning and has the curiosity to wonder about its history and development, gets an opportunity to spend some time at The Cartoon Museum on Little Russell St. BTW - get a good map first because Little Russell is small and gets lost easily.
A. M.
I like this place, because I'm a big fan of the British comic art from the 18th century. The museum is interesting, but is not for everyone.
These days you can see exciting images of the First World War. To be honest this is not my favourite topic, but sometimes we don't have the choice to choose.
A. G.
Not that hard to find, the nearest tube station being Tottenham Court Road. I have to say though, this is quite SMALL for a museum!
Still, don't let that take away from a potentially inspiring visit! Warning: If you don't have the slightest interest in cartoons, or caricatures, then this is certainly not for you.
The place opens into the store with a TON of stuff to peruse! I personally could spend an entire morning in the shop alone!
The museum inside is another thing entirely. You'll see caricatures from a long time ago, a peek into what was possible for the public to see, without offending the powers that be too much!
There was a workshop for kids that was in another room and it was very inspiring to see these young minds seriously having a go at doing cartoons.
Lots of history, and I personally value cartoons so it was something I really liked. Highly recommended if you feel the same way about cartoons like I do.
S. H.
This is a great place for families, the bored, the nostalgic. Wonderful comics and cartoons ranging from modern day back to the 18th Century or so - the vast majority of which are brilliantly funny!
H. P.
Great place to take an arty teenager. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The kids' tour is worth doing even into the teens. Don't bother if you're not interested in cartoons.
R. S.
A small museum, but the collection is superb, you could spend hours looking and still only really take in a small portion properly
M. M.
This museum is little and really cool. Unique pics that will make you remember of your childhood. It also has a room for kids, where they can paint. You can see also cartoons on a DVD. I loved it !
A. R.
Despite being a fairly small museum the Steadman exhibition was fantastic and densely packed with works. There were few other people around and we were able to take our time to leisurely examine the many fine pieces on display.
j. A.
A fantastic asset to the city. I've seen a number of brilliant exhibitions here, and the space is just the right size too. Exceptionally friendly staff too. Check to see what's on, and pay them a visit.
r. y.
They have all the comics from old to nowadays and Politics to superheroes. Some old cartoons are funny to read. Place is small but worth to visit.
J. A.
Small museum dedicated to all manner of cartoons. They have special exhibitions. Recommended especially if you're visiting the British Museum (a block down from it).
L. P.
A simple small museum on a back street near the British Museum. Has the history of British cartoons but that means drawings and not TV animation as my daughter had thought. The shops is well-stocked and has plenty of bargains. Muppet stickers were on sale recently.
c. a.
Excellent, a real find. I especially enjoyed the V for Vendetta exhibition.
C. B.
Amazing Toons from present day back to the year 1647. Many memories here of my youth Beano characters Dandy Beryl the Peril Dan Dare Pilot of the future. Visit here is not to be missed
R. D.
This is a nice little museum with interesting exhibits and a fairly decent gift shop. It doesn't take long to get through. I'm looking forward to the museum's growth in the future.
H. G.
Lovely staff and some fascinating exhibits. It was very cramped and a bit run down, but they are currently moving to new premises in Wells St. Definitely worth a visit.
T. T.
Brilliant little museum that encompasses the great British tradition of cartooning and graphic narrative. The place covers everything from Cruickshank and Gilray all the way to Hookjaw, Dredd and Rorschach. Small but eminently thorough with a passionate and knowledgable staff and a well stocked gift shop.
K. W.
I have been a cartoon fan since I can remember, and for that reason I have visited this museum for several times and everything in it is quite interesting and fun. The only thing that I would change or I can just recommend is just to expand the view and to look ahead a bit and to make further connections with foreign artists.
M. M.
If you like to have a quick and funny study on the evolution of cartoon humour that is a place to visit. Unlike other places - quiet and not crowded.
L. S.
This is a fab little place. Despite its size the exhibition I went to felt huge, there were loads of original drawings and a lot of information about them too. It was well curated and I will definitely look out for future exhibitions and events.
F. S.
A pleasant way to spend an hour or so. The cartoon trail kept my 11 year old amused. He was also inspired enough to buy a notepad, in order to draw his own cartoon.
A. M.
Excellent museum! They had an amazing exhibit called "The Inking Women" that drew a spotlight on women cartoonists. The cartoons were funny, relatable, and relevant even today.
G. A.
A small museum devoted to cartoons, from the very earliest, incorporating newspaper strips, satire and comics (Beano, Dandy and Viz all get mentions). It is quite a small museum seeingly converted from a large period house, so space is limited. This meant that ther memories of my childhood like, Beezer, Topper, Whizzer & Chips and maybe some dialogue about their demise, were all absent. There is a space which neither I nor anyone else visiting at the time quite understood, and that was a recording of a woman ranting about womens rights. Maybe you could put some cartoons and comics in there. Great museum though with laughs along the way.
A. D.
Closed until Spring 2019 while they move to the new venue on Wells Street. Great small place. Lots of lovely illustrations to look at and a well stocked shop too.
U. D.
Loved it, Lived it.
Great to inspire kids...
D. C.
British cartoons! Hope you enjoy.
c. b.
It had some good cartoons that took me back to my childhood but it needed something for the children ( like a worksheet to find things in the comics, my children would of been happy with that). It was quite expensive too.
A. B.
Always a joy to visit. Varying exhibitions are always worth checking out. Excellent selection of original artwork. Wonderful staff. Also has a great selection of reference books to buy.
P. G.
A difficult to find gem in London. An independent museum displaying the best of cartoons, comics, and related artwork. Don't be put off by the exterior, it's bigger on the inside!
R. (.
Really interesting place but not really for kids. If you are expecting the Beano and Marvel look elsewhere. Very friendly staff though.
L. S. S.
Small but good museum. They have a drawing room and lots of paper and pencils for you to draw as you walk around. It also has a book store with some good stuff.
C. P.
Nice museum, quite small, very informative. The entrance fee is bit much. They have a workshops for children to make comics.
D. W.
Interesting museum with a wide and expsnding range of cartoons across the years. My favourite section was the area devoted to the classic newspaper cartoons which brought back memories of my youth.
D. C.
It is packed with wonderful originals by some very famous cartoonists. I spent over two hours here and it still wasn't enough. I loved it and I'll be back soon.
P. C.
Good for an hour or two. Tbh, the curator is more interesting/humorous than what's on display. Take time to read the cards.
L. H.
Great memories. I liked the decor.
P.
This is a small museum of comic strips and associated artwork. It is fairly interesting for adults but not for children as there is not much for them to do and many of the comic strips will be too high for them to read.
R. L.
Was hoping for more daily comics, but mostly political cartoons
T. A.
Can't believe this place was right under my nose and I didn't even know it existed until now! What a great little museum filled with quirky cartoons, really interesting visit.
W. F.
I found the cartoons in the downstairs section (from Punch and major papers) excellent for brushing up my knowledge of British political history, and the section upstairs for children I'm sure would be very popular.
R. H.
Small but interesting display of UK comic art. Near many other attractions it is well worth stopping off for a visit
M. B.
Fantastic museam with exhibits from all aspects of cartoons and cartooning across the years. A must do if you are in town.
J. T.
The museum is now closed, and has moved to a new location. Details attached.
O. T.
The museum issues catalogues and features a changing display of over 250 exhibits from its collection of over 4,000 original cartoons and prints.
A. C.
Not very big and not very impressive but if you are into cartoons and comics you will get a buzz from something here for sure. Shop isn't as over priced as these sort of shops usually are
V. C.
Interesting place for one to learn the history of British comics.
H. L.
Nice artwork, a good experience for people that are into this kind of exhibit. Overall, very good organised.
A. H.

