Reviews of The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & UnNatural History
I. F.
Absolutely loved all the weird stuff down in the museum! Feel like £10 might be a bit overpriced for the size of it, so I'm happy they have a option for people with lower income.
Super cool place!
B. B.
This awesome museum of uniqueness also include a bar upstairs - a must visit just for the friendly staff but below the bar is one of the best museums in the uk, filled with strange and unique things. A trip to London is not complete without a visit to this museum
S.
Such an exciting and strange collection/museum of oddities. It holds one of the best taxidermy displays I’ve ever seen, and some seriously creepy sculptures and occult artefacts. The atmosphere is fun and light hearted and the staff were so friendly and encouraged us to take our time and enjoy everything at our own pace. I can’t wait to come back and visit again.
S. N.
The most unusual museum ever. Small space but tonnes of whacky items. Be prepared for taxidermy and animals in formaldehyde. Loved it
b. t.
Really interesting place with some fantastic exhibits. The space is pretty tight so recommend going on a quiet day if you can (maybe not a weekend / holiday) so you can fully indulge in investigating everything!
K. J.
It was such an odd but awesome experience. There were so many weird, creepy things in that museum. Lots of dark stuff. I was especially interested in the grimoir they have in there. They also have an awesome bar, where I had one of the best cosmopolitans of my life. I would definitely recommend giving this place a visit. Such a vibe!
N. N.
Interesting place if you are into weird, great absinthe bar and welcoming staff
A.
Good value at £6.00. Very intriguing and interesting museum of, as the board says, curiosities plus some rather rude stuff too 🙊🙉🙈. Spent 40 mins looking round the museum in the cellar then had a drink in the bar upstairs. Friendly staff.
J. B.
Warm (as in not dead and stuffed) welcoming and friendly front of house and bar staff get 5 gold stars, as does the museum. Some might think the museum is smaller than expected, though on closer inspection one will find a huge number of exhibits in a small space. If anyone should think the experience too brief, they have either not paid enough attention at eye level, or missed the second section of the exhibition that needs to be enjoyed on all fours.
T. B.
The museum is inside of a bar. The things (Exhibited items) are interesting and some of them really surreal. You don't now if it's what it supposed to be or just a fake - it's all about what you believe in. The Viktor Wynd's wunderkabinett is worth seeing. The entry fee was 6 pounds. Just go there if you are in London.
J. M. G.
Friendly staff, a lot of weird objects to see, a thing to improve for them is the description of the items. It's so small that you've to be veeeery near to been able to read it.
When you go to the museum they will ask you if you want a drink, the price of the beer was in my opinion a bit excesive, exactaly 5£ for a can of beer. So you should be better going for a coctail
K. M.
Fun little museum and bar if you like weird stuff, like me. For £6 venture downstairs for a mixture of Curiousities, freak show and strangeness. I found it interesting and fun. Upstairs there is a great cocktail bar where you can chase the green fairy (absinth) check website for events.
M. S.
incredibly interesting museum on the item viktor wynd has collected over the years. some things scary, some slightly odd but everything completely weird. from a jar of urine to a taxidermy goat in a suit, you can spend ages looking through everything before leaving. there is also a cocktail bar on the ground floor as an added bonus. staff are all very friendly. will definitely be returning
K. T.
Very curious indeed. An eerie and sometimes a bit x-rated collection of oddities and pictures. I can't really describe it more than that but well worth going! And a great bar above it, especially the absinthe menu!
C. G.
We didn't know what to expect but it was definitely worth the visit, coming to this bar/museum. It's £5 to see the museum but it's definitely worth it, plus you can take drinks downstairs.
There are a lot of quirky, strange and downright ridiculous items in the museum, lots to see, some interactive exhibits as well! If you have time and like seeing an eclectic mix of the strange and impressive, definitely head over.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the drinks are good too.
S. T.
Quirky, bizarre and wonderful...
Y. L.
Lovely!
Really love those bisque dolls.
I brought my own teddy rabbit here (she got alone well with all those fabulous curiosities ❤️
L. A.
Super duper cocktail bar and very extraordinary. Definitely a place to visit when coming to London. The only thing is that they don't do any food so drinking absinthe you're out after 1 drink so make sure that you eat beforehand.
F. A. O.
The surrealism is real, I didn't expect this museum below a cocktail bar.
It is an amazing museum with lot of curiosities, however there's a considerable amount of dust down there.
We paid 3£ each
The insects collection is completely amazing. Just wow. Incredible.
A. H.
An intriguing place filled with the weird and wonderful. I had the museum all to myself when I visited (my boyfriend opted out as the imagery was a bit too much for him). Sadly didn't have a chance to taste anything afterwards in the cafe, but they definitely have a very large collection of drinks. Staff was very friendly as well. Bought a beautiful crow skull as a souvenir.
