All in all, it's just another block of clay hardened by drying in the sun or in a kiln, and used for building, paving in the permanent upright construction having a length much greater than the thickness and presenting a continuous surface except where pierced by doors, windows and used for shelter, protection, or privacy, or to subdivide interior space, to support floors, roofs, or the like, to retain earth, to fence in an area, etc.

A very interesting little museum. Free to get in. I never knew there was so many different colour bricks.