A lot more political than I expected but very informative. £5-8 to enter if I'm remembering correctly.
S. W.
It's a bit small and cramped but will be fantastic when it's new home opens as the stuff they can display is fascinating.
M. E.
Great place to visit.
S. V.
If you appreciate political cartoons then this is the place for you. Very well presented museum and cheap price
H. P.
Smallish museum housing an outstanding display of (printed) cartoons and caricatures. Particularly good collection of political cartoons over several centuries.
A. H.
Lovely small museum with exhibitions, art classes for kids and a great shop for all your cartoon and comic needs
J. B.
Enough content - for British cartoon lovers only. One floor is just reference stuff. Reasonably priced if you are a student.
j. o.
this place is unexpected. it looks small at the entrance but its Punch collection was very extensive. they also have paper for you to doodle at the top floor
M. A.
Wonderful history and artwork. Lovely little building and a great book store. Well worth the visit.
J. B.
Preserving the sort of cultural heritage we need to preserve. Take the kids, take your grandparents. Boris Johnson probably doesn't even know it exists.

Good place to see classic illustrative works within British culture. Also great to see illustrations that don't necessarily pertain to British culture

(Translated) An amazing museum, I went to find inspiration for my paintings and I honestly think it's the right place for artists. They also have a little workshop where you can paint comic faces it's fun even for adults. I have laughed a lot with the mischievous jokes, ironies and double meanings. Highly recommended.

A cute place and not much beyond. There is no very logical order for the representatives and it is not so clear what in the world of comics you are looking at .. For example - there are some works taken from the same comic, but they are on different floors and it is not clear to the end why.
The explanations next to the works explain quite clearly the background to the work, which is important and good, but I lack an explanation of styles, technique or chronological sequence of time. They also represented that I was not clear about their connection as they were not comics (medals, medieval style paintings, etc.).
The visit was nice and burned some time that was to burn. I do not regret entering, but I also paid 3 euros entrance .. If you do not have a student ID and you are not really in the world of comics you will not necessarily find a lot of interest in the museum.
There was also an activity room for children that was not active that day, if you have a child worth checking out in advance about it.