R. K.
A (spectacular) museum without the rules of a (regular) museum. A direct insight, in the absolute most literal meaning, to Viktor Wynd's fascination and exploration of the humane, mundane, extraordinary, and beautiful.
Browsing through the vast world of things, some labeled with text and others with only your eye and imagination as story line, you explore various skeletons and leftovers from this world along with adorable new worlds created from dead animals in beautiful bespoke clothes and handcrafted surroundings.
Definitely worth a visit - of not only for the tasty cocktails you have before and after the visit.
Enjoy.
M. W.
This place is so sick. Went on a first date. The staff are so accommodating. The drinks are lush. So many talking points with the museum. Will be back baby.
M. B.
Never have I visited or seen a place quite like this. If you enjoy off the beaten path types of places that will stop you in your tracks, this is a must see!
Didn't catch her name but the bartender was excellent also.
c. h.
If you visit London and want something different from the V&A or Camden town norm then this is where you want to go. I had found this on google and definatly wanted to see what it was about. There are no other words other than weird, mystifying and bizarre. There are things there you'd expect and things there you never want to see again :D
Afterwards we had a cocktail in the bar upstairs which was nice then tootled off back to reality.
A. b.
Had an interesting and enjoyable evening, nice cocktails, insects on the menu. Ordered the scorpion. Some amazing, weird and wonderful exhibits in the museum downstairs. A lot to see in a small space. Staff very nice and helped us ordering from the unusual menu.
S. R.
Been to this place recently, and it did kind of shock me to be honest! I didn’t expect to find a place like this in Hackney! It is quite an unusual place as it has a few weird things in it! They have animal mummies and skeletons! I went there in a Tuesday evening when they have a guy come over with many creatures. You can touch and hold them. Some of the creatures are pythons (snakes), scorpions, millipedes, a tarantula (big hairy spider), chameleon and even a bearded dragon! Good for kids to get to learn about animals too. Upstairs is a cocktail bar, so you can calm your nerves if you need to, before holding the tarantula!
A. M.
Great vibes, the bar is an awesome experience in itself and the absolutely bizarre museum downstairs just tops it off as well as great, friendly service from the team there
J. W.
Very unique, never seen anything like it! Definitely give it a go!
F. O.
Clever business idea with a quirky cocktail bar perfect for dates, very low light adds to the mystery. If you have a drink, entry to the museum costs only £6: the collection is better than expected, particularly if you read the notes below each item, nothing really scary, just a bit gross. Make a reservation as the place is quite popular and seats are limited.
P. G.
Great drinks (including a wide variety of absinthes). I had the "Coconut Freak" because I am lightweight and was worried about some of the more intense sounding drinks. It was delicious, especially after the ice melted a bit to counter the sweetness, and it came in a tiki mug as an added bonus. I couldn't taste the alcohol in that one at all, do get that if you are a "booze chicken" like myself. They also have a limited selection of spooky finger foods, including something called "chocolate anus," which I did not try, but I'm sure has its appeal. This place has great decor and ambiance with tons of taxidermy, dark colors, interesting books, and sexual/witchy imagery.
...and that's just the bar on the first floor. When you descend to the lower museum level (for an entrance fee of £6), sanity and decorum are rocket launched out the window as you are treated to views of tastefully framed Victorian porn, vintage pulp sex novels, a golden elephant skull, a taxidermied lion wearing a fez, a selection of celebrity poos, a variety of human and animal skulls, a mumified penis, and much, much, more. It is truly a morbid cabinet of curiosities, but also quite fun if dark and morbid is your chosen aesthetic.
This is a very small location. The bar fills up fast, so make reservations to ensure you get a seat. Note that there are no reservations for the museum downstairs despite it's limited space, it's first come first serve. Most nights the museum appears to be open till 10, with the bar open till 11, but call and check to be sure.
This place is definitely not wheelchair friendly, but the staff was lovely and they were as accommodating as possible. My friend with limited mobility was able to step up into the bar and then wheel their chair to one of the tables for drinks and ambiance, but they were not able to visit the museum downstairs because the only way down to it was a really small spiral staircase. Instead my other friends and I took pictures and shared them when we got back to the table.
All in all, this place is definitely worth a visit. Check out the spookiness if you're ever in London.
D. C.
Amazing collection. Some of the items are really weird, some of them are disgusting, some of them are exciteing and some of them are misterious. It can take up to 3-4 hours if you dont rush it despite it is not a big area.
K. S.
Very strange in a pleasant way. It is a small museum with too much to look at. I would recommend this to anyone who likes stuff.
C. S.
Always find something new that I've overlooked. This was my third visit. Suoer-charming hostess was a true delight. Entire place can be seen in about an hour, and is full of surprises and quirky fun.
J. C.
The weird freaky stuff is all in the cellar and not what I expected although seriously weird enough for me to enjoy. Lovely staff and so cheap to get in. Also they do cocktails in the bar above and they specialise in absinthe. So all good!! It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
R. B.
Highly recommend this place. The museum is something out of a fantasy novel, has to be seen to be believed. The bar upstairs does very nice cocktails (I recommend the 'shrunken head', which is served in a tiki glass), and the staff are great.
S. G.
This a museum. This is a cocktail bar. This is a combination museum and cocktail bar.
Macabre, dark, creepy, & weird yet beautiful, interesting, playful & humorous.
You will have a great time here, if you do not, you should have another drink at the cocktail bar.
They also serve strong coffee too!
Cheers!
A. H.
Hands down the wierdest museum I've been to in London! Many curiosities, including shrunken heads and bones. If your peckish, they also have insects on the menu!
S. H.
Fantastic and bizarre place to visit. Spooky @nd scary. Some amazing exhibits. Would reccomend a visit, hopefully sparked your curiosity.
N. A.
My fiancé took me on a date here and it blew me away! I loved that we had the place to ourselves. The spirally staircase with little gems of curiosities gets you prepared to see a cellar full of interesting artifacts. I liked reading some of the stories that each item came along with. My favorite pieces were the dioramas of tiny taxidermied characters. We had drinks at the cocktail bar afterwards which were quite delicious. The staff were sweet and wonderful. Perfect for a date in East London that’s off the beaten path. I will have this as a favorite date night memory!
F. G.
Hidden gem. And when I say hidden, I mean it: it's located on basement of the cocktail bar. Expect to see things that you will not understand at all, and description is not available or vague, hence 4 stars.
N. “.
I really enjoyed my visit to this strange and curious little museum. A bizarre and eclectic collection of oddities, ranging from the humorous to the darn right weird.
Would recommend.
f. k.
The museum is cool but contains very strange and weird items. I would recommend if you want to see something different.
M. S.
Very quirky and interesting place. We had a tour where we learned lots about the exhibits, I’d highly recommend it. It’s also a cocktail bar so would be worth a visit in an evening for somewhere different.
A. T.
Wonderful place, full of interesting and sometimes very funny items.
Strongly recommend to everyone seeking good place to see.
M.
Different and surprising collection of things. All kinds of things and it is like going through someone else’s basement (more than one room). It’s a peak at Victor’s mind and inclinations. You don’t know what you’re gonna find. Some say it’s pornographic, ok, maybe not recommended for a child but in today’s world a novel called four-way triangle is not going to shock anybody anymore. Besides that the taxidermy and skeletons of all kind of species presented artfully are intriguing.
It’s a break-out from other museums.
There is a bar upstairs serving different cocktails with a very friendly staff, that make the difference.
Z. F.
Exactly what I was hoping for, wonderful and weird! Also absolutely delicious cocktails! 🎉
V. L.
The staff were great and so knowledgeable about the absinthe they offered. Very friendly and good at giving advice and tips on how to have your absinthe.
There were so many to choose from and if you were undecided, the staff were able to recommend something for you based on your drinking preferences.
They also had a few unique cocktails which we really enjoyed as well, with pretty much all of them having a absinthe/ herbaceous theme to them. There is a little food menu which we didn't see until we were going to leave, but we'd definitely come back for another visit soon!
The museum itself was definitely filled with some amazing little curiosities! So much to see and lots of very random things that you wouldn't find elsewhere (as well as a few things you could find in the Natural History Museum). Even if you dont like absinthe, the museum is worth a visit in it's own right!
G. L.
An incredibly eclectic collection of odd things, and one of the highlights of my trip. Grab a cocktail or three beforehand and you'll have a blast.
E. V.
Weird, wild and possessing an otherworldly vibe, this bar offers a fascinating collection of mad tat. You can have some expensive yet beautifully-presented absinthe upstairs when you're ready to forget the unsettling hodgepodge of skeletons and haunted taxidermy you saw downstairs.
J. W.
If you want to do something a little different with your weekend then this is the place to go. It's a total hidden (and rather macabre) gem with amazing cocktails above ground and strange curiosities underground. 🍸💀
R. L.
The most messed up place i've ever been with an amazingly sweet and helpful crew. Lovely drink menu, lovely thoughts. Best toilet ever!!!you better check :D
p. f.
Not for the faint hearted. We really enjoyed this unique museum
K. I.
A great gem with fantastic bar as well as the curiosities. Definitely worth having a look and a giggle!
F.
Amazing, quirky, unusual and wonderful museum, definitely for those with unusual and morbid interests. The staff are lovely and the cocktails are perfect if you love absinthe.
N. W.
A collection of some seriously weird and crazy things! The perfect place to spend an hour or two. The cocktails are not to be missed either. Can’t wait to visit again! Very friendly staff too :)
T. O.
Cool and quirky, cocktails with absinthe was great. But pricey for the museum underneath for what it was. £6 each and the room was tiny, worth visiting if passing by
M. E.
This place is bonkers and I love it. Top tip: absinth is very strong!
C. C.
Wow what a place. If you are in the area you have to book here. I went a couple of weeks ago and we had the yummiest cocktails and then went downstairs to the strangest museum I have ever been to. Very interesting and I wish we had enough time to read everything down there. £6 to visit the museum.
P. P.
Excellent, weird, interesting and more. With added attraction of a cocktail bar.
T. H.
Delicious cocktails and friendly staff, and a cosy atmosphere with lots of cool stuff to look at. The museum downstairs is fantastically weird and creepy.
s.
A weird collection of death, sex and insanity. You'd have to be out of your mind to like this place. It's great and I loved it.
p. s.
Really cool place, a must see if you love all things weird.
A. H.
Fairly expensive for the size, but I was not disappointed in the slightest. We had a cocktail and a reasonable beer in the bar on street level (the museum is in the dark basement down a spiral stairway)
c. k.
Hands down the best spot in London. If I lived in the city, I'd be here all the time. Dig it to the max.
K. H.
Strangest place I've ever stepped foot in but everyone was super welcoming and the bar is decently priced too
L. H.
What a nice experience ! Excentric museum, Nice staff and very good cocktails !
l. c.
Really cool and cheap for students :) Not for the faint of heart tho
A. C.
Interesting collection of curiosities and random things collected by Viktor over his life. For 6 quid it's worth a visit and you can grab a beer or cocktail too.
R. M.
Weird and strange as it should be. Lovely staff at the bar extremely kind.
S. Z.
Quirky little place for anyone interested in the strange and macabre. Have a drink at the bar upstairs before or after, cocktails are great!
L. S.
Must see if you're into whimsical and creepy things, cocktails are great too.
S. S.
Crazy out there museum!! Total must for anyone that's curious about curiosities! The cocktail bar upstairs make damn fine drinks too! The staff are great so don't be afraid, an experience not to be missed.
R. B.
Expensive entry but very cool. The museum will leave you asking a lot of questions. Definitely worth a visit.
C. R. (.
A truly amazing place, as marvelous as it is disturbing. I have never seen something like it.
E. F.
Very cool place. And very weird. It's a cocktail bar upstairs and museum of curiosities downstairs. £6 entry but they do concessions and we also got a half price voucher to return. Expect to see lots of weird and wonderful things - it's perhaps not for the easily offended but we loved it. The cocktail I had was amazing, the staff are friendly and we even got to meet Viktor himself. Will definitely be back.
n. p.
I have been meaning to visit The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & Natural UnHistory.
However I was in the area and stumbled into it.
The staff inside were really friendly and nice.
Drinks are a must.
C. B.
Fun place to visit. Lots of creepy stuff in museum and can have plate of bugs flushed down with absinthe before.
T. N.
Excellent staff and a really different place to visit. Come with an open mind, have a couple drinks and enjoy yourself.
T. W.
I absolutely loved it. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. We decided to have a couple of cocktails before venturing downstairs to the museum. I highly rate the cocktails. I only had one but it gave me a good kick up the arse and tasted amazing. Next, we were informed that the hedgehogs were visiting the museum. Music to my ears! Who doesn't love a hedgehog. As it turned out they weren't just any hedgehogs, they were African Pygmy Hedgehogs!! Even cuter than their larger relatives. The owners were very nice and let us hold and stroke the hoggies. Then we spent about 45 minutes looking through all the weird and wonderful artifacts that were displayed in the museum. I would tell you my favourite but I don't want to ruin the surprise for you all. If you like weird stuff and have an open mind you HAVE to visit this wonderfully quirky place.
S. N.
I love it here. Really cool bar with lots of very interesting things to look at. Every time I go there's stuff I've missed. They know how to make a really good cocktail too, very impressed. The museum downstairs was interesting, although very weird and heavy phallic focus, cheap entry though and worth a look.
B. R.
I loved it. Excellent museum. Funny stuff
J. K.
A really quirky and unusual place with some cool features and small rarities. I think a lot of work has gone into this providing more than just a basic museum. The small entry fee is nothing for what you get to experience and see. I just hate that it's small and not bigger. There is so much more I think the creators want to include but cannot. I think it fits the location well and suits anyone looking to take some unusual for a drink or casual tour of a different side to London
J. T.
A very unique collection of objects and curios. Small but with the exploration.
N. B.
If you’re into curiosity/occult stuff this place is a must-see. The museum is a perfect mix of creepy/fascinating and the traditional presentation of absinth was an experience. Staff was also pleasant and knowledgeable. Drinks are expensive but it’s reasonable for the experience you get
E. R.
Went here on the recommendation of a friend and it was definitely worth it.
This place is unique, a mixture of the macabre, phantasmagorical and truly jaw-dropping exhibits, crowded into glass cabinets and scattered around this small space. There is no attempt at classification and we are challenged to make what we can of this huge collection of disparate items. We laughed, were sometimes shocked and often puzzled. This is not for the faint-hearted but approached with an open mind it is an amazing experience.
C. H.
Quirky, yes but over hyped. The museum is a tiny basement and full of old taxidermy, skulls and 1970s porn and some poo in jars.. Nothing particularly interesting. It's like looking through a dead strangers pile of junk. The bar has interesting cocktails and I would rate that over the museum. Bit somewhere is go again . Nice enough staff, there to run the museum smoothly.
V. P.
Go down the spiral staircase to a small world of Wonder & Mystery! This is a wonderfully small museum packed to the rafters with weird & strange items from across the world. Highly recommend going to this.
The one small down point is the price of the drinks. For our budget it was just too much to enjoy a cocktail upstairs surrounded by more awesome display pieces. But that shouldn't put you off. The museum has a very reasonable entry price and I'm guessing most people could afford the drinks. Go! See! Feed your curiosity!
z.
Had a great time in here. Some really interesting, strange and questionable things to look at.
L. W.
Had the potential to be great. There's loads of odd and weird things to look at and it's definitely worth a visit. The only complaint I had was that nothing was really labelled or explained so you don't know what you're looking at, which takes a lot of the interest out of it. We only went to the museum downstairs, but the bar upstairs looks quite interesting- I'd come back for that.
L. S.
So much weird and wonderful stuff to examine!
I. M.
Very interesting place and extremely fun to go with friends
M. C.
Friendly waitress, helped us to choose nice drinks. The museum was an unusual experience for a date! Definitely smth cool to do, but takes only around 15min. Drinks a bit too expensive, but really good.
A. H.
Filled with so many oddities, you just never know where to look.... oh, don't forget the ceilings
S.
Interesting exhibition (£5 entry with book) full of strange things, was not disappointed. Perfect for a quirky date or a outing with friends. Sit with a lion in a top hat and enjoy really nice cocktails and an insect platter for those who want to try something new! Lovely atmosphere with dim lighting that matches the museum theme and staff is very friendly!
M. D.
Incredible spot if you want a really weird day or evening out! Go in for an amazing cocktail and check out the underground museum. it is a little small but you can easily spend hours looking at all the weird things. Definitley worth buying the guide book as there arn't many explanations or descriptions for the exhibitions.
H. Y.
A wonderful little mueseum of all sorts! Taxidermy, tiny nik naks of all sorts from a personal collection, all amazing, quirky and weird!
M. K.
Great and black-humorous place to go on Thursdays (happy hour tickets). Nice location for a drink as well.
T. B.
Love this place. This bar is unlike anything i've ever seen. The cocktails are amazing with a spirit focused vibe. Pay a fee to visit the museum downstairs and you're in for a treat. A huge collection of macabre and unusual artefacts collected by an artist named Viktor Wynd. Highlights include: the three eyed goat, the mermaid corpse and shrunken heads
L. f.
An exceptional experience that is an added bonus to a good cocktail adventure
S. C.
Really quirky place, worth a visit. There is a small museum with a very odd collection of objects, with a fairly cheap entrance fee (5£). There's even some days of the month you can find live reptiles here which you can pet and play with. Their owner was also very friendly! On the ground floor there is a bar as well, so going to the museum and then for a drink is a perfect combo!
L. D. S.
The museum itself truly feels like a modern day cabinet of curiosities, including Victorian-eraparaphernalia as well as more modern day oddities that are definitely worth the detour. I recommend trying out one of the many absinths the bar has to offer before and after. My friends and I headed at a Jack the Ripper tour after and it was the perfect prelude for it. Staff is fantastic too
J. A.
For the £6 entrance fee, this strange place is a great way to spend an hour. Lots of interesting, novel curios. Would go again, great place for a first date if you think your date's a bit of a weirdo.
S. C.
It was the first place we visited in London after arriving from the USA. Totally worth it! The staff was great and totally understanding about us missing our reservations because we got lost trying to find them. One of the best parts of my London experience.
B. M.
Magical little place - sit next to the lioness and sip on yummy cocktail or explore the depths of the basement museum and it's mad array of weird and wonderful items. If you are brave enough, there's a petting zoo every few months. We loved it!
K. M.
Been a regular for years. Would be great if they sold an annual pass for the museum as I like to take visitors there & £6 a pop adds up. Excellent cocktails, lovely staff.
E. R.
If you like it weird, this is your place. This cocktail place/museum is a collection of oddities and weirdness. The place is delightful gothic and dark. Upstairs they serve nice cocktail themed around the place and the place is small but cosy. If you want to visit the “museum” you will have to go down in the “dungeons”, and you will discover a selection of super odd things, such as taxidermy, Victorian taxidermy famous fake (like fairies and sirens), occult stuff, a grimorium, various dead things, famous people’s poop and things you couldn’t even imagine in your wildest dreams. Plus, there is a small room with a human skeleton encased in the table and a tiger skeleton on the side, in which you can eat or drink in case you want to book it for a “party” (or a satanic rite, maybe). I cannot say the place is beautiful, or that you have to visit it (it depends on your taste) but for sure it’s an interesting and quirky place like no other. It make me thing at a witch hut. They do some weird but really interesting workshop as well.
D. P.
The Museum is now back open and a bar, it is one of those great London quirky places to go to, Viktor is always illusive but the bar is probably a tad expensive, the food is very tasty too.
They have started doing events here and having been to one, I'd recommend it as its very cool and your guests will always remember it.
The museum downstairs is very odd but you will have to go see it!
R. C.
Fun and unusual place. Didnt get to try the cocktail bar but the museum below is amusing and well worth checking out.
Attended the storytelling, which was excellent and good fun.
Very keen to return to more events here.
M. L.
Disgusting, grotesque and horrid, I absolutely loved it! The staff is the kindest people ever, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is unique.
The collection is breathtaking, not for the faint of heart!
R. B.
If you like weird stuff this place is for you.
Cocktail bar upstairs with weird decor and a really weird museum downstairs. Worth £6 to go downstairs £9 a cocktail but they are nice cocktails. Staff great.
Y. N.
Highly recommended dark tourism enthusiasts are welcome here! tickets cost 6 pound each and even though the museum is small, there is a LOT of detail worth spending an hour!
M. A. S.
An interesting curiosity museum. The admission fee is 5 pounds with a cup of tea. The underground station is Bethnal green and then you need to walk 5 minutes to get to the museum on the main road. A little disappointed as Viktor Wynd was at the museum but he did not talk to people coming to visit his nice and strange place. He was at the bar and did not even say goodbye to us. Also it's hard to get an answer by email to make sure the museum is not only open for a special event. Anyway we had a great time.
C. M.
Very special place. Beautiful in its own way. Love it will come back
A. S.
Very very weird and properly disturbing. This collection of quirky made-up objects and naughty adult paraphernalia is worth a visit if you want to be shocked for a bit. The bar upstairs is comfy enough - you get to drink/dine with stuffed animals (including a Zebra with a unicorn horn). The assemblage of shockers downstairs (viewing fees of £4) is quite something else - don't say that you weren't warned.
C. S.
This is the strangest place. Definitely worth going to if you want to avoid the tourist attractions in London. Sadly we didn't stay for a drink but I definitely needed one after going downstairs!
A. B.
The weirdest and probably the most unusual and interesting museum in London, they make very unique drinks ( I had a drink with a scorpion) , staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent way of spending Sunday afternoon
K. G.
Crazy, morbid, bizarre - words cannot describe Victor Wynd's little shop of curiosities. The bar upstairs gives you a palatable introduction but step downstairs to view naughty Victorian 'toys', strange artifacts from celebrities and skeletons of animals I believe have never existed. Very amusing - it's well worth a visit and I'd love to book the spooky dinner table for a party one day!
H. S.
Incredibly curious and interesting, friendly staff and great drinks. Wildly impressed
A. G.
Brilliant in every way. Enjoyed a most wonderful Sunday here. The staff were great - welcoming, polite and knew their stuff. The museum was suitably weird and wonderful. Will definitely be back soon.
R. C.
Wonderfully curious. Small, but densely packed with oddities.
I. C.
A real hidden gem. And some really interesting rude exhibits. The Absinthe is a must - just be prepared for the hangover from hell if you have more than 2 though!
x. B.
A fantastic extraordinary place, the staff were the best and wanted us to have a fantastic time which we did. Ideal if you wanted to go on the world's most unusual date ( only if you go into the museum which is a must )
F. P.
One of the best place I have done in London, you can buy drinks upstairs and take it along with you in the museum. You just need to be open minded as the museum really has some curiosities ;)
J. G.
A delightful little oddity out in Hackney very much recommended if you are looking to surprise/impress somebody. You can book one of the Wednesday night tours (book in advance as they sell out) or they have lots of other eccentric events on their website diary. You can just pop in for a drink and a look around as well.
L. K.
I love the place itself for the atmosphere. The cellar space is awesome, but the bar upstairs is dreadful.
d. j.
This place is so out of the ordinary but so fascinating. The cocktail menu is just exciting beyond belief and the staff are as passionate about everything they do it really comes across. If i could give more than 5 stars i would
n. h.
a strange place to visit.
It's à bit far from the metro Station.
You can visit the museum for few pounds and you can enjoy a cup of tea included in the price.
The museum is small but really weird. A place to visit for unconventional tourists !
M. L.
Cannot express how weird this place is. From Kylie Minogue's poo to the mummified erection of a hanged man, this place has everything. Warning: if dead stuff freaks you out, do not go here.
I've dropped the last star because of the guidebook that comes with museum entry: while it's arranged well to look back on your visit, I think it would be better if it were arranged in order of the specimens in the museum as we couldn't find the descriptions for some of the exhibits.
I. M.
an interesting place to spend some time. Small but walk slowly and peer in all the dark corners to see the many strange and wonderful things packed into this crowded premises. I found the prices at the bar reasonable too.
A. M.
Pretty weird to be honest. This isn't as much a museum as an odd collection of "things". The displays are a mixture of things from the erotic to the necrotic. Certainly not going to be a place everyone enjoys, though for some it might be an interesting experience.
A. R.
A curious and eclectic pot pourri of the odd, peculiar and the mysterious. Limited opening hours
S. H.
Went here to view the Julie Goldsmith exhibition and enjoyed her show as a vegan I found the stuffedcanimals disturbing but drinks were tasty staff were friendly and I like the owners vibe and the art works were interesting good night out .
M. A.
Quirky museum not suitable for easily offended.
R. D.
A fun, gothic place serving cocktails in a setting with strange slightly macabre objects. There is a large basement area with a museum of curiosities with a small entrance charge for the interested.
J. W.
Tuesday night - Maynard's zoo - one of the best nights of my life. The handler was amazing - fun, educational and with all the animals you could wish for. Only £6. Honestly unbeatable.
T. B.
If you want to to the strangest minds that came to be and their creations in one place, this is where you should go. We spend an amazing afternoon here with my family. Can not recommend enough.
M. T. (.
Finally managed to get inside after causally admiring it from far. Great wine selection and the museum is a must place to see at the right price!
P. J.
Mind blowing collection of bizarre stuff and very well presented.. we spent 2 hrs there in state of amazement and awe
Add to bucket list instantly.... the serve Absynth in the correct way with a waterdrip... unbelievable memorable and artistically wonderful....
j. s.
Viktor Wynd was one of our nation's greatest eccentrics who left his fascinating collection to be viewed by the nation. It is a remarkable collection and well worth seeing.
(Just go! You won't be disappointed! It is fantastic!)
C. W.
I love this place. Also, the he cocktails were good.
K. S.
Amazing place for people with weird minds! Highly recommend for good cocktails, and well worth going downstairs to look at the bonkers stuff Viktor has collected!
C. C.
Quirky, interesting, but over in just a few minutes. A bit pricey for what it was, in my opinion, but it doesn't break the bank at £6. And the drinks here were fantastic!
D.
I expected more from this place, it's quite small and there are lots of things t but in my opinion there are poorly organised. It's quite a mess to be honest.
If you aren't staying much time, I suggest skipping this place and going to somewhere more iconic.
S. E.
Great experience including great service, definitely worth the effort to get there
R. L.
An absolute blast for people with the slightest bit of curiosity.
G. W.
Visit #1: All present and correct on the atmosphere, conviviality and service fronts. One niggle: puffer fish are way too beautiful alive to waste time killing them for the sake of a £5 knick-knack. Visit #2: splendid 😚
S. C.
The team there made my evening . So attentive and engaging they really made our experiance there fun
C. P.
If you are fond of unusual artifacts, dead babies, freaks, stuffed animals, monsters and others oddities, don't be afraid to enter Viktor's place, you won't regret it... Have a look at his book shop, you'll find some fancy books too
L. M.
Don’t forget to eat your insects!
A. C.
Strange for sure, but stays on theme throughout. The staff, atmosphere, curiosities and drinks are all a bit like visiting the Addams Family.
K. W.
One of the most refreshing establishments i have visited in a long time. The staff are exceptional the environment stunning and the museum is....... you must see it for yourself!
e. b.
I won't post lots of photos and spoil the many surprises - delights waiting for you venturing into possibly the world's most eccentric collection. I'm not even going to explain what this is a photo of, so think of me briefly when you see it among it all!
R. W.
Though small, this place is packed with curiosities. Some are natural things in a different state that you just don't get the chance to see very often and some are fantasy creations built from the most bizarre things, but creating creatures that, for the most part, work really well.
M. F.
Very trippy place, wierd and wonderful decour, good cocktails and very attentive service. If you're looking for an alternate but memorable bar this is it!
K.
Very interesting collection of curiosities.
Z. G.
6 pounds is too much for "museum " like this, it looks more like bigger room full of random items sometimes a bit like garbage dump, but interesting in some way and I watched it with curiosity.
E. E.
Absolutely awesome, brilliant for the curious and for the not so curious. Can easily spend more than an hour just browsing the musuem, plus the tea/coffee is an excellent bonus afterwards!
M. S.
Amazing little collection of oddities. Can definitely recommend!
J. E.
Very friendly and knowable staff and a brilliant museum if you have an interest in oddities will definitely pop in again when visiting London next
C. G.
Victorian curiosities and weird memorabilia galore. A trip to a less known world where pubic hair and bone deformities are things to be collected.
R. K.
The downstairs part is much better than the upstairs one - the museum is great, but the bar's staff was not too friendly at all.
K. S.
A wide range of interesting cocktails and other drinks.
The museum is startling and intriguing. Needs to be seen to be believed!
L. T.
Excellent day out, very different. Highly recommended it. Great atmosphere and the guide book alone worth the price of admission. Will go again.
j. s.
The one place I take all my visiting friends in London. Wynd's collection of oddities and obscenities will twist your mind and perceptions in a refreshingly revolting way.
C. B.
Brill place, very atmospheric. You need to know what you're looking at, labelling needed. Cocktails yum! Well worth a visit.
M. S.
Incredible, fascinating very strange, brilliant!!!
N. S.
A very interesting place to visit and explore Great Britain.
f. s.
Great spot for a view of the stranger things of life and a brilliant mezcal cocktail. Great selection of absinthe as well. Very friendly staff.
山.
It was a lot of fun. It was also a very interesting place
I can't speak English, but the clerk listened to me
Thank you for the wonderful space and time
k. h.
Just what I was hoping for. Delicious cocktails at the bar upstairs. Amazingly odd museum downstairs
D. L.
Really quirky bar. Loads of odd things in the bar, great drink selection. Museum downstairs! Definitely worth a visit!
N. L.
Weird and wonderful downstairs - lovely atmospheric bar upstairs. Give it a go - you'll talk about it to your friends for ages.
L. L.
Hidden, er, gem is the wrong word but this place is definitely full of treasure. Interesting place. Enjoyed the tour. And the gin!
E. D.
Amazing place. Very different to other bars in London. A must see. The staff were really helpful.
Q. O.
Dark. Strangely cozy. Friendly staff. Surprinsgly good cocktails and a really mind blowing downstairs museum of horrors.
C. K.
A great mix of weird things, i spent the evening with a lion in a hat.
H. B. O.
Freaking creepy, worth visiting if you're interested in death, creepy things, mummified animals, bizarre skeletons and weird collections.
G. I.
Excellent place with excellent drinks and service
M. W.
Certainly a lot of curiosities, but the museum could benefit from being a bit more organised and having a better guidebook.
H. S.
Bizarre, interesting, eclectic mix of artefacts with narrative provided for most. Cocktails are well made too!
J. B.
Lovely cocktails and a reasonably priced excursion into the basement full of mysterious curiosities and wonders.
C. A.
Quirky as F. But in a fun sense
M. M.
Fascinating, freaky and well worth a visit. Loved it. Mr Wynd was funny, informative a and a lovely man .
A. V.
Funny and entertaining voyage into the weird. Really amusing experience and kind staff. Included in the price there is a mini guide too!
J. B.
Creepy and gross. Loved every second. Cocktail menu every bit as tasty as it is mad.
B. W.
The best/weirdest bar in London. Stevie is the best server around, definitely worth a visit.
V. j.
Just a legit nice place. First time I've been walking round a museum with a beer.
T. R.
If you want to see something you'll never forget, it's a must! And thanks to the mixologist for the great cocktail.
N. C.
Fantastic collection of things I could only have dreamed of seeing before. For £5 it was one of the best experiences I had in London.
A. P.
So scary and uncomfortable that it makes it worth the experience. So strange in its own right but a worthy weekend stroll to this place for a beer or cocktail :)
A. H.
It's definitely different. A fireman's pole might've been easier to get down than the staircase
G. R.
Weirdly wonderful fun! And a complementary cup of tea afterwards in the company of a stuffed lion was really the icing on the cake!
S. D.
Great items however you’re forced out if they get busy. Not very good organisation the waiting time in the cold is extremely long also.
M. A.
Friendly service, curious curiosities and delicious drinks. Definite enjoyable visit.
G. M.
Just the best place for an interesting evening....I won't say anymore so I don't spoil the surprise!
S. M.
The best bar I've ever been to. Fascinating, wonderful absinthe, amazing collection

Always something new to see with every visit, even if it was perhaps there on the previous occasion
T. P.
Bizarre and wonderful place. Super staff. And killer cocktails. Definitely will be back.
Y. V.
Great place, ambience and Cocktails

Absinthe is an acquired taste, but the cheese platter was good.
Museum completely bonkers but we'll worth a visit.

(Translated) This site is a MUST after visiting the natural history museum. It's in the basement of The Last Tuesday Society absentee shop. This is the MOST BIZARRE museum I have ever seen, with a collection of extremely rare objects, both natural and taxidermic art, and other super-curious oddities. I'm glad I followed the recommendation of a friend since now it's a place that I'm recommending, especially and as I said, after the natural history museum, since this way it's much more impressive and fun. Ever since I went, I've been looking at whether the objects I find would be worthy of that museum.

(Translated) Creepy museum with lots of curiosities, prices are ok and souvenirs are cheap to buy. The museum is quite far out and you should take your time to get there. The cocktails are less recommendable. Otherwise a different kind of museum, if you already know a lot in London you can go there
